Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the John and Heidie Show PODCASTI here's John
and Heidi.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Today is a special day, Heidie, do you know what
today is?
Speaker 3 (00:09):
What is today? John?
Speaker 2 (00:10):
I thought you'd never ask, Heidi. It is Wednesday, the
first day of January of twenty twenty five. Yeah, it's
New Year's Day. So the Rose Bowl happens today, Apple
Gifting Day, Commitment Day, Copyright Law Day, Euroday, Global Family Day.
Also Mummers Parade Day, Bloody Mary Day, Ellis Island Day,
(00:31):
First Foot Day, Hangover Day. I'll speak softly for those
of you with that Ice Skating Day, New Year's dishonor
List Day, Polar Bear Swim Day, Public Domain Day, ring
a Bell Day, Emancipation Proclamation Day, World Day of Peace,
and more. I also have a tribute to someone we
lost at the tail end of last year, someone we
(00:53):
used to speak with every year on the first of January,
the amazing Crescin And we didn't get a chance to
talk this year. Like I said, he passed away at
the tail end of twenty twenty four. But I have
one of the recordings from I think twenty twenty one,
and we talked. I look to see twenty three minutes
for a five minute segment because he was chatty like me,
(01:15):
and we had so much fun. Every year when we
would talk, it would be the same thing. We'd have
so much fun just visiting about a lot of stuff.
So I'm gonna let you peek behind the curtain a
little bit and see some of the stuff that didn't
make it on the radio back then with a little
tribute to the amazing Cresken coming up on this New
Year's Day.
Speaker 1 (01:29):

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Now.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Surveys and studies and such brought to you by Jascasemedical
dot com. Have you heard of one of the studies
where they found that money only makes you happier up
to a certain amount. Well, the apparently it is the
same thing with a car version, they say. Arizona State
University says, the dependence on automobiles is negatively affecting our
happiness levels, but it seems that people are more likely
(02:21):
to feel less happy. You follow on that when they
reach the point that they need a car for more
than half of the activities they do in a given week.
You follow in all of this. The study was carried
out on more than two thousand US adults in cities
and suburbs. The research noted that in the USA, only
three percent of commuters travel to work via public transit
and sixty nine percent drive themselves. That's only seventy two percent.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
What about the rest those aren't driving at all?
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Apparently this study is so wishy washy and very flippy
floppy when reading it, it's bizarre. But if you want
to read the details and see if I got it
even close, you can see it in the show notes
for today. Johndtheidishow dot com.

Did you know? Brought to you by Genesis gold Ira
dot com. Heidi, did you know? Bruno Mars is not
his real name? I assume his real name is Peter
Jen Baett hernandez A.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yeah, it doesn't quite roll off the tongue.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
His name, Bruno Mars was inspired by the wrestler Bruno
Semonino because when he was a child, Bruno was independent,
confident and strongwilled like the wrestler, and Mars came along
because he was often told that he's out of this
world by girls, so they use Mars is his last name,
like the planet at all. We don't know anything. No,
(04:05):
we don't know everything, but now we know this now
big screen, a little screen, brought to you by Radiosavings
dot com. It's a bird, it's a plane. It's the
first look at the new character James Gunn Superman movie
starring David cornswet? Am I saying that right?
Speaker 3 (04:22):
I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
C O R e N s w e T Corn.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Sweat, Corn sweat. That's an unfortunate name.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
The first trailer for the upcoming superhero blockbuster dropped the
other day. It's like maybe a week ago or whatever now,
but it begins with Superman crashing into the snow, bloody
and battered from an unseen fight. So anyway, he's he's
he's out and it's gonna be hitting theaters July eleventh.
Can you tell I'm reading through the details here because
(04:50):
Lex Luthor's in here in the Green Lantern and uh,
mister Terrific, who I've never heard of. I'm gonna move on.
Deadpool and Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds has been named Teresa
the Order of Canada, the country's top civil honor. That's
pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
I think he seems like a neat dude. And every
time I hear about people in Hollywood being creepers, and they're, oh,
this guy is a creeper and that guy's a creeper.
I have a list of people that I'm like, please,
don't please that list please. Yeah, Big screen, Little screen
brought to you by Radiosavings dot com.
Speaker 4 (05:22):

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Now your Scoop of the Day comes your way courtesy
of Jscasemedical dot com and hed. This changes everything. Scientists
have discovered that mice can in fact sing, So really,
Step one, get me some mice. Step two, we're going
to create a mice band. What are we going to
(06:13):
do with the knowledge now that we know that mice
can sing?
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I'm pretty sure that was a money Python skit was
it really yet I'm all lined up in this box
and then was pounding each of them with a mallet
and they would all make different noises.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
I think that's not what they mean. But moving on,
Elon Musk has once again announced that X will launch
their own email service called x mail. The news came
to light when an X user posted the message x
mail would be cool, suggesting the email format username at
x dot com. Musk responded by writing, yeah, it's on
(06:44):
the list of things to do. Details about the service
are currently limited, but will apparently deliver messages directly to
a plain text DM inbox, eliminating threads and formatting commonly
associated with the traditional email. It isn't the first time
the idea has surface. Back in February, in response to
a post on X by company engineer asking when x
(07:05):
mail would be launched, Musk replied again, this is almost
a year ago now, back in February, it's coming so well.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
They wanted to be perfect. You don't want to roll
it out and have it being the mess and then
uses it.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Absolutely. Here's the thing I'm going to share. Do you
know what Gmail was originally? No, so a lot of
people because now it's like loaded on phones. So a
lot of people have Gmail. It's through Google, and so
it's it's not Google, you know whatever, at Google dot com,
it's at at Gmail dot com. Do you know what
was originally Garfield Mail?
Speaker 3 (07:38):
I did not.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
So if you look at the origin, the original Gmail,
you could sign up to get Gmail and when you
go to the page, it was Garfield that was running it.
It was like a Garfield thing. So if you had that,
I kind of wish it was still. Well again, I
think it's cool that turned into Gmail and we'll get
started as a cartoon cat. So fun stuff. Thanks for
(07:59):
listening to the John and Heidi Show.
Speaker 6 (08:01):

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Thank you for listening to the John and Heidi Show
on New Year's Day. I was so so sad to
hear of the passing of the amazing Creskin December tenth
of twenty twenty four. Every year we would have him
as our first guest of the year and we would
talk about that upcoming year. And he passed away December tenth,
but we had him scheduled as a guest for today. Now.
We didn't get a chance to record ahead of time,
(08:52):
but I do have a recording from several years ago.
Our five minute interviews would often take twenty five to
thirty minutes to record. We would have so much fun
about so many things. And as a tribute to the
amazing Crescan, I'm going to share some of the stuff
that didn't make it on the radio over the years.
And again. This was recorded for a New Year's Day
interview a few years ago with the amazing Crescin.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
I am as I said, as I keep reassuring John
and folks, I'm not sure that he quite believes me,
but I want you to know that I'm totally shober
the day after. I don't want people. I wish you
were really happy New Year. That's being the first day
of the new Year. But I don't want people to
think that I have any particular political position. I am
(09:37):
not against politicians. I want you to understand it. I
just wish that most of them had been the Titanic.
Other than that, John, things are.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Good, and I loved my visits with the amazing Crescan.
And one of my favorite things is when he would
tell me a little bit about his childhood.
Speaker 7 (09:55):
And I was a kid. That was the ending of
the Second whorl and War, and of course for Clendel
Mon Roosevelt, who was president, and you had comedians like well,
I Hope for for all the switch and what have you.
You look at the newsreels. I'm as a kid. I
go across the street to the park here and on
Saturday can see a Western, another movie, and then a
cartoons and then the news. And I can remember pictures
(10:17):
of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. But you could see he's laughing
because Hope is mocking everything in position. Who could have
ever drink that we can't laugh at things today?
Speaker 2 (10:27):
And something that maybe we shouldn't laugh about. Amazing Kreskin
told me, and this was a few years ago that
we were in at the time the beginning of World
War three.
Speaker 7 (10:37):
We are now in World War three, and I wanted
to announce this two years ago when it was planned.
But because I've read twenty two books. My most recent book,
I'm Not Trilled really called The Adventures of the Amazing Christian,
I did it with a cartoonists are very fine cartoonists,
because well, my other books have been constantly just a
strictly serious commentators on my career and my work and
(10:59):
my because the airline industry announced two years ago that
I had flown as of two years ago three and
one half million miles. But this new book, he's in
amazing that with the comic illustrator Howie Noel, who's a
very prominent man. Some of the scenes in my career,
he's drawn incredible pictures. People are sitting down with their
(11:22):
families and discussing the things that have taken place because
he captured them so graphically. But at the same time,
years three or four years ago, I wrote in a
book that something could happen in a year, and I
mentioned this past year that could paralyze the United States
and part of the western world for long periods of time.
I had no idea of a disease. I did not
(11:45):
know what the hunch was, what the feeling was, so
I felt it could have a large effective power.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Again, our tribute to amazing Creskin, And this was from
an interview from a few years back, and he had
some advice for the next generation as well.
Speaker 7 (12:00):
And young people need to pick up a science fiction
book some of the famous science fiction writers of one
hundred years ago. My libraries is being reorganized in the
past few days. I moved over eight thousand books. When
I'm at home, I read about four books a night.
I love to read, but read the old books. And
who would have ever dreamt that? Now today China is
(12:22):
far ahead of us in this electronically than we are.
And there's a building in China that he's drocking on
the conversations of hundreds of thousands of people every day
and fighting them away electronically. So privacy is a total
thing of the past, which unfortunately is going to cause
people may become a little bit more uneasy when they're
(12:42):
with people because they don't know if it could be
recorded or not recorded. But we now have a process
where we can reproduce a person's face, figure of manner,
hythms and what have you and the sound of their
voice so you would swear was the person across the street,
the mayor of the city some other because we're now
going to be able to electronically reproduce a person.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Again, that is the amazing Crescin. He's talking about AI
several years before AI was even a thing, and again
an amazing tribute to an amazing man. We're going to
miss you, my friend, and I.
Speaker 7 (13:16):
Will say goodbye, but on the spirit of broadcasting, let's
just say to be continued, Happy New Year, Happy.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
New Year to you as well, again remembering the amazing Crescin.
Thank you for listening to the John at Heidi Show.

Fun fact for you hiding, vanilla is mildly addictive.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
I actually knew that because and there are bits of
alcohol in it. There are there alcoholics that will chug vanilla.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
No kidding, See, I didn't know any of that. Fun
fact for your hiding. Ninety one percent of people skip
the first slice of bread quote because it's ugly. End quote.
I'm a fan of that first slice.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Yeah, I fight over that first slice of bread.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Yeah. We uh, we've been married a long time. No,
we don't get in fights over bread anymore, So just say.
Fun fact for a hiding. A person passes on two
hundred and seventy eight different types of bacteria to another
person when they kiss them. So they passed that on
des by smooch, and so stay on your side of
the room. Fun fact for you hiding. Your fingernails grow
faster when you are cold. Wow, it's good to know.
(14:51):
And our final fun fact for you hiding, what was that, John?
Your feet typically produce a pint of sweat every single day.
So we did a study and they had to collect
that somehow measure it. So several fun facts. Now you know,
thanks for listening to the John and Heidi Show.

Time now for some weird news brought to you by
Weird Gift of the Day dot com. The world's first
liquor store with a wedding chapel has opened.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
That's a great idea. A Vegas.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
No.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
I bet if you asked one hundred people that most
of them would guess Vegas. But it's not. It's New Orleans. Yeah, chucks,
on the avenue hosted a wedding ceremony for a Louisiana
couple who exchanged vows next to the beer cooler over
Charles Leshner walked the bride down the aisle for the ceremony,
which is officiated by New Orleans Saints superfan and ordained
(17:19):
minister Randy Elvis Bonnible. The couple's first dance was to
an Elvis Presley song and was also performed. Oh and
there was also a performance by the New Orleans Brass Band,
a flower girl throwing black and gold beads and a
second line dancing through the bourbon section and tequila isle.
Wedding packages started five hundred dollars.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
That is classy, and you have to opt.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
In for extras like you know, beer truck driver to
serve as a witness and the bourbon tasting. The groom
at the venue's first ceremony said that his bride selected
Chucks because we just love to drink and we figured
it's perfect. Oh my go, we said, yeah, let's do it.
Oh my gosh, oh my goodness. That is some weird
news brought to you by Weird Gift of the Day

dot com. Time now for the list brought to you
by Jascasemedical dot com. We started this yesterday the worst
movie is of twenty twenty four and we ended over here.
So Lisa Frankenstein is the next one on the list.
So apparently it's not great. They say it's like the
(18:27):
world's most needless over complicated SNL sketch.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
I've not even heard of this one. I don't have
to look up that trailer though, because I'm curious.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Dog Man is a third rate ripoff of a Joker movie, Mousetrap.
What is this one about? Oh, it's the one that's
a homicidal Mickey Mouse. It's a steamboat w oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Not another Church movie. Nineteen years after the Diary of
a Mad Black Woman, Tyler Perry made this one. Not
(18:55):
another Church movie. Harold and the Purple Crayon. Well, that's
a book. Sounds amazing, that's a children's book. And Rebel
Moon director's cut. So these are the movies that round
out the list. There were some from yesterday as well.
I've got the entire list in the show notes for
today at John Anddheidishow dot com.

Time Now for the Quote of the Day, It comes
your way courtesy of Radiosavings dot com. Or Quote today
is from Joe Girard who says the elevator to success
is not an option. You'll have to use the stairs
one step at a time. I like that that it's
so true, and yeah, it is very true. And sometimes
those steps are slippery and dangerous and there's no railing
(20:07):
and you gotta be careful. But the latter to success
or the steps to success, Yeah, I encourage you to
try to find your way. Thanks for listening to The
John and Heidi Show. This portion of The John and
Heidi Show is brought to you by the John and
Heidi Show. That sounds kind of funny, but it's true.
Go to your local radio station and ask them to
start carrying the John and Heidi show. Here's the best part.
(20:30):
They could carry the show for free. They play a
couple commercials, but it doesn't cost them anything every month.
So if you know a radio station that could use
a little bit of help, send them our way. Send
them to Johnandeidishow dot com. Again, Johndeidishow dot com. We
would love to do a radio program in your community.
Then you could listen to the podcast and listen to
(20:50):
us on the radio. We always like to wrap things
up around here with good news, and I think this
is good news comes your way courtesy of Genesis Goldra
dot com and here's the headline. Eight year old hero
trades skateboard to save kitten from abuse. So this happened
in Yuma, Arizona. Heartwarming display of courage and compassion. An
(21:13):
eight year old Zale and Barry from Yuma became a
local hero after saving a kitten from cruelty. During a
visit to a local park with his mother, they witnessed
a group of children abusing a kitten by tossing the
kitten back and forth like a football. Determined to protect
the tiny animal. Zaiyan acted quickly and selflessly. He ran
(21:33):
up to the group and offered his prize skateboard in
exchange for the kitten. The children agreed, and this young
man rushed the kitten, later named Peaches, back to his
home for safety. The family decided to adopt Peaches and
took Peaches to the Humane Society of Yuma for medical care. Unfortunately,
Peaches had suffered from an upper respiratory infection that required
(21:55):
one of his eyes to be surgically removed. Nikes O
this the young boys love for the kitten never Wavered says.
We explained to him that Peaches were going to lose
an eye, the mother said, But he said that was
fine as long as Peaches can live, because that's my
best friend. Oh. Now we are recovering well in his
(22:16):
new forever home, where he's surrounded by love and care.
Zalen Zaiyen. I don't know how he say this young
man's name. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be rude.
I'm not smart, that's all. His selflessness did not go unnoticed.
The Humane Society of Yuma, along with a skateboard retailer Zumanz,
love this. They surprised him with a gift to replace
a skateboard game.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
Is fantastic.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
I think that's so cool. Isn't that great?
Speaker 3 (22:39):
Yes, and it probably is a better skateboard than the
when he had before.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
And that's awesome. Again, I hope I said some of
the names right in the story. You can read the
entire thing. I've got a link to it in the
show notes for today at johndeidishow dot com. Time saying
bye Heidi, Bye Heidi, Goodbye, everybody, have a great day.
Thank you for listening to The John and Heidi Show
on a Wednesday
