movie The Belco Experiment. He's a big dude. He's six
foot six.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Oh wow.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, so he's the big, big dude. He's also a

Surveys and studies and such brought to you by Jascasemedical
dot com. Amateur and professional pet detectives are booked solid
in Europe these days due to a sharp rise in
lost pets and stolen pets. Stolen pets, according to one report,
dog theft rose six percent oh twenty twenty two to
twenty twenty three alone. English and French bulldogs are regularly
(02:05):
sold for about three thousand pounds, which is US dollars
like three seven hundred and twenty five bucks. They're months
the most frequently targeted breeds. Well, pet theft is booming,
so is pet recovery. Some owners recruit the services of volunteers,
but others pay hundreds of dollars for professionals to hunt
for their lost or stolen pet. Some pet detectives use
(02:26):
an arsenal of the latest tech, including thermal imaging drones
and cellular outdoor cameras. So that sounds like an interesting line.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I thought pet detective would be a real career.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
No, it's ace venture a pet detective. How can I
help you? Surveys and studies and suchs. Brought to you

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Did you Know? Brought to you by Genesis Goldira dot com. Heidi,
did you Know? In two thousand and two, Brazilian mechanic
Alfredo Mooser invented a new type of lamp that uses
no electricity. The Moser lamp, created using a plastic bottle
filled with water and a small bit of bleach to
stop the bottle from turning green with algae, works through
the refraction of natural light, roughly kicking out forty to
(03:36):
sixty watts per lamp. They're popular in countries where electricity
is expensive, and they've been fitted in over one hundred
and forty thousand homes in the Philippines. Despite the success
of his invention, he's not rich because he said.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Gave it away.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
I want to give it away.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
That is totally too.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
That is she's trying so hard to make that word
stick and not going to happen. We don't know everything,
but now we know this now Big Screen, Little Screen
brought to you by Radiosavings dot Com. The second season
of the HBO drama The Last of Us will launch
in April. So there's folks that are super excited about that.
(04:13):
I have not seen any of that one. So do
you know anything about that? Heidi?
Speaker 3 (04:16):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Why do I ask you that because I know what
you watched we live together.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
We lived together. If you haven't seen it, I haven't
seen it.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Most likely, well, something we saw a lot of commercials
for leading up to and we're going to see them
again next year. Golden Globes, they're going to be bringing
back Nicki Glazer for another year. The producers of the
program the Golden Globes, which were last weekend, not the
other day, but like a week ago, last weekend, they said,
we had an absolutely great experience with her and we
think that she would be great at this in the
(04:44):
long term. When they asked if she wanted to come back,
she said, I can't talk officially, but I will say
she really found her niche here and I think she
really worked out beautifully on the show. And I would
love to see it continue. So that was I think
her manager maybe that they were talking to Big Screen

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Now your scoop of the day comes your way. Courtesy
of Jscasemedical dot Com. Micro retirement. Have you heard of
this thing? Heidik have not. It's the latest trend in
the career world, and I have to admit I kind
of think it's an interesting idea. According to reports, a
growing number of younger people in the workforce are opting
for the adult equivalent of taking a gap year. That's right.
(05:54):
In an effort at fighting corporate burnout, some people are
opting to temporarily on per leave their job for months
or even a couple of years.
Speaker 7 (06:03):
Yeah, and what if your job's not there when you
decide you finally want to come back.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
The story is that these gen Z and millennial workers
are carving a chunk of their time in their career
to travel and focus on their passions or pick up
a different job while they're still young, rather than waiting
until they're in their sixties or later to retire. Here's
the thing that I'll say I like about it. I
like the fact that you get to go and enjoy
life while you're young, because I know people who waited
way too long to retire and then when Okay, we're
(06:29):
going to go on a cruise, but I can't cause
I got to get my hip replacement on this right,
and then I got this coming up. So they're literally
working around I've got a relative working around a hernia operation,
a hip operation, all this stuff. They haven't been able
to do anything in retirement. Yeah, and I go, man,
that really kind of stinks. So that's why.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Yeah, we have been making it a priority to the.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Traveling more, doing more stuff. And when I say we
travel a lot, I mean you notice we're not gone.
So we only just go to the town next door,
stop buying, and go hi we're out in the world. Okay,
moving right along. A former corporate chef at McDonald says
that the town's fast food chains newest straws make beverages
taste different. In a TikTok, Mark Hazrick explains, McDonald switched
(07:08):
out their iconic stripe and straws or striped. How do
you say that striped or strip it strip? There are
iconic straws with stripes for something that is either a
little more sustainable or a little cheaper. He says the
new version is more flimsy, especially when you're drinking a milkshake.
Even worse, he says, when you try these beverages through
the new straw, it's not the same. He claims there's
a variety of reasons why you perceive beverages in a
(07:30):
certain way, including the volume by which the diameter diameter
of the straw, and the tactile feel of it. Because
of its change, nothing is right. This dude is super
worked up over straws. Anyway, he's got a point. A
lot of people online agree completely with him.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
So straws are tubular.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
She's trying to get the word tubulary. They actually are,
They really are. It's the first time you're accurate. Stupid
today comes your way courtesy of J'sksemedical dot com.

Thank you for listening to the John and Heidi so excited.
A visit right now with Benjamin Byron Davis. You'll recognize
his voice because he's a voice actor and does a
lot of cool stuff. But we're going to talk about
a new project that you get to play a Batman villain.
Is that something you've always wanted to be as a
Batman villain?
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Well, if I couldn't be Batman, I think, yeah, that'd
be my number two would be to be a villain.
But yeah, I grew up reading comics Marvel and DC
and but the the fact, honestly, and I was. I
was talking to a childhood friend the other day on text,
(09:01):
just sort of imagining remembering our childhood and thinking, you know,
maybe fifty sixty years from now, some kids a sleepover.
I'm going to be the answer to a trivia question
about Batman. It's pretty pretty pretty exciting to be honest.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
And you get to play the Batman villain, Rupert Thorn.
Let's talk a little bit about this for folks that
are maybe not super Batman fans, Let's talk about who
Rupert Thorn is and what does it like to be him.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
So Rupert Thorn has got a pretty story history. He
was created by I believe Steve Engelhart and Walt Simonson
in May of nineteen seventy seven, and he is he's
for those who don't know the history of the character.
You know, Batman. When I was a little kid, we
all thought of Adam Weston Burt Ward and was sort
(09:48):
of the campiness of that old sort of cartoon esque
TV show. And then in the seventies that was from
the sixties and the seventies, there was sort of a
course correction towards riddier, more reality based world and Rupert
Thorne I think came out of that was this was
a villain that was more like who you might encounter
(10:12):
in the real world, and now is imagined by James
Gunn In this new iteration, Rupert is it plays pays
great homage to the history of the character and a
lot of the storied actors Cedric Yarborough, notably John Burnham
from Batman the animated series, all of them played this character.
(10:34):
He is also sort of this different creature in James's world.
He's a scary, scary dude, and it was a lot
of fun. I hope your listeners want to think less
of me, but a lot of fun too. InApp it happened.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
I don't think they'll think less of you. I get
to visit with people all the time, and I always
ask is it more fun to be the good guy
or the bad guy. I've never had him say the
good guy. It's always the bad guy. So to be
a Batman villain is probably even better than being Batman.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
I think you might be right. I think you might
be onto something. I think it is fun to be
bad and Rupert Thorn is.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Certainly that now you in addition to doing voice work.
We see you on screen in movies as well, because
there are movies like The Balco Experiment. We see you
on screen several things. Guardians of the Galaxy three. Is
it like completely different when you're doing the voice for
a movie compared to when you're getting in the makeup
and you're actually on screen in a movie.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Well, you know, you don't have a four am call
time when you don't have makeup to be done, so
that's a little bit easier. When you're going in for
a day in front of the microphone, it's a lot
more casual in a lot of ways, and you've got
less concern about a great many things. A day on set,
particularly a day on set like on Guardians, that's an
(11:50):
extraordinary day. I mean, it's like working on the widget
of Oz or something. You're surrounded by people that are
in these fantastic characters, makeups and on these fantastical sets,
and it's really it's you spend the entire time between
takes kind of just in awe of the artistry you're
(12:10):
surrounded by, and when you're working in front of a microphone,
it's really just you the text. And I was lucky
enough to have the scene partner Alan Tutic while I
was recording ruper Thorn, and that is pretty amazing. Yeah,
but also just in terms of what the responsibility of
your day looks like, it's a much easier day. You
(12:31):
don't have to worry about shaving, you don't have to
worry about a lot of things.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Nice. Yeah, we've had a chance to visit with Alan.
What a great guy, and I bet he's got to
be a ton of fun to work with.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
He's a ton of fun to work with. It Unfortunately,
I was tormenting him the whole time. So much of
the time he's in tears and stopping and screaming, and
you've got to sort of stay invested in the torture.
But you can't help but marvel at how good he is.
There's not many that have as wide a breadth of
exp varience and shown many home runs, and he's really
(13:04):
an extraordinary actor.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Well, Benjamin, thank you so much for your time today.
We appreciate a bunch.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Hey, John, I'm so happy I got to be here
talking to you and your audience. Thank you so much
for having me.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Absolutely again, Benjamin Byron Davis and I'm going to throw
a link to the new Project Creature commendos. It's out now.
He gets to be Rupert Thorne, a Batman villain. How
cool is that. I've got a link to it in

Fun fact for you, Heide, is that John, no high
jumper has ever been able to stay off the ground
for more than one second. So when you think about that,
when you jump, the high jumpers jump, they're only in
the air for one second. So when you think about it,
you always watch, like on slow motion, it looks like
they're up there forever. In reality it's just boom. It's
the second fun fact for you heiding in Australia, there

fact for you heiding. Mexico's official name is the United

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Oh that's interesting, very interesting.
Speaker 1 (14:39):

these and the average woman has five.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (15:40):
The average man has eleven, man has five.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
I don't know hats. Yeah, man, I can see men
have sight of the closet.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
I do have hat and there's a bunch of them. Like,
I don't know why I have that. I use it

Now some weird news brought to you by Weird Gift
of the Day dot com. There's a chance that you
were born to drink, and by that I mean scientists
have uncovered a link between the length of our fingers
and our drinking habits.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Oh okay.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Research published in the American Journal of Human Biology height
he's looking at a former suggest that the length ratio
between your index fingers could predict how much alcohol you're
likely to consume. They found that those whose ring finger
is longer in comparison to their index finger are more
likely to consume alcohol and display higher risks for pop
(17:03):
problematic drinking behaviors. This relationship was particularly strong among men.
So saying, if you have a ring finger that is
longer than your pointer finger or your index finger, I do,
and I do as well.
Speaker 7 (17:16):
Not really, yours are almost the same, No, mine not
pretty different height wise.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
I think they're all my fingers and your fingers are
almost identical.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
OK.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Yeah, we'll do this. This is not very good radio, Heidi,
It's not tubular at all. Weird news brought to you
by Weird Gift of the Day dot Com. Time now
for the list, brought to you by Jascasemedical dot com.
The coolest new products at the Consumer Electronics Show twenty
twenty five. These are things you can actually get your
(17:46):
hands on. So I'm going to start this today. We'll
probably finish it tomorrow, but the Consumer Electronics Show that's
going on in Las Vegas has all kinds of cool
stuff out there all the time. Leafy Pod Smart Planter.
It's a new plant that lets you know if your
plant needs water or if it needs light. So you
put plants in this thing and it'll tell you what
(18:07):
to do to make that plant thrive, if it needs
a little more heat, if it needs a little more humidity, whatever.
It's one hundred and forty eight dollars. It's a smart planter,
which Heidi's making a funny look. It's like just water plants.
How about the Niko niko jita fufu. Sometimes I'm sure
(18:28):
I nailed it. Do you sometimes find yourself blowing on
a cup of coffee or tea to cool it down? Well,
now you don't have to. This adorable robot cat blows
on your goodness. Yeah, as you clip it on the
rim of your coffee or your soup, and it gently
blows cool air and good news. It's only twenty five dollars.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
I wouldn't want that.
Speaker 7 (18:47):
I like my beverages as hot as the surface of
the sun.

Here's the quote. The suspense is terrible. I hope it
will last. Do you remember that I do. I'm sorry.
I hope it'll last. It doesn't, it will, It'll hope
it'll last. That is your quote of the day. It

but it's true. Go your local radio station and ask

the best part. They can carry the show for free.
Speaker 9 (20:07):
They play a couple commercials, but it doesn't cost them

Speaker 1 (20:30):
We always like to wrap things up around here with
good news, and I think this is good news. Comes
your Way courtesy of Genesis gold Ira dot com. I'm
gonna read the headline to you here. This is in Houston, Texas.
He changed my life. Post Malone surprises a single mother
with a twenty thousand dollars tip.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
That is insane.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Yeah, that's very cool. He's a musician, Grammy nominated artist
post Malone. He's also an actor, by the way, I've
seen him in movies. But the thing that's really cool.
This was a heartwarming act of kindness at Christmas time
and it turned into a miracle for a hard working
single mother in Houston. Renee Brown is thirty six years young.
She was working a late night shift as a bartender
(21:09):
at a place called the Railyard, a small neighborhood bar,
Christmas Eve into Christmas morning when the unexpected happened. Brown,
who had been feeling down about spending the holiday away
from her daughter, nine year old daughter, found her spirits
lifted when post Malone walked into the bar with singer
Shabouzi and friends. You know that's how all stories go
is yes.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
The group enjoyed some drinks and some music and laid
back atmosphere and jamming of the jukebox and the patio
until closing time. As a night was coming to a close,
post Malone requested his bill, only to discover that his
friends and some regular patrons had already covered his tab.
Determined to leave his mark of appreciation, he insisted Brown
wring him up for something anything. I want to leave
(21:50):
you a tip. What happened next left Brown in tears.
The tip that he left for this young lady was
twenty thousand that I immediately broke down, crying, she said.
A single mother working two jobs, she explained that rising
costs and life's challenges have left her struggling to make
ends meet. This generous gesture offered her a sense of
(22:11):
stability and relief that she had not experienced in years.
Going into work Christmas Eve, I was so sad that
I had to leave my baby girl to go to work.
Obviously God sent me a Christmas miracle.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
That's lovely.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
This is hands down the most humble personal celebrity, personable
celebrity I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He changed
my life on Christmas Eve, and I will be forever grateful.
Thank you so much. That is too bulous, all choked
up over her his heid. He's trying to get that
word to stick.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
It's gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Sure it is all right. Time say good bye, Heidi,
good bye, Heide. You bybody. If you'd like to read
that story, I do have a link to it in
the show notes for today at johndtheidishow dot com.
