and studies and such, if you can imagine, we could
see the end of wrinkles and gray hair. According to
to his study, can you imagine that? German researchers say
(02:53):
they have identified potential for a variety of an anti
aging treatment involving an array of naturally occurring hormones, it
could be used to slow the body's aging process. Researchers
found that melatonin, known for its role in regulating sleep,
may also help your skin stay youthful. Several other hormones
such as meliscaliki maca that's something, it's a hormone that
(03:17):
affects skin pigmentation, and oxytocin were found to help keep
skin and hair youthful by helping protect them from UV damage.
How great is hope these discoveries will lead to antiage
aging treatments called seno therapeutics. These drugs work by targeting
and removing cells that stop dividing and build up as
your body's age. So that's kind of cool. What do
(03:39):
you think?
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Very cool?

Now Big Screen, Little Screen. Michael Gandolfini, son of late
James Gandolfini, is opening up about the possibility of reprising
Tony Soprano's role in a potential Sopranos prequel. That's kind
of cool, so he would be playing the character that
his father played. He said that it's it's, you know,
something that is kind of in the works. So he
(04:38):
added that they would love to work with this group,
but he doesn't know if the character Tony will return,
so he's like, I don't know, it's kind of a possibility, right.

side of the quarter, one hundred and fifty on the
side of a half time, and one d and ninety
eight on the side of a dollar coin. So no,
I mean you're on a nickel.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
No, no, none. Smooth Yeah, smooth is a baby's bottom.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah, I don't know if it's that smooth. I'm not
touching babies bottoms, but it's nice and smooth. I do know.
We don't know everything, but now we know.

to a new report, Heidi, the average American lives eighteen
miles from their mother. So if we factor in how
(07:53):
far your mother lives and how close my mother lives now,
we're still probably further than this. Yeah, my mother used
to live a couple flowers away. Now she's like a
couple minutes away, which is pretty cool, and.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
We probably see her less than we did when a How.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Bad do we feel that we I talked to her
more because I go, oh, I should call her. I
feel bad that she moved here and I don't have
a new startup wants to create genetically modified pets that
glow in the dark. The Los Angeles Project aims to
create more desirable pets through genetic engineering. They plan to
create glow in the dark, hypoallergetic cats and dogs and
(08:27):
rabbits one day, maybe even actual unicorns. Yeah. It's the
brainchild of a biohacker by the name of Josie Zayner,
who in twenty seventeen injected herself with a gene editing tool, Crisper,
during a conference, then live streamed it. Zayner says, the
Los Angeles Project is all about making animals that are
more complex and interesting and beautiful and unique than the
(08:47):
gods they walk among us, folks. That all seems weird,
That is horrifying. That should have been my weird news.
I didn't get that far in the story before I
realized just how weird it was. Otherwise that would been
weird news. And down here new stomach churning. Research shows
that each toilet flush release clouds of bacteria laden water
(09:07):
droplets into the air, with some toilet designs creating more
health concerns than others. Chinese researchers found that squat toilets
release up to two point six times more bacteria than
bidet style toilets, with a second flush increasing bacteria release
even further, especially concerning those They found that most of
the bacteria laden droplets are small enough to stay airborne
(09:29):
and reach deep into your lungs if inhaled. The good
news is that proper ventilation can reduce airborne bacteria concentrations
by up to two point two times. So I guess
what they're saying is, when you flush the toilet, don't
hover over it inhaling. If you're doing that, you're kind
of weird. Scoop of the Day on the John and Heidi.

Thank you for listening to the John and Heidi show
on this Movie Star Monday. Excited to visit right now
with Griffin Dunn. He is in over one hundred movies
and TV shows, and he's also the author of a
best selling book which we're going to talk about as well.
And he's got a new movie out right now. It's
called Ex Husbands. Let's talk a little bit about this
new film.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Well, it's written and directed by a very talented guy
named Noah Pritzbury. He's as very funny guy. He thought
of me right off the bat for playing this role
of an ex husband, a role I am all too
familiar with. Divorce is sort of a running theme of
this movie. I play a man of a certain age
with two grown children whose father is Richard Benjamin played
(10:57):
by Richard Benjamin, who's just this iconic actor from movies
in the sixties and seventies. I was so honored to
work with, and who announced it to me one day
that he's going to get a divorce from my mother,
and he's going to be out and playing on the
field and going on dating apps. I'm like, look at
him like he's nuts. Of course he is and dies,
and then my wife divorces me. So I'm sort of
(11:19):
lost in limbo. And when my son is going to
get married and have a bachelor party in Tulu, Mexico,
I am not invited because I'm going to a divorce.
Who wants that vibe at the bachelor party? Yet I
crash it and just show up uninvited. And so it's
like three generations of men with various struggles in their lives.
But like all really good comedy, it comes out of
(11:41):
turmoil and conflict and uncomfortable situations. It's funny, but you know,
there's a lot of heart in it and very you know,
very relatable to anyone who's got a bit of life
behind them.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
And I can tell you so many people, even if
they personally have never gone through this, they definitely know
somebody who's gone through this. So I love the fact
that you find a lighthearted way to tell the story.
And there's a fun joke that keeps popping up in
the movie about did you hear about the ninety year
old couple that got divorced.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Waiting till the kid John.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
I just love that. That just keeps popping up, and
I'm like, it's funny because you know, that kind of
thing happens in real life too. People, you know, in
these awkward moments in life, people try to bring some
levity to those moments by you know, using humor. Now,
I've had a chance to see you in so many movies,
over one hundred movies and TV shows. What's the thing
that comes up the most when you're like out in
the wild and you're just you know, living your life,
(12:33):
and somebody comes up and says, Griffin Dunn, I love
you in What is the thing you hear the most?
Speaker 3 (12:37):
Well, you know, I am fortunate to have been in
two iconic movies from the eighties that will forever follow
me and will be the lead in whatever my little bit,
whoever is writing it would be. If you're a horror
fan of any kind, you will know me from American
Werewolf in London, which was the very first movie I
ever you know, had a decent part in. And then
(13:00):
later after Hours was that Martin Scorsese directed. And now
as I've sort of you know, gotten older, and I'm
stuffing my bag through airports, people scream out uncle Niki
the character I play and this is us.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
I love it so And I suppose when you people
come up and talk to you, you can probably tell
right away based on what character they know you as
you know, you can learn a lot about them. And
one that I loved the movie Who's That Girl, which
again probably you know eighties movie.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
So there's just so many fun things. And you did
a book this last year, the Friday Afternoon Club, kind
of talking about all this amazing stuff you had a
chance to do. And it was a New York Times
bestseller because people are interested in all this amazing stuff
you had a chance to do in your life.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Yeah. I was really really pleased by that. The subtitle
under Friday Afternoon Club is a family memoir, and it's
really about my family, my role and then of course,
but you know, the even the backstories of my parents
and my mother's family that goes back to the Mexican
Revolution and my father's to the Great Famine and their
lives joining up in New York during live television and
(14:07):
moving to Hollywood and raising children, and you know, I
don't show up until around page fifty, and all the
complexities my parents divorce, and you know, my father was,
you know, had a secret life, is that he was
a closeted, closeted man and went through the pain of
that as well as the pain of my mother, you know,
having to live with that. And I treated them, you know, everyone,
(14:29):
myself included though honestly, but always with love, you know.
And I think people respond to even though the circumstances
of privilege and difference and there's tragedy, and even though
that's particular to our family. I've been so pleased that
the themes of it, of family, of loss and humor,
I really have resonated with people. I mean, it's just
(14:50):
got a huge audience, bigger than many of my independent movies.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
You know.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
So it's just been a joy.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Well, I'm going to throw a link to the book
to make it easy to find, and also the trail
for ex husbands. And again, Griffin, thank you so much
for your time. We appreciate it me too.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Thank you, love you to talk to you.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Griffin Dunn. The book is called The Friday Afternoon Club.
I've got a link to that, and I've got the
trailer for ex Husbands. It's all in the show notes

(15:49):
and it comes your way at this time every day.
Now we move some things around so people are still
getting used to that. Our quote today is from Clark Griswold,
played by Jimmy Chase. This is from National Lampoon's Christmas
Vacation in nineteen eighty nine. Surprise Eddie. If I woke
up tomorrow with my head so to the carpet, it
wouldn't be more surprised than I am right now.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
That is a great quote, and that is a great
great movie. We had a friend who had never seen
that movie. Yeah, and we were gonna we went to
the movie theater with him and we were the only
ones there, so we had like a private screen.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Yeah, that's pretty great.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Quote of the day comes your way at this time

Time now for news to Me with Heidi Small. What's
news to me today?
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Heidi remains were found in Romania of a pterodactyl with
a bigger wingspan than a fighter.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Jet totly cow.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
It was as big as a giraffe, weighed half a
ton and it had a thirty nine foot.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Wingspan thirty nine foot.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
An F sixteen fighter jet has a thirty three foot span.

fact for you, Heidi, what's up? John Leonardo da Vinci
could write with one hand and draw with the other
hand at the same time. I can do that. What's
so special about that? Well, it's going to be gibberish.
Good fun fact for you, Heiding. When Columbus discovered the Americas,
(18:06):
the continent was already inhabited by ninety million people, which
is a third of the world's population at the time,
so discovered might be the wrong word. Fun fact for you, Heiding,
Benjamin Franklin wrote a scientific essay about passing gas. Okay,
so there you go. Another fun fact for you, Heide.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
What's that John?
Speaker 2 (18:25):
At birth? We have just two in eight fears falling
and loud sounds. All other fears are learned fears. Really yeah,
so if you're a free of something, thank your parents
for your older brothers and sisters or an experience. There
you go, and our final fun fact for you, Heidi.
The Great Pyramid of Giza has eight sides. All other
(18:46):
pyramids have just four.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Yeah, that's very cool. Several fun facts now you know.

Time now for some weird news and a group of
scientists say that they're getting close to being able to
decipher the emotions of animals. Researchers at the University of
Copenhagen claim that by using a form of AI, they're
able to distinguish between positive and negative emotional states and
various animals. After using machine learning to analyze distinct calls
from cows and pigs and other animals, they say they
(19:46):
realize that certain acoustic signals indicate mood shifts, and they
can identify which sounds relate to pleasant or unpleasant experiences.
They say their findings could change how we handle livestock
and wildlife, and it could revolutionize animals welfare. What do
you think of all that that's interesting? That make you
think of anything? In particular?
Speaker 1 (20:04):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (20:05):
It makes me think of Brian Reagan, the guy that
was decoding what whales are saying. Oh, this one says
he's lonely.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Okay, thanks, Charlie.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
You're lonely. If you've not heard that, you need to

Time now for the question of the day question for you, Heidi.
(20:56):
A new survey found that fifteen percent of us have
done this at a friend's birthday party. What is it?
I think we have? Not that we wanted to, but
it happened. Do you know? I don't know what you
were thinking, but that's not a watched a sporting event.
Oh yeah, yeah, I'm sure we've been to a party
and that was on somewhere. I'm not sports gay, but
(21:18):
I'm sure that there was some sports on at some
birthday party somewhere. Question of the Day comes your way
at this time on the Johnnheidi Show Radio.
Speaker 1 (21:26):

Time now for unnecessary censorship, and we're going to pick
up where we left off yesterday. What was this? What
was the thing before? What's the name of this?
Speaker 1 (22:03):
It is called Where to Hide a Star by Oliver
Jeffers the second half. And when we left off, they
were behind the curtains, under the sofa, in the cupboard chair.
So now the had never been this good at before,
(22:24):
and the boy began to The boy decided to radio
for help. The martian knew more about than him and
came at once at that moment, far to the north,
the hit something solid with a bump, and the fell
(22:44):
into the back At home, the martian used the on
his spaceship and what.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
So they all on a.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Once there was a girl, a girl who loved very much,
and she had always dreamed of having one day. She
couldn't believe her luck when she found a simply washed
up on shore. As the girl enjoyed playing with her
new the boy hurrying to was getting closer and closer,
(23:20):
though when he got there, it seemed the didn't after all,
it had found a new friend. The girl didn't know
what to do. The boy didn't know either. They both wanted,
but they didn't want to make someone else unhappy. Then
the martians suggested another game of but this time he

Although it took a while. Once the sky grew dark,
both the girl and the boy finally okay, after all
the had always been easy to be and.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
What is this called again?
