irish cream half and half. It looks so good.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
It sounds pretty healthy too.

Now surveys and studies and such. Do you ever find
yourself arguing with your significant other about money? It's a
loaded question. I know, but don't feel bad, because, according
to a survey, you're far from alone. The average couple
has fifty eight arguments about money every single year. That's
more than once a week. Talker Research poll found that
age plays a big role in the discussion of money matters.
Younger couples, particularly millennials, report about six money related arguments
(02:31):
every month. Baby boomers they average only three. We're not
either of those. What are we? We're not boomers, but
we're not No, we're Gen X. Yeah, I don't know
if it says any I guess we'll keep on going.
Younger couples might be facing more financial pressure. Oh do
you think? One in three said they feel uncomfortable talking
to their partner about finances little wonder. Forty four percent
said they worry that bringing up finances will lead to
(02:53):
an argument. Forty three percent disagree on what counts as
a necessity, thirty six percent agree about spending on non
essentials and I'm sorry, I argue rather about spending on
non essentials like vacations and streaming services, and thirty four
percent disagree about how much money they should be saving.
I will say this, save as much as you can
(03:13):
you're gonna need it as you get older. Surveys and
studies and such on The John and Heidi.

down Fury Road, following his twenty fifteen franchise reboot and
Mad Max Fury Road, and then he did a prequel
last year. He's saying that he's got some ideas for
more Mad Max movies. Here's the thing. When he makes them,
people go, So, why wouldn't you keep making them? Right?
And it's a bird, it's a play. No, it's Christopher
Reeve's son. ABC News correspondent has a touching story to share.
(04:05):
Thirty two year old Will Reeve, who is planning his
upcoming wedding to fiance Amanda Dublin, will honor his late
father in a special way on his big day he
revealed that he'll be wearing the Superman Stars cufflinks during
the ceremony. Also recently honored his dad in the TV
special Will Reeve Finding My Father, where the journalist retraced
(04:26):
the path that Christopher Reeve took through Alaska and Mexico
while filming a nature documentary shortly before he was paralyzed
in nineteen ninety five.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Wow, Oh that was sad.
Speaker 2 (04:36):

there's a planet that is shaped like a potato. It's
(05:18):
about the same size as Pluto, the dwarf planet. It's
called how Mia ha U me Ea. It orbits the
Sun beyond Neptune and has rings that are similar to Jupiter.
But what makes this even more interesting is that it's
shaped like a potato. Yeah, so why don't we count
that as a planet. It's because it's a dwarf planet.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
I have no idea because Pluto, I don't understand.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Pluto used to be a planet when I was a kid.
Not anymore. Pluto, You're always going to You're always a
planet in my book, I sound so old today. All right,
we don't know everything, but now we know. This time
now for the joke of the day with Heidi Small.
What do you have for me there, Heidi?
Speaker 4 (05:56):
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather,
not screaming the passengers in his car.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Joke of the day comes your way from my beautiful bride, Ms.
Heidi Small. Thanks for listening to the John and Heidi Show.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Time now for the scoop of the day, and this
is kind of interesting. For the first time ever, Major
League Baseball is letting players challenge umpire calls on balls
and strikes, and they're using technology to review the decision.
Spring training this year, there's about sixty percent of the
games players can appeal to the automated ball strike system,
often called robot umps. Here's how it works. Human umpires
(07:03):
still make the calls, but hawk Eye technology, which is
already used in sports like tennis and soccer, determines if
each pitch is in the strike zone. If the players
disagree with the call, they can challenge it by tapping
their head. Each player each team rather gets two challenges
per game. Of course, a wrong call on an important
(07:23):
pitch can change the course of the game, but at
least this spring players have a way to have it corrected. Now.
Baseball first started testing the system six years ago in
the minor leagues, so it's kind of cool. And Skype
is going away as of May of this year. Microsoft
they bought it a while ago, so like that's what
they do, they gobble up things. They bought it. I
(07:44):
think they bought it for eight point five billion dollars. Whoa,
and now they're shutting it down, So bye bye to
Skype in May. That is your scoop of the day show.
Thank you so much for listening to The John and
Heidie Show. To you in part by jascasemedical dot com.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Thank you for listening to the John and Heidi Show.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Excited to visit with Honigo Greensmith and we're going to
chat about NBC's Chicago Fire.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
This is a great show. People just love this program.
Speaker 5 (08:20):
Yes, I'm very grateful for it. We have the best
fan base. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
And you get to be as it says, you're a
spirited paramedic. Are you anything at all like your character
on Chicago Fire?
Speaker 5 (08:31):
I would say the only similarity we might have is
probably just her intensity for the passion she has in
her relationships and the care and the empathy and the
protectiveness perhaps, but as far as her like blunt honesty
and forthcomingness. But I don't think that's something that I
totally live in my birth all life.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
So like, is this filmed in Chicago? Is that where
you guys actually filmed the show?
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Yes, believe it or not. Yes, we are here all
the time.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
And when you're out and about, do you have people
who come up to you who think you are Violet?
Speaker 5 (09:05):
You know, people come up to me who you know,
see think that I'm Violet from Chicago Fire, but they
know I'm Honoko Nice.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Because that's That's one of the things I was going
to say.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
You know, you guys do such a good job of
bringing this program to life. And again, Chicago Fire, huge,
huge hit. But I wonder if the line gets a
little blurry from time to time for people when they're
watching it to remember that, like, you know, you guys
are portraying these people, but but you're not Violet, You're Honokoh.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Absolutely, I will say there is there is kind of
like a strange boundary between you know, when you see
us in the box in your living room every Wednesday,
and then you see us in person. There can be
such a shift that sometimes people it's like hard to
comprehend that we can meet the same and we can
be different of what they're used to.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
So, oh, I get that. It's the same with radio.
People meet us and they're like, well, I thought you'd
be a lot more handsome, so maybe that's not the same.
So again, Chicago Fire NBC Wednesdays. And what is it
like when you talk to real firefighters and paramedics? Are
they big fans of the show because you guys get
a lot of things right, Oh.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
That's very kind. It's mixed, It's definitely mixed. Some people
are like, thank you for doing such a great job,
and others are like, wow, you make our job look
way more glippy. End that actually is And it is
always such an honor to me, true for responders because
I just have I have such I have such a
respect for what they do. Just doing like four percent
of what they do for pretend has really humbled me
just to think about what it is that they live
(10:29):
day to day.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Well, and I was talking to somebody about this same
exact topic and they're like you know, on the on
the shows, the paramedics, the firefighters, the police, they're always
so beautiful. It's like people want to get in trouble
just to meet these good looking people.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
So that's cute.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
So Chicago Fire on NBC on Wednesdays. And is there
some fun stuff coming up this season and things that
we can talk about or is it all kind of
you know, still under wraps.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
Uh, yeah, I can give you some like some really
baby spoilers want to take it away, I would say that, yeah,
we've bought some fun stuff coming up on Ambus sixty one.
There's some really great storylines coming up. As for the
sake of you know, just I think Lizzie and Violet
finding their footing continuously as a strong partnership and a
new character being shown in there that I think will
just further develop Lizzy's character and give an opportunity for
(11:20):
Violet to continue, you know, learning more and being the
leader that she wants to be. And then I would
also say there is a massive storyline coming up for
all of the f one that I think will really
shake things up. And I think we'll really shake things up,
particularly for Violet as well, and It'll be really interesting
for the audience to see how she handled this opportunity
and if she's able to kind of push back, what
(11:41):
push against, what might it might represent for her.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
And again, like I said, Chicago Fire has got a
huge following, and you were also on Chicago Med and
I don't remember what it was. There was a movie
I think one time that was talking about if you
want to show to be a hit, you have to
base it in Chicago, because all these shows are huge hits.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Yeah, I will say it's been such a treat to
get to know into the city and I think I
think people work really hard to showcase the beauty of
Chicago through these three shows, and that's one of the
strong suits that I think both all three of these
shows have.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
And when you were a little kid, did you always
want to be an actress?
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Is that kind of what you've always wanted to do?
Speaker 5 (12:20):
I think it was something that I discovered I wanted,
But when I was younger, I think I wanted to
be I wanted to be a painter or a nurse
that I wanted to do and I was just so
weirdly I kind of combined the two.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
There you get to be an artistic nurse as an
actress on Chicago Fire, which is really cool.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
Yeah, so I think she'd probably find my job. I
think she think it's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
I think she would too well. Hannako, thank you so
much for your time. I appreciate it so much.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
Oh same here, John, thank you so much again.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Chicago Fire. It is on NBC on Wednesdays.
Speaker 2 (12:51):

Quote of the day. It comes your way at this
time each day. Now and our quote today is from
(13:34):
al Cervik. Do you know who played al Cervik in
the TV show or the movie Caddyshack, Rodney Dangerfield. Oh yeah,
did you not? I didn't know that was his name.
I just knew it was Rodney Dangerfield. Well, he says,
oh is this your wife? A lovely lady? Hey, baby,
you're all right. You must spend something before electricity, saying now, if.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
You had just read the quote, I would have known
exactly who said it.

(14:19):
to me with Heidi Small bppppppeep What do you go
for news today? Heidi?
Speaker 4 (14:24):
There is a spacecraft graveyard in the South Pacific Ocean
known as Point Nemo. It is the furthest placed on
Earth from the land, and it is home to over
three hundred spacecraft and associated space debris, including the Mere
Space station.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Oh that's where they drop it to earth.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
Is that smart? I mean, if we're so concerned about
the health of the ocean, where are we dumping.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Well three in there?
Speaker 4 (14:48):
I think we shouldn't they be taking it out?
Speaker 2 (14:50):
I thought they did. They don't. They just know it's
it's just in the ocean. I didn't know that. Yeah,
that's news to me, And that is also news to me.
Speaker 4 (14:58):

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Fun fact for you, Heidi, what's that John? When dinosaurs
roam the Earth, they lived on every continent, including Antarctica,
so they find fossils everywhere.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Isn't that crazy?
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Yeah, that's kind of cool. Fun fact for a Heidi
what's that, John, To make one kilogram like two point
two pounds of honey, bees have to visit four million flowers,
traveling a distance crazy equal to four times around the Earth.
That's for two pounds of honey. Yeah. Fun fact for
a Heidi.
Speaker 5 (15:55):
What's that?
Speaker 2 (15:56):
A giraffe can clean its ears using its own tongue. Gross,
all right, fun fact for a Heide. Squirrels can belch
now I kind of want that. Fun And one final
fun fact for a Heidi. According to the book, the
joy of cooking one ostrich egg is enough to serve
(16:16):
twenty four people. How wild is that? Wow? That is
a very fun fact. Several fun facts now, you know.
Thanks for listening to the John and Heidi Show. Time
Now for some weird news, and our weird news comes
your way each day at this time. Now, we've made
some changes, We've moved some stuff around, some very positive
comments about the changes. By the way, Birkenstock sandles might
(16:37):
be cool, but they're not works of art, so says
the German court. The company claimed that the classic footwear
should be classified as art, thereby making it protected by
copyright laws, and an effort to stop other manufacturers from
selling knockoff berks. Well, the judge didn't agree, ruling that
the shoes are simply that shoes a practical design, but
(17:00):
it's a shoe. German law distinguishes between design and art,
noting that design serve as a practical purpose, works of
art need to show a certain amount of individual creativity.
Birkenstock had taken three different manufacturers and retailers to court
over their copycat versions of the company's iconic design. So, yeah,
(17:21):
Heidi's going to probably go run right out and buy something.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
Oh I definitely will.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:25):

average office worker spends two hours a day doing this.
(18:08):
I bet I spend more than that I spent. You
spend way less than checking email? Yeah, checking email? How
much time do you spend? Like eight minutes zones? Everyone's
a while. I get a message back from Heidi. I'm like,
I said, that's seven days ago. So yeah, I just
finally opened my email, Like wow, So what you're saying
is if it's urgent, I should just talk to you. Correct.
That is your question of the day.
Speaker 5 (18:29):

It's hard for me to concentrate on scaring lessons when
my brain keeps coming up with ideas about stuff I could,
or that I could combine with others to make new gnarlier.
Even when I or munch it, I get back up
and try again. Is not about being perfect. You'll and
(19:14):
you're will leak out, said Miss Fussbucket. Then how will
you I do get in trouble a lot, and the
worst thing is I can hear my classmates whispering. There
goes bad, Vlad.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
He's such a.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
I'm not trying to, I promise, It's just that when
i'm I am, and is the best way to be.
That's it. Detention, screeches Miss Fussbucket. Then it happened. Now, Vlad,
I don't want to see you at school anymore if
I catch you doing it again, Miss Fussbucket lectured, and
I knew she was serious. I don't know why being
(19:51):
spooky and can't go together just because Miss f doesn't
think so there are both things I can do. Maybe
I can do them at the same time. When we
took a field trip to the Natural History Museum to
look at old bones, I was trying to be on
my best behavior. I really really really was, until I
saw something that gave me a frightful idea. Oh no,
(20:11):
Miss Fussbucket squealed from way down below. Don't you dare?
Those made a terrifying sound as I down the back.
It was awesome. When I got to the I hissed
and screeched and uh screamed all of the people and
(20:33):
they ran away. Then I super slammed into a Vlad, said,
miss Fussbucket.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
You were.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
Vlad the rad Flad the rad cheered my classmates, and
that's how I almost stuck my biggest flad, the red
the and wh who's the author of then bridget Barringer and.

Time now for the list uninnovative inventions. Some inventions that
might certainly have been innovative at the time, maybe, but
they just never caught on. So any idea. Why I
like this one? A neck brush. It looks like a
medieval torture device, but it was created in the nineteen
fifties to clean a child's neck without the use of
soaper water, So they would scrub their neck with this
(21:56):
giant brush. How about an ostrich pillow, perfect for you know,
catching a nap in public if you want to look
like an alien the US their head. Yeah, so they
can and not have people seeing them. Yeah, they can
still see you. Stereo sound vest. Somebody came over this
in nineteen eighty five to give people the opportunity to
(22:18):
listen to music coming out of their vest. Okay, all right.
And the hula chair, invented in two thousand and seven,
introduced itself as a ridiculous exercise solution for people with
a desk job. Imagine sitting at your desk trying to
hula in your hula chair. And the last thing is
the pedallest bike. It's the flizz pedalist bicycle. So you
(22:40):
have to just walk, but you sit on a thing,
so you're just kind of scooting. So oh, I've got
the whole list in the show notes for today at
John anddeidishow dot com show. Thank you for listening to
The John and Heidi Show. Brought to you went part

We always like to wrap things up around here with
good news, and I think this is good news. And
here is the headline. Heidi actor Michael Sheen wipes out
over a million dollars in debt for nine hundred people
using his own money. I yeah, love this, This is
really cool. He's from Wales and he had several families
(23:25):
there that were struggling. He is in movies and TV
shows Twilight and The Good Omens and all that. Anyway,
he cleared a million pounds, which is like one point
two million dollars in debt for nine hundred people using
his own money. He launched a debt acquisition company aimed
at helping those facing financial hardship in South Wales. His
(23:45):
efforts are featured in the upcoming Channel four documentary Michael
Sheen's Secret Million Pound Giveaway, and it sheds light on
how banks and financial institutions profit from people who are
trapped in debt. The shocking thing is that people have
started to have to use credit cards and overdraft fees
just to pay for necessities, he said, rather than luxuries
(24:06):
or anything like that. So the debt that I was
able to buy included credit card debt, overdraft fees, car finance,
that kind of stuff. Okay, And he was able to
buy the debt for pennies on the dollar and like,
wipe it clean. Well, that's dopeful because other other times
people would buy this debt and then they would be
the ones, you know, harassing you to get paid. He
bought it and said, forgiven, you don't have to pay it.
(24:27):
I think it's really really cool.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
