It's Wednesday. My beautiful bride is at my side. Hello, Heidi.
How are you?
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I'm good? How are you?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I'm good. I'm so excited to visit with Blake Clark.
I feel bad that he's not my guest on a
Movie Star Monday, because he absolutely could be on a
Movie Star Monday from things like The water Boy. He's
in the new Happy Gilmour movie. We actually had a
chance to see that.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
Yeah, I enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
That was really good. I watched it twice. I watched
it one and a half times. I fell asleep the
first time, not because it was boring, I was exhausted,
and then everybody's laughing. They woke me up. I'm like,
oh no, I missed it, So then I watched it
again the next day with our son. Anyway, Blake's in
that movie and many others, but he'll be our guest
today to talk about a new show he's on with
Leanne Moore. It's called Leanne and it launches tomorrow I
(01:03):
think on Netflix. Anyway, we'll get all the details from
Blake coming up. Thanks for listening to The John and

Today is cheesecake days. Who doesn't want to celebrate cheesecake?
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:30):
And I look the next couple of days, it's all
high calories.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yeah, there's desserts few. I don't know why. So well,
I found a cheesecake cocktail.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Of course you did.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
It's vanilla vodka, cream, liqueur lemon juice, Graham crackers and
whipped cream. Is sounds heavenly.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
I've got a link to that drink in the show

Now surveys and studies and such. Everybody needs that little
early caffeine jolt to boost themselves in the morning, but
according to research, over time that effect is actually less,
so you get less and less of a boost. So
if you're finding you need to drink more caffeine more
coffee to get the same boost. Some medical experts say
you can reset your tolerance. You know how to do that,
(02:47):
the three one rule, the what now? The three to
one coffee hack involves drinking three says coffee for three
weeks and then take a week off. Okay, so just
don't so, they say at the caffeine free week will
give your body a chance to reset, and then when
you start doing the coffee again, it actually, you know,
turns out to be more effective that way. So I
(03:09):
don't know, I just kind of like, I.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Don't drink it for the boost. I drink favor.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah. I like it the way it is. So, Master
Science and Nutrition Education at American University Dara Ford says
the three to one coffee hack can also result in
one week of withdrawal symptoms every month like headaches and
fatigue and irritability and brain fog. So there's something to
look forward to.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
If that's a problem you may want to lay off
for more than just a week.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah, yeah, there you go. That's all the information in

He passed away in twenty nineteen. He was twenty years

a show on a small television that he was on

day with Heidi Small. What you got for me? Heidi?

Oh yeah, well it's not helpful.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
No, it's not. Okay, here we go.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
You need me to tell a joke for no, I'm good,
okay good.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
I was having dinner with Gary casprof World chess Champion,
and there was a checkered tablecloth. It took him two
hours to pass me the salt.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Oh, she didn't really go to dinner with him.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
I don't know why that one made me laugh so hard,

Time out for the scoop of the day. A study
shows fifteen percent of us order the same thing every
time we go out to eat. I'm looking at you, Heidi?
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Why are you looking at me?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Every Monday, order the exact same thing at the same restaurant.
Don't even pretend you don't. And then she used to know.
She used to always order a chicken sandwich until we
pointed it out, and then she will not order a
chicken sandwich.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Shoe, I still order a chicken sandwiches in a while,
all right, if you grab.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
A chicken sandwich, well, you can't have a chicken sandwich
anytime you want a chicken sandwich. Uber just announced a
new feature. Riders will be able to soon request women drivers.
Just like you can choose an Uber Excel, you'll be
able to set up a women driver preference in the app.
It's not guaranteed, but Uber will do their best to
try to match you with a female driver when possible.
(08:49):
You can even pre schedule rides with that preference. Lady.
Uber is launching first in Los Angeles, Detroit, and San Francisco,
and then we'll roll out across the rest of the
and presumably other countries later. Lift started something similar in
the US last year. Only about twenty percent of Uber
drivers are women, but the company is also letting female
drivers prioritize pick up like to pick up other women
(09:13):
as passages.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Can males say I want a female driver?
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Would that be putting female drivers at risk with somebody
with nefarious.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
I don't know. It says something many have asked for,
especially with ongoing concerns about safety during rides.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
So what about the safety of the driver?
Speaker 2 (09:29):
I agree completely. I don't know the details on that.
It's not in this little tiny article they sent to me,
and there are people much higher up in the Uber
organization than me, considering I'm not connected at all. If
you'd like to know, I'm sure you could google that.

The John and Heidi Show on a Wednesday. Excited a
visit with a very funny Blake Clark. He's a stand
up comic. He's also an actor, and he's a veteran
as well. So thank you for your service. My friend.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
It wasn't my idea I was drafted, but I joined
so I could go to Officer Candidate School. I graduated
from Officer Candidate School and went back to Fort Dick's
for a while, then I went to Namen was infantry
Platinuit at times now and I say, I really did that.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
This isn't a part I played. I did it. Yeah.
The difference is I wasn't going to get canceled over there.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Very true. And people who are listening right now know
you from so many different things like Boy Meets World.
Big fan of that, also a big fan of your
character on Home Improvement, water Boy Shakes the Clown. You
do such a good job of picking interesting characters and
amazing roles.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
Well, they picked me mainly.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
I was just fortunate that I was the right person.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
For the role and the role was right for me.
So my wife said, you're lucky.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
You've played really characters that people like and associate growing
up with, like Boy Meets World and Home Improvement and stuff.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
And now you get to be a character in another
project on Netflix. It's coming out tomorrow. It's called Leanne,
And of course Leanne Morgan is the person to put
this together. She's amazing. What was it like working with Leanne.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
Oh, she's great.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
She's just the sweetest lady, and she's funny, and she's
just really easy going and.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
She works hard.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
I tell you what, she's got more energy now than I.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
I don't have a lot of energy. We never had.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
But she's just a dynamo and she's funny, and she's
caring and she takes care of everybody. And you know,
she's not only the star of the show. She's the producer.
She's a writer, and she's doing stand up, she's doing
she's touring and I don't know where she gets the energy,
(12:04):
but it's it's a great cast. Kristin Johnson plays her sister,
and Ryan Styles plays her ex husband, and Celia Weston
plays her mother my wife, and I play her dad.
And it's just about a woman who has to start
over again at age as a grandmother and all of
(12:28):
a sudden, you know, she's she's back on the on
the dating circle or whatever you want to call it.
And uh, it's it's a very funny, but it's it's
also a sweet show.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
It has a good heart.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
It hits Netflix tomorrow and I'm super excited to see it.
I watched the trailer it looks really really good. We
had a chance to meet Leanne and I had a
chance to watch her perform stand up comedy, and like
you said, very high energy, very funny, and she just
seems like the sweetest lady ever.
Speaker 5 (12:59):
Yeah, she's I mean, just the schedule that she keeps
as would kill me. But I'm a few years older
than he. Actually I play her father, and she has
a grand baby, so I play a great grandfather.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
So I guess if you live long enough, stuff happens.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Absolutely now. Leanne Morgan is not the first comic if
you had a chance to work with. Adam Sandler has
had you in several of his projects. And I watched
an interview where they said, why do you have a
lot of the same people in all of your projects?
And he said, because I can. I think that's the
best answer ever.
Speaker 5 (13:34):
Yes, yep, he's he's fiercely loyal, he's very family oriented,
down to ours.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Just the nicest guy.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
I mean, he's he's Adam and he doesn't have to
be anybody.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
Other than him. Absolutely, And you know, he's a good
he's a good actor.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
He's done stuff that more dramatic, like uncut Gems and
then there's I can't remember the name of the other could.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Even without you. He did a good job, but when
the two of you get to work together, it's just
magic and so much fun.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:07):
Well, I was lucky that we did this movie Coach
Shakes the Clown and we played friends. I'm twenty years
old today and we hit it off and we've been
friends ever since.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Well, I am excited to see LeAnn. It premieres tomorrow
on Netflix. And also Blake. We had a chance to
watch Happy Gilmore Too, and it was such a great experience.
We absolutely love that and so many amazing people in
that and I was like, oh, hey, there's Blake Clark.
I get to talk to him. So I was so
excited to see you there as well. You did a
great job. Thank you for your time today. We appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Thank you very much again.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Our guest today, Blake Clark. You can see him in
the new Happy Gilmore Too, that is streaming right now
on Netflix, and starting tomorrow you'll be able to see
him in a new series called Leanne with Leanne Morgan
and that'll start streaming on Netflix tomorrow. I've got a

so anytime I hear of something unique, it kind of
piques my interest.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
And she's like, we should go there. I'm like why
because it's a hotel filled with creepy clowns. I'm like, no,
we shouldn't go there.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
Well, this one is not a hotel, but it should be.
In Hallam, Pennsylvania. There is a building that's shaped like
a shoe.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Oh okay.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Forty eight millionaire shoe manufacturer mister Haynes built this white
house in the shape of a work shoe as an
advertising gimmick for his company. It was five level working
It's a five level working house twenty five feet high

He'd let his employees come and stay there for anniversaries

and birthdays and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
It's five levels high and it's only twenty five feet high.
That would mean each level is.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Only five Yeah, it says it was a.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Five must be a very short left.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Says is a five level working house.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Okay, we'll go with that.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Twenty five feet high. I don't know it, so it says. Anyways,
he would let his employees stay there for birthdays and anniversaries.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
We have to crawl in that one. Sorry.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
But he also offered the house tony Honeymoon cup of
one time because they sold his shoes in their store.
That's cool, But when you stay there, ights in the
shoe included full maid service, a butler, a cook, and
a chauffeur.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Well, that's really cool.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
Over the years, the shoe house has changed hands several times.
It was an ice cream parlor for a while, but
in nineteen eighty seven his granddaughter bought it back and
turned it into a museum dedicated to her grandfather. I
love but it should be an airbean.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
That would be really cool. I'd stand a shoe, that'd
be fun.
Speaker 3 (18:23):
So, I mean, I don't know. I don't I didn't
double check the measurements that are in this book.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
You should be embarrassed. But maybe maybe each level they
might not be stacked on top of each other. So
maybe there's a level here and a level here, and
there's you know whatever.

It's ship like a boot, so it can't be a Yeah,
I don't know.

Fun fact for your Heidi, Both US and Russian militaries
have trained dolphins. They can be used for rescuing lost

fun fact for you, Heiding, The word infantry sounds like
infant because in ancient times, an army's infantry typically consisted
of soldiers too young or too inexperienced to ride a

the infant tree.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
That's fascinating. I love that fact.

(20:47):
be futuristic, but when they mess up, the big question
is who takes the blame. The question hit TikTok recently
when a man got stuck behind a waym car in
San Francisco. He got out to con the driver, only
to realize there is no driver. Moments later, the weimo
botched a left turn and got pulled over by a cop.
But it turns out in California, autonomous vehicles cannot get
(21:11):
moving violations because there's no human to charge. Well that's
gonna change now in twenty twenty six, police will finally
be able to ticket the car company themselves. Until then,
robocars get a clean get away.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
So I didn't even know that. I thought there had
to be somebody in the vehicle.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
No, there's this weimo it's through Uber. I believe they've
got some driver those cars. Oh yeah, I've seen several
videos online where people are going somewhere and they're like, uh,
just got picked up and there's no driver. And my
car's driving me with no driver. So wow, It's not
something I would be super comfortable with, but it's the

(22:34):
Only five percent? No hamsters, no birds. Five percent of
people are deathly afraid of birds. I remember when we
were on our honeymoon. Was it on our honeymoon, it
was our one year anniversary. There were some birds that
were they were swooping down grabbing fries off the ground.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
Some guy losses yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
I took a French fry and I threw it not
towards people, but way away from people. And this guy
starts yelling at me. And then I stood up and
he realized I was much bigger than him. And I
wasn't being rude. I just stood up because the sun
was shining in my eyes and I was looking up
at him. So when I stood up, then all of
a sudden, he was really really nice. I was like, uh,
he's like, you should come see me singing tonight. I'm
a lounge singer in the last and he was too,
(23:17):
went in and it was fun. I just remember we
met him because I threw a French fry and he
was gonna kill me over it. I'm like, dude, Calm down,

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Really funny story. Oh the other day. So there's a
Louisiana governor named Bobby Lindell Jndall who announced in June
of twenty fifteen that he was going to run for president. Okay,
someone who definitely didn't like him started a Facebook page
was called can this crawfish get more supporters than Bobby Jindle?
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Oh my goodness?
Speaker 3 (24:11):
And he uploaded a photo of a boiled crawfish?
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Did he get more sport.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
People clicks like on the photo that the creator decided
to enter CB Crawfish B Crawfish in the presidential race,
where he continued to take pots at jingle shots at
jingle so one of Jendall's taglines. His slogan was Tanned,
rested and Ready, and CB Crawfish's tagline was red boiled
(24:40):
and Ready. Oh my goodness, No, it did not get
more likes. One of the high points of the Although
he did not win, obviously his bid for the presidency,
he did beat the Crawfish. He accumulated a total of
two hundred and fifty thousand followers, and CBE Crawfish topped
out at twenty five thousand.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Okay, well he didn't beat the crop. Well there you
go so.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Very close.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
I certainly can't blame the guy for trying. So what
a weird thing to do, all right? That is something
special with Heidi Small.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Time now for the list. I'm going to go through
this today and tomorrow because it's infamous. Last words What
would be your dying wish? Here's some odd last requests
from well known people. Harry Houdini. Okay, so these aren't
necessarily their last words, but they're The famous escape artist
instructed that he wanted to be buried in his trick
coffin that he used in his magic act. And he
(26:07):
wanted the letters that his mother had written to him
tucked beneath his head. That's kind of cool. Yeah, Bill Shakespeare,
you might know Ms. William He wanted his oldest daughter Susannah,
to inherit his favorite bed. He left his wife his
second best bed. Does that seem weird?
Speaker 3 (26:25):
That's funny.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
We'll do one more today and then I've got all
of these posted in the show notes, so we'll finish
them tomorrow. Eleanor Roosevelt. Fearful of being buried alive, the
former First Lady requested that her major veins be slashed
to eliminate the possibility of regaining consciousness before her cremation.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
That's horrifying.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Yeah, it's like, Okay, when I'm done, do this to me,
just to make sure I'm really dead. Okay, And that's
not the weirdest. I've got the whole list in the
show notes for today at John anddeidishow dot com. Thank
you for listening to the John and Heidie Show. You
went part by my pillow dot com promo code happy.

be sure to check it out now MyPillow dot com
use promo code happy. We always like to wrap things
up around here with good news, and I think this
is good news. This is kind of cool. From Austin, Texas,
a Korean restaurant in Austin is offering free meals to
everybody once a month, no strings attached. How amazing is
(27:28):
that cool? So everybody that wants to can walk through
the doors at this restaurant once a month and eat
for free. Korea House. It's a beloved, family owned restaurant
run by poke Cha Kim, officially known as Mama Kim.
She's been serving the Austin community since nineteen eighty eight.
Now on the first Wednesday of every month, they serve
(27:49):
more than a meal. They serve kindness and hope and
a warm welcome to everyone. They say, every first Wednesday
of the month, everyone eats free. That's right, everyone, every race,
every gender, every real and every age. All are welcome
to dine and share a free meal with us, no
strings attached. Says feeling lonely, struggling lately, low in spirit,
please come. Our hope is to provide a safe and
(28:11):
peaceful space for everyone to leave with a full heart,
a warm soul, and a full belly. The inspiration behind
this monthly acted generosity stems from Mamma Kim's own journey.
She stepped away from the restaurant for five years. She
experienced profound spiritual healing and she has a renewed calling
to do God's work. So when she came back to
(28:31):
the restaurant, she said, I want to find a way
to channel that healing into something tangible for the whole community.
And they've got just a really neat mission. I think
this is a really cool thing. It says, in a
world often defined by division and need, Korea House is
choosing unity and generosity, one free meal at a time.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
That's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
I think it's neat. I've got a link to that story.
And she looks like an absolute sweetheart and her whole
family everybody there. Again, what a great idea. And I
understand that's not something everybody can do, but if you're
in a position to do that, wouldn't it be cool
to be able to go, hey, we're going.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
To just do that, ye.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
And I hope people step sorry. I hope people step
up and say, hey, I'd like to contribute to help
keep this going as long as it can possibly go.
I think it's cool. I've got a link to it
in the show notes for today at John dtheidishow dot com.
