joining me today. Deb Miller is the author of a
book it's called Forget the fairy Tale and Find Your Happiness.
So think about how many people they have kind of
this vision in their mind where they're like, this perfection, gotfect.
Everything's got to be exact, and sometimes you know, in
(00:47):
the amount of time that you're waiting for perfection, you
pass up things that could have been even more perfect.
So I'm excited to chat with her about this. It's
a new book that is helping people, and if they
can help you, then that might be kind of a
cool thing. I will chat with Deb Miller Forget the
Fairytale and Find Your Happiness, Coming your way in a

have perfected because eventually somebody is going to ask for It.
Is called the Dark and Stormy and it's got rum,
lime juice, ginger beer and a limegarnish. Looks yummy.

Well, I've got a link to that drink in the

Now surveys and studies and sach turns out your body
has a built in beat and it might help ease
your pain. Researchers at Montreal's McGill University found music played
at the same tempo as your natural internal rhythm, called
your spontaneous production rate, can actually reduce pain. So doctor Roy,
(02:44):
led the study, said the idea was simple, match music
to your body's pace and it might have a pain
relieving effect it worked. This could also be some big
news for the estimated one in five people who have
chronic pain. Roy's lab is exploring other non drug outs
like exercise, mindset, and even distractions. Because if you can
believe it, playing chess might help you if you love
(03:07):
the game, so that'll help you with like ease your pain.
If you're enjoying playing the chess. The next step understanding
how it all works biologically, then figuring out the best
way to bring music as medicine to more people. In
some cases, it could be as easy as starting up
your favorite playlist. So how cool is that? I wonder
what my pace is. I hope it's not like, you know,
(03:27):
something really fast or something really slow. I need something
right in the middle. What's John doing out there? He's

American Saga. What about water World?
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Oh that was terrible.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Honestly, I didn't think it was bad. I know everybody
loved to hate it. I'm like, I didn't think it

This is actually a quote, but it's a very funny one,
all right. Always be sincere, even if you don't mean it,
Harry S.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Truman, Oh, Harry say, that's kind of funny. Yeah, I
love it. Always be sincere even if you don't even

Speaker 3 (06:42):
It's not surprising at all that it comes from a politician.

Time now for the scoop of the day. A new
report says the most watched cable program of twenty twenty
five was Fox News. So that wouldn't that be a
cable channel? What why? I say, it's the most cable program,
So I guess maybe that's just the news on Fox's
I don't know either way. Here's the thing I'll say.
I know people who love that channel. I know people
who hate that channel. I know people who used to
(07:42):
love that channel that now hate that channel. So I'm
not gonna say a word because here's the thing. I
don't even have cable, so I don't watch any of it.
Last week, Kim Kardashian dropped her new Skims product. It's
a forty eight dollars seamless sculpt face wrap that looks
like part of a spa treatment. Parable lecter sold out
almost instantly. Designed to be worn while you're sleeping or lounging,
(08:05):
the rap promised smooth and promises to smooth and tighten
your face without surgery, using buzzwords like collagen yarn, but
plastic surgeons are not convinced. They're warning that compression alone
will not deliver lasting results, and the new product didn't
get by Hannibal's keen eye. On Thursday, actor Anthony Hopkins
posted on Instagram sporting a new face wrap and saying,
(08:28):
in lecture's eerie voice, hello kid, I'm already feeling ten
years younger. He captioned his posts love that. Don't be
afraid to come over for dinner. I don't understand what
in the world is going on in that.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Like and thing is younger.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
If it works for you, do it. If it doesn't, don't.
I mean, at the end of the day, you do
what you feel comfortable doing. But I think most of
the time I think you're far more beautiful than you realize.
Like my bride here, you're beautiful and you always like
I got a put some cream and I gotta do this.
I'm like, you don't need to do any of that.
You look great the way you are. I don't do
any of that stuff. My face looks like I used Catchersmith,
So that's probably not helping at all. Scoop of the

Excited to visit right now with Deb Miller and she's
the author of a new book. It's called Forget the
(09:34):
fairy Tale and Find Your Happiness. First of all, Deb,
how are you doing.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
I'm just so happy to be here. John. I wrote
this book to help women stop waiting for their happy
ending and start writing one, so, you know, a fairy
tale that uniquely fits their own life and not follow
that cookie cutter script or try on to wear a
one size fit all glass slippery that doesn't really fit.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Yeah, yeah, well I love that. That's really cool. And
how long does it to put a book like this together?
When did you start working on this?
Speaker 4 (10:03):
This was a pandemic project, so I guess the short
answer is five years. You know how you're hear of
blizzard babies that come out nine months after you know,
a blizzard. Well, there are a lot of books, especially memoirs,
coming out five years after the pandemic. So what does
that show you were we seened out our closets and
when we were looking for something to get started on.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
And the thing that's really fun this what a great
way to remember the pandemic. You've got something positive that
came from it. I know a person who lost one
hundred pounds during the pandemic. They're like, you know what,
I'm going to do this. I've always wanted to do it,
and I've never taken the time, you know. So this
is the silver lining and that dark cloud that we
all lived through. So I'm glad that you found something
(10:45):
positive to do and now other people can read this
and have a positive outcome as well, which I think
is a really cool thing five years later.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
I love that Yes about the person losing the weight.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Yeah, super, I'm looking right now. This book is available
on the internet. Did you know that people can buy
your book?
Speaker 4 (11:02):
You know, they can buy this book, John anywhere you
want to buy books from your favorite indeed publisher or
excuse me store, or you can buy it, you know,
from Amazon to Apple, iTunes and everywhere in between. There's
even an audio book, so I love that.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
And again, the book is out right now, and if
people are wanting to get this, let's talk about who
this is written for. Is there a specific person in mind?
Is it specifically for like a certain age group.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Well, you know, I started thinking that baby boomer women
would be the target audience, similar to myself, women that had,
you know, grown up with the Disney damsels in distress
and you know, transformed like the characters did to the
bells and areels, much more adventurous and then had become
warrior princesses like Milana, you know, later in life like
(11:53):
I had. But I teach. I'm a professor. I'm a
retired corporate executive, but currently I teach market at a
couple universities, Perdue over in the Midwest and Washington State
out in the Seattle area. And so I found that
my students actually really like the book. A number of
them have been beta readers, and I thought, and what's
(12:15):
coming out in some of the reviews are that every
woman should read this book.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
That's really good. And again it's called forget the fairy
tale and find your happiness. And when it comes right
down to it, so many times we have this preconceived
notion of this is what my life is going to be.
And sometimes people are really sad because the life that
they live is not the life that they thought. But
they might be really happy if they just lived the
life they have and realize that, hey, the life you
(12:40):
have is pretty cool too.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
You know, the book title is really a spoiler of
what the takeaway is from the book. So if you
can whether it's people, doesn't even have to be women,
if you can forget that fairy tale script that society
tells you to check off these boxes like have a
certain job by this age, or get married by this age,
or kids by this age or whatever, just you need
(13:02):
to carve out your own path. And that the second
half of the title, that's where you find your happiness.
And so I want to give people permission to go
do that and actually challenge them to take charge of
their happiness.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
When you were like ten years old, is there a
dream that you had? Was it to be an author
or what was your dream as a young little kid
back in the day.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
You know, I've met a lot of authors through this
whole book journey, and most of them did say yes,
I always wanted to be an author. But I would
say the young, the ten year old Deb Miller would
be a little bit surprised by this, maybe because she
was a reader. She was the kind that was under
the covers at night with the flashlight and got in
(13:44):
trouble for reading at night. But probably didn't imagine she'd
write one. But I did write the sixth grade play
that was performed, so maybe there was a hint of
that somewhere along the way. But she'd start practicing her
author's signature for signing books. That's what neural Deb would
be doing if she heard that again.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
The book is called Forget the fairy Tale and Find
Your Happiness. It's available right now. The author Deb Miller,
has been our guest. Deb thank you so much for
taking the time to chat.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Thank you, John, appreciate Hi to Honey.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
I will absolutely do that. And again, if you would
like to find this book, it's available online. I've got
a link to it in the show notes for today
at John Anddheidishow dot com. Jace Medical has some exciting news.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
That would have been from Coming to America the World.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
How did you remember that? It's one of my favorite

still laughing at this silly that I have. I got
some fun things coming up here.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
So the Peanuts Gang, you know, Snoopy, Charlie Brown, all
of those, Yeah, we had debuted in nineteen fifty. But
the Charlie Brown TV specials included no actual laughs. Nice,
you ever noticed that when you're watching the movies there's
no laugh tracks.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Yeah? I didn't know that, but that's kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
That's because Charles Shore Schultz insisted that people be able.
He didn't want people to be told when to laugh.
We wanted them to laugh on their own, laugh spontaneously.
And the CBS Network did create a version of the
Charlie Brown Christmas with the laugh tracks in case Schultz
ever came around to their way of thinking, but he didn't. Nice,
(16:33):
and the laugh tracks were never included.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
I didn't realize that until you said it, But now
I'm going to pay attention.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Yeah, anyways, that's news to me.

It costs over twenty million dollars to build the average
Formula one race car twenty million for one car. Yeah.
(17:34):
Fun fact for a hiding. Laser tattoo removal procedures can
also remove birthmarks, so if you've got a birthmark somewhere.
They're like, I don't like that. You can have that

it's because they don't. They don't put in the effort.

They're sleek, they're self aiming units. They're engineered to intercept
tossed items that we're gonna miss, and they can handle

Speaker 3 (21:58):
No, Tapa teacher arrests for drunkenly letting a fourteen year

Speaker 3 (22:05):
This is why I could not be a teacher, because
I would do those kinds of things.

And the last one is Cape Coral off the grid.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Oh did it heal? Or apparently not?
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Or it wouldn't have been a headline.

They used to be free, but now they're more expensive
than the phone sometimes, so you get like cases and
chords all that. I think some of that stuff. I
haven't bought a phone in a while. Maybe note of
it comes with it anymore. Driving on the highway, they're
(23:32):
like tolls bleep me off. It's not about the money,
it's about having to stop and count off the change.
Another of these are formerly free things, according to BuzzFeed,
buying tickets the convenience fee of nine thousand one dollars. Yes,
I used to be able to get extra garlic cups
for free anytime I got pizza now they charge a
dollar a cup. So I've not ever tried any of that,
(23:54):
so I guess I wouldn't know. Plastic grocery bags, so
apparently they're places that charge for that. Now they're like, oh,
you want to bag, You're gonna pay for that. Airplane food,
they said, I remember when meals were free. Now you
have to buy them. I think some meals are still free, aren't.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
They On international flights, I think they're free. But now
if you're on there, if you want something to eat,
they come by. You've got a little menu in the
back of the thing that order from.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Maybe I should have paid attentions air in your tires.
I remember when I was a kid, it was always
free air, and now there are some places that have
free air, but I've seen it where you got to
pay like a buck yea to air up your tires.
Content in games, there's all these up charges playing video games.
They're like, oh, hey, you can pay for this, and
hey you can skip this level by paying for this,
and they say everything on the internet, especially news articles.
(24:41):
You click on to read a story, you got the
first five sentences, then you got to go to the Yes.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
That drives me insane.
Speaker 2 (24:48):

doesn't have an ending. It's because I didn't pay the paywall.

think this is good news. The headline Stranger helps find
(25:17):
and reunite a woman with wedding rings she lost on
the beach. So what started out is kind of a
sad day, it turns into a really nice story. Laura
Emmanuel is her name. She lost two rings on a
beach in New Jersey, but thanks to the kindness of strangers,
what began as a moment of panic turned into an
incredible story of generosity and hope. She was searching she
(25:39):
couldn't find it. She reached out to a guy named
Jeffrey log L a a g He's with Cape May
Fire Lieutenant, but he also runs a volunteer unit called
Lost Ring and Jewelry Recovery Service.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
That's cool.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
He went out looking, but it was really windy the
first night that he was out, so he didn't find anything.
But the cool thing is the next day one of
the rings was found by a lady on the beach.
So that's kind of cool. With hope renewed, this gentleman
returned to the beach to try again. This time he
found the wedding band. Nice said. It wasn't where the
first one was found, but eventually it was uncovered a
little closer to the water. He retrieved the first ring
(26:14):
from the lady that got the ring, and then he
reunited both of them. Oh that's so great, she said.
I didn't believe it. Uh, just the emotion and the
happy tears. It's been recovered by this stranger. She was
so happy.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
I love these stories that actually happens quite a bit.
People find rings on the beaches and they'll post them online.
They'll reunite them with the owners.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
I love that well. And the thing is, you never
know who to believe, because like I've seen these stories
where people go, hey, I found this, and there's like
six people go yeah, that's mine.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
Well you would have to have, like, I'm sure you've
got photos. If it's a wedding ring, you've got a
photo of it on your hand.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
But think about the people who just pretend that it's here.
Oh no, that's mine. That's fine.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
A horrible people.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Yeah that looks like mine. Yeah, don't be a horrible person.
That's right, all right, time, say goodbye, Heidie, goodbye, everybody.
