pushing them to go on dates and anyway, we're going
to chat about they went on a date and then
it was kind of awkward and it was kind of weird,
and they're won.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
All dates are awkward and weird.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, this one was a very competitive guy. They were
playing pool and he was getting home.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, She's like, you go away from him. It's like
a different person. So we're going to chat about that.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
I love it. It's my favorite and so I really
don't have anything to send you because it's just red
wine days. Well, have some red wine and celebrate.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
I don't have a link to that drink.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
But I had some last night for my birthday. Was lovely.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Why I thought maybe you'd feel older today. All right,
that is today's reason to party on the John and
Heidi Show.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Now surveys and studies and such. A new study highlights
how artificial intelligence or AI is reshaping academic honesty. About
one in five students admit to using AI to cheat.
Research surveyed researchers rather surveyed thousands of high school, college
students and high school students in the US. They found
that AI tools from essay generators to problem solvers. They're

(02:42):
a bigger part of the academic toolkit now than ever before.
While some students report using AI from minor shortcuts, others
rely on it for their complete assignment, raising concerns about
fairness and learning outcomes. Educators are considering how to respond,
balancing the potential benefits of AI assisted at learning with
the risk of misuse. The study also found the students

(03:02):
who cheat with AI often justify it as a way
to manage heavy workloads, suggesting that pressures and expectations may
be driving this growing trend. By the way, well two
thirds of Americans sixty seven percent believe teachers are not
prepared to handle AI in the classrooms, and even higher
percentage of educators agree. Seventy percent say yeah, we're not ready.

(03:23):
So I don't know what the right answer is, but
I know it's there. Here's another way to look at it.
I had somebody that made this case on the Internet.
They said, when calculators came out, they let you use
calculators to do math because it's a tool. AI is
a tool just like a calculator, So get over it.
I'm like, yeah, depends on what you're doing. Yeah, all right.

to reunite with some of her Glee cast members. In
one of the episodes, Mark Hamill says he was approached
to appear in the infamous body horror movie The Human
Centipede Part two. He said no, then later found out
what it was and he goes, oh my god, thank you,

(04:33):
I didn't do that. Dame Helen Merrin believes James Bond
should be played by a man. She said, I'm a feminist,
but I think James Bond needs to be a man.
So I thought that was kind of interesting. I agree
with that though, and she's like, it's a legacy. Otherwise,
just make it a different carrecter.

(05:56):
They just have heads. That's it. That seems kind of
but we don't know everything, but now we know this.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Time out for the scoop of the day. Studies from
Sweden and Japan found that cats are able to mimic
their owner's accents by adjusting their own vocal pattern to
match the tone in the rhythm of their humans native language.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Oh that's weird.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Japanese cats often now in short, gentle bursts, while American
cats tend to use longer, more drawn out maows. So
I wonder if cats down south have like Southern drawls?
Do you think? I don't know, that's kind of weird.
Australian researchers have found that people with strong mental well
being usually have about five reliable friends, while those who

(07:53):
struggle with their mental health have an average of just
over three. That gap might sound small, but in real
life it's huge. It could be the difference between feeling
like there's always somebody you can call and experience a
dwindling mental list of names when things start to unravel.
Researchers say the data shows that many of us probably
already know this instinctively, but sometimes forget. Human connection is

(08:16):
not an option, not an optional extra. It is vital.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
It is very absolutely is.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
But half of people in the study said that they're
unsure how to talk about mental health. Many stay silent
to avoid burdening others. Small acts like checking in and
asking hey you okay, are sending a message. It can
make a huge difference. And I think that's a good thing.
And I'll tell you who is really good at this,
My beautiful bride Heidi over here. You have like a
second sense about this. The number of times that she

(08:42):
has reached out to somebody and said, hey, you know what.
I don't know why, but I was just thinking of you.
And they'll say, well, you know what, it's really weird
and I'm going through this major thing and it's like
God places their name.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Ye say, it's not me, it's not mice, but sens.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
It's just amazing. The number of like how many.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
Times time all the time.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
She'll she'll be like, I wonder what's going on there?

Speaker 3 (09:02):
I wonder And it's always people that I haven't spoken to,
for like girl that I knew from high school. I
was like, I'm supposed to call her and I sent
her a message and she was like, oh, thank you
so much for me and my childhood. Doctor. Yeah, I
was so he was going through something and he said,
do you have no idea how much I needed to
hear that. Thank you so much. I mean, it's just.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
It's when you feel like that, when you feel something
tugging at your heart, to call somebody, call them, call them,
just do it. Scoopa the day on The John and

(09:55):
All right, I'm excited to see what Heidie has to
say about this. Here we go, Dear John. I'm almost
thirty and I've been single for a few years. My
family's been pushing me to go on some dates, so
I opened an account on a dating app. I won't
mention which one, because I don't think it's their fault.
Things didn't go well. I saw a guy who looked familiar.
Turns out we went to high school together back in
elementary school. So we talked on FaceTime before the date

(10:19):
and everything was cool. Then we went to the movies
and things were still good. Dinner was normal, but after
dinner we went to a little neighborhood bar. There was
a pool table and he and I were playing. I
was goofing around, but he was getting mad that I
was not being more serious. Then some of his friends
showed up. They wanted to play a game of pool
against us. I said I really didn't want to, but

(10:40):
then we did, and I wish I would have just left.
At this point, he became very intense and incredibly competitive.
That's when red flags started popping up. He took the
game way too seriously. We won, Thank goodness. I don't
know how he would have acted if we had lost.
After the pool incident, he took me home and he
was super sweet again, almost like twompletely different people. I'm

(11:02):
not sure what to do. I avoided him this week
because I'm at my cousin's wedding, but next week I'll
be home and it'll be back to normal. I'm trying
to decide if I want to go out with him
again after seeing this side of him. Is it weird
that he got so competitive? Is that normal? Should I
go on another date? Signed single but not desperate? What
do you think, Heidi?

Speaker 3 (11:22):
I think if he's got a temper like that that
shows up just when he's playing games, when he's at
the point where he's still trying to impress you, Yeah,
when he's done trying to impress you as much, things
could take a turn for the worse.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
See, I'm not very competitive.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
So I would I would avoid this this gentleman. Yeah,
I'd move on.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
One of the things. I would say, if everything else
is good, but that's the one thing that's not good,
then have the discussion with him and just go Okay.
Here's my only concern. I think you're sweet. I think
you're awesome. We've known each other since elementary school. It's
been great to reconnect. You know, I don't know the
way you were acting when we were playing pool like
that concerns me. I just think if you're open about it,
because he might maybe the reason he was super like

(12:08):
it sounded like he was kind of competitive, but then
those guys showed up. It might have been something with
one of those guys where he and that guy have
some sort of beef, you know, and some people call
it billiard, some call it pool, you know, but but
maybe it has to do with that. Find out if
that's so.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Challenge him to rematch kick his button, see how he does,
and if it's bad, dump him. If he's fine with it, then.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Maybe mini golf and see how he is at mini golf.
Do a little the one on one basketball, see how
he is there. Maybe it's just that one game.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
You know.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
I don't know how competitive he is, but you know,
there are times where being competitive can be good.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
You know.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
I know people who are super competitive, like in their business,
in their work, and they excel, they do really, really
really well. I've never been a super competitive guy. I've
never been one. Like when we play games, if I win,
I win. If I don't, I don't, I really don't care.
And if somebody else I congratulate them. I'm I'm just
as happy for them to win as I would have
been if I won. Yeah, because to me, it's like

(13:06):
it's about playing the game and spending time together. But
if you're the kind of person that you need to win,
that's kind of an issue. So, you know, this could
even maybe be something for people who even they're not
the one that wrote the letter. If they're going, hey,
that that kind of describes me. If you notice people
don't go on second dates with you just said because

(13:28):
this dude might be listening to if you would like
to chime in with some advice, I would love that,
and you could give her advice. We'll go through the
questions again. Is it weird that he got so competitive?
I don't know if that's weird. I don't know if
it's normal, because then it says is it normal? Should
I go on another date?

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Heidi says no, unless you're gonna kick his button a sport.
You're super super good at a sport. Challenge him to that.
See how he handles it when you beat him. Yeah,
and then if it's bad, then you know, okay, I
can't stay with this guy if he can handle it
like a champ. Maybe it was something with his buddies.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Yeah again, I think you should give them a second chance. Again,
this is coming from John. If everything else was awesome,
because it sounded like it was great. This was great,
that was great. Then the one weird red flag was
the competitiveness while they were playing pool.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
But on the same token, anger is a problem.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
I can tell you back when I was young and
I dated somebody who we were playing pool in her
hometown and she took a pool queue and broke it
over a guy's back, and I broke up with her
shortly after that because I was like, that was not good.
He didn't do that at least, so at least have
that going for you. If you'd like to chime in
with some advice for single but not desperate, you can
do that on our Facebook page Facebook dot com slash

When hikers reported hearing repeated cries for help. The team

They split into search parties to comb the w Soon
they discovered the discressed distress call came from a man

who was camping alone who had been passionately singing along
to Nickelback songs. Yeah, the manager said, there's a there's
a line in the song that he said. They said
he wasn't in trouble unless you count his singing. But
there's a line in the song where it sounds like
he's like shouting for help.

talking about? Three minutes in the nineties, twenty three minutes now.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
TikTok, TikTok. You're out of time. How long after the
schedule time a movie actually starts. So in the nineties,
if it was going to be a seven thirty movie,
movie was on, it's seven thirty three, and now it's
seven fifty three.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Interesting.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Yeah, that's why I've never been to a little.

Time now for something special with Heidi Small. What do
you have for me? Heidi?

Speaker 3 (22:14):
You know I love my tattoos. Yes, you have a bunch.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
She does more than we should mention.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
I found some historical ink, oh from our founders and
that sort of thing. Other people that are you know,
big that we would know their names that that have ink.
So Andrew Jackson okay, he had a tomahawk tattoo on
his inner thigh.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
President Andrew Jackson.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Isn't that crazy?

Speaker 2 (22:43):
The dude on the twenty Dollars Bill? Okay?

Speaker 3 (22:46):
James K. Polk had a tattoo of a Chinese character
that translates to eager.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
At least that's what they told him.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
A yeah, exactly. Thomas Edison he had five dots in
a quinsnox pattern, four dots forming a square with a
fifth in the center on his forum.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
So like a dice like you'd see basically number five
on a dice.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
Yeah, Theodore Roosevelt had his family crest on his chest.
And this one is not like a founder, but the
founder of Macy's. His name is R. H. Macy. He
had a red star tattooed on either his hand or
his farm. There's still some debate on where it was located,
but that tattoo became the inspiration of the red Macy

(23:33):
star that's used in their logo today.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
How neat is that?

Speaker 3 (23:36):
Isn't that fun?

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Well?

Speaker 2 (23:37):
There you go, something special. Yeah, thank you, I appreciate that.
Thanks for listening to The John and Heidi Show.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Time now for the list. Toronto's Canadian National Exhibition has
started not too long ago. On this page it says
it started today, but it's been going for a bit
now because I've had this for a while. Here's what
we're going to talk about. We're going to talk about
some of the wild foods you can find there this year.
Chicken nugget cookies. Yeah, a whole chicken nugget baked inside

(24:35):
a cookie, served with a smoky barbecue sauce. So that
sounds really weird, but you know.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
What, our son would try it.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
I would try it too. Deep Fried watermelon. Yeah, everything's
deep fried. So here's your chance to find out if
this is good. They say surprisingly refreshing and savory. Deep
fried pizza slice is on a stick. Experience multiple flavors
of deep fried pizza slices on a stick, including creamy, garlic,
hot honey, and sweet and spicy. Baked coone a puffy

(25:05):
pastry cone filled with passionate flake ice cream and drizzled
in maple timset glaze or typic glaze, wrapped in spicy,
have an air of bacon cotton candy, and crowned with
a butter tart.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
It was sounding good until they got you went.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
A little too far with that. I was in and
what I can my favorite on a list you've heard of?
The foot long right? Yeah, this is a two foot
long a two foot hot dog. Yeah, it's exactly what
it sounds like. A hot dog that is twenty four
inches long for fifty five dollars. Whoa yeah. And our
final one on here fruity pebble corn dog. So they
take a Korean style corn dog and they top it

(25:41):
with fruity pebble cereal icing so.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
And icings cereal and icing so they.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Frost it and roll it in fruity pebbles. Not for me.
That is the list on The John and Heidi Show Show.

wrap things up around here with good news. And by golly,
I think we got some hero smashes a window to
save a woman from a sinking car and he got
her just in time.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Harrison County, Tennessee, inspiring people nationwide after This video has
now gone viral on social media. The hero in this
story is a twenty two year old EPB employee, Troy Plemons.
Timing and faith placed him exactly where he needed to be.
He says, he said, I think God put me here.
Plemons had been between job sites and he stopped by

(26:40):
his shop to grab some supplies. Then the new route
to get back took him to exactly where he needed
to be at exactly when he needed to be there,
right as a woman's vehicle was filling with water because
she had gone off the road and was like in
floodwater and she was starting to sink. At first, he
and others tried to use a rope to reach her

(27:00):
and like pull the whole vehicle. That didn't work, so
then he was like, you know what, I need to
get her out of here, but the windows were stuck,
so he had to break out the windows, and he
said she was very brave. He later learned that her
son reached out personally to thank him for his bravery.
So how cool is that? And there's a video of
this young man doing what he does to save this person.
So yeah, he smashed out a window and yanked her

(27:22):
from a car. Hero. Hero, absolutely hero. So good job
to you, young man, Thank you for doing what you're doing.
And I wish blessings head your way. That is very
very cool. So I think you should say goodbye Heidi,
goodbye Heide, goodbye everybody. Thank you for listening to The
