Speaker 2 (01:29):
Oh, don't be taken any swinging.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
He doesn't love punch, Oh that kind of punch. Yes,
I love punch, but typically when you want punch, you
have to make a giant bowl of it.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yeah, punch bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
I found a punch cocktail, so you can make.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Just one if you want, want one punch at a time.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Yes. So it's got light rum, dark rum, pineapple juice,
orange juice, lime juice, grenadine, and a cherry for garnish.
But it's in just a single serving size.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
So instead of a punch, is it called a poke.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
It's like sure, John.
Speaker 2 (01:56):

Now, surveys and studies and such, Japanese researchers are advancing
a groundbreaking treatment that could allow humans to regrow teeth. Yeah.
Unlike bones, which can heal themselves, teeth cannot regenerate once
damaged or lost. But now a scientist at Kitano Hospital
in Osaka is testing an experimental drug designed to stimulate
(02:55):
natural tooth growth.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Oh, that's fascinating.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Human clinical trials or under which, if successful, could transform
dental care by restoring teeth rather than replacing them artificially.
Researchers hope the drug could be available by twenty thirty.
So would you want to grow another tooth or would
you rather go just put in a fake one?
Speaker 7 (03:16):
I'm good.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
I guess I'd rather have my actual teeth than because
I have a crown on one tooth and I don't
like it.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
It's better than olden times when they put in like
horse teeth and stuff.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
That's true.

Before there was Psycho, before the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, before
Silence and the Lambs, there was ed Geen in real

Heidi, did you know it rains methane on Saturn's largest moon? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:38):
I don't know how anybody would know that.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Somehow they know. Titan is the only moon in our
Solar system with a dense atmosphere and the only body
except Earth with liquid rivers, lakes, and seas fed by rainfall.
This rainfall is not water, though, it's liquid methane. So yeah,

Speaker 3 (06:27):
I visited my new friend in his apartment. He told
me to make myself at home, so I threw him out.
I hate having visitors.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Geez, that's not nice. It's also not true. She didn't
really do No, I did not do that. No, these
jokes are not as good as the old jokes. Is
this a new book?
Speaker 3 (06:43):
No, Well, it is a different It is a different,
different source.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
You're dipping from a different joke. Well the other joke,
well was so much better.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Well there was only so many, There was like twenty
five on there.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
All right, Well we'll see if we can get some
jokes for Heidi. That is the joke of the day
on the John and Heidi Show.

Time now for the scoop of the day. A study
found forty six percent of us sleep in a bed
with a pet. Actually we do. We've got two pets.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
We do.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
And if Cassie ever leaves the room in the middle night,
because sometimes she does, and she goes out and sleeps
in her kennel, I will wake up and go out
and pick her up and make her come back into
the bedroom.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
I think she's telling you, I don't want to sleep
any don't want you to listen. That's why she growls
at me. I don't even want a beer.
Speaker 6 (07:53):
What are you doing?
Speaker 7 (07:55):
All right?
Speaker 2 (07:55):
And Lego has unveiled what they say is the most
expensive set ever, the Ultimate Collection series Star Wars Death Star.
It costs about one thousand US dollars with over nine
thousand pieces. The Diorama style model stands more than two
feet tall and two feet wide, featuring fifteen rooms that
recreate iconic scenes from a New Hope and from Return
(08:17):
of the Jedi. The set includes thirty eight many figures,
from Luke Skywalker to Princess Lea to the hot Tub Stormtrooper.
Lego's previous record holder is the Millennium Falcon. According to
this story, my daughter says this is wrong, seven five
and forty one pieces. She said she has this one,
but it was not the biggest. There was something else,
but this says, this is the biggest. It costs eight
(08:40):
hundred US dollars. Did she spend eight hundred dollars on lake?
Speaker 3 (08:42):
I don't doubt it at all.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
No wonder she can't afford things, No doubt. The new
Death Star launches October fourth. It's also the largest Star
Wars model ever. Roughly fifteen percent of Lego sets, by
the way, are marketed for adults. So, yes, that is
your scoop.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
People who pretend to be adults.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah, people who identify as adults, that is your scoop
of the day. On The John and Heidie Show, The

(09:22):
the John and Heidie Show this weekend. It's actually kind
of a special weekend. We have Batman Day this weekend,
so I've got the perfect guest to join me for
Batman Day. Now it's not Batman, but it's Samuel Garza Bernstein,
and he is the author of Caesar Romero Joker is Wild. Yeah,
the very first ever Joker and there's a book all
about him. And this book looks kind of wild, Sam.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Well, I hope that it's that. It's a fun, joyful
romp through a career that really ended up creating this
amazing character.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Now this is not your first book. You've got a
couple other fun books. We'll make sure we talk about
those before we're done. But let's go to this book again.
Caesar Romero Joker is Wild And again he's the Joker
from the nineteen sixties TV show Batman. And that show
was kind of unlike anything else, wasn't it.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
It was absolutely incredible and it just took the country
by storm at its height, as many and sixty six
percent of American households were watching, and you know, suddenly Caesar,
who had had a long career, you know, he'd been
working for forty years before Batman, suddenly he was on
(10:33):
lunchboxes and pencil cases and T shirts and posters, and
it was really a different kind of stardom that took
him completely by surprise, and he found that he just
really loved the whole atmosphere of excitement.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Again, the title of the book is Caesar Romero Joker
as Wild. Was Caesar Romero a wild guy in real life?
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Well, I don't know that I would go. He was
very elegant, and he was very generous and very sweet
natured actually, and I think that that if he was wild,
it was in the in its work ethic. I mean,
he just never stopped working. He was kind of a
wild man when it came to how much he was
(11:19):
willing to do, or where he was willing to go,
or the kinds of things he was willing to try.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
And he poured himself into every role that he did,
not just a joker, but everything that he was ever
in he really poured himself into that didn't he every
single role.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
I mean, he was the Cisco kid in Seventh Films.
He he was, you know, kidnapping Shirley Temple one day
and dancing with Carmen Miranda on another, and then shooting
out with Randolph Scott. You know, he really, he really
ran the gamut of different genres and different characters, and
I think he was able to bring all of those
(11:53):
experiences and you know, shuffle them up together and create
the Joker.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
Caesar Romero was the original Joker from the TV show,
but all of the jokers since then, Jack Nicholson, Keith Ledger, Waquin, Phoenix,
they all kind of stood on the shoulders of this giant,
didn't they.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Absolutely they did build on his shoulders, so much so
that Rolling Stone was writing about it in twenty nineteen
talking about how every Joker who's come after owes their
performance a little bit or a lot to Caesar Romero.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
I remember nineteen eighty nine when the Batman movie was
coming out with Michael Keaton. A lot of folks were excited,
and a lot of people love that movie. I'm one
of them, but I was super excited to see Jack
Nicholson as the Joker, and one of the things that
I thought was fascinating is he did such a good
job of being the joker, and his laugh that he
adapted for that role very much reminded me of the
(12:46):
laugh of Caesar Romero from the TV show in the sixties.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Well, he absolutely patterned that laugh after Caesar, and I
think he really respected the work that came before him.
And you know it's because in nineteen eighty nine, I
think people thought of Jack Nicholson's performances, you know, as
very dark. But as the character progressed through Heath Ledger
and Vaquim Phoenix, I think Jack Nicholson does seem a
(13:13):
lot closer to Caesar Romero's portrayal than to there.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Again, this weekend is Batman Day, and the book that's
out right now, Caesar Romero Joker, is wild perfect timing
for that.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Now.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
In addition to this book, you've got other books out.
There's one about Joan Crawford, there's others about the silver screen.
You must be a big fan of the movies.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
I am.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
You know, my grandmother had a book about old Hollywood
sitting on the coffee table, and I remember reading through
it when I was about seven years old and feeling.
I don't know if reincarnation is a thing, but I
felt completely like I knew who all of these people were,
and that I understood their world and that I had
(13:55):
lived in their world, and I, you know, it's just
kind of a very special part of my life.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
I appreciate you sharing that and the books that you've
put out. I will throw a link to make it
easy to find these books as well. Samuel Garza Bernstein
is our guest today. Samuel, thank you again for your time,
my pleasure.
Speaker 7 (14:11):
Thank you again.
Speaker 2 (14:12):

Time now for News to Me. As we head to
the News to Me newsdesk with Heidi.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Have you ever wondered what the differences between a buffalo
and a bison?
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Yeah, buffalo are not from North America. Bison. R. Right.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Buffalo are typically indigenous to Africa and South Asia, and.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
They look similar, but it's a whole different animal.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Right.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
The animals in North America commonly called buffalo are actually bison.
Speaker 7 (16:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
The other way to tell the difference is a bison
possesses a large shelf like hump at their shoulders and
a beard on their faces.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Yeah, I've got that. I mean, don't sport.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Either, but they do have much larger horns than bison,
so okay. Yeah, so that's how you know the difference,
and that's news to me.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
That is also news to me.

Fun fact for you, Heidi, what's that John? If your
last name is closer to the end of the olt,
you are more likely to be an impulse spender.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
So what I don't I don't get that at all.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
I don't understand how that makes a difference at all.
But did you become more impulsive when you took my
last name? Does it move to the end of the alphabet?
The end is you must have to be born with
that name. That could be fun fact for you, Heidi's
that John, for every one hundred decisions you make, ninety
five come from your subconscious So you just do it.
You don't even think about it, You're just doing it.
(17:28):
Fun fact for Heidi. The word blockbuster comes from a
World War Two ERAB bomb capable of destroying an entire block. Really,
it was an actual block.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
That is something I did not know.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
And we'll do one more fun fact for you, Heidi.

their food stunts are just as strange, like that time
they offered a breadless sandwich with two chicken breasts wrapped
around cheese and bacon. Remember that one?
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Yeah, but that actually sounded kind of good?
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Did me good? The latest KFC are KFC Jellybeans. In

up around here with good news, and I think this
is good news. What an amazing story. A Florida woman
rushes to save an eleven year old girl from a lake,
even though she doesn't know how to swim. Oh wo yeah.
Fort Myers, Florida quick thinking stranger became a hero when
she rescued an eleven year old girl who slipped into
(23:57):
a lake. A Mia Garayah there we go was collecting
shells with her little sister. She lost her footing and
slid into the water. Though she knows how to swim,
the slimy embankment made it impossible for her to climb
back out. Oh no, well, that's when Bridget Addison, who
had been at the park at a pavilion nearby, heard
May's cries for some help. Without hesitation, she ran to
(24:17):
the lake and pulled me at a safety, I said,
Mia and Maya so I don't know which way it
is even though she doesn't know how to swim herself.
Her grandmother witnessed the rescue says that she'll never forget
the kindness of the stranger who came to rescue her
granddaughter that day. It shows that there are a lot
of good people out there.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
There are, and she many is.
Speaker 2 (24:36):

could have ended very differently, but thanks to Bridget's courage
and selflessness, Mia is safe back with her family. I've
