It's the weekend, my beautiful bride right here at my side.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Hello Heidy, I Hello John.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
We have matching coffee cups?

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Are you well not matching? Mine's different?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Oh, it is different, but it's it's the same on
the inside. Well I ordered it's the same inside. I
didn't even look at your cup. We both get a
large what is it called it?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Call it a berry white. That's good, a raspberry white
mocho with.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
So Anyway, all I know is Heidi was ordering that.
She asked if I wanted something, and I said no.
Then I was like, you know what, yes I do.
I want what you're having, and I got it, and
then my cup doesn't match. So I'm going logic complaint.
Just kidding. Hey, I've got a guest joining me, Jill Furmanowski.
I'm sure I'm saying it wrong. I'm gonna ask her
how to say her name. She's the author of a
new book about the band Oasis and it looks like

(01:12):
a fascinating book. I'm gonna chat with her about that
and figure out how did you pick this for a topic.
But we're gonna do that in a bit. Thanks for
listening to The John and Heidi Show, The Hardie Show.

What you got for me?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
There?

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Heid Heay is.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Beverly d'angelo's birthday.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Oh I love her.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
I do too, And most of us know her from
Christmas Vacation, which is huge this time of year and
we watch it every single year.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
City Lane Clark and I know, I got to look
that up because that doesn't sound right. No, it's not
all right.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I found a drink called cousin Eddie's trailer fuel. This
is interesting. It is tequila agave syrup lime juice, a
can of beer and a lime garnish. It really sounds
something like like cousin Eddie would drink.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
So Griswold would drink it. T Yeah, anyway, she's wonderful.
I'm gonna link to that drink in the show notes
for today at John and Heidishow dot com.

Speaker 4 (02:20):

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Now Surveys and studies and such. If you've ever checked
yourself in the mirror after a bad night's sleep and
you thought, man, I look tired, well you're not imagining things.
Study show that sleep does more than restore energy and
actually directly affects how your skin looks and how others
perceive you. During deep sleep, growth hormones and prolactin help
repair tissue, boost collagen, and strengthen your skin barrier which

(03:16):
cortisol says. Cortisol will actually drop and it will reduce inflammation.
So a lack of sleep will dry your skin, accelerate aging,
and worse than the conditions of acne. Studies show that
even a few nights of poor rest can make you
appear paler, fatigued, and less attractive, with darker under eye
circles and drooping features. Heidie, it's not good at all.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Adequate consistent sleep supports healthy skin, boost resilience, and even
improves your social perceptions. So that old saying about you know,
getting your beauty sleep, it's not just a fairy tie.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
My wife is a year and a half older than me,
and I had somebody who thought she was my daughter.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
That was many years ago.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I'm just saying, you take better care of yourself than
I do. I need to get more sleeps foot. I'm
trying to say. Surveys and studies and such on The

Young People. It's a horror film. Sabrina Carpenter is going
to star in a musical for Alice in Wonderland. It's
an adaptation of that. Dakota Johnson in a sci fi
film called Trudy Blue. What else do we have? Ed
Helms working on a thing, the English Tutor, and he's

(04:57):
working on that. It's set in Mexico City. They're so
how many more? I'm gonna I'm gonna roll through and
try to get a couple of these. How about Amazon
MGM just won the rights to Rebecca Yarro's romance novel
The Last Letter, and we'll do one more. Phil Johnson
will write a live action Viewmaster movie for Mattel and
Sony Pictures and Escape Artists, based on a classic three

(05:18):
D image toy.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Loved the view Master, so.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
They're gonna have a movie based on that toy.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
How on are you gonna make a movie out.

Speaker 2 (05:24):

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Heidi, did you know that you're no longer able to
ask chat GPT for detailed medical or legal advice. Yeah,
OpenAI updated their policy to clarify that users of that
service cannot use the service for tailored advice for things
that require license, like legal or medical advice without appropriate
involvement by a license professional. The change comes as more

(06:24):
users are relying on AI for personal health concerns. Here's
what happened. I guarantee you there were some lawsuits, probably
because somebody you know searched. They found thirty one percent
of the people or thirty one percent of the responses
were fully correct. They're all kind of right, but they
weren't fully right. So anyway, AI influenced opinions. No, thirty
one percent right is not good. You wouldn't go to

(06:45):
a doctor who was only thirty one percent right. So
they say, go stop going to doctor chat GPT. We
don't know everything, but now we know.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Why does your butt crack go up and down a
sort of sideways.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Already know on I can't believe we're doing this on
radio because.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
If it went sideways and he went down the slide,
it would.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Go Thanks Travis, Thanks a Loives. Yeah, he stopped into
the radio station. See, I got a joke of the
day for at Heidi, and I said, please don't and
you'll see how much she respects and listens to me.
She does not at all. It's got his joke of
the day on the John and Heidi Show.

Speaker 7 (07:41):

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Time now for the scoop of the day. A new
report says that you are most likely to catch a
cold the first two weeks of November than any other
time of the year. So as we're getting out of
the first two weeks of November, if you've made it
through without a cold, good on you. How great is that? All right?
Jello is shaking things up in the American Thanksgiving market

(08:35):
with a new No Thanks Mold. It's a limited dish line.
It turns three of the holiday's most devisible side dishes,
Brussels sprouts, cranberry sauce, and pecan pie, into playful, wobbly desserts.
Each kit includes one theme silicone mold and a box

(08:56):
of jello. Mixed The Brussels sprouts mold results in glows,
fussy green spheres clustered cranberry version mirrors the rigid cylinder
of a can of cranberry sauce. That's actually kind of funny.
Have you ever thought of that? No, when they dump
out the cranberry sauce, that stays in the shape of
the can. So now you can get some never liked cranberry. Well,

(09:16):
now you can get some jello that looks like little
cranberry sauce cans that's what these things are for. And
then the pecan pie mold creates a floppy, crust free
slice of pie. Many Americans prefer to skip these sides.
Jello is taken aim at the trend of ironic, colorful
joy first foods. So they're available apparently at Walmart for

(09:38):
like five bucks. And I think that's actually kind of
an adorable idea. So there are no thanks molds. They're like,
we're not doing Brussels sprouts, so you might as well
have some green jello that looks like what a what
it tastes like? I hope it's not that flavor.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
I doubt it.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
That would be weird. That is your scoop of the
day on The John and Heidi Show Show. Thank you
so much listening to The John ed Heidi Show. Brought
to you in part by jascasemedical dot com. Do you
have a Jase case. You can get all of the
details for free right now at jscasemedical dot com. Thank

(10:14):
you for listening to The John and Heidi Show. This weekend.
Excited a visit with Jill Fermanowski. She is the author
of several books. She's got a new one out right
now about the band Oasis, and the book is called
Oasis Trying to find a New Way out of Nowhere. Now, Jill,
how in the world did you choose this particular band
to write about? What is the what was the draw here?

Speaker 8 (10:35):
I felt I should do this book because I had
such an enormous quantity of material on Oasis from nineteen
ninety four up to the time when they broke up
in two thousand and nine, and I felt as a
photographer that it was my best body of work. I've
been working for more than fifty years and this body

(10:55):
of work I thought I'd done my best work on
and that it should make a book.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
You've got some amazing photographs in this book. Do you
know how many shows you've been to with the band Oasis?

Speaker 8 (11:04):
It is a lot. I haven't counted them all, to
be fair, but it is a lot.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Yeah, you've got a bunch of beautiful photos for this band.
Did you do this for other bands as well?

Speaker 5 (11:13):
Well?

Speaker 8 (11:13):
I've been photographing rock bands for a long long time,
but Oasis they tended to play with very good support artists. Actually,
I mean on this tour they've got the incredible Rich
Dashcroft and he was also on one of their American tours,
and they've you know, Noel has been very good at
sort of championing other bands. But when I've been working

(11:35):
with Oasis, they've always been the headline artists, so you know,
they haven't really other than I guess an American tour
where they've supported you too around nineteen ninety seven, they've
been the headline artists.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Jill, I see people at concerts who are snapping photos
all the time, and then sadly I see a lot
of that stuff like on Facebook, and they're horrible, horrible photos. Somehow,
you've got the knack to be in the right place
at the right time, and you have the best photos
from these concerts. Do you have any advice for somebody
to maybe end up getting better photos at the concerts
that they're going to?

Speaker 8 (12:08):
Oh, well, thank you, we'll look. First of all, I've
got very good access and I've got very good equipment,
so it's not that it's just a phones. Whilst they're
absolutely wonderful for all sorts of things, taking live pictures
is not one of their top uses, although I'm sure
in the right hands they could probably do better than
most of us. But you've got to be fairly close

(12:29):
to get the kind of pictures that I got live shots,
and to have fairly good and fast lenses, and also
kind of an intuition about doing live photography, which is
something I guess I've built up over the very long
career that I've had photographing musicians.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Now you've got a whole book full of photos of
the band Oasis, and again, any one of these could
be like an album cover, it could be a poster.
Have they used any of your work for their official
purposes like that?

Speaker 5 (12:57):
Yes?

Speaker 8 (12:57):
Indeed, yeah, yeah, familiar to Million One, quite a few singles,
and I think in the box sets especially, they've used
quite a lot of my material. The covers of the
early albums, the first three were done by a great
friend of mine, Brian Cannon, who I think did the
most wonderful job of art directing and made a kind

(13:20):
of a special I thought it was great because he
was like a friend of the band from the day.
And when I started doing rock and roll photography, I
used to work with Hypnosis, who were albums leave designers
with Storm Forguson, who was the main designer, and although
he did very surreal covers with all sorts of stuff
on it. I always did the you know, the kind

(13:42):
of grounded stuff, you know, the stuff of the band working,
the grind of it, the rehearsals, the sound checks and
so on. And with Oasis I did that too. Some
of it made it onto covers and probably will continue
to do so for retrospectively. But mainly I'm there as
a documentary maker, as a kind of a storyteller, you know,

(14:04):
kind of like on the front.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Line, and you did an amazing job of capturing that
story through the lens of your camera and telling a
very good story with just the images that you've taken.
The book is out right now, where can I go
if I would like to find a copy of this book.

Speaker 8 (14:17):
Well, you've got two choices. I mean, obviously it's nice
to give bookshops, you know, their income. So going to
a bookshop and picking it up it's jolly heavy, I
might tell you. It's a very very substantial book, and
I think it's actually quite a good price as well
for such a substantial book. But it could also be
bought on Amazon, for example, if you're nowhere near a bookshop,

(14:41):
so it can be got just about anyway where.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Now.

Speaker 8 (14:44):
I think it's coming out probably today or tomorrow, so
I don't think there'd be a problem getting hold of
a copy now.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Jill, thank you so much for taking the time to
visit with us today. I appreciate that a bunch.

Speaker 8 (14:54):
Oh, you're most welcome. Thank you very much for hosting me.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Absolutely again. The book is out right now. It's called
Oasis Trying to Find a Way Out of Nowhere. The
author of this book and the award winning photographer, Jill Fermanowski,
has been our guest today.

Speaker 6 (15:08):

Time now for the movie quote of the day with
my beautiful bride Heidi, and this quote is from twenty
twenty I'm sorry, twenty twelve. I don't think you're gonna.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Get it, okay.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
I volunteer as tribute twenty twelve. I volunteer as tribute
Hunger Games.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
I was gonna, I actually was going to say, Hunger.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Games, were you really?

Speaker 3 (15:58):
I really was? I to get it out of the
green matter because I was like, I think that's a
pretty famous line from that film. I've never seen the film,
but I do know.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
That I should quit admitting that I've not seen anything.
You know how many movies that we've talked about that
are huge, huge, huge movies that I've never seen it.
Never never watch an Avatar, best selling movie in the world.
I've never seen it.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
No, it doesn't.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Then there's another Chemo. It's one of the second best
selling movies Avatar too, And I'm like, I haven't seen
the first one yet. All Right, one of these days
when I've got a few hours. That is your movie
quote of the day on The John and Heidi Show.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
I have some little tips that you can use over
today and tomorrow for camping with duct tape. So if
you're camping, bring along some duct tape because apparently there's
a lot of uses.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Oh there's yeah, you always have that.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
So if you get a tear in your tent, you're
supposed to use duct tape to put tape on both
sides of it. Has got to be the good duck tape,
not the cheap stuff that you can get like a
dollar store. But you put some on the inside and
put some on the outside and push them up together
and it'll seal up.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
If you want to change your life, use guerrilla tape.
That stuff never comes.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
You can apparently make a rope out of it. You
twist it into long strips and then that will be
strong enough to hang your food from a tree limb
so that bears can't easily get to it. But I
thought bears could climb trees.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Maybe they can't.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
They can to fight off ticks. If you're walking through
tile grass, you wrap it around your pant legs so
that ticks can't have access to in between your boots
and your pant legs to be able to get up there.
You can seal up your potato chip bags with duct
tail so that and you can make a bandage or

(18:05):
a sling out of duct tape. So if you end
up getting hurt, you can make a sling for your
arm to hold your arm up. And you can make
a splint out of duct tape. There's all sorts of
ways to use it to be able to fix yourself
right up. And if you're hiking and you feel a
blister on your heel, you just put some of that
in your shoe to help cushion in between in between

(18:28):
the foot and the shoe, and it'll help so that
it's not rubbing and you won't get bad blisters.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
I'll sell that.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Yeah, those are news to me. I'll have a few
more tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
That is also news to me.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Fun fact for you, Heidie. People in parts of western
China put salt in their tea instead of sugar. So
I actually tried.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
That, tried it.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
It wasn't bad, Yeah, I thought, I said. It kind
of reminded me almost like a soup broth, like that's
not bad. Fun fact for a Heide. Baby owls are
called are you ready? What do you think? Olettes? Is
the owlette? Fun fact for you, Heidie. The top flatulence
producing foods are beans, followed by corn, followed by bell peppers,

(19:44):
followed by califlower, followed by cabbage, and then finally milk
in that order.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
So peppers are higher up than cauliflower. I would have
thought that was the opposite.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
No fun fact for you, Heidie. The length from your
wrist to your elbow is the same length of your foot,
so I'm here to hear that, and we'll do one
more fun fact for you, Heidi. Fishing is the sport

Airwan E R E W h O N. Never heard

Speaker 5 (20:40):
I have not.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Well, they've launched an eleven dollars to paste flavored smoothie.
Ew is smoothie that tastes like minti toothpaste. Why. It's
created with oral wellness brand Bocha. The Mint Condition Smile
Smoothie is meant to freshen your breath while you sip.
Inspired by Bocha's Ella Mint toothpaste, the drink blends mint
green tea, coconut mint, mango, and chlorophyll what into a

(21:05):
creamy seafoam green mixed top with mint leaves and cocoa nibs.
Everything about this sounds ridiculous. It sounds bizarre, but early
tasters say it's surprisingly minty and refreshing. I like brushing
your teeth yet somehow delicious. Last year, Grillo's Pickles teamed
up with Boca to launch a limited edition Cucumber Deal

(21:26):
Pickle flavored toothpaste. So what this is It's just people saying, Hey,
let's get out of our space and invade other spaces
so then people will talk about it. And I just
fell into the trap.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
I have some very interesting stories about last wishes of
famous people. Okay, so as they've passed away, these are
things that have been carried out on their behalf. Hunter S. Thompson,
who wrote Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, among other things.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
He's a weird dude.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Man.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
It was adapted into a movie in nineteen ninety eight,
and Johnny Depp played Thompson and they actually became very
very good friends.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
And when he wishes were so weird.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
When the writer died in two thousand and five, the
actor made sure that his ambitions were carried out. So
Thompson wanted to be cremated and for his ashes to
be blasted out of a cannon.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
Isn't that wild?

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Johnny Depp footed the three million dollar bill to pay
for a one hundred and fifty three foot tower in
the shape of a fish holding a hallucinogenic peote button
to be built in rural Colorado. A cannon was mounted
up on the tower from which Thompson's ashes were blasted.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Forth, does that seem weird to you?

Speaker 3 (24:07):
It does seem weird, But you know what, I kind
of think it's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
I love the fact that Johnny Depp did that Oh yeah,
you know he spent the money himself to do it,
but also you know he got the role in the
movie and they give it actually kind.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Of gives me an idea for it.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
I want done with my You better write it down.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Put me inside of a stuffed Gonzo doll and shoot
the Gonzo doll out of a cannon and then I'd
go flying like Gonzo out of a cannon. How cool
would that be.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
You're gonna have to write that down to notorize this.
That is something special with Heidi Small.

why they haven't done it in a while. Okay, so

a smile, and it has inspired many many people. The
holiday season, one local woman decided was time for Andy
to be blessed in return for all the joy he
brings to others. She said, this is not charity, she

and had some challenges in his life, and she just said,
this guy absolutely is amazing. Yeah, they did. They raised,

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
