Leaves are changing.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yeah, sad time that could be.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
But I found a cocktail that is actually called take
a Hike and I tell you what this is as
interesting as most of the people know that actually.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
Like to hike.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Sage leaves, meskel, sherry, lemon juice, honeysyrup, hot pepper, sauce,
orange bitters, and salan solution.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
What the what?
Speaker 1 (02:12):
No?

Now surveys and studies and such. A bite of dark
chocolate might just give your memory a short sweet boost.
Researchers in Japan found that flavinols it's a bitter component
in coco, can trigger a surge of norada.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Ah, I need a surge of.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Noratta, redlin I said. Anyway, it's in your brain's hippocampus,
which is just fun to say. It's it's the hippo,
not the rhino, campus the hippocampus. Anyway, it's a region
that locks short term memories into long term memories. Now,
in mice, this little boost of these things lasted about
an hour, and it improve their memory performance by about
thirty percent. The effect kicks in quickly because it's triggered
(03:43):
by taste, not by digestion, So just the taste of
the chocolate instantly makes you like, remember stuff love that.
The results have not yet been tested on humans. Come on,
give me some chocolate and let's do this. I have
the time. The study suggests that a square of dark
chocolate before or doing, like an important meeting or whatever,
could briefly sharpened focus and recall. So you see, if
(04:06):
you see me walking into a meeting with chocolate all
over my face, I might have overdone it. That is,
Surveys and studies and such on the John and Heidi Show,

She's the something of something, She's not the queen. All
I know is she wants she wants people to just
leave her alone, and she doesn't want you to invade her.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
She's going to film.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
She's gonna be back into movies now. Yeah, she's got
a cameo in Close Personal Friends with Lily Collins and
Jack Quaid and others. So anyway, yeah, that that that
that's very nice. So I'm glad she's back. Now that
we're done with that story, I'm sure that we'll never
hear the name Megan Markle again except for this story.

They're working on the screenplay. They're trying to get it
ready to go, and I knew you'd love.

he says. The wife says, that's a turkey. He says,
I wasn't talking to you.

Time not for your scoop of the day. The US
Postal Service will be delivering its fiscal year twenty twenty
five results real soon. They are expected to have lost
a little bit of money this last year. Do you
have any idea in the last fiscal year? How much?
Speaker 5 (08:48):
No idea?
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Just throw it.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Remember how much you suppose they've.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Lost two hundred and fifty dollars?
Speaker 2 (08:53):
No, you think that was right? Ten billion dollars. You
were off by a scoch. You're off by pretty much
ten billion. Now you might have heard gen Z. They've
been raising They've been raised online their entire life. The
internet has been out as long as they've been alive,
and they're used to constant stimulation. There's like, oh yeah,
(09:16):
stuff going on all the time. Well, now they're embracing boredom.
On TikTok. Young people are now sharing these marathons of
themselves doing nothing, no music, no scrolling, just set up
a camera and record yourself sitting there or just walking
with no distractions, no headphones in nothing TikToker Ishan Sharma
(09:36):
says he used to multitask NonStop and he blames social
media for his shrinking focus. And he thinks this is
a good thing.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
So now he's using social media to show people he
doesn't need social media.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Use the social media. They've got a name for it
that I'm not saying on the radio because I think
it's just the wrong name. I'll tell you off the air.
It's in the show notes. You can read it. I'm
just not going to say it on the air because
I don't think we can. Experts note that this trend
mimics mindfulness, which is known to help improve attention spans,
especially when paired with nature. Neuroscientists say even brief walks
(10:08):
outdoors can boost your memory and your focus. Boredom can
also spark creativity and introspection. Influencers say the practice feels
awkward at first, but with repetition, it becomes calming and
even inspiring. Well, there you go, so you want to
do nothing later, Heidi, That sounds weird to me. That
is your scoop of the day on The John and Heidi.

On This movie Star Monday excited a visit with Eric Roberts. Eric,
we've had you on the program in the past. Last
(10:50):
time we talked with you right after we talked with
Danny Trejo and he was telling us that he got
his start in a movie with you, and I thought
it was so fun that you guys were both on
the program like week apart. That was just a fun connection.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
And it's all real. It's totally real.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
He is that guy, absolutely, And the cool thing is
he told us the story of how he went from
being in every prison in California to becoming a movie star.
It was just a great, great story. And speaking of
great stories, we got another one we're gonna talk about
right now. Sally Wood. Very sad to have lost Sally Kirkland.
But this is such an amazing tribute Sally Wood. The
new film that you guys have on.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
That's how they're calling it, Sally Wood. Yeah, it's a
movie about Hollywood from Sally Kirkland's point of view.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
And I know you guys worked together on several projects.
And what was your role in this particular movie.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
I played her agent in the movie. I played her agent.
But I also made several movies with Sally, several really
good movies. I also did the thing that we're called
Hollywood Dreams with Sally. It's a Henry Jaguline film and
with Sally with Keaton Simons, and I love that movie.
Hollywood Dreams also did best the best with her. And
(12:00):
I knew Sally really well and loved her very.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Much, very talented lady, and it's very sad that we
just lost her. But what a wonderful way to honor
her for this film to come out right now, and
I know a lot of people are going to watch
this in honor of Sally Kirkland.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
You're absolutely right, and I love the movie because of
how I love Sally. So I think I think, yeah,
it's gonna make an impression.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
And like you mentioned, you worked with her on some
other films as well. And you know, Hollywood, that is
a big area, but it's kind of like a really
big small town. Everybody kind of knows one another.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Well. When you've been that as long as I have,
everybody knows who you are, what you've done, New Year
agent is and it's just kind of how it goes.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
And I think that's kind of cool. There's a lot
of connections that are made. You know, you either have
the same agent, or your neighbors or your friends, or
you're maybe even related to one another. But you know,
it kind of reminds me I grew up in a
small town. Hollywood really is kind of a big small.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Town exactly, and it's most intius business there is. We
all overlap each other all day long, every day.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
So I love the fact that you have chosen the
path you've chosen in life. You're a very talented actor,
and I love the movies that you're in. But if
you didn't have that opportunity, what would Eric Roberts have
done for a living.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Well, and i'd taken our lessons, I would have wanted
to have been an artist. But having not done that,
I think I would have robbed the louver.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
I love that. Now somebody else was thinking the same thing,
and it kind of seems like they beat you to it.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Except a bunch of those guys got caught.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
And I suppose if they got caught, they get to
pay the price for everybody.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Yeah, it's unfortunate. I know it's bad. Well that's a
hard wood look at it. I guess it is the louver
and it was stolen. So what's wrong with you, Eric,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
I love it. And again I'm glad that you took
the path that you took because you're a very talented
actor and the movies you do you do a great job.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
But I always like to think about what else you
could have done. And you know that also leads me
to you don't want to be an artist, which I
think is cool. What kind of artists like a sculptor,
a painter, or what type of art would Eric Roberts
have done?
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Paint or or or or Also the other extreme is
I would have worked with animals. I'd have been a vet.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
That's very cool too. I bet you would have been
a wonderful vet. And and so let's go back down
to the painting. Do you have paintings? Have you done
any of that? Do is there?
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Like?
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Am I going to see on the road show someday
here's a an Eric Roberts original painting.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Oh no, I'm not. I'm not an artist, but I
I have some stuff I have I have I have
stolen from art galleries. That that I'm that I'm very.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Proud of last trip to the Louver.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Now, I just love art and I love the idea
that that that that that meybody would ever steal art
because you can't hide it you it's it's the one
of the kind everybody knows he got stolen, Like what
are you going to do with it? But I love
the idea, you know, it's just a great idea.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Well, thank you so much for honoring Sally Kirkland in
such a wonderful way by doing the interviews to help
promote her film. Sally would and thank you for taking
the time to chat with me once again. I always
enjoy chatting with you.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
That is so nice, and I like Sally simple as that.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Sallywood is the name of the film. It's out right
now and I'm going to throw a link to make
it easy to find. Eric Roberts has been our guest, Eric,
thanks again, sir.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Of course I have a great day.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Well, I know I will have a great day now
because my movie star Monday guest has been Eric Roberts,
which is pretty darn cool. And again, the new film
is called Sallywood. It's already won fifty awards doing the
film circuit going out to the different film festivals, and
now it's available for you to see it as well.
I've got a link to the trailer and all of
the information in the show notes for today at John
(15:38):

the late great Sally Kirkland.

My Beautiful Bride Heidi trying to guess which movie this
is from two thousand and one? Is The Year You
Shall Not Pass?
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Was it Money Python?
Speaker 2 (16:32):
No? No, what is it?
Speaker 5 (16:34):
Gandalf?
Speaker 2 (16:35):
It was Gandalf? Yeah, it's from the Lord of the Rings.
You thought he was in Money Python.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Well, I was thinking about the Money Python, and I
think it was The Holy Grail when they were on
the mission and they were trying to go across the
bridge and one of the characters of stand on the
bridge doing the I couldn't remember a few seconds.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
No, anyway, you I would have also accepted, uh, leaving
Sarah Marshall as that was he.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
Forget we're getting Sarah Marshall. Yeah, because he did and.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
He quoted that.
Speaker 5 (17:02):
Ye, yes he did.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
That was a bonus one. So if anybody said that
you were also correct, we'll be quote of the Day
on the John and Heidie Show.

I have a few more camping tips to do with
duct tape. Oh yeah, be all done today.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Pest control. If flies are bugging you, you can tape
two strips back to back and hang them near the
food so the flies won't bother the food. They'll get
stuck to.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
The little thing.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
You can put a little weight at the bottom so
it doesn't flop all around and he's dead.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Flies flopping all you And use it.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
To tape a knife to a like a stick, and
you can spear.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
A Okay, I forgot my fishing pole, but luckily I
brought it to You.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Can use it to mark rocks and stuff as you're
hiking so you can find your way back. So you
can stick a brightly colored piece of it on shape
of an arrow yep so you can find your way back.
You can use it to secure your tablecloths to the
picnic table so the table cloths don't blow away?
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Is there anything it can't do?
Speaker 4 (18:24):
If your water bottle is leaking because you've dropped it
too many times, you can seal up your water.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Drop in your water too.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
You can put it in the toes of your shoes
to help keep your toes warm. If it's really really
cold and your socks are not doing a good enough
job to keep your toesies warm, you can insulate the
inside of your shoes with duct tape.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
You better right, just stay home. All of this sounds.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Yes, I agree with you.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
And if you see a bear, if a bear comes
at you, you can throw your roll of duct tape
out a bear and run away while it's distracted.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
Here, I really would not recommend that.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
I suggest you take the duct tape and try to
duct tape the bear to see how that goes. Don't
do that. Oh wow, that's news to me. It is
also news to me.

some weird news. A German museum is proving that root
can be an art form. Performance artist Carl Brandy transforms
(21:04):
into an alter ego Joseph Langerlik for a museum's twice
monthly Grumpy Guide tours. Those are seventy minute walks through
this museum where he dresses up as a different character
and he scolds people and mocks them and berates them
for their supposed ignorance. People are lighting up to buy
(21:24):
tickets for this. Yeah. Thanks, it's about eight US dollars.
Tickets have sold out every single showing since they started
doing this. Now they have bookings stretching into twenty twenty six.
And he says that his insults target the group, not
a single person, and he said the act appeal lies
in the emotional ride. It's inspired by a thing called
(21:46):
the rude waiter restaurants.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
Yeah, I've seen.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
The museum embraced the idea as a new and creative
way to attract younger audiences and more people in general,
one sarcastic lecture at a time.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
So I think it might be fine if it's if
it's towards the whole group and not individual people. I
don't things where someone is purposely being targeted and that
makes me uncomfortable.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Well, it's interesting, it's also weird. Twice Today's Weird News

Time out for the question of the day with my
beautiful bride, Heidi trying to guess the answer here. In
a survey, Heidi, forty seven percent of people said that
in a crisis, they are confident they could do this.
What is it? I don't know if I could. I
don't ever want to try. Think they could do this? No,
deliver a baby?
Speaker 3 (23:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (23:08):
Oh yeah, I'm sure I could.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
I have a major wes aout this recently or just
deja vu?
Speaker 5 (23:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (23:15):

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Heidi?
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Have some more famous last wishes?
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Oh yeah, yeah?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
And this is Alexander the Great and what he wanted
done after he had passed away. First his body was
placed into a solid gold coffin, which was then placed
into another solid gold coffin.
Speaker 5 (23:59):
As one does, and then the whole heavy load.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Was placed onto a gold plated carriage, of course, pulled
by a fleet of sixty horses. The funeral procession took
two years in order for it to reach every major
spot in the deceased emperor's land. He was buried twice
in Egypt to the first in Memphis and then again
in Alexandria. The exact location of his tomb is now
(24:21):
lost to history. The cost of all of that, in
twenty twenty three dollars was six hundred million for him
to have this, like you know, emperor wide tour. So
that was fascinating.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
That is what a guy's gotta do, is That's what
you gotta do. That is something special with Heidi.
Speaker 8 (24:39):

Time Now for the list. There's no way I'm getting
through all of this today. But I have the most
commonly mispronounced international foods. This is from Google searches on
how to pronounce and then whatever the food would be,
So Euros, the Greek pta often filled with meat and veggies.
Tricky because the Greek letter y does have the exact
uh have the exact English equivalent, so you can either
(25:34):
say zero or zero, but a hard G is incorrect.
So if you hear somebody call it a gyro or
a gyro, nuts U A A C A I a
super food berry and say ah C E A C Yeah,
four letters, three syllable structure often trips people.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
Up, so I just don't say it.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Yeah, I'm like I have one of those things earlier.
I'm gonna do the number three. Foe pH o soup
is pronounced.
Speaker 5 (26:04):
Fu, not fo all the time, all the time.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah, So you say fuf fo yeah, okay, and wash
Chestershire sauce or wash your sister sauce. As I heard
somebody calling on the internet, I'm like, what do you
think that's what it's called. I hope you don't think
that's what it's called. Uh. The British sauce simplifies its
long spelling. It's woos to shah, rather than trying to
(26:28):
say all fourteen Worcestershire Okay, Worcestersha sauce. Yeah, We'll do
one more. Nocchi Italian potato dumplings is no key, but
the correct pronunciation is neo key with a hidden y
in the beginning of that. So that is the the
first five. There's five more. I've got all of them
in the show notes for today at John at heidishow

I think This is good news. A couple turns their
(27:12):
home into a hedgehog hospital, complete with maternity ward and hogbuolenceesy.
So next time you tell me I have bad ideas,
you just keep this. There was a demand, apparently a
big hearted couple transform their transformed rather their family home
into a hedgehog hospital. They got the emergency room, the
(27:34):
intensive care unit, a fleet of volunteer hedgehog ambulances, and
a maternity ward. Heidi all Right, Sharon and Andy Longhurst
started the Hedgehog Haven about three years ago after rescuing
a couple of sick hedgehogs they found on the side
of the road. The experience inspired them to learn how
to care for these tiny creatures, and before long their
passion turned into a full time mission. Since then, they've
(27:56):
reached this is a lot of them. They've treated five
hundred sixty seven hedgehog the heck Yeah, they had some
sick ones, they had injured ones, they had orphaned ones.
The garage has now been transformed into the ICU with
seven incubators and forty cages. Their garden now hosts a
special hedgehog maternity ward, a dedicated team of eighteen volunteers
help with cleaning and feeding and transporting hedgehogs in the
(28:18):
rescues hogbulences they work. Her job is as a school
crossing guard. His job is a bus driver. But they've
poured their hearts into this in their free time and
they're rescuing and helping hedgehogs round the clock. They've raised
a lot of money at local events and raffles and
races to cover their monthly costs of about eight hundred
pounds for food, vetting and electricity, plus another thirty five
(28:41):
hundred pounds per year. This is in England for vet bills.
They say, if there's a hedgehog out there that needs
help and it's in pain, we can't say no. So
I think it's really cool that there's somebody doing this.
I had no idea there was a need for this.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
I well, and maybe that's why. Maybe there's just a
lot more of them in that part of the world,
like where we if we just don't see a whole lot.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
Of hedgehogs, hedgehogs, but you never know, maybe there's a
we could be surrounded by him. How do we we
could be time say goodbye, hey, good bye by everybody
