Speaker 2 (00:20):
It's Thursday. My beautiful bride is at my side. Hello, Heidi.
How's it going? O?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
John?

Speaker 4 (00:26):
Good?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
How are you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I am fantastic. I've got a Dear John letter today.
This actually from a friend of mine, very frustrated with
the world right now, with people, just people doing dumb things,
people being mean, people being rude to each other out
in the world, Like this happens a lot online. But
he had somebody that like flipped him off while he
was driving, somebody else that was rude to him at
a store. I mean, so it says right at the end,

(00:47):
no question, really just frustrated at people. What do you do?
But it is a good Dear John letter, and we'll
share it and then we'll chat about some experiences. And
I bet you probably have some as well. I don't
know if you need to chime in with advice. But
if you've got an experience you'd like to talk about,
and here's what I would like to do. If there's
a way to find a positive spin to give people
ideas on how to deal with people, I would love that.

(01:09):

(01:31):
My lips are watering over here. My mouth is watering
just thinking of this. Oh, looks good.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
It is peanut butter fudge days.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Doesn't that just sound good?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
And I don't have a cocktail today. I have a
recipe for peanut butter whiskeyfudge. Oh wow, that looks an
amazing and I did send you the recipe for that,
but I thought it was Oh it looks delicious.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
So I have a link to that non drink in

Surveys and studies and such. A study from the University
of Sydney in Australia suggests that how you walk might
be as important as how much you walk. Tracking people
over eight years, research found those who took longer walks
ten to fifteen minutes or more had a lower risk
of heart disease and death, even if they took total

(02:54):
steps that were fewer. I think I said that wrong.
Total fewer.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
They took fewer steps, So walk slow as long as
you're walking for a certain amount of Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
The benefit was clear among those walking under five thousand
steps a day. Setting aside time for longer continuous walk
appears to strengthen your heart more effectively than if you
do a bunch of short walks. I love that experts
say small tweaks to walking habits could deliver big heart
health gains. Okay, so all I know is I don't
walk nearly enough, because when I do go for a walk,

(03:26):
people pull over and say, did you need a ride, sir?
I'm like, no, I'm just trying to get some exercise
surveys and studies and such on The John and Heidi.

Big Screen, Little Screen. Sidney Sweeney's back in the news.
This time. It's because her movie Christy did not do
as well at the box office as many people thought.
It's an R rated film and they say it was
rejected at the box office, and I don't know if
it was rejected. There's a lot of films this year
that haven't done well. Yeah, and this is just one

(04:12):
of the many. But there's some people online that want
to hate on Sydney Sweeney. So you go ahead and
do that, and she'll laugh all the way to the bank.
After years of telling us to Netflix and chill, now
the streaming giant wants you to get out of the house.
They want you to go to the mall because they've
now opened some experiential rooms around the nation. Netflix has

(04:33):
these one hundred thousand square foot space in the King
of Prussia Mall near Philadelphia that recently opened, and they're going, hey,
get out and experience this stuff. Don't just sit home
and watch TV. And then here's Aidi's favorite Warner Brothers
reviving the Gremlins franchise.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
No they're not.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, nineteen eighty four was a big year. That's when
Billy got a cute for a little thing called a
magua is a pet for Christmas and it was a
huge hit, two hundred and twelve million dollars worldwide. They
did very, very very well, and there's been a sequel.
There's been many other things. Well, you can expect a
new sequel to hit theaters in twenty twenty seven.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
And I bet all the Gremlins are going to be AI.
They're going to ruin it. They're going to destroy that franchise.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Excreme little screen. Right here on the John and Heidi Show.

Speaker 6 (05:16):

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Did you know a day on Venus is longer than
a year on Venus? So Venus has an extremely slow
rotation the world turns like for it to turn around,
it takes two hundred and forty three Earth days for
one full day on Venus. However, it's orbit around the
Sun only takes two hundred and twenty five birthdays, so
that means a day on Venus lasts longer than a

(06:10):
year on Venus, making its time keeping quite bizarre.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Yeah, that's weird.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah, that is very very weird. We don't know everything,

(06:35):
of the day with my beautiful bride, Heidi. Is this
gonna be a clean joke?

Speaker 6 (06:38):
Heidie?

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Yeah, you look a little devious over there. You're a
little too happy to tell me what's going on. What
do you got for your joke?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
What happened when the cannibal showed up late to Thanksgiving dinner?

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I have no idea what happened?

Speaker 3 (06:49):
He got the cold shoulder.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
See it shouldn't have even add I knew there was
something that is That is the joke of the day

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Time now for the scoop of the day. And this
is kind of interesting. We talked earlier about Netflix now
having a one hundred thousand square foot place in a
mall and there's a Canadian movie theater operator, Cineplex. They've
launched a thing also that's a little unique. It's called
Monday Surprise Premieres. I think this is kind of cool.
Here's what they're offering. They're offering discounted mystery screenings of

(08:01):
a brand new, unreleased movie, but they don't tell you
what it is till you get there. Moviegoers buy their
tickets first. Yeah, they don't learn what the movie is
until the lights go down. Tickets are eight dollars and
ninety nine cents, so just over half the cost of
a regular ticket. Retail analyst Bruce Winder says the idea
taps into the surprise and delight effect, though he's unsure

(08:23):
if it will be a success. The Cineplex joins others
who have tested similar concepts, including Landmark Cinemas and TIFF's
Secret Movie Club. The event arrives as theater industry continues
to recover from the pandemic disruption way back five years ago.
Revenues are rising, but they're still below the pre pandemic highs.
Streaming habits remain a challenge, though hits like Barbie and

(08:46):
Oppenheimer show that audiences will still turn out for the
right movie. Will they turn out though, if they don't
even know what movie they're gonna see? One that I
know we have. There's a theater that did that for
I don't know if they still do. But every year
on April Fool's Day, they would have a.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
And you wouldn't know what it was until the movie started.
I thought that was a blund thing.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
I thought they did that was smart. They had some hints,
they would have some things that it would kind of
hint towards what it was. But then here's the thing
I thought was interesting. Do you remember there were times
that when the movie would start and it'd be like
people that would get up and leave. Yeah, like you
already paid, why would you sit and watch it?

Speaker 3 (09:18):
That's you know what, If it's not a movie they
wanted to see, that's fine.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
I get it. That is your scoop of the day
on The John and Heidie Show Show. Thank you so
much for listening to The John and Heidi Show, brought
to you in part by Jace casemedical dot com. Do
you have a Ja's case. You can get all of
the details for free right now at jascasemedical dot com.
Time now for Dear John letters. All right, this is

(09:49):
a personal friend of mine, and I will say it
to him. I feel bad for him going through this stuff,
but I'm gonna, we know, always keep it anonymous. I'm
gonna read the letter to you, Dear John. I nearly
gave up on people today. I went shopping after leaving
the Nothing's a Dollar Tree, I'm driving to my next
spot and the car behind me is gaining quick on me.

(10:11):
I'm going like five miles over the speed limit, but
apparently that's too slow. I only sped up to keep
with the pace of the cars around me. Well ahead
of me aways was a car turning right in front
of me, still very clear of me striking him, but
as he's turning he flips me the bird. What did
I do next? I go to the grocery store. I
didn't bring bags, so I kept my shopping light. I

(10:33):
had four items all together, three of them were frozen.
I got in what I thought was a checkout line,
only one open line with an actual live checker, because
the people in front of me were proceeding to the checkout.
After a couple of minutes, a guy standing in the
aisle ahead of the checkout said, the end of the
line is back there, And he said I was standing

(10:53):
where I thought where I was longer than this, schmuck.
You don't get the word schmuck and a letter very often.
And all I had was four items. These other people
all had full cards without saying a word. I just
put the frozen stuff back in the freezer because I'm
not a jerk, and then I left the store. As
I was leaving, I think he thought I was in
a line for the self checkouts, which I never use anyway.

(11:15):
I wasn't having none of that. I bought the same
stuff plus more at a different store. I believe I
blame every single chain store for not having more checkouts
for people ringing up items open instead of the stupid
self checkouts. Anyway, to the guy who turned in front
of me and flipped me off, I hope you have
a better day. There's really no question here. I'm just

(11:35):
frustrated at people.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
What do you do?

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Signed frustrated with people? So it's okay, you don't need
a question for the dear John letter. I will say this.
I just had that. I didn't see anybody like, you know,
flipping the bird at us, but I had to hit
the brakes so hard that Heidie and I both almost
flew out of our seats because somebody pulled right in
front of us, like, and Heidi was like that.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Very dangerously, I mean it was.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
And then Gary, I don't know why I shouted this
when I hit the brakes, I said, Jimminy cricket. Yeah,
why in the world did I say that?

Speaker 3 (12:12):
I was wondering the same thing. You definitely lost some
man points at.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
That moment I hit the I heard my tires screech
on the ground as I was and luckily and get
hit by a car behind me. As my car is
screeching and I almost hit this car, I s jimminy cricket.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
And I yelled something very different.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
We can't say what you said. I don't know why
I even said that.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Is that a weird thing, the weirdest thing to yell?

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (12:38):
And I can also tell you I have seen more
and more people recently just be horrible to one another.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
There's a lot of negatary.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
I don't understand that. And I see that online all
the time, online all the time, and I.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Spend so much time at home. Oh, I'm not even kidding.
This is why I avoid going anywhere.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
But but I see more and more people. You know,
when you're keyboard wire, you're just seeing say whatever you
want to type it out, just type it out, yeah,
and you can say anything. But now that's bled into
like the real world, and for whatever reason, people say
things and treat people in ways that I never used
to see. And I don't know if that's because they're
used to it from the internet and now you just
say that in real life too. But I would hope

(13:20):
this is the thing that I'm going to say. There's
not a question.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
What do you do?

Speaker 2 (13:23):
He says, But there's no question? But my answer is this.
I like what you said to the guy who turned
in front of me and flipped me off. Have a
better day there you go. I just hope that each
and every one of us can wish the best for
those around us, because you have no idea where that
person's going. You have no idea they might there could
be some emergency. But if that's the case, why are

(13:43):
they flipping you off? If you are driving and they
pulled in front of you, you wouldn't think that they'd
be mad at you if for just driving. But for
some reason, it seems like people are just being horrible
to one another lately. Yeah, so I would encourage you
to just take a deep breath and then realize my
life is better because I don't treat people that way.

(14:05):
So just don't treat people bad, be nice to everybody,
and then realize that you know what I'm doing it right.
If you're getting wrong, that's on you.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
And just stay home as much as possible.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Here you go.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
That is well.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
If you would like to chime in for frustrated with people,
I would encourage you to give some positive advice on
how to be good to one another. But I got
a feeling it's going to turn into a lot of
other people go oh yeah, this also happened to me,
And this happened because it's everywhere. But you can chime
in good or bad at Facebook dot com slash John

but here's the quote. Gentlemen, you can't fight in here.
This is the war room.

the News to Me newsdesk with Heidi Small.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
I have two final oldest evers.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Okay, I'm ready.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
This one is the oldest record story and archaeologists were
exploring an eleven thousand year old site in Turkey. This
was in twenty twenty two. They found two carved panels
on a bench. One image depicts a man holding up
a snake to defend himself against a bowl, and the
other shows a figure guarding his genitals with his hands

(16:19):
as leopards surround him. Dating to the Neolithic era, it's
the oldest narrative art ever discovered.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Had a rough day, so eleven.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
Thousand years old. This one is fascinating. The oldest Hotel
is a luxury hotel and hot spring resort situated near
a small village in Japan. It opened the business in
the year seven oh five seven five. Huh this hotel
and it's still open and still run by the founders

(16:50):
descendants fifty two generations and more than one thousand, three
hundred years later.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Isn't that amazing?

Speaker 3 (16:57):
Isn't that crazy? I hope they've done some.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Uprad Yeah, that is news to me. That is also

Fun fact for a Heidi John. The world record holder
for the book stolen most often from libraries is the
Guinness Book of World Records. Oh yeah, that's stolen more
than any other book from libraries.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
I don't know why.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
I don't know. Fun fact for any What was that, John?
If you fall asleep as soon as you go to bed,
experts say, chances are you are sleep deprived.

Speaker 3 (17:57):
Uh huh, that would be you.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Is very true. How about this fun fact for a Heidi? Typically,
the larger the animal, the less sleep it needs. Say
that's also why sleep? Because I don't need his momma.
I'm a big mammal. Another fun fact for you, Heidi,
ninety seven percent of women kiss with their eyes closed.
Only thirty seven percent of men do. Do you kiss

(18:20):
with your eyes over closed?

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Closed? O?

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Me too? Apparently that's why I didn't know. How about
this fun fact for you, Heidi. An apossum place dead,
it can emit a smell like rotting meat.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Oh that's cool.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
I will do one more fun fact for you, Heide.
According to Picklepacker International, the crunch of a pickle should
be audible from ten paces.

Yeah.

Time now for some weird news. I really wish we
had a story like this right before Halloween. But nonetheless, Hopkinsville,

(19:06):
Kentucky received a shocking delivery when she opened a package
expecting medicine but instead found body parts.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Es I saw this.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
This is so weird.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
It confirmed that arms and fingers used for medical training
were accidentally delivered to her home instead of the women's
medical ic medication order. The corner retrieved the misdelivered body
parts and transported them to the morgue, where they were
returned to the courier for delivery to the intended destination.
She confirmed the body parts are sometimes shipped for transplants
and research purposes.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
Yikes, yikes, that is awakening when you're opening up your mail.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Yeah, we didn't have this for Halloween, but here we are,
you know, just in time for this time a year.
I guess weird news. Thank you for listening to the

Sales of these are up three hundred percent in the
last ten years. What are they I'll bet they are.
There's a lot of people have these now that never
used to have these.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Handguns.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
No headphones. I like your answer, though, No, that's not
up three hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Headphones.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
You see people all the time that are walking around
wearing headphones, and I would tell you this, if you
do that, just put one in your ear, not both,
because when you're oblivious to what's going on in the world.
I know somebody that was hit by a train and killed.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
We had a guy working at our house and I
went downstairs. He had headphones in and he I was
literally yelling his name. I was like hey, hey, and
and when he turned and saw me out of the
corner of us, I jumped.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
I was like, dude, take one of those.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
I was like, well careful out there.

Speaker 6 (21:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:09):

Speaker 3 (21:31):
This is hilarious. I've got some last wishes. Wolf Johnson,
who is in the Temptations and the Platters, he was
like the deep voice.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
He also is the voice of the Chili's commercial. Well,
my baby back. You remember those commercials?

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Remember those?

Speaker 7 (21:49):
So for his.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Funeral, they adopted the ad from the Barbecue theme song
as the theme at his funeral, a choir saying a
stirring rendition of the Chili's jingle while guests could gowk
at a barbecue sauce fountain. What live pigs were running
around sculptures of babyback ribs and ascend off, delivered by

(22:15):
the minister in a chef's hat.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
All right, well, you know, to each their.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Own, right, I mean, let me one heck of a party.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
But yeah, that's weird.

Speaker 7 (22:26):
That is it is weird.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Something special with Heidi Small.

Speaker 7 (22:29):

Time Now for the list we started this yesterday. The
darker days, the colder weather, the fall, the winter, all
that stuff a seasonal depression can say. And here's expert tips.
I've got all of them, even the ones that I
mentioned yesterday in the show notes for today as well.
So we're up to number three. Be open to awe.
Look for moments of wonder, stars, branches, birds, because nearby

(23:21):
nature can actually spark amazement. Next, take your thoughts for
a walk. They say walking outdoors helps creativity and gives
mental space. So bundle up and then let the movement
free up thinking. Let your mind wander as you wander outside.
And number five, maintain connection. They say, get outside with others.

(23:41):
Social connection plus nature boosts your mood and your resilience.
So they say the bottom line, don't wait until you
feel ready, just step outside. Any small action can actually
shift your mood. So they're like, if it's cold, just
bundle up and then still just get out there and
you know, do stuff. Here's the other thing. Use your
phone to call people, talk to them, not just message,
but call and talk to people. That's always good. I

(24:03):
do have the list in the show notes for today

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
