Now surveys and studies and such. A surprising new study
suggests that tattoos may play a role in lowering melanoma risk.
Published in the Journal of National Cancer Institute, the research fund,
people with two or more tattoo sessions had a reduced
risk of the deadly skin cancer, with risk dropping further
as the number of tattoos goes up. So four or

(02:37):
more sessions was linked to a fifty six percent lower risk.
Three or more tattoos was only it was a seventy
What was that four or more? Three or more cut
the risk by seventy four percent the research type. Yeah,
I don't know anyway. Factors like sun safety, habits, immune
responses could explain the effect. Researchers also found that getting

(02:59):
a first tattoo four year twenty was associated with a
significantly lower risk of melanoma. So I just don't understand
any of that. But if you want to read it,
I've got the details, and it's from the National Cancer Institute.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
I should be good to go.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Heidie's Riddled and Tattoos we make it sound like you're
covered from head to toe, like.

mounting a port offense. He's gotten all kinds of trouble.
That's the guy from that seventy show. Yeah, I remember this,
so yeah, that whole I don't know. He filed a
petition to appeal anyway. I don't know what's going to
happen there. But I've not really talked about all of
that stuff much because I don't know what's going on,
and there's part of me that doesn't want to know

(04:04):
what's going on. The Critics Choice Association announced that comedian
TV host and seven time New York's time bestselling author
Chelsea Handler will return as the host for the thirty
first Annual Critics Choice Award, her fourth year in a row.
By the way, and I'm looking to see It'll be
on USA Network on January the fourth and Saturday Night Live.

(04:25):
They've got their full December lineup ready to go. Josh
O'Connor will host December thirteenth. Who else is on the
list here? Ariana Grande Share is going to be on
the show. Really, she has not apparently been there for
thirty five years, so I'm looking to see if there's
other things. Melissa McCarthy is on the list, And anyway,

(04:46):
I've got the whole list if you want to read it,
it's in the show notes for today at John adheidishow

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Heidi, did you know that a wombat their fecal matter
is cube shaped?

Speaker 3 (05:26):
I did not. I would be very interested in knowing
how that process exactly breaks down.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Don't know, but native to Australia, they produce cube shaped
pooh pooh. It's an unusual thing that helps prevent this
from rolling away and it allows the mombat to markets
territory more effectively. The shape is the result of the
wombat's highly effective digestive system, which extracts as much water
as possible from its food before it, you know, plops

(05:52):
out a little cube.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
That is fascinating.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah, that's weird. We don't know everything, but now we know.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
This the gnant Haidi Shoe.

Speaker 2 (06:19):

Speaker 3 (06:19):

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Gladys? Who Gladys?

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Finally Thanksgiving in the United States of America.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
How long have you been holding on to that one? Wow?
Thank you? Heide? Have you had that a while or
did you just pop up? Did it just pop up
like this week or did you.

Speaker 3 (06:36):
I'm not saving any of this. I would not save this.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
This is a horrible I don't know if that was
good enough to tuck away for later. I have no idea.
That is your joke of the day on the John
and Heidie show.

Speaker 7 (06:44):
Hi, I'm pastor Brian with New Freedom dot Online dot Church,
a non denominational Bible based Christian church that meets entirely online.
A church for everyone, including those of physical limitations, mental
health struggles, even church hurt. You are welcome, you are ce,
and you belong. God's truth is timeless, and we share
it in a way that applies to life today in

(07:04):
today's world. It's digital. God does not need walls or
stained glass. Join us at Newfreedom dot Online dot Church.
No buildings, no pressure, Come find new freedom.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Time now for the scoop of the day. Feeling overwhelmed
by NonStop notifications and digital demands, Yes, experts say a
growing wellness trand called invisible day might be the rest
I'm sorry, the reset rather that you need. The idea
is simple, unplug everything for twenty four hours. No emails,
no text, no social media, just your mind and body resting.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
There's no way I could ever convince you to do that,
never in a million years.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
I'd like to do that, but I don't know if
I could do that you. Occupational therapist Nicole Velegas adds
that it could boost your creativity and your self worth.
The key is to plan ahead, set boundaries with loved ones,
and fill your time with RESTful or playful activities. Experts
caution this is not for everybody. Those suffering from burnout
or depression may need more support before going fully off

(08:00):
for a day. So I need that support, Heidi and
Microdramas are emerging as the newest thing in video entertainment,
offering ultra short, mobile first episodes. We're having a coherent
plot and production. Polish seems to take a back seat.
Filmed vertically like tiktoks and Instagram reels and Facebook reels.
These series cost about two hundred thousand dollars to make

(08:22):
and they're split into about two minute installments. Viewers binge
a few episodes before being nudged to download an app
or make an in app purchase, kind of like a
freemium gaming models where it's free, but then they're like, oh,
you should upgrade. You know. Popular already in China, they're
about seven billion dollar industry right now, is now taken
over the world. In the US, it's only eight hundred

(08:44):
nineteen million as of last year, projected to be three
point eight billion by twenty thirty. With traditional film struggling
at box offices, microdramas offer act actors some work and
writers and other people some work, but they are apparently
far from award worthy, so we'll see. I have to
check one of those out. That is your scoop of
the day on The John and Heidie.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Show, THEE Heidie Show.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Thank you so much for listening to The John and
Heidie Show, brought to you in part by Jascasemedical dot com.

It's time right now for Dear John letters. I always

(09:28):
like this kind of letter because there's, like, you know,
dating advice, And if there's anybody in the world with
good dating advice, it's my wife, Heidi. So here we go,
Dear John. I started dating my girlfriends six months ago.
About two months into our relationship, she lost her job.
I let her move in with me to help out.
She says she's applying for jobs, but she hasn't even
gotten an interview. I've been paying my bills and helping

(09:51):
her with some of her bills so she doesn't get behind.
I also buy our food, and I make sure that
we have heat and electricity.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Well.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
She bought a lottery ticket last week and won two
thousand dollars. I asked her to pay me back for
some of her bills that I've paid. She wants to
use this money to buy Christmas presents for her family.
They barely even talk to her. They're very upset that
she's living with me. I'm actually thinking I need to
ask her to move in with them. I'm pretty sure
that would mean that we'd probably break up, but I'm

(10:21):
actually okay with that. I absolutely loved her six months ago,
but these last few months I've seen a different side
of her, and it's not a great side. Do you
think it would be wrong of me to break up
with her and ask her to move out? I feel
like the timing might be bad with Christmas next month,
Signed fed up boyfriend. I'm going to sit back and
let Heidi tyar this one apart.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Bye bye sister, kick her out.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Here's the thing. I feel bad that you're in this situation,
and I can tell you I can relate, you know.
I remember back when I was young and stupid. Now
I'm old and stupid. When I was young and stupid,
there was a young lady that moved in with me,
and it didn't take long for me to realize we
are not compatible right, And then I didn't know how.
I'm like, how do I break up with her? How

(11:03):
do I do this without her hating me? Like she's
gonna hate me? But it didn't anyway. When it came
right down to it, I'm like, you know what, we
got to break up. It's not gonna work out. I'm
so sorry. And then she was mad at me and
I got over it. I'm sure she's probably gotten over it.
That was thirty some years ago. So but here's the thing.
Unless you see some sort of path forward where you go, hey,
I want to spend the rest of my life with you,

(11:25):
it really doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Your life is a way so long. It's if you
know it's not right, if you feel like it's not right.
And if if you're doing all of this for her
and she can't even reimburse you for her bills that
you've paid, no, it's time to say goodbye. And she
has no job, she really can't afford to be buying
Christmas gifts for anybody.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
And the thing is, if her family would be what.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Was she doing out buying lottery tickets? So she's got
no money?

Speaker 2 (11:48):
I kind of thought the same thing. But if her
family would be upset with her that you didn't buy
me a gift, you know, when.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
You don't have a job, a job place.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
And it says right on here that they barely even
talk to her and they're upset that she's living with you, Well,
that would be the perfect opportunity for you to say,
you know what, I love the fact that you care
about your family and that you want to buy them
something nice. You should see which one of them is
going to let you move in, because I can't do
it anymore. I can't afford to can't afford. And you know,
if I'm causing a problem between you and them, I
want to get myself out of the equation. If that

(12:19):
means that you break up with me because I have
you move in with them, then I guess that's a
will risk I'm willing to take.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
But it's time for you to go.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
You got to go it again. It doesn't and it
doesn't have to be a negative thing, you know. I
think that there's a positive way to do this, And
you know one of those would just be, you know,
find out which one of the family members move all
the stuff over there yourself. Oh, don't do that. Okay,
maybe maybe that's not the answer. If you would like
to chime in, We've got some really good answers online

(12:46):
and I'm always tempted to read these, but I don't
have anybody's permission to read them on the radio, so
I'm not going to do that. But if you want to,
and I encourage you, fed up boyfriend, absolutely check those.
They always have better answers than I do. Heidi's got
good answers. But every time I'm answering these, I'm like,
why would anybody ask me for any advice on anything?
I mean, you want to know where some good food is,

(13:07):
ask me. I'm a fat guy. I can tell you
where the best food is. Other than that, I'm pretty
much out of things. But yeah, this fed up boyfriend.
The answer I think for you is to move on again.
Some really good answers at Facebook dot com slash John
and Heidi Show. And this time of year, we're getting
into the Christmas time of year where we're going to
be getting more Christmas letters every year we get and

(13:29):
it's funny because some of them are really really good.
If you would like to submit a letter, is there
anything you want to hear? Letters about Heidie's or something.
You're just craven, You're like, I want to give advice
on uh? No, God, nothing, nothing at all? All right, Well,
if you'd like to have a question answered by my
beautiful bride, Heidi, and I will do my very best
as well. And then, like I said, the most valuable
answers are people like you that chime in on our

(13:50):
Facebook page. You guys give great answers. But if you
have a question, submit it for next week. I don't
have a letter right now, so maybe it'll just be
me begging for letters next week. Say hey, pretty please
Samuel letter. Otherwise, submit yours and it'll be your letter.
You can do that at Facebook dot com slash John
and Heidi Show.

That is a good movie.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
Yeah, great movie.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
I still think that would be cool to do a

you're having, by chance, some oysters, it's your fancy Thanksgiving
in the United States of America dinner. You can say
these are quite testatious.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
What is testageous?

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Having a heart outer show? Oh, very nice, very testagious, voluminous, voluminous.
I've heard a musical instrument similar to a harp.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Oh that's not how I've heard it.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Okay, yuck yuk, y e uk. The act of draining
a person, animal, or organ of blood. Depending on what
you're making, you may be able to utilize though that
stuff enzoanthropy, verbose, or wordly. Oh wow, and that's all

(16:21):
I've got and that's news to me.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
John?

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Vatican City is so oh tiny that it literally contains
five point nine popes per square mile. There's one pope,
but if you do the math on how many popes
per square mile, there's five point nine popes per square mile. Okay,
So apparently it's less than one square mile. How about
this fun fact for a hiding. It would take over
an hour for a heavy object to sink to the

(17:19):
deepest part of the ocean.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Isn't that crazy?

Speaker 2 (17:22):
So think about how fast it can go from here
to like it would take an hour for that go
all the way to the bottom. Fun fact for a hiding.
Scientists discovered a dinosaur tale perfectly preserved an amber in
twenty seventeen, and it was full of feathers. So I
wonder how many dinosaurs had feathers instead of scales. Yeah,

(17:42):
and we'll do one more fun You've.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Said that for years that there were a lot of
dinosaurs that had feathers.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
One more fun fact for you heiding such on rats
pro create so quickly that within a year and a
half two rats could have over a million descendants. Isn't
that wild? Yeah, it's kind of creepy too. Several fun
facts you know. Thanks for listening to The John and

some weird news. A cruise passenger was caught in a
nerve racking moment when they became stuck in a water

(18:24):
slide dangling over the ocean. A thirteen second TikTok video
posted back in September shows the passenger wriggling around inside
a transparent tube well trying to move forward. Another passenger
can be seen can be heard rather exclaiming, oh my god,
she's literally stuck.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
Oh no.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
The clip went viral a the way back in September,
racking up over seven million views and two hundred and
thirty eight thousand likes. By the way it was shared
on other platforms. What exactly happened to the woman and
whether she was able to scoot her way to the
bottom of the slide is unclear because there was never
a follow up apparently, or if the was, it didn't
get viewed.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
Well, I'm sure she was able to get out, otherwise
we definitely would have heard about that.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Oh seven million views, that's how many.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Yeah, that is pretty wild. I had a TikTok that
had two million views. It's always the dumbest things that
people watch. By the way, it's like, that's what I'm

of us have done this at a frand's birthday party.
What is it I think we've done this. I know
we've done this at your parents' house.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
I don't know which part of your talking.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
To watch a sporting event Heidi, we did that at
your parents' house. What are you talking about? The look
on your face makes me think that you're talking about

Speaker 3 (20:43):
From India, never got the chance to learn how to read.
She was born to a low cast family and without
education opportunities. Then she married at the age of age sixteen,
where she worked full time as a mother and housewife.
But after observing her grandchildren studying, she was motivated to
finally hit the books. Her neighbor, who happened to be

(21:04):
a teacher, volunteered to instruct her. In twenty twenty, after
studying for months in the mornings and the evenings, she
scored an impressive eighty nine percent on the state literacy exam.
She also set the record for being the oldest person
in India to ever pass the test for the first time.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Nice, how old do you think?

Speaker 4 (21:21):
She was?

Speaker 3 (21:22):
One hundred and four nours old? Cool is she can
now read books along with her great great grandchildren.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
That is really cool.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
That's such a sweet story.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
I love that. That's really really neat. It is awesome.
Thank you. That is something special with Heidi Sis. It's
never too old to learn, No, it never is.

Time not for the list. I think this is really funny.
Supposedly these are real things overheard in a plastic surgeon's office.
So people that are in work in different plastic surgery offices,
they all chimed in about things that they've overheard. So
one lady, it's a scalpel, not a magic Wand this
is maybe my favorite list, but I am smiling. Can

(22:37):
I have a lift? Does that mean you need to
write home? Or you need let's not get the law involved. WHOA,
This is going to be a top notch botch. Somebody said,
like the Joker's mouth, but wider. Oh, I don't know
if they were talking about something that didn't turn out.
And we'll do one more, one more facelift and you'll

(23:00):
be able to blink your lips.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
So many people have gone overboard.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
This list, and there's more, some talking about things I
don't want to talk about on the radio. You can
read them in the show notes for today at johndeidishow
dot com.

MyPillow dot com use promo code happy. We always like
to wrap things up around here with good news, and
I think this is good news. She lost her daughter,

(23:40):
and now our legacy is bringing joy to hundreds of
other children. A Colorado mom turned heartbreak into a joyful
gathering place for every kid in her community, and the
results are bringing smiles and sometimes happy tears to families
across a place called Sterling Ranch. Jeanette Reynold spent years
dreaming of a full inclusive playground in honor of her daughter, Madison,

(24:02):
who lived with a rare genetic condition called listen Nathan
the Pie. I probably said that wrong. It causes significant
development challenges, making it difficult to find parks that were
truly accessible. But whenever Madison did find a place that
she could enjoy, her mother said that she absolutely lit up.
So she was disabled and sadly passed away back in
twenty eighteen. But here's the cool thing. Her mother decided,

(24:27):
I am going to do something to spread some joy,
and she launched a nonprofit called Miles for Madison. She rallies, support,
doing fundraisers, partnered with Sterling Ranch to make this dream
a reality where they live, and now the dream is
standing tall, or rather swinging or sliding or bouncing tall
in the heart of the community. This new inclusive park
is completely wheelchair accessible and it's packed with thoughtful features

(24:51):
designed with input from families of children with special needs.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
Love that.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
So there's just a lot of neat stuff here. And
if this is something that interests you, I I would
like Uh, I'm going to let you know. I do
have a link to it. It's in the show notes

well from CBS. They did a story about this really
really cool thing. So anyway, I've got that in the

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
