Now surveys and studies and such. Picture yourself, Heidi being
seated by the host at a restaurant who promptly shows
you a table that you're expected to share with somebody
you don't even know. Would you be okay with that
new Well? A new survey suggests gen z is excited
about it. They're redefining dining norms and apparently they don't
mind doing shoulder to shoulder eating with strangers. Wow Reservation
(02:56):
platform rezi r e s Y found that Yanngadel's are
enthusiastically embracing communal dining, a trend that many think ended
with college cafeterias and I opening. Ninety percent of gen
Z said, yeah, I'd enjoyed doing that. Sixty percent of
baby boomers thought that sounded like a cool ideaw Among
those who like it, sixty three percent cited the appeal
(03:17):
of meeting new friends or even potential dates. The shift
reflects a desire for offline connection in an increasingly online world.
It is so said structured group settings feel more comfortable
than one on one invitations, shared dishes a rising two
ninety seven percent of gen Z is willing to split food,
even with somebody they just met. No, yeah, I'm not interesting.
(03:38):
Although I will tell you we were on a vacation
one time and there was a lot of people in
line to get into a restaurant, and it was a
lot of couples, and there was a couple with us,
and we're like, do you guys want to sit together?
Then we'll just get one table instead of you know,
and we've stayed in touch with them and we're friends
with them now, so it's not that weird. Okay, it
might be weird. Surveys and studies and such. On The

I'm gonna let you guess, how long do you think?
The shortest war in history? Last?
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Three days?
Speaker 2 (05:53):
No, thirty eight minutes? It was the Anglo Zanzibar war
fought between the United Kingdom and some guy named Gary.
Just kidding, it wasn't It was the Sultan of Zanzibar
August twenty seventh, eighteen ninety six. Considered the shortest worn history.
It lasted thirty eight minutes. The Sultan's forces quickly surrendered
after heavy bombardment. Bombardment rather from the British Navy. So
(06:16):
now you know the shortest worn history thirty eight minutes.
I've had dinners last longer. So we don't know everything,

Speaker 3 (06:47):
You boiled a lot of it?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Oh wow, one I actually did like that was actually
pretty good. Yeah that's still bleep you though, because well
otherwise I'll get a call from somebody there you go.
That is what was that again?
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (07:03):
The joke of the day. That's with heighty small Hi.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Time off for the scoop of the day. We do
that at this time each day. The Great American Smokeout
started a little over like a week ago. I think
it was the twentieth maybe of November. And I got
to tell you something that's kind of cool. I know
two people who quit smoking during the Great American Smokeout.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Oh that's good.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah. And then we have a friend who quit smoking,
but he quit smoking when he was diagnosed with cancer
and then he never smoked again. He's like, I'm done,
I'm gonna just quit doing that, and I was like, well,
wouldn't it have been great to do that, like right
the cancer And then my mother quit smoking for lent
and she never started smoking again. So if if that
is a thing that you've been trying to quit and
you're like, I just don't know how to do it,
(08:13):
there are so many ways yes to take the first step.
And if you need help again, just go on the
internet and search for Great American Smokeout and there's a
bunch of advice and ideas and things, and it's available
to anybody anywhere in the world. So it's it's all
available and it's usually free. So one of the latest
TikTok trends is the good night bro trend. Heidi showed
this to me, I did.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
It's so funny.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Men call their male friends unexpectedly just to say good night.
And it's a good thing actually. According to an article
Psychology Today, the gesture could lead to mental health benefits
for both the person calling and the person getting the call.
This trend breaks traditional norms that discourage emotional expressions coming
from men, offering a low pressure way to show care
(08:56):
and show strength in friendships. According to the article, increase
Connection Support for mental health might actually play a role
in suicide prevention, particularly as rates of suicide in males
has gone up because of loneliness. Experts note the practice
could be especially useful in high stress professions like law enforcement,
(09:16):
where stigma often prevents officers from seeking support. The calls
act as an informal buddy check, fostering routine connections and
early intervention. Here's the thing. These calls are meant to
be silly. They record them because.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
They're like, yeah, that's what I was just gonna say. Yeah,
It's all well and good until the person that's called
realizes they put you online to make fun of you,
and that's a fession.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
So do that in real life, but don't do it
as a joke.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Right, if you're seriously wanting to call and check out somebody,
call and check on I think that's wonderful, but don't
don't do it'll fun of.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
The response exactly. That is your scoop of the day

(10:06):
Excited to visit with not one, but two amazing guests
today as we talk with Sarah Drew and Peter Mooney,
we're going to talk about the Mistletoe Murders on the
Hallmark Channel. They had the very successful first season and
a very successful second season just wrapped up, and we're
going to talk right now with Sarah tell us a
little more about the Mistletoe Murders.
Speaker 7 (10:25):
It's a very fun mashup of the murder mystery genre
and the Christmas genre together. It's a christmastery, if you will.
I play a Christmas shop owner who is crazy for Christmas,
and she also has some special skills that a Christmas
shop owner should not possess that we begin to discover
as soon as bodies start dropping in their quaint little
(10:49):
town of Fletcher's Grove, and then she winds up wedding
heads with and then growing in affection. Four the town
detective detective Sam Wilner, who is always on the case,
but she is always pushing her way onto the case
and oftentimes catching things that she misses, thank you very much.
(11:09):
So we have murder mysteries that we solve every two episodes,
but the bigger, overarching mystery over the course of these
two seasons is the bigger mystery of who is Emily Lane?
Where did she come from? Is she running from someone
that she what is her past? So we get to
explore that more so in season two again.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Missiletell Murders Season two just finished wrapping up, but people
can still watch both seasons in streaming, right.
Speaker 8 (11:35):
Yes, that's right. It's on Hallmark Plus, so if people
want to do a deep dive binge, you can find
all the previous episodes on Hallmark Plus.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Yeah, and Peter, let's talk about your character in the
Missiletel Murders.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (11:47):
I played Detective Sam Wilner, a small town detective and
single father of a very charming teenage daughter whose life
gets extremely complicated when Emily Lane comes to town, a
Christmas shop owner who just has a real neck for
solving murders and a seeming inability to not get herself
(12:08):
involved in them.
Speaker 7 (12:09):
She gets very entrenched, very quickly.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
And I think with all of the murder mystery content
out that that people are watching and people are listening
to it would be pretty easy for somebody to get
caught up with this and want to be involved in
this in real life.
Speaker 7 (12:21):
Oh absolutely. I mean I think we have a billion
amateur salutes out in the world at this point. There's
so there's so much true crime content, both on audiobooks
and podcasts and on television and movies and just in
the news, if we're being honest, and a lot of
people find this sort of hunt a very exciting hunt
(12:42):
to figure out. Okay, let's collect the clues, let's figure
out who did this. So yeah, my kids, for one,
really love this show and they love trying to figure
out who did it, and they're often wrong, they're partially right,
but it's a really fun journey for them to take.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
And Peter, you just wrapped up season two of the
Missiletoe Murders. Are we anticipating a season three or do
we not know that yet?
Speaker 8 (13:08):
We are waiting, just like the audists. We're waiting on
word of season three. I really hope. So we leave
season two with quite a curb book, quite a cliffhanger,
and I'm trying to see what happens after that.
Speaker 7 (13:21):
So fingers crossed We love making the show. It's a
very very happy set and a happy place to work,
and we love the quality of the show and we
love that the audience is really responding to it. So
we just hope we get to keep doing it. It's
so fun.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
I hope so as well. And Sarah, well, I've got
you on the line. I got to mention this. I
see that you're working on a project that includes like
a story about Jimmy Stewart, It's a Wonderful Life. Tell
me a little more about what you're working on there.
Speaker 7 (13:44):
Yes, I've just finish shooting that in Ireland, The Fall, actually,
and I play the iconic gossip columnist Heeta Hopper, who
was known for her scathing reviews and her radio show.
She had this ability of either tearing someone shreds are
building them up and to stardom, and she had a
really interesting relationship with Jimmy Stewart. So I think it's
(14:06):
going to be a really special movie. I had a
blast making it, and it really moving and if you
love It's a Wonderful Life, you're going to love this movie.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
And this time of year, I watch it at least once,
sometimes a couple of times every year. I love that movie.
Speaker 7 (14:19):
Absolutely. Yeah, it should be coming out next to close
next holiday season. I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Very cool. And again, our guests today have been Sarah
Drew and Peter Mooney. We're talking about the Missholetoe Murders
and Peter. Let's remind everybody if they want to watch this,
both first season and second season are available in streaming.
Where do I go to watch that?
Speaker 8 (14:37):
That's right, everything that's aired so far is available on
Hallmark Plus.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Very nice. Again, the Missiletoe Murders that's on Hallmark Plus
and their season one and season two are both out
right now. Our guests today are both featured in the
first and second season, Sarah Drew and Peter Mooney. I've
got a link to all of the information if you'd
like to see that. It's in the show notes for

More about people who have impersonated band members. In the
nineteen seventies, there was a band called Redbone. Are you
familiar with that?
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Yeah? I remember Redmon, Come.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
And Get Your Love, Maggie the Witch, Queen of New Orleans,
those songs. Anyways, when the board who booked the two
thousand and six but Silver Bow Fair in Montana heard
that Redbone wanted to play, they eagerly signed the group
to play three shows, three consecutive days, for a cutrate
performance rate of just sixty five hundred dollars. So they
(16:51):
were thrilled. Yeah, but when Redbone showed up for the
first show, only two of the promised musicians arrived. Frontman
Denny Freeman and the rest of Redbone couldn't make it
because they'd all contracted the contact of the Mumps. Of
course they did, so local musicians filled in on the
last minute performance for the missing members. Yeah, and it obviously.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Was not them, just some dude.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
The real members of the man obviously were not happy.
One person said, I'd like to grab him by the
throat and shake him like an old rug and the
Redbone manager said, I've just I've been in business for
forty years. I've never run into anything this blatant.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
That is weird.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
So he had apparently been told the told the fairboard
that he was a founding member of Redbone Vegas said.
When caught in his life, Freeman offered to pay back
his sixty five hundred dollars performance fee.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
That's wild. I actually saw a gentleman who performed as
Frank J. Wilson or J Frank Wilson either way, the
guy that's sang Last Kiss from nineteen sixty four, and
then we found out afterwards that he was not really
himed that gentleman had passed away years ago. So I've
actually seen this happen in real life. Heidi, it is.
Speaker 3 (18:06):

The game YACHTZI got its name because it was invented
by a couple on their yacht.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Oh wow, how lovely is that?
Speaker 2 (18:53):
It could have been called something completely different if they
were alone. Fun fact for you, Heidie was that blue
whale tongues can weigh as much as an elephant. I
feel like we just said that recently. I having weird
deja vu.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Fun fact for you, Heide. Habitual singing causes the body
to release leptin and appetite, suppressing protein. So if you
sing a lot, you're not as hungry. Apparently sing a lot,
I should sing more? Apparently. Fun fact for you, Heiding.
The world's smallest park is in Portland, Oregon. It's four

Speaker 8 (19:33):
We could.

dot Com time out for some weird news. Slovakia's government
has enacted a new law that has caught cyclists and
scooter riders off balance, a speed limit of just six
kilometers per hour or three point seven miles per hour
for these vehicles beginning in January. An advocate argues the
(20:20):
rule would mean children will break the law every day,
end quote, even as toddlers routinely expeed that limit. Additionally,
he points out that that slow speed makes it hard
to maintain balance even for an adult rider. The Slovakian
Parliament approved the measures to improve safety, saying those who
exceed the limit could be fined up to one hundred
(20:41):
euros as like one hundred and sixteen US dollars. It
is not yet clear how police would enforce such a law,
which also applies to rollerbladers and skateboarders. So yeah, starting
in January, you're gonna have a lot of people falling
off their bikes in Slovakia, is what I think we're
hearing here. That is some weird news right here on

Time now for something special with Heidi Small which he
got for me. There, Heidi, I've got another nice story.
(22:25):
Oh I like nice talk this one.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Let's see here. Elmer Alvarez and ROBERTA. Husky were strangers
who had never met until one day in November of
twenty seventeen, when Alvarez, who is living on the streets
of New Haven, Connecticut, found a ten thousand dollars check
with her name on it.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Husky was currently a real estate broker, but many years
earlier she had also been living on the streets as
a single mother no kid. So when he Alvarez tracked
her down and gave the check back to her, she
was blown away by his act of kindness by going
out of his way to make sure he found her,
and she could relate having been in that situation herself
(23:09):
and wanted to take good care of him. She set
him up in an apartment, paid his rent for the
first seven months nice and did that while he took
real estate classes which she paid for nice. At last report,
the two former homeless friends were now creating transitional home
to set up kids and young adults with aids and services.
(23:33):
So he had no idea who the person was behind
the check, said Husky that he just and she said,
there just needs to be more people like Elmer in
the world. He's a golden heart guy.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Is really cool. That is something special with Heidi Small Hi.

the person who put this together said we took anything
off that was not family friendly. So I don't know
how many there would have been, but these are the
top ten family friendly websites of this year thus far.
(24:43):
Yandex dot you are you? It's the Russian Google basically,
Oh okay, three point seven to one billion page views.
Chat GPT four point five seven billion is number nine.
X dot com is more popular currently than chat GPT
four point two seven So, uh, reddit is number seven
(25:04):
at five point one four billion. Ban dot com five
point was still thing. Yeah, yeah, it is the thing.
And I did an interview with uh Stephen Tobolowski who
played Needlehead ned Ned the Head, and he kept saying
bing in the and I said that would have been
a perfect commercial. He said, we actually recorded one. It
never aired. I never got paid for it. I don't
(25:24):
know what happened, but like I think that that could
have been a bigger deal. Signway. Thing Number five is
Instagram six point five billion. Four is Wikipedia six point
seven billion. It was down from nine point eight billion
this time last year. Facebook eleven point two billion, YouTube
fifty one point six billion, and what do you think
is the number one website in the world, Google? Yeah,
(25:46):
Google at one hundred and eleven point nine billion visits
monthly is what that is? All of these were monthly,
down from one hundred and sixty four billion monthly last year.
So I've got that list in the show notes for

things up around here with good news. And Heidi, I
think this is adorabal. A senior couple just got married
in a swimming pool at the YMCA.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
This was so cool is.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Where they met. Yeah, some love stories begin with a
spark with Edward and Marlene began with a splash, Heidie
stealing my punchline over here. According to this webpage, the
Illinois couple first cross paths in the water and an
aerobics class at a y m c A. Edward is
a young eighty two year old chap and Marlene is
(26:55):
just seventy eight. He's Robinson Cradle there, but they bonded
over the shared loss. They had some gentle flirting and
a few playful splashes in the pool. Marlene said, I
liked him. Both had lost their longtime spouses about six
years earlier. Neither was sure if they would ever remarry,
but their friendship turned into something deeper on their first
date back in December of twenty twenty three. It quickly
(27:16):
led to a proposal from Edward the following August. Marlene
took her time considering almost a full year before finally saying, oh,
poor guy, Yeah, but you know I understand that.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
That's when their love story took a wonderfully unexpected turn.
Ali Morgan, the YMCA's aquatics director had just earned her
minister's license. Half joking, she said to the pair, well,
you want to get married in the pool? I could
take care of that. I'd be the efficient and they're like,
you know what, Yeah, that would be really horrible. So
November the twelfth, surrounded by friends and family and floaties,
(27:51):
they tied the knot. The celebration. Oh where was I
on that one? The celebration even ac classic wedding touches
reimagine for an aquatic setting, a bouquet toss, a first dance,
and a little cake for everybody watching poolside so key.
So I think this is adorable and I do have
a link to it. It's in the show notes for
