decide on your last meal, what would you pick well?
According to a new survey, nearly two thirds of US
would have steak. The poll from the United States, seventy
percent said they consider themselves meat lovers men slightly more
enthusiastic than women. But it seems we're not just passionate
about steak, we're also picky. Forty one percent said they
judge anybody who orders a steak well done. Heidi is
(02:32):
one of those people very much that orders that doesn't
order it well done, that judges people. One in three
say that's a dating red flag. Most for fer their
steak medium or medium rare. Seventy eight percent insist it
should be grilled. Ketchup is another minefield. Forty two percent
criticize anybody using ketchup. Ribi Ranks is the favorite cut
some other findings. Forty percent say A one is their

Wicked for Good took in an estimated one hundred and
fifty million dollars their first month or their first week.
I was gonna say their first month, yees, two hundred
and twenty eight million worldwide. So they did okay, And
they actually beat the first Wicked, which was one hundred
and twenty five million and one hundred and sixty four globally,
So yeah, they did. They did quite well. Simon Cowell,

Heidi. Did you know the presence of Batman makes people
behave better? Yeah. In a new study, if Batman is
on a busy train or wherever, researchers found that thirty
seven percent of passengers would give up their seat to
a pregnant woman if Batman was there, what and somebody?
Oh so thirty seven percent usually would give up their seat,
but if Batman was there, it jumped up to sixty
(05:39):
seven percent.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
So yeah, so many other things on here. So the
research shows if Batman is there, you behave better. I
don't know why, but you do. We don't know everything,
but now we know this.

Oh, a dinosaur that takes care of its teeth, I
have no idea.

So now for the scoop of the day. And this
is kind of interesting. Mark Zuckerberg said Facebook will be
smarter than humans in ten years.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
I don't doubt it.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Yeah, well, I've seen some of the humans that are
commenting on Facebook, and I think that they've already beat us.
Their in some places, and speaking of robots, open ai
has introduced what some are calling a bizarre new feature
for chat GPT. Chapped groups or group chats, allow twenty
users to join a shared conversation with the chatbot. Does
(07:28):
that seem weird to you? Rolling out globally now to
all logged on users. The company says that it can
be used as a tool for planning trips or collaborating
on schoolwork Okay, that makes more sense, or work projects
organizing shared info with chat GPT acting as a helpful assistant.
Of course, you could also lead to other less wholesome uses,
(07:48):
like teens ganging up to pester somebody, or a friend
fact checking another friend to death. Open Ai says group
chats won't use personal memory and promises more privacy control ahead.
They say the group chat feature aims to make chat
GPT feel more social and collaborative, rather than a solo tool.
To use the feature, that you tap the people icon
(08:10):
on the upper right hand corner, up to twenty users
can be added. I have zero interest in this feature.
What do you think, Heidi?
Speaker 4 (08:17):
I wish we would kind of just step back from
all of this.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah, I think a lot of this seems really weird.
I can give you a list of movies to watch
if you think this is a good idea, but yeah,
I don't know. It just seems seems a little weird
to me. That is your scoop of the day on
The John and Heidie Show.

Thank you for listening to The John and Heidie Show
on a Wednesday. This could absolutely have been a movie
Star Monday, but here it is. It's a Wednesday, so
it's kind of a movie Star Wednesday. Lizzie Kaplan is
(08:58):
our guest today. In so many any amazing movies, we'll
chat about as many as we can, but we're going
to talk about one that's in theaters now now you
see me, now you don't. And Lizzie, congrats on the
amazing success you've had in your career.
Speaker 7 (09:10):
Thanks, thank you. Yeah, none as great as now you
see Me. Three in theaters.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Now, And the thing that's really fun for you. It's
a recurring role. So you were in Now you See
Me too. Do you like this character that you get
to be? And Now you See Me three?
Speaker 7 (09:26):
Yes, I play Lula. She's a blast. I remember in
the second movie. My main objective was to make her
sort of irritating and whatever the opposite of just like
a sexy magician lady would be. And they really let
me run with that, and it continues on in the
third installment.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
In the third installment, there's kind of a new crew
and then the four Horsemen come riding back in. We
get to see the old gang get back together again,
don't we.
Speaker 7 (09:53):
Yes, So at the beginning of this movie, it's been
ten years since we made number two. So now the
third one, Now you see Me, now you don't, we
are all the horsemen are estranged from one another. We're
no longer a crew that works together. And with these
newbies that come in, they bring us back together to
(10:17):
do one more trick, let's say.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
And the third installment again, Now you see Me, Now
you don't. It's in theaters right now, and this one
includes all sparkly diamonds, diamonds.
Speaker 7 (10:28):
Who doesn't like diamonds and a very sinister mustache twirling
foe played by Rosamond Pike. I just think you can
really tell how much fun these movies are to make
when you go and see them. And they really are
so fun to make. I love making them. I know
my cafmates feel the same way that we would make them.
(10:51):
For as long as they have us back, we will
show up and continue making them because it feels more
like vacation than a job.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Well, I hope that there's more because then now you
see me franchise. First of all, he's done very, very well.
But second of all, I don't know if you know this,
but because of this franchise, there are people who look
at magicians differently than the way they used to. Did
you know that I didn't know that.
Speaker 7 (11:13):
Well.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
I've got a friend who does magic. He's like a
magician for kids parties and whatever. But now when he
goes into the bank, he says that they watch him
a little closer. Ever since these movies came.
Speaker 7 (11:21):
Out, Ah cool, And.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
I don't think any magician now can go into any
casino without everybody in the casino expecting them to, you know,
pull some sort of sleight of hand trick and you know,
rob the casino or something.
Speaker 7 (11:34):
Yeah, well I think that's kind of great. We should
all be looking at magicians a little more closely. That's
the message of the film.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
I don't think it's the main message, but it is
a good message. Nonetheless, Well that's the message of the film.
Speaker 7 (11:46):
All magicians are criminals and you should look at them
very very closely.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Definitely sidey any magician that you see today, I think
is what we're saying. Yes, so I've tried to do
like card tricks and all of the fascinated by it,
but I am just clumsy. I can't do any of
this stuff. So you get to do this in a movie.
Do you know how to do any magic tricks like
in real life? Or is that something that's just you
only on the big screen?
Speaker 7 (12:10):
Not really? And then for the second movie, we all
had to go to magic school to learn our tricks.
So we did that for a while, and at that point,
a decade ago, I could do a few things. I
had some cool tricks. I have not kept it up,
and I didn't have to go to magic school for
this third film, so I am probably the most delinquent
(12:32):
in terms of magic. I'd say the best is Woody
or Dominic Sessa and Davy Franco has been throwing those
cards since day one, and so I think they've all
kept it up a lot, a lot more than I have.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
So, like backstage when you're not filming, is there just
like a whole bunch of fun magic tricks going on backstage?
Is that what's going on?
Speaker 7 (12:55):
Yes, there's a lot of magic going on off screen,
and again some people are more into it than others.
But yeah, we would always have like our magician consultants
around as well, so they were always doing magic tricks.
It's a great thing to have. I actually think most
workplaces would benefit from having some roaming magicians like doing
(13:16):
card tricks, you know, on your coffee breaks and stuff.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Absolutely again, now you see me, now you know, and
it's in theaters right now. Again our guest, Lizzie Kaplan. Lizzie,
thank you for your time today. I also got to
tell you before I let you go, my son loves Cloverfield,
so he loves you in that. And I'm a big
fan of Hot Tub Time Machine, so you're in some
of our favorite movies, so that's very cool. Thank you
again for chatting with me about this today.
Speaker 7 (13:36):
Thanks so much. That's really nice.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Thank you again, Lizzie Kaplan. She's in a film right
now that's on the big screens all over the country.
It's called Now You See Me, Now You Don't. I've

Today and tomorrow, I have some real life court cases
that actually happened.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
These are just the titles of those court cases. The
first one is Batman versus the Commissioner. What this was
a real real court case? Easter Seals Society for Crippled
Children versus Playboy Enterprises.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
What in the World?
Speaker 4 (15:28):
United States Versus forty barrels and twenty kegs of Coca Cola?
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Okay, oh, let's.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
See the California Coalition of Undressed performers versus Spearmint Rhino.
No idea what that is?
Speaker 3 (15:46):
I need to know more on all of you.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
United States versus forty three gallons of whiskey Okay, death
versus graves. Oh wow, United States versus ninety five barrels
more or less a leged apple cider vinegar.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
So these are all real court cause real court cases.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
One nineteen fifty eight Plymouth Sedan versus Pennsylvania, Okay, United
States versus twelve two hundred foot reels of super eight
millimeter film. And Schmuck versus the United States. Oh wow,
I've got a few more for tomorrow. But yeah, definitely interesting.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
What's that John?
Speaker 3 (16:59):
More photographs for taken in the last two minutes then
there were in the entire nineteenth century. Yeah, yeah, that
is wild. Fun fact for you Hiding. It takes an
average of two months to climb Mount Everest. Huh, I
wonder what the fastest ever is. If I couldn't do
it in one afternoon, I'm just not interested. What's that
(17:19):
I can't Okay, I'm not fun fact for you Hiding.
It would take one point two million mosquitoes biting you
simultaneously to drain all of your blood. So, in other words,
horrible way to die. Yeah, it is, but it sounds
like a Thursday in our backyard, so you're clear of that,
and we'll do one final fun fact for you, Heidi.
There is no speed limit for bicycles and the United Kingdom,
(17:41):

would you use garlic as a mouthwash? No, the clove,
which has been eaten from medicinal powers for centuries, might
fight bad breath. According to a new study out of
the United Arab Emirates, they had five different studies comparing
(18:27):
garlic extract mouthwash to a common antiseptic, chlorahexidine. They found
a three percent garlic extract nearly as effective, in some cases,
even superior at reducing salivary bacteria bacteria. This is hard
for me to say over the course of week. Garlic's
anti microbial effects are largely due to alison formed when
(18:48):
the clothes are crushed. It cannot match c XT against
some diseases causing microbes. It shows promise though against drug
resistant bacteria. Drawbacks include, of course, strong taste plus a
burning sensation. But for those seeking a natural alternative, garlic
might be a viable mouthwash opsikes, be like, did you
(19:09):
just eat a bunch of garlics? Does make sense to
my mouthwash weird news. On The John and Heidi Show.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
What is it that is such a broad question?
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Is I don't know, buy a Christmas gift for the themselves?
Speaker 4 (20:01):
I think everybody buys Christmas gifts for themselves at Christmas.
Speaker 3 (20:04):

Speaker 6 (20:31):
He We have some more.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Words that have changed over the course of time.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
These are interesting.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
The first one is hussy.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Hussy.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Yeah, today it means a disreputable woman.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
Back in the day it meant the mistress of a household,
so she was like the one in charge.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
Diaper okay it was. It is a garment worn by
incontinent people, typically babies. Yeah, it used to be a
white fabric with laid diamonds.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Oh wow.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Silly means lacking seriousness. It used to mean pious and blessed,
No kidding. Desire to want something greatly is what it
means today. Obviously, it used to mean to study the stars,
oh really, and quell today means subdue, but it used
to mean to kill. Oh those are a little closer together.
(21:23):
The rest of them are pretty pretty off. But I
just think that's fascinating.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
That is that is something special with Heidi Small.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
I'm Chris from Izzy Jim.

new report found that younger people often use weaker passwords
than older generations, despite growing up online. So I'm going

going to read, but I'm going to give you the

wrap things up around here with good news, and I
love this story. Volunteers send more than a thousand Christmas
(23:38):
cards to seniors who might otherwise not get any of that.
Hundreds of seniors across the Mid Island region and British
Columbia are going to be getting a handwritten Christmas card
this year, a small gesture that has become a powerful
tradition thanks to the compassion of one woman, well Wow,
and an army of volunteers that decided to join her.
(23:58):
The project started in twenty twenty when Christiana Conway, worried
about seniors who were isolated during the pandemic, thought that
a Christmas card might be nice. She and her husband
and a close friend sat down to write cards for
a few nearby home home centers or what do you
call them? Care homes? You know what I'm talking about,
even if I have no clue. The idea was simple,
(24:20):
but the impact was huge. It was the first card
for some of these people in years. Everybody talked about
how lovely it was, especially the seniors. We thought we'd
get some cards and drop them in, and then it
just grew from there.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Oh I love this.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Grew is an understatement. The first year there were three
hundred cards. Five years later, over three thousand cards, about
one hundred volunteers taking part through a community church called
Ocean Side Community Church. They say the need is absolutely real.
One of the managers at dementia unit said that this
is huge for them. They say they're getting cards and
(24:56):
they think that it's beautiful and it makes such a
huge difference. For Christina, the young lady that started it,
she said that it's very personal. She said, it's important
to think of our elders and remember that someday we
will be in their shifts. Absolutely, So if you'd like
to help, I've got all the information in the show
notes for today, and I've got a link where you
can actually say, hey, I want to volunteer, I want
(25:18):
to write some cards. It's all in the show notes
for today at John anddeidishow dot com. Time say goodbye, Heidi,
