Hey, I'm good. How are you?
Speaker 2 (00:27):
I'm fantastic. I'm excited to visit with Clark greg today.
He's an actor that's been in a whole lot of
fun stuff, a lot of that, like Marvel movies and that,
and he's in a new project called The Artist. Now
there's a bunch of real people in this, but I
don't think it's based on a true story. It's kind
of like a who Done It? Anyway. Part one came
(00:48):
out on a Thanksgiving Day in the USA. Part two
comes out on Christmas Day. So we're going to chat
with him a little bit about Part one that's out already,
and then Part two is coming out, so we're gonna
chat all about that. It's again the artist and it's
on a new thing called the Network. I've got all
the details in the show notes for today at John

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Today is maplesyrup day Ooh.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
That sounds sticky.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Yeah, it sure does. And I've found a cocktail called
the Maple Leaf Oh Wow, which of course has Canadian
whiskey which you would expect, lemon juice and maplesyrup, which
is interesting. The lemon juice part.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I wouldn't have thought of that. Yeah. Anyway, that's it.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
That's it, that's all.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
I've got a link to that drink. It's in the

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Well at all.
Speaker 5 (02:00):

just reach out when you tell you what it's worth.

Now, surveys and studies and such. New research challenges the
idea of a happy weight. That's a theory that content
content couples tend to soften up because they spend time,
you know, just like snuggling up and eating ice cream
and watch TV together. U CLA researchers found that strong,
supportive marriages may actually protect against obesity. Nearly one hundred
(02:44):
adults were evaluated everything from BMI to diet, to brain
scans to hormones to gut health. Those in nurturing marriages
had a lower body mass index, fewer signs of food addiction,
and better control over cravings. It was also determined that
happy couples tend to have healthier gut meta metabolites. I
don't know how you say that anyway, and hire oxytocin. However,
(03:06):
we say that one the love hormone. I'm just diving
right through all this anyway. It's link to lower stress,
better self control. The findings suggests that stable, supportive relationships
may boost metabolism, curb overeating, strength and habits, and keep
your weight in check. So I don't know what that says.
Apparently that's saying we have a horrible marriage because since
we got married, I've gained some weight, but I'm happy.
(03:28):
I still go with the happyweight thing. Surveys and studies

Big Screen, Little Screen. Netflix has gone and done it again,
winning a key prize with the announcement of the Golden Globes,
claiming bragging rights as the top distributor with thirty five
nominations across film and TV, so they did very very well.
And we don't have Netflix currently, we've had it in
the past. We get it one month at a time now,
so if there's something that we're gonna do that we
(04:12):
want to see, I'll get it and then I cancel
right away, and that because I don't have time, I
have time to watch it, and that works.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Really.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
We do the same thing with others too. And for
the first time ever, Hallmark Channel is teaming up with
Walt disney World for a new original movie Holiday Ever
after a disney World wish come true. They're gonna be
shooting on location at disney World Resort, Florida, and it
looks like it's going to be kind of any thing.
It's gonna actually air during the twenty twenty twenty twenty
sixth seventeenth Annual count Down to Christmas, so it's gonna
(04:40):
be a little ways before we get to see that,
but that'll be cool. Big screen, a little screen on
the John and Heidi Show.

Heidi. Did you know the unicorn is Scotland's national animal. Yeah,
it's not a lion or an eagle. It is the
mythical unicorn. The unicorn was chosen because of its symbolic
connection to purity and strength, and it's been part of
Scotland's royal heritage since the twelfth century. So they say
that it's a mythical unicorn. You know there is a unicorn, right, Yeah,
(05:39):
the rhinoceros. If you look at its scientific unicorn is
something something something something. Yeah, there you go. We don't
know everything, but now we know this.

time out for the joke of the day with my
beautiful bride, Heidi Small. What do you have for me? Heidie?
Oh no, that's that's not a good sign.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
This is just so dumb.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Not a good sign. When she laughs in advance, a.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Weasel walks into the bar.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Okay, what can I get you?
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Said the bartender, Pop goes the weasel.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Well, I thought you were laughing because it was a
naughty no. It turns out she's laughing because it's just dumb.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Dumb.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Indeed, that's even dumb on my scale, so that's a
tough scale to get to dumb. That is your joke
of today on the John and Heidie Show, I'm.

Time now for the scoop of the day. Cassettes are back, baby,
once left dead, left for dead, rather by CDs and
then streaming audio. Cassette sales in the UK and the
US recently hit their highest level in decades. Heidi, helped
by major artists like Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. Are
those singers? Is it yes kidding? They released their new
albums on cassette. While far from their eighties peak sales,
(07:33):
cassettes offer something digital formats cannot, nostalgia, a sense of connection,
and the ability to physically touch your music collection. Fragile, inconvenient,
lo fi, but still they appeal to fans who enjoy
owning a physical object and embracing slower, more intentional ways
of listening. I actually do like cassettes, and that cassette
player right over there actually works. And I've got a
(07:54):
whole bunch of cassettes right over here. I don't listen
to them though those are all vintage. I'd be afraid
to break.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Them just decorate.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yeah, and major retailers and tech giants are rolling out
new AI tools to help you with your holiday shopping,
offering smarter recommendations, price tracking, and even hands free purchasing.
I mean, don't we all want that? Walmart and Amazon
and Google and Open Ai, they're all using AI assistance.
The compare products, recall preferences and answer detailed questions, sometimes
(08:22):
even calling stores for you to check their stock. What
AI potential to simplify the search for the perfect present
is most apparent in tools that promise to give shoppers faster,
more detailed results than a web browser can, and a
lot fewer clicks. Salesforce estimates AI will influence you ready
for this number, seventy three billion dollars in global holiday
(08:46):
sales this year alone. That's way up from last year.
And for the first time, not only can AI agents
complete some purchase automatically, Open AI and Amazon and Google
are working on tools that would allow for seamless AI
powered shopping by taking consumers from browsing to buying within
the same program, instead of having to go to a
retailer's website, you know, to do all that purchasing and stuff.
(09:07):
I'm not ready for the future.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
But it's here me neither. It's here whether we like
it or not.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
That is your scoop of the day on The John

Thank you for listening to The John and Heidie Show
on a Wednesday. Excited to visit with Clark Greg and
he is in a ton of movies. He could absolutely
(09:36):
be a movie star Monday guest. But Greg, thanks for
joining us on this Wednesday. You know, I'm from the
Marvel Cinematic Universe and a bunch of other stuff. Now,
he's in a new project. It's called The Artist. The
first half came out on Thanksgiving Day in the USA.
Now the second half is coming up real soon this
month on Christmas Day. It's on a new network called
(09:57):
The Network. The project is called The Artist, and Hark
tell us a little bit about The Artist.
Speaker 8 (10:02):
Well, it's a really interesting thing. First of all, it's
delivery mechanism and that the creator of the show, Aaron Rappoporto,
a really lovely guy and a wonderful writer director who
I just met on this he wanted to do it
his own way and in a way that feels almost
more like as if Sundance Film Festival was being reborn
(10:24):
as a TV streamer and instead of going through jumping
through all the corporate hoops and it would be impossible
to do a period drama set in New York in
the early nineteen hundreds for less than tens and tens
of millions of dollars, And he launched his own streamer
that you could download for free onto your Apple TV
(10:44):
or your ROK or your TV, and he made something
really beautiful for a lower number than probably we would
have had, but because the script was great, and because
there's something really thrilling about doing a piece about that
period with all these famous characters, and he plays des
Ga Hanka's area, plays Thomas Edison, everyone I'd slay a
(11:06):
guy named Harry Thaw who was the murderer suspect in
what was the Crime of the Century. He murdered Stanford White,
the famous architect who designed a lot of the buildings
in New York at the time. So it's a really
cool period piece and it's about a lot of things
that feel very of this moment. My character, for example,
is the really reckless, wild dark son of very very
(11:30):
rich people and doesn't have boundaries and lays waste to
a lot of people's lives. Because he doesn't have those boundaries,
he's able to escape the law. For me, that feels
I don't know topical.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Now. A lot of the characters in this are based
on real people, so like Thomas Edison and the artist Dega.
I know they're real people, but any of this based
on like real stuff or is it all just Hollywood?
Speaker 8 (11:53):
Well, it took place in nineteen oh four, and there's
been a toun written about it, and there's a lot
of court transcripts from the trial. Other than the fact
that these are real characters, I do think there's some
dramatic license that's taken to tell a great story. I
don't think anyone in mind.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
And it looks absolutely fascinating. The artist is in two
different parts. The first part came out on Thanksgiving Day
in the USA and the second part doesn't come out
till Christmas, So they're making us wait to see how
this wraps up. So I think that's kind of cool.
When I was a kid, we always had to wait
like till the next week to see what the next
episode was going to be. So that's kind of how
it used to be on the Artists. We get to
(12:31):
wait and we'll unwrap the next episode on Christmas Day.
Speaker 8 (12:34):
One of the exciting things, as I said about this,
is that they're a little bit reinventing the game, and
they're doing it the way that they feel like this
story should be should be released and told, and I
think it will be surprised, and I think there'll be more.
There'll be more shows coming from this network, artist driving shows,
and they'll be probably more streamers. So that's kind of
(12:55):
the put the creative control back in the hands of artists.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
And this new streaming network is the network that's where
you go to find the artist. I've got a link
to that so folks can easily click on and find
all the details and watch a trailer and learn more
about the artist. Now I've got you on the line.
I got to talk to you, because man, people know
you from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from the New Adventures
of Old Christine, and so many other things. When you're
out like and about and people come up to you
(13:19):
on the street, what is the project they mentioned to
you the most?
Speaker 8 (13:23):
I was telling my friends. The one thing I know
is if I try to guess what they're going to say,
I'm always wrong. There's an awful lot of comrades ship
around agent Phil Colson, and he's certainly, you know, one
hundred and thirty five episodes of the TV show in
six or seven movies, so a lot of people have
some exposure to that. I get that line I didn't
see coming this quickly, which is I grew up watching you.
(13:47):
But there's certainly new advisions. Will Christine has its fans,
and I did a recurring FBI agent on the West
wearing Agent Casper, who seems to people seem to really remember.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Well, wherever they remember you from, I'm sure they love you. You
do a darn good job. Again, our guest today, Clark Greg,
thank you so much for taking the time to visit.
Speaker 8 (14:06):
Thank you again.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
He's got a brand new project that's out right now.
The first half of the Artist on the Network. It
just came out on Thanksgiving Day in the US, and
the second half of the artist on the Network is
going to be out on Christmas Day. It's on a
new thing, a new streaming platform called the Network. All
of the details in the show notes for today at

nineteen ninety two, you were just a kid. You can't

man news. I knew that you'd know that. Again. This
list was sent in by the Heidi Small fan Club president.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
Small talk about another extinct.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Oh yeah, animals, those are good.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
This one is not animal. It's called a. It's a
it's an insect, the gracilladris. Of course, it's an ants, okay,
And this particular type of ant has, as far as
they know, they thought, it's been extinct for quite some time.
The only trace of its existence was a single specimen
preserved in amber and tested to date back to fifteen
(16:14):
million years, so that's quite a time. Likely the ants
evated human detection for so long by their very nature
because they bury buried, deep, deep, deep, deep deep in
the ground, so the only way to come across and
would be through some kind of construction or something like that.
And they're nocturnal, so they don't even come out of
their holes until nighttime. So that's probably why they never
(16:37):
found them until two thousand and six when they were
identified in the Amazon Basin foothills in Colombia. Thanks to
logging operations.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Bloggers were hanging out at night.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Well, they were logging, so they were digging, so they
were doing construction, so they came across it. So that
is news to me.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
That is also news to me.

Fun fact for you, Heidi, when we touched something, the
message moves to the brain at one hundred and twenty
four miles per hour. So that's how fast that goes
from here to here. Nice fun fact for a heading.
Most soccer players run about seven miles during a game.
That's why you don't play soccer.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
That's why.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
That's the only reason, that and every other reason. All right,
fun fact for a hand, before plastic tortoise shell glasses
were made from actual turtle shells or tortoise shells. Yeah,
those tortoises look naked.
Speaker 6 (18:01):
We did not know that.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Yeah, fun fact for you, Heidi John A twenty nineteen
study found that housecats recognize their name but often don't
bother to respond.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
That doesn't surprise me one bit.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Well, here, kitty, kitty, Hey kitty, Here kitty, kitty, kats
I'm not I'm not looking at your way. We have
a dog that does that. She's a little hourly. She
really is, once in a while, but a lot of
the time lately she's just like, leave me alone and
we'll do one. More fun fact for you that, genetically speaking,
all of the children of identical twins are half siblings.
They're not cousins. Well, how wild is that I didn't
(18:36):
know that several fun facts. Now you know. Thanks for

for some weird news. When the Tokyo Pokemon Theme Park
opens in February, they're going to require a fitness test
to enter the forest theme section. You'll Murray land I
probably said wrong. Is opening It's Pokemon theme park Pokey
Park conto in February. Probably said all of that wrong.
But according to their official website, the Pokemon Forest Nature
Trail is going to be off limits to children under
(19:18):
the age of five and to everyone else. They have
to be ready for a long hike before entering. You'll
need to prove that you can handle climbing one hundred
and ten stairs. While some online commenters celebrated what apparently
is cruelly being referred to as no fatties policy, I
don't like that, others lamented that many disabled people and
(19:40):
seniors would be excluded from the park for that reason
as well. Well, here's the thing. If you're going to
have to walk how many miles did they say? Whatever
it is, it's a really long hike. You're be going
up and down and up and down. That's like saying, well,
it's not fair that Mount Everest isn't more you know
handicap accessible. Well, it's Mount Everest. You know they built
this park to be a park that's like a nature trail.
(20:01):
I don't know how they could do that and make
it level. I just again, I understand that you want
to go do that, but maybe maybe there's like a
virtual reality way. I would even do that. Put on
the goggles and watch somebody else walk. Good job, weird
news on the John and Heidi Show.

Time Now for the question of the day, Heidi, This
one's for you. The most popular tattoo for women over
the age of fifty is this I think your mother's
the roads. Yes? Does your mother have a rose? She
does have it, that's going to say. I'm pretty sure
you're mothers. Is it on her ankle?
Speaker 1 (21:02):
No?
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Where does she have it?
Speaker 3 (21:04):
It's on her breast?
Speaker 2 (21:05):
How did I know that?
Speaker 3 (21:06):
How did I get a long stem rose?
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Did I see this rose? Or did you just tell
me that there were you'll.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
See it like when she wears a bathing suit or whatever.
And we've gone on vacations together, so.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Clearly I haven't looked because I didn't know where. Why
did I think it was on her ankle?
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Is that where it hangs out?
Speaker 2 (21:27):
All right? Sorry, Sandy. That is your question of the

Time now for something special with Heidi Small. What you
got for me there, Heidi?
Speaker 3 (21:52):
I have some more crazy kinds of cheese.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Oh yeah, this is This has been my least favorite
thing you've ever done. Ever.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
The first one was called chirpy. I think h h
u rpi kirpy. Maybe there's a hard version of this cheese.
There's a soft version as well, but the hard version
can be eaten and swallowed. But it's so hard after
it's dried in a wood fire that it must be
sucked on and then chewed indefinitely. It's thick rubbery, difficult
(22:21):
to break down as bubblegum. This is cheese.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Who wants this exactly?
Speaker 3 (22:25):
It's made from yack milk dried in the sun or
in a low oven, and then is found only in
the Himalayan region of Nepal and Tibet, properly stored in
yak skin. Hard Chirpy can be consumed for up to
twenty years.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
The other one is called moose cheese. Daries don't bother
with moose cheese because moose produce only produce milk for
five months out of the year. They must be milked
in complete silence, Otherwise they get distressed and they stop
producing milk permanently.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Oh wow.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
So with that in mind, there's only three moose in

farm in Sweden. They produce Yeah, they produce the milk
for the for the moose cheese, resulting in an annual
yield of over six hundred pounds.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
All of it is destined for elgin Huss, a restaurant
operated by the farmers who raise the moose, so they
they they keep all of it for themselves. It is
not sold elsewhere.

this is good news. Take a listen to this story.
A man walks a six year old girl to school
after finding her alone in freezing weather. This simple act
of compassion from Detroit is warming hearts all around the world. Heidi,
it was freezing one morning and a father by the
(26:21):
name of Joshua threat T h R E A T T.
Is that how you say that? Threat? I would assume
He noticed something that didn't seem quite right. A six
year old girl walking alone, did not have a hat,
did not have gloves, temperatures bitterly cold. He knew I
can't just keep walking. He's thirty six. He decided, Hey,
I'm going to walk along with you to make sure
you get the ten blocks to this elementary school. He
(26:43):
made sure that she got there safely. He recorded the
moment on Facebook Live, where the video quickly spread and
resonated with tens of thousands of yours. In the video,
he can be heard reacting with concerns as he realizes
how young this child is and how cold she must
have been. He later explained the situation hit him especially
close to home because his youngest child is that same age.
(27:03):
He said, if I was cold, and I was definitely cold,
I know that she was cold. So anyway, when they
got to the school, he explained the situation to the
staff at the front door, becoming emotional as he described
how far the child was walking on her own. He
expressed relief that he was able to make sure that
she was safe. After the video and viral, he spoke
directly with the girl's father, saying the two had respectful,
(27:24):
honest conversation. Other parents quickly praised his actions. This serves
as a reminder of parents everywhere make sure your kids
are first and foremost safe above everything else and anymore
that could have turned out really poorly.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Well anymore, just even letting your kids walk that far
by themselves. It's a dangerous world now.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
So anyway, and if you know this young girl didn't
have hats, a hat or mittens or any of that.
That's one of those things that if you have extra
things there are people are looking for that all the time.
So do what you can to make sure they get
to the right place. That's horrible time. Say good bye, Heidi,
heid good by everybody, have a great day. Thank you
for listening to The John and Heidi Show.
