that makes sense there go. Yeah. See, we don't know everything,
but now we know this now Big Screen, Little Screen,

Now your scoop of the day comes your way. Courtesy
of Jascasemedical dot com. A study found that people who
post inspirational quotes on Facebook. First of all, before I
say you, what the rest of is? Do you do that?

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Ever?

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Heidi?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
I really don't. Okay, do you know people who do that?

Speaker 5 (05:40):
I know people who do that too.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
I feel like they're always overcompensating for something.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Study found that people who post inspirational quotes on Facebook
are less intelligent. Uh, what are you trying to say
about us? Come? I kind of do that once in
a while and moving along. Researchers at Norwegian University of
Science and Technology say they have found the recipe for success.

(06:04):
Really quest to determine which personality traits are needed to
become good at something. Having a positive attitude came in
at the top. Posting quotes on Facebook was none. It's
a long story, but those with a positive attitude have
what the researchers are calling a growth mindset, meaning that

(06:24):
they believe intelligence and skills can be developed through hard work, dedication,
and effort, and they see obstacles as opportunities to grow
and improve. On the other hand, a fixed mindset means
that you believe intelligence, talents, and personality can't really change
regardless of the effort. These people tend to avoid challenges,

(06:46):
they tend to give up when something is hard, and
they take constructive criticism as a personal attack. People who
believe they will succeed are far more passionate and have
greater will power than those who do not have a
positive attitude. What do you think of all that?

Speaker 4 (07:02):
I'm sure that's very accurate.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Where do you think I land on that spectrum? By
the way, you're very positive. Where do you land on
that spectrum? Just wondering here? If you're gonna realist, I'm
a I'm an optimist. She's a pessimist.

Speaker 6 (07:18):
I'm a realist.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
She's like, this is never gonna work. No, and she's right.

Thank you for listening to the John and He show.
Excited to visit with a very funny comedian and filmmaker
Mike Young. He's also the director of a new action
comedy called Stealing Jokes. And I had a chance to
watch a good chunk of this. I haven't had a
chance to finish it, but I absolutely will. This is funny.
I'm a big fan of comedy and I think this
this film is a very funny film.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
So good job man, Thank you man, thanks for watching
three quarters of it or whatever you've got.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
I started watching it while I was heavily dosed with
cold medicine and I fell asleep.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I'm a Nike wil Bro I could barely watch a
movie on my couch anyway. That's why I hope comes back.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Oh yeah, that's the tough thing about you know, all
this stuff at home.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Luckily, my movie's only an hour and a half, so
you're not sitting through three hours of The Irishman, which
I love. By the way, it's an hour and a
half film. It moves fast, it's fun, it's funny, so
this one should keep you awake. But yeah, Nichael is
a tough one to fight.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
That is a tough opponent right there. So let's talk
about the film again. It's called Stealing Jokes. And for
folks that are fans of stand up comedy, they're going
to recognize a lot of people in this movie, aren't they.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
They are Man actually found comedians that could act. So
Jeff die plays Jake Dustinybara Haha Davis and Michael Rappaport
and Luke Knall who was on SNL for a year.
Luke Mill plays Donnie Hefner. So I found a great
bunch of comedians that can actually pull off acting. So
I was super lucky in my casting. Then you're going

(09:19):
to recognize a lot of these people from the stand
up world, and if you dig a little deeper, you'll
see some of them actually have done a lot of acting.
Dustine Barrow's acted a ton, Jeff Diyes acted, Michael Rappaport
obviously comes from the acting world. It was a lot
of fun casting this movie. I'll say that, and.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
I'll tell you there was some really good rapport between
like Jeff and Haha. I think those guys did an
amazing job. And I don't know if there are friends
in real life, but they sure seem like they are friends.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Well I'll take that as a compliment because they never
knew each other before the film, so haha. From Detroit,
he was a big infant. He's a big social media influencer.
I watched all his clips and sketches, and when I
was getting ready to shoot in Detroit, his people reached
out to me. They're like, hey, man, can we audition
kN haaha be in this And after getting to know
him for a little bit, I just said, you know, dude,

(10:04):
I'm giving you this role. So he just came into
the fold with all these other comedians from LA and
fell right in and so yeah, the chemistry was palpable
and the cast all got along. They got along so
well that they started going out partying and drinking in
Detroit and coming to set the next morning with cucumbers
on their eyes, so they didn't look exhausted. So I

(10:26):
shut that down a little too well. I had to
set that down a couple of days in otherwise I
was going to lose the movie.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
So while you were filming this again, this is a
different kind of film because it's you know, it's a
stand up comedy driven film and it's very much about comedians.
And did you film this like on location in Detroit?
Is that where this was filmed.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yeah, we shot in comedy clubs in Detroit and around
Detroit for three weeks, and I shot one week in
Los Angeles, So I shot like the testimonials of like
Sebastian Maniscalco and Tony Rock and Paul Bursey, Andy Letterman.
I shot them in Los Angeles because part of the
fun of the movie is I break the fourth wall
throughout the movie and you'll get real comics telling road

(11:05):
stories about times they got screwed over on their money.
So that was sort of the fun, you know, a
little fun piece of the film that we love doing.
But yeah, we shot on location in Detroit and different
clubs around the town.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Were there any of the cast members that kind of
surprised you, and you know, you know him as comics
and all of a sudden you're the one making them
an actor or an actress? Were there any of that
kind of shocked you? As man, these guys are good
at this.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Haha, Davis, this kid had never been in a movie. Really,
maybe he did, like one line somewhere before. He actually
shocked me in how funny he was and how well
he could act and play and play these parts. He
was really dialed in, So he out of all of them,
I would say, really shocked me.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Yeah, having no experience, he was fantastic. And like I said,
between him and Jeff, like every time those guys had
a scene together, I just kept thinking, I wonder if
these days are like best friends, because it really felt
like they were, you know, they felt felt like they
really were the characters.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Yeah, well good, I'm glad and that listen, they played
best friends in the movie. You know, they play a
group of great friends who are comics who are traveling
together and so, you know, comedians, we got our own fraternity.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Yeah you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
We only hang out. We only hang out with our
friends who we think are actually funny, and so there's
there's a bond, there's an unspoken bond with comedians, you know,
and there's a respect. It's a fraternity for sure.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
The film is available right now. Where is the best
place for people to go if they want to watch
Stealing Jokes?

Speaker 1 (12:30):
All streaming platforms, Amazon, Apple, TV, DirecTV, Dizzio, all streaming
platforms you'll find it. Just look up Stealing Jokes the

Fun fact for your hiding to, John, nobody knows who
named Earth Earth Like, we have no record anywhere of
where that name actually came from. It's kind of cool
when you think about it, so I'm gonna just claim it.
I did that. Oh wait, I couldn't have. Okay, fun
factor you hiding to. Worldwide, about twenty percent of married
couples twenty percent are first cousins. What yeah, twenty percent worldwide?

(13:55):
Oh love, married couples are first cousins. I don't know why.
Uh apparently just getting to know you know, saw you
at the family union. And fun fact for you, heiding,
what's that? Stats show that people with high, medium, and
low income groups spend about the same amount at Christmas time,
so it doesn't matter how much you make. Everybody to
spinning a lot. And fun fact for you, Heidi, Whispering

(14:20):
is more wearing on your voice than speaking normally. So
if you're ever struggling and oh you whisper, that's actually
harder on your voice than just talking, and our final
fun fact for you, Heidi. What's that the hair of
an adult man or woman can stretch twenty five percent
of its length without breaking. Oh, that's it seems very
odd to me. That is very bizarre. Several fun facts

Now some weird news brought to you by Weird Gift
of the Day dot com. A London, Ontario college student
has constructed what is believed to be the world's smallest
arcade machine. Come yeah. An electro mechanical engineer student at
a college in Canada unveiled her creation last week. The
mini machine, measuring two point five inches tall and one

(16:48):
inch wide and one point three inches long, runs a
game called Pong. Remember that game I loved while in
high school. This young lady was part of a team
that broke Againness World rerecord for the longest selfie stick.
Last week's official measuring of the Pong game will be
reviewed by Guinness to determine if she gets a second
title to add to her name. So here, she's gonna

(17:12):
have potentially two Guinness World records and I still don't
have one. That's all right, I think you'll survive. I

thing to make a note of that. Yeah, several interesting

Time Now for the Quote of the day, It comes

is from Elvis Presley. You know who that is, Ray
I do.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I've heard of him.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
You've heard of it once or twice, once or twice.
Elvis Presley said, if you let your head get too big,
it'll break your neck. That's true.

Speaker 6 (19:13):
It has to be so careful.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Yes, that's a very very good quote. And yeah, you
don't want to break your neck. That would be bad.
It'd be really bad. So stay humble, Stay humble, and
be careful out there. Quote of the Day comes your

the John and Heidi Show is brought to you by
the John and Heidi Show. That sounds kind of funny,
but it's true. Go to your local radio station and

(19:34):
ask them to start carrying the John and Heidi show.
Here's the best part. They can carry the show for free.
They play a couple commercials, but it doesn't cost them
anything every month. So if you know a radio station
that could use a little bit of help, send them
our way. Send them to Johnandeidishow dot com. Again, John
Anddeidishow dot com, we would love to do a radio

(19:55):
program in your community. Then you could listen to the
podcast and listen to us on the radio. We always
like to wrap things up around here with good news,
and I think this is good news. It comes your
way courtesy of Genesis gold Ira dot com and this
story comes from Bakersfield, California. A stranger's active kindness saves

(20:18):
a single mother's Christmas. I love this story. Morgan Larson,
a single mother with an autistic son. The holidays were
seeming bleak this year. While traveling out of town, Larson
lost her bank card oh No, a discovery that left
her worried that she would be able to even buy
Christmas gifts that she had planned to buy for her child.
But when all hope seemed lost, a miracle arrived at

(20:40):
her Doorstepped an unexpected guest showed up. A stranger who
showed up with her lost card. Oh thank goodness. The
simple yet profound gesture brought Larson immense relief. She described
the moment as turning a turning point in her holiday
season and her outlook on people as well. She said
it fell good, she told the local news. There, I

(21:02):
feel like there are actually good people who genuinely do
nice things. Of course there are. There are now so many. Absolutely.
Now she's turning to an app called next Door in
search of the good Samaritan, Eager to express her gratitude directly.
She wanted him to know that his kind has transformed
her holiday and brought joy back to her family during
a challenging time.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Love.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
The heartwarming stories remind her how small acts of kindness
can make a big difference. And the thing is cool.
They like, she's trying to connect with this person because
they never met. He rang the doorbell and they talked
through her doorbell, and that's how she got her thing back.
Technology is so amazing to me. We have ours is
not the brand name. Ours is like a knockoff and

(21:44):
it usually doesn't work.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
So it does work as long as you charge it.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
I always charge it. And it's connected to your phone
and you never have your phone. So meanwhile our home
is being robbed and we were like, what is going
on here? Heidi looks at it a week later, Oh,
look at that, and we were robbed last week. All
right times SA. Good Bye Heide, good Bye Heide, goodbye everybody.
Have a great day. Thank you for listening to The
John and Heidie Show this weekend.
