K one O three point nine FMand Mack in the Morning. Betty Predmore
and Laurie Ringstaff are here. Hi, ladies, how are y'all? Good
morning? How good you're here?Because Bertram Country Christmas is coming again?
Huh it is? It's a fourthannual and it's this weekend. Are you
ready? Sure? We're ready? Are you ever really ready for a festival?
I know I looked in Laurie's eyes, but she said, sure,
(00:22):
we're ready. We're ready. Lookingaround? What is it that song that
ies don't Live? Ready? Saturdaymorning? You know? I know it's
going to be great and it's it'suh. I think the weather's supposed to
be good and everything. So it'stell me about you say, it's the
fourth annual. How's it going? How did it go last year? What
(00:42):
do you expect this year? Tellme about that it went great and I
think we expect even more people thisyear, and we're getting the word out
more. There's lots of activities forall the kids to do. Sanna's there,
okay, so I think we're expectinga big turnout. I noticed you
have like a day long it's aday full of activities from nine to thirty
in the morning all the way fouro'clock in the afternoon, so with live
(01:04):
music and everything. So what aresome of the things may What are some
of the things that y'all are doingthis year that you're looking forward to?
Well, last year and we're continuinginto this year. But last year we
added a parade in the morning, which is fun, okay, So the
hope is that every year that willget a little bigger. And that's allays
really fun in our town because weinvite all the kids to come and at
(01:26):
the end of the parade, Santakind of rides through on his sleigh,
so the kids can all come decoratetheir bikes, their skateboards, their skaters
and kind of ushure Santa in andbe in the parade and be part of
it. So that's fun. AndI think that's you know, a little
bigger this year and hopefully well nextyear. I know that our kids area
that we started last year, thehope is to grow that every year.
(01:52):
More activities for the kids to dowhile they're there, and we have more
opportunities I guess you would call itfor photos, little photo op things around
around the area. Yeah, that'salways fun for families. Actually, I
was doing the the Bertram North PoleFlyer yesterday with my grandson, and just
(02:14):
the little opportunities that were out therewhile we were waiting was super fun.
You know. We did the picturesand everything, so that always is like
part of the memory you take home. So we we have commissioned more of
those, okay, and so thatpart is growing. I know, we
have a lot of vendors coming inand that's always fun, just doing that
last minute shopping. Yeah, thatprobably grows every year too, doesn't it.
(02:36):
Because they see, you know, their friends see that they did okay,
you know, and it's time tocome home. They come for the
first time and think, oh wow, I did all right for Saturday afternoon,
you know. So they come backand that's nice because you know,
it just provides an opportunity for somekind of unique things that you might not
think of Christmas gifts. And Imean, if you're like me for yourself.
(03:00):
So yeah, yeah, yeah,it's great, and the music is
always great. It's cheerful. Thechamber directors that are out there, you
know, organizing it, are cheerful, smiling faces for everyone. It's nice.
It's just a really sweet day.Talk about some of the sponsors that
are helping y'all make this possible thisyear. Yeah, we have a good
(03:23):
list here. We have the BertramDevelopment Corporation, the City of Bertram,
Silverado's Signature Homes, Burnett County Tourism, on Side Disposal, Our Bank,
Bertram Healing Center, Mosaic Garden,Treasure Katie Duke Realtor, Vulcan Materials,
(03:45):
Ascension Seaton, Bertram Healthcare Center,s S SC Services for Education, Open
Our Services, Double Eagle Entertainment,Mom Sense Empowered Women's Business. I told
you just like Chicken Balk and theAscent, and I hope I didn't forget
one, but yeah, but that'sunderstandable if you did. That's a big
(04:05):
old list, and that big lastyear was Yeah, we're growing, We
are growing. That's really really that'sone of the fun parts of being in
on the organizing of something is youactually get to see the growth. Yeah,
and it's so fun to see that, you know, and to be
a part of that is really coolglory. What partner do you look forward
to most? So the kids' activities. We really tried to bring that more
(04:26):
to that last year. We goteven more this year. They can do
lots of things. They get topaint an ornament and make reindeer feed and
color pictures and rat letters to saying, it's just a lot of fun.
Last year the kids loved it.There was a lot of good feedback.
So there's just a lot of thingsfor them to do there. And that's
really what it's all about, isthe kids, right. Yeah. Oh,
speaking of kids, we also havesome Christmas trees that are out in
(04:49):
the kids zone, and this yearthey're wooden trees that were built because that
way they don't fly away. Itsounds like experience. Yeah, So our
Bertram Elementary kids are working on makingornaments for these trees, and so every
grade has a tree with those studentsornaments. So you know, it's kind
(05:13):
of fun to go and show momand dad the ornament you made and have
them on display for everyone to see. So that's kind of a cool thing
and it's a great way to incorporatelike more community into what we're doing.
So my wife and I went tosee a friend who runs the event down
in Bernie and it's grown from likea few people to like huge two day
thing and the kids is what wetalked about. In fact, it rained
(05:35):
on us while we were there,so everybody kind of got off the street
and then after the inquits it getsback on. And my friend mentioned,
look at all the kids that arehere. It's just like it's amazing.
I mean, it's a great opportunityto get the kids out, get them
tired out for the day, takethem home in the evening and they'll they're
well, and especially since at ninepoint thirty in the morning they get to
(05:56):
do the Roodolph Dash. Okay,so there goes a little expansion of energy,
right, So yeah, we havethat for them, and then of
course the opportunity for them to bein the parade and to display their ornaments
okay, and have a whole keySanta Yeah, okay, Santa. Yeah,
it's a family can come and havea good time and that's all free
and all the kids' activities are free. Take your own picture with Santam.
(06:18):
Yeah. Well that's neat okay. That's the Bertram Country Christmas and coming up
this Saturday from nine thirty am untilfour pm and you've got things starting with
the kids Dash at nine thirty Anddid they have to register ahead for that
or just show up? They canjust show up. And then right after
that ninety five is the prey okay, and then ten o'clock the rest of
(06:40):
the festivities start. Okay. Yeah. Is there a place online we can
go for information? Yeah, onour website okay, which is Birchum Bertram
Chamber dot com. Okay, yeah, good, there's information on there,
and social media on our Facebook pageon the Birchram Chamber Facebook page where we
