Speaker 1 (00:00):
Another week of free live music continues Old Oak Square
in downtown Marble Falls. Music Gone Maine, another jam pack
lineup of some great local music and Debbie Walton. She's
going to be out there this Friday evening at five
o'clock and at Debbie, she's a veteran of the local
music scene. And Debbie, how you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
I'm doing great? Man? How you doing?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
I'm doing wonderful? So you were you're from right here
in Marble Falls, right, Debbie?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I sure am. I've been here, you know, most of
my life.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
And how has it's really changed? How's the music scene
changed over the years, And to.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Me, it hasn't changed a whole lot. There's still not
a lot of live music venues in the area. There's
a few more, there's more stuff going on down around
main Street, you know, but as far and there's a
few festivals and stuff. But when we first started out,
there were a couple of little clubs locally that had
brought the music from Austin and San Antonio and even
as far as like Love It. It was fun back

(00:52):
then too.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
How long you been for? How long you been performing? Debbie?

Speaker 2 (00:56):
About thirty years?

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Wow? So thirty years and have you performed at Music
on Maine before.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yes, I did this past spring, okay, And of course
before it was you know, the Old Dog, when it
was other businesses throughout christ I've been a few other plays.
You know. They used to be have a stage right
underneath the oak tree where they would have bands out
there occasionally. I love the way they've got it set
up now with the live music. One on Maine is great.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yeah, it's definitely a great location, and you've got that nice,
big oak tree, and you should have some great weather
this week as we finally got a cool front. So
I think when you're out there Friday evening, the weather
is going to be really, really nice.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
That's what I'm telling everybody too. It seems like it's
going to be beautiful in a full night for some
live music.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
That's right. It's definitely gonna feel like a nice fall
evening to watch Debbie Walton. So what can we expect
from your Friday evening? What kind of music do you play?

Speaker 2 (01:47):
You know, it's kind of hard to put it in
a genre. A lot of people have called it kind
of rootsya Texas soul music. I guess maybe because it
kind of leans into the sort of arm Texas R
and B kind of rootsy stuff like Delbert McClinton would
do you know our Bonnie Ray kind of that style
of music. I do that. And on Friday night, I'll

(02:09):
have some people that I've been playing with for many
throughout all the thirty years actually, and I'll have my
guitarist Scott Bolan who's been with me for the entire
thirty years playing guitar. Michael Cross who's one of my
co writers and an amazing singer himself. He'll be playing guitar,
I believe also, and then Bill Small he lived around
here for quite a while and it has performed in

(02:31):
lots of different bands, and all of these guys are
songwriters actually. And then on drums is my son in law,
Corby Shaub, who is a Grammy Award winning musician.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Oh well, that's cool. Do you get to play with
him quite a bit?

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Oh? I get to play with him anytime I want to.
He's my son in law.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
That's awesome. That's awesome. Well, gonna be some great live
music this Friday evening. Then that'd be anything else you like, Dad, Well,
we're going to do a.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Big show later on in November look for that. It's
going to be a big ten piece band. I think
we'll be recording it live. It's going to be involve
the Falls also.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
That's awesome. So that's going to be a November so
we can keep an eye out for that then.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yeah, just keep an eye out for it. It's going
to be fun, all right.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Sounds good, awesome, Well, sounds good, Debbie, Well, thank you
so much and good talking to you. That's Debbie Walton.
She's going to be out at Old Oak Square for
Music on Maine this Friday evening right here on KB
