Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're getting so close to Halloween and there's a fun
event coming up for you and your pet on Saturday,
October twenty sixth, that'd say the World Brewing Company. It
is a Halloween five K benefit for Spaye at Forward, y'all.
They have their run starting at nine o'clock and then
a costume contest at one o'clock. And we're chatting with
Sid holding she's with Spade fort y'all, Sid, how you doing?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Hi? How are you doing?
Speaker 1 (00:25):
How's everything going with?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
It going great? We're just getting ready for our first
ever five K nine run or five K nine run?
Get it? K nine seventh or eighth annual costume contest
for the puppies.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Wow, so is the five K run? Is that new?
Or have y'all done one of these before?
Speaker 2 (00:39):
We haven't done one here in Marvel Falls yet, so
this will be our first one out at Save the World,
but our seventh annual costume contest for the doggies.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
All right, before we get more to the event, first off,
just give us a rundown on what y'all do at
Spae of Ford, y'all, Sid.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
We are a dog rescue and we rescue lots of
abandoned dogs, lots of strade all dogs, lots of owners
are renderdogs, shelter dogs, you know we are. We get
them off, fixed, spade, nootered, micro chipped, all the works,
and put them up for adoption.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
How many dogs do you have right now?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Oh? About between twenty eight thirty something like that? Real? Really? Okay,
eight of them are mine, so we got about twenty two.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
That's still a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
He's not listening right now, because they can get We
don't want even to count them.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Okay, that's still a lot. And so how how long
does a dog typically stay at your shelter?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Holy moly? Well, we're foster based and home based right now,
so we can get one and someone will see it,
you know, on a Facebook post or post and go,
you know, it could be gone in a matter of days.
And then we have some that I guess one we
have has been there about oh a year now, so
we've had some. But they're they're good hands. Now.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
I know all the shelters here in the High Lakes
have been they've just been crowded with the dogs and
this has been really additional.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
I'm barded with dogs. It's just crazy, and it's so
important to spay new to your pet. I mean, you know,
because you can help with this pet population just by
fixing your dog.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
And this is what y'all do. Not only do you
shelter the dogs, but then you spaand new to them
as well.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
They and newer to them also, and you know, and
we'll help if you get in a buying and you
need the funds, we will help you sometimes to fix
your own personal dog.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
And then you mentioned chips as well. You do that tooker.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Chips because if they get lost week and find them,
you know, I mean, if your dog is lost, it's
so important to have a microchip because you can find
them really quick.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
And of course all this costs money. So that's why
this fundraiser is such a big deal. Yeah, it seems
like you've had a really good relationship with say the
World Brewing Company.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, so they've been really nice. I have to thank
Brittain Evan for hosting us and letting us do these
events there. It's like it's not their bit, but they
let us come there and do a lot of things.
So we do have this Halloween there and that's fun,
So bring your pops. We have like two sizes under
twenty five and over twenty five and nice gift baskets
and money, so you know, bring the dog. So we
(02:58):
have it's been really cute in the past year. We
have lots of dogs and lots of creative people out there.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Do you do what two or three events out there
a year, typically at least Eastern.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
And then Christmas we do an ugly dog sweating contest,
so that'll be coming up, and then we have the
Christmas I mean the Easter egg hunt, and then we
have you know, all sorts of stuff. We have various
adoptions out there, so they're gracious to let us use
their facility.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
So what's the dowloa on the five K. Well, it was.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
A registration online, but you can come sign up that
day and it's raceoster dot com, okay, and you can
find it there or go to save the World's Facebook
page or our Facebook page and you can register there online.
Or you can just go up Saturday. You don't have
to run, you can come, you can bring your dogs,
walk your dogs. They'll be food afterwards, and you can
(03:49):
then stay for the costume contest.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
How cute is the costume contest.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
There's some pretty creative people out there. So there's some
that it's like, oh my word, I wouldn't even win
a human content to get some of these dogs.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
What's the and the seven eight years you've had this,
what would you say the best costume is so far
that you've seen are the most creative?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Oh my word. We had one girl one time that
they did a UPS driver dog and he walked little
they walked with the ups guy. We had Bob something,
the cloud guy. Oh yeah, you know, they dressed up
their dogs like that. And we've had some as monsters
and lions and it's just fun to watch. It's really cute,
and they people get really creative. The Christmas one ugly sweater.
(04:32):
That's funny because I mean there are some ugly sweaters,
but then you come and you see this, you know,
then they make it cute. So it's kind of hard
to not vote for the cute dog and the ugly sweater.
And it's not an ugly sweater, you know, so you.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Want I'm sure the ugly sweater looks better on dogs
than it does on humans.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Oh yeah, it does because the dog looks so cute.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Dog didn't know it's you know, he's like, thanks mom,
would you do to me? But yeah, the dogs like
he doesn't know, but yeah, the dogs are still.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Cute, all right? So entry fee? How much does it
cost for all this?
Speaker 2 (05:00):
The ink fee is about thirty dollars right now. You
get a shirt, you get all sorts of stuff for that.
We're gonna have food afterwards. It's online. The price changes
the closer it gets, so I can really tell you
right off what it is right now. But you can
go to our Facebook page and I'll make an update
on there later.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
And give the give the race Roster website.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
One more time raceroster dot com.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Okay, race rooster dot com.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
And then at Say the World you can find on
their Facebook page and there's a registration, and there's a
registration on our page too, and then the Halloween contest
is free. Just bring your dog out. We got lots
of great gift baskets and like I said, some money,
and it is just fun to just watch the dogs, all.

just fun to just come hug on a dog. We're

which is a new rescue that opened up in lamp
Passes and we're working together, trying to all work with
some of the dogs, so they'll be out there with
