Very exciting to see both of you for the first
Kerrn County Fair Live shot here, bright and early.

It's a quiet atmosphere at the current County Fairground since.

There are more cows than people here at the current
County fair Ground.

Speaker 8 (00:51):
Awesome.

Speaker 6 (00:51):
Anthony is very excited because.

Speaker 5 (00:53):
He's got a lot of cows behind us because we're
actually at the FFA barn and these are beef cattle
right behind us, and soon is going to get a chance.

Speaker 6 (01:01):
I've got it all worked out.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
He's going to be able to pet his first cow
finally on Sunrise this morning.

Speaker 6 (01:07):
So very very it's.

Speaker 7 (01:08):
Amazing they're all lined up right behind us. One of
them just passed cast.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
He keeps saying it was the cow because he won't know.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
No, you never know what when they get at the
current county fair.

Speaker 6 (01:21):
Just take note here really quick.

Speaker 5 (01:23):
And when we started out this newscast, you may be
seeing something in my lap. This is a unicycle and
this was dropped off for me yesterday by Ronnie Allen
and Cynthia Uh. They found this out of the art
cell I guess, and they wanted me to compete with
Mark later on.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
This morning.

Speaker 6 (01:44):
Already right here.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
So I've never been on one of these, and I'm
really not sure if I'm going to get on it.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
I'm gonna need much support to.

Speaker 5 (01:52):
Even try this, so you'll have to tune in a
little bit later. It could be a big liability for
the station. By hey, we might give it a shot.
And he's markover there stretching because he knows he has
competition in the house. So a lot more to come
and more weather for you as well.

Speaker 8 (02:05):

Speaker 8 (04:13):
Good morning, Chelsea Roberts, Thank you so much for joining us.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Good rain, Thanks for waking up with us, I know,
bright and early, Yes, yes it is.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
How's a fair been going so far? We're on day
three now good.

Speaker 9 (04:23):
Yeah, you know, we had some rain yesterday which is
a little strange, but other than that, it's been a
really good day so far.

Speaker 8 (04:30):
And what are you looking forward to the most this weekend?

Speaker 9 (04:33):
This weekend specifically, Well, we have monster trucks this weekend,
so that's always a fun thing to kick off and
Sugar Ray Tomorrow's gonna be really good.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
And today is a Senior Day at the fair, So
can you tell us a little bit more about the
events we.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Have in store?

Speaker 9 (04:45):
Yeah, so at nine am, our gates open for Senior
Day from Dignity Health, and there's so many different things
that they have lined up. They have doc talks on
our stages to kind of educate the seniors in the community,
but they can have what kinda is offered for them
in our community. And with that, we also have tonight

(05:07):
Corey Kent at the Budweiser Pavilion and we have monster
Trucks in the grandstand. There's so much going on tonight.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
I mean, truly, it sounds like a doozy there's so
much to do, there's so many different options. We want
to talk about Feed the Need Day coming up on Tuesday.
Can you tell us a little bit more about that.

Speaker 9 (05:22):
Yeah, So on Tuesday we have Feed the Need. That
is our way of kind of being back to the community.
We partner with cap K for bringing in six canned
food items for a donation for free admission into the
fair and what better way to give back to the
community and enjoy the fair as well.

Speaker 7 (05:41):
I want to talk more about Friends and Followers to Day.
That's always a fun thing I've heard. This is my
third fair. Why is that so important to give that
type of community some.

Speaker 8 (05:50):
Extra time alone in a safe environment.

Speaker 9 (05:54):
You know, on Friends and Followers' Day, we have a
fun promotion for you know, all those people kind of
staying and connecting with us online. We have school Days
coming up the following week Tuesday, Wednesday, and then Special
Friends Day as well on that following Thursday. It's super
important for us to kind of give a tone down

(06:14):
experience for those with special needs. And we have a
great partnership with all of our performers and our carnival
to kind of be able to put on a smaller
event for them as well.

Speaker 7 (06:25):
All right, Current County Fair marketing specialist Chelsea Roberts showing
us once again.

Speaker 8 (06:29):
Chelsea, thank you so much for your time, Thanks for
having me.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Thank you so much for joining us. The fair has
been awesome so far. You've been doing an amazing job.

Speaker 10 (06:35):
Thanks.

Speaker 7 (06:36):
All right, we have to talk a little bit more
now about fair security. If you've been to the fair,
you've probably seen a lot of heavy police presence, especially
from the Bakersfield Police Department.

Speaker 10 (06:46):
Right.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Yes, A big topic at the Current County Fair every
year is security. If Bakersfield Police Department is beefed up,
it's detail this year adding new metal detectors at the
entrance and bike patrols. The new detectors use AI technology
to screen items inside pockets, meaning you don't even need
to empty those pockets when you pass through. Also coming
back this year the police watchtower at the Budweiser Pavilion
so officers.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Have a bird's eye view of the fairgrounds.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Sometimes the packed fairgrounds can cause your child to get lost.
Lost loved ones are asked to go to the BPD
Communications center at Harvest Hall.

Speaker 11 (07:18):
All of the circle stickers on the main street and
it'll guide you right to it. We also are doing
the bracelets again where we have the the family name
and phone number on there so that we find a
young one that can't really talk or doesn't know their
phone number, it'll have it written on their wrists.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Extra officers will be patrolling the fairgrounds as well, so
up to one hundred of.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Them some nights.

Speaker 12 (07:40):
Welcome back. I'm Jacob Clark.

Speaker 13 (07:42):
We begin this morning with breaking news related to the
last night storm that has led to flooding and some
road closures in eastern Current County. Check out this video
from CHP's Mojave office. Highway fourteen was closed in both
directions last night due to flash flooding and jab owned canyon.
The CHP now reporting the four teen reopened around two
this morning. Highway three ninety five is closed in both

(08:04):
directions near Randsburg, and the one seventy eight is closed
in the east eastbound direction at San Bernardino County Line
near Ridgecrest. CHP reminds you to drive carefully in wet
conditions and to never try to cross a flooded road.
Now to our water waters file and a huge collective
sigh of relief this morning for farmers and water managers

(08:26):
in Kern County, sjvwater dot org reporting the state Water
Resources Control Board has approved a revised groundwater management plan
for the current sub basin, avoiding the prospect of severe
sanctions and state intervention and how we protect our precious
groundwater resources. Earlier this year, the Water Board recommended the
Kern sub Basin be put on probation as its groundwater

(08:47):
plan wasn't protective enough of drinking water, among other deficiencies.
Probation comes with severe sanctions, including requiring farmers to meter
and register their water wells at a cost of three
hundred dollars per well. The water boarder graded in February
to get managers more time to work on the plan,
which now includes key improvements including programs respond to failing
domestic wells and small drinking water systems impacted by receiving

(09:11):
groundwater levels. And seventeen News is your local Election headquarters,
which just weeks until California's special election on redistricting. A
new exclusive pull from inside California Politics and Emerson College
shows a majority of Californian's support Prop fifty. If passed,

(09:32):
The ballot measure will approve new statewide congressional maps drawn
in favor of Democrats.

Speaker 12 (09:37):
Backers of Prop fifty.

Speaker 13 (09:38):
Say it's necessary to fight back against red states advancing
President Donald Trump's redistricting efforts. Meantime, opponents are concerned the
measure will pause California's voter approved independent redistricting commission through
the end of the decade. Of the roughly one thousand
California registered voters who took part in the survey, fifty
one percent said they would support Prop fifty if the

(09:58):
election were held today. Well thirty four percent said they
would not. Another fifteen percent, though, are undecided. The organizer
of the poll notes Prop fifty performs even better among
respondents who are very likely to turn.

Speaker 14 (10:10):
Out, folks who are most certain that they're going to
turn out. It's fifty five percent Yes versus thirty five
percent No, So a twenty point margin there. You know,
if I had to put money on it, I would
bet that it's closer to that twenty point margin than
it would be a ten percent margin. Here, this looks
like it is headed towards a yes vote.

Speaker 13 (10:33):
Election day is set for November fourth, and Inside California
Politics air Sunday mornings at eight thirty right here on
TV seventeen and our smart TV streaming platform kg T Plus.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
This is seventeen Moves Live from the Kerrent County Fair.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
All right, Like I said earlier, we're always pivoting. You
never know what's going to happen in the live broadcast world.
So we're getting some audio issues that figured out. But
I found another camera that I could use, and Anthony
joins me again because you were able to pet a cow.
This one's deciding it's time to use the restroom. It
never fails, Anthony. When I'm at the current County Fair,
it seems like no matter where I go into a

(11:22):
live shot, especially in the beef barn, the cows.

Speaker 12 (11:24):
Have to go.

Speaker 7 (11:25):
These cows aren't the cleanliest of animals, but I will
say they are amazing undred pounds of greatness right here.

Speaker 6 (11:32):
So the mic cut out over air.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
But what was like to pet your cow for the
first time?

Speaker 8 (11:35):
It was amazing.

Speaker 7 (11:36):
I was really looking forward to this, and now basically
my day is complete. I'm gonna go home and then
you do the show with Laura and the rest of
the way.

Speaker 8 (11:43):
Now, I think that's good. It was awesome, though it
was great.

Speaker 13 (11:46):
President Trump is back at the White House this morning
after a two day of blitz and glitz and glamour,
as he talked with royals about trade and foreign wars
with British leaders. Today, he's expected to have a key
call with Chinese President she on trade and TikTok, and
he returns to more controversy, this time over the suspension
of a late night TV host. NBC's Alice Barr reports

Speaker 15 (12:10):
President Trump is back in Washington, leaving behind his royal
reception in the UK and diving into domestic debate on
Air Force one, suggesting broadcast networks he says are against
him could lose their licenses.

Speaker 10 (12:24):
They give you a holy bed listening oppress. I mean
they're getting a license.

Speaker 16 (12:30):
I would think maybe their license should be taken away.

Speaker 10 (12:34):
It will be up to Brendan Karr.

Speaker 15 (12:36):
A reference there to the FCC chairman who criticized ABC
late night host Jimmy Kimmel and hinted at potential action
shortly before the network indefinitely pulled the show off air
over these comments.

Speaker 17 (12:49):
The Magga Gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who
murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them
and everything they can to score political points from it.

Speaker 15 (13:00):
Issue stirring free speech questions at a press conference alongside
UK Prime Minister kir Starmer himself facing criticism from some
on the right.

Speaker 18 (13:09):
We need free speech in UK because we've not had
it for a long.

Speaker 15 (13:13):
Time, while Trump protesters we spoke to accused him of
silencing critics.

Speaker 19 (13:19):
If he doesn't like, somebody gets rid of them.

Speaker 15 (13:21):
The President and Prime Minister also pressed on the intensifying
war in Gaza, with the UK preparing to officially recognize
a Palestinian state.

Speaker 18 (13:30):
I have a disagreement with the Prime Minister on that score.

Speaker 15 (13:34):
While Starmer nudged the President to ramp up pressure on
Russian President Putin to end the assault on Ukraine. President
Trump turning today to a call with China's President Shijinping,
looking to close a TikTok deal to keep the popular
app available to millions of American users. President Trump and

Prime Minister Starmer also talked trade and signed a major
tech pact leaning into business ties to try to strengthen
the relationship at a time of complex challenges. In London,

The dismount Kevin. Everybody, it's all in the hips. Well done, Kevin.

Speaker 5 (21:21):
On the health of Kevin stri I give this to you,
for me, for you.

Speaker 16 (21:27):
Oh yeah, together, Oh yeah, Okay, on the country we're
gonna go.

Speaker 10 (21:34):
Oh yeah, one two three, Oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Mark, thank you so much for coming on.

Speaker 6 (21:42):
Thanks Vin.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Guys, I'm I'm starstruck right now. You are amazing.

Speaker 10 (21:48):
You get it? Mark?

Speaker 6 (21:50):
Mark?

Speaker 8 (21:51):
Can I get one more?

Speaker 12 (21:52):
Oh yeah?

Speaker 8 (21:52):
Of the road please? Oh yeah, you go? Oh man,
the amazing Mark.

Speaker 7 (22:00):
While the chest full of hair, everybody, you can catch
him at the current County Fair.

Speaker 8 (22:05):
He'll be juggling all kinds of stuff.

Speaker 16 (22:07):
What can we see, machetes, machetes, torches, all of it.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Because I cannot catch my breath from laughing so hard.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
It's a good time.

Speaker 12 (22:17):
Everybody will be riding back and welcome back. I'm Jacob Clark.

Speaker 13 (22:27):
In news making headlines around the nation, the CDC's Advisory
Committee on Immunization Practices have voted to revise the use
of combined vaccine MMR V. MMRV vaccines against measles, mumps, rebella,
and vericella.

Speaker 12 (22:42):
Is considered a key vaccine give it a children.

Speaker 13 (22:45):
The committee has recommended allowing parents to choose the combination
of vaccines before the age of four. This change is
considered a step towards HCHA Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior's
push to change vaccination policies in the US. Previous recommendations
included inviting a first dose of MMR vaccines to children
twelve to fifteen months old, and then a second dose

(23:05):
from four to six years old. Now to an interesting
trend when it comes to how much we're driving. New
figures from the Federal Highway Administration show the average American
is driving five percent less compared to twenty years ago,
and even more eye opening. Young drivers are the main
reason why many just don't want a license. Adam Tuss
is talking with young drivers and experts about this trend

(23:26):
and has this report.

Speaker 6 (23:28):
Here at the DMV.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
This road sign means.

Speaker 21 (23:32):
Younger drivers like Lira telling us why they have to
get behind the wheel.

Speaker 19 (23:39):
I just got a job out in Virginia, so I
needed to get a car again. But I didn't have
a car for like seven years before this.

Speaker 21 (23:46):
And she agrees, not everyone wants or needs to drive.

Speaker 19 (23:50):
Honestly, I think it depends like if you're in a city,
if you're not in a city.

Speaker 21 (23:54):
Yeah, TRIPAA says the trend of younger drivers not getting
behind the wheel is very real.

Speaker 23 (24:00):
What we're seeing at Triple A in what I've even
seen anecdotally in my own household and with my daughter's friends.
We have a seventeen year old who she and most
of her friends have very little interest in driving.

Speaker 24 (24:12):
Look, it's not just anecdotal evidence. The numbers are also
backing this up. If you go back forty years ago
and take a look at the number of sixteen year
olds who had their driver's license, that number would have
come in around fifty percent. Go back to twenty twenty one,
and that number has dropped to twenty five percent. Those
numbers from the US Department of Transportation researchers at UCLA

(24:36):
wanted to take an even closer look at the reason
for the decline and found that a lot of tasks
that required a car before, like shopping, don't require a
car now. Social media also plays a role as younger
people can connect easily and concerns about other dangerous drivers
could be holding.

Speaker 21 (24:53):
Some other younger drivers back.

Speaker 9 (24:55):
Yes, I have seen in the highway like the ones
that just are like going super fast and moving from
lane to lane.

Speaker 23 (25:05):
Unfortunately, we've seen a lot of that at Triple A,
with the dangers on the roadways, with the risky driving behaviors,
with the road rage incidents rising, so that in many
ways has I believe curbed the interest and enthusiastic of
enthusiasm of some young people.

Speaker 21 (25:22):
Now, all of this doesn't just make a trend, it
will impact transportation policy down the line. Road design and
funding for road projects may have to be adjusted based
on the data.

Speaker 12 (25:36):
That was Adam Tuss reporting.

Speaker 13 (25:37):
We want to take you back to that breaking news
related to last night's storm. Flash flooding has led to
some road closers in eastern Kerrent County. Check out this
video from the CHP's Mojave office. Highway fourteen was closed
in both directions last night due to flash flooding and
job owned canyon. The CHP now reporting the fourteen reopened
around two this morning.

Speaker 12 (25:55):
Highway three ninety.

Speaker 13 (25:56):
Five is closed in both directions near Randsburg in the
one seventy eight is closed in the eastbound direction at
the San Bernardino County line near Ridgecrest. CHP reminds you
to drive carefully in wet conditions and never try to
cross a flooded road.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
This is seventeen moons live from the Kerrent County Fair.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
All right, welcome back everybody.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
We are still live here at the current County Fair,
having a great time, and it feels.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Nice and cool outside, which I'm very thankful for.

Speaker 8 (26:27):
We've had a unicycle on the show.

Speaker 7 (26:29):
We've had the Mark Wilder, I pet a cow, all
kinds of stuff, and we're barely what less than an
hour into the show.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
I mean, yes, please bear with us.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
This is both of our first times doing this, so
I'm just I know, I don't know about you.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
I'm in awe. I am having trouble speaking because.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
Everything I'm seeing is just so amazing full. Yes, and
I feel like Kevin's having a better experience than we are.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Kevin checking in with you over there with the Sea Lions.
Are you kidding?

Speaker 5 (27:01):
All right, We're at the Kurk County Fair and we're
talking about Sea Lions Splash. If you remember last year
I was here, it was my first time meeting Guda.
Gouda is back with me and I'm very excited. And
if you have kids at home, you want to make
sure you grab them because they get to meet Gooda
up close and personal here in just a second. But
I want to bring in Robert right now, and Robert
is with Sea Lions Splash. Robert talk a little bit

(27:22):
about how exciting it is to be.

Speaker 25 (27:23):
Back, very very very glad to be here again. And
this time we're here for the whole fair, not like
that last year that we have we were here just
for a weekend. And now you can enjoy the Sea
Lions flash show and for the whole fair, you can
take pictures with them. Come it's just our really entertainment show,
educational for all the time.

Speaker 5 (27:42):
Talk about the education part about these sea lions.

Speaker 25 (27:45):
Yeah, because most people when they come and see them,
they think they are seals. So we talk about the
difference about sea lions and seals what they can do
a little things about the behaviors that they have. We
talk a little bit about pollution and they're recycling. It's
a really funny comedy entertainment show about the sea allions.

Speaker 6 (28:05):
And are these sea lions rescued?

Speaker 25 (28:06):
Yeah, all the allions that we have they are rescue
because they were bestranded and they have a little condition
something that they need to be in human care.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
So it's perfect that people get to learn about them,
their character, characteristics, and the history of where they came from.

Speaker 25 (28:24):
Well, usually the government is the one that all the
rescue and they contacted all the facilities, the different companies
that can have and rescue animals like sea lions, splash
and well, we do the work of taking care of
them and making have a better life.

Speaker 5 (28:43):
Well, I know they're very happy. So here we're gonna
have a little bit of fun with Guda right now.
And first off, I have to ask Guda because I
was doing the unicycle earlier with Mark.

Speaker 6 (28:53):
Did I do a good job?

Speaker 5 (28:54):
Oh, she just stuck her tongue out of me, and
I'm guessing that is a no. Yeah, you know she's
saying yes that I did. Okay, I got the tongue
for okay, thank you, Guda?

Speaker 6 (29:05):
All right?

Speaker 5 (29:06):
Do you want to see Guda catch a frisbee? She's
really good at this. I'm not the best of throwers.
But here we go. Are you ready, Gouda? Are you ready?

Speaker 10 (29:15):
Oh good?

Speaker 5 (29:15):
You wanna flip it back? And I caught it back
so again. God is such a you want me to
throw it again?

Speaker 6 (29:22):
Okay? You ready?

Speaker 10 (29:23):
Okay?

Speaker 6 (29:25):
All right, there you have it again.

Speaker 5 (29:27):
You can come out to Sea Lions Splash and you
can meet Guda. She'll wave that you so a good
time here at kirk County Fair, But back out of here.

Speaker 6 (29:34):
Live a Sea Lions Splash again.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
They're gonna be out here throughout the entire fair and
you have to come out and see Guda. I've always wanted.
Last year, I wanted my kiss from Guda. Do I
get that kiss again? Let's see if she's gonna deny
or give me a kiss?

Speaker 6 (29:49):
Guda? Do I get a kiss?

Speaker 10 (29:51):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (29:52):
I got the kiss I really wanted. All right, guys,
we'll be right back.

Speaker 12 (29:58):
Back now with some entertainment news.

Speaker 13 (30:00):
News NBC has announced that Saturday Night Live will begin
season fifty one on October fourth, and the host will
be three time Grammy winner Bad Bunny. He returns for
his second time as host, but he will not be
the singer doing double duty that night. The musical guest
will be Dojacat. After that opening week, Amy Poehler will
host week two with role Model as the musical desk.

(30:21):
Then in week three October eighteenth, Sabrina Carpenter will serve
as host and musical guest too. Longtime Network News correspondent
Chris Wallace yesterday was honored with the Star on the
Walk of Fame.

Speaker 12 (30:34):
Wallace's television career spanned decades and.

Speaker 13 (30:37):
Included interviews with Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, and
even Russian President Vladimir Putin. Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
and former Tonight Show host Jay Leno joined Wallace for
the ceremony. Lenno and Wallace were questioned about the state
of free speech in the nation after news that Jimmy
Kimmel Show was polled by ABC after he joked about
the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Speaker 12 (31:00):
It's a comedian talking.

Speaker 10 (31:02):
If they don't like it, don't watch it.

Speaker 6 (31:04):
I mean, it doesn't scial market.

Speaker 10 (31:06):
Well, that's the market.

Speaker 13 (31:07):
I mean, lots of people decide if people like a show.

Speaker 10 (31:10):
It stays on the air. I mean that's as simple
as that. I mean, I enjoyed Jimmy. I like all
the guys.

Speaker 24 (31:15):
I think they're really foal with this.

Speaker 10 (31:16):
I like jokes.

Speaker 12 (31:17):
That's why I'm watching Wallace.

Speaker 13 (31:20):
Meantime is now a senior advisor for news and media
investments at Redbird Capital Partners. The investment management firm is
a major investor in Skydance, which recently purchased Paramount. The
current company of CBS and the Federal Trade Commission is
suing ticket Master and Live Nation. The suit was filed
against the two ticketing giants for allegedly engaging in illegal

(31:41):
ticket resale tactics. The lawsuit was filed in federal court
in California, with seven other states joining in, including Florida, Illinois,
and Virginia. The FTC says the company's quote tactically worked
with scalpers, which allowed them to unlawfully purchase tickets to
increase their profits. The Consumer Protection Agency said the company
we made three point seven billion dollars in resol tickets

(32:03):
between twenty nineteen and twenty twenty four, and speaking of tickets.
Ticket sales for the twenty twenty eight Olympics are coming up.
LA twenty eight has announced general registration opens in January.
Fans can enter the lottery for LA twenty eight at
LA twenty eight dot org and if selected, they could
begin buying tickets next spring. Single event tickets start at

(32:23):
twenty eight dollars. Fans who are not selected in the
first round of ticket drops will automatically be entered into
the subsequent ones. The game's open July fourteenth, twenty twenty eight,
with ceremonies at the Coliseum and Sofi Stadium.

Speaker 12 (32:37):
And coming up to the next tip.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
Joining us to talk more about the fundaments we have
going on at the fair.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
Coming up is marketing specialist Chelsea Hi.

Speaker 9 (32:43):
Good morning, Good morning guys, Thanks for joining us again,
thanks for having me.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
So tell me, what is one attraction that you believe
people are drawn to the most here at the far.

Speaker 9 (32:52):
You know, if you have to nail it down, I
would have to say attraction wise, you know, maybe the
livestock and okay, yeah, I mean it's such a huge staple,
especially being so heavy and rich and agriculture in Kern County,
that it's one of the must sees and something that
a lot of people don't see every day.

Speaker 7 (33:10):
Yeah, I want to talk more about FFA because I
was touring the cows, the builds and everything yesterday.

Speaker 8 (33:15):
It was amazing. But the kids do a fantastic job.

Speaker 7 (33:18):
What's alike having different high schools competing and showing off
their animals and how I mean, how.

Speaker 10 (33:22):
Cool is that?

Speaker 9 (33:23):
Honestly, one of the coolest parts about it is how
much of a tradition it is. You know, you have
people whose family members have shown from their grandparents, their
great grandparents.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
And it's such a fun thing.

Speaker 9 (33:34):
They put in so much work throughout the year to
get to this point and it's kind of like a
reward getting to see all your friends families and hangout,
but also seeing all your hard work payoff.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
Yeah, and we have the Grandstand Rodeo coming up. Why
do you think that's such a big event?

Speaker 9 (33:49):
You know, rodeo and Kern County is a popular thing.
And we have an extra PRCA rodeo showtime this year
because we have sold out the last like four years
I think of our rodeo shows, and so we added
extra times so hopefully everyone gets to enjoy this time.

Speaker 7 (34:05):
Yeah, and one thing about fairis is obviously the food.
How many vembors do we have this year? And what's
your favorite tree that you've tried so far?

Speaker 9 (34:13):
It's crazy how much food you can fit on one paraground.
But I think that like traditionally, you have to hit
up the bass club, you have to hit up the
bigger sold fireman's booth, and of course you have to
get your old West Cinimon roles. I think that is
one of the most popular things, especially grabbing some on
your way out of the fair grounds each night.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
And you spend so much time putting together the fair
I mean, it's crazy. You've been preparing for this for
months and months and months. Tell me about what do
you think what makes it the most special? What is
so special about seeing people come in and actually experience
what you've been looking at on a computer screen for months.

Speaker 9 (34:49):
I think the best part overall is getting to see
everybody's faces when they walk in. You know, it's such
a traditional place and everyone in our community has something
that they do out here. You run into so many
different people you know, and for such a big event,
it feels very small when you get to see everybody
out here and getting to see everyone's smiling faces and

(35:12):
enjoying it makes it all worth it, I mean totally.

Speaker 7 (35:15):
Yeah. Final question for me, Chelsea, favorite part of the
fair so far. I know we're just a couple of
days in, but what's your favorite part?

Speaker 11 (35:23):
Ben?

Speaker 9 (35:23):
Honestly, I did like the rain yesterday. I know it
sounds weird, but I've been here for a while now
and we usually get a little drizzle in the morning sometimes,
but it was kind of cool watching the concert having
the rain come down like it was.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Like a music video moment, yeah, in a movie.

Speaker 10 (35:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
Well, Chelsea, thank you so much for joining us this morning.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
Yes, thanks for having me, they say seventeen moons Live
from the Kerrent County Fair.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
All right, welcome back to Sunrise everybody.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
As you can see, we're no longer in our chairs
because we're joined by some more with us this morning.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Good morning. Alright.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
So we have Shirry and we have Bella, and we
also have Dexter.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
All right, thank y'all for joining us. Tell me a
little bit about Bakersfield.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
Four h we're a small club.

Speaker 6 (36:20):
We have what four we have four kids at show pigs.

Speaker 26 (36:24):
I'm sorry, sorry, no, you're good.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
I just want to make sure we can hear you
want to. We have set up going on over here.

Speaker 26 (36:37):
So we just teach kids about responsibility, raising animals, feeding,
getting them to fair, raising money uh, money management. And
this is her first year with a project market animal.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Yeah, I was gonna say, can you'll tell me a
little bit more about Dexter?

Speaker 6 (37:02):
Very talkative.

Speaker 26 (37:06):
He's a Berkshire, that's the breed he is. He was
pharaohed at my house. He's one of our babies. And
she got him in May, beginning of May. He was
about thirty pounds and she's raised him at to what
does he weiight?

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Now?

Speaker 8 (37:29):
Four pounds?

Speaker 26 (37:30):
And she will be showing him on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Speaker 7 (37:34):
And what's so rewarding about having volunteers showing off their
animals and basically competing care at the fair?

Speaker 26 (37:42):
Just seeing the work that these kids put in it.
I just love watching it. She shows up twice a
day sometimes more, walks her animal twenty forty minutes a day,
feeds him, takes really good care of him, and just
the commitment.

Speaker 4 (38:00):
So if people want to volunteer or join Bakerfield for Age,
how can they join?

Speaker 26 (38:03):
How can they be a part of this and you
just go online to Kern County four h and pick
the club that's near you, see what they have, what
you're interested in, and join. It's it's very fulfilling.

Speaker 7 (38:13):
Yeah, how rewarding of an experience is it for the
kids just to get to take.

Speaker 6 (38:18):
Care of an animal?

Speaker 8 (38:19):
And basically, like you said, with Dexter from thirty pounds.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
To over two, we have a puddle.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
Dexter wants to play in the puddles.

Speaker 26 (38:26):
Around Well, I'm you would have to ask her that.

Speaker 6 (38:31):
How rewarding it is for you?

Speaker 10 (38:33):
It's Exter alone.

Speaker 8 (38:37):
Dexter's getting some drink of water right now.

Speaker 7 (38:40):
It's very rewarding because you need to watch them grow
up and be there for every moment.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
You can be there for every moment of it. That's
so sweet.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
So what kind of what kind of time and effort
does it take to go into training someone like Dexter?

Speaker 26 (38:56):
A lot?

Speaker 3 (38:56):
He's a very stubborn, So it could you talk into
the mic?

Speaker 4 (39:01):
I'm so sorry, Oh it's okay, We're just having a
couplet sound issues.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
So yeah, what is it like to kind of raise Dexter?
It's it was, it was very stressful and it took
a lot of time, but it was it was pretty nice.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
Yeah, well, thank you so much for coming out here
this morning, for bringing Dexter and talking to us about
bakersfil four eight.

Speaker 7 (39:22):
Yes, we'll say level Dexter goes a little stubborn right now.

Speaker 6 (39:25):
He wants his puddle.

Speaker 7 (39:26):
Well, the guests keep rolling in here on sunrise, and
we're happy to be joined by Erica Quintero from Sweets
by Jay and she joined us now with a bite
of the Kerrent County Fair and Erica, thank you so
much for joining us this morning.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
So do buy chocolate has been a huge trend. I
feel like I cannot open my phone without seeing it.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
All over my Instagram explorer page. Tell me what kind
of trades you're bringing to us out the fire.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
So this morning I have it.

Speaker 22 (39:49):
Do you buy chocolate strawberry cup?

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Do y'all see this? Look at this?

Speaker 22 (39:54):
Wow, there's a forth that we can try it out
this morning as well.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
Okay, tell me about this.

Speaker 22 (39:58):
Okay, So we obviously we got your strong aberies right there.
And then we do a chocolate, a really good chocolate's
Calvit chocolate. And then we make our own in house
pistachio cream and so I like to joke it's ninety pistaschio.
We blended ourselves a little bit of avocata oil in
our secret ingredient, and then on top of it it's
a kadaif it's a shredded dose a cut toffee and

(40:18):
then some more fresh pistashio.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
Well tell me about you said, are there any more
new treats that y'all are bringing this year?

Speaker 22 (40:30):
Yes, we actually have a couple of new streets. I
think there's a foody contest this here, we're doing the
gunciito frape. I think they should have pictured that as well.
And so it's a blended gun setho. If you don't
know what that is, I like to joke, Sa, it's
a Mexican twinkie. It's a speaky basically wrapped and dipping chocolate,
and then we blend it at you know, milk ice
and the gun seito itself.

Speaker 7 (40:48):
Yeah, Erica, what goes into creating a mishmash of items
just like these?

Speaker 8 (40:54):
I'm sure it takes a lot of creativity.

Speaker 12 (40:56):
You know what.

Speaker 22 (40:57):
The way we started that, I seen it on TikTok,
so you know, I was like, I want to try
you know, no, idea, no intention of doing it the fair,
you know, my neighbor's family, friends, and so like like
I'm gonna try this, you know, just kind of came
up with the idea kind of playing with it and
I was like, you know what, nobody has it at
the fair, so let's read it out here, and we
just kind of went from there.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
Yeah, and I mean going into day three.

Speaker 4 (41:15):
I know it's only been two days so far, but
what has been the most popular items so far?

Speaker 22 (41:20):
Well, definitely the Dubai chocolate strawberries. I think it's just that,
you know, they have to try it.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 22 (41:25):
Thing we also do like the mini pancakes and it's
been a huge, huge hit. And another thing is the
I'm sorry, the waffle on a stick.

Speaker 3 (41:34):
That sounds good.

Speaker 22 (41:36):
Yeah, So yeah, it's since you're at the fair, you
need something on a stick right to walk around with
and it's super easy to eat and walk around with.
And so that's been that's been a big hit as
well this year.

Speaker 8 (41:43):
Erica, where can we find uh you and your stand?

Speaker 22 (41:46):
So we have two locations with for the Dubai strawberries,
we have one that's actually right here on the other
side of Livestock so basically just across the street on
Grand Avenue, and they have one that's also on Grand
Avenue or towards a Union entrance and extent.

Speaker 8 (41:59):
All right, Erica can tear everybody with Sweets by Jay.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
Real quick. Hopefully I won't spill it. You know, I
already disropped the strawberry.

Speaker 8 (42:08):
I'm wanting to take a bite out of the strawberry. Oh,
it's incredible.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
This is by Breakfast.
