(00:24):

This is our You're listening to theKing of Wrestling podcast. And now
you're Yes, I am the hostof the most I am Brenda Turner.
Welcome into King of Wrestling Podcast. We got a very special guest, somebody.
I've been trying to get a holdtol for a while, but you
(00:46):
know, him being out in California, Beverly Hills, living the life,
I just you know, I couldn'tget to hold him. What's up,
beautiful, Bobby, Welcome to Kingof Wrestling Podcast. Finally, Yes,
sir, how's it going? Man? All is going? It's going now?
Yeah, I hear you. I'mout here on the beach. It's
sunny and seventy five, and youknow, just doing my thing. You
(01:08):
know, I'm see I'm from LasVegas and the bottom, which is not
too far from Beverly Hills, butright, but it's not as luxurious as
Beverly Hills. What's it like livingin that kind of luxury? Oh?
Man, you know, I meanI walked down, I walked down the
sidewalk and people just whistle at mebecause they see the most beautiful man of
professional wrestling. They know that wheneverBobby walks down the street, they're gonna
(01:32):
see a show and they're gonna seethe most beautiful person they've ever seen.
So it is great. People kissmy little ring finger every now and again.
They tie my shoes like it's it'sgreat. Man. I love it
out here. Oh man, Eddieis awesome. That's awesome life. I
do want to get into something thatright off the bat. I want to
ask how did beautiful Bobby get intowrestling? Where you kind of a wrestling
(01:53):
fan growing up? And then howdid you find your way into the business.
Oh yeah, yeah, I alwayswas. Actually, my grand father
got me into watching wrestling when Iwas probably about ten years old. And
then, uh, when my parentsseparated, we ended up moving and uh
my stepdad to be actually had cableTV and I started watching Monday Night Raw
(02:15):
all the time. But Mama didn'tlike it, and she told me that
I couldn't watch it. And Iwas like, come on, Mama,
I love that stuff, and shesaid, well, I'll tell you what.
I'll let you watch it as longas you know that it's fake and
you can't do this with your friends. Well, jokes on, mamacased.
Twenty years later, here I amdoing it with my friends. But but
(02:38):
no, um. Uh. Probablyabout in two thousand and six I met
a my Space days. Actually,I found Gulf Coast Wrestling in Morgan City,
Louisiana, and uh, we hitup the promoter, who's a Mustang
Mike, and just asked him aboutsome tickets and we started going to some
(03:00):
shows. And then I just startedlooking at these guys in the ring and
nothing against them, but they werethere was a couple of them now were
like really badly out of shape, and I was like, well, Hella,
they can do it. I cando it. So I hit up
Mustang and asked him how much itwould cost and what I had to do
(03:20):
to train, and he brought usto this little sweatshop out in Morgan City
and had a ring barely had anypadding on it, and he put us
through the ringer for probably about sixto eight weeks and then I had my
first match and on July second oftwenty and ten in Amel, Louisiana,
(03:40):
and the rest is history. Honestly, well, old Mustang Mike, and
I can tell you right now fromtraining myself, I remember that ring with
no pad. I put in oneof those that ain't that ain't no fun.
Oh no, no, no,no no. My back would be
sore for weeks. I would besitting there at night having flashbacks. That'd
(04:06):
be just like you know, everytime I landed all the bed, I
was like, oh that feels good. But in training it was not.
It was not fun at all.But we got through it though. Oh
yeah, totally totally and only thetust of lives exactly. And you know,
I've been around you several times inlocker rooms and stuff and not.
(04:28):
But I want to ask you somethingabout Musta Mic though, because I've I've
had Mustain Mic on the show andhe goes way back. I mean he's
had he's had a good career,he really has. But I know you
and him have had some problems. Now, Yeah, what does that stem
from? I think a lot ofwhat it stems from is that Mustang has
been around for We're going on whattwenty five maybe thirty years now that he's
(04:53):
been out there, and uh,I think what it really stems from his
jealousy because his student slowly became theteacher. And about two years ago in
New Iberia, Louisiana, that cameall to a head when I beat him
for the Action Packed Wrestling Heavyweight Championshipand he's been chasing me and trying to
(05:16):
get back to the top ever since, and he just can't seem to beat
me now. So I think that'swhat his problem is, is that I
surpassed him in a shorter period oftime than he's been in the business.
Well, does he really think thathe can beat one of the best professional
wrestlers in the business today. Idon't think he does, man. I
(05:40):
mean he's tried, he's tried, and every time I'm that thorn in his
side and I end up beating himonce again. Matter of fact, the
last time I beat him was inNovember Clean one, two three, and
he's been whining and complaining ever since. Yeah, He even tried to complain
and blame you for something that happenedat Diamond between Brimstone and him. I
(06:02):
was like, you was just allyou was doing was helping the snooze fest.
That's what you were doing. Yeah, it was boring, man.
I was just trying to add alittle life to the party. And I
mean I was trying to hit Brimstone. I don't I don't know why.
I must ain't got in the way, but I mean, you know,
probably just another reason to go andcry to his old lady. You know
that Bobby's still better, and youknow, but she's probably tired to hear
(06:26):
another You know, she might justcome jump on the Bobby bandwagon pretty soon.
You never know, Hell, everybody'sjumping on the Bobby band wag.
But now Bobby I was, youknow, we'd, like I said,
we've been in a few locker roomstogether, and that one of those locker
rooms being Diamond. You know, you found your way into Diamond this year,
and you've racked up a pretty goodresume this year in Diamond. That
(06:49):
other than the fact, now, this is what I do want to get
into, Other than the fact thatI was I was there that night I
was actually scouting talent, and rightyou were supposed to be handed the Golf
Coach Championship because Brimstone got scared hedidn't want to fight you and he wanted
(07:09):
and then Jeane throws a wrench inthere like he's some master something. That's
the problem with DCW, that conspiracystuff that they do, that stuff that
they just want to work, theywant to work against us, and then
he gives three other people a shotand put you at a disadvantage against four
people where you don't even have toget pinned to lose. Right, right,
That's that's that seems to happen everywhereI go. Man. I you
(07:32):
know, Bobby brings greatness to everycompany that he works for. I was
right on the cusp of winning theGulf Coast Heavyweight Championship. I mean,
it's not my fault that Brimstone gota little scratch and couldn't perform that night.
I was there. The titles shouldhave been given to me, because
if my opponent can't go, that'snot my fault. But then I have
(07:56):
to get put in there with CharlesWest Maxwell and Charlie Ace. What is
what has he done to even beable to lace up boots and actually go
against Bobby. Well, you seethis is my thing too. All right,
let's go back to Brimstone vere becauseI've been around Brimstone long enough.
(08:18):
All right, you talk about hisscratch and all this, and see what
happens is like I said, I'vebeen around him enough that Brimstone, when
he realizes a threat, that's whenhe throws the towel in. And I
figured that's what it was, andthat's that's what happened, because see,
he lost his loaded gloves because Ikept talking about him so much, because
(08:39):
he every time he had hit somebodyelse, you know, them gloves were
loaded. That's the only way hecould win was cheap. And and so
when I found out he was takingyou off for the Gulf Coast him just
like, oh man, Bobby's gonnabe the new Gulf Coast champion. And
then as soon as I hear Brimston, oh you know, I can't compete
this weekend. I'm sitting here goingto year. He knew he's gonna have
to throw the towel in, andso because Bobby's gonna win, and then
(09:01):
Jane in DCW management that is toobowing all this stuff around and puts four
people on there. The only reasonthey did that was because see Charles West
had you distracted over there, andCharlie As penned Maxwell. Now that's not
saying much because I mean, whohasn't penned Maxwell? Everybody has. So
(09:22):
Charlie As gets the pen on Maxwell. Here we go with Charlie's what I'm
waiting for is but I know howDCW management is. They're going to drag
this out because they want they wantCharlie to feel good about himself. But
the second he gets in there werebeautiful, Bobby is over. Oh yeah,
totally, man. Charlie A's justbetter. He better just count the
days with his title, better makesure he doesn't lose it backstage again,
(09:46):
because you know, once Bobby getshis opportunity, because as far as I'm
concerned, I didn't get penned,Bobby is still number one contender to that
that Gold Coast title. So assoon as I picked my spot and I
get Charlie As in my clutches again, you saw what happened a couple of
(10:07):
weeks agoing down and he's gonna haveno chance, and Bobby's waste will be
wearing that Gulf Coast title. Ifully agree. And you know, and
Charlie, just for future references, you should check tables all the time,
exactly. Always check tables because younever know what's behind them. Oh,
(10:31):
I can tell you this right now. I was. I was watching him
Saturday night and he had a title. I don't know if he actually super
glued it to him, but I'dnever left his shoulder after, you know,
the show started out, he's likea little kid in a candy store,
holding onto it like it was goingto go somewhere. Well, it's
because he knows his time has numbered, that the clock is ticking and he's
not gonna be champion very long. That belt is going to a much deserving
(10:56):
competitor. And that's the man you'retalking to right now. And once we
step in the ring and that titleis on the line, will Charlie as
beat beautiful Bobby? Nope? Nope. Oh well I'll ue you twenty five
cents, but well we'll we'll collectthat that later. Yeah, well,
we'll collect that later. Man.Actually, there's a guy backstage at the
(11:18):
Diamond shows. He's got a baldhead, and I think we can probably
get him to pay your fine again. Ok, Okay, that'll work all
right, But I will I willsay this though, you know, with
you coming into Diamond, it's justto me, it's inevitable you're going to
be the Golf Coach Champion because Ijust don't see Charlie a spending you off.
(11:41):
The only reason that Charlie As wonthat Golf Coach Championship was because he
maxwell, Like I said, everybodyhas even and plus if you saw the
match, I flipped in the cornerand I ended up falling outside the ring
and I took a pretty hard fall. I mean, I think that was
Jean's way of like, you know, I think he messed with the canvas
or something because he knew that, you know. Yeah, So I think
(12:03):
Gene actually did something and he madeit loose and I slipped. And that's
the only reason that I was notpart of that finish because if so,
I would have won the Gulf Coasttitle that night, not Charlie Ace.
So I need I need DCW managementto start looking into that because I think
the management is trying to hold bodyback. Same here with Brillian Nique.
(12:26):
I think they're trying to hold back. I mean they even let that desperate
Davis put their hands and put hishands on me the other night and it's
trying to stretch me around that pole. I was like, this is on
you all right. By the way, you know, I've still got a
little ache in the back. Butnow I'm gonna be all right, you
know, Max gonna take care ofthat. Okay, all right, I'll
(12:48):
tell you what. I know somepretty good masseuses, So you know,
I'll tell you what. I'll getyou hooked up, man, because we
can't have can't have you being inpain. Well, well we'll set that
up all a brilliantie. How aboutthat. Hey, that's what I'm talking
about. Hey, yeah, Ilike that. I like that. Uh.
(13:09):
Now, getting to your career again. Now, you started with around
two thousand and six, seven somewherearound them. My official debut was and
uh July was July second of twothousand and ten, two thousand team Ok.
Yeah, yeah, so you've beenaround eleven years then? Yeah.
Man, a matter of fact,I just hit my eleven year anniversary back
(13:30):
on July second. Sure did wow? Sure did? Yeah? Eleven years
and you know I've been in thering with some some pretty good talent over
the years, Um, I've hadthe had the the luxury, I guess
you could say, or the whateverof sharing the ring with some some guys
(13:50):
that I grew up watching on television, you know, like I I've had
a match matches against Hacksaw, JimDuggin, I teamed up with Shane Douglas
a couple of times, UM eventeamed up with Hacksaw, and just been
able to meet a lot of peoplethat I never thought I'd get the opportunity
to meet when I was sitting therein front of the TV and just watching
(14:11):
these guys every week on Raw andthen Nitro and everything, and you know,
it's just been it's been a blessing, honestly, because not many people
get to do what we do.And here, here I am. I
can say that I'm living living adream. You know, I may not
make it big and go on tothe next level, but I'm happy where
(14:33):
I'm at and whenever, whenever thebill tolds I guess you could say,
at least I can say that Idid something that I wanted to do and
I was good at it. That'sthat's what I say, man, I
say, you know, if itdon't matter where I make it. You
know. I'm I'm I'm living thedream. I'm enjoying what I'm doing,
(14:54):
and I just have fun doing it. So I mean, that's all you
can ask for now. In yourlevel years, you talked about Hacksaw,
Jim Doug and you talked about ShaneDouglas. Shane Douglas one of my favorites.
I remember watching. Uh my grandmamade the mistake one time when I
was twelve years old. She shewatched WWF and I was back in the
you know, real PG everybody hadoccupation, right, but my grandma made
(15:20):
the mistake of buying Heat Wave ninetyseven. Oh okay, she thought that.
She thought, oh, well, this wrestling, that's that's what we
see every Monday night. So shebought it and I set up watched it
come on later than the normal payper views, you know, and she
went to bed. I hit theVCR, I hit record and I enjoyed
(15:43):
it. And Shane Douglas took onTerry Funk and Saboo Dot Night triple Threat,
and then also Chris Candido was ontheir Jerry Lawler took on Tommy Dreamer.
It was a it was just aunbelievable showy. Shane Douglas has always
been one of my favorite saying Ilove being around him. I've just the
only thing is I've never That's theone person I've never met. I met
(16:04):
hacks All, but I've never metShane Douglas before. That would be an
honor up there that just be aroundhim. To tell you what, man,
Shane Douglas is one of the nicestguys I've ever met in the business.
I don't know who I'll listen toyour podcast. I'm sure there's some
people that are probably gonna talk crapwhen I say this, but I've I've
(16:26):
sat down and I've drank beer withShane Douglas, and he doesn't talk wrestling.
He won't bring up wrestling. HeThe only way you're gonna talk about
wrestling with Shane Douglas is if youstart the conversation. And one time,
see, I wasn't a big ShaneDouglas fan when I was watching UM,
(16:47):
never stayed up late to watch ECW. Wasn't really a fan of the product,
but I would keep him from timeto time. And if I'm not
mistaken, I think that Heat Wavepay per view you talking about. If
I remember correctly. Didn't they doa didn't they do a set up on
Monday Night Raw? Because of theDreamer going against Lawlor and ECW like invaded
(17:07):
Monday Night Raw. Ye, that'sthe reason it was for that, right,
Yeah? So but yeah, ShaneDouglas man, he uh, he's
he's real cool. I've got hisI've got his personal cell phone number.
Um, a couple months ago.I just hit him up for the hell
of it. And he's a busyman. He called me probably about three
weeks later and we talked for fortyfive minutes to an hour, and you
(17:29):
know what, we talked about COVIDnineteen. We didn't talk. He asked
me how the how wrestling was goingdown here? You know, it's it's
COVID and everything, and but wewere mostly talking about if we were going
to get the vaccine and what hethought about it and everything. He's a
really intelligent man, and he butso cool and he's easy to do business
(17:55):
with. Two. Um, he'llchallenge you. He'll challenge you because I
booked him for a show one timeand I had an idea and his response
was because I know he didn't likeit. He was like, use me
wisely, Rob used me wisely. So then I started thinking about it and
(18:15):
I came over the whole other ideaand we pitched it to him and he
was like, that's what I'm talkingabout, brother, right there. You
know. So we brought him toa show. It was a Halloween show,
well Halloween weekend, and we hadSimon Gotch booked on that that card,
and Shane Douglas became available like twoweeks before the show, so we
(18:36):
booked him too, And I didn'twant to take away from Simon Gotch because
we were advertising him. So wehad there was a big breakdown going in
the ring, and you know,we bring Shane Douglass out in a old
man mask in a cane and nobody. Nobody suspected it. Nobody and Shane
got in the ring and he startedswinging the cane hitting people and then he
(19:00):
pulled the mask off. Man.The pop from the crowd was just amazing.
And uh, just a just agreat guy, great, great all
around guy. He's he's he's he'sreally cool and like I said, easy
to do business with. A matterof fact, I think he's coming to
Mississippi soon. Yeah, he's comingto Battles on right December four. Yeah,
(19:22):
cool guy, if you get achance, man, I'm telling you,
just just have a conversation with him. I'd love to and and and
this is another thing like and I'mnot knocking people because I know, like
people want to come to you know, wrestlers like Shane Davison, they want
to talk wrestling. Right me,I'm different. You know, I'd rather
(19:45):
not talk wrestling, you know, because I mean, I know that's it.
He's heard everything. Why why wasn'the want to talk about that,
you know, talk talk normal stuff. And you know that's just like when
I met Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson. We I probably talked to them a
couple of hours and never we nevereven talked about wrestling first. We're talking
(20:08):
about other stuff. And uh andI mean like anytime I call Ricky,
Like I call Ricky and he ison his on the airplane headed to Impact
Wrestling to do to do the deal. But he answered the phone on the
plane. He didn't have to dothat, I mean, you know,
before it left. But right,he didn't have to do that because I
mean, who am I You know, he could have called me back.
(20:30):
But usually everybody every time I callRicky. He usually picks up right then
and and I'm most of the timewe don't even talk wrestling. The only
time we talkt wrestlings like if somebody'syou know, we're trying to get them
somewhere or something like that. Butright, But yeah, I mean that's
what I like, getting to knowsomebody on a different level, because you
know, Shane Douglas has probably beenasked thirty times about that ECW throwing the
(20:52):
belt down and and the WWF,the click and all that. You know,
he's already been at asked that.A mean, that's why you gonna,
I mean, you want to youwant to hear him talk about wrestling
or something like, hey, gowatch an interview, go search YouTube.
Yeah, exactly. A matter offact, the last time one of the
times I met him, I hungout with him, I watched one of
(21:15):
his um shoot promos on YouTube andhe was talking about his last two weeks
in w WS and uh when Iwhen I talked to him that night,
I was like, hey, man, UH watched one of your shoot videos.
He's like, I was like, you really like to shoot U?
He's like, oh yeah, brother, So I brought up so I brought
up that one and he, uh, he's right in front of me now
(21:40):
now granted already watched this this interview. Now he's reciting it word for word
to me in person. It waslike it was like he knew the whole
thing and he it was like itwas dead on from what I heard on
the internet. And uh, buthe he'll talk a year off. Man.
He's a He's a great guy though. He really is. He really
(22:00):
is. He's been one of myfavorites to work with, honestly, and
you know, he had you know, he was talking about carl Lett,
you know, one of them, and talking about you know, how they
how Diesel and Shan Michael's you know, I actually had PCO on a podcast
and I brought that up and wetalked about it, and he said that
him and Sean had buried the Hatchetta long time ago, and he was
(22:23):
real you know about it. Hetalked about how mad it made him and
you know and stuff like that. But you know, with Shane and you
talked about ECW that wasn't your product. Um, it wasn't mine either.
I watched Shane Douglas. The mainreason that I bought that pay per view
(22:45):
was because of Jerry the King Lawler. I've always been I've always been a
big fan of Jerry the King Lawlerand and that was the main reason,
because if you go back in mycareer as far as people that I loved,
there's two people that were my favoriteof all time. That's Joedy King
Lawler and Bobby the brain he Okay, all right, I love those two
(23:07):
to death. I could watch Bobbythe brain heen and all day long,
just the weasel suit and everything hedid with all that. I mean,
he's just he was very entertaining. He was great. He was great.
Well, one of my favorite guyswas my first favorite, believe it or
not, because you can't probably can'ttell by the way I worked in the
(23:29):
ring, but my first favorite wrestlerwas Seawn Michaels. So, but then
Diesel came along, and then Iwas into Diesel, you know, And
then for many years I watched Imean, I'm one of I'm part of
the lucky generation that got to seethe Monday Night Wars. But then after
that this guy came along. Onceagain, you probably can't tell that I
(23:51):
idolize them because I don't do anythinglike he does. In the ring.
But Kurt Angeles, oh yeah, and uh so that those were the guys
that I kind of just I wouldwatch them and I would just get lost
in their matches, and then fora little while it was down Indell's page.
You know. So I've got I'vegot a wide variety, and I
(24:14):
always enjoyed the bad guys. Ialways enjoyed the heels. And that's kind
of why I stuck with Jenny Heelwhen I got into the business. You
know so well, you know,uh the thing with Sean Michaels, who
was one of my favorites as well, Mike. Shan Michaels was one of
my favorites when he wrestled in aw I remember watching AWA on ESPN.
Him and Marty Jeannetti were the midnightrockers and I was a huge fan of
(24:38):
Shawn Michaels. Then when he finallybroke away from Marty Jeannetti and became a
Heel, I was sold on ShawnMichaels. From then their Curt Angle.
I'll say one little short story aboutthat. The first time I ever seen
Kurt Angle took on meat at SurvivorSheries ninety nine. His debut yep,
And I thought that was the worstmatch I'd ever seen, just coming from
(25:00):
my eyes. You know, wewere in the middle of the attitude there,
okay, right, right, right, So about a month goes by
and then two months three, andI'm just the more I get to watch
an angle, the more I'm intoit. And you know, I loved
Kurt Anglin. That first year hehad in WWF or ww was unprecedentedly one
(25:22):
of the best years ever yet totallywhat King of the Ring Ic title,
European title, and then same yearhe won all the belts in the same
year except for the tax traps, right, he won every belt except for
the tax traps. He was evenhardcore champion for a Cup of Tea that
year. That's right, he was, and but he was he was European
(25:45):
and Intercontinental at the same time becausehe went against den Wine and Guerrero in
that triple threat at many of thatyear and laws both belts and never got
ten yep. And that and youknow that that was the funny thing and
Kurt to bringing that up about Kurt, and not only was he a great
athlete, but he was also veryentertaining. He could he could pull off
stuff all the time. I wasanother person I loved watching him. Oh
(26:07):
yeah. The comedy aspect of Kurtwas amazing. It was especially especially when
him and Austin was doing that stuff. A lot of people look back at
it and they can say what theywant to say, but it was entertaining
and it was fun. Oh yeah, man, when they were getting the
cowboy hats and the badges and fightingover who was gonna hug someone Vince Man
man, you know, oh yeah, man, it was great. He
(26:30):
was people do some some people, some guys I ran across, they think
comedy doesn't belong in wrestling, Butman, comedy, comedy's great. Everybody
wants to laugh. You you gottahave comedy in wrestling. Now. I'm
not saying that you go Will Farrellwith it, but you're not stand up.
But make the people laughs. Man, they give them something to remember.
(26:56):
You buy because I'm gonna tell whenKurt aink was doing all that stuff.
And another one was when he gothis head shaped. I mean,
he played it so well and hehad the two pay with the wrestling head
year on. With the miracle ofhair products, I've grown my hair back
in only twenty four hours. Butsee, I'll tell you another thing about
(27:18):
him. A few years ago whenhe was when they announced that he was
getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. Um, I made the trip because
as one of my favorite guys,I had to see him get inducted into
Hall of Fame. And I wasn'ttoo happy with his with his his speech
because I wanted to hear some morestuff that I didn't know about him.
(27:41):
But the coolest thing to me abouthis whole speech was he was telling the
new generation the roster that was sittingout there, don't be scared. Don't
be scared to be a character, because a lot of people they forget that
(28:03):
we were supposed to play a characterin front of these people. We're not
We're not Brandon and Robert. I'mbeautiful Bobby when I'm out in front of
those people. So I want thosepeople to remember me. And you know
how many people walk up to merandom places and they look at me,
they say, hey, nope, and and they'll do it here where I
(28:26):
live in California now. But anyways, UM, I've done places. I
was in New Orleans one times andthese people walked up to me. They
said that I was like, wheredo y'all see me wrestle? Because you
know, they're like, oh,we saw y'all, we saw you in
Mississippi. Man, you were great. I'm like, oh, cool,
thank you. And I'm not sayingI'm a big superstar, but to be
(28:47):
recognized like that, that just provesthat I left an impression on somebody.
Oh exactly. I mean, likeI'm the Ocean Springs and Pascagoula or not.
They're not big towns. I meanthere's you know there mean, and
I live three hours away from there, but you know, I went into
a convenience story one time and thisgirl looks at me. She says,
(29:10):
are you the brilliant one? Isaid, I said I am, and
she says, where's all your flashygear? At I said, let me
go get it. I went outand put the jacket on and walked in
there there. So yeah, Imean, you know it is It's it's
funny. I got people here andMiss Meridian, which is you know,
(29:30):
there's no wrestling within two hours, and you're really much But a lot of
these will come and go to someof these shows and I'll go into places
and let me see the your newvideo let me see it, come on
and uh, stuff like that. But you know, it's fun and it's
right. We're playing a character. You know, we're out there to entertain,
and you know, just go outthere and do what you can to
(29:52):
entertain. There's people, and heykeep them coming back because I'm gonna tell
you something from one of the famouspeople I don't know. I'm sure you
know who Money Warbucks is, right, yeah, yeah, yeah, all
right. At the end of thenight, Monty told me the one goal
he has. They're not gonna remembermy match, but they're gonna remember me.
Yeah, totally. They're gonna talkabout money Warbucks when they lead the
(30:15):
building. Yep. I mean, you know, one of the main things
that has been happening here recently, especially in Diamond, it's I don't know
who these people are, but theykeep showing up and they keep chanting Pepto
bismol just because I wear pink. And it's like cool because you know what,
I know him. I know himin the I'm in their head.
(30:37):
They think about it. They're like, I know that they think about it.
They're like when they're coming to thebuilding and they know that Bobby's gonna
be on the car, they're alreadythinking about it, like we're gonna call
him pepto bismol to night, youknow. And it's it's just what we
do. Like I will never putdown anybody's work. Everybody's got a got
(31:00):
something great about them. You've gotguys that can go out there and do
flips, You've got guys that cango out there and brawl. You've got
guys that can go out there anddo all kinds of different things. But
it's what people remember about you,you know. And I mean if they
remember that Bobby had never has agreat match, but they still remember that
(31:21):
when they come in, they cankiss me off, I call me pepto
bismol, or they yoll nope atme, or I yoll nope at them.
Whatever. It's what we do,and it's what we do exactly is
the greatest. It's one of thegreatest things in the world, man,
because it's it's especially in front ofa live audience, because there's no hiding
who you are. There's no hidinganything because those people know if you're not
(31:44):
you know, they can tell ifyou're not into your character. And wrestling
fans are labeled as stupid, butthey're not. They're there for a good
time and they and they know.I mean, you know, um,
you know, talking to somebody toois like another thing that's missing, and
I think I'll bring a little bitof that too. Wrestling is the chicken
(32:06):
shit. He'll side like, youdon't care if you looked like a fool.
I mean, you know the othernight I was getting pulled, but
the people were laughing and they werehaving a good time and just kept calling
me names while I was getting hurt. Yeah, well yeah, exactly.
(32:27):
But you know, that's that's whatit is, man. That's that's that's
what we do. And if thosepeople, those people probably enjoyed the hell
out of see you get stretched likethat. I heard it. I mean
I couldn't. I couldn't help.But they popped when he got me,
when he when he hit me,they popped, and I was like,
oh no, And then they juststarted laughing and yeah, you finally got
(32:51):
what you deserve. Exactly, becauseI don't know if you, I don't
know if you had seen what happenedbefore the match started up. The real
American J C. Stokes, youknow, he's he's out there a shady
grove nursing home, and I hadhim a gift and I gave it to
him, and he wouldn't open itall the way up. So I just
went ahead and told the fans whatit was. I mean, I gave
(33:13):
him and they went oh. Iwent He opened it up and looked in
there and it was some depends andI just said, they're extra exorbitant,
and the crowd went ooh. Andthen he threw it at me. And
when he threw it at me,it was like a fast ball coming at
my head. I had to duckreal quick. But yeah, man,
yeah, that's oh. I'm sorry. I didn't need to cut. You're
(33:34):
fine, man, You're fine. It's all good now. Now, I
did want to dive into one thingbecause you know, you wrestle a lot
in Louisiana, and we know howthe UH Commission is down there. I
mean, it's just uh, thethe Athletic Commission is just outrageous down there.
But when COVID hit, I mean, it took everything away. What
(33:57):
happened with your like wrestling book insat that point, and how did you
recover? Well, my last sothe last show that was ran down here
was in Oakdale Louisiana and it wason March I want to say, fourteenth
of last year, and we evendid a toilet paper on a pole match
(34:22):
because of everybody freaking out with theshortage of toilet paper, so we figured
we'd just waste on to make peoplemad. But so, and then we
got shut down the following Monday,and I wasn't able. I wasn't able
to wrestle anywhere. Honestly, fromMarch March fourteenth, I didn't wrestle again
(34:43):
until November fifteenth of twenty twenty,so I had about eight months off.
And the crazy thing is is oneof the things that got me back in
to where I was able to actuallywork a match was Hannibal Jackson. Um,
(35:05):
I know everybody, A lot ofpeople know that he passed away in
November. Um, so sew hada had a memorial show plan for him.
He is one of my good friends. And I hit up Chris Black
and I said, hey man,I got to be part of that show.
So um we went down and myself, Aston Spears, Preston Bentley,
(35:30):
a couple of a couple of usthat were really close to Hannibal. Um,
we got to go out and perform. And one of the things I
always say about pro wrestling is,you know, if I'm out in front
of if I'm out in front ofanybody who's having a hard day or having
(35:52):
a hard time in life, andthey can get they can come to a
wrestling show and they can get lostin what we do. So if I'm
only out there for ten to twelveminutes, and for those twelve minutes they're
lost and they're forgetting about their problems, then I'm doing my job. So
that Hannibal Memorial show, the fansactually did that for us that night because
(36:19):
we were all hurting, we wereall down in the dumps, we lost
one of our brothers, and justgetting out there and getting to feel the
energy off the crowd again after eightmonths off many they returned to favor Big
Tim you know, because even thoughwe were even though Hannibal was our minds,
the fans just drew it out ofus because we were finally able to
(36:42):
perform again. And after that show, Man, I got contacted by a
couple promoters in Mississippi. I evencame out to Diamond. I think it
was last December, if I'm notmistaken, And then I just kept waiting
the call from DCW management to getback in there, and in the meantime
(37:04):
I was wrestling for AWF out thereand Simms and Loose Dale, and then
I finally got the call from DiamondAnd since November, I've been wrestling every
month and had multiple bookings now, been to Houston in Alabama and to Mississippi.
I'm trying to trying to expand myhorizons a little bit more. I've
(37:28):
been talking to somebody out in Georgia. I'm trying to get out there because
eleven years don't seem like a longtime, but I was twenty seven when
I started. I'm thirty eight nowand I'm giving myself to the age of
forty two. Work with as manypeople as possible and go out on a
(37:49):
good note. So that's what COVIDdid for me. And now we're all
able to bounce back and get outthere. And it's just been it's just
been a roller coaster ride all year. So yeah, it really has pen
And he brought up hanniball real footbefore we started to wrap up. I
just gonna say, you know,I met Hannibal on a handful of occasions.
(38:13):
Yeah, all right, Well,I've seen him, you know,
I had seen him for a fewyears, but I you know, only
had some personal interactions with him overmaybe a handful of times. And every
time I ever had an interaction withhim, the dude was nothing but phenomenal
and really enjoyed talking to him.We sent back. A matter of fact,
(38:34):
it was widow Fest nineteen, Ibelieve when he came to battles On
and meet him, sit in thelocker room and probably talked. I don't
know, man, it was fora while and then he was like,
I gotta go from We'll get outof here. And I said, all
right, man, it was agood seeing you. And and I want
to say that was probably one ofthe last times I saw him. Yeah,
yeah, well he was my roommate. And uh, last time I
(38:59):
saw as the night before he died. So it was rough. But he
was a great guy man, andwe, uh, we were trying not
to dwell on on the way hislife ended. We just try to keep
his memory alive. And U there'ssome guys, man, I know they
probably listened to your podcast, soI want to give them a shout out.
(39:20):
But Chris Chambers and Wayne Miller, they've been two of my biggest supporters.
We've helped each other because Hannibal toucheda lot of people, and they
were two of them right there outthere at APW in Pensacola. And you
know, me and Chris, wetalk a lot, and I've Chris has
helped me through some stuff. I'vehelped Chris through some stuff. And you
(39:44):
know, our bond was because ofHannibal. So even though Hannibal's not here,
Hannibal's still here. If that makesany sense, probably does, boy
does so. But I'm gonna geta little emotional if we keep talking about
that. Oh yeah, let's moveon, because I do want to get
(40:06):
to the uh. I do wantto get to the part this is.
We're gonna close this out, andbefore we do, beautiful Bobby, You're
always welcome on heres A podcast. But before we do close out, I'm
gonna give you the floor. Man. You can plug whatever you want.
I don't care what is it.Even if you've got cookies, just say
you sell them right here. Allright? Well, I mean I don't
(40:27):
have a lot, but uh,you know, if you're in if you're
in Mississippi Pascagoula Ocean Springs, we'vegot you. You can see Bobby in
both of those towns next month.Um, if you want to travel,
if you want to see a differentbreed of pro wrestling, come over to
Louisiana on August twenty first, wegot Action Packed Wrestling and Whitecastle Louisiana.
(40:54):
Bobby's going up against a matter offact, we talked about this as a
while ago. Bobby is going againstStaying Mike. He's trying to come after
that ap W Heavyweight Championship. Soyou got plenty of plenty of time to
plan. Tickets are tickets are cheap, might be a little drive, but
it's always cool to go to anothertown and see what another company can give
(41:15):
you. So that's that's that's it, man, that's my plug. Hey,
Like I said, I do appreciateyou coming on the show as always.
Man, all right, Man,I appreciate it, and I go.
One more thing is the Kings ofWrestling Podcasts, the best podcast out
(41:37):
there. Yep, what I hadto man, I had to, Man,
I had It's as a pleasure.I loved it. I loved the
little stamp you put on there. That was great. Anytime, man,
just give me a call. Thankyou, all right, buddy, this
