Speaker 2 (00:22):
What is everybuddy? Everyone, Welcome back to an ownition of
the No Before Your Travel Show. We got a show
for you today on this super hot late July afternoon
or morning, actually this morning, this morning, it feels like
it's the afternoons. It's so hot.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I'm like, it's not even nine am. Minute.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
We are back in the studio. It feels good. We
are fresh off a very busy week.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
It's been like just a busy last two weeks and
is going to stay busy for the next two months
because of all the travel that we have coming up.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
So yeah, yeah, and I've got all sorts stuff going
on outside of the travel world, so I'm super busy.
But anyways, we are back fresh off two We're both
wearing our Good Dolls shirt. So we had a super
millennial concert we'll call it. We went to a Google
Doll show in Charlotte, yeah, on Friday, and that was incredible.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
We love good Doles. It's our third time seeing them,
so yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
And they played with dashboard confessional, just just like bands
from the late nineties early two thousands and nothing but
good vibes. Google's actually still making music. Johnny Resnik's still going, honestly.
I was so he like the energy. I know, he's
almost sixty. He's up there jamming and dancing around and
like singing like he's thirty. Oh yeah, like you would
(01:34):
look at him from far away, but like there's no
way that guy sixty years old.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
So yeah, he rocked out. It was really good. And
I love going to shows or concerts when they're on tour,
but they come off a day off. Yeah, sometimes they
tour and they'll play like five straight days before they
get a break. This is one in Charlotte that they
think they had a show in like Savannah or something.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
They had a show in Saint Augustine on Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yeah, and then they didn't do a show on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Perfect for them to just stop in Charleston on Thursday.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
But you know, I know I was gonna DM the
band and say Hey.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Guys, can you totally listened to you?
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Can you do me a solid and instead of going
from Saint Augustine to Charlotte and skipping over Charleston, which
we have great venue music venues here, can you just
like do a pop up show here for me so
I don't have to drive to Charlotte. Don't think it
would have been received very well, but anyways, anyways, they've
been to Charleston before, we've seen him in Charleston. Yeah, yeah,
but it was a great show. But it feels going
to be back in the studio. I'm a little on
(02:27):
the weather. I'm gonna do my best here where I
don't sound too under the weather. But we are got
my caffeine flowing. We're gonna pound through this one. But
I'm feeling feeling good outside of just a little little
funk I caught in the flight last week.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Yes, Now, we thought we would be doing our full
review of Sugar Beach, but that's going to be a
few podcasts from now because we still need to have
time together all of our thoughts and you know, put
that all down. But we wanted to go ahead and
give you a quick preview of our next trip. That
we leave for in three days.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, which we're doing something. I guess it's a little
different than what we usually do. But anyways, we'll get
to that in just a second. And also, I want
to add to what you just said about the Sugar
Beach podcast. We're going to release that, hopefully it's going
to be next week. The reason we're not doing it
this exact podcast is the YouTube vlog is not quite ready.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
It's almost ready, and we like to we like.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
To drop both at the same time. That way, if
we have a new listener listening to sugar Beach podcast, like, oh,
I really want to go watch their vog, they can
go to the show notes and click the vog and
it goes right to it. And then vice versa. If
you're on the YouTube and you're watching it and you
want more information or deep dive on our feedback and
thoughts on the resort, they can go from the YouTube
channel and click the podcast and so they can go
back and forth. It kind of helps our content, helps
(03:41):
reverberate our content a little bit. So I think I
saw the first edit of the vlog. It's really good. Yeah,
it's about thirty minutes, and so I'm excited just a
few miner tweeks I had for the editor because I
have completely foregone the editing duties because my timing's not
good enough for my boss sitting.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Around across now like for my after we travel, Yeah,
that's not good. We need it out, you know, hopefully
like within a month.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
She just whip it. I'm just shirtless in the editing
just on the computer. She's whipping me like, Okay, let's
get to you.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Let's get to the point of what we're talking about.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Back is scarred. I give up.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Okay. Anyways, so let's tell you guys what we are going.
So we haven't had a whole lot of content on
this destination because we've been here one time and it
was like seven years ago.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Uh so yeah, fresh content. I'm excited about this.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yes, So we are headed to Aruba on Friday, so excited.
We're staying at two different resorts. So we are staying
at Boukoudi and Tara Beach Resort, which is an adults
only resort that is not all inclusive, and then so
we're gonna spend a couple of nights there and then
we're going over to the brand new Secrets Baby beach.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Yeah, so both really hot, popular resorts. It'll be new
for both of us. I think it'll kind of like
renew that discussion of all inclusive versus noll inclusive. Yeah,
because we're going back to back to two really high
end resorts. One does offer and this one, the non
inclusive of the Bukuti resort, doesn't even offer an inclusive package,
so it's just not even an option. So I'm really
(05:16):
excited to contrast the two.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
As I say, they're very different, Yeah, but.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
They're in the same destination. Well yeah, yeah, the research
I've done in the pictures I've seen on Bukuti look awesome,
like it faces the west, the sunset looks beautiful, the
beach incredible. These beaches, I mean, I forgot how beautiful
Aruba beaches are, Like I've been reminded now through this
research going back to Aruba.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Yeah, George is like, oh, I didn't know the beaches
were so good there. I'm like, what do you mean
The beach was amazing when we were there seven years old.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
I know it has been seven years, been like almost
a decade. So for those that don't know, Ruba is
part of the ABC Islands. Popular term for this chain
of islands, it's called the ABC Islands because it's a Ruba,
Bonn Aaron curis all real relatively close to each other,
all very deep South Caribbean, almost in South America. I
think there are certain points you can almost see South America, right,
(06:09):
is it Venezuela you.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Can, yeah, And when we were in Curse Out you
could see Venezuela. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yeah, So you're that far south. A lot of you know,
a couple just high level things that I know about
this beautiful island chain is it's it is known for
their diving. They have fantastic diving. It is what most
people say, outside the hurricane belt, if you will, yep.
So it's not the hurricane belt. So a lot of
people can travel there and generally avoid you know, weather
(06:35):
disruptions from a potential hurricane because it's that far south.
It is you know, we atv the entire island and
it is very rocky like it's it's it is kind
of desert. It is very desert, is but desert with
amazing beaches. And also Aruba specifically is known for their
downtown area with fantastic restaurants, very walkable. This is a
(06:57):
I don't want to call it American Eyes, but you know,
kind of feels that way. I remember going there. We
walked downtown, walk the market. Yeah, a lot of people
walking around and you don't have to worry.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
About It's a safe island.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Yeah to do that. Yeah, it is a lot of
people do that. So anyways, work, I'm excited to go
downtown again, truyt some of the restaurants off the resort. Yeah,
but also really excited to try BOOKOUTI Bookuti is a
funny name too. I got a look up why it's called.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Bookuti, Yeah, that I don't really know. But it has
been rated on trip Advisor, which I always think take
everything you see on trip Advisor with the grain of salt,
but top ten most it's in the top ten most
romantic resorts in the world. Yeah, and it's got five
restaurants on property at one main bar. I read that.
(07:41):
I don't know if this is still the case, but
this from a couple of years ago. I read that
they do a happy hour from like four to five
and then like nine to ten pm I think, or
something like that at the beach bar. So that's kind
of cool.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Oh happy hours plural.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Yeah, So we'll see it. But it's one hundred and
four rooms, so it's very small, boutique style property, sits
on an amazing beach. I am very excited to check
it out.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Oh my gosh. Yeah, I'm very excited. And so I
like the adults only aspect that can be hard to
find in a not all inclusive, So that's good.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Well, first off, let me say just a Aruba in general.
You know, there's only a few all inclusive resorts there. Now,
there are a few that aren't all inclusive that do
offer a package, like there's one right next door to
this that's called Manchibo Beach Resort where they offer a
package you can add on. But generally what I you know,
(08:36):
everybody wants to go out in Aruba and experience the
dining like that's what they're known for is to have
you know, all sorts of great, amazing restaurants, totally safe
isoland and go out on your own. Now secrets. Baby
Beach is at one end of the island, so from
what I know, there's not quite as much like off
resort things in that area. So it'll be really interesting
to compare the two.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah, yeah, I just remember ATV and I remember that
so vivid leagues. We stopped at that little beach bar.
We went. We pretty much circled the entire island. We
did pretty adventurous thing for us to do. I mean,
that was pretty pretty cool. A the ATV tour they
have this. I remember being in this old church that
was almost like at the top of the island. It
was almost like the peak of the island. Yeah, and
(09:17):
you got beautiful views from up there. I mean, it's
a very it's a unique place. It really is. It's
not you don't get there very easily because it's so
far south right, you don't think about it. Like we
were talking about our flight schedule the other day and
I'm like, wait a second, we're getting up at one time.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
We're actually I.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Was thinking Caribbean. We're gonna be there pretty quickly. I'm like, oh,
I was wrong.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Well, if we were going through Miami, it wouldn't be
that bad. But for some reason, we kind of booked
this somewhat last minute, Like we only booked it like
maybe four or five weeks ago. And when we booked it,
the flights on American and Delta, but I like to
we like to fly American just because it's easy and
through Miami and we have status. But the flights on
(09:58):
American were absolutely insane for some reason. And so we're
not even doing like our overnight stay. We are going
to wake up at the crack of dawn on Friday.
I'm not excited about that.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
I love my sleep asleep. I haven't had much sleep
in the last week, so it's been brutal.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yeah, and so we are actually going to be flying
United through Houston, so it's kind of a backwards way
to get there, but whatever. It's Charleston to Houston, Houston there.
Houston to Aruba is four and a half hour flight.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
I could not when you told me that Houston to
Aruba was a four and a half hour flight. That
blew my mind. Yeah, and you go back to geography
class because I was like, that can't be right.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
It's right.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
It's almost a five hour flight from here. I mean,
I'm like, you know, I'm gonna get a lot of
work done. I'll probably figure out way to cure cancer
with AI. You know that that much airplane time. I'm kidding,
I'm kidding, but I'm excited to get there because a
it's been so long since we've been there, b I
love the ABC Island chain. I think it's great.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yeah, it'd be interesting to see how the weather is
because the last time we were down in this area
was curosw about almost three years ago, and it was hot, hot, hot, hot.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Oh my gosh, it was so hot.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
So we'll see. But I know, you know, Aruba is
like an amazing place to visit, especially during the winter times,
like the beaches and the waters are still like warm.
We don't even have to worry about water being chili
like Bahamas. But I do remember curious how being extremely
hot when we were there it was this time three
years ago.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
I think we'll be fine though, We'll chill in the pool,
but uh yeah, beach, yeah's gonna be great. I've got
high expectations. And then let's talk a little bit more
about the stay at Secrets, because this is so Ruba
not that long ago. I feel like there weren't many
good inclusive options.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Remember, there's not any good all inclusive options in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
In your opinion. Yet Now there's options, but yet. Yeah,
so there is on the pen travel scale, not any
we would really recommend. But now now the Secrets is there,
I'm excited to try this, and you know it, it
is a very hyped resort right then. This is like
it's been making headlines about how new this is and
different it is. So we're going to give it a try.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Yeah, yeah, I've seen some pictures of the rooms and
you know, some of the resort, and you know, they
have like cactuses everywhere, and it looks cool. It looks
like it's set back from the beach a little bit.
And then I've been told to like bring like big
yetti cups that you can fill up like at the
(12:27):
resort and walk down with at the beach. So I
don't know if there's beach service yet, but we'll have
a lot more you know info. So it just opened
in June. It was supposed to open in February. But
of course this why i'd never ever book a new
resort when they give the first opening date, because they're
almost always there. It's almost always they it's not gonna happen.
So it opened in June, so we'll be two months
(12:49):
in so we'll see, you know how it is. Generally
I like to give resorts like six to eight months
to work out, you know, some kinks. But we'll see
so I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
Yeah, I am too super excited. I'm less excited about
the super long flight, but I can't wait to get there.
Let's take a quick thirty second break, pay some podcasting bills.
We'll be right back. We're gonna on the second half
of the show. Here, we're going to do a deep
tap on the secret resort. So excited to go through that.
We'll be right back thirty seconds. See in a second.
Are we are back? And now let's jump into a
(13:20):
little secret space beach. We just looked up how far
it is, how far transfer is from Bakudi to baby Beach.
I'm shocked, and how far this is?
Speaker 3 (13:27):
I know, I mean the island. It's a small island,
but it's a little bit bigger than you think. But
it says it's thirty kilometers. It's going to take forty
three minutes.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
So you're giving this to me in kilometers.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
It just says kilometers on here.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Oh, probably because we're looking at a yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Fee, yeah, and it's done.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
So what's that in miles? Like a five k is
what three miles.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Three point two or something like that?
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Yeah, yeah, so that's what So it's like.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Seventy five percent kilometers seventy five percent of a mile
or something.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
My brain is already special. I can't do this map,
but yeah, roughly like, uh uh, what's that.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
The miles miles in nationalized the model.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
I think it's like eighteen miles anyways, but it says, yeah,
forty three minutes from the airport. Secrets Baby Beach is
thirty minutes. It's very far south from everything. It's like
at the most southern tip of the island. It looks
like so. The resort is three hundred and four rooms,
seven dining options. Four of those are all o Kart restaurants,
(14:25):
six bars and lounges.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Swim bars.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Yes, there's a swim u bar.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Oh yeah, I haven't been at a swimming bar in
far too long. I'm over. I can't remember the last
time my butt.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
SATs, I guess Italian.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Oh my, how long ago was that?
Speaker 3 (14:39):
That was at the end of January.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
That's far too long for me.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
I agree.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
My butt is looking for that concrete word concrete still
in the water.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Well, we took like a break from traveling because we
knew we had a lot coming up, and then even
more has been added. But and then we you know,
did Europe, and then we did Sugar Beach, which doesn't
have a swim bar. Yeah, so yeah, here we are.
But yeah, you will get to sit at a swim
up bar.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Yes, I need. I need a nice break. The travel
we've had lately, it's been great, but we've been Busy's
been a lot of busy travel.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Last Yearrope trip was very busy. Yeah, virgin was okay,
we'll call it wasn't the most relaxing trip we've been on.
So we needed a vacation from that vacation when we got.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Back, and then we and we had that at Sugar Beach.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
We did family vacation. Sugar Beach was awesome. I can't
wait to do our deep dive on that. But that
was very, very, very relaxing.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Yes, yeah, and now we got it.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
And the trip schedule in August is you know, we're
gonna we got a lot going on in August. We
probably won't ever have another month like this.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Yeah, George isn't going on one of the things I'm
doing in August, but I'm not going to tell you
what it is yet, But I'm going to be gone
basically three weeks in August, and I can't.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
I mean, I'm the CEO of another company, so I
do have other responsibilities as a CEO. So I'm just
busy guy. Yes, yeah, on vacation.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Well I'm excited though. It's I'm going to be living
out of suitcase for the next month.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Yeah, yeah, you are. You're going to be busy bee, yeah,
busy be all right, all right, let's talk about this.
Let's talk about this Secret resort.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Well, I mean I just gave some quick facts about it.
I mean that's all I really know. I haven't had
anybody stay here yet.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Really, so we'll be the first out of Well yeah,
I guess that makes sense. Open what June.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Right, Yeah, I have some clients booked later this year.
They know I'm going in a few weeks, so they're eager,
or not a few weeks. They know I'm going, and
so they're eager to you hear the feedback on it.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
But yeah, so when I think about this resort, I
think about, like, you know, Sandals calls it Sandals two
point zero. I think Secrets has kind of gone through
that evolution as well, because their newer resorts are a
lot different than their older resorts. So I'm expecting the newer,
more modern Secrets five, the new dining concepts. I like,
(16:59):
like now, I know, the last secutorsh we stayed at
was the upgraded resort. It was the what do they
call it, the Impression Impression. Yes, this isn't going to
be a Impression level because Impression is their elite tier,
which is distinguished for their level probably level of service,
food quality, room quality, all that go jets. So it's
not going to be quite that, but it's going to
be at the top end of their Secrets brand. So
(17:20):
excited to check this thing out. You know. Yes, I'm
expecting kind of modern Caribbean. I'm expecting, you know, a
lot of the recess lighting, you know, not that traditional feel.
You're going to get more modern vibe. I'm expecting new
dining concepts. I'm excited.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
I don't know about that, but we'll see.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Okay, here's a question for you and you might not know,
and that's okay cause we you know, no one's gone
here yet. Is do they have a sports bar? Secrets
have been doing that, hopefully maybe they have a sports bar.
Will check that out.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Yeah, I haven't even looked at the fact sheet, so
I don't know, so we will tell you guys when
we get there. But I do want to say that
they do have some grand opening offers right now. Like
I just booked some clients for literally Christmas week, so
they're going December twenty sixth to the thirty first, and
(18:06):
I mean that week is already like that's a very
expensive week to travel, Okay, it's the most expensive week
of the year to travel.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Break that down for people, because you get asked all
the time. No one travels on Christmas, so you got
to get.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
A good deal, right, Well, everybody wants to travel over
Christmas in New Year's because you know a lot of
people are off work. You know that last week of
the year. Some people want to get away from family.
So you know, there's it's a very very busy week
for travel. But Secrets Baby Beach had an opening offer
(18:37):
and for a Aruba like this was an amazing price
in my opinion, with airfare and not just like the
least expensive room. It was for five nights, the twenty
six to the thirty first, sixty six hundred bucks.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Holy smokes, that's good.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
For two people.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
And that's without flights, right, No, that's with flights from Philly.
Oh wow, okay, wow, Yeah, that's incredible. So they're trying
to get people into the new resort, right they want
to get it full. They obviously had the opening delayed,
so that probably threw off booking. So we got to
get deal to take advantage of it.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Yes, yeah, so I think that's a great price. But
you know, just go into it. I mean, by December,
I think it will be fine. But you know, if
you wanted to take advantage of, you know, some of
their opening offers that they have, I haven't seen them
for next year, Like it's the offers are for this year.
Travel just go into it with an open mind to
know that they're still probably going to have some kinks
(19:31):
sork out Yeah yeah, okay.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Let me ask you is what kind of travelers would
so when you describe a Ruba to people exploring, you know,
a Ruba as an option out, you know, what do
you tell people? Like, what do you when you say, hey,
I recommend Ruba for these types of travelers, what would
you say?
Speaker 3 (19:46):
I mean I think that it's you know, it's for
everyone but foodies. I was gonna say foodies. People who
are you know, looking for Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
I got one. I think like people that want a
unique destination that isn't well traveled, like Aruba is popular,
like people know about it, but like it's not like
a Jamaica or Kancun. It's in that second tier of
just kind of what I don't know the word I'm
looking for, just kind of hidden, like a little hidden gem.
But it's not hidden, but it's like it's not quite
(20:19):
as obscure as like, you know, maybe some really small
remote islands. But because it's part of the ABC Island Chains,
its regular.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
But everybody wants to go to I feel like, but
it's different, Yeah, because it's very different than your typical
you know, Puntacana, Mexico to makeup, but again you are
going to be paying more for the destination because it
just is a more expensive destination to travel to. I
think it's great, a great place to travel, especially in
the winter months because like I said earlier, it's still.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Very warm there to the equator.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
You're yeah, like you're the water is going to be warm,
the ocean's finding it into you don't worry about it
being cold, like if you were in the Bahamas.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
It's good diving, right like and that whole that whole
area is. I mean, I know that Curosell in bon Air.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Yeah, I was gonna say, I know Bonnair and Curresel
have really good diving. I would assume that, uh, we're
not scuba divers, but I would assume that Aruba has
pretty decent diving. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Yeah, we're gonna what's cool about this is like we're
gonna learn a lot, Like we've only been in this
resort or we've a been to the island one time. Yeah,
And the things that stick out to me are the food,
how walkable it is, how friendly people were. People were
very friendly. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
I think it's called one Happy Island is their slogan.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
Yeah. So I mean that there's there's that island vibe.
And I do feel like you're pretty remote. You're just
so far away from the United States.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
I think it got raided recently. Somebody was I think
my mom was telling me they got raided as like
one of the safest places to travel to in the Caribbean.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
That was either Cure Sour or Ruba.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
I yeah, so one of those.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
And we use the term like everyone people way say
is it safe? Is it safe? Is safe? Safe is
a personal term?
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Yes, I don't know if you're gonna feel safe. I
mean there I been to many places all over the
Caribbean and Mexico and never had any issues.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
But you know, safety is a personal thing. Like I
hate when people say does is it safe? Is it safe?
Because like what one person thinks is safe, Like some
people live in a bubble. Some people don't even want
to cross the street because they're wor they' going to
get hit by a bus. They're worried about everything. What
is all the worry worts or yeah, so and then
you have some people that live more of like, hey,
I'm a little laid back and not worried about it.
So like safe, the range of safety is like so
(22:29):
wide that you we if what one person feels is
quote unquote safe, another person would be terrified. Like I
don't like skydiving. I don't think it's safe. Right are
you talking to skydiving experts? They're like I Scott have
all the time, it's completely safe. Like I don't think
it's safe. I don't care. I'm not going to go.
Same thing for travel and so like, but for what
we feel safe, we feel comfortable walking the streets in Aruba,
(22:50):
going to the restaurants, but that's us.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Yeah, and I and I will say like this, these
islands ABC Islands, but we'll specifically talk about Ruber right now.
But I don't want to say it's like more Americanized,
but it you know, it feels that way, especially when
you compare it to like Saint Lucia, Jamaica, just in
how the locals live is it's a little more developed.
(23:15):
It's more developed, and so it's different in that way.
So I'll just describe it like that.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Yeah, and I. You know, the ABC Islands have a
benefit to them because they are somewhat of a corridor
in between South America, which does export a lot of goods.
People don't realize South America has a lot of exports
and the rest of the Caribbean. So there's a lot
of there. There's some heavy shipping lanes that have happened
through there. So curosw is known for being kind of
(23:43):
the fuel tanker hub the rest of the Caribbean. So
a lot of fuel tankers come from South America where
they drill for fuel and they take the big tanks
to Curesow, divide them up into smaller tankers and then
those service the surrounding islands of the Caribbean. So they
do have kind of an economic advantage in that, so
a little more robust economy. But what's interesting about it is,
(24:06):
I would say out of the other islands, the travel
aspect of that is probably a little bit smaller than Jamaica, Bahamas,
some of these more popular islands. So you're getting a
little more of a you know, a little little you know,
an unknown I don't say no, not ki use that word.
It's like less traveled. It's like a yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
I mean, okay, I'm about to look up how many
people traveled there.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Well, let's look it up. I think it's going to
rank lower than obviously Jamaica, definitely, Puntacana, definitely Cantcoon. So
it's going to rank lower in that It's smaller though too.
But I feel like it's.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Just yeah, one point four million people visited Aruba last year.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Yeah, so it's it's not as according.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
To the AI overview on Google.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Yeah, so Google Gemini and I don't know, it's just
like I don't know the word I'm looking for. It's
just a little more of a hidden gen less traveled,
you know.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
I agree.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
So, but I'm excited to try to now, but now
that there's a Secrets there, big brand coming there planting
their feet, yeah, that you're going to get more travelers
there now.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Yeah, and then we'll have a renewed debate on all
inclusive or not all inclusive, because we're doing both there.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
So I'm excited.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
I'm excited, But I think that sums up the show
or you Oh, no, question of the day.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
We got to have a question of the day. Okay,
here we go. What's a trend or slang phrase that
instantly makes you feel old now? Specifically, like things that
maybe be early twenty year olds or teenagers or even
adolescent kids are saying. So we spend time with family recently, We've.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Spent a lot of time with family recently.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
And nieces and nephews were using all sorts of slang
that I didn't hear, like the riz no.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Cap, I'm just saying.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
Mid mid oh. Yeah, they call everyone bruh yeah like
that bruh old yeah. Like I'm just like, it's like
a whole new language. Slay queen, slay queen. That's a
popular one that the nieces were saying. I'm like, slay queen. Yeah,
what does that even mean?
Speaker 3 (26:01):
Yeah, but I mean I'm sure we had all that,
yeah growing up. I don't can't think of anything right now.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
I don't think so. I think we use the word
cool awesome. Yeah, Like it's like I can think. The
Internet has kind of expanded this new almost language that
the kids are using.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
Yeah, they were saying riz. I was like, I don't
I still don't even know what that is.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
It took me a while to figure out RIZ.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
So they actually did it, but I've already forgot. I
don't remember googled riz.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
I had Google ris. I'm like, okay, what does RIZ mean? Like,
I literally that was one I could figure out. Bruh,
Like there's like it's a play out bro. I could
figure like, no, cap, I had to look up mid.
I'm like, I guess mid means average, like in the middle.
So something's mid, Okay, I guess that means it's not good,
it's just average anyways. So RIZ is a playoff the
(26:48):
word charisma, so charismatic or charisma. They just shortened it.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
So if you say you have RIZ, then that means.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Charismatic or yeah, you got it, exude charisma. So that's
where they just took riz out. I guess, you.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Know, hanging out.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
I guess too. It's too long to say or charismatics
too long to say. So they say, you got the RIZ.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
Hanging out with ten year olds. This is actually quite funny,
just because I just think that that's a funny age.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
It is a funny age. Like they're they'll communicate with you,
they talk to you, they'll they have opinions on things.
They have opinions, strong opinions sometimes.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Yeah, so it's just yeah, it's it's funny.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Yeah. So but the RIZ thing, Yeah, I would say
all of it. And then I look back. Okay, when
we were teenagers, what were we saying? I don't think
we had We didn't like paraphrase things, right, you know.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
I don't remember doing that. Yeah, yeah, what.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Do they call these things? Parenthetics? I don't like, we
don't we didn't use this. I have no idea, Like
we didn't use like these this alternative language. Now, maybe
we had cool, which was probably in the dictionary. Awesome,
probably in the dictionary. Yeah, Like I don't think we
twisted words like the kids do these day. But like
I'm learning that there's so many moms out there that
say I am not mom anymore. I'm bruh. Yeah, I'm like, oh,
(28:07):
that's not cool. I always called my mom mom.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Yeah, no, I was calling her parents. She said brh
to them.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
I mean, I feel like our generation if we called
our mom bruh kind have been getting Yeah, I'm getting popped. Yeah,
I agree, bruh. My mom would be like, who do you?
Who are you calling brah? Yeah? I don't even know
what that means. But I'm not your bro. Yeah, I'm
your mom, and I'm going to reiterate that.
