(01:09):
be travel Tip Thursday. Actually I don't know if we're
gonna get it out today, travel Tip Thursday, we'll call it,
and what do you got for us today? Because I
think this applies to almost everyone traveling internationally or maybe
even domestically.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, I'm gonna relate this to domestic travel as well.
So we're going to kind of tell you, like the
top three things that you should do before your next flight,
and it iss flight if you're flying somewhere specifically.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
And I guarantee you you haven't done any of these,
or maybe just one of them, but a lot of
these things, even for season travelers, these are things that
you probably don't think of that in a pinch, can greatly, greatly,
greatly help you.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yes, yeah, So the first one is, if you are
traveling internationally, take a picture of your passport and either
have that on your phone or have a printed copy. Now,
if you're traveling domestically, take a picture of your driver's license.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yes, and when we say picture of your passport, we
don't mean a picture of the front of the passport. Yeah, no,
like blue coloring, an actual picture of your photo, your
passport information and everything. So in the event you lose it,
you have it to reference. And it's very very important
that you do that, the physical hard copy, especially when
you're traveling. You're you're out of your routine, you're doing
(02:27):
new things, you're not at home where you usually you know,
have safe places, but things, you can easily lose things,
and having that picture can be a saving grace for you,
especially when you're an international destination or even domestically and
you have a picture of a driver's license. Obviously, you
may don't want to keep these photos on your phone
for very long, so just do it for when you're traveling.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
And then when you get saved once on my phone.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
But yeah, but you don't want to lose your phone,
then have that. So anyways, go ahead and delete those
when you get back for safety reasons. But while you're traveling,
certainly certainly have those. I think these are things that
probably the average traveler is not doing.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah, and so why because I'm going to give you
two instances on things stories that I have heard from
people in how this helped them. So one when I
was coming back from Tahiti seven years ago, one of
the ladies on the trip, she lost her passport on
the plane. So I don't know if she lost it
(03:21):
or if it got stolen when she got up. She
thinks it got stolen when she got up. But so
when she landed in LA and had to go through
immigration customs, she did not have her passport, but she
had a picture of it on her phone, and you know,
after some you know, talking with the immigration person, they
did let her through.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Without any issue.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
No, I can't guarantee that's always going to happen, but
that's just an example. And that way too, you have
like your passport number, God forbid if you needed to
go to the embassy somewhere. It's just a good thing.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
To have now.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
And this is a simple free thing you can do
that takes one second, that can save your butt.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yes, now, our neighbor, I remember a couple of years ago,
he lost his driver's license and when he was coming
back from Miami or something, and then showed the airport
agent a picture of it, and then they didn't let
him through again. I don't know if that will it's
not always happening, but it could possibly save you, so
(04:21):
I would definitely recommend it.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yeah, it's just a quick little fallback that you have,
and again, not guarantee that's always gonna work, but I'm
telling you it's better than having nothing. Yeah, that is
way better to having nothing. It takes one second to do,
and it's free. And we've all been there where you
lose something. I lose stuff and I travel all the time.
I lose my sunglasses, I knock on what. I haven't
lost anything important yet, but I'm sure it's gonna happen. Yeah,
(04:42):
I'm gonna lose a passport. I'm gonna lose a driver's license,
I'm gonna lose some form of ID, and I'm gonna
be somewhere where I need it. And when you think
about it, most people are good about tracking their phone. Yeah,
and I've lost my phone before too, But the phone
is like something so personal that you know you don't
really lose, but like the physic copy of your ID
or a physical copy of your passport, that is something
(05:06):
you're not used to carrying around with you, and especially
when you're traveling, can be easily lost. You've forgotten, and
as good of a traveler as you are, we have
a story where you even forgot to bring your passport
all together.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Oh yeah, and I've also Yes, I did when I
was flying out of Atlanta and we had already driven
like two and a half hours to Atlanta, and I
realized I left my passport at home. Never done that again, Uh.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Hobby, Being the great hobby I was, I didn't. I
wasn't upset at all. I said, things happen. I turned
around because I was driving, drove all the way back
home two and a half hours, and then turned right
back around.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, so it should have been Yeah, like a four
hour ride to Atlanta turned out to be like seven.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
So that kind of sucks.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
We had a nice date night planned to in Atlanta.
I kind of ruined that date, I.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Know, but it's okay.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
But another time that I left my wallet and our
passports in the safe at the hotel in amsterre yep.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Oh and and we got to.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
The airport and realized that I didn't have any of that.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
And shout out to that driver and he drove all
the way back.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
No, he sent somebody else from his company to the hotel.
They called the hotel, they got it out the safe
and yeah, then they brought it to us.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
But this random guy we've never met, really nice guy,
he owned the company, and he goes, I got a driver,
I will call and have him pick it up and
bring it to you. And we were like, no way,
Like we just thought that, I.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Know, I thought like the rest of our trip was
going to be ruined because then we were flying from
there to Bordeaux.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Oh yeah, but anyways, so even the cribbing queen herself,
everybody makes mistakes.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Yeah, but definitely take pictures of passports or IDs if
you are flying somewhere.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Now.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
To follow that theme, also take a picture of your luggage,
whether it is a checked bag or a carry on bag,
take a picture of it. And the reason I say
that is because if the airline loses your bag, if
it's checked, you have a picture of it with the
exact description and everything.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Yeah, it's much easier for them to find.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
It's much easier for them to find it. Same thing
with a carry on sometimes you have people who grab
the wrong carry on bag, you know, out from the
overhead bin. So have a picture of it. That will
save you do.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
You recommend the AirTag thing. A lot of people are
doing the air tech thing. We throw an air tag
in there, it doesn't hurt at all.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
I mean, yeah, I was gonna say, it's not gonna hurt.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
So we got to get Amazon Store. You can buy
your air tag, get all that stuff. Yes, yeah, And
you're looking at me like that's my problem.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Well, yeah, I've been asking you for that for.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Okay, I'm I will commit. I will get the Amazon
Store up in operational. Give me sixty days.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Now I'm gonna add in one more tip before we
go to the other one that we have not discussed,
just in the theme of taking pictures. Take a picture
of where you park at the airport if you do, yeah,
because I.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Mean I have no problem remembering that, but you're always like,
got to take a picture, and like I'll remember.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Because one time I did not take a picture. This
was in the long term lot at the Charlotte Airport
and I had absolutely no idea where we parked when
we got back, and uh, it took thirty minutes to
find a car, so brutal. Yeah, So take a picture
of like whatever the row it is. You know, they're
usually like lettered and number. So I always do that now,
(08:14):
just because you know, by the time when you're on vacation,
like you're having fun, you're enjoying all this stuff's going
on and happening, and you don't you might.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Forget where you parked.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
On one other tip, and then, last, but not least,
pack a small carry on bag, even if you are
checking a bag, Pack a small carry on bag with
all of your essentials, and at least, you know, a
change of clothes and a swimsuit if you're going tropical,
but just something just in case the airline loses your luggage.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Yeah, especially medicine obviously. Put you don't ever let your
key stuff go in a carry on bag. Put medicine.
And then I love the tip of bringing at least
one fresh set of clothes just in the event that
your luggage gets lost. You have at least something to
change into the next day while you're trying to figure
out where in the world is my luggage. And I
feel like, listen, anecdotal, this isn't I don't have no
(09:02):
data to support this. I feel like lugers are getting
lost a little bit more than they used to. Could
be wrong. I just I don't know. I mean the
airlines or they're always losing.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
We only do carry ons now, we've been doing that
for three years now, but I mean even before that,
our luggage got lost a few times. So if you
can go carry on only, I would highly recommend it.
It would just make your life easier. But I totally
understand how for some it's not doable, especially if you're
traveling with kids. That makes it even more difficult. So
(09:32):
totally understand. But if you can do it, it can
be very freeing.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
You carry on kings and queens over here. All right,
