Conocidos también como los "vampiros de la grasa", es una de las más aterradoras y macabras tradiciones de la Cordillera de los Andes en Perú. Estos seres, descritos como hombres blancos, altos y a menudo con barbas canosas, se dice que acechan a los viajeros solitarios después del anochecer. Según el mito, los Pishtacos decapitan a sus víctimas y extraen la grasa de sus cuerpos para venderla en el mercado negro. Esta aterradora figura tiene sus raíces en los primeros contactos traumáticos entre los indígenas y los conquistadores españoles, quienes supuestamente practicaban la extracción de grasa de los cadáveres para diversos usos.
