Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is a special edition of Late Night Health. I'm
Mark Allen. Fantasy football is just around the corner and
everybody gets very excited about that. And during that time
during fantasy football, people get very uptight and they start
grinding their teeth. We're going to find out how not
(00:22):
to grind your teeth with our guest who is a
former Falcon and let's see we've got all kinds of
things with him. He is well. His name is Ob Mouhley,
and he's here to share some tips on managing stress.
(00:45):
He's also the co host of The Belief in Falcon's
podcast and was a network analyst. Welcome, Ob, how are you.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I'm good, Mark, thanks for having me on our pleasure.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Let's talk about the stress of fantasy football. Because I
want to beat my brother in law.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Right, yes, so, I mean it's good Mark to have goals,
and beating family members is always one of my goals.
I have a brother and a brother in law and
I want to be all of them. But it's really
important to understand why you even prepare for the fantasy
football season. And I have played actual football. I played
reality football. It was a blast.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I'll tell you.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
I played with Ray Lewis, Dion Sanders, Tony Gonzalez.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Hall of Famer after Hall of famer played with and
against him.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
And one thing that they all had in common was
as great as they were, they understood the power of preparation.
So that's why I'm helping fans prepare for something they
may not expect. And that's how fantasy football stress can
hit harder than a linebacker. That's why I partnered with
Dentech for the Ultimate Fantasy Football Punishment campaign, giving players
ways to protect their smile from all the stress in
(02:00):
nighttime teeth grinding that come with a season.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
What happens, you know, on the field when you were playing, yeah,
nine years, you played for nine years. Yep, you were
really punished.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
I know, Yep.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I was punishing people, and I took a little bit
punished myself.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
My first year, I'll tell you Mark, my first year
in the.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
NFL, I was a All acc All American, top ranked
fullback that went to Baltimore. Baltimore had just won their
first Super Bowl in two thousand and two, I believe,
and they had a all world defense from Peter Bulwer
and Mark Scott Adelius Thomas. Of course, the Ray Lewis,
(02:43):
that Chris McAllister, you know, Dion Sanders came into it.
They were the best of the best, and I was
their practice dummy.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
I was a tackling dummy.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
And so the stress that came and the punishment that
I took as a practice practice squad, as a scout team,
Sorry scout team guy, it was rough. So I learned
really fast how to take punishment. But I started giving
it out a little later.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Do in fantasy football do you think that a lot
of players, uh take it too seriously? I mean, they
really go for it and and it becomes, you know,
the most important part of their life. And the the
(03:28):
the stress that they cause on their mouth because they're
they're they're clenched, Okay, is just too much?
Speaker 3 (03:38):
No, Yeah, you're absolutely right, Mark, I mean you took
the words out of my mouth. People who play this game,
they forget it's just that it's a game. It's something
supposed to have fun with. And I really feel like
if they understood ways to have fun, Like the way
that the Dentech's doing their Ultimate Fantasy Football Punishment campaign,
(03:58):
they really calmed down a bit. Because this campaign is
all about tackling the job punishing stress of the season
with their top rated nighttime demo guards. These guards defend
against teeth grinding, but Dentik also adds a playful element
to the stack crunching lineup tweaking pressure cooker that is
fantasy football. And they've done it by having the contest
where the last place finisher in your fantasy league has
(04:21):
a chance to win an epic, over the top history
making celebration of their loss with NFL legends like Tiki
Barber and Austin Eckler. So to survey it up, summarize
it up, you win by losing because when you lose
in your fantasy league, you get a chance to hang
out with some NFL guy.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
So that's a contest that I can get behind.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yeah, but all right, so picking which team, which player,
all that stuff with the fantasy football what's the best
way of going about finding the best team for you?
Speaker 2 (04:59):
And so for me, you got to do your research first.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
But as long as you keep it fun and lighthearted
and you're working or playing, you have contests like the
Ultimate Fantasy Football punishment Contest.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
I say, just draft depth and defensive line.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Don't overlook your bench, find consistent performers, not just the
flashy names. And always mark, I mean, always know your
league's scoring system.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Most people are.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
In two five twenty eight fantasy leagues and they're all
scored different ways. And I've seen and heard some horror
stories of people who didn't realize so halfway through the
season that the way they're scoring their current players is
not the way that their league is scoring the players,
and they ended up being behind the eight ball.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
But end of the day, if.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
You play smart, stay steady, your team will grind out
wins without grinding your team.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
One of the things that you said is to make
it have fun.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
And I said earlier that a lot of people take
this so serious.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Oh yeah, right, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
And if they lightened up a little bit, would that
be better for their teeth.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, it'd be better for their teeth and better for
their their oral health as a whole. Because fans don't
realize it, but the fantasy football stress it shows up
in your mouth. And you know, people use their mouths
for a lot of things, and you want a healthy mouth.
The rivalries, the close calls, the last minute trades, Oh,
the last minute trades. Not a friend who talked about
he had to do trades in church, So he was
(06:32):
sitting there on his phone doing some last minute trades.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Because you know, Sunday is football day, but it's also
God's Day.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
And he's out here making all these phone calls and
text and his wife's like, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (06:43):
But those trades they cause teeth clenching, teeth.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Grinding, and that's where Dentec's nighttime dental guards really come
in to save the day. They're designed to protect your
teeth while letting you focus on game day glory. Using
quality dental guards like Dentech Professional Fit or their Comfort
Fit models can really help because they're VPA free, super comfortable.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
And come with a six month guarantee.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
One of the things you said is it reminds me
of being in services and having transistor radios and listening
to ballgames all right? In in services, do you advise
not to do that. We don't use transistor radios anymore,
(07:26):
but we can still use, you know, our iPhones and
to listen. You know, being in the services is a
great way of relaxing.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Yes, absolutely, And I I tell people it's different for everybody.
Everyone has their own way of relaxing, their own way
of kind of dissipating the stress, whether it's an adult beverage,
whether it's a massage or chipractor, whether it's.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Just you know, I have a dog.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
I have a gold noodle named Asher, and he is
a man to just destress me. I know there are
some dog people listening and they know exactly what I mean.
I'll come in after a long day, go to the house,
and before I even get there, my dog like senses
my presence, and so he'll be at my door, hands
up like he's a human about to open the door,
(08:18):
and just seeing him smile hit my body. It melts away.
And So if you can find that same type of
feeling by having a night guard that can deal with
the teeth grinding and the teeth clenching, I feel like
that's something you should incorporate into your life because Mark
you understand any way, as you get older, the small things,
(08:41):
the details, any ways to get better is something you
should do because it all adds.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Up getting older. I understand who's your favorite pick this year?
Speaker 2 (08:52):
So many great guys and being an offensive guy.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Love the offensive powerhouses like Josh Allen and Lamar Jacks
and fellow Baltimore Raven Jamar Chase.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
But I'm a running back.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
So when Christian McCaffrey shows up, I get excited. When
Saquon Barkley shows up, I get excited. But when my
man fellow Falcon, Bjeon Robinson walks into that fantasy door,
I'm like, now it's time to party. Because Bijon Robinson
has a different skills set. The man has tricks and
(09:24):
skills and ways to stop on a dime that people
just can't do. Even Saquon Barkley said, Bjeon is a
generational talent. So if you can get you a Bijon
in this fantasy world, get you a bijon.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
One other way of distressing would be singing. You're a singer.
You sing in your church choir. Du yeah, so when
does the album come out?
Speaker 2 (09:48):
You know what? I ran into somebody.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
He's actually in my Bible study group and he has
an album, and he was like, oh, be like, you
don't have to be perfect, even really good. You just
have to be able to hold a tune. I can
hold a tune decently, but I just never thought about
putting an album, a gospel album together. Like I enjoy
singing my choir. I have a couple of solos I've done.
(10:11):
I was in the NFL Gospel Choir for five six years.
But but no, I might actually, you know, when things
calm down a little bit, I might put something together
because I just enjoy the medium of music.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
It's such a beautiful thing.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
It really is. Listen. If you want information, you can
go to the following website and I wrote it here
nice and big for me. Dentech dot com slash Ultimate Punishment.
That's Dentech dot com Ultimate Punishment, and I'll buy the
(10:44):
first album I love.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
It might be the only album bought, but uh yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Dentek dot com board slash Ultimate Punishment will give you
all the detail on the Fantasy Guards campaign, as well
as how to enter the Ultimate Fantasy Football Punishment contest,
which is something you got to just trust me enter in.
It's a win for losing and it's a great deal
for everybody involved.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Ob thank you very much for your time. I appreciate it.
I'm Mark Allen and this is Late Night Help
