Late Night with Jerry was Love Worldwide and the beautiful
Kelly Holland right here in the beautiful Chums city bout tomorrow.
What's up, family, hope? Anybody doing well? Man? This week
flew by fast man. I guess maybe because I was
(01:02):
watching too much YouTube. A lot of stuff going on
out there, y'all. Let's get getting interesting, really interesting. I
tell people, man, you gotta be careful with carma. You
just can't be putting some bad stuff out there because
it will come back hard, like triple times bad. So
put out the nice stuff, y'all. You know, put out
that level. Just talking to my neighbor, he said, Man,
(01:23):
you gotta put that love out there. Man, I said,
tell me, man, you gotta do it all right. You
gotta do the right thing, do the right thing for people. Man,
that's what we're here to help each other. Man. And
speaking of helping people, Kelly Holland, she helped so many people.
And then also we got a very special guests being
known this guy for a minute. I mean, I'm talking
(01:44):
about maybe twelve years. I think I've been knowing doctor
James L. Patterson. I kne him before he became a doctor. Yeah,
I haven't known him. I think thirteen twelve thirteen years. Man,
time fly by. All right, wait ayway, let's talk to
Kelly Holland real quick. See what's going on in her world?
What's going on Kelly Holland, what's going on? What's going on?
Speaker 5 (02:06):
Hey, hey Batman, Hey Baltimore, what's going on?
Speaker 6 (02:10):
Worldwide?
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Everybody? I think everybody doing good. Kelly's been It's been
getting interesting out there in the universe.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Yes, it is.
Speaker 6 (02:25):
It's too much to keep up with.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
See.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
That's when they start praying at the same time.
Speaker 6 (02:31):
Well, lord, let us keep praying at the thing.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, man, I don't I don't think it's no worse
than this one.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
I pray not because it seems like, you know, when
a company kind of merges or acquires rather acquires your job,
but they let you stay on. But their system it's
always different. You always got to learn their system, and
sometimes their system.
Speaker 6 (02:58):
Is four decades behind.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
I think that's that's that's my analogy for this current situation.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
You know, I just know you just gotta be nice
to people, man. And you know, especially when when they
travel in packs, you can't be messing with them like that.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
You know, watch out for those packs and those ticky
tortures and all of the other threatening behaviors.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
It's funny.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
I was talking to this guy yesterday and man, I
wish you could see. I wish I had a picture
of him. Should have took her selfie of me. He
looked just like the Black Panther. And it was funny
because I've been doing him for a few years now.
But he grew his hair out a little bit. I said, dude,
you look like the Black Panther.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Yeah, it was funny.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
It was funny because he said, man, people be telling
me that since you know, since he grew his hair out,
and anyway, we were saying, So what we're saying is
he had a nice suit on. Everything, looked like a superhero.
You know what I'm saying. Look, Yeah, I'm like, I
haven't seen him in a minute. You know, I'm actually
working for him, but I haven't seen him in a
two year, is right. So anyway, he said he came
(04:02):
to see me and everything and and he he said, man,
he said, you know what, brothers are ready for this
kind of stuff. I said, I know, man, because I
went to school for engineering, and I saw how people
was getting laid off. As they were black engineers. They
would always be the ones to get laid They won't
even be there a special project and they lay them off.
I said, hey, I'm not going to be an engineer.
And my son actually switched his major too, you know,
(04:23):
for communications. And then I said, but people scared, people
not coming to work, they sick, having heart attacks. He said,
but the brother is doing okay though, walking with sway.
Speaker 6 (04:39):
One of those on the other side of things.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Used to this stuff. You know, we used to hanging
by thread and got it. And still, you know, after
being the best on the job, you still hanging by thread.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
You know.
Speaker 6 (04:51):
It has it's like that.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
Sometimes we're just overly dedicated and then you can vote
for somebody and the next day, you know, they fire you.
Speaker 6 (04:59):
So where's your life?
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Now we just we just always have our plan B
and C. I know Will Smith said, if you got
a plan B in me, you don't belong to believe
in your playing A. That's I'm sorry, Will. My dad
told me to go to colle. I've got two degrees.
But just the case, I can go do a whole
lot of stuff. Just the case playing B and C
is let me shoot this playing B right here and
(05:24):
playing AL. So you know, list.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
We we are grateful for playing B of your life
bat Man before it opens many doors, not just for
uh the talent that represents positive power family, but also
those that come onto our platforms. They always seem to
grow beyond that. Ye believe it's grateful for the launch
(05:48):
that happens.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
You know.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yeah, I'll never forget. One artist called me after you
know he was working with a doctor Bobby Brown for
a minute. I mean, did I say doctor Bib Brown
a little bit? Anyway, he got a nice little deal
and some office came in from Europe and I was like, wow,
then all that came from from that, from the interview
(06:12):
you had with us that you know, got opened the
door for you to go down to Nashville to producing
the awesome music video to being on TV now you know,
being produced by European producer, you know, overseas. Yeah, that's
that's huge, man. So that means you know, that means
tour dates overseas, that's what that stuff.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Then you know what, I went overseas for a concert.
It was very much affordable for great seats and everybody
was such a vibe, you know, So I would do
it again.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah, man, I remember you went. Yeah, I'm gonna do that, bro.
As soon as I get my passport.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
Men, oh you know what, you better you better renew
it with some time, batman.
Speaker 6 (06:55):
Don't be like me.
Speaker 5 (06:57):
But I planned a whole trip for the family, and
the week before we left, some say, just look at
the passports. Next thing, you know, I have to drive
the Buffalo on an emergency appointment about almost six hundred
dollars to get two passports renewed.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
So I know.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
I know that because my son actually was supposed to
be going where they going to Mexico. He was going
somewhere with his girlfriend and her family to go to Mexico.
Right now, yeah, I don't believe the hype.
Speaker 6 (07:29):
Man.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
It's the best place to.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
Another right now, with the current situation we have. You know,
I just don't want to cross the border and be stuck.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Beautiful city. If you if you got stuck, you still
get to go. Anyway, my son had the same situation
and he was actually at the airport when he realized
his passport was expired. Yeah, yep, so he didn't make
the trip anyway, He learned the hallway. Anyway. We got
a great great guests, like A seven known this guy
(08:01):
for many, many many moons and watch him. You know,
you know he shares journey on Facebook. You know when
we could do it, you know, everybody was, you know,
sharing their journey. And you know, he's very successful in music,
not just on his gospel independent side, but also with
the kids. I think they won a lot of awards
with his marching band. So he really connects well with
(08:23):
young people. And he's here to tell Kelly all about
his story. Before I want to say hello before we
conduct this interview. Well, Kelly, doctor Patterson, welcome to Late Night.
What's going on, sir?
Speaker 1 (08:39):
What's up?
Speaker 7 (08:40):
Man?
Speaker 1 (08:43):
It's good to be here, y'all.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Man, you know what I messed up last last year?
You know I was in South Carolina last year. Man
I said, I know it was two people. I know
it was you and and and uh gosh, I can't
think of his name right now. Musician the radio.
Speaker 6 (09:01):
Guy got the visit.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Yeah, I could have got some visits in. But I
think the weather wasn't that great when I when I
got down and hang out with Doctor Vos. Yeah, I
think the weather was jacked up. That's probably why I
stayed in the hotel. Yeah, I want to remember next time,
I because I know Doctor v gonna want me to
come back to Yeah. How far are you from Florence,
South Carolina?
Speaker 1 (09:22):
I'm acting well, you know, I'm actually about thirty minutes away. Oh.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Man, I knew I should have got on my phone.
I was trying to chill them. But I did get
to see Lynton Smith. He one of my good friends too.
We started to staying together. Actually we call him.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Yeah, he's up in Columbia, him and his wife Louise.
Speaker 6 (09:43):
Man.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Yeah, that's that's about That's about twenty thirty minutes away
from my hometown.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Yeah, because he did a round trip because he had
left his car keys and he had to drive back.
It was crazy day, but anyway, I knew it was
some more people I should have been reaching out to,
but I was trying to chill them. You know, you
know how, you know how we used to do the
Spin Awards. Man, you bring yourself out and then you
come back home you talk. I didn't want to feel
like that, you know.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Man.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Well, doctor Patterson is so glad to have you.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Man.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
And look, if you got some videos, man, you gotta
sent it to me. We got a red hot music
video show man in New York.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
You know what I'm gonna work. You know, Actually I
have an older video right but I'm recording my new
single of my video for my new single actually Saturday.
So I have something.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Yeah, yeah, And I think I still have your old stuff.
I think I have the last when you did you
were when you were shoot you was in the neighborhood,
walking through the neighborhood saying, oh.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yeah, I got I got another one after that.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
So I have to send it to you. Yeah, you
can send it to me, man, But look, let me look,
let me get out you you guys.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Way.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
I'm interested in hearing his interviews. See what you've been
up to you with you know, your music and the kids.
So I'm on meet a good show.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Thank you Batman, and thank you for joining us this evening.
Doctor James L. Patsasin, please let our listeners know who
you are and what it is that you do, Sir.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Well James Patterson, James L. Patterson, and I am originally
from Orangeburg, South Carolina, but I currently live in Manning,
South Carolina, which is like thirty forty minutes away from Florence.
And I'm actually a teacher in King Street, South Carolina.
I'm taught music and course and band for over seventeen years,
(11:37):
and I have been in the public school system. I
have taught students. One of my students is BT Sunday
Best First Mail winner Joshua Rogers. And I've also I
have a student, Landing Kennedy, who is currently on American
Idol and some amazing things and so yeah, so I'm
(12:04):
just out here everything inspiring. I've done radio. I used
to do radio for about ten years. I did, I
had some TV stuff I did, and I travel over
seeds and I sung for the Pope in twenty nineteen.
I'm just I'm just grateful that the Lord is keeping
(12:26):
me and I'm able to spread the word of God
and let people know that God is in control.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
Ay Man always and forever, beginning in the end. And
if you're not aware of the father we serve, turn
on your teezy. You know we have some movies up
right now. You know the Chosen is going on. David
just posting up there. You know, learned a little bit
about that scripture.
Speaker 6 (12:50):
Amen.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
So you know when you said you was an educator,
I just had to just stop and smile, because I
too am an educator. And I found myself in that
position because I always wanted to help others. You know,
just just tap back it to be a potential, find
out who you are and be great. Just go be
(13:13):
great like the good little made you to be. Now,
what made you get into the educational system?
Speaker 1 (13:20):
You know what I've always well, first of all, I
always did music. I grew up doing music my whole life.
And I was a singer, you know. First that I
became in middle school, I started playing instruments. And I'll
be honest, I wanted to I really initially wanted to
(13:40):
be a recording artist and singer. Like not even recording artists.
I wanted to be a professional singer. I just wanted
to go out here and sing as a gospel artist.
That's what I wanted to do. I'll be very transparent.
It was when I got to a certain age that
I realized that my voice was not what I thought
(14:01):
everybody else's word. You know, I don't sound like everybody else,
Like why I sound like that, you know, And so
you know, it was doubt, insecurities, all of those things happened,
you know, and so I was like, wait, I'm going
to teach because I don't think I'm good enough to
be out here. And so that's the bad part, right,
(14:23):
It looked bad, right, But once I became a teacher,
I realized number one that I had to be good
at what I'm doing in order to be an effective teacher, right,
and then two that I actually really really love inspiring
and our youth and and and pushing them to doing
great things. And I wanted them to be better than me.
(14:45):
And so that's why I've been there. I've been there
since I haven't.
Speaker 6 (14:48):
Learned and you better than not some benefit, right, Ilia.
We love to help, but we gotta make it make sense.
O gotta work.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Exactly.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
But at the end of the day, listen, is we
love the kids. We always love to kick that special
middle school population. You guys are listening.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Yes, And I taught middle school, Oh my goodness. Out
of those seventeen years, I taught middle school, about thirteen
or fourteen of those years. It's okay.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
It's like once you black thing and all the all
the new things you get to learn as a as
an adult. And that's why why.
Speaker 6 (15:39):
Wow, wow, it's something else.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
But I'm grateful you know that you have that gift
and that the Lord orders your steps in a way
where you could be helpful to the masses. And and
and you're starting in an area where your influence is
planting the seed. And that's how you get people on
these talk shows, excuse me, on these performing shows.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
And doing great in the world.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
And you're matriculating these students to a point where they
have unbeknownst greatness that the Lord has planted in them.
And so you had to be there at that time
of place because you had to do what God says
for you to do, and that's to feed his sheep.
And so I love it. I love it, I love it.
(16:23):
And you know what this is so inspiring? Please let
our listeners know about the music that lives inside of
you and how that's gotten you to audiences of the
Pope or to be in the Recording Academy or gram
nominated expert in this game that you are see. We're
(16:45):
not just coming out of nowhere saying, oh, I could
sing lead me a track down by my CD. No,
so please let us know, like, okay, what did it
take to build the greatness that comes from you?
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Now? Look, you don't call out my grammar thing. I
didn't even say that, but look at that Listen. I'm
telling you it comes from the roots, you know, of
growing up and the spiritual connection that I have with God.
You know, I always tell people it's so important for
(17:21):
you to build a relationship with Him, and it's imperative
that whatever you do that you involve him in that
because He's in control. And so, you know, I would
not be able to do what I do, you know,
like my current song. You know, I've written several songs
and thank God that they have done very well, and
I'm so grateful. But this last song that I wrote
(17:44):
came out of a place where I was in, you know,
going through a lot. I was going through a rough spot.
My dad had just passed. I was in the highlight
of my I mean I was in the top of
my career. My songs were doing well still o Wart
three times Grammy nominated, and all this stuff going on,
(18:07):
and my dad was sick and I was like, oh,
I was his caretaker. I was trying to do that.
I was on a radio tour. I was on tour.
I was going to Italy, I was going to Spain
and Croace. I mean, I'm all over trying to survive,
not knowing how I was going to do it. My
dad ends up passing in December, right during COVID twenty
(18:29):
twenty one, and I'm going and I'm going, like, how
how do I recover from this? How do I you know,
I'm here for my mom. I'm trying to pick up
the pieces. I actually wrote this song during that time. Now,
granted you're saying with wait, you're just releasing it. I
am because because I didn't. It wasn't time, you know,
(18:54):
you write and stuff, And that was a moment and
it was for me actually, because says I believe God.
You know, I didn't write it for y'all, you know,
but I'm grateful.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
You, Okay, Sometimes for me it was for me, you know.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
The song was basically saying James, you can trust and
believe that God has you. You. I know you're in
a place where it doesn't look right, it doesn't look well,
but I want you to trust the process. I want
you to trust that whatever God does, he does well,
and so you can be fine. And so I was
able to do that. And then with all what's going
(19:31):
on in the world, y'all just talked about it. You know,
Oh Lord, you know we gotta pray. You know. I
believe that this song is a standard for that. I
think this is a song that it's a it's a
needed song at this time because it says that you
got to trust and believe that God is in control,
(19:53):
don't worry about whatever all that other stuff going on.
Speaker 6 (19:55):
God got us absolutely in that all times.
Speaker 5 (19:59):
And I love how you took this moment of you
being in your cave and going through highs and lows,
extreme highs and lows, and you wrote this song and
it encouraged you. But the timing of our Father is
so amazing that he said, now go get what helped
you and help the masses.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
I love it, I love it, I love it. I
absolutely love it. And then those COVID creatives, honey, whether
we want we dug deep to find them.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
We were stuck in the house. I'm like, we gonna
get to this. And you know, with everything else was
going on right then this then that, you know, you're like,
oh my goodness, but I believe God.
Speaker 6 (20:48):
Yeah, there we go, There we go?
Speaker 5 (20:50):
And which is the title of your new song that
you have out for us? You know, I believe God.
What how far are you trying to take that mess?
Because you've been all across the globe now past just.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
To okay, y'all was just talking about it too. Okay,
I'm trying to take it all over.
Speaker 6 (21:15):
There we go.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
I'm trying to take it all over because I think
it's a I think it's an important message that could
go for any situation or any time, because we as
a people sometimes, I mean, we forget that we are human, right,
and so we're gonna have feelings. We're gonna have those
normal things that we feel like, well, today's just not
my day. But I want this song to be an encouragement.
(21:38):
It's a fun song and I wanted to be there
to encourage you to know. It starts solve. The song
starts off saying I gotta testify. So that already is
a strong lyric right there. You know what's coming after that?
What's coming after you know, it's a testimony. If your
testimony gonna bless me, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (22:04):
I'm glad.
Speaker 5 (22:05):
It better be important important. Like what platforms have you
introduced the songs?
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Well, it's on it's actually on all digital outlets and
and and so you can find it anywhere YouTube, Spotify,
and Amazon Music. It's on Apple Music, iTunes, all of
those platforms wherever you like your music.
Speaker 6 (22:38):
It's already there.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:41):
Amen, Now what about the process, because you've been in
this game for a good while, what about the process
and how it's changed over the years.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Oh, my goodness, it's it's it's a lot different, you
know because when I first started, and I mean that
man told you we've known each other for a long time,
and back in the day, it was just a lot different.
You know, we were selling physical CDs and you know,
(23:12):
and before that, it wasn't CDs, you know what I'm saying.
And so now we're you know, they were doing CDs
and now they don't make CDs and the car players
in the car anymore, and so everything now is digital.
(23:33):
You can listen in it's from your phone. That phone
is so important. Oh my goodness, they got the phone
doing everything now, you.
Speaker 7 (23:41):
Know, it has so much on it.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
You know, you listen to your music from there, you
watch your social media platforms, you make your phone calls,
you do your homework, you do. It's just you can
do so much on your amen. And so because God
has has and you know, you got to just move
with the times, right and so because of that, you know,
(24:15):
music getting that music out there. Now, it used to
be you download and we could. We're still able to
do that people, but people don't do that no more.
You know, they like to stream. They like to stream.
You know, streaming is in, and so you know that's
now how we've had to push, you know. And of course,
I mean I'm a teacher, so you know I tell
(24:36):
my and my student and my parents, come on, download
doctor Patterson's song.
Speaker 5 (24:43):
Come on, okay, you got a new one out and support.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
That, come on and get you go get your song
right now.
Speaker 6 (24:56):
Okay, Streaming we do that, We get.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
And we just put exactly exactly because you know, you.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
Know, yeah that part you know, I think, yeah, the exploitation.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
But but.
Speaker 5 (25:16):
Okay exactly, exactly exactly, because we don't know when that
moment reaches a person where they just want to give
their life to Chris. You know, I've had people on
the show say I was sitting at the stop sign
and I gave my life to Christ or I didn't
want to go back to these old habits, and so
(25:38):
they made that please you know that bargain and please Lord,
if you.
Speaker 6 (25:41):
Do this for me, I won't do that no more.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
And so I'm just grateful that the music comes in
all different types, all different platforms, very accessible, and you
just got to sit back and say, look at God.
We're spreading his message so wide, so easy, look.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
At you, so you can get it. They can get
it so easily. Now we used to have to get
the CDs and go can you meet me and get you?
And you know you didn't have distribution in the stores.
You right right, I'm at the grocery store. If you
want these, I'm doing signed copies out here. I mean,
(26:23):
you people just don't know. It was a time. You
have to We've grown and I'm so grateful.
Speaker 5 (26:28):
Okay, okay, some of the trenches right story about COVID,
and you were saying how you are doing really great,
and you were getting featured all over the world literally,
and then a time hit you, and it's struck deep.
Sometimes I think about my good days and and especially
(26:51):
while I'm in the midst of a praise to God,
and then I'm like, oh, no, something's coming, Something is coming.
Speaker 6 (27:00):
Have you ever thought that way? And it's so how
do you prepare?
Speaker 1 (27:05):
You know what I've I've always started my life as
a key. And you know everybody has an individual key.
You know, my key is not like your key. I
can't take my key and put it in your house door,
your front door and get in because it's not made
(27:28):
for for your door. And so if you look at
a traditional key, a traditional key has ups and downs,
it has ridges, it has highs and lows. And so
I've kind of painted my life. I mean, I've watched
my life be like that key. You know, in order
for that key to actually fit in that door, that
(27:51):
door hand, or that door knob, it has to go
through those ridges, those ups and downs. That's my life.
So if I don't have loads, what will high steel like,
it won't be high, It'll just be regular, right, And
so when I do go through those moments I wait
(28:12):
for the hide because it has to be one. If
you can't stay there, you gotta get up. And so
I trust and believe that God is taking me through
my course. I'm running my course on this key, and
at the end, when that key goes all the way through,
(28:33):
it's going to open up that door and there'll be
so much that I won't have room enough to receive it.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
As Yeah, okay, And that's how it is, he said,
I trust the process. The Lord tells us. If I
did it before, I'll do it again. I am your father.
I don't think people pay attention to that close bond.
This is your parental bond, this is your creator's bond, okay,
And that's.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Why it's important to build that relationship. And see, sometimes
they don't pay attention because they don't have a true relationship.
You have to have a true relationship with God. It
ain't one of them play play ones. You know. What
I'm saying is because God knows the difference you may
state with someone else, but God knows and he sees
and he knows all, and so it's no need to
(29:22):
be like, Okay, well God, you my friend, and then
you just walk off child or police. No, no, no,
And then for the world you go in the church
and oh, praise him, but then you're really not praising him,
like is he your friend or is he not? You
know what I'm saying. Okay, he my friend, but but
are you his? You know what I'm saying, like, come on,
we gotta really build a relationship or true relationship with
(29:45):
God and he will God and direct your path.
Speaker 5 (29:49):
Ay man, I couldn't sad it any better because that
is more than true, that obedience is something else.
Speaker 6 (29:55):
Lord knows that far.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
He got to put that less aside.
Speaker 5 (30:03):
Oh Jesus, well, how did you feel when you were
on platforms like B E T and TV one and
uh turn a classic television And what's that exposure? Like
how did you deal with your relationship with God being
on such a platform.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
You know what, I never dreamed that I would even
see any of those platforms. I told my story. I
told you my story earlier, Like why sound like you know?
So you know that guy that was like, wait, what
is wrong with my voice? You know you you're not
(30:41):
getting on those platforms arrogantly, And you know, and that's
why I tell people all the time, they said with James,
You've been all around the world and you're still humble.
I didn't think I was gonna be leaving out of
South Carolina, let alone my city, you know, so I won't.
I'm greatful and I'm honored that God chose somebody like
me to be, you know, a representation of Him because
(31:04):
that's what I am. You know my name, you know
my story, but it's aligned with what God gave you
know what I'm saying, And so I wouldn't be here
it had it not been for what He's put me
through and allowed me to go through so that I
could be a blessing to somebody else. And so getting
on those platforms is very important for me to be
a standard of what I know that He has called
(31:26):
me to be because there's so many there's so many
examples of wrong. I don't want to pause, you know, but.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Wrong.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
Yeah. So I mean, who's gonna show right, you know,
so you know who's gonna who's gonna stand you know,
So going on those platforms, I'm let me tell you something.
I'm extremely honored because I never knew that I would
meet the people that I was I was meeting to
be able to do the things that I'm able to do,
(31:59):
and so I'm I'm grateful. I'm just I'm just sitting
there going like, God, thank you, and make sure I
do what you. I pray every time I say God,
you get the glory you do. You do what you
got to do, and I'm just gonna slide through the bag.
Speaker 6 (32:18):
I need you.
Speaker 5 (32:20):
Yeah, okay, here, when they say give it to the Lord,
they mean give it to the Lord. Spend times in
my life where I'm like, Lord, if you don't want
me to do this, you need to stop me, because
I'm I'm about to do it. It's like it's like when
I'm overwhelmed with the pressures of this life and I'm
so grateful that God has granted me with peace from
(32:43):
those type of days.
Speaker 6 (32:45):
You know. But but the next of yourself.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
And the molding of yourself and and and the habits
and and things that you have to crush down so
you can shine light, like the Good Lord has told us.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
But we don't talk about those enough, right We really matter?
Speaker 6 (33:04):
Yeah, they absolutely do matter.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
And I appreciate how you incorporate it into your music
and how you make it relatable. And I also like
the upbeat temples and tempo of your music. I was
listening to some of the songs earlier before the interview,
and I'm.
Speaker 6 (33:20):
Like, oh, this is nice.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
I can get I can get up and praise the
Lord and get my house together and get myself together, right,
you know, I like this and be of good cheer
in the process. Now, is that the point of your music? Well,
you just just enough journey?
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Okay, no, well that too, but no, it is it
inspired by who I am. Hopefully you can tell my
personality is really fun and I love to express that.
I love to express that through my music. I love
to express that. I am a content creator for TikTok
(33:59):
and you go to my page, you just see all
kind of just fun, you know, a line. But I
mean I'm having the time, you know, and I and
I'm wanted the teacher talkers, you know. But I mean
I have a ball, you know, I just have fun.
And I want to express to people that it's okay
(34:19):
to have fun. It's okay to enjoy praising God, it's
okay to enjoy loving on him. And and I want
to express because I've had a lot of dark days.
I'm not gonna you know, bee that one you know
to say that life has been uh what do they
say the life they've been? No, Crystal stare you know,
but I want to But I do want to say
(34:42):
that despite those situations. You know, my good days, I
weigh my bad days. And so I want to express
the people when you when you feeling, when you ain't
feeling your best, turn this on, okay and turn it
all the way up, and turn it all the way up.
Speaker 6 (35:03):
Yeah, that's how it needs to be.
Speaker 5 (35:06):
We have to. We absolutely have to. I'm glad you
came on the show tonight. You know you made time
for us in that busy schedule. Did you do all
your planing?
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Do you know what all I'm done? I told him,
I said, listen, and I'm in school.
Speaker 6 (35:25):
Oh my goodness, we had one you already?
Speaker 1 (35:31):
What else? You exactly? Exactly? Yeah, I said, you know,
I have three degrees already, and I said, you know what,
let me go get a fourth one. I just I
want you know, I'm going back to school to U
for administration and principal.
Speaker 6 (35:50):
And so okay, so we're going to the other side
of education. I know that's right.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Yeah, yeah, I feel like this more. I feel like it.
Speaker 6 (36:02):
And you could do much more from that possession.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
But I'm grateful that you were able to set your
feet and build up these students and all along they're
learning more and more about our father, you know. And
so that's what it's about for me. How he charged
his disciples to go out and spread his word, and
how the love of Christianity was able to spread so far,
(36:26):
and now we got all types of ways to reach
out to people, and the way that the order is
created for us to just kind of fall in suit.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
I'm just I'm in love with it.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
I'm in love with my safety, and I appreciate it, Amen.
I appreciate how he communicates with me.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
Crazy example.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Crazy example, but it's the first one that came to
my mind. I'm doing my makeup and I'm Russian. I'm Russian, Okay,
I got somewhere to be. They said I was going
to be thirty minutes late us, but I'm rushing and
I want to throw these lashes on a little you out,
try to get it all together, put on my eye.
The lashes won't. They're not cooperating. They won't get on
(37:11):
the little the little eye thing. They I can't. They
keep falling on the floor. And so I just had
to realize, no, no, no stock, no lashes for you, Bobo, No,
not for you, not today.
Speaker 6 (37:28):
They're too long, too ghetto, whatever the case may be,
not today.
Speaker 5 (37:33):
And although that example was it may not have touched
you like it touched me audience, but it really did
because I felt like that was my little entry to communication,
like I told you no, how many times I.
Speaker 6 (37:45):
Gotta say no? Now you got to pick it up
off the floor, like you know.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
That's good because God have a way of showing itself
and play in situations. And that is true.
Speaker 5 (38:00):
Hey man, so oh, I didn't want to chat about
no heartbreakers. I don't feel like crying at the moment.
Speaker 6 (38:05):
So we have those two, don't we listen?

Speaker 1 (40:13):
Man, he's making I'm back. I'm back back man, I'm bad.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Yeah, yeah, hey man. I have a question though, during
the pandemic, when a lot of the teachers were going virtual,
how did that work for you, man? Because I know
we do have one other podcast as a music teacher
and she was struggling with technology. How did it work
for you?
Speaker 1 (40:35):
Oh? My goodness, it was. It was actually really tough
because if you think rehearsing on those social I mean
on those platforms like Google and Zoom and all of
those things, those are really difficult because it's a lag
and the time and different things like that, and so
it was really difficult for me. I had to teach
(40:58):
a lot of fundamental musical stuff. I would have them
turn in videos to me individually of them playing their
instruments or singing. But as as far as the group activity,
we missed that we were we were we were more
than that because we were unable to really meet and
so that was a really tough spot for me. But
(41:21):
you know, the job had to be done.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
That's right, That's right. And and please accept my condolences.
I lost my dad doing COVID. To man, it was
just a weird thing. Yeah, and it's funny because well
not funny, but talking listen to you. I was talking
to a co worker I just met today for the
first time, and she had lost her dad run the
(41:45):
same time, said did everybody lose their fun?
Speaker 1 (41:51):
Wow? Yeah, that was COVID was a hard time. It
was a rough time. It was a lot of people
were you know, they were putting out the amount of
people who were passing during those times, and you just
was like, lord, please don't let it come to my doorstep.
You know, you just didn't know. Yeah, true, he didn't know.
Speaker 6 (42:12):
Yeah, that was a hard period for all of us.
Speaker 2 (42:16):
This was man just you know, with neighbors and you know,
and I know my neighbor cross the street and missed
that guy. He was the coolest guy. Let me tell
you real quick story. This guy drove hed. He on
a black Corvette, a black Cadillac convertible and he had
a black chip and a black Jeep Cherokee and he
(42:36):
I mean he come out of that man getting ready
for chuck. He were all black. He was looking cool
man and he so he had so he had retired, right,
but he said he kept telling. He said, one day
I'm gonna tell you guys what I did for a living.
And he never told us, right, So I was just
we just assumed with c I A right man. We
go to his funeral. Now he passed away last summer.
(42:56):
It was really sad. Man just happened so fast. And
we went to his friend and found out that he
was a pharmacist. What man, CBS.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
Exactly you see me?
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Which one he was a CBS he is? That's cute. Yeah,
it was like, I mean, everybody showed up man because
they wanted to get the answer. The question was what
did he do? Hit the big crib, you know, hit
(43:38):
the big crib and everything. The pretty little cute little
girlfriend coming over.
Speaker 8 (43:42):
It was like, wow, he got the c I A
you know, just a pharmacist.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
Just just to add light on, you know, our situation.
But anyway, thank you, thank you so much for giving

Bless the United States, Bless the world God, because we're worldwide. God.
We asked that you continue to we continue to put
our trust in you, God, that you are in control
(45:33):

that you're going to do in the future, and we
thank you God. With more time and your name, we
pray a.

life fright man, just the gay right here. Yeah, you've
been perfectly with this program. And you know it's comedy stuff,
not the drama stuff. But right right, yeah, So Jamie,
(47:47):

Speaker 1 (47:49):
Maker?
Speaker 2 (47:49):
I always saw that was a journey up for you
to take. Did you did you try that?
Speaker 1 (47:53):
Goodness? I'm not, but you know, people have told me
multiple times it's like, James, you need to be in
stage place, you need to be on TV, you need
on something like that. What are you doing? And so
I'm just not. You know, I took my hiatus, I'll say, right,
and so I'm back and and that is definitely something
(48:14):
that I'm going to pursue.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
Hit me up again, man, because it's a guy in
North Carolina. He's actually from Baltimore. He's connected with a
guy who's uh, I mean, pretty famous in stage place,
but he's stationed in North Carolina. Now he's not leaving,
but they do a travel show. Yeah, they kind of
connected with New Addition and all them the family and
stuff like that. Yeah, so let me know, man, I'll
(48:36):
connect you with Rocky Man.
Speaker 1 (48:39):
Yeah, please please, I think I think it's about that time.
Speaker 6 (48:43):

to a whole plug like yes and actually go ahead, Joy,
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (50:24):
Bat Man has known me for a million years. He
knew me when I was doing radio. Haul out of here.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
Hey man, you know, but you can see the light,
you know, with different people, you know, and I mean
I've seen some people that was on their last leg.
Man still try to get famous. Man, So oh my goodness,
you know do you you know? So we'll make that happen. Man.
You know, I'm doing puppets too, Man, do puppet TV.
Speaker 5 (50:54):
To see mister, I'll follow you with the puppet Magical
Puppy Playhouse.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
Look, you know, I ain't never seen myself doing no music, man,
So I'm doing music. But Harvey, you know Harvey who
plays with the Cameo the drummer, He actually got me
started and you know, doing custom music. We were just
doing shortre and stuff. So he said, man, we gotta
take it to another level. Man. So they've been writing
me stuff and I'm producing some stuff on my own
(51:22):
and the kids.
Speaker 1 (51:22):
And often to have people to inspire and push you,
you know, because.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
I didn't see myself doing you know, no musicals and
stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Yeah, and look and look at it. Yeah, and look
at you.
Speaker 6 (51:36):
That it's right, and look at it streets.
Speaker 5 (51:41):
Oh my god, you went for the Maryland Public Television people.
Speaker 2 (51:46):
That means they may need me, man, because you know,
they may be losing their funding.
Speaker 5 (51:52):
Everybody was made funding and everybody gonna be dumb and stuff.
Speaker 6 (51:59):
What I tell y'all about the song, Oh lord, I believe.
Speaker 1 (52:04):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
I like this song to you, James, I believe there's
a lot of music in there.
Speaker 1 (52:09):
Man.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
How many instruments did you guys?
Speaker 1 (52:11):
Use? Pieces?
Speaker 6 (52:14):
All of them?
Speaker 1 (52:15):
Give me.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
You know, I'm a band.
Speaker 1 (52:20):
You know I got to put the music in there.
Speaker 2 (52:24):
You got everybody playing something.
Speaker 1 (52:27):
I got my students and I'm talking you got to
you got to do it.
Speaker 6 (52:32):
I'm gonna reach out.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
But you know what, James has so much talent. He
could produce his own play really with the kids, you know, yeah.
Speaker 6 (52:45):
Okay, we'll call it a year in project, right.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Right, taking level James, you know, take the kids to
that level. Man do a musical man stretching. It is true.
Speaker 1 (52:58):
Never thought about that, that is true.
Speaker 5 (53:01):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
