Speaker 3 (02:42):
Listen, people, these cute little outfits that we see for
the low low on the internet does not mean they
are comfortable. Okay, people, If you're doing. If you're doing
long hours, don't put on the cheap shoes that are stylish.
That's that's all I gotta say. Okay, you feed the
hurt and for two days like me, I got lighter
cane patches on them.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Ain't nothing helping, you know.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
I kind of feel you on that. You know what
I thought. You know, tennis shoes. You know, you could
buy any pair of tennis shoes and you get to
go as long as you get in your size. That's
not true.
Speaker 2 (03:16):
That's a lie.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Man. I have some shoes I'm gonna have to throw out.
I got them to my track outfits.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Right, so you think you coordinated right the next thing,
you know, that is not the goal.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
Here.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
I go to these stores and trdy shoes on now, man, God,
and that's nothing. See. That's why if I get a
brand a style that I like, I try to buy
them these teeth colors or maybe by the same colors.
I could keep it for next year, you know, because
I'm wearing them out.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Pick it up for here, pick it up for their
type of people. I got you, I got you.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
God, You're gonna have to go back to Nike. That's bad.
Speaker 3 (03:55):

Bounce I had for like twenty years.
Speaker 2 (04:03):

Speaker 1 (04:04):
They never wear out. The soul is still the same.
This is remarkable.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
I think I'm the only person and that lives in
Baltimore for sure that's never had a pair of new Balances.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah they had a black Yeah I still have them.
I had them think for twenty years. Got him for
forty four dollars.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Listen, it's all about quality and not quantity. Okay, you
get you some still good. I still got a London
Folk jeans set from high school. I love that jacket.
I don't have the jeans, but I love the jackets.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Well, unfortunate I have to throw away all my Sewan Johnnimo.
Ain't nothing wrong with that good lord too. This is
all all sliding down the same hill.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Everything sliding.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
And when I found out that he was drugging the
baby oil, I was like, you know what, I don't
even know why.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I'm surprised.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
The last I know say you give a person at
time in court because you know you hear some crazy
stuff out. He can't believe diet. Everybody jumping. You know,
it's so fair about the court system is and we're
ready to go to our guests and the minut I
want her to get worried, and we forgot about it.
But one thing I don't like to say. If it's
if it's if it's the majority against the minority, you lose,
(05:19):
no matter if it's the truth or not. If five
people jump out there and say you did this and
did that, and you by yourself with no witnesses, you gone.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
First of all, he has too much money to be
in one of them public defender situations, So we're not
even about to say.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
All that.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
His access right. They can do what's.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Done, and the dog would come out to like people
get big egos, they act like they untouchable.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
They are people. None of us. I'm tell none of us.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
I'm gonna tell you. Just thinking about you know what
happened to Sam Cooke, Teddy Pendergrass, Prince Jas Brown, all
these guys, all these guys when these guys were going
after had this money going after you know, they're trying
to buy networks and Beatle record, uh calogs and yeah,
(06:12):
I'm talking about fat money. Next thing, you know, those
people gone the reputation. It's first tarnished, the next thing
you know, they they're gone for it. And it's always
the same, Ammo, even with Elvis President. Did you ever
see Elvis? That's a very interesting movie. They because Mama
Elvas one of the he wanted he wanted to travel international,
(06:34):
but they wanted him to stay at the little Yeah,
they want him to stay at the little hotel in Vegas.
You can go nowhere. Next thing, you know, I got
him a private doctor. Same Ammo. We heard from Michael Jackson.
And next thing you know, he's a drug add in
the drunk all at the same time.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Yeah, when you don't want to cooperate with the powers
that disturbed, it's not it's not great being in the
uh show business these days.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
You know, it's a lot of darkness for you. Okay,
I said, stay independent, stay small, just singing about Yeah,
st up your little little drum set at the park,
have fun, just two people. At least you're safe, okay, Yeah,
all right. But speaking of artists, we have a young
(07:22):
lady here tonight. She's a dance hall pop artist and
I'm gonna take a stab and say her name is Alan.
We're going.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
I was all over social media. It's definitely alar the pronunciation,
so you better not mess it up.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
You know, I got a lot of friends of the
Puerto Rican and African. Don't get here alone. Welcome to
Late Night with Jervy's world Wide. Then, Kelly Howland, how
you doing tonight?
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Hey, how doing? Thanks for having me?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
She key voice, Kelly.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
You hear her saying, you hear her saying.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah, Yeah, I meant to go out there. Look at
her video. Man, I'm gonnahit to real and see if
he can send us some videos so we can aim
on music video shows in New York.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
That would be nice.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
Oh cool in.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Atlanta, Atlanta. Yes, So when you go out there, they
know who you are.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
They know who she is. She everywhere. She did a
tiny desk.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
He was on tiny desk trying to get on it.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
I did a tiny desk. But it was for like
they had like a bunch of artists like submitting things
to be displayed.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
So she was cool.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
It was you had to create your own atmosphere.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
I'm trying to get my puppet on there before playing
music puppet on all right, but look, I'm just saying hello,
you guys have a great show on right here if
you need me see at the end.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Thank you all righty, and thank you for joining us.
I'm so glad to be able to interview you. Once
I happed on your social media read your bie, I
was like, oh, this is going to be fun, and
so please let our listeners know who you are and
what it is that you do.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Yeah, hey, y'all, how y'all doing. My name is Alain.
I am a singer songwriter from the DMV. As for
Lucie stated, I primarily make pop and dance hall music.
I do different to having other genres. That's like, that's
my main thing.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
So yeah, how long have you been in this career?
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Oh my goodness, for a really long time. I mean
I've been making music since. I mean I've been saying
since I was a kid, like I come from a
musical family. But I will say probably professionally pursuing within
maybe four to five years, like actively pushing, pushing myself
because it does take a lot of energy, especially as
(09:50):
independent artists. So I would say for sure the last
four to five years, I've really been putting in an
effort to really, you know, make it known who I am,
what I'm doing. And make connections and stuff.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
So exactly you know nowadays, what I won't say nowadays
because I really don't know. But what I will say
is that in order to be the artist that gets
the views and the support, it seems like there's a
lot more to it than just being creative. There's a
lot more to it than just showing up and giving
(10:22):
your talent. It's a lot more to packaging that whole
whatever you're putting together, Like how does that feel? Are
you a part of every aspect of the music or
are you blessed to have a team that allows you
to just focus on your creativity.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Well, I'll say I'll still say that I'm blessed to
have a team, but I don't have like a full
team like someone that would you know, be signed to
a label whatever. Right, there are still areas where I
have to step in and put on my business woman
issues and had and like say, okay, it's time to
play this role in my career because if I don't,
then who else will. So I definitely am blessed to
(11:01):
say that I have folks that will like do certain
things on my behalf, But there are times that I
really have to advocate for myself, and it can be
challenging to be honest and overwhelming, but I know it's
going to pay off. So that's what keeps me. Like,
what keeps me motivated is knowing that in the end,
I am already somebody big and just when the world
gets to see and experience alone. Just to know that
(11:23):
that's in my future. That's what keeps me motivated in
my family and other things, but for sure just knowing
that there's something special written over my life.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
But it's hard, well, the encouragement, you know, and I'm
always considering the type of work that has to be
put in, you know, But how do you come up
with your song topics? Because it was it's just real,
Like the music, it was so smooth and settling. It's
such a vibe, such a vibe, But how do you
come up with the beat? You know, the rhythm. I'm
(11:54):
just so curious in the creative process.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Yeah, so I work with like different producers, Like my
most recent song, James y Vibe produced it. But I
like to use nature a lot. And I know I've
said this before to my start laughing, but like I
like to use nature like things that we're used to
seeing around us to describe a feeling or to put
(12:19):
emotion to a song, because a lot of times that's
how we connect. We connect with what's around us our environment.
So for example, like my song Shooting Star, I use
space and mentioned senses that you know, you can feel
like when you're coming on a journey, you're coming to
explore with me, open your eyes and look at what's
around and I describe things. But really I'm talking about
experience in who you are through the lens of someone else.
(12:42):
See how amazing that you are and that you're one
in a million, right, But I use the galaxy to
describe that, or stars and things in the world. So yeah,
that's how I usually do. I get a beat from
a producer. If I like it, that's great. If I
don't like it, I'm usually really vocal about that. But
(13:02):
you're really picky about that. But well, yeah, for sure, Yeah,
because I need quality. I always put out like I
was like, no, I really need a quality beat, and
it has to align with whwaiim as an artist. I
can't y'll here making music that doesn't align with me, right.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
So exactly stay true to who you are and what
your brand is. I understand completely and thank you for sharing,
you know, because sometimes people have the goal, but they
don't know or have the will to put in all
the work. And so you make it seem like it's doable.
You make it seem like it's worth it. You make
it seem like you are following in your dream. Thank you,
(13:44):
no problem at all, Shooting Star.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
I love it, I really love it.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
It's so smooth. It's like one of those songs I
want to go skating to. I might want to jog
to it. I might want to do some yoga to it.
I might want to dance and have some wine to it.
And I definitely picture it like a vacation party song,
you know, because people go out of the country, they
go out of town.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
They're used to only the music that they're local to.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
And I always got to tell people, like, when you
get your passport and your stamp, honey, the music is
not the same everywhere you go. You're gonna have to
learn how to just be a vibe to it. You
gonna have to learn how to enjoy it. And so
when I hear your music, I'm like, oh, I can
hear this anywhere. This could be played? Yeah, It's not
just a US song or an East Coast song. It
could be played anywhere. And so that's what I truly
(14:32):
enjoyed about Shooting Star. And then I was always curious
about the creative process that goes behind it. But is
it just the music that you bring or are you
bringing like a look, are you bringing some type of nonprofit,
some type of community service? Like what is the full
package of a line?
Speaker 4 (14:55):
I like to say the full package of a line. Now,
I don't have a nonprofit just yet, although it has
some things in the work. But I say just yet
because a lot I like to describe myself as an experience,
and I like to allow people to feel their best
self when they listen to my music, when they come
to a show, when they encounter and they interact with me,
(15:16):
is a different experience. It's like, I can't really describe it.
You just have to go and see her, you just
have to talk to her. Like it's just different. But
I'm a stand firm on healing. So a lot of
my music, a lot of my brand is centered around
like healing, whether it be mental health or physical health,
and what you eat and put in your body, things
like that is really important because we're all in this
(15:39):
world as world as crazy, and it's important for us
to remember to slow down and take care of ourselves.
Because I can speak for myself firsthand. I used to
tend to and sometimes I find myself still doing it
because I'm not perfect, right, but taking care of everything
and everyone else and forgetting me putting myself on the
back burner, right. But my brand is to remind people
(16:03):
of the importance of healing and taking care of yourself
and being an advocate for yourself when no one else
is there for you. And usually that attracts other like
minded people, right, And that's how you build a community
of people, a healing community, and that's what my community is.
So I would say that's what my brand is. But
I can't wait to have nonprofit and even work with
(16:24):
local nonprofits in the areas that I'm in.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Yeah, I'm glad to hear that you want to be
a service leader, and I thank you for making sure
that your content is authentic. You know, sometimes while I
wouldn't know firsthand, but I would imagine just from what
we get to the preview that we're given on the outside,
is that you know, the dream has to work and
(16:49):
we're going to do what it takes, especially when you
feel yourself getting closer to the goal. But to remain authentic,
to remain true to yourself, to remain you know, just unchanged.
That can sometimes cause a problem. I hear, you know,
rumors that sometimes artists can't put out the music they
(17:10):
feel they want to express. Sometimes there's a picture or
a goal beyond them. But with your creative process and
how your business is set up, is that a hurdle
for you?
Speaker 4 (17:25):
I would say, well, I can put out whatever music right.
But I think in the beginning stages of my career,
I did feel so connected to music, Like I was like,
I will mixed songs for myself basically, and I was
reminded by like people in my inner circle, like, hey, yeah,
while it's important to make this music for yourself, you
(17:47):
want to express yourself, you want to still think about
your community. You want to think about the people that
you want to hear this music. What do you want
them to get from it? And so once I started
thinking about that, yes, I'm telling my story, Yes I'm
making music from my perspective, but I also want to
make sure it's catered to the people that I want
to hear and I want to want something to resonate
(18:07):
with them from this right, And if you don't mind
me sharing with Shooting Star is a pop song, right,
It's a feel good song, like you said. And I
prayed about that song in general. I pray about my
music in general, but to me, that song with affirmation
and just me reminding myself of how how important you are,
that you are one in a million, You are special.
(18:30):
Don't dim your light, right. And I never asked my
fan base. I never asked others how that music made
them feel. I just you know, I put it out
and just kept talking about it and helping the others
feel the same way. Well, I had someone message to me,
somebody DM me and said, I just want to let
you know that your song helped me through my depression.
(18:50):
And I was like, what is a po song? Yeah?
This is the pot And I saved that message because
that meant something that meant so much to me, just
seeing that something that's this body of art, right, this
upbeat song that's not your typical quote unquote healing song
has has healed somebodies. It doesn't usually align with what
(19:11):
people would think of spiritual music. Or healing music. But
it has healed somebody, helped somebody, So that means I'm
doing what I'm supposed to do right, what I expet
to do as a one. So but yes, So to
go back to what you were saying, I think that
the hurdle was me being in my way, like making
music for me and forgetting to think about the audience.
Whereas so now I'm like, okay, think about who I
(19:33):
want this to reach and still have a part of
me in itad.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
It definitely good, and I'm glad you shared and was
transparent about the message that you received. And sometimes those
are the things that help us to regain our focus,
or regain our confidence or know that we're on the
right path. And so I'm glad that they were able
to reach out to you and say, listen, you were
a part of my healing, you were a part of
(19:59):
my cope.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
That was beautiful. Just reading through.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Your background is I'm glad to know that you're a
Baltimore knave. Okay, I'm always nice, Okay, but just like
you said, you've always been singing, being members of several
prestigious choirs among the state and having sang the national
(20:23):
anthem for you know, our home teams and their in
their games, the baseball games, the basketball games, Like how
do they get to your head? Do they kind of
make you big at it? Like yeah I did this
that Dad google me, like do you get that type of.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
No. No, Actually it's a humbling experience because I don't know,
I just I enjoyed doing it. And just the fact
that I God trusted me enough to have these opportunities,
to place these opportunities before me. That's a humbling experience
with me. I don't think that I had and it
might just be me as as a person. I'm not
really good at being like I'm like that. I wish
(21:02):
I could be sometimes sometimes I want to be like
I'm met girls because I know I'm really I'm really
like that. But at the same time, I have a
hard time being like, you know, okay, well.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Please the Lord for the meat, Okay, a little for
the meat. Because the ego was verse, don't let me
oh you know my song? Yeah girl.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
The shout out to you and all your streams as
shout out to you as business grows, shout out to
you as you become more popular in this music scene.
It says that you started songwriting at fourteen. Really, yeah,
I know that's right. They got to be deep. But
it all came from poetry. So who is spot where's
(21:45):
the poetry coming from?
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Where's the inspiration?
Speaker 4 (21:49):
That's funny. I don't even know where the post I mean,
I would say a writer Tony Morrison. I love Tony Morrison,
but I think I can't even I don't know if
I really have I don't know. I just used to
write poetry a lot. I used to do spoken word
(22:10):
for like schools and stuff, so and I used to
put programs together. It's kind of funny at my schools,
but I loved spoken word and a lot of my
songs started off as poetry and then developed into songs.
So I think I knew I was a writer technically
writing songs before I knew I could really write music.
But once I started putting learning how to put songs together,
(22:34):
that's when I became a unofficial like songwriter. But yeah,
I definitely used to do poetry a lot, and I
used to read a lot. I don't know if I
had a favorite poet.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
You don't have to pick it narrow it down, Like,
why do I have to have a favorite. I just
like this, I like this, I like all of this,
all of Yeah, I don't want to choose. Depends on
my mood. Yeah, whatever my mood is telling me. I
need whatever is going to build me up. That's what
I need, That's what I desire. But Shooting Star is amazing.
(23:10):
Now is that just a single? Is there an album?
How are you packaging it?
Speaker 4 (23:16):
So that's a single. But we do have an album
on the way, which I'm really excited about, twenty twenty five.
So that's something that folks should stay on the lookout
for anything, any titles we should be hopeful for or
are we still working on that?
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Is that the final piece you add to it?
Speaker 4 (23:33):
Yeah, I want to lock it in. I have an idea,
but I want to lock it in, make sure that
it really fits. Fits so well, we have cooking up.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
So yeah, is this the first album?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
So yes, this will be my first. Oh, I'm excited
about that.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
You know what, We've had another artist on, have plenty
of artists, plenty of authors, and I'm grateful that they
have come to the Late Night Show with us. But
not but and I was excited when another artist Are
you familiar with Jokiah no, she does the gospel music
and she has a song I'll call yeahweh. She has
(24:12):
a lot of songs out right, but in the beginning
of her process, we were fortunate enough to have her
as one of our guests. And so I love being
at the beginning, you know, And then I get to tear.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
You guys on.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
As the music becomes popular, I start to hear it
on the radio, I hear it on the YouTube streams,
and I don't know why I feel a part of
their success, but it was like I was there, and
so I wait to do the same for you alone.
I can't wait to us. You know, she came on
(24:47):
the show. We're going to play her music on our videos.
That would be great. Oh did you make a video
for Shooting Star?
Speaker 4 (24:56):
So we have a music we have a visualizer that
we ca okay, have created and a couple but I
was thinking, like, do we go to the music video
route or do we not? Because one of the songs
that I have for that's coming to twenty twenty five,
I know for sure we'll do music video for that.
I just wasn't sure anymore about Shooting Stars. So we
have we've just been creating, like a lot of pretty
(25:17):
visualizers and those are dropping, but those have been getting released,
like on my page. So far, we have one that's released,
and I think we're going to released the next one
this weekend and then so on. So that's in the
route we took for this song. But I think, I mean,
I'm not sure. I'm not sure if I want to
fully commit to the music video.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
It's okay, you don't have to, and it's completely your
creative decision. And I'm glad that you're saying, listen, we
have visuals for that.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
That's doing well.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
But the overall plan and that's where we're going to
focus the energy, and so that that sounds like we
need to be prepared.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
So we're going to be prepared.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Okay, we're going to have to start put re orders,
you know, and make sure that we can get a copy.
But do you enjoy being a storyteller? Because it sounds
like you do.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
You do.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
That's amazing, that's amazing, But okay, completely not your area, right,
But I'm just curious. Did you ever think about publishing
any books, any works of a collection of poems, anything special?
Speaker 4 (26:31):
I mean, maybe eventually, I know, eventually, I would love
to put a book together. I haven't not yet. I
know I'm not ready yet, but I would love to.
I know as I get older and someone's gonna be
in the same dude that I'm in right now, growing
and looking for someone to like say, how do you
get how do you do this? And how did this
(26:52):
you know, happen? And where do I go from here?
And I hope that I could be that person for
someone one day, but I know right now that's not
right now, but in my few which I would love to.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
So you picture yourself writing a book of helping someone
and see I thought maybe it would just be a
collection of poems or unfinished songs or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Well, that'd be cool. Okay, we a line.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
She's gonna put her glasses and get her notepad out, baby,
lay on the couch to fix you.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
I love it. I love it. I love it. What
was your musical inspiration coming up?
Speaker 4 (27:27):
My musical inspiration for sure has been my family. I mean,
my mom just sing. My mom was singing with me
all the time when I was younger. And then my
uncle he played many instruments and was singing and play
and I was singing along with him, playing piano, and
so I think for sure, being around family members that
(27:49):
love music and just you know, they really really love
it and pour it into you, you just you want
to do that, right, But then you discover that you
have a gift. And I was in choirs growing up
and went to the School of the Arts for a
high school and then I went to School of Arts
when I graduated as well. So I would say for
sure as far as inspirations growing up, it was my family,
(28:11):
and then I had other artists, you know, that you
look up to as you become an artist yourself. I
love Jason Sullivan, I love her, I love snow alegra
some of my favorite like older artists, which it's kind
of funny, but I love Stevie Wonder. I love Stevie
on his creative process. He's a true artist's.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
There's just so many I'm curious. Can you tell us
a little bit about his creative process? Because it got
you excited I heard it.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
I mean, I just love I just love that he
can be so in tune with his music and get
his message across in a lighthearted way. And I love
that she's so talented like this man even like looking
at recently with his concerts. This man's playing like harmonica
and piano and directing stuff and really fully just engaged
(29:04):
in his crack. You can tell he's in his element
and it's just so natural. It's just so natural.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
It sounds like it's going to be you too. I
would love to see you perform live. Are you a
shoes on or shoes off person?
Speaker 4 (29:20):
Listen, I'm listen. I'm a shoes off person. But right now,
until I get my platform, Until I can get my platform,
I'm aware, you know, have a obviously i'd be wearing
shoes and stuff. But like I want to make I
want to have I want to have like shows where
people feel so comfortable that they can like just be like,
oh my goodness, see me up there. If I feel
(29:40):
like I wanted to have my heels on in the
middle of the show, I take my heels and they're like,
that's such an a long thing to do, Like okay,
but yeah, I'm all about just being comfortable being yourself.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
So yeah, sounds fine.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Exactly, you know, And I'm glad that you know that
those days are coming. I'm glad that your face is undying.
I'm glad that you're excited about this whole journey, and
we're excited to join you on it.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
To be honest, we are.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Excited here at Positive Power Double x I. So let's
take a flash into the future. Let's go up. Let's
go up five years. Who is alone in five years?
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Hm? Hmm A line in five years? Oh? Who is
alone in five years?
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I'm curious.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Definitely a superstar, I know that's my girl. Definitely a
superstar and a big name, and all for good reasons.
So yeah, without losing losing who I am. That's why
I want to stay true to I always want to
stay true to who I am, and that's been a
big pair of mine too. I know this industry can
(30:56):
be really crazy. Yeah, I never want to lose who
I am, you know and where I came from.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
I love it. I love it, and we helped that
everything works out. Wow.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
We wish you nothing but success and for you to
be the shooting star that you wrote about. You know,
I know i've kind of plug your song crazy tonight, but.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
I like.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
You no problem. You mentioned another song, save Me. What
was the inspiration behind that save Me?
Speaker 4 (31:31):
That's that's so funny. Did you did you have a
chance to hear that one.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Nope, you can hear it.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
So so save Me is actually a lot slower. So
it's a song about we all get in the way
of our own self sometimes and we don't realize that.
So save Me is being saved from yourself. Like there
was a space where I just was blocking my own
blessings and constantly just feel like I'm in a dark space.
(32:00):
But it's because I was in the way, getting in
my head, overthinking, just really not given really giving it
up to God, if I'm being honest, but just being
in my own way, blocking myself from moving forward, and
wasn't really realizing that even down to like the words
that we speak about ourselves, our works whole power. So
me saying I can't do something all the time, that's
(32:21):
me feeding that and I'm going to start thinking and
respond as if I can't. So that song was just
about saving me from myself, like and that sounds like
us a lot about nature too.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
Listen, that's one of my prayers. God blocked me from
myself when I'm handling my own blessings. Yeah, you had
in store for my life. Yeah, sometimes I can get
a little petty, So.
Speaker 4 (32:44):
It's okay, it's Okay, okay.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
I'm here.
Speaker 4 (32:49):
You are, you're hearing. You're allowed to you at allowed
to be petty. You know. That's that's crazy that people
want you to be so perfect and be like to
have your sex.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Life and okay, and depending on the moment, I might
not have the best attitude.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
So watch how you talk to me.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Okay, I'm on a boiling line right now, and I'm
just trying to keep it to myself, you know, trying
to see myself.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
But absolutely, I love that you write music to heal.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
And I'm sure it transcends in the beat and the melody,
in the words, and all I can picture is just
like candles, some type of good smell in the air,
you know, like a romatherapy type of stuff.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
I can see you just like eyes.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Closed, shoes off, just just just fully succumbing to the
mood of the song and then just giving it to
us with power.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
So I can't wait. I can't wait. I'm excited.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
We gotta, we gotta come to a constant. We got
to see the girl do her thing. Do you have
any shows coming up?
Speaker 4 (34:05):
I actually have, Yeah, a few, actually, but I have
a show coming up next weekend in New York. That's
only twenty fifth that links to my bio on Instagram
as well as at the LK Cafe. I have another
show in DC and that will be on November fourteenth, Okay,
(34:28):
December seventh in Baltimore. All right, yeah, that's at the
I think it's not Motorhouse. Oh my goodness, I gotta
look and see what it's called. It's a beautiful event.
You have to dress up and it's nice hosted by
Tonyer Artistry.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Really, I have a burgundy set and dress I would
love to pull out.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
We'll see, Oh yes, do it.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
It's such a nice event. Like I performed there last year.
It was so beautiful and so inclusive and welcome in like,
it's a beautiful thing. But myself, my band First Wonder
will be there.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Okay, First Wonder is the name of the band? Awesome?
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Awesome.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Where can we find this information? How can we support you?
Speaker 3 (35:14):
This is your time to plug away, honey, Give us dates,
give us websites, give us phone numbers, give us everything.
Really support you. Go go go. Everyone's listening. This is
your chance, of course.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
I mean I'm on all social media platforms at officially alone,
so officially a la h N and really just you
could find anything about me on my pages. I have
a channel called en Route where people can follow find
me and then follow me along my journey. And then
I also have a website along music dot com, so
(35:47):
a lot of music dot com that's under construction for
like visuals, So right now that might be a web
message that pops up because we're working on like the
visuals and anesthetics of that website. But everything else is
always posted on my page, always posted on my link
tree until you'll be able to see all of that.
And there is a mixer, if you don't mind me saying,
there's a holiday mixer that we're coming that we have
(36:10):
and it's planned for December, so I would say stay
up on the look for that. That's gonna be some
exclusive content and some exclusive music for my album that's
being released in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
Ooh, a little sneak preview.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
Okay, Yeah, that's gonna be really nice, and it's live
and there'll be like light or dirbs and like drinks
and it's very nice. It gonna be really nice.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
I like that you play to a live band.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
Yeah. I love when we're a live band and They're
a great group group of musicians for sure.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Very bad.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
I bet, I bet.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
I'm excited thinking about the events and how I can
dress up and be a part of this. You know,
this whole vibe like I just can't I can't wait.
I'm excited for you. Thank you, no problem at all.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
All Right.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
So you're a girl from the church. What scripture are
you holding on to you this week?
Speaker 4 (37:08):
Oh? That is a good one. What scripture am I
holding onto this week?
Speaker 1 (37:17):
Hmm?
Speaker 4 (37:18):
I've been reading a lot.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Of Matthew Okay.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
Yeah, like getting to know really get him, to know
who Jesus is. M M. I want to say the
biggest scripture right now for me, and it's not even
in Matthews and Psalms, and it's about basically a prayer
to know like God's promises. And I think that's something
(37:45):
that I've been trying to remind myself is that his
word is a lamp. It's like a lamp that guides
me and his promises that he'll light my past and
show me the way. And I just keep replaying that
in my mind because like the part and you get
distracted and you feel discouraged. But if I remember listening
to this one sermon, saying like, if you spend more
(38:08):
time worship, then you have less time to worry getting
in that space for me just worship. Let me just
remember who God is and that my life is in
his hands. I don't have nothing to worry about. So yeah,
I would say, Matthew and some I would say the
books right now, that are my.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Thank you for sharing. What's one of your worship songs.
I'm sure you have many, but which one, which one
kind of stands out right now now that you're on
the spot.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
Yeah, now that on the spot, I would say Phil
Thompson my worship.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
Okay, okay, oh yeah, oh yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
I like it. I like it. I like it. I
like it.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Yeah, because every now and then we got to get
to our roots people, We got to go back to
when the church is. We got to come into the spirit,
and I like to do that through worship. Amen, any
advice you would give to any young girl that's pursuing
a career in music. She may not have all the tools,
(39:12):
she may not have the wherewithal, but she has a voice.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
What's your advice for.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
That young girl or boy?
Speaker 4 (39:22):
Hmm? I would say the biggest thing that I would
say is, don't be afraid to try. Try different genres,
try different places and singing there, try writing, try even
if you want to learn producing or learn an instrument.
(39:44):
Don't be afraid to try different things, especially while you're young.
You have so much time to make mistakes. Don't worry
about the mistakes. It's okay, you can make them. You
have so much time to do that. I would just say,
don't be afraid to try. A lot of us would
get stuck in it space. We have all these great thoughts,
but we never tried, and we never put it to us. Right,
don't be afraid to try.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Yeah, that's great advice.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
And thank you so much for sharing, and thank you
for joining us this evening. We'll be wrapping up very soon.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Batman.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
Do you have any last words for a line?
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Yeah? You serious about attending her event? I'd love to
hang out with you.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
You're gonna come out, Batman. Now we got to show up. Now,
that's she said.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
She said October, November, and December dates. You might not
make it the New York way.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
No, right, you said a local one local one is
November seventh. If you said at the exclusive joint.
Speaker 4 (40:51):
The exclusive one. No, that was the one you're referring to,
the December seventh that was in Baltimore. The exclusive one
will also be in Maryland. That one is the date
for that is December fourteenth, Okay, November fourteenth, I'll be
in d C.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Okay, we can probably do the one of December. Kelly,
so fine that I'll get to real to reminder. We'll
send the tickets. Okay, yeah, buy advanced tickets.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
I was no that that one is just free, just
come in, okay, one of the one of the fourteenth.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
Draft that free sounds good to me.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
We don't mind paying because we want to support a bar.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
About that. It is at a restaurant, though, So that's
I think they you know, you know, they don't have
ticket prices, but you do probably gotta if you want.
So is that that downtown?
Speaker 1 (41:54):
Is that downtown Baltimore for the one.
Speaker 4 (41:57):
In the fourteenth that's in d C. So the one
in the Dowtown Baltimore on the seventh, that one is
ticketed and that one is and that's the one. We
have to dress like dress up, dress formal, really nice dresses. Yeah, yeah,
(42:17):
I'll make sure you guys get that I'm tell you,
I have you on socials, so I would definitely send
it to you so you can listen to it.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
Thank you so much, because I definitely wanted to me,
I definitely wanted to hear it.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
But yeah, it was. It was.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
It was nice going through your social media and trying
to post a flyer tonight on my page. I know
Batman does all the great artwork in the backgrounds, but
I just wanted to give my audience an opportunity to
kind of get a feel for you. So hopefully Shooting
Star does it for them like it did for me.
(42:55):
And I just want to thank you again for coming on.
Before we close out, we all always make time for
the Lord. So we're going to pray out and I
actually was going to ask if he could pray us out.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
Me.
Speaker 4 (43:09):
You don't have you now, I'm always ready, Okay, and
you go. I know you're Kelly and you go by Batman, right,
m yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Jerry Voice. You can find me on Facebook at Jerry
Rose Live Live.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
Yes, but we call him the Batman because all night sure,
I know, right?
Speaker 4 (43:38):
All right, Well, I will go ahead and pray us out. Well,
thank you for this time, Thank you for this day.
Oh God, thank you for allowing me to just have
this opportunity to be able to share my art and
share who I am on this podcast today with Kelly
and Jerry. I want to pray for them and all
that they are accomplishing in life. Right now, Lord, I
(44:01):
pray for blessings that they pour on others of God.
That you refill their cup as well, O God, and
just bless the show and bless their lives. O God
and just. I just want to say thank you, Lord,
and thank you for allowing them to remember to keep
you involved in the mix of God. So and Jesus name,
I pray Amen, thank.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
You so much, Thank you for praying for us. And
we want to get some blessings your way too, Alon.
So Lord, please bless her and all this he has
to endure.
Speaker 1 (44:27):
Okay, gies, more shows, more shows, and more down ludes.
Speaker 3 (44:33):
Okay, more good music. Yes, we want to come out.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
We want to do it.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
And if Batman's comment he's bringing his camera, he goes
nowhere without creating content.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
So since crime been I haven't been coming up with
I'll just bring my phone, bring my phone, Okay, Yeah,
I reach out to turn and make sure make sure
that we get those dates and everything, and well make
(45:09):
a couple of albums. I need something to do do
on Christmas holiday. Well that's good. Yeah, yeah, break down,
that's when we're don't.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
Break sweet the fur, all the different Fredricks, the nice cuts, yes, gloves.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
I can't wait. I love to get dressed up for
the weather. So fall is my time.
Speaker 3 (45:29):
The leather coats come out, you to wear your real hair,
the humidity, praise the Lord, you know, type of good.
Speaker 1 (45:37):
I think a lot of Baltimore is like that. That's
from this area, like the fall in the winter. It's
the ones that's from like you know, other places that
this isn't like our too cold. It's super hot.
Speaker 4 (45:49):
Man.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
Man. We put on some shorts with some ugs and
cold to day so.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
Skin looks better during the winter. That's one thing I know.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
Oh that's good for you. So people be cracking and bleeding.
They need some bazoline in that lotion. I'm just saying.
Speaker 4 (46:09):
For you.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
So we'll see how it goes. But thank you.
