What's going on in doctor Robinson's world? What's up, Kimmy,
kim How you doing? What's going on?
Speaker 5 (02:42):
I'm doing good? How about you?
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Jerry?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Are you are your girls? Is your daughter still in
volleyball season? How's that going?
Speaker 5 (02:51):
No, we're done. We finished up last Thursday. I'm going
to miss it. I know.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
I know another watching your children comfort issue? Were any good?
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Be good?
Speaker 5 (03:06):
They just sometimes would you know, give points up on era,
But it's a really good team.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
They just have to believe.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
I love volleyball, man, I never did it competitively only
you know how you know in gym they kind of
stopped having instrumental sports and stuff.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
Yeah, we didn't have some organized sports when I was
in high school.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
I want to play volleyball.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yes, it's really really good exercise. Matter of fact, one
of my coworkers before she got pregnant two years ago,
she had co workers coming out playing volleyball. I didn't
do it, you know, would Yeah, I'm not trying to
do any type of sport that has anything to do
with hamstrings. And calf muscles.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's easy to do because
you're jumping up and you have to make sure you
land properly. Oh yeah, it's not an easy sport. It
looks easy, but it really isn't.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
I say, I say, when you when you hit forty four,
you gotta start, uh, you know, dropping some of those
contact type sports, you know, like basketball, little softball, even softball.
I remember a lot of guys having some injuries. They
didn't show up to work for a couple of days.
So yeah, you gotta start now. People blowing pickleball is
(04:30):
big now and people are getting injured, you know. I
see you guys pickball really big. It's big. It's not
enough courts. I think they they gotta start investing in
some courts around here.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
Oh really, yeah, you.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Know, cause tennis. Tennis is like the long game. You know,
that's that's only fun if you if you played it
in high school on the collegiate level, because I played
some people. I played with some people who didn't have
you know, just picked it up and they were awful.
Was no fun. But pickleball, I think people can pick
it up and be pretty competitive, you know, even at
an older age, you know, having tried it, not yet,
(05:10):
but I've been watching it on YouTube and it's been
some stuff on ESPN. And my mom's when her neighbors play,
and she's like in her seventies. Yeah, she in her seventies.
And I heard a couple of football players talking about it.
You know pickleball around here.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
Pickleball you have to.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Be part of a club in order to get court
time because it's hard to get caught time, and you've
got to be available during the day to be able
to go.
Speaker 5 (05:35):
Yeah, I work on a day.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
That's kind of heart.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
But I'm gonna I'm gonna check it out next year.
I'm gonna take some lessons first. And my son boy
made pickle ball set, but he give me on.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
Net like how big is it? Is it a big space.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
That you need to have it in or is it
now it's like half of a tennis court. You're never
really moving out of your area. You kind of get
your own little area you play, you playing pairs, but
you have to check it out. Yeah, big pattles, big
ball is a big wolfle ball.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
It's a it looks fun.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
Yeah, it's just that, you know, I just don't want
to enter any balls.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
You know, you'd be right with that because the ball
is about the size of a wolfleball, like a softball,
and you're using a paddle, not like a racket like
a like a ping.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Ball, So it's like racketball, but just a softer ball.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Now the ball is made out of plastic. It's like
wolfleball with a with a ping pong.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
Paddle people, Okay, okay, bigger, a bigger paddle.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yeah, the paddle is just bigger than the ping pong paddle. Yeah. Yeah,
let me try to hopefully I'll be able to get
some classes soon, you know, right now, can.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
You do it? And then I'll think about it.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Well, you know, I'm still doing my boxing things, so
you know, I can't take on too much stuff because
just finish uh, I had to take I had to
take a side seat to the boxing for about two
weeks because I had to finish up a big house project,
paint project, which took me three weeks to do. Yeah,
(07:15):
because you know, because I didn't take off, no, maybe
one or two days from work, but it was a
lot of work, and nobody around the house want to help.
I think that need to help me clean up, So anyway,
So it's done now, just finished the garage door. I
did the muddy room, the family room, the kitchen. So
I was surprised how long it took me to do
(07:35):
the kitchen. You know that was pretty pretty teased.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
The kitchen.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Well, we painted the family room and the kitchen all
one collar. We wanted to have a flow, and it
was it was about time, you know, we've been here
for a minute and my wife was getting tired of
that yellow. And then the family room was another color,
so it wasn't like an even flow, so she wanted
to Yeah, so it's done and she is happy. She's
(08:02):
a happy Camper's.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
All the matter, talk about it right.
Speaker 3 (08:06):
Ready for the holiday, ready to entertain, all right, But
Kimmy Kim, you ready to talk to your guests. I
know she's ready to you know, I know, yeah, she's
not too far from me. I believe. What's up? Slanda. Welcome,
Chrilandra so Landra right, I want to say your name right?
Speaker 2 (08:25):
How are you doing?
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Great? Great? Welcome to Late Night with Jerviys Live worldwide
and Kimmy Kim Welcome, welcome, How are you welcome?
Speaker 6 (08:33):

Speaker 3 (08:34):
We're glad to have you shout out to Jason Nation
for you know, letting this happen, and we appreciate him always,
and I thank you for being part of us tonight.
We hope I artists enjoy what you about to share
on your journey. And Kimmy Kim's gonna do the interview.
So I'm just gonna be ready listening. If you guys
need me, just holler amen, have a good show.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
Oh, Jerry's just gonna thank you once again for this
wonderful opportunity. I don't take this lightly and I'm just
grateful for you and continue on the good work. And
how are you doing today, my sister?
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I'm fine. How you doing?
Speaker 5 (09:14):
I can't complain. Just wish I could understand this weather.
You know, one minute it's cold, the next minute is seventy,
next minute sixty.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
I'm like, come on, it's just I don't know how
to dress it.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
You know, I don't want to dress anymore. Like I
had on a sweater dress. I was really hot. But
then I can't really work the summer dresses because you
get cold like and here for under than that, I'm good.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Where are you from, by the way, are you from
the Midwest? Well, I'm from North Carolina. I was raised
in North Carolina, but I've been in LA for every
since twenty seventeen.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Okay, okay, well, I'm just making sure that we're not
New Western together. But before we began this wonderful, exciting
fellowship in time, can you tell the listener who is Srilandra?
Speaker 7 (10:18):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (10:18):
So, well, like I said, I'm just a little country
girl from North Carolina. I was born and raised well,
I was born in New York, but then we moved
to North Carolina. And I was raised in a little
town called Freemont, and we're like one grocery store, oh wow,
(10:44):
maybe a couple of gas stations. You know, it's a
very small town. And so and that's where I went
to church at also and just grew up in church.
Had come from my family of music musicians, of vocalists,
and so we you know, we did we had a
(11:07):
lot of church activities, singings and all that. So that's
pretty much. And started singing when I was a little
I think I had my first solo when I was
like five, and and then took it on from there
and I sing in the choir and then our family
(11:27):
we have a gospel group, so that's pretty much it's
And then later on my daughter, I had have a
daughter and she had opportunity to come out here. So
I decided to matter change and we moved out to LA.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
And how do you like the transition from North Carolina
to LA? What is the page like for you?
Speaker 2 (11:55):
It was very different. Trapped along is different.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
You're driving and then oh lord, I could not drive
in LA. I did it one time, not doing it again.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
No, you had crazy When I first got out here,
it was like everybody was honking at me. But now
you know, I do the hunt, you know how the maneuver.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
You have to learn their way of driving. Absolutely, just
like New York.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
It's like mm hm.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
So you mentioned that you've been singing since you were five.
When you say that music is one of your passions
and why.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Yes, oh yeah, Like I said, I came from a
musical family, family of music, and that's what we did,
even family reunions, whatever we were doing, we always had
to sing something. And my mom she was she is
(12:58):
a choir director. So I was, you know, like strictly
raised with you know, singing my best, making sure I'm
doing this, making sure I'm you know, just learning to
love to sing with passion and learning to give God
(13:21):
all you have and and you know, she's that's how
she raised me to be and with me and my
sisters and still today, I tried to just continue to
give God the very best when I'm singing. And I
just recently started writing. I did not know my mom
(13:45):
when we were younger. We did like a little cassette
tapes and stuff when we released, but my mom she
did all the writing. And I had no idea that
I had the gift of writing until actually after I
got out here, and I just one day, I was
(14:07):
just going through life was life and as you so
to speak, and I was just it's one of those
times that you just had. I just had to cry
for God. And it seems like as soon as I
did that, lyrics just started coming to me, just coming
to me, coming to me, and I just started writing.
(14:27):
And every since then, if they're not coming to me
while I'm you know, just sitting there, I try to
keep a path with me. I'm okay, so I can
drop down, you know, lyrics, or then at night I
have my phone next to me because I might wake
up singing a song and I, you know, play it
(14:47):
on my phone so I can keep it. So that's
pretty much how I got into.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
Writing.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
It was definitely not.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
That sounds it.
Speaker 5 (15:01):
Sounds like once you realize even though your mom introduced
it to you, you realize that you truly like it,
because you know, sometimes our parents tend to live through us.
So that's good that you eventually liked it for yourself
because you know that's that's how your passion is. It's birth.
You know, when you are passionate about someone, it doesn't
(15:22):
feel like it's worked, and you love doing it. And
you mentioned that you have passed everywhere to write songs
and be with that sport. How do you know you
have a good song?
Speaker 2 (15:35):
That's a good question. I tell you. When I wrote
my first song I, which I haven't released yet, the
very first song I haven't released I have, I haven't
released it yet, but when I wrote that, I it
had to come from I said, this is the Lord's
(15:57):
song because I didn't know. I never, you know, knew
how to write or whenever I did write, whenever I
did try because I remember trying to make me my
mom writing and stuff and trying to help her out
with different songs, but mine never really we never really
made any sense, you know. So when I wrote that
(16:18):
song and it like really sound kind of decent, I
was like, wow, this is this had to be from God.
So I remember writing down one and then Amazing Love
came like immediately immediately after that, like it was like
a continuation from my first song. And I remember and
(16:41):
I was in my room and I was writing it
and my daughter came in home. And my daughter, she
keep in mind, she's very business sense. And when I
said my man, I said, I asked her, I said
listen to this, and I started singing amazing Love to her,
and then she it to me. She said, you're gonna
(17:02):
get a copyright.
Speaker 5 (17:04):
Oh, I like her. Hey, I'm like, did you get
the copyright? I said, you get the copyright her, your daughter.
I'm just kiddy. I'm sure you did. That is too cute.
(17:25):
Now they do they now, the young ones, they can't
tend to like take care of us, because sometimes you
can get lost, like mom, you know, you know you
gotta get this come right, and you never know. People
are trying to steal your your music online now because
it's easy to do now, it's so easy to be
I could get someone someone's computer.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Yeah, because I was. I before I had gotten my
first song registered and everything I was, I had say,
I was in the studio and I was singing a
little bit and then I was gonna post it. Well
I get post it and and she watches everything I post.
Speaker 7 (18:04):
And she as soon as I posted, she said.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Mama, off, take it off.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
I like her. She's looking after you. So you know,
it's like you said, social media, it's so easy to do.
You don't think about stuff like that, but yeah, it's easy.
M hmm.
Speaker 5 (18:30):
So what kind of foodie you know? You said you're
front the country. I know you probably know how to cook.
So what's your favorite dish to cook?
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Oh? Sway, everybody loved mama lasagnia.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Oh now you gotta send me up right now.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
I love lavonia. That's one of my favorites.
Speaker 5 (18:49):
How you make yours?
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Yes, everybody loves it. But I'm like you said, I
can cook. I can fright, you make potato?
Speaker 5 (19:02):
You know?
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Oma you know, uh huh. I had to stand in
the kitchen with her. You know when she cook so
and when and when it's Thanksgiving, Christmas and all that,
we all in the kitchen. It ain't no mama, cooking
by ourselves. So you know, that's how I'm learning. Mm exactly,
(19:25):
So I could you know anything pretty much?
Speaker 6 (19:30):
Now?
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Do I like to cook?
Speaker 5 (19:33):
Not really, that's a different boy. You're so busy doing
other things. What do you do when you're not making music?
Speaker 2 (19:44):
What do you do when you're not making music?
Speaker 5 (19:47):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Hm hmm. Singing somewhere? Yeah, yeah, I'm always singing somewhere,
like I'm in two or three quiet now we get
for Christmas experience and it's just a lot going on
all the time. But when I'm not doing anything with music,
(20:10):
I think, you know, I like doing regular I like shopping,
and you know, I like going to the movies, different
stuff like that. And but other than other than that,
it's pretty much rehearsals, going to the studio and doing
(20:31):
this and doing that, you know, pretty much music, which
I love, you know, I love doing that.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
Well, that's fun, because you know, I'm so sorry, no, no,
keep on, I want to know you.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
We also well, of course we live out in La
so we did and dabbed in the film industry, so
we have a We did a short film a couple
of years ago, and so I had a chance to
direct my first short film. So that was fun. So
I do I do acting. Also, I've done a lot
(21:11):
of background work and I recently had a role in
on ID Network and I also had a role on
Real Murders of Atlanta. I had a role on that,
So I'm good. So after joint, I do different things,
(21:32):
you know, but the more majority of the time is music,
you say, And so how.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
Do you take care of your mental health? So you're
doing all this so many different hats that you're were,
You're a entrepreneur, you're a singer, your mom, your daughter,
and more so, how do you take care of that
mental health?
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Oh? God, m m. That's that's definitely number one. Uh
And I told you I had to cry out to
him one day, you know, And that's a lot. He's
just I prayer, Having that prayer time, having that quiet
time with him, you know, keeps me calm and just
(22:15):
kind of relaxing sometime and megitating and and sitting back.
And I have like I have like shows that I watch,
Like I like old shows like Peak on Peacock, like
I love Lucy and shows like that. Okay, okay, that
(22:37):
that's my quiet time. That's my mean time. When I
can sit down on the couch with a bowl of
chips or something and just watch that, which I I
can't do that very often, but you know, that's the
good relaxation time that I do.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
I do the same thing I do benj because you know,
oh yes, Unfortunately I did this one bench and I
was at the TV for a whole day. I watched
this thing on next to the call Love is Blind,
and it was really good.
Speaker 6 (23:10):
Okay, okay, it's like a it's like a love show
where you get to meet someone through the wall and.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
Then if you get a proposal, that's when you guys meet.
I was like, oh, this is crazy, but it's really cool.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Is that like the Bachela Ray or something.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
It's like, it's better. I was like, who's out to
a wall and get to know each other? But if
you look at it, it's like a blind day or
you're on a game show and you're talking between the
wall and look at scenas and six. It was really good.
If you ever get bored, it's called Love is Blind
(23:51):
on Netflix. I was like, oh my goodness, this looks
really good.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
It actually kind of makes sense because.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
You get to know someone based on the conversation and
if you guys become very serious, then the guy would
propose to you. And when he proposes, that's when you meet.
And then that's when you decide whether or not you
want to continue the journey. So you don't yeah two people, Actually, yeah,
you meet him once he proposes and so then you
(24:19):
go through plan you have the wedding. And actually I
can say it worked because of it was like six
couples that got proposed. Out of the sixth who actually
went through with the wedding, it was really good. Wow.
I mean, you go and plan a wedding, you meet
(24:40):
the family, you do all of that bachelor party and everything. Yeah,
I was like, this is a really good show.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
So I'm like, I'm like, you're watching it.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
But anyways, it's about easterdam So that's good that you've
been and you have a mental regimen that you follow
because you're doing a lot of different things. So tell
me what's going on with your new project. Talk about that.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Yeah, I'm trying to do a traditional more traditional songs
because okay, like that's where I come from my old church,
in my church in Freemont. That's what we've say most
of the time traditional. So I wanted to do something,
you know, like that, and that's why I've been trying
(25:35):
to get together. But it seems like and I was
actually getting ready to go into the studio to record
that right when Jason and I started, right before Jason
and I met, and and I told him and said,
(25:56):
I was getting I was just getting ready to go
into the studio, you know. He said, well, that's good,
he said, keep doing your music. He said, but you
need to promote Amazing Love. So that's then I said,
he said that. I said, well, I'll just hold off
a little bit, and and I just started to promote
made Amazing Love love what he did. He's been promoting
(26:19):
Mapen Love and my video, so because I did a
video like a year after I released my Amazing Love.
So that's pretty much the only song that I have released,
but I have so many more that I want to.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Uh huh, why amazing Loud? What makes you come up
with that title?
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Because his love is just you know, because we can
do some stuff we can and he his love never fails,
his love level, his love never waivers. It's just always
the same, and we always back away from him. But
(27:01):
even when we do back away from him, you can
still feel his presence and that's that love. Just love.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
His love is amazing, right, yes, love, His love never ends.
It's ever last time love that you can have on
exactly and you just.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Think he knows every single thing about us and he
still love us, so you know, that's amazing to me.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
It is amazing. He knows exactly what we're going to
mess up, and he's like, Okay, that's how you're going
to do this to me. Okay, but yeah, that's one
thing I don't like to do is mess with him,
you know, because he's been so good you know.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Oh yeah, uh yeah, so amazing.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
I wouldn't have one.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Yeah, So.
Speaker 7 (27:57):
That's where that came.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
And he's started to promote an amazing love and it's
been doing pretty good. And I'm just I feel I'm
blessed to that to know, because he always let me
know where it's been played and everything, and you know,
he's been playing played in all these countries because I
just looked at my chart today and I saw that
(28:21):
it was being played in Uganda and you know, just
these places that I always dingle going, but my music
is already there, and that's just a surreal feeling.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
It's just oh wow, what is your favorite colors?
Speaker 2 (28:39):
I think it's probably hot pink.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
Really what hot?
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Big?
Speaker 5 (28:48):
I think he'll be a red. I think you'll be
a red person because of the love. Okay, okay, I
like you to love. Yeah, I loving red. I'm just kidding. Well,
I love pink too, now, so I'm a girly girl.
I get it.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
I get it. Uh huh, yeah, you know. I love
pink and I love the what you call it, the color.
It's like pink and purple agenda. I think that's the
name of us. I like that color.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
I like that family of color, beautiful colors, as you
will say, because you know, I really believe color plays
a big impact on your move So that's why I
try to. I sometimes have for variations or time I
feel like band blacks, and there's time I feel like
being orange.
Speaker 6 (29:40):
You know, so very reason I feel your bad one.
Speaker 5 (29:50):
You do music, you're you do a lot of different projects,
and you're working on the new one. What kind of
legacy would you like to leave behind.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
I just want to continue to write songs and put
them out there. And I want, you know, my children,
my children's children, children, children, children to be able to say,
you know, my granny wrote that song or you know,
and hopefully is to be I have a vision that
(30:26):
I've written out, so I hopefully in praying that the
vision will come true and you know, just have let
the family have something that my family can and can
cling on to and you know say that like you
have his in our family. And I also want to
(30:51):
with the songs that I'm writing, I want to do
a lot of healing in my family because it seems
like we do you know, families today or have some stuff.
You know, all families have their stuff, and I just
want my music to bring the family together for healing.
(31:14):
I don't know from family, right, but.
Speaker 5 (31:17):
I get to like, you want to make sure there's
unity and you know, we have you know, a strong
communication bond. When one hurts, we all hurt.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
Yeah, Because I have this, I always have this fantasy
where this dream that I'm doing a big concert and
my family is like the special guests, and I just
I just want to minister to them and just let
us love on each other. And that's just one of
my dreams. I want, what's.
Speaker 5 (31:51):
Better way to minister to your family because they can
see how God has been good to you. That's beautiful.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
I love it exactly and exactly. And I have so
many gifted fingers and musicians and my family, and I
just want to see them, you know, be able to
explore their talent. And I want to be in a
position to be able to, you know, help them or
uh huh whatever they need. That's pretty much.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
That's beautiful. So reach one, teach one, and I said,
for it. That's beautiful. I love it. I really love it.
So what thing you like about La. That's one thing
that stands out.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
It's just so much to do. And you know, you know,
is you have so many opportunities here you can go.
I've you know, I've been on all the major networks,
different things, just and you when you work with different
to live you know, Will Smith, what different people you
(33:00):
know you work with. That's that part. The weather and
I say, it's it's good. The weather is pretty good.
But when it gets cold, it's cold.
Speaker 5 (33:16):
Oh are you near like the mountains? I have a
cousin that lives here, she said, girl gets cold out here.
Speaker 7 (33:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
Are you more near the mountain or in the city.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
We live in Marsas. I live in Monrovia and okay, okay,
uh huh you get cold you're near the mountains. Yeah,
so yeah, the weather it gets pretty cold. But then
you also have like you're different. Like right now we're
(33:49):
into the Dodgers. I'm surprised my family haven't yelled out
back now. But we go to dog.
Speaker 5 (33:58):
Oh you guys been the World Series. Look at that
versus New York. Now, since you're from New York, who
are you going for?
Speaker 2 (34:06):
You're from New York though, Oh I'm going for my Dodgers.
We got okay, okay, okay, Well we live right down
the road from the Stadius, so we go to their
games a lot.
Speaker 5 (34:17):
So you batter every ruddy You're going to be bulled, right,
you can't. You can't say the Yankees because that's a
really big wipberry La versus New York of any of
any team.
Speaker 7 (34:32):
Yeah, yeah, La has a lot and it has just
down like the traffic.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
I just the traffic alone would make you want to leave.
And it's just.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
How do you imagine your time while you're in the car.
You listen to music, or you listen to an audio book, or.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
What listen listening to music? Or maybe you know listening
to maybe I love to listen to this the minister
in my car and yeah, or I'm singing, singing a song,
rehearsing something like that.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
But it's.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
It's more so you have to if you if you
have to be somewhere, you have to leave super early.
And you know, because you never know when God forbid,
is an accident on the road, and then that's going
to back you up and you're just going to be
sitting there in traffic.
Speaker 5 (35:42):
So I remember, I used to live in Atlanta, so
I understand the traffic. Yeah, I think Atlanta got your guys,
So I'm sorry really, Oh yeah, because the reason why
I say this because we could be like, let's say,
for instance, it's on a weekend and it's still traffic.
(36:05):
It's crazy in Atlanta. Yeah, it's crazy if I think
all the time, all three sixty, I'm like down the
street from my house and it still takes me thirty
minutes to get there.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
If that's crazy.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
So yeah, but you both are big in traffic. Both
of you guys are still bigger trying. I have no traffic,
so I don't want to go back. Yeah, I'm just kidding.
You're amazing. I just love this conversation. I love your
(36:39):
meek mouse spirit and I could just tell that God
has been good to you.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
So I just want to thank you.
Speaker 5 (36:45):
I just want to for opportunity. How can people reach
out to you, sleek? How can people reach out to
you if they want to like book you or have
you come to see for them? How can I reach you?
Speaker 2 (37:02):
I have a flyer, a booking flyer, and also you
can and not my email and all my information is
up there. And also you know, of course you can
contact Jason because he said he's pretty much taking care
of a lot.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
Okay, you're on Facebook, cay, they contact on Facebook, Instagram? Okay?
How they can contact Jason on Facebook, Instagram LinkedIn because
you never know, we have a listener, so listen and
then they want to you know, reach out and hit
your booking and come sing with them or you know. Yeah,
(37:40):
how can they reach out to Jason station and to
have an email?
Speaker 2 (37:45):
Uh huh, but I'm not sure what it is.
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Okay, that's fine, that's fine. Fine, they could just Instagram.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Yeah, but they can just find me on Facebook Chilandro
Rapids and and on Instagram. I'm only Cheryl.
Speaker 5 (38:10):
Suiryl Okay, okay, is that your middle name Silandra?
Speaker 2 (38:16):
No, it's just sort for Solandra.
Speaker 5 (38:18):
Okay, go, I got you got? You got? That is
so pretty. You have the first some Soilandra. That is pretty.
How did did your mom ever tell you the reason
for your name? Or is there a many behind it?
It's very different.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
No, that's when my dad named me godch his son.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
Really did he name it after him?
Speaker 6 (38:42):
Or good?
Speaker 2 (38:45):
And I asked him, one dad's a daddy? Where did
you get my name from?
Speaker 5 (38:49):
He couldn't even tell me.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
He either he couldn't tell me or he wouldn't tell me,
but it was just all I was like, Okay, didn't
even know where you got my name from. But I'm
the oldest. I'm the oldest of four girls, and I
think I was the only one he.
Speaker 5 (39:06):
Named oh because I think the the mama was say, no,
I'm none the necessary because you ain't mate it separate,
so we don't want any more a different name.
Speaker 6 (39:17):
But it's so pretty.
Speaker 5 (39:18):
It's really pretty. It's really pretty. Though it's just different.
Speaker 7 (39:23):
But that is it's pretty.
Speaker 5 (39:25):
I know that one thing for sure. You can just
go buy that name and be on Google and no
one can, No one would have a proper find your
name that should be your artist. Yeah, you know, like Beyonce,
you have your name. You know, they be like okay,
yea name, okay because Beyonce is a different name. Yes, yeah,
(39:55):
I like it though. I could see it that could
be like a name that could a name for a
clothing line, very elegant. Yeah yeah, just for the s
have an S like in nice a nice as for
the logo. Oh yeah, and then you're remaining name.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
Yeah yeah, girl, you like you like your name? Girl?
Speaker 5 (40:22):
He didn't just know you. So what's that being said?
What kind of advice would you give people who are
who are interested in exploring the music industry, because now
you're finding so many different you know, stories about the
PDD and others. What kind of advice would you get?
Speaker 2 (40:46):
Oh? Yeah, definitely you stay true to God. You know,
I always put God first and evening. You know, I
have been into in some environments that they were actually
(41:07):
you thought they were Christian artists or whatever, but come
to find out it's like after parties were like crazy.
So and you just have to stay true to yourself
and know you know, know what you how you were
raised and know what's wrong what's right and what's wrong
(41:28):
and keep away from stuff like that, and and you know,
I just it's just so bad that so many people
sell out just to be famous, you.
Speaker 5 (41:45):
Know, and just one time money, Yeah, just to be
say the love of money is the root up all evil.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
That's exactly exactly.
Speaker 5 (41:56):
I remember. I'm gonna be honest. I remember I attended
one party when I've lived in Atlanta, but nothing like
a PDD party. But even that type of party, I
don't think I want to be a part of something
like this. Thank you neither, No, no, give me away.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
You're like, wow, you know when you start feeling uncomfortable,
you know it's time to go.
Speaker 5 (42:22):
Yeah, not my party. Seeing people doing drugs and you know,
if they're doing drugs out and olsa, what kind of
things they're doing in behind closed door. It's like, oh no,
that's all I need to see. I'm good. Yeah, I'm
afraid to take two things in my nose, like, oh no,
let me go and I'm get care of that stuff.
(42:44):
I was like, oh, I don't want to mess with
my brain. You can't the blows down, you can your
brain sell. I'm good.
Speaker 8 (42:54):
That's awesome advice because Unfortunately, you do have people who
are you know, very owners when it comes to finances,
so they would do anything that it takes to get
a little money.
Speaker 5 (43:05):
And food for the family. But that's good to let
them know that, to put God's first, because yeah, you
know it is. Yeah, it's the right interview.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 5 (43:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
Just just try to stay clean. And you know, of course,
work hard, work hard on your craft. And I try
to do something every day, you know, I try and
even if I'm busy or something, I still try to
(43:41):
find something to do that work was towards my music,
you know, because you always have to keep it or flow,
keep it going because you don't want it to get
pushed back. So constantly work on your craft. And and
just you know, enjoy and I wanted to I want
(44:06):
to say, and I heard this man say the other
day and I can't think of who it was. I
can't think who said that, but he said, enjoy the journey.
And I think that's awesome advice because you know a
lot of people that are so focused on getting to
the prize and getting to that they forget to enjoy
(44:27):
the journey and all the and and all this all
the stuff that you have to go through. You know,
some of it is not so good stuff, but some
of it's good stuff. Some of the things you're never
done before. Like I never had my thought in other
countries and I've never done that, and I'm enjoying. I'm
(44:48):
sitting back enjoying this, you know, So enjoy the journey
as you go along, and don't be so focused on
the priest. The pries will be there.
Speaker 5 (45:01):
I love that, thank you. I really love that. Because
if you focus on a price more so than the mission,
it gets you know, as they say, it gets kind
of cloudy. It's not really your passion. Yeah right, it
gets like a little dainted.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (45:28):
Oh my sister, it's been such a pleasure. And talking
to you. I'm gonna be honest, I have loved listening
to you because you.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
Have a great spiky boic.
Speaker 5 (45:36):
I love when I talk to people from the sop
I just love to hear y'all talk. Oh, keep talking
and talking. I love it. I love it. I have
brother tives in Mississippi. I just let them talk like.
I just love the way. But you don't sound like
you're from the city by all me, So I just
(45:57):
love how different accents like, I just thank you. You
have a beautiful spirit, so keep up the goat work,
and I know you are on their good care. Jason
is a really good person. So with that band said,
I just want to just thank you, my sister, for
you know, bringing your elegance and your spirit and you're wonderful, warm,
(46:23):
you just have a great overall you know, persona about.
Speaker 2 (46:29):
You and I can see you nowhere.
Speaker 5 (46:31):
Bumps up to the top because coming from New York, North.
Speaker 2 (46:36):
Carolina, now La, that's yeah, time.
Speaker 5 (46:41):
I'm to make city to a smaller city. That's back
to vic city.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Girl.
Speaker 5 (46:46):
You're good, but La and more busier than New York.
But New York just have a biggest city with lots
of people. But La is spread out with so many
different people.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Yeah yeah, hell now yeah. And I was recently in
New York. Uh maybe maybe a couple of months ago.
That was in New York. Daughter went down there for
a couple of days and we did We was on
the subway going different places, and I really enjoyed that.
I really enjoyed that time, Daniel.
Speaker 5 (47:26):
So with that being said, I'm going to bring on
my boss Jerry to see if he has any more questions.
You're just an amazing person. But were going to ask
you it's is okay if you pray out after he
cassed back. Okay, you know we gotta get a pray out. Jerry,
you got it anymore.
Speaker 3 (47:46):

my kid's been out there for four years, well I

I know I was it was a good place to
(48:06):
grow up. And I know you appreciate your parents exposing
you to that. You know. Yeah, all right, be ready
for our praying.
Speaker 5 (48:19):
And after we hang up, I'm about to listen to
your song on you too, the one you know that.
Speaker 2 (48:25):

(49:16):
that will help them along their journey. Thank you God
for so many blessings.
Speaker 5 (49:21):
Lord.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
We love you in Jesus Jesus name. We pray.

All right. Well, we appreciate you join us Tonay, miss Reeves,
and we wish you the best with your career and
keep doing what you're doing. And God definitely gonna bless you.
Like you said earlier, the prizes is the reward. You know,
you you work hard, you will be rewarded. So of
course it's not always about this. It's about the people
that you help on on your way out.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
Oh yes, yes, yes, that's right.
Speaker 3 (50:13):

Speaker 5 (52:54):
How are you doing, everybody? I mean a tailor with
this week's gospel news. Wicki Dillard is a chart topping
gospel singer, songwriter, producer, and Grammy nominee. He emerged in
the nineteen eighties from the house music scene with the
influences of R and B dance music, blues, jazz, and
(53:15):
black gospel.
Speaker 8 (53:16):
Ricky Dillard was born and raised in Chicago, where he
inherited his love of gospel music from his mother and
grandmother and started singing in the church choir at an
early age.
Speaker 5 (53:28):
Dillard soon began directing the youth choir in his church,
starting at the age of five, and later on he
moved on to the young adult choir. It was around
that time that Dillard came across two specific recordings that
inspired him to pursue gospel music more zealously. It was
James Cleveland and Aretha Franklin's Amazing Grace with the Southern
(53:51):
California Community Choir, also won by the Institutional Radio Choir
from Brooklyn, New York. Shortly thereafter, Dillard began drawing inspiration
from other gospel performers as well, including doctor Charles G. Hayes,
Marvin Yancey, Thomas Whitfield, Bishop Albert Jamison, and the Tribal
Mass Choir.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Dillard continued to direct choirs locally and was a member
of the Thompson Community Singers.
Speaker 5 (54:19):
Dillard began a recording career in secular music.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
Gospel remained in Dillard's heart.
Speaker 5 (54:25):
He was drawn to the recording studio in production
