lot because it is crazy times right now, that's right.
You don't know who's lurking, it's right, So just watch yourself.
Be careful for being on your phone and texting while
(01:43):
walking through the parking lot. Plus, people can't drive. I'm
one of them. I'm you know, parking lives. My wife
want me to drive around look for a spot. I
just don't no patience to be doing all that, So
sometimes I come pretty close to running people over with
my jeep. That's right, So beat deep watch out for
my jeep. Anyway, let's bring the beautiful Kelly Holland on.

Awesome? I'm speaking for everybody, Kelly. So, Kelly's been out shopping,
you know, spending that money the money you don't have.
Is that what you do?
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Exactly?
Speaker 5 (02:22):
Exactly exactly, man, Peter, come on, Matthew, kick it out, baby.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
People kept the paychecks before Christmas. I think the last
week the last paychecks they're gonna see a lot of
money spent in the nation.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Oh, poor people, poor people. Listen.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
I don't mind celebrating the holiday, but as I grow
as a you know, I want to know more about
his sirch it. I don't want to know more about
how to spend money and how to catch yourself. I
want to learn more about the sun, the sacrifice, the promise,
the playing in Uh's order. So that's what I'm thirsty
(03:12):
for right now, and that's what the holidays mean to me.
A certain network they have a Mary special going right now.
I don't know if you've seen it. That's my watching
write the story of Mary. I'm Mary Magla then that
we're talking about Jesus's mother.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
It's very Jesus.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
You know.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
I like to do my little research. That's that's my
documentary time, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
That's right, That's right. Anybody y'all hanging there, y'all hanging
in Batman, just chatting with Kelly for a little bit.
We got a special special guests tonight. Sonya Maguire is here.
She's a multi gifted international recording artist, song writer, producer
and musician and she is electrifying. We can't wait to
get a want to make Kelly's want to interview her.
(04:01):
And I'm just gonna sit back and listen. It should
be a good one. And before before you know, let
her in again. Go out and check on my Facebook page.
When everybody be careful out there, because you know, you know,
there's a lot of stuff going on. They're seeing drones
flying around, all kinds of stuff.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
High tech thieves out here.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Man, they just sneak up on you while you're not
looking and grab your pocket.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
But man, come on, Lord be fans, for give me
my safety bubble. I like when the Lord keeps me
so far away from all of that real life danger
we see on the news. Hallelujah and fall and thank
you for your mercy. I don't run into stuff like that,
and I'm grateful. I guess my life is weird enough. Okay,
watcha well well in Batman's word, beat beep, watch out.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Beat, right, you know the firny thing that I said,
beat beat, But actually my horn hasn't been working for
a while. And I was talking about mechanic and he
said it's gonna be like almost fifteen hundred. I was
a fix the horn because I asked her. I said,
this is my most important question. You know, this is
my most important question before I dropped this money on you.
Does the air bag work? She said, is that the
(05:10):
airbag sens is not on, so it's working. I said
what I said, Look, I only need the horn one
time in three minutes, so they needed it one time
and that was as the baby Briso guys with Karl
lawnmow was cut in front of me. But I don't
want to.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Wrack up your morals. Get a little one. It's like,
do I you need a horn? Times?
Speaker 1 (05:36):
I asked, can I hook up? I'm about to go
to utb C. If I can hold up one air
horns for about three hundred dollars, that's all I need.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
I grew up.
Speaker 5 (05:47):
You're gonna have it attached to the outside with a
little blade.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
I think, don't they pull a cord to do that?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Man, I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
I'm about to check it out.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
I'm sure you'll send me.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
I'm quite sure that that's gonna be a lot cheaper
than putting the clock spring and just to have a horn.
I was like, all that time I thought my air
bag wasn't working. She said, No, your air bag is working.
That's all I need to know.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Do I need a horny cool? No?
Speaker 1 (06:22):
I got the big jeep. T ain't a little jeep.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
I know.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
That's right, A thousand towns man. Anyway, something I need
to know anyway, all right, Sonya and Sonia and the queue.
Hey man, Sonia, welcome to Late Night with Jervis Left.
We're rnning Kelly Holland. How you doing tonight?
Speaker 6 (06:46):
I'm great. How are you guys doing?
Speaker 1 (06:48):
You know we're crazy in Baltimore.
Speaker 6 (06:51):
I love it. I love it.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Normal, honey, Yeah, we are good. We're so happy to
have you. You're reading your bio. It sound like you
a musical genius.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
Man, God is amazing. It's all I say.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
That's all that needs to be.
Speaker 6 (07:14):
That's it, that's it. Can't ever go wrong.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
That's right. That's right. Well, look, I'm gonna sit back
because I know this is gonna be a good one,
gonna be a good one. I'm gonna sit back and
a joy and you guys have a great show and
I'll see you at the end. Amen, Thank man.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Thank you so much, and thank you for joining us
this evening. For you said our listen, who you are
and what it is.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
That you did.
Speaker 7 (07:38):
Man, my name is Sony Maguire and I am from
the great city of Atlanta, Georgia. Preacher's kids grew up
in the church. You know, music is literally one of
the greatest gifts that God has given me thus far
to being able to write and sing and play different
(07:58):
instruments and you know, being able to experience.
Speaker 6 (08:01):
It on multiple levels. So I'm thankful for the gift.
Speaker 7 (08:04):
I'm thankful for the blessing that has been bestowed upon
me to be able to do what it is that
I love to do for him.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Amen, Well, thank you so much that we get a
treat at your show this evening. I'm always curious about
the creative process, especially with your pks, because you know,
from the outside looking at our regular Sunday church go is.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
You you was always in the church? Like, how's that
pressure of being a PK.
Speaker 7 (08:34):
I mean, it was definitely interesting growing up, but I
think you get used to it. I always say this
to people because they, you know, Preacher's kids always have
like a bad stigma. But the cat's fortitude to that
is that for me, my parents did not play, so
we were not the ones that the first time, spinning
the night at anyone's house.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
I was married, So my parents did not say running
the streets, are doing anything.
Speaker 7 (09:04):
Crazy?
Speaker 6 (09:04):
If you will you know what I'm saying. We you know,
they didn't play that. You know, we weren't.
Speaker 7 (09:09):
We couldn't need anybody's house. I mean, we grew up starch,
you know, church God in Christ, and my parents not
like that.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
Oh you said, yes, yes, there, you know what. That's
how my church is, right. And so wait, man, the
smaller church, they they all giving it to the Lord.
Everybody's having the Holy Ghost. And then when I go
to my big church, you might have a runner. You
got to run at your church.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
Three.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
Yeah, I love it, I said, they getting them steps in.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (09:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
So what what made you want.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
To do music?
Speaker 5 (09:52):
With all of your talents and all the things that
you can juggle in this industry?
Speaker 2 (09:56):
What made you want to be the talent?
Speaker 6 (09:59):
Well?
Speaker 7 (09:59):
You know what, It's actually was not something that I
really ever saw myself doing growing up. You know, I
watched my siblings, do you know, such an amazing job
singing and playing instruments and writing and so forth. So
it wasn't initially my choice, but you know, God saw
fit I didn't have a choice anymore, kind of sitting
in the back. My father, you know, saw the gift
(10:23):
that God had placed in me, and you know, my
my my favorite place was hiding in the back, having
you know, like you know, being in the background, you know, forefront,
you know. But but you know, God saw differently, so
I kind of got pushed out. There wasn't something that
I saw myself doing because I didn't like to be
(10:43):
in the line light or the front of people doing anything,
you know, but God saw differently, So you know, that's
how I kind of ended up, you know, starting early
playing instruments at my father's church and then leading worship
up in choir and all that, and then my father
also had us singing at a very young age, so
(11:07):
you know, it was kind of like the unofficial you know,
family business if you were the music piece, because we
didn't have a choice in it. You gonna do something,
You're gonna.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
Do something, amen, So let me ask is it normal?
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Well? Why is it normal? Dush and started like that.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
Did you have the experience of when you kind of
just shunned away from the church or I'm gonna like
live my own life and maybe no God for myself
or any type of life looking bag reflections, did you
ever have those thoughts?
Speaker 6 (11:47):
Well?
Speaker 7 (11:48):
I never left the church, I guess because once I
got in it and learned who God was, as you
grew up in it, you get to have a personal
relationship and you get to know Him for yourself and
not through so of course growing up, you know, it's
kind of like you don't have a choice but to
be in you know, or to hear about. But once
you experience them for yourself and you go through some things,
(12:10):
you learn them in a real way, and not just
through mom and dads, not just believe in told all
your life, but you get to experience the firsthand. So
I never never had those moments or those times where
I did not want to be, you know, or I
did not want to you know, be in his mist
or allow him to leave to God and everything in life.
Speaker 6 (12:31):
You know.
Speaker 7 (12:33):
Not that girl, you know, yeah, yeah, not that girl,
because I just believe, you know, with with with God
being who he is and he does what he does,
so well who am I, you know, to put my
hands or try to be or to leave you know,
from being covered by him, you know, with the grace
and mercy that's given to us each and every single day.
(12:55):
For me, it's just one of those things where you know,
those the things that would happen, it would similarly try
to push you away. It brought me closer to him.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
You know what, That's an amazing story. You don't hear
it that often.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
I'm always interested in the fall off, like the fall
off five makes us when you come back that reckoning moment.
You know, people say they got saved sitting in their
car at the stop sign and all the all different
type of ways, and so I'm always curious about how
that coming back is story is.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
But for you, you said, honey, I've been obedient from
the day.
Speaker 7 (13:30):
Oh yeah, but now, don't get me wrong. It's definitely been.
Speaker 6 (13:33):
Some trying time, some challenging times.
Speaker 7 (13:36):
But in those times, you know, you know where your
strength comes from, you know.
Speaker 6 (13:41):
So for me that that's definitely been it.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
You know, large family. I see you had fourteen siblings.
Where's your party?
Speaker 1 (13:51):
There?
Speaker 6 (13:51):
Your number one, I'm number thirteen.
Speaker 7 (13:54):
That is I'm number thirteen. Listen number thirteen. So we
literally are the real life Brady Bunch.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
My mother and my father.
Speaker 7 (14:06):
Both had children before their south passed when they got married.
So when they got married, they had the hours. Hey man,
five of the Mohicans that you will listen.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
I'm for the blended family. And we called it to
the brother, mother and.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
Father exactly exactly. And that's why I asked what number
you was, because I number nine too. I say number one,
three and five they might go get it. You don't
got to worry about their schoolwork. But two and four,
God bless their hut.
Speaker 6 (14:40):
They about no school.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
Don't want to hear about no school. What is school?
Speaker 5 (14:48):
It's always cute watching the different habits that you all developed.
And that's a big old family. I mean, what about
school beef. You always see somebody that that's dope, way
better than old the child and nobody messing with you.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Y'are deep?
Speaker 6 (15:03):
Okay, we're definitely deep. Boy.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Yes, praise God. That's a blessing, I know. So when
did you finally get to well, you said you was married,
when you got to have your own.
Speaker 7 (15:20):
When I say that they didn't play.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
I'm thinking of privacy and all types sur mess that
that wasn't happening.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Did you off college?
Speaker 7 (15:29):
My father? We were actually we actually grew up.
Speaker 6 (15:32):
We had my father.
Speaker 7 (15:32):
We had a large house. You know, we grew up
my father and mother too very very.
Speaker 6 (15:36):
Good care of us.
Speaker 7 (15:37):
Now we were never all in the house at the
same time because there's large which is well, yeah, I
have nieces that are older than me.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
That's not my kids. But I ran you gotter by title?
Speaker 6 (15:54):
You're going to respect me by title. Listen here, I'm trying.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
To better recognized.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
But thellelujah, I haven't always been in church. Was there
ever a moment where you just felt like my parents
raised me up? But now I have my own relationship
with God. When did that occur for you?
Speaker 7 (16:19):
I mean literally, I guess the older I got, the
more prevalent God became in my life personally because of
the fact that that I you know, again, getting to
know Him for myself. You know, I've had, I mean
multiple testimonies that I can tell you where you know,
I knew God as a healer, you know what I'm saying.
(16:41):
I knew God has a waymaker. I mean, I've got
the experience in so many ways that brought me closer
to him.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
You know me?
Speaker 7 (16:52):
Well, I mean I don't I preached submiss it some
years ago.
Speaker 6 (16:55):
It happened. But there's no evidence.
Speaker 7 (16:58):
And I and I said that because we don't look
like half of the things that we've been through in
our life. You know, we know we have the memory,
but there are no scars that look like.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
What we've been through.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
I've been through.
Speaker 7 (17:11):
I've been through cancer, you know I've been through. Even
with that, being told, well, the surger you have a
fifty to fifty chance whether or not you'll be able
to talk again, you know, let alone whisper. And at
the time, you know, I sing, I write, this is
what I do exactly.
Speaker 6 (17:29):
For life.
Speaker 7 (17:29):
And it's like to hear those words and then to
have cancer, you know, and being cut some side to
side from your throat and having tubes coming out, and
you're looking at it and you're writing, I'm writing because
I can't speak louder than a whisper. When when when
(17:51):
when you can't.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Verbally say Jesus, how about that?
Speaker 7 (17:54):
And when you're in the hospital and when you feel
the pained and when you're looking at these situations that
cause you to doubt, but you said, fast in your
faith and knowing that all things have to work out.
You promise you in his word, you know, And when
you begin and I'm the one that I was in.
I've been in situations where I have to think of
(18:16):
the goodness of Jesus, and when I can't speak, I
can think and I can pray. A different thing when
you're going through some things yourself and you have to
experience Him in that way. And it's no longer Mama
and Daddy is no longer the pastor, is no longer
(18:38):
everybody else in church. But the reality is is that
it's you and Him better knowing ready to get you
know how to get a press. There's another time where
I was singing and running a lot, and I was
going in and out of the country at the time,
and I had gotten back to the safe and found
(19:01):
myself sick. Didn't know what was going on. But because
I was running so much, you know, I was neglecting
to take care of me, which I tell for a
lot of time self care is the best kid learned
to love on. You learn to take care of it,
make sure that you're taking care of and and and
making sure that you are well. But I was running, running, running,
(19:22):
and hadn't stopped to take care of me and found
out the hard way.
Speaker 6 (19:27):
I went to scene, came home.
Speaker 7 (19:30):
Didn't feel good and couldn't get out of bed. One
of my friends had called to check on me, and
at the time, you know, my son was like, Mama,
Mama hadn't been out of the bed.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
My frim was like, what, that's not.
Speaker 7 (19:43):
Like your mom, and he came came over to check
on me, and they called the ambulance and missing. You know,
I'm rushed to the hospital. I was life right, life
flighted from being lasonia all the way to North Side House.
I had double them on you, both my lungs and
(20:05):
oh yeah, and at that time my lungs literally were
drowning in fluid. The doctors has said that I had
a twenty percent chance of ligit.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
And I'm I'm.
Speaker 7 (20:16):
Conscious and I'm listening to them all the things that
were going on. My heart rate had gotten so bad
and so low, and all the things that they were
doing to me, you know, intubating me and everything else.
And I'm thinking, because I can't say anything, but I'm
streaming in my mind.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, that's all you can't say, So.
Speaker 7 (20:36):
Listen, I'm thinking. I'm thinking because I could not open
up my mouths of verbally speak, but I'm thinking.
Speaker 6 (20:47):
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, because at the time.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
Again, that's why I say you better listen. If you
don't know nothing else, you better know how to get
a pressing, how you know, you better have a relationship
with him outside of just when you need something. You know,
so me getting myself on so many different occasions that
(21:13):
he's been more than just a provider, more than just
a healer, more.
Speaker 6 (21:19):
Than just opening up doors, more than just making waves.
But he's he's been mind blowing in my life.
Speaker 7 (21:26):
He's done some amazing things.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
And we thank you for sharing your miracles because I'm
not gonna a testimony just it is a testimony of
the miracles.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
Hallelujah.
Speaker 6 (21:36):
Listen, listen.
Speaker 7 (21:37):
The list goes on. I'm telling you, the list goes on.
God has done so much for me.
Speaker 6 (21:45):
God has do so.
Speaker 7 (21:46):
Much for my family. And when I tell you, it
is and it's not just me. And I've got testimonies out.
The testimonies, well, I've given them and told that I
wouldn't walk again from from spining cord injuries in my back.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
But I'm walking.
Speaker 7 (22:01):
I never looked like suffered anything, never looked like I
ever walked on the cane. Never looked like I was
in a wheelchair or being past having extreme pain or
having to get shopped in my spine. Don't look like it,
it happens.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Don't look like exactly.
Speaker 5 (22:19):
And that's what makes us strong and leaning on those
past times when we were saved by the Father, leaning
on those times where He was always there for us,
and not subjecting ourselves to doubt.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
That's that's right.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
The doubt creeps in and we don't let God do
what he does. And then you gotta walk around that
mountain for forty more years. That mountain I have to
be taking that. That's over and over again. But praise God,
you have some new music out.
Speaker 7 (22:54):
I do, I do, I do.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Tell us about it.
Speaker 7 (22:59):
Man, he's a reason. I have a few Christmas singles
out that I've realie previously that he's a reason especial
to me just because the last, you know, a few
holidays have been interesting for me, losing my mother and
my father and then my brother the last three years consecutively.
But he's a reason really helps us to refocus. A
(23:20):
lot of times we get caught up in the hustle
and the bustle of the holiday season, and we sometimes
really just forget about what it really is about. And
it's about him. You know, He's the real reasons. Not
for gifts, not to toys and everything that we really enjoy.
But he's a reason not getting lost in those things,
(23:43):
but even showing love and kindness and you know, doing
things for others, putting a smile on somebody he's face,
showing the unconditional love that was shown, the great and
mercy that were given each and every day to others
during this holiday season.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
You know.
Speaker 7 (23:59):
So just you know, a song that I fairly enjoyed writing,
fairly enjoy sharing, you know, and and and you know,
pray that it blesses everybody else that is you know,
able to hear it, Why to it clean up, enjoy,
hang out friends, Christmas? Whatever it is, but just an
(24:20):
encouraging and uplifting song, right.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
I see here that your you have a blend of
a sound.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
It's not just traditional Baptist or or Christian music. And
I like that, you know why, because we're out here
doing the best we can to share the message, to
bring the sheep. In matter of fact, I'm not even
gonna consider myself a shepherd. I'm a sheep too lost, right,
and then we have these we have these people that
(24:51):
are blessed with these gifts, and they're able to reach
other masses by the talents and the creativity that's been
bestowed upon them. So when you make your music, you're
drawing more people into the Savior. As you make your songs,
you're drawing more people into Him. And I like how
versatile the message has become. You know, we got it
in music, we got it on shirts, we got it
(25:12):
on clothes, we got it in the sanctuary, it's online,
it's on YouTube, it's accessible, it's everywhere.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
I'm grief, I'm grateful.
Speaker 5 (25:21):
You can't say you can't grow in Christ because it's everywhere.
So if you just keep living, you'll see. We'll definitely see.
Just keep on living. I always wonder about the creativity
process when you make your music. You said you write
your own music. How are you inspired by songs? Is
(25:44):
it a different way each time, or how does that
process really happen?
Speaker 7 (25:49):
Believe it or not, All things come from above. I'm
just a vessile. The journey with music with me, it
literally comes from you know, not just experiences, but also
what God has given me.
Speaker 6 (26:07):
You know I'm writing in my car.
Speaker 7 (26:10):
Chas orsm souther Saason, I.
Speaker 6 (26:14):
Hear it, you know.
Speaker 7 (26:16):
So I begin to sing and I'm I always have
my recorder with me, so you know, I literally have,
you know, my recorder and I'm recording. So when I
when I get the stable in a situation, I'm able
to you know, finish that song and then I go
in with the music and the you know, the production
(26:38):
of it, you know, and then you know it all
comes together.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Literally, amen. Amen.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
Has the process changed from creating the music from when
you first started?
Speaker 7 (26:52):
I'll say no, I think you know, with experience, you
you growth, you definitely say, with you definitely grow. I've
always been very eclectic in my sound, very eclectic in
my approach because for me, I love just music in general.
I love all things I do. I love music, so
(27:16):
every style I love. And you know, I started out
on keys and drums, but drums my music. Yeah, a
lot of my music you're gonna hear kind of a
little drum heavy love, you know. So you know, for me, again,
you get better when you love learning and growing with
(27:39):
music and in music, you know, it always starts there
for me because I write, you know, as well as
produce and play instruments, so all of those things, you know,
even you know, going with the vocal arrangements and things
of that nature. Being creative, and how can I post
this differently than what you might normally hear, you know,
(27:59):
just because for the fact that that I'm, you know,
just as a creative person. I love being created. I
love evolving sounds and evolving songs and lyrics and approaching
things differently. But overall, when it comes to creating, it's still,
you know, you still got to go through certain processes
that you know won't really changed, if that makes sense.
Speaker 6 (28:22):
You still have to write it. You still to write.
You still got to get it out, you.
Speaker 7 (28:25):
Know, and then you still have to arrange it, and
then arranging it, you know, before you you know, complete
your structure, and then you got to add you know,
everything else to it. So you know, it's still it's
still it's still pretty much the same bone bare bone
process everything.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
Else you're coloring you yes.
Speaker 5 (28:43):
Okay, okay, cool, it's see it that you're a founder
of for community organizations. Please give us some type of
answer men about all four if you can, please.
Speaker 7 (28:55):
Absolutely absolutely so thing for a cure It's something that
I did because I had started noticing a lot of
friends and family were struggling with uh different types of cancers,
and I felt like there was something that I could
do to be a blessing to those that were dealing
with cancer. So seeing Partier came about.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
Some years ago.
Speaker 7 (29:19):
A lot of my friends in the industry, from Tashikab
to Bishop William Murphy, Iona.
Speaker 6 (29:26):
Crawley, a lot of my a lot of.
Speaker 7 (29:30):
My friends in the industry came on board, would come
and sing and help us to raise funds where we
would blessed those that either had a parent that had
passed away from cancer or were currently battling cancer, or
we helped that person that was battling cancer to purchase groceries,
pay their bills, whatever it was there was a need for.
(29:53):
We've helped get cars repaired, We've helped, you know, with
with getting them assistance in the home when they're dealing
was you know, going through chemo. You know, different groups
that were not going through the process of trying to
get their five oh one done. So we get, yeah,
(30:13):
a lot to help those that were battling, dealing with
or even even the children. So we were doing that
every year, and God would meet us there and blow
our minds because so many different companies partnered with us.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
From Chick fil A to from Delta.
Speaker 7 (30:31):
We were able to even give you know, different things
away to the families as well as there's a restaurant here,
Big Daddy. So many restaurants and different and were able, Yeah,
sponsored and came together and assisted us in helping those
families and blessing those families. During that time, I took
(30:52):
a great when I lost my mom. I took a
break for a couple of years, but I'm getting back
to it. Twenty twenty five.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
Is going to be an I'm blowing.
Speaker 7 (31:00):
Year because we're definitely getting back into it, all hands
on deck, all boots on the grounds, and.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
We're all being like never before.
Speaker 7 (31:09):
I think it's an initiative for young people to help
them make choices, realizing that they're not only effects later,
but it effects now.
Speaker 6 (31:19):
And that really is.
Speaker 7 (31:22):
An initiative to really get them to think about their choices,
their life choices. You know about their about what they do,
you know, mind, body and soul and the importantness. You
know how important it is for them to to to
choose you know, the right path to choose the right
things how to enhance their life, not doing things that
(31:43):
will take away from So that's something because I've always
worked with trouble teams, you know, and took time out
just to kind of mentor and to help and to
and to gear them in the right direction, you know,
the later, you know. So that's protect thing. Blessed to
be a blessing, We'll go out, we'll get our have
(32:06):
events where we would actually come together and literally bring
non perishable goods as well as things needed for female
necessities as well as male We would get those back
together pillows, blankets, coats, and shoes, and we would go
(32:26):
out and be a.
Speaker 6 (32:27):
Blessing to those that were homeless, that were in the.
Speaker 7 (32:30):
Process of whether it was you know, transitioning from a
transitional home into or the Yeah, we were blessing those
that were in need. Because our less to be a blessing,
it is not just about us keeping everything we have
to us, but reaching out to the communities to really
(32:54):
be able to make a difference and to make an
impact because we.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Need each other, we need exactly.
Speaker 6 (33:03):
I feel like it's imperative to do that.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Palms of thanks, somes of.
Speaker 7 (33:08):
Thanks, yeah, sums of Thanks. I do an event every
year called so Thankful. It's a smaller level than thing
for a cure, but Somems of Thanks literally around Thanksgiving,
we get together and we bless families that are in
need for Thanksgiving with meals for Thanksgiving so their family
(33:30):
can enjoy, you know, as well during the season. Because
a lot of times people don't realize no matter what
this economy goes through, they're gonna always be people that
are going through situations that are different than yours that
may be in need. So we always try to extend,
you know, helping hand to those that are less fortunate,
which is somes of things.
Speaker 5 (33:49):
Hey man, honey, you are busy, busy, busy, busy, and
I love the service that you're giving to the community.
I love that you're reaching youth at risk, adults at risk,
US homelessness, people that are doing time but they need
some help. Everybody's welcome, That's what I see here. Everybody's welcome.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
If you have a.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
Need, we have a foundation that can come and make
things a little easier for you. And I love the
fact that you're able to partner with well known names
the gospel industry that that that gives it a help,
it gives it a bush and people can resonate with that,
and so that's.
Speaker 7 (34:31):
Okays of their time, exactly, talent for the purpose of
being a blessing and sowing into others lives mm.
Speaker 5 (34:42):
Hmm, exactly, and sharing that gift that was given unto
you from above always can be taken away, but because
of your faithfulness and God, you are blessed with that
gift and you are able to help others move closer
and grow closer in Him.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Do you feel like your sound is changing?
Speaker 7 (35:05):
I won't say changing. I've always been a very eclectic artist.
So of course, I being born and raised in the Church,
I'm going to always have my roots. There's always going
to be a traditional sound there. But I also again
love all thousand types of music. So because of that,
I'm very colorful, so you may hear so for example,
(35:28):
I have a song called Everlasting Life that I released
some years ago. Everlasting Life is very churchy, but it
has some jazz standards on the lead. But you're gonna
hear a mixture or some mashups.
Speaker 6 (35:40):
If you will.
Speaker 7 (35:41):
But I just always been very creative when it has
come to the musical process. But there's always going to
be something for everybody in it, because I feel like
we get so far away from one thing and so
much into an other and then we missed, you know,
(36:02):
something here, or we are we over indoor or over
end golf in one side. But I just believe there's.
Speaker 6 (36:10):
Something for everybody.
Speaker 7 (36:10):
So for me, i'm I'm I'm very versatile, so no
matter what it is. I have some some clips recently
where I did my new songs He the Reason at
an event for a Kingdom one and it was amazing.
The band was amazing, so yes, yes, and we did
(36:32):
a they did a house mixed on it like jazz,
so amazing, you know, and people people love it, you know,
they're on my on my idea, all my faces saying, man,
this this was amazing, So you know it was it was,
you know, it was amazing. But it is, you know,
(36:53):
it's just being able to be versatile and really enjoying
what it is that you do and stretching out.
Speaker 5 (37:00):
I like that sound of God isn't It's not a
cookie cutter sound anymore. I'm glad for the versatility, you know,
because music is versatile, music is international, music is common,
and we can all learn through music, we can all
experience through.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Music, and the fact that it's.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
Not just one way and you don't have those onlookers
with all their opinions, you know. So I'm grateful to
where the you know, the songs of Christ have evolved to.
And I'm grateful for all the artists that can keep
up with the trends, honey and show us how they
are still relevant when it comes to the sound of Christ,
how they can still get their message across. And it's
(37:43):
not with the Kirk Franklin Choir, you know. And there
might be songs for the choir, but maybe there's another
song where you can knock that out and lay your
vocals and have that beat going and put it face up.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (37:56):
Amen, It's something for everybody. So, I mean, you know,
it's a blessing.
Speaker 6 (38:02):
To be able to be versatile.
Speaker 7 (38:04):
It's a blessing to be able to you know, because
I've been at I've been in services, I've been you
know where I did like a eighty.
Speaker 6 (38:12):
Year old birthday party, y'all want me.
Speaker 7 (38:15):
I was like, yeah, so that I did some of them.
I did should have thought about it. And when I
tell you those those uh, those Seasoned Saints, one of
the wanted to hang out and want to have a
good time and the songs that ever requesting and I'm like, hey,
let's go, let's get it.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
You know, you know, and again.
Speaker 7 (38:35):
It's it's it's the thing of not being in a
box and not allowing yourself to be limited to just
what you know, your your reaches. I believe God, God
is everything you know, and I like, you know, the
gift that He gave me was in a box. He
gave me this creative you know, ability to do what
(38:59):
I do. I don't I want to allow myself to
limit me.
Speaker 5 (39:05):
You better not not That guess gove you the glory.
I'm telling you, hey man, we are at that point
where it's time for you to plug away, honey. Share
with our audience how they can reach you, how they
can support you, any events you got coming up, websites,

Because I remember it was. It was a family was
in my neighborhood. I grew up with it. They had
like twelve siblings, you know, six boys, six girls, something
like that. And they can play all sports, they could sing,
play instruments, they did everything.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
She said.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
The Lord they were like the best dancing, they were
the fastest in the neighborhood, the best dances, dunk backwards,
all that stuff. They were like twelve, how do you
do it? Incredible?
Speaker 5 (43:04):
Incredible, It's so crazy.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
It was funny. But they was they want homies though,
because one of them made it, made it to the
uh TO Pro Football League. To the running back. That's
what he was like. He was in his thirties.
