(00:00):
You have something special, you havegreatness in you. Hello, this is
Less Brown. I want to havea conversation with you. We are needless
to say, in a very strangeplace, a place where we have never
been before, and I want totalk to you about how do you maintain

(00:27):
your sanity, how do you keepa grip, how do you find peace
in the midst of a storm.I remember when when I was first diagnosed
with cancer and the doctor said thatit was fourth stage and I had to

(00:50):
give a speech. I was preparingto go up to motivate and inspire people,
and at the same time, Ifelt that I could feel the breath
of death, old man death, breathing on the back of my neck.

(01:11):
And as I was standing backstage,my son was with me. He knew
what I was going through. Heknew that I was in a lot of
pain, and he didn't say anything. And it was a short distance from
the back of the curtains to themicrophone, and it took them some time

(01:36):
to get me up. And Iasked him later, why did you say
anything to me to motivate me,to encourage me. He said I did,
And I said, what was that? He said, I opened the
curtain, and I allowed you tosee the microphone, and it was only

(02:00):
four steps to the microphone, andI knew once you saw the microphone,
something was going to happen. AndI said, like what he said,
your eyes got wide and you becameoblivious of your pain. And when they
called your name, you walked outand grabbed the microphone. I said,

(02:23):
you know, or to knock youout. Well, that was a good
strategy on his part, because thepresence of mind on what I was about
to do possessed means much sore thanwhat was told to me. And at
this point in time, more thanever where people have lost their jobs.

(02:47):
Said and then they announced a lockdown, and you can't even go out and
look for a job, and billsare stacking up, and you have to
deal with how do you how doyou keep yourself together in the midst of
that this uncertainty, and our leadersare giving us all type of confusing messages.

(03:15):
And here's what I can share withyou, based upon how I've been
weathering a variety of storms in mylife. Number one is still here.
And what we have to do eachand every day is wake up in a
spirit of gratitude that all things worktogether for good for those who love God.

(03:42):
And to know that as long asyou have a pulse or come on
out, as long as you arebreathing, that that your next miracle is
just around the corner. I stronglybelieve something that Stacy ncy Grant said.
She said, action, action, despite the distractions, that this is a

(04:05):
time that we don't have the luxuryof wallowing in what has gone wrong or
what's happening to us. What we'vegot to begin to understand that everything that
is happening right now is happening forus. They might mean it for evil,

(04:25):
but God means it for good. And that as we have this spirit
of optimism that everything, in spiteof the circumstances, judge not according to
appearances, in spite of the situation, that everything is going to work out

(04:46):
all right. I can't prove it. I have no evidence to point to
and say this is where I'm standingbecause of this. No, no,
I have nothing that can substand shatethe statement and the position. Therefore take
unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand
in the evil day, that, having done all to stand. No,

(05:11):
no, no, here's what I'msaying that in each and every one of
us, there's a presence, there'sa power. Come on. Doctor Howard
Thurman, who was a mentor ofdoctor Mark Luther King Jr. And Howard
Thurman, spoke some words. Hesaid, there's something in each and every
one of us that waits and listensto the voice of the genuine in yourself.

(05:35):
And if you cannot hear it allof your life, your days will
be spit on the ends of strainsthat somebody else pulls. And I say
that you're listening to me right nowbecause you've decided to pull your own straights.
You've decided not to allow yourself toreact to all the winds of life.

(05:58):
You've decided the stand up inside yourselfand experience that peace that passeth all
human understanding. There's a knowing insideof you that no matter how bad it
is or how bad it gets,I'm going to make it. And what
you have to do during this time, more so than ever before, it

(06:19):
is to bolster your faith by readingthings that encourage you, that inspire you,
that listen to things that can buildyou from the inside out. That
you turn off the television and allthe negative news There's a play that had
a song in a call, don'tlet nobody bring me no bad news.
This is the time that you wantto saturate yourself with positive messages that can

(06:45):
empower you, that can help youfeel good about yourself, that can give
you a spirit of a victory withinyourself where you say thank you, Father,
I got through it. Thank youfor bringing me through. Thank you
for giving me the power hour toweather this storm and all the storms that
are ahead of me. Thank youfor ordering my steps. Yes, thank

(07:08):
you, thank you. Yes,that's what we must move with the spirit
of gratitude. All things work together, Yes they do, Yes they do.
You have something special. You havegreatness in you. That's my story

(07:30):
and I'm sticking to it. Thishas been missus Mamie Brown's baby boy.
