Speaker 1 (00:00):
We got a question for American mama's on a scale

(00:02):
of one to ten, with ten being the absolute happiest
ever and one being the most depressed ever. Where do
you think you would rate your baseline happiness? Well, let's
ask our American mama's.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Mamma Mama.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
And joining us now our American mama's Terry Ediville and
Kimberly Burleson. Okay, so scale of one to ten, this
is baseline happiness?

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Is this?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
I guess this is just kind of where you are
on an average day. Is that what we're saying here?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Okay, so, and I've got a companion question that's going
to follow this up. But all right, Terry, where do
you think your baseline is?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Easily during the day, I'd say eight.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
An eight eight, you're just kind of happy and joll
it takes yeah, And Kimberly, where's yours?

Speaker 4 (00:52):
I feel like I'm a nine ten for the most part.
I do. I do. There's this TikToker that goes around
and he asks people are you happy? He just walks
up to ran of people, and it's it breaks my
heart because there's so many people that are like, no,
I'm not, I'm not happy at all, and it's like,
start listening all their things. But the people that he
asks and they say are you happy, they're like absolutely,
And he's asked why, and they're always like, because I'm alive,

(01:14):
because the sun is shining. It's like and there you
see this aura about them that's just.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Just happy lack of goodness.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
But I understand there are times there's situational depression, and
so I may be happy nine a nine to ten.
Most of the time I have those twos. You know,
you have the times that you're low, and to me
it's totally different. Baseline is pretty much I'm a happy
person with moments of.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
That was going to be my other part of this
question is not just where your baseline is, and of
course it's being a nerd, I'm thinking in statistics terms,
So what is your standard deviation from that? So like
you won all the way from a nine down to a.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Two, I wouldn't say that, maybe that's a little bit
too far, but i'd say four, okay, you know, five
being even keel, but a four being okay.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah, you know, for me, it's like she said, it's situational.
I'm a really happy person. It takes a lot. Yeah,
I mean, Kevin can come in with one line and
get me down to a two.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
You know, I won't get into it over something.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Still, I would absolutely imagine that your range is larger
than Kimberly's.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
It's like I'm up, up, up, and then if somebody
crushes my heart, then I'm down.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
I'm low. It breaks my heart, right, and so what
about you?

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Honestly, I probably sit about a six, and I will
go maybe down to a four and a half, and
I will go up maybe.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
To a seven and a half, but never above that.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I don't really have huge ranges anymore. I used to
when I was younger. I don't really, But I'll tell
you what I have is I walk around with like
a nine in piece. So I don't. I think there's
too much going on in my head on a regular
basis of this is where this is heading, and this

(02:58):
is what I've got to accomplish here. I've got to
do this of the thing here that there's a lot
that's going on up there, Uh for me to just
be walking around going. But I don't get too high
and I don't get too low anymore. And I do
walk around going. You know, whatever it's gonna be, it's
gonna be fine.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Right and well in peace, Trump's happiness.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
That's where I am so like, you know, I can,
I can just tap into joy as I need to.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
That's even that's even greater.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
So so it's it's my my baseline's lower probably than y'alls.
But at the same time, my range is lower, and
I don't get as low as I used.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
To, I think innately, you know, I'm just a happy person.
I've always I've always been like that. It it really
does take a lot to make me feel very sad,
but I think a lot of that. I wonder, Kimberly,
if you feel the same way. Is who raised us
the mindset that they gave us. Having parents, we lived

(03:55):
in a bubble until college. Basically, you know, we we
weren't allowed to watch too much or listen to too much,
and so we were constantly pumped with you know, God's
grace and look what God has in store for you,
and well they were grateful for everything.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Let's have full kind of people. Yeah, that's what we
grew up with.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
So you know, it's interesting because I married somebody who
I guess he would say this too. He's more of
a half empty, you know, whereas I'm more of a
people might have called me Pollyanna. I'm just optimistic, very positive.
He's kind of half empty. And we kind of come together,
we kind of help each other out. But he would
even say that raising our children to see things half full,

(04:33):
to raise them with that optimistic attitude, that positive feeling
that it's going to be okay, everything's going to work out.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
And I feel sorry for people that their default is
kind of like how Kevin is, you know what I mean.
It's like they want so badly to be like you
and to be at that happy area, but they just can't.
It's just not who they've been their whole lives. It's
a struggle. And I feel like there's we're we're lucky.

(05:00):
We're lucky that our default is basically happy.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Well, and we in the show every day saying may
your pursuit of happiness bring you joy. I do believe
in the pursuit of happiness. It's what drives the economy
to begin with. But what's more important to me than
that is joy. So I don't actually seek happiness out.
I actually seek joy out. So if I'm doing something

(05:26):
It's not that I want to necessarily be happy. It's
that I want to grab onto this thing that is
joyful that I can just hold because joy lasts longer
than happiness. True. Does that make sense?

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah? So do you think that that Trump's peace or
do you think peace? Trump's all?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Peace? Trump's all because you can be miserable and as
long as you have peace, you can keep going forward.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
I agree.
