Speaker 1 (00:02):
Morning. Oh how for you, old morning, my morning? Oh well,
I love you, yes, I love you. Morning, Happy Devils Wednesday.
(00:27):
This is the morning wu oh yeah, the morning woo
rising shine on this beautiful Wednesday, October eighth, twenty twenty five.
One more day, one more day before the New Jersey
(00:49):
Devils take on the Carolina Hurricanes for the season opener.
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, wherever you are on
this beautiful, saggy day in beautiful New Jersey. We got
(01:12):
some rain on the forecast, some big games yesterday. We'll
go over that in a few I'm your host, Sam
wu streaming live on Facebook Live, YouTube Live, x Live,
and Twitch on the Let's Go Devil's Network company, Live
(01:34):
live on the Primetime Radio studios inside the Bunker and
now undisclosed location, Beautiful New Jersey. We had a great
Will Report last night, if you haven't listened it to it.
I discussed about how the Devils are just one one
player away, one player away, and who could that be?
(01:57):
And that should be on your mind for the entire season,
because this is a pretty good team that the New
Jersey Devils have here. I think this team, I don't
think they have all the pieces, but I think they
got ninety percent of the pieces in place if you're
(02:19):
gonna make a serious run to win the Stanley Cup.
And that's a big jump. That's a big jump from
what they accomplished last season or a couple of seasons
ago when they swept, not swept, when they won against
the New York Rangers in seven games. Steve Engels says,
(02:45):
nothing like being on the toilet after drinking coffee and
watching WU Good morning, aj Visco, the law offices of
aj Visco, Lawrence, Good morning, Happy Devil's Wednesday to you.
The only thing better than the return of regular season
hockey last night was watching the Pens blank the Rangers.
(03:10):
You got we'll talk about the Rangers sucking. But I
said this to the last couple podcasts. And there was
an old bud Light commercial years ago that says, beware
of the Penguins. I would beware of the Penguins. A
lot of analysts have written them off, but you cannot
(03:35):
discount the trio of Crosby, Malkin and La Tang. And
now they have a new coach, and when they get
went against their former coach who won Stanley Cups with them,
Mike Sullivan. All the hype with the New York Rangers,
(03:58):
Oh we got we got a great and they did
get a great coach. But this is a coach. To me,
I think he has something to prove because I mean,
of course, winning the Stanley Cup is difficult, but when
you had Crosby, Malkin and La Tang in their prime
(04:25):
with decent goaltending during the playoffs, let's see if he
could turn around this New York Rangers franchise, who have
not won a Stanley Cup since nineteen ninety four. It
feels like it's eons ago. When I get older, it's
just like one more year further removed from that awful
(04:48):
day when they did win the Cup. But if you're
a New York Rangers fan, you would have to be
really really pissed off going to that game getting shut out,
which if you go to the Bronx if you're a
sports fan, the New York Yankees who are playing, who
(05:13):
played better in survival mode down against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Aaron Judge hitting that home run, Chisholm hitting that home
run to give the Yankees the lead, and they had
on some extra winning nine to six over the Blue
(05:36):
Jays the best of five. Wow. So you go to
the Rangers game, but you could have went to the
Yankees game. But you could have It sucks to be
a Rangers fan, and to tell you the truth, kind
of laughing at it, you wasted your time in Massive
(05:56):
Square Garden to watch that debacle where they just got
shut out. I thought the Penguins looked good and earlier yesterday,
the Florida Panthers raised a banner playing the Chicago Blackhawks.
(06:21):
Our very own Vinnie Persi of Game Day Live and
Pucksinpitchforks dot com. He covers the Blackhawks for The Hockey News.
It was a tight game to the end. There in
the familiar face jessper vocalist, Yes, jessper Vocalist scoring the
game winning goal. We knew he had talent, but he
(06:44):
just couldn't finish in New Jersey, couldn't get himself in
the lineup man. Florida Panthers won. Oh and oh, the
Rangers get shut out by the Penguins three nothing gotta
be ware of the Penguins and the last leg of
(07:04):
the triple header on ESPN yesterday, Colorado Avalanche at the
Los Angeles Kings Calvil Carr to assist Kevin Fiala with
the goal in the loss for the Kings, Scott Wedgewood,
(07:27):
Remember that name, Scott Wedgwood with with the wind giving
up one goal. Tom, I have to agree with Tom.
Sean McDonough was ready to cry over his rags. Oh
(07:50):
when you make Sean McDonough the ESPN broadcaster, the lead broadcaster,
no less? Who I think is should be Gary Thorn.
I don't care if Gary Thorn is like eighty years old.
I'd rather have Gary Thorn and Bill Clement. I know
I'm biased, but you got Sean McDonough that just gushes
(08:11):
over the New York Rangers and pisses on any other
team in that Metropolitan division. Just literally pisses on the
other team. Remember that. Remember in the Stanley Cup Finals
when Florida scored and normally in the Stanley Cup Finals,
(08:33):
I think it was game two or game three. You
mean like you'd be more animated with your call, but
instead Sean McDonald's like and the Panthers score terrible, terrible.
(08:57):
Peter Seaffert agrees Gary was the best. Jim Norton, Good Morning.
I wonder if you are the comedian Jim Norton Love
that guy, Love that guy and shut out in the
Centennial Jerseys, Lol says Select the Boy. Yeah, one hundred
years of Rangers hockey, going back to nineteen twenty five,
(09:22):
you only won four Cups. I don't even consider ninety
four a New York Rangers Stanley Cup victory. It was
basically the Edmonton Oilers and the Chicago Blackhawks. The Oilhawks
transplanted on one team for one fricking year. And you
(09:43):
know how it is in New York. You know, once
you win, it's like, uh, you'll never hear the end
of it. Doc Emerck and Gary Thorne, the best, says Ted. Uh.
(10:05):
Select the Boy says, Bob was shooting. Bob was shooting.
Is very good, very good. I remember Mike Miller, Lord
Stanley Cup has made its way to the elect Tunnel,
to the battle Lands, to the Garden State. Remember that
(10:27):
at its four and there's three seconds in between one
another three seconds in between you today. That was Mike Miller,
who did play by play for the New Jersey Devils
(10:50):
for the first two Cups. And then John Hennessy. You
remember John Hennessy, local guy. I guess Mike Miller moved
on and John Hennessy came in two thousand and three season.
He was not bad. He was pretty good. Now, you know,
the Devils have Matt Laughlin, who's been there for a while.
(11:12):
I remember when Matt was started doing play by play
on the radio now on digital, I don't know what
they call it now on the audio stream. He got
better and better as time went on. Not easy going
from TV to radio and doing play by play not easy.
(11:34):
I've always wanted to do that. I've always wanted to
do play by play on the radio. Not sure if
I could do TV. Although is there really there is
a difference because on TV there's a visual and it's
described differently versus when you have to describe the play
on the audio version of the called ted. Bob was
(12:01):
shues and cracked me up when he said, Jack Hamilton,
I love it when we point out mistakes of broadcasters.
This is like all innocent. Like I remember even the
great Gary Thorne kept on calling Turner Stevenson Turner Stevens
for a very long time. How about Larry Hirsch at
(12:28):
the beginning? You know what, Ny Davy, that was a
long time ago. That's before my time. I mean I
became a Devils fan probably in nineteen eighty six. To
be honest, I was just, I don't know, six years old,
seven years old, maybe eight years old. I don't even
know how old I am. Ted says, I like Spalding.
(12:50):
He had the pulse of the Devil's fan base. Yeah.
I love Bill Spalding. He was great when he came
on to the podcast. Good friend of the podcast Spalding.
Now donnye Puck's Don Mugreca takes the reins. He's not
bad again. It's one of those things where I'm very,
(13:12):
very stingy in my evaluation of broadcasters because I look
for everything. I look for everything, and I nitpick it everything.
But at times you got to give a broadcaster a
year or two before you can really make an honance assessment.
(13:36):
Gary Thorne, Steve Eiserman, not sure what you're talking about,
dead any of us human life. Michael Disguillis is one
hundred years of suck. Yeah. Let me get back to
the New York Rangers. So if you're a New York
Rangers fan that was born in let's say you're still
alive right now, nineteen twenty three, would you remember a
(14:00):
hockey game of two years old. You know, well, you
know what, how about this? How about we go to
uh Stan Fishler, good friend of the podcast. He's in
his nineties when he started covering hockey. I believe it
was in nineteen forty nine or nineteen fifty whatever. Obviously,
(14:21):
you know you had the only original six teams being
from New York. Stand covered the New York Rangers. Remembers everything.
The guy is so smart, remembers everything. We got to
get Stan Fischler back on the podcast, good friend of
the podcast. Imagine me Stan Fishler and covering the New
(14:44):
York Rangers, and you can only like barely remember the
nineteen forty team winning the Cup and then going fifty
six years covering hockey, and then nineteen ninety four and
(15:04):
now when's the next Cup gonna be on? Just uh, Ted,
Matt Lachlan and Chico are a great broadcasting team. Yes,
Chico is gonna be back this season. Talk to Chico yesterday.
(15:26):
You know, Chico is a big part of the Let's
Go to This Podcast family, always giving his time whether
it's on air or off air, giving us tips. You
and I were talking about that missing player and he
actually referred this that, you know, when he was with
the Islanders, it was Butch Goring that trade that put
(15:47):
him over the top. That some players make other players
just play a lot better. It doesn't have to be
a superstar, but some players are like that. I mean,
I always like to use the Joe Montana reference. You know,
when Joe Montana played, even the freaking kicker was kicking better,
(16:08):
or the punter had an extra ten yards to his punt,
all because of his presence that he was playing. Now
Joe Montana got hurt all the time. But yeah, you know,
sometimes players can make other players play better, and we
were hoping for that with Andre Pallot times running out
(16:31):
plot because I'm getting your jersey stitched as we speak.
I actually haven't mailed it out yet. I got to
Venmo the guy, but it's about to happen, and I'm
hoping that I could actually use this jersey. This jersey jersey.
(16:52):
Actually hate the jersey jersey. I only bought it because
I want to get rid of it. I wanted the
team to get rid of it. Like the boy says, man,
I'm miss Spalding. Bill Spalding, Well, you know you can
the Olympics, you'll have Bill Spalding, I believes a lot
of stuff with NBC in the past. But yeah, all right.
(17:21):
Uh also, let's get to some uh other news. So uh,
let's say here the Yankees. The Yankees won nine to
six yesterday. They're still alive. You ever you know that
(17:43):
song Staying Alive, Staying Alive. Yeah, so they're staying alive.
The one team, the Mariners beat the Tigers eight to four. Kyl.
Rawley's a heck of a season. I hope, I hope.
(18:07):
I mean, at least in baseball we got Mariners, Tigers,
three Cubs and Brewers. Brewers will have a to nothing
lead over the Cubs again. Yankees in survival mode play
the Blue Jays again seven eight pm Eastern. Dodgers are
(18:29):
leading the Phillies to nothing, taking it back to LA
nine o eight pm Eastern. I mean, I hate anything Philadelphia.
This is great. I'm loving every bit of it. I
hate the Dodgers for obvious reasons. You know, they weren't
you know, they couldn't make it in New York, so
they had to go to LA. That's what I think.
(18:52):
At least, and in the NHL, I want to get
the schedule front to me tonight's games. We got some
good matchups for tonight's games. You've got the Original Six
(19:13):
rivalry in Toronto, Toronto Canadians, seven pm Eastern start. That's
gonna be a good one. You got the Caps and
Boston will the Caps repeat of last season where they
(19:37):
won the President's Trophy. The Battle of Alberta in Vonton,
Edmonton and Calgary Flames, the Oilers and Flames. That's gonna
be a good one. And then you got the Kings
(19:59):
go going to Vegas second half of a back to
back to play the Vegas Golden Knights in Vegas. Great
games tonight in the NHL. I'm gonna be watching that
except and here's a plug, the State of the Fan
Address presented by pucksinpitchforks dot com. We'll be doing a
(20:25):
two hour season preview of the twenty twenty five twenty
six Devil season. Nick Volano and I will be going
over everything everything about the New Jersey Devils. We'll talk
(20:46):
about Amenao and the chance going down to Utica. You
got Luke Glenn Denning signing a deal yesterday. We got
(21:07):
some young kids that are going to challenge for spots.
But yeah, all right, well we're gonna get out of here.
I uh just one more one more note was the
(21:30):
last time I'll be uh letting you guys know. You
guys may have been following it over the past few days.
Uh t J mock. Uh he was missing. Last I heard,
he was found and there's no information moving forward, So
(21:52):
I guess that's good news. We want to thank all
those that were sharing the posts, getting the word out
there that one of our own was missed. Wimby's asking
who's still in bed? Are you really still in bed? Geez?
I'm about to go off to work. Gotta deal with
(22:14):
your boss at the pain in the ass, got it.
When I get to the water cooler, I gotta defend
my team, I gotta trash other teams. That's just part
of my day. It's kind of like part of your day.
I'm assuming you know. But this is why we have
the morning Woo. So get your caffeinated beverages, your highly
(22:38):
caffeinated beverages, and try to stay awake at the wheel
hands ten and two on the steering wheel nine and
three if you prefer. I'm holding I don't have it's
actually water, but I have my highly caffeinated water. Hold
(22:59):
up up your cups, take a sip. Whoo, I'm ready
to start my day. This is the morning Woo. Dropping
the podcast in twenty minutes on Apple Podcast, Google Podcasts, Spotify,
Amazon Music Prime, Audible, iHeart App. Until next time, Let's

(23:47):
