Speaker 1 (00:06):
If you.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Morning Woo, then you know why.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
With morning, my morning, or well I love you, Yes,
I love you, Morning Morning Who, Morning.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Rise and Shine. This is the Morning Woo. I'm your host,
Sam Woo coming to you live live on this beautiful
October seventh, twenty twenty five, and this beautiful morning, Little
Chili out this morning, Oh boy, Here in New Jersey,

(00:56):
streaming live on Facebook Live, YouTube Live, x Live, and
Twitch on the Let's Go Devil's network. As the NHL
season starts tonight, hockey is back. Been waiting for this
for a while. With all the area sports teams sucking

(01:25):
just disheartening last two weeks, hockey is finally back. Hello,
Mike Rossi, Peter Seffert. We have a lot of early risers,
a lot of early risers here on the Let's Go
Devils podcast network. We've We've got a I'm a morning

(01:49):
person and this has been two years in the making.
Started off as a joke with the early Will Report
because of scheduling conflicts. But man, we're finally here Episode
three the NHL season starting the twenty twenty five twenty
six seasons. We have lots to go over because yesterday

(02:14):
the New Jersey Devils came out with their twenty man
or twenty three man roster. Let's kind of go over
the lineup how we got here now. Covid, Savage and

(02:38):
Nason are starting off the season on the injury list
also known as injured non roster list. Seamus Casey and
Mark McLaughlin are both on injured reserve. Shame for both

(02:59):
of them, especially Casey, who we've talked about all summer long.
But let's look at the Devil's projected starting lineup when
they go against the Carolina Hurricanes October ninth, this Thursday.

(03:22):
It is top to bottom pretty much a balanced team
with some depth. We talked about balance. I got questioned
by Ted about you know, kind of like having a
balanced meal. Well, you kind of have a balanced lineup,
a little bit of everything. You can't just be so

(03:46):
top heavy or bottom heavy, if you know what I mean.
Max says, morning hockey is upon us. Yes, Max, also
just a little I knowe what's upon us is one
million downloads. We've been talking about that for a while,
but we took the summer off practically, but today we're

(04:09):
supposed to hit the million download mark right now. Last
stands we are at nine hundred ninety nine thousand, nine
hundred and eighty three downloads. I think I think this
podcast is just gonna put it over the top once
it's dropped on our Apple Podcast, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Prime, Audible,

(04:33):
and the iHeart app. Good Morning, Metlander. But let's just
talk about this Devil's lineup. First line, Hughes at center,
Jasper Bratt, who came off a career high in assists

(04:54):
last season, points the new acquisition Dandanoff, who was brought
in a veteran leader playing the left wing. Also to
mentor Gritzik, who will get to in a moment. That
first line, solid second line. I'm excited about this second line.

(05:18):
He sure down at center, Dawson Mercer at right wing,
and Timo Meyer at left wing. That is a solid
top six. I don't care what the pundits will say.
That is a solid top six that I would take
against any top six in the National Hockey League over

(05:43):
and over again. Matter of fact, I'm not saying that
this is the best top six in the league. But again,
it's got balanced, it's got depth. Third line Cody Glass center,
Connor Brown, who came from the Edmonton Oilers, you got

(06:04):
some experience, some scoring on that right wing, and of
course number eighteen Andre Pallott. By the way I placed
the order, haven't sent it out yet, but I placed
the order for that pialat Jersey to be made fourth line,

(06:28):
scottle Chance making the team. How about that scottlet Chance
making the team acquired last year via trade. Kind of
a throw in, but Scott a Chance got himself in
the lineup taking advantage of you know, I guess with

(06:48):
Nason out an injury, Gritzick at right wing making the team,
and Paul Cotter, who has really you know again, out
to improve from last season. He was inconsistent last season,
showed some signs of greatness, signs when he was slumping.

(07:10):
But if you can get consistency out of Paul Cotter,
the motor keeps on running and he keeps on hitting,
and he can also score, and he's got decent hands.
You've got Paul Cotter on your fourth line with Gritzik
who's breaking into NHL coming from the KHL, and scottle
of Chance. It's not a bad fourth line, especially especially

(07:35):
when Nason you know, is skating right now, he's on
the injured list. Let's go to the blue line as well.
Peter seffer I will get to that in a second
about the New Jersey governor race. We're not talking politics here,

(07:58):
but it was something that really bothered me about something
happened in the New Jersey governor race. On the blue line,
You've got Seeking Thaler and Hamilton, Dougie Hamilton. You know,
I'm expecting big things out of Dougie Hamilton. You know,
coming off of that awful injury last year. He didn't

(08:18):
do too bad, but I would expect Dougie Hamilton to be,
you know, more engaged and leading this team. Seeking Thaller
had a great year last season. You know, kind of
wrote him off the year before, but he made a comeback. Unfortunately,

(08:39):
you know, injuries he had last season, but overall he
had a great season last season. Second pairing Luke Hughes
newly signed Luke Hughes again coming off a shoulder injury.
He'll be paired with Brett Peschi. They say that Brett
Peschi will be back opening night. Brett Peshi will be

(09:01):
back opening night. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, Peter Seffert says, the
morning anything is on the table. Of course, anything is
on the table. Dave Singer, how are you? Happy? Devils
Tuesday to you, Dave Singer, Rise and Shine Dave Singer.

(09:24):
Dave Singer an American hero. He was honored once before
for his service in the military at Prudential Center. Got
to meet him. Great guy, great sense of humor. We
met at you know that place called American Whiskey on
fifty one Edison Place across the state from Prudential Centatenxtionra

(09:45):
Championship plasm but on the third pairing defense Shimon Emich
on the right side and Brendan Dylan. Brendan Dylon having
that certain next surgery. Apparently this is the same surgery
that Jack Eichel had recovering quickly. Original thoughts when I

(10:08):
talked to Nick Veolano back in April that this he
could be out for a while, back in the lineup
for opening night this October ninth, after getting hurt during
the playoffs. Turned out he's had that injury for a while.
I don't know the details about it, but maybe we'll

(10:30):
discuss a little bit more on the state of fan
address which we have a two hour special this Wednesday,
eight pm Eastern Here on the let's go Double's podcast network. Yeah,
two hours. It's like two power hours of guests that
Nick is lining up for a wonderful twenty twenty five

(10:51):
twenty six Devils season preview gonna be live live at
a pm Eastern. Keep that in mind, which is tomorrow.
Dave Singer says, praise always embarrasses me. I never feel
as if they are saying, uh enough, Dave Singer, You're
a great guy. I can I could attest to it

(11:16):
and at the you know, at the look at the
goalie position, the net miners, Jacob Markstrom and Jake Allen,
the Jakes are back, plus Nico Dawes sent down to
Utica cleared cleared waivers, clear waivers. We had this debate

(11:36):
on the Sunday podcast Let's go to All this podcasts
Sunday edition. You know, did we overvaluate Nico Dawes. I
don't think we ever overvaluate them. I just think that
teams when they look at his record, they look at
the overall thing. You know, maybe they don't want to
take a risk because the injury, the surgery he had

(11:58):
a couple of years ago with the hip. Not sure,
but I'm glad that Nico Dawes is still within the
Devils organization. But yeah, Devils and uh and and this
team obviously, Covid Savage is gonna be out probably till January.

(12:21):
Stefan Nason skating, who knows how long it will take
for him to get to get back from injury for
that groin injury. Seeing a lot of comments at this
beautiful Tuesday morning, October seventh, Right now, let's uh, let's

(12:49):
let's go over the games tonight. Something we're gonna be
doing a little bit other NHL action tonight. Has the
NHL season start tonight? You got a tripleheader Tuesday, all
on ESPN. I'm sure that was arranged by that network. Uh,

(13:11):
Florida Panthers, back to back Stanley Cup champions will be
raising the banner again for the second time, second year
in a row, the Stanley Cup banner. They got the
rings yesterday playing Connor Badard's Chicago Blackhawks. Five pm Eastern start.

(13:35):
Then you know what then uh eight pm Eastern. The
New York Rangers are playing the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight at
Madison Square Garden. I'll tell you what the Penguins. I
think a lot of analysts have written them off. You know,

(13:57):
you never you never can discount if team like the
Pittsburgh Penguins have one last gasp, one last run at it.
I don't think the Penguins are on anybody's radar. They
had a decent preseason. They got a new coach. Matter
of fact, if Mike Sullivan, their old coach, is on

(14:19):
the New York Rangers he makes his debut. Is Mike
Sullivan overrated? I think he's a good coach, But again,
can he bring the Rangers to a whole new level
in another gear that the other coaches like la Violette
and Gallant or Gliant that's what that's how he wants

(14:43):
his name for Glant. Would he be able to bring
them over the top. I'm not so sure. A lot
of changes in Rangers Land, but they still have Igor
schusterk in in that. Let's see if he can hold
them down. And then the Kings, the Los Angeles Kings

(15:03):
playing at home at ten thirty pm Eastern against the
Colorado Avalanche. I'll be looking at the Colorado Avalanche closely
because in fantasy hockey again, you gotta start these players.
One of my top picks was Cal mccarr coming off
of thirty goal season. That matchup should be a good

(15:26):
one if you're gonna stay up late, But if you're
gonna be doing the Morning Woo, we're gonna be probably
not watching it tonight. Michael Descalom makes a great point
that Mike Sullivan inherited Sidney, Crosby, Gino and Flower in

(15:46):
their prime. Yes, he is correct. Nice to see Marc
Andre Fleury getting the recognition going back to the Pittsburgh
Penguins for that final one period in free season, ending
his career, his NHL career on his terms. But you know,

(16:08):
it didn't feel right when Pittsburgh let him go in
the entry draft. But Marc Andre Fleury, he's one of
those great ambassadors the game, class act. Hear nothing but
great things about him. Very charismatic, likable guy and just

(16:29):
a real good hockey player in that. All right, let's
switch gears to some Shenanigans. I'm gonna get to Peter Seffert. Yeah, so,
not gonna talk politics here, That's not what we do

(16:49):
here on the Morning Woo. But I like to poke
fun of things because well that's what I like to do.
You know, we're a podcast. We like to poke fun
of things. Now, there was a governor's debate about a
month ago, New Jersey Governor, you got Jack Chitarelli. I

(17:13):
think that's how you pronounced the last name, and Mikey
Cheryl going at it. If I had my choice for
governor New Jersey, it'd be Ellen Hughes. But that's just
my opinion. And that's my opinion only if I had
my choice, but the headlines like if I were to

(17:39):
be one of those people at these debates, I honestly
would ask him, is it Taylor Ham or pork role?
Now Tellor Ham and pork roll. That debate has gotten
into the governor's race where Mikey Cheryl sets up like

(18:00):
who would want to eat pork? Who eats pork roll?
I think that's gross, she said, And she said that
on a podcast, and it's like, you're running for governor
of New Jersey. You can't be saying that. At least
you know you're a politician. At least fake it like, oh,

(18:22):
I love pork roll. This is not even about tailor
Ham and pork roll. You're just saying it's gross. It
is a staple in New Jersey. Tony, It's it's Taylor haam,
It's always been Taylor Ham just because of the FDA
in nineteen oh six said, oh no, it doesn't mut

(18:43):
the standards. Well, the FDA doesn't meet my standards either,
so it is Taylor Ham and pork Role. Well it
was Taylor Ham before nineteen oh six. Then the government
agency formed in nineteen oh six, and the first thing
they do, the first thing they do is they clarify

(19:05):
what's Taylor Ham or pork Roll. Sounds fishy to me,
but yeah, seriously, you know that's I don't know, I
just feel like that's political suicide because honestly, someone like

(19:28):
me I would actually judge, make my vote judged on that.
But anyway, enough about that, Max, thank you, he says,
special shout out to the negotiator. WU helped me with
a project to make more money. Yes, the Art of
the WU. I should have that book out on kindle

(19:50):
and paperback about how to negotiate, how to negotiate because
you deserve it, and Max deserve every bit of it.
Glad to help you and negotiate what you wanted. And

(20:10):
Wimpy pork Roll in the six h nine Yeah, I mean, seriously,
the Taylor Ham. Pork roll line is just kind of
like the Mason Dixon line. You know, it's it's I
don't know. I again, some people call pork roll. I
call Taylor Ham. It's always been Taylor Ham. It was

(20:31):
Taylor Ham before nineteen oh six a government wanted to
change that. But you know what, it's still Tailor Ham.
Dave Singer says, Taylor Ham, egg and cheese, salt, pepper,
ketchup on the sesame Bael, What do I win? Uh? Yes,
you win a happy stomach, that's what you win. That
sounds good to me. I love Taylor Ham. I'm trying

(20:52):
to cut back. I'm trying to cut back because it
is processed food. I'm trying to lose a little weight.
You know, I've struggled with my weight issues. I struggle
with my eating habits. I'm just I just eat. If
I see food, I eat it. I I eat anything

(21:14):
in sight. If it tastes good, it's for me. Max
is asking, I'd say, any concern with the size of
line one concerning the opponent, there's ay no, because you
know the devils are coming with the philosophy. We will
just out outskate him, and they better because I don't

(21:34):
think Jack Hughes down the Middle is going to you know,
beat up on six five centers anytime soon. Uh, Tom
says later on, gotta work LG D Tom going to work,
Tom Bluetooth in your vehicle. Just remember, don't watch the podcast.

(21:57):
You can always listen and hence ten two on the wheel,
nine to three if you prefer, let's see here Max,
the only thing you messed up there should be everything.
Bagel saying that Dave, everything, Bagel's pretty good if you
want to get crazy and everything. Bagel Whimby says, cutting

(22:21):
carbs is the way to go. Sam, you know, cutting cars,
you know, I love carves. I love carbs. I mean
I remember in college carbs was such a good thing.
We had like a carb line, you know, at the
mess hall, you know, just you know, just eating spaghetti,
penny penny pasta. I don't know, see they always change stuff,

(22:47):
you know. It's just like back in the day, Oh
you gotta have margarine. It's not a real butter. Now
they're saying, oh butter is better than real margarine, or
real butter is better than margarine. Yeah again, I eat anything.
I eat anything. One of my favorite drinks is Snapple

(23:10):
Snapple peach iced tea. I've cut down on that a lot.
Missus Woo can attest to that. Yeah, I used to
buy the big bottles, used to drink it in the
car heading to every single Devil's game. I can't believe
the season is upon us. It's gonna be. I might

(23:31):
be for Game Day Live and Devil's after Dark. I
might be at MetLife Stadium for that Giants Eagles game.
I might be. That's to be determined. That's the game
time decision. Hopefully we can pull it off. But yeah,
I'm hearing all like breakfast talk in the YouTube chat,

(23:53):
Peter Seffert. Can we get a shout out to the
finally legal after eighteen years, missus Seaffert this Sunday doing
it legally. All I have to say is congratulations, Missus Seaffert. Yeah, congratulations. Yeah.

(24:17):
So oh h hockey is back, folks, Hockey is back.
All right. I'm a a serious note. I have to
do this, folks. I have to do this just because
you know. It kind of breaks my heart to even

(24:39):
have to do this. But I'm still very concerned. Thomas
Mock is still missing. I talked about this on the
other podcast as well. Thomas Mock, Big Devil's Fan, thirty
four years old. Last sea on October third, at four

(25:03):
forty five am, last scene in Berkeley Heights in the
area of Glen's Side Road. The search party has expanded
out to Somerset Mrs County. Yeah, very sad. I believe
he has one kid he's missing right now. My relationship

(25:28):
with Thomas, I met him once at work, hit it
off after, you know, discover that we're both Devil fans.
Hope that we bring Thomas back home soon, so you know,
I'm flashing the pictures around. It's all over social media.

(25:48):
Hopefully we can find him, that he's safe and bring
him back to his family. And if you have any clues,
call the Berkeley Heights Police Department. On that note, doing
a new tradition here, rise and shine, raise your cups,

(26:14):
take a sip of the morning woo woo, and have
a great rest of the day. Don't let your boss
piss you off or your coworkers tell you what to do.
Make sure when you're at the water cooler you tell

(26:37):
them that the New Jersey Devils are gonna win the
twenty twenty six Stanley Cup and if they don't believe you,
just say Sam Wu on the morning WU told me so. Oh,
just ran out of runway. Well let's start it back up.

(26:57):
I was just about the end of the bogus rant,
ran out of bumper music. Anyway, the morning Wood, keep
you here until next time. This is the morning Woo.
Let's go Devil's Oh well.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
I love you, Yes, I love you morning morning, whoop morning,
Oh how mad for you?

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Old morning? My morning? Oh well, I.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
Love you Wood, Yes, I love you morning morning.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Morning, pretty bid betty beatty morning, old morning, my morning.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
You will I love you all

Speaker 2 (28:03):
And I need you mon
