Speaker 1 (00:01):
Call you O morning, my morning. Yes, I love morning. Move,
rise and shine. Happy Devils Friday. This is the morning

(00:25):
Woo come to you live live from the Primetime Radio
studios inside the Bunker in an undisclosed location in Beautiful
New Jersey. Streaming live on Facebook Live, YouTube, Live x
Live Twitch on the Let's Go Devil's Network. As what

(00:51):
Michael Rossi says, Welcome to them morning WU therapy session
as the New Jersey Devils dropped the season opener to
the Carolina Hurricanes, losing and gave up six goals and

(01:15):
only scoring three. How are you this morning? I see
Maria d Morning. Devils fans alive? Are you alive? I'm
trying to stay positive. Notice I'm wearing my New York

(01:36):
Football Giants hat because that's the only team that was
winning last night. Congratulations to the Los Angeles Dodgers, by
the way, beating the Phillies in extra innings two to
one on a play that should have been thrown the

(01:56):
first base with two outs, bases loaded, put some no
name reliever in because you ran out of arms, and
he threw it a home plate and it was wide
and right by a mile, just a bit outside that
throw but last night, let's get let's get to last night.

(02:19):
Devil's playing the Hurricanes, biggest Devil's rival at the moment,
because they just seem they can't beat the Hurricanes in
Carolina for whatever reason. Start off the season, they were

(02:47):
in the game for the most part, but then Carolina
took over that third period, post after post after post.
It easily could have been and attend too schlacking last

(03:08):
night with the Hurricanes just peppering Jacob Markstrom. But like
what I said on the not the report Devil's after
Dark last night, I just didn't particularly like the sequence

(03:28):
after they pulled mark Strom when they were down four
to three and Jack Hughes carrying the puck in good
to see Jack Hughes again playing healthy. You pulled Markstrom,
the goaltender, and you do a backhanded pass, a low

(03:54):
percentage pass, Same old Devils, same old Jack Hughes, and
Carolina taking the puck all the way, scoring the empty netter.
Then had five to three, and then that's sixth goal,
the final goal. The Devils basically gave up at that point.

(04:17):
Why are you giving up? The game's not over, the
season's not over. You've got an eighty two game season,
establish your presence, show some pride, show some dignity, show
some respect for yourself for crying out loud. Those last

(04:38):
two goals were inexcusable. Mark Strom had a softy that
he let up. I wouldn't say that it's inexcusable. I'd
say you gotta play better. The goals five and six

(04:59):
that ca On line has scored on inexcusable. You know,
it's one thing if dac qu'es dumped the punk deep
in the zone, you know they try to fight for
the puck, and you know there was a lucky two
hundred foot shot that made the emptiness. Okay, I can
take that, But none of this backhanded, low percentage to nowhere,

(05:25):
no man's land type passes, especially when your goaltender has
been pulled. That gets me fired up. It's the same
old crap we've been seeing in the last decade. It's
so predictable you kind of almost you almost telegraphed it,
not only the past, but the sequence what's gonna happen

(05:49):
because we've seen this rodeo before. We've seen it and
it was terrible. And that's what pisses me off about
last night's game. The end. You know, there's a cliche,
it's not how you start, it's how you finish, and

(06:12):
you're gonna finish on top. The finish was terrible with
his team. You gotta play all sixty minutes, maybe sixty
five if you need it, or even in the shootout
in the regular season, but inexcusable. I'm pissed. You can't

(06:34):
be making those lazy passes, those backhanded passes. It was
it was a high risk, but there was definitely no
reward on the on that pass. Jack Hughes has to
protect the puck. He's got to have better puck management
than that. I know it's not easy carrying the puck

(06:56):
in when it's six on five, I get it, But
least just dump the puck in and let your teammates
fight for it. That was just too easy. You can't
be that easy on the Carolina Hurricanes. They are a
well coached team. Nhy Davy, Happy Devils Friday to you,

(07:24):
n why Davy he's saying Jack has been making that
same mistake his entire career. I remember getting criticized four
years ago calling Jack Hughes mister turnover. Not because I
hate him, not because you know I'm talking crap. He

(07:49):
just turns over the pucks for no reason. It's one
thing to be one of those high risk players, where
you high risk, high reward players. I get it, there's
gonna be turnovers, but that one was unforced error. Unforced

(08:10):
You didn't basically handed the team the puck when your
goalie is out net. I might as well leave Markstrom
in net. If you're gonna make those freaking passes, select
the boy. Jack, Seriously, Jack shouldn't know better than that. Here,

(08:31):
I'm gonna turn around. I don't know if you can
see it on the camera. I'm wearing I'm wearing my
retro Jack Hughes jersey, just to let you know. I
didn't buy this jersey long term, leased it. But I

(08:52):
will say, Jack Hughes, you want if you want team
to go places, you gotta be smarter. You gotta be
smarter with the puck. Riad says so close to going

(09:18):
to ot. Gotta hang in there. Look, I don't have
a problem with this team. Up into the end when
they faced adversity, little disappointed. I thought this is the
year that they kind of overcome some of their demons.

(09:38):
They've matured, they are gonna play a lot smarter because
they're more experienced. But hence, same old devils, Same old devils.
And is there gonna be accountability? I like to see
Sheldon Keef. I mean, it's hard to hold any of

(09:59):
the huge brother there's accountable because they are the faces
of the franchise. And if you're adding Quinn Hughes two
years from now, it's gonna be hard then. But you
gotta hold Jack Hughes accountable just like any other player.
You can't be making those softy, lazy, backhanded pass No look,

(10:27):
by the way, he probably didn't even look. Yeah, I
agree with like the boy. I know it's one game,
but still it's one game, folks, But it's the same

(10:52):
old devils. We've seen the script before. How can they
change the script? Pallotte was virtually invisible last night. Connor
Brown kind of visible, But again, it's just one game.

(11:14):
I just had some beef with that with that pass
last night, Metal Landers says looks like the same problem
Sam inability to clear the defensive zone, turnovers by Jack
and soft goals by Markie groundhog Day and why David

(11:35):
says Gritzick was barely noticeable. Hey, I look, he had
a decent preseason. I know there's a lot of hype
in this kid, but just remember on the Woo report,
I'm not sold on KHL players coming to the NHL.

(12:01):
We've been burnt before, other teams have been burnt. Remember Goosev.
I'm still traumatized to that with the shorts. Guy still
has Gusev jerseys. Jerseys Guseve t shirts, sorry, not jerseys,
Gusev t shirts still in stock. Can't even sell it. Also,

(12:25):
we've had other k Ehlers in the past, Gritchick, there's
so much hype with him, We've got to temper expectations
a little bit. To tell you truth, I don't know.
I'm not sure if he's gonna be as impactful as
what Sharon Govic was a few years ago. And that's

(12:48):
not saying much. Plots in visible ninety percent of season.
Mike Rossy Doves is like and they don't have to
score all the time. They just need extended periods of
time in the ozone to take pressure off of Marquee

(13:09):
and the d They couldn't take much more last night.
Look the Carolina Hurricanes. Their fundamentals are there. Their fundamentals
are there. They're well coached team. You know, if your
fundamentals are there and you outwork them and you really
have to work at it, you can beat the Carolina Hurricanes.

(13:33):
But their fundamentals are there. They're an experienced team. They
have something to prove. And why Davy God, I miss
these bitch sessions. We are so back, very therapeutic. Well

(13:56):
not that I do this podcast for Devils, but it started.
It's the same old thing, same old devils. Can't believe
this team. I feel like I'm getting screwed bamboozled every
freaking year under the Harris Blitzers sports entertainment regime. I

(14:19):
always feel like I'm getting duped. They always throw, they
always dangle all these marketing gimmicks with you. Oh, red
and black numbers five ninety nine for hot dogs, come
on in or whatever. That freaking I saw some email.
I'm like the worst. I don't read emails. I just

(14:41):
skimmed through it. But it's October tenth and twenty twenty five.
Here on the morning. Woo got up late this morning.
Was depressed except for my New York Football Giants beating
the Philadelphia Eagles thirty four to seventeen. Last night, was

(15:02):
watching the game while doing doubles after Dark, Cam Scattaboo
three touchdowns in that victory, flought with that key interception.
Saquon Barkley get getting paid. Not looking that good this season.

(15:23):
We've seen that before. My nephew, big Eagles fan, talking
smack the entire last since the Super Bowl. He's not
talking smack now. And maybe we can look towards the
New York Football Giants. Out of all teams that have
been one of the worst teams in football in the

(15:44):
last five years, they're starting to show life. There's something
with the kid about Jackson Dark. He brings that energy.
Same with Cam Scattaboo brings that energy. And who in
the New Jersey Devils is bringing that energy? It's the

(16:09):
low energy Devils. You gotta be better than this. Yeah.
And also in Major League Baseball last night Philadelphia Phillies,
I mean the city of Philadelphia really had a bad,
bad night. Eagles losing, Phillies losing two to one. They're

(16:36):
out of the playoffs. The Phillies, you get nothing, you lose,
Good day, sir, gone. Chicago Cubs, stayin alive, stayin alive,
beating the Milwaukee Brewers six nothing. Uh, looking checking the

(17:05):
other scores as well. Now it was just two games
tonight Friday. Today Mariners Tigers series tie to too. That
should be a good one going back to Seattle and
also comes Brewers going back to Milwaukee. Some good baseball
going on. It's been a tough two weeks. Yankees eliminated Mets.

(17:31):
Eliminated the Mets, at least save their fans some money
and heartache. Jets, the New York Football Jets. They suck, really,
I mean, the Giants had two and four. It's holding

(17:53):
the fort. Basketball hasn't started yet. Who really cares about basketball?
I do kind of like basketball. Used to love basketball
the New York Knicks, Patrick Ewing, Charles Oakley, but once

(18:14):
they traded both of them away, I was like, I
never liked James Dolan. So around the late nineties, after
they traded Patrick going away, I became a Nets fan
because it's New Jersey, picked up Jason Kidd. They went
on that run. Didn't win a championship, but it was
fun then. Now they're in Brooklyn, but also in the

(18:43):
in the NHL. Also in the NHL last night, Bruins
beating the Blackhawks in overtime four to three. Rangers shutting
out the Sabers for nothing. Kent can the Devils get
Tage Thompson. We've been talking about that the more the

(19:05):
Sabers lose, maybe the better. Canadians got the first win
of the season, beating the Detroit Red Wings five to one.
Senators over the Lightning five to four. Senators looking good
after making the playoffs last season. Panthers over the Flyers.

(19:29):
Panthers are now two to zero, winning two to one
Pittsburgh if Genny Malkin and Fuego looking good had three
assists last night, winning four to three over the Islanders.

(19:54):
Minnesota whild Augustason getting the shutout, beating the Blues five nothing,
Predators beating the BJS the Blue Jackets of Columbus two
to one. Predators getting off to a better start than
last season. Stars over the Jets score five to four.

(20:19):
The Colorado Avalanche beating the Utah Mammoth two to one.
Avalanche two oh to oh start the season. They're starting
off hot. One of those Stanley Cup contenders, Vancouver Canucks
beating the Flames five to one, Golden Knights over the

(20:48):
Sharks four to three in overtime, and the Seattle Kraken
beating the Anaheim Ducks three to one. Lots of games
in the NHL last night, whatever reason they're none of
these teams are playing on October tenth. I don't know.

(21:10):
I don't get that, but whatever kind of kind of
throws you off in fantasy hockey. Seeing all the comments
right now, Uh yeah, Ny Davis says, the Knicks are
where the hope lies. It's pretty sad, meadowlander. I wonder

(21:35):
how the Rag followers liked a two goal opening game
from ca Andre Miller. I thought it was bad to
have him go. Uh let's see here, Selective boy says.
The Senators look calm, collected with the puck, not gonna lie,

(21:57):
and the Shark's making dumb mistakes against Golden Knights. That's
to be expected. The Sharks are tanking, no pun intended anyway. Well,
I want to thank all those tuning in to the
morning woo. I forgot to get my coffee down here.

(22:23):
Behold your beverages high, do the ceremonial sip. Whoo. Make
sure that when you're at that water cooler at work,
you tell everybody it's just one game, even though it's
same old devil's It's just one game. We got Tampa

(22:47):
on Saturday. But yeah, and why David, when Nason comes back,
who sits? Well, that's how Sheldon Keith can hold players
accountable once Nason comes back, because somebody's got to sit.

(23:11):
And when you make stupid backhanded passes when your goalie
is pulled in the offensive zone when you're down one
with a minute remaining, you could send a message that's
just me. All right, we're gonna get out of here. Wow,

(23:32):
We're are six episodes in on the Morning Woo, but
then dropping the podcast at about twenty minutes, where over
one million downloads. I can't wait for our million party
on January seventeenth, when the Devil's take on, Yes, you

(23:55):
guessed it, the Carolina Hurricanes. We're gonna need all of
you there. We're gonna need every square foot of American whiskey.
Is gonna be one of the biggest parties of the
year twenty twenty six. But yeah, thank you, thank you,
thank you to all those tuning in on this Morning Woo.

(24:18):
Until next time. This is the Morning Wu. Let's go
Devils Morning Woo. Pretty bit better, pretty morning Oh mona,
my mon, oh well, I love you and I need
you morning. I love you Morning with the love soul
