Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to Living in Spain Podcasts with David Wright.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
So today on my show, I've got very special guest,
a good friend of mine, Alejandro Salvador from Salvador Tax
and Legal and as most of you know, Alejandro is
also the honorary British Consulate for al Maria. Hi Alejandro,
and welcome to the show.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Thanks for having me in the show.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
So, Alejandro, we talked earlier about this non loux di
visa amendment and the options that are available to people
if they want to start working here in Spain. I
believe you helped one of my private members on my
membership site to get this amendment. He's very happy now
that he's working here in Spain. He's over the moon
actually that he started working here. So the non luxive
visa and the changes, there are some options now, Alejandra,
(00:56):
I believe, yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
There are options.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
The thing is started when you applayed for the visa
in the UK. You have to go to the Spanish
embassy there and they will issue that visa.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
For one year.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
One of the contents, or one of the things of
that visa is that you cannot work in Spain or
have a business in Spain. But the thing is that
this is just for the first year, so you can
come to Spain and when you are going to renew
that you can do two months before expiring. So we
are telling that this is going to be like ten
(01:30):
months after.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
You are here. You could exchange. It's not an amendment.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
It's like an exchange of the non loocative visa into
let's say working visa or our second play visa. You have.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Let's say that you have three.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Options to renew that visa the normal system that is
the same that you use in the UK, that with
your money, with the rest of the requirements, you just
prove that you can live in Spain, you are not
going to work, or you can renew.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
With this let's say exchange to two ways as self employed.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
You could apply this exchange to be self employed they
leave or the requirement is that it needs to be
we need to do like a project of the how
it's going to be. The business needs to be approved,
which is really easy. We have done any kind of business,
(02:30):
not nothing important.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
You don't have to create jobs.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
We've done with bars, pairing, with painting, with taking care
of houses, so any business can be included as long
as is sensible.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
I always say that if you don't.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Have money or a lot of money, you should not
do a rocket company, for example. It should be sensible
the investment or the money that you can prove that
you have with the with the with the project that
you are doing. We know that for some businesses you
don't need much much match of things. You can do
it do a work online as I said, to do
(03:11):
painting or.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Yeah, that's that's exactly. My friend is set up a
painting business here today on the show, we've got Alejandro
several door from several door tax and legos. So Alejandro,
I believe that British people that come in here on
the non nugative visit, a lot of them will need
to work in in the future or possibly need to
find some extra a little bit of incomes and I
might want to work So this is an option that
(03:36):
could be open to them. Is that right?
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Yeah, Yeah, that's the that's this the third option that
you have to renew it that we said that the
first was as a normal look at the visa, second
with a business, and the third option is if you
have an offer, a job offer for a company in Spain,
if you have a job offer, you can again exchange
this non look at divisa or renew with with a
(03:58):
working visa that you're offer. So I mean the at
the end of the day, if the younger people or
people that are looking to continue working in the future,
it's just ten eleven months that they are not going
to work, that they should live from from at least
in Spain, they should live somehow from from the savings.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
But after that you are prepared to work.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
And as long as your offer is sensible, as your
business is more and more less sensible.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
You will will you will get it.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
We have no.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Negative feedback from the from the you know, foreign Office
in any of the projects that we submit, so it's
good news.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
So they could come here on the non neucrative vase
of for example, for the first twelve months and use
that time to get a job of a contract from.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Yeah, at the end of the day, it's even less
because it's since the moment you are approved, but you're
still in the UK. When you're when you are approved
in the UK from the Spanish embassy in the UK
and you don't come the same day, you probably stay
one month there packaging or whatever. With the removal and
then you come to Spain. And but we take that
(05:08):
date not the day that you come into Spain. So
at the end of the day, uh, it's a very
quick year. It goes very fast. And as long as
you have some savings to to leave that year, it
should be enough.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
So regarding more friend, then let's just call him joke
for this. Like the painter guy, when it comes up
for renew of his visa, his new visa, does he
just renew that for two years? Is it now?
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Correct? Now?
Speaker 4 (05:34):
The renewal is for two years. You when you come
to Spain, you get it for one year. Then the
first renewal or the first exchange is for two years,
and then another two years. When it's five, you have
the permanent resident that you need. You don't need to
prove that if he wants to when he's going to
renew in two years time, he will have to have
(05:55):
the business still or maybe the business is not going
as well. Way, he could go back to the old
system of the non look at the visa and yasproof
with money. At the end of the day, I understand
that what we want is that people stay here and
that they live here and they spend their money in Spain.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
That's great. Well, thank you very much Alejandro Salvador from
Salvedor Tax and Legal for join us on the show today.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
