Speaker 1 (00:13):
So you run dual forty nineties and a thread ripper
and a thread ripper. Interesting, make it water cool too?
Water cooled? Okay, well I'm thinking I still think the
liquid nitrogen is the way to go. But you know what,
am I I'm just some podcaster on the internet. Don't
listen to me because this is completely off topic. The
(00:34):
computer build is completely off topic. We're here to talk
about the new Magic set, which of course is Dusk
Morn House of Horrors.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I just as so fitting. We're recording this on Friday
the thirteenth.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I know it'd be a miss You mentioned it'd be
such a missed opportunity if we did it tomorrow. Yeah,
it had to be today.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I will agree with that. If to be absolutely honest,
I kind of got it was Friday the thirteenth until
you pointed, and I'm like, oh hey, look at that.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
If we're gonna do a cursed Magic screen, it's gonna
be on Friday the thirteenth.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
And some of the cards in this set are really
are cursed.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Oh man, there are cursed cards all over the place.
It's great. I'm your host, Isaiah, I'm Chris lot Flute. Okay,
so let's jump into it. So normally we talk about
the story, I haven't looked at the story. Honestly, do
you really want to look at the story with this? Not? Really?
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I feel to be absolutely honestly a lost story that
I was ever interested in for magic was Eldrich Moon.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Mine was marchd to the Machine, and it's like that
was so far away. It's just that the story is
just degraded so far.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
But then again, the last time I really plow this
end of the story other than like, because I haven't
played standard or anything since Eldrich Moon, so whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah, I play some arena but nothing beyond that. So
I don't care about the story. But there's some crazy
cards and here's some crazy cycles. So instead of talking
about the story, we're going to put that time towards
additional cards. Yeah, first of all, we got to start
with our cycles. Which our first one, of course, is
our overlords. If you want to take it off with
(02:16):
U the well, which overlorld do you want to cover?
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Oh that's an excellent question. Let's see what overlord we
should cover, because some of them are good and some
of them aren't. Um, I'm scrooling.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
And now Obs is misbehaving go figure. And it's not
on anything that anybody would notice. It's just something that
I'm noticing. Okay, so let's talk about it.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Let's let's just go through the colors because they're they're
some of the cards on the sud are really balanced.
I think most of them are actually really balanced, but
they seem more fun.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Yeah, so the impending stuff to start with the White
Overlord of the mis Mors. Yeah, impending, which is the
new mechanic of the set. Essentially, these are enchantment creatures.
You can cast them for their impending cost, and they
enter as enchantments with time counters on them, and then
(03:17):
every turn you remove a time counter and then eventually
becomes a creature.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah. That's that's really good.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Actually, it's an interesting ability. It lets you get the costs.
It's like it's like suspend pseudo suspend. It's weird because
these still are on the battlefield.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah, that is kind of interesting. It is interesting.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
So like impending for for for Mena on the overload
of the mismars here, when he enters or a text,
you create two to one insect tokens with flying honestly
looking at over them and this is why we're like
looking about them as a set and not individually. Anybody
remember the Titans?
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah, like the what was it?
Speaker 1 (04:00):
And of the sun Tightened Grave Titan. Yeah, these just
feel like the Titans with extra steps.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Tightens with extra steps and a little bit worse.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yeah, the impetting stuff can work. So, for instance, I
like something that the Overload of the hont Woods does
that when it enters or attacks, it creates the topped
colorless land token named everywhere every basic lands and it's like, okay,
(04:31):
so it's when it enters or attacks, which means for
three mana, you can get a free land. Yeah that's no,
it's not, of course if you these all have a
very specific not downside, but counterplay that you can run
with not counterplay, sorry loophole, Secure the bastards. I cast
(04:59):
Overload of the hot Woods for three I then flicker it.
It comes back as a creature. I get two lamb.
I get one land from it entering initially, I get
one land from it re entering and it's a creature
now mm So these things are pretty easy to mess with.
I feel like we're not going to see a ton
of play with them.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I don't either. I think standards where you're going to
see most of the play with them, but even then
it's probably gonna be pretty not great. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
No, they're not going to be that good in standard
just because of how much manecost they are, and they
don't really contribute to any strategies. Yeah, I like Overlord
of the hont Woods. You might be able to run
it in Commander.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
I will agree with that. That's probably the best one
as I'm looking through them. The bail Mirk might be
good for like a graveyard deck, but that's about it.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
The email four cards, then Riturn a non avatar creature
card Graveyard to your hand.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
You forgot the other one. It's a plane or a
planes walker or planes walker, so that's kind of interesting.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah, I mean, but braveyard decks want to put them
onto the battlefield. They don't want to put them in
your hand.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yeah. And then flood Pits is Brainstorm on a stick.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
You worse Brainstorm because its drave Tor cards and the
discarded card. Yeah, Brainstorm puts them on the top of
the deck.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Worst Brainstorm.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Unfortunately, the cycle is not that good.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
It's not unless someone figures out how to break them
with something other than flicker.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Yes, so flickering them. There is another set of another
cycle in this set that we want to cecle, and
we're not talking about the doors.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
No, the doors are a terrible mechanic.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Okay, let's talk about doors, the worst enemy of D
and D players ever. Now you're making the magic players
hate them too.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah, looking through these these are not good, like just
because hey, the costs, Like, I'm seeing six and seven
so and.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
I understand the concept of what they're going for. So
how doors work if you have I haven't seen what doors
and you're just seeing these doors slate, let me download
a door. Let me get a door, because we weren't
planning on talking about.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Doors in all reality, I don't. Costs are too high
for what they do.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yep. Okay, so doors they sucked.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
So you've got, for instance, this one, I've got doll
Maker's shop, and I actually have to rotate this on
screen because and and the fact that D and D
I mean magic the gathering is the first thing that's
making me rotate A freaking card gets me on my
nerves immediately. You're making me over here push buttons take
(07:43):
away from the camera.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Even this one you have don't maker shop up.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Right, yep. So how they work is what you pay
one side of the cost and it enters with that
side open, which means you get that. So, for instance,
you pay two dollmakers shop enters the battlefield. What are
more toy creatures you control? Attack a player create a
(08:09):
one to one toy artifact creature token.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
That's a token spanner. That's okay, but in all reality,
I'm looking at the second ability, and the second ability
is not worth it.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Yeah, creatures you control have base power and toughness equal
to the number of creatures you control.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Board wipe takes this coming out so fast?
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Well no, no, no, so well yeah, any boardwipe takes that.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
I will point out that I'm pretty good in that
token deck. Like a commanded token deck. I think that'd
be really good.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
It can do it. It could be a decent finisher.
My issue with rooms is they're not good when getting
cheated out. If you're cheating the card out, if you're
getting any way to get it out for free. The
rule state that both sides are locked, yeah, which means
when they enter, you still have to pay the manna
(09:00):
if you cheat these out, which is like because you
pay the extra costs one in the battlefield as a
sorcery to get the effect we are getting invaded by
a husky. I don't like that. It's really negating the
whole cheap factor of the card. Like matter's all about
getting the cards out. A lot of magic is cheating
(09:22):
the cards out, getting in them out for free, and
these you can't do it.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Yeah, that's I guess it's kind of a way to
get around it. But it's also like these are not
going to be they are not going to be very
expensive or very well used. Yeah, they might see a
couple of them every now and then, but they're not
going to be used that often. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
I just don't like the mechanic. The door mechanic is done.
Why not just make these double sided cards?
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Yeah exactly. I like double sided and I don't know,
but dor mechanic.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Is so dombe Honestly, I would take these as modal
double faced cards. Yeah, that would be way better in
my opinion. But I just don't think doors are Where's
that That's I get they're trying to seem it with
the horror house theme, but it's like play a door,
play a room.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Really, that's the room and knocked the knocked this room.
Get this. Yeah, and that's for the effects. It's just
a lot on manna. You're paying anywhere between probably like
eight and twelve mana. I think I think the black
ones like based cost.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Of so it's three or the other side is eight.
So essentially you can pay it for its two and
then pay the seven later. Yeah, so you can black one.
You can pay the uh three and then pay the
eight later.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
No, this is this is a this is a by now,
pay later kind of thing. That's what That's what it
feels like, which is honestly kind of hilarious to me.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
To the cycle that we were going to talk about.
We got to talk about the Enduring Cycle. Yes, because
I'm excited about the cycle. I like the concept of
these cards, the enduring cycles. So we're gonna start first
and foremost with the Enduring Innocence. Yes, the Sheep. Now,
the Enduring Cycle is a set of enchantment creatures that
(11:14):
when they die, they return to the battlefield as only.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Enchantments, which I think is really cool.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
So Enduring Innocence is a three man a cost creature.
It's a sheep glimmer. Whenever one or more creatures you
control with power to or less enter the battlefield draw hard.
This ability triggers only once each turn. Now we've been
seeing this ability quite a bit. I think the initial
one we saw was Tocassia is Welcome. But this is
(11:45):
on a body with life link, and it's like, okay,
you want to be attacking with these because even if
they block and kill it, it just comes back. Yeah,
as just an enchantment, no, which I think is better than.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Losing it.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
When they've got some good abilities. I gues said. Enduring
Innocence has that ability of UH drawing a card whenever
a small creature enters the Cossi is welcome. When uh
brother's work came out, we talked about Tokasi as well,
but welcome Tokasi is Welcome is good. And Tocostia Welcome
effects is really nice because it doesn't just trigger on
(12:21):
your churn. If you can create a token on somebody
else's churn, you get free card draw. Yeah, of course
you've got enduring curiosity.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Whatever creature you control deal's combat damage to a player
draw card.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
When it dies is returned. It as an enchantment. It's
not a creature. This one's interesting because it has flash yeah,
which is fun, which means that drag card neal commt damage.
You can do it after bloggers are declared. So this
thing justs out.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Yeah, I've got enduring tenacity. Whenever you gain life card
planet that's a the exclusive blood on a stick.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Yeah, so you didn't finish the sentence there. Whenever you
gain life, target opponent loses that much life.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
So, like I said, exclusive blood on a stake, which
is good.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
We need we like those kind of effects. And it's
a creature, which means you can remove it. Then it
becomes an enchantment if you kill it, so the that works.
Then you get enduring vitality, which gives your creatures tap
out one manna of any color. And during uh, during courage,
whenever another creature enters the battlefield, it gains plus two
(13:36):
plus h and haste end of turn.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Oh it's it's a creature you control.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Yeah, another creature you control so it doesn't hit itself.
And I like these cards. I really like the concepts
of these cards. Sack outlets are gonna love these their
little niche. The red's a haste enabler, The Green gives
you manna, gives you card draw, white gives you card draw.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Nowhere that white gives you card draw, you know, and
probably more car drow.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Their static effect is good even if they turn into
an enchantment.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Yeah. Also, by the way, the alternati art for those
cards are like the Excuse the Spirit animals, and they
are really cool looking. I quite enjoy them.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
I love these. Oh, look at these little guys. Look
at these little guys. You're you're enduring innocence and curiosity. Oh,
they're so cute.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
A little lamb that's adorable, which is.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Funny that we're getting like the really adorable cards and
a horror set. Horror set. I love that little thing. Okay,
So those are the major cycles in the set. There's
some other stuff in there. There's other cycles, but those
are the ones we're talking about.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
And there is lay lines in this but they're they're okay,
they're not great.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
The only notable lay line is lay line of the
Void HM, which is just a reprint. And there's a
bunch of cars to talk about here. First of all,
I'm gonna talk about something that I hate more than anything,
but I'm like, I would love to I can't wait
to see what it does grievous wound?
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Oh that card, But honestly I saw that, like, oh,
that is honestly hilarious that they put that in here.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
I have, but it also terrifying. So grievous wound is
enchantman aura the chant player. That player can't gain life.
Whenever they are dealt any source of damage. They lose
half their life rounded up, which means if you just
start hanging them, they's lose so much life.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Yeah, pining up for one and till they're down to
one and then you kill them with.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
One breakdost decks are gonna love this, Oh for sure.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Put it on the Life game deck player.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Put it on anybody and hit them once and it's like, okay,
all my stuff costs twenty less because rectose. I have
one complaint about this, this grievest wound. Why is it
not a curse?
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Yeah, it should be a curse.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Curse of the grievous Wound.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Yeah, I agree with that, it should.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Be a curse.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
We haven't had any curses in a while. We had a.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Curse deck a little bit. No, that was a while ago.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
No, that was a while ago. Still that capenna.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
It was later than copenna.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
It was.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
In a strud Yeah, yeah, it was instruction. Yeah. While
we're on the black card train, I think Chris wants
to talk about the Doomsday Excruciator.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Oh that card is so fun. Let me get to
it real quick.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
I'm just gonna give a quick overview and then Chris
can talk about what you can do with this wrap.
Doomsday Scruciator is six black man for a six to
six demon. Whenever it enters. If it was cast, each
player exiles all but the bottom six cards of their
library faced out at the beginning. If your keep drawing card.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
So the fun you know, the whole uh soul ring
into manacrypt into manivault or whatever order that goes into. Yeah,
you can do that. You can. I'm pretty sure you
can do that and get this out out on the field.
Turn one if you get that perfect turn.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Oh yeah, on the perfect turn you totally get set
up and then makes everybody scoop turn one. Yeah. But
this game in mono black, it's just a scoop card.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Yeah, this is I want the game to end. This
is your haymaker. This is also your win con.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
It's it's not even like a win con like you're
gonna cast it and win the game because wolves is
written unless you can kill them with this demon, the
six to six demon. You're gonna draw an extra card
every turn, which means you're gonna draw way faster than
your opponent. I just think, I just think it's dumb
and funny. I love it.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
It's funny. It's really it's really scoopy, that's what it is.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Yeah, it's one of those cards. No one's really gonna
play it, but there is a card that people are
going to play while we're while we're talking about black cards,
we got to talk about Demonic Council.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
But it's a it's a pretty decent demonic tutor, I
will agree.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
SoCal at. Basically, it's one in a black search your
library for a demon card, reveal it, put it into
your hand. If you have delirium, which is four more
card types in your braveyard, which is so easy. You know,
you throw an artifact creature in there, you throw an
enchantment in there, you throw a land in there. It's
super easy to get delirium. When you have delirium 'sueless,
(18:51):
you serve for anything.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Yeah, and then two minutes.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
So it's a demonic tutor.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Yeah, that's the amount with an extra step. But that
extra step is really easy.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
It's a really easy extra step. This is going in
graveyard decks everywhere.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Oh for sure.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Well Drotha is getting this for sure. Now there's one
that's funny just for its art, less funny for its art,
more funny if you take a closer look at the art.
And we're gonna blow it up, so you know it
said immediately. We're talking about the Jolly balloon Man.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Ah the balloon Man, which.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Of course is three man, a cost hasty boy a
one in it to create a token that's a copy
of another creature you control, except it's a one one
red balloon creature and it just do its other colors
and types and it has flying in hay sack it
at the next end step.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
My base. This is.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
What's going on with my computer that base. This is
a worse kiki ji, but it's funny.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
That's funny.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
It is also a human clown. There's a human clown
that is blowing up faces. Now there's another card that
is very tricky that I want to see people play.
The math nerds are gonna love. It's Simon all questioning
as being of your end step. If a land entered
(20:28):
under your control this churn, and you control a prime
number of lands, create primo the indivisible, a legendary zero zero,
green and blue fractal creature to good and then put
that many plus one plus one counters on it. I
don't feel like prime numbers, kiddos.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
That is awesome.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
And then it lists a bunch of the prime numbers
to thirty one, which makes sense, but it can keep going.
I hope you know your prime numbers.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Mm hmm, that is on it. That's yeah, that's definitely
for the math words. That isn't an awesome card, though.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Get this picture of your punts is are you getting
one this churn? Next cheurn? When's your next prime number
of lands? This is two, three, five, seven, eleven, thirteen, seventeen, nineteen,
twenty three, twenty nine to thirty one. No one without
that text at the bottom, that that like info text
would be able to go off the top of the
(21:32):
head unless you're a math teacher.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Or just or just know your prime numbers very well.
That's it.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
We're we've got it. Next Smander deck Simon all questioning fractals,
nothing but fractals.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Awesome, it's gonna be stupid. Yeah, that would be really stupid.
It's like that's almost like tribal chairs, almost, except this
one actually has a strat.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Now we've also got some planes walkers that lost their
spik mm hmmm, so we kind of got to talk
about it. Do you want to discuss? Uh, well, I
get everything up.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Where is it our wondering our wondering companion that has
apparently no longer cursed to wonder? I think she still is,
But she's not a planet walker in the side, which
is really confusing. That'd be the wandering rescuer. Yeah, three
colorless and what she has flash she's a human samurai,
(22:32):
Noble says convoke. So that double double strike and their
tapped creature you control have hack proof. Lore Wise, it's
really confusing as to why she's not a plant walker.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
No, no, Lori Wise, I understand why she's not a
plan the machine stuff, ah, okay, especially when the when
the Pyrexians like shoved their tree into the hole of
the universe. When the universe fixed itself, it took a
bunch of sparks from blaze Walker's Okay, we've been seeing
(23:06):
that over the past few sets. I'm trying to think
of who else lost their spark, Rascal spark, uh Nissa
lost her spark, Farn lost his spark. A bunch of
characters lost their sparks, and so we're getting creature versions Tivar.
But the Wondering Rescue pose a very This is a
(23:28):
very interesting question. Why is she still wandering? Yeah, she
is the Emperor of Kamagawa. I know she handed off
the position to light Eyes in Kamawa. This is the
lot of stuff that we shouldn't be talking about. Why
is she still wandering unless she's looking for her way home,
(23:48):
because honestly, she should have just returned to Kamagawa and
assumed the throw. Yeah, her good boy is waiting for
Yoshimaru the ever Faithful is waiting for her, or Sheiba
is sitting on the throne waiting for her. She banded
her dog, so I can never forgive her. I do
(24:10):
want to see a Comagawa civil war arc.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
That would be awesome, just just to get all the
Yeah is an interesting place, Tomaga is.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
An interesting place. We get another Comagaa set, but we
also get to see uh the fight for the Throne. Yeah,
we've got two other planes walkers here as well. We've
got tybarmer m hm, hi bar. How do we discuss Tivar?
Speaker 2 (24:42):
That is an excellent question. How do we discuss tybar?
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Okay, so Tyvar the pumbler tap another untyped creature you control,
tybar gain is indestructible in some kind of turn tap
it really wait, good way to defend this elf warrior. Hey,
five features you control get plus x ex plus x
until end of turn, where x is the greatest power
among creatures you control. That's not a tappability that is repeatable,
(25:07):
and that does not say it's sorcery speed. That is
that instant speed folks.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Oh no, let's I think Monel Green Dice has got
even more powerful ball of ball fall.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
I'm saying he goes right elfball.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Yeah, I agree with that, but uh, that just means
so stupid. He give them plus x plus x and
then you do it again and they can it's doubling.
Oh no, that is definitely an elf ball strap.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
And then, of course our last places are often to
talk about is Nico light of hope. Let me uncover
my beautiful face. You guys need that, you need to
see us. We're covering ourselves with cards. Okay, Niko Light
of Hope. The cards don't want to be a part
of Nico. I'm sorry. I don't like Nico as a character.
(26:01):
I've never liked Nico, and there's a reason for that.
I swear. I've seen this character in like ten different movies.
You know, uh, the same kind of character. H browner complexion,
who shaved head, hair swept to the side. We've seen
this character a billion times. I don't know who out
(26:24):
there needs this character to exist a billion times. Nico
Light of Hope enters the battlefield. Create two sharks are
there enchantments with pay two sacket scri one than draw
card exil another non flicker, non legend and creature you control.
Shards you control becomes copy of copies of it until
(26:46):
the beginning of the next end step return it to
the battlefield under its owners. So flicker your creature, your
sharts become copies. Yeah, now, let's flicker Nico a bunch.
Let's make a bunch of sharks.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
And then play something stupid like I don't know creator hoof.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Exactly. Now we're almost out of cards to talk about,
but there's only a couple. We got to start and
talk about a screaming nemesis. I can't believe there's something
called a streaming nemesis and I am here for it.
(27:24):
Of course, it's a spirit with haste three three or
three mana. When it is dealt damage, it deals that
much damage to any other target. If a player is
dealt damage this way, they can't gain life for the
rest of the game.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
This is the way to completely newter life game decks
three mana.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Let's ruin the life game strategy completely and I love it. Like, okay,
now we got to talk about the funny cards, such
as the meatthook Massacre two.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
So then they called it the hook a meat hook
massacre two.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
They come up with another name. They're just like meat
hook massacre two. I feel like this is I understand
the joke, which is the like sequel joke. Yeah, and
they definitely nailed it because the sequel is worse.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Than the origes.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Uh, they nailed it. The sequel is always worse than
the original except a terminator and aliens. Yeah. When it
enters target, player sacrifices ex creatures. I'like the hook massacre
that costs x. This one costs x.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
X, which I think ties more of those sequel stuff,
which is hilarious.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
And then if a creature you control dies, you may
pay three life for turn to your control with a
finality counter. When oppone's control, you may pay three life
if sorry. Whenever a creature opponent controls dies, they may
pay three life if they don't riturn that car under
your control of the finality counter. What a weird card.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
It's like an.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
But on yours, it's you that pays. If it's somebody
else's creatures, they pay m and they come on with
finality counters. So if you sack them all, they get exiled.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
All right, there's one other card, but I there's sorry.
There's probably a couple more. This is the last one.
And it's just funny that they made it cannon the
unidentified hover ship. They made UFO's cannon.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
UFOs are cannon boys that vehic aliens are coming.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
That's a vehicle two white, one colorless. When unidentified hovererships,
the battle enters up to one target creature with toughness
five or less when it leaves the exiled connor excelled
cards owner dread and it's got a crew cost of
(30:02):
one too.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
For so it enters an exile something and then it's
a vehicle. Yeah, it's not a good card.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
That's not a good card.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
It's just hilarious, like it's cheap removal. But it's great
that they made these this canon overall, Dust More as
a set, dust Morn has some great cards. I feel
(30:32):
like they failed in what they were going for, which
was a horror set.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
I will definitely agree with that because this seems more
like it seems more like making fun of horror almost.
It's not necessarily like this would have been really like
you were saying earlier, this has been a really good
to like show how much the Ferrecians affected everybody.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
The terror that could really be posed by the by
magic yeah, and tear that it could show if they chose,
But they took a different direction. They went with the
camp which I'm kind of disappointed about. I didn't want
the campy horror set. I wanted the horrifying set I want.
I was promised the horror set after the Bunny set.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Yeah, this is campy horror, not true horror.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
Yeah, And I'm like, I feel like every set has
been that way since March of the Machine. Well, let's
we had the Western set seeing pretty well, but it
was still camp.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
You know, you got cards like high Noon and should
the Sheriff, And then you've got the Bloomborough set, which,
by the way, we got railed on for calling it
a furry set. We got so much crap for that.
That's true, though, the resident Fury agrees. Hey, you decided
(32:00):
to play a hair and Gone once and suddenly you
become a furry. I didn't know that was how that worked,
Otherwise I wouldn't have played a hair and Gone. But
after that, I was hoping this would be like a
breath of fresh air from all the camp and all
the like fun whimsy and get back to like the
Magic's Dark set. I'm like, even in Astrade wasn't dark,
(32:23):
it wasn't super dark. I wanted I wanted a darker
Magic set, and I didn't get it here. Everyone kind
of expected a darker set. It was dusk mort It's horror.
It's supposed to be. You know, everyone is trying to
get out of a magical house that a demon is controlling. Yeah,
and we got horror slasher.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Mmm ah, Okay, I've talked about this. You can't talk
about value of this. Set because it has good cards
in it. Yeah, I would say play your play your
sealed events, pick.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Up your singles Algritha. That sounds nice, But.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Opening a pack wouldn't be the worst idea. You could
open some paps by a box.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
That one't either.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Overall, sleep I got to give this set of five
straight average.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
I'll give it a five as well. That's not the best,
it's not the worst.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
It's not great, it's not bad. It's just five out
of ten, which I'm disappointed with. Is this the first
Magic set we've given five out of ten?
Speaker 2 (33:35):
I think? So that's either a seven or three.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Yeah, Like it's either seven or three. It's either really
good or really bad. We haven't had average, and I'm like,
Magic cannot survive with average.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah, we can't survive with mediocre. Mediocre is not the
way to go.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
Yeah, especially with other games coming for it like lor Kana,
what is the other one? Blood and Rage?
Speaker 2 (34:04):
No, I don't know, You're you're more more first in
the other games. Yeah, that I am.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
There's a bunch of other card games that have come out,
and I'm not talking about the billion Japanese anime card games.
SUREL don't get me started on those. Don't don't let
me rant about those. I will get on a soapbox.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
I will not. I will rip the soapbox out from
under you.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Good, that's why you're here. But you've got a ton
of other card games that are coming out that are
well designed, have a lot of money behind it, and
they're coming from Magic. Yeah, and it's like, okay, no,
Magic's market is decreasing because of these other games you
(34:50):
cannot get. You cannot move forward with average.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Yeah, your set's I'm.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Not even talking the the other world sets. Your Assassin's Creeds, yeah,
which we're pretty good. Actually Assassin Creed set, we never
didn't cover it, but it was actually pretty good. Interesting
because I've kind of limited the Magic sets too. This
would be doing a Magic episode like every other week.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
I miss.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
The only releases were every three months, and that is
why I'm only covering main sets. That's sounded like these
weird off sets, But you can't get get through with mediocre.
Your standard sets cannot be mediocre. You need to have
good uh thunder Junction, great, Bloombero surprisingly good. Yeah, Usk
(35:44):
moore me, especially the time when like Magic needs that.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
When yeah, this in all honesty. I'm actually going to
downgrade my writing to a four because yes, it has
good cards, but the theme kind of ungrades it.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
And that's why I'm average, because because it's not what
we it's more camp. This is almost like, do you remember,
like the Innstra days when we didn't have all this
meat hook massacre too stuff in the camp and your
horror was like Avison Archangel Avison, I remember those days.
(36:27):
Let's see. I just want to magic, to go back
to having a good strong story and them basing the
cards around that good strong story. It's not happening.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
M hm.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
That's everything that we got to talk about. Desk morenon.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
By the single as you want months about it, ye,
play sealed if you want to. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
Of course we're a little bit early, so you'll be
able to know some stuff before the prayer least. I'm
Hostiah Chris. We're locking up
