(00:00):
Aliety, folks. We're back foranother week. We took a couple of
weeks off. Well, I thinkthese shoes, there's really nothing to cover,
There's Yeah, there wasn't much tocover as well as we had things
we need to do on our offtime as well. Yeah, between everything
that was going on with me andeverything that was going on with you,

(00:22):
there was some definitely some things wehad to get taken care of. Of
course, there was also a verylarge lull in content for the last month
or so. Yep. Now we'restarting to get a little bit more content
coming in for as far as gamesin general, Yeah, the gaming,

(00:42):
the gaming front has been rather slow. The good news is we've got Modern
Horizons three yep. And of coursewith Modern Horizons three comes some killer new
cards. They put a lot ofwork into the set. I feel like
they overdid it a little bit,but I'm gonna get into that as we

(01:03):
go through it. As always usuallywith Magic sets, how we do it
as we break down the story ofthe set. Unfortunately this is a Horizon
set, there is no story.Disappointing with all the stuff they brought into
it, and then we break downthe cards, and then we talked about
the set as a whole. Sobut because there's no story, we're just

(01:25):
gonna jump right into the cards, which is always cool, because this set
has some killer stuff. And tokick it all off, we're gonna start
with some new El Drazi Titans. We're gonna start with the Big Boy himself,
the one that got banned or becauseit's original is so powerful. We
got to talk about about Emracle theworld new. Now, when you cast

(01:49):
the spell, gain control of allcreatures target player controls. I feel bad
for the token decks that play againstthis guy, all creatures. So when
you cast, you take take allcreatures flying protection from spells and from permanence

(02:09):
that were cast this churn. Sono ETB boardwipe, no et not boardwipe.
Sorry, no ETB kills spell,no ETB creature removal, nothing like
that. You can't run anything likethat against this new Emraicle. When it
leaves the battlefield, sacrifice all creaturesyou control. Yeah, I'm just gonna

(02:34):
I'm gonna take all your stuff andkill at all because I'm bored. Yeah.
Uh. And then it's got amadness cost, so madness six colorless
manna madness of course, holy crapmadness is pay six colorless, so if
you discard it, you pay thesix. Good news is unlike other l
Drozi titans. Once this thing isgone, it is gone for good.

(02:55):
It doesn't shuffle itself back into yourdeck. It doesn't shuffle your grave.
We are back into your deck.It just it goes off and it leaves
unless you have something to pull itfrom the graveyard. It also does not
have indestructible So once again, Emericalcan be killed by twelve squirrels. We

(03:15):
need our army of squirrels. No, no, yeah, twelve squirrels.
We can take them out with twelvesquirrels, as God intended. Hey,
if you'd think about it, squirrelsare terrifying in high numbers. A pack
of squirrels would be terrifying. Butwe're not gonna get onto that. I
think we've had that conversation before.Maybe I don't know. We'll have it

(03:36):
later. We'll have it later.Oh right. We forgot some announcements though,
before we get started. We're alreadyin the heat of things, we
already start. But we have someannouncements. First of all, we are
planning a giveaway. We are doinga giveaway with the set. The set
will We won't be doing the giveawayhere on Twitch. We will be doing
it through YouTube. So if you'rewatching the it hit that, subscribe the

(04:00):
like and leave a comment on themain video. If you're watching the short,
tell us your favorite card, tellus anything you like, talk about
how bad the set is, butleave a comment. We have a doubling
season. We have a Demonic Tutor, we have a Vampiric Tutor. We're
giving away some heavy duty cards.Oh yeah, of course that'll that.
People will be announced probably next weekon the show. The other big announcement

(04:24):
that we have is this August.Mark your calendars for you in the US
area, Armada is having Armada.Legion is having a GT here in Salt
Lake City through the Salt Lake Open. Armada would love to have our people
around. If you watch our Armadaepisodes, if you like Legion, if

(04:45):
you like miniatures, pop down, play some Armada. It's gonna be a
blast. It's not just supposed tobe Armada. Aren't they supposed to be
also doing I think Warhammer as well. Yep so, But for for the
AMG stuff, it is all fivegame lines, so it is Lesion.
It is shatter Point, it isArmada, it is x Wing, and

(05:09):
it is Marvel Crisis Protocol. We'regetting a full GT here in Salt Lake
City, so come down and supportplay the games. Anyway, on with
the show, back to Americal now. Emericle is pretty simple as far as
abilities go. You gain all creatures, you sack all creatures when it leaves

(05:30):
leaving the battlefield. That this thingis going to be harder than you think,
although there's some stuff you can doto mess with people. If you
find a way to flicker this thingwith a permanent I'm looking at you,
Mismeta witch. If you can flickerthis thing and they just sack all creatures
they control, you know. Itsays that it has protection from spells and

(05:54):
permanence that were cast this churn.Okay, so what about your what is
it called pipe bomb deck? Aslong as Ashling didn't enter the battlefield,
isn't that an ability? Yes,but it would have protection from it if
Ashling had entered the battlefield, becauseyou can't take damage from the source,

(06:17):
so Ashling wouldn't be able to takethis out. We're spending too much time
on Amracle. He's not even themost interesting one. Let's move to COEs
elec so COEs elect. When youcast the spell, up to two target
players each manifest two cards from theirhands. Each card manifested this way,
you draw a card one holy crap. Two target players, so it could

(06:42):
be you, it could be someoneelse. You manifest two cards, put
them from your hand face down. You can turn them face up. Takes
two cards out of your opponent's hand, puts them on the field as two
twos. If they don't have themanage to cast them. Guess whether two
twos although they have the manda toplay them. Because this thing comes out,
turn nine other colorless creatures you controlget plus three US two. He's

(07:03):
not very interesting, he's not verygood. Everybody manifests and then he just
gives his his color his morphe andhis manifest cards are now five twos,
and I guess his ULDRASI sponsor fivetwos. He just buffs his creatures,
which sadly is disappointing for him.Although you do get to draw cards,
so you'll get to draw four whenit when you cast it. Those two

(07:25):
were a lot more terrifying before.Yeah, they lost their scare factor now.
Ulamagh, on the other hand freakingterrifying. I so the set isn't
actually released. We had pre releasedthis weekend, which means the actual release
is next week. Ulamag the Defilercause, Alex and em, what is

(07:48):
going on? You're hitting the wrongbuttons. There we go, I am
okay. The Defiler he is thescary one of the three. He's why
we want to talk about because heis stupid powerful. When you cast the
spell, target opponent exiles exiles halftheir library rounded up. Can we put

(08:13):
it in a mill deck easily? This thing could easily be in a mill
deck because it's just ten exile halfyour deck. Holy crap, that's what's
worst thing? Mill that? No, it's a cast. It's a cast
trigger, not an eating trigger.Your commander. Then that's what we're scared
of is colorist decks will start runningUlamag the Defiler as a commander. Of

(08:39):
course, if you see an Ulamagathe Defiler hit the field, you gotta
kill it quick. Uhamang the Defiler, though, is such a terrifying card.
That's just its first ability. Thisthing is so loaded with abilities ward
sacrifice, two permanents. If youwant to target this thing, you gotta
sack two permanents Ulamang, the defilerenters the battle filled with a number of

(09:00):
plus one plus one counters on itequal to the greatest man of value among
cards in exile. So if youhit somebody's Eldrasi Titan with this, if
you hit a emerkal for some reasonand it's now twelve tote, this thing
enters with twelve plus one plus onecounters and then he has annihilator X,
where x is the number of oneone counters on it. And that's that's

(09:22):
the worst part, because it doesn'tyou can add one one counters. I
mean, I have a token deckthat I can that I've set up where
I go nuts my tokens get endup with what was it, plus like
sixty one to one counters. Yeah, you can end up with a ton

(09:46):
of one one counters on this andit just gets strong annihilator. The good
news is with all these Uldrasi Titanand why I am like, they're scary
Ulla Monk's the scariest one. Andof course these are massive creatures. These
are game ending creatures. If youcast them, the game is over.
Whether you win or lose, thegame will be it coming to an end.
If you cast Uham, somebody's probablyjust gonna scoop on cast because taking

(10:07):
out half someone like that. Butthink about it, because we were looking
at this, we were looking atthe deck and just with this entire set
and all the cards that are init, there is a reprint branching evolution.
Yeah, double one one counters oneencounters would be put on it.
The good news is so because ofthe wording, branching evolution does not work

(10:31):
with the Ulamug. There's a differencebetween for those that don't know, there's
a difference between putting one one counterson something and things entering with one one
counters. There is yep. Soit is not a triggered effect. It's
I can't remember the wording. It'snot as I know, it's not a

(10:52):
replacement effect, but there's a becauseit doesn't trigger anything. This replacement effect
of branching evolution, that would notwork with unless you're gonna put additional one
one counters because it specifies if itwould be put on a creature. These
years, Ulamagh enters with the counters. You're not putting the counters on him,
he is entering with them. Ididn't know, Yeah, it's a

(11:15):
weird little rules interaction and chat. These rules interactions are so weird in magic
now. These guys are terrifying inthemselves. If you want to piss off
a judge, any if any ofyou go to a magic tournament and you
want to piss a judge off likenone other, you play a banding deck.

(11:37):
You play banding, and you willtick off everyone in the room,
eccluding the judges because the judges willprobably disagree about how banding works, because
banding has like one hundred pages inthe rules, because banding was such a

(11:58):
complicated ability. Honestly, I justfeel bad for the judges. I couldn't
memorize all that and if you andyou don't need to memorize all of them,
but you need to know them, which means it's like, okay,
well you're dealing with this corner casehere, and it's like, okay,
you're dealing when you're dealing with cornercases. That that happens sometimes, But

(12:20):
overall, I'd say Ulamagh by faris the most terrifying of the Eldrazi Titans
in this But we're not done withthe El Drazi yet because we got to
talk about the new El Drazi commanderthat's came out, not from the Commander
deck, we're not talking Ulalek, but from the actual set. We have

(12:41):
a commander for El Drazi Harragast eruptingknol Kite. Are you putting this in
your Dragon deck? Maybe emerge Dragon? Yeah, so emerge it's nine mana,
but it has emerged eight. Soyou can cast the spell by sacking
a creature and paying the emerged costreduced by that creature's man of value.

(13:07):
So if you cast a six mano cost creature to this thing, it
costs two mana. And when youcast the spell, you can exal your
hand to draw three cards. Sowhen you can't, it's a may ability.
So if you really want to,you you can ditch your hand and
see you've got no cards in hand. It's just cast draw three cards or

(13:30):
that. That's really good to commander. But it's ability as cap flying.
It's a six six. It's gota good power on it. Each creature
spell you cast has emerge, theemerged cost is equal to its mano cost,
So now everything you can sack anothercreature to play it for cheaper.

(13:52):
H and This thing's considered red becausethe emerged cost is red, so it
is red. So you can act, actually play not just colorless but colorless
red. Fascinating card. This guyis can be such a fun commander.
Now the reason why I bring thisguy up. Don't don't you creep back
on here, Ulamag. Don't youcreep? No? No, no,

(14:15):
no, no no, don't youdare? Ulamag is the better commander.
Okay, Oh, by far,Ulamag is the better commander. Go away,
Ulamagh. I don't want to talkto you, but Harrogast will be
more fun for everybody at the table. Oh probably. Yeah, you sit

(14:35):
down with the Ulamag and you sayI'm playing I'm playing El Drazzi and you
reveal Ulamag as your commander. You'renot making it to turn ten. No,
you're not making it to turn five. Everyone is going to kill you
before you cast that thing. Ohguaranteed they will. They will not hesitate.
You are the arch enemy number one, and you will feel bad because

(15:00):
they will be piling everything on you. And everybody who plays Commander knows that
politics is half the game. Youwin or lose on the politics. You
can play the game perfectly. Youcan have the perfect hand and if they
look at you and say you're thethreat, you cannot handle three players holding

(15:20):
counter spells. And that's why alot it's so much fun to play a
group hugdeck because by the time theyrealize that they are dying, it is
too late. And it's like hairGas is more fun because you get to
run Ulamah. You get to run. You get to run all of the
Eldrazi titans in there, and theydo major things because they get in there

(15:43):
and you can sack them to castother things. You can be like,
I'm gonna play six cost El Drazi. I'm gonna sack that six cast El
Drazi, pay four and cast ulamgRight, It'll be more fun with everybody
for hair Gaest because he's more fun, he's a more interest commander. He's
doing something. There's only one planesWalker that we're gonna talk about, and

(16:07):
that let's just make an example ofthis the cycle, because we do talk
about all the cycles. I don'twant to go through every one of this
this cycle, but we can atleast talk about a Johnny. He's one
of our There's a cycle of Yepof war cats. Yeah, battle cats,
battle cats. There's a cycle ofplanes walkers in this set that are

(16:30):
the creature planes walkers that flip andtransform when it enters the battlefield. To
mana, you create too one warriortoe cat Warrior. Whenever another cat dies,
you exal it return it to thebattlefield. This is just an example.
I'm glad we have more of these. From origins. We got the
single color ones and those are greatcommanders. Those are so much fun to
play in Commander, and to getmore of them that have similar abilities.

(16:53):
You know, Sorein has x storethat kind of thing. And now we
have a double color ones. Sowhen you build these as Commander, you
have their two color commanders. Becausein the command zone they don't care about
single color costs, they care aboutidentity. And because the flip side for

(17:14):
like a Johnny is red and white. You if you guys don't know how
to read those, the little symbolright next to legendary plains Walker that has
the red and white, those donote its colors. That's interesting. So
these things are red and white. So each of these are two colors.
The raw is blue and red,the soarin is white and black. Tamio

(17:36):
is blue and green, so youcan get your two color commanders. You
know, now you can runs JohnnyCats, Boros battle Cats while we're on
the cat train. While we areon the cat train, Jake, do
you want to talk about our asaloonthe pride of the Osalot or Osalot pride

(18:03):
really really cool? You might aswell. You could swap those back and
forth all you want. But thefact that you have it. It has
first strike and lifelink. Great,it's a one one, it's not really
gonna hit very hard, still mightdie, but it has ascend which is

(18:27):
oh, it's nice. The abilitythat they have for a send in this
is awesome because they have it atthe beginning of your end step. If
you gain life, this turn createa one one white cat uh creature token.
Then if you have cities blessing, which is your ascend or was that

(18:52):
a reading for each token you controlthat entered the battlefield, this turn create
a token that's a copy of itphenomenal card. I play a token deck,
so it's it's always fun to have, you know, just one of
those. Let's toss in another token, doubler. This thing is one mana

(19:19):
especially as one manna. This thingis one mana. Now he talked about
it with his green white token deck. You know, you just have this
little token doubler in there. Wellnot only that, but no, keep
going, oh uh, not onlythat, but how my token deck is
set up is when a token entersthe battlefield, uh, I gain life,

(19:45):
So I gain life equal to itstoughness. So every time a token
enters the battlefield, I gain life. So no matter what, if I
play this card, I'm getting itssecond ability every time. And the thing
is is it it's even worse becauseit does not specify creature token, so
you can duplicate your you can uhcopy what are they called treasures, food

(20:12):
clues, You can copy all ofthose. Now he talks about it from
that angle, like you just geta copy all of your tokens. You
gotta do all this. But Ozoriis blue is a thing now there.
This thing is not legendary. Thatis the scary thing. This thing is

(20:33):
not legendary. So when it comesto other formats, because in Commander you
only can have one of them,no matter what, well, well you
can still copy it if you're runninga blue or you're running like Helm of
the Host or something. You createa token copy of this thing. Okay,
that thing enters you gain a lifeany number of ways. Gaming life's
not that hard at your end step. What happens if you have two of

(20:56):
these things is at the beginning ofthe end step, if one's a token,
the first one will go, Okay, well, this is a triggerability.
I'll create a cat. Then I'lldouble all my tokens, so I'll
create two cats, and I'll createanother Osalot pride. Yeah. Then the
second one goes, oh, Igain life. I'm gonna get a cat.
I'm gonna get a cat. Isee two tokens into the battlefield this

(21:21):
turn. That are copies of me. I'm gonna copy both of them next
round. Next turn, you havefour Osalot prides, and they keep doing
this at your end step every time, because gaining life isn't that hard.
The second you start putting copies,as soon as Blues starts committing tax fraud,

(21:41):
it's over. Well, not onlythat, but what's worse, the
counterfeiting in Blue needs to stop.Because how many token doublers do I have
in my deck? Three? Four? I think it was five? Five?
Yeah, I think I think wehit as many as we could.
I think there's no we're one missingone. Yeah, I don't think we

(22:02):
have the token tripler. No wedon't, but we have, but we
have the token doublers. So okay, I'm gonna create a copy of this
that's a token. Oh all,my token doublers are out. I create
six of them. End step, they all see each other. We create
another fifteen. This thing is gonnaget out of hand fast. People when

(22:22):
I'm talking about this, Honestly,a lot of people say this card is
gonna settle around fifty dollars. Icould see it. I don't believe it.
I see this thing seeing modern playbecause of that lifelink and first strike,
because you can pump it and allof a sudden, it's a four
to four with first strike for onemanna and it creates a bunch of cats
and you gain life and all ofthat. It's a fantastic card. And
since we're kind of going through fantasticcards, I want to get off that

(22:45):
train and talk about the worst cardthat was brought. They tried to make
another necro another necro. Uh whatis it necromancy or something like that,
not necroman and see necwordominance is thecard that they made it. There's another
card that's similar to it. It'sactually a Gwin con in a lot of

(23:10):
decks. But this thing is notas good as it. So the Necrodominance
three Black legendary enchantment off the creaturetrain for a second. Beginning of your
end step. You can pay anyamount of life. If you do,
you may draw that many cards.Your maximum hand size is five. If
a card or token would be putinto your grave beard from anywhere, exile
it instead. Now this is themdoing what they do where they're trying to

(23:33):
make another thing really good, butthe other thing is so good already that
you're just putting limitations, you knowwhy? And I get this is going
into modern So the other card thatI'm talking about, what its ability is,
it's very similar to this. Youdo you cannot draw cards. It's
not skip your draw set, it'syou cannot draw cards, is the other

(23:55):
one. But it says, atany time you can pay a life,
exile of card, and then atthe next end step put it in your
hand. Hmm, Why would yourun this when you could run that?
And I get that that that thatone's not modern legal, probably not.
But now this one will be Yeah, this one's modern legal. That's the
difference. And I just want toput that in there. It's a short

(24:18):
suite. Yeah, it's not thatgood. The next card. People are
saying it's the next people are sayingit's the next cyclonic rift. I'm not
convinced. I'm not convinced that thisis the next ciclonic rift. Ugan's binding
three manna as devoid, instant bounce, target online, permanent, you don't

(24:41):
control to its owner's hand. I'mnot. And then, of course people
are saying this because of its otherside ability whenever, not other side but
bottom ability. Whenever you cast acolorless spell with MANA seven or grader,
you may exile this card from yourgraveguard when you do return each nonline permit.
You don't control to its owner's hand. Sounds good, sounds really good.

(25:07):
You cast something seven or greater, you exile this from your graveyard.
You have a one sided board, wipe it does the cyclonic rift ability.
People saying this is the next cyclonicrift, but you have to wait till
at least turn eight. Not tomention, not to mention. You have
to cast something of seven or greaterthat is colorless and Uldrawsi Titan and Uldrasi

(25:33):
titan an l Drawsi a big artifact. I'm not convinced that this can be
just like cyclonic rift, because cyclonicrift adds in its versatility. You can
either bounce one or you can bounceeach. Odds are of you casting a
colorless spell with man of seven orgreater. It's gonna be at sorcery speed.

(25:56):
It doesn't matter that this is aninstant speed. That spell is at
s story speed. So for welooked at another card, the uh gave
it pretty much everything flash yeah,h and those things exist around. But
odds of you holding up ten manajust to get this haha, I'm gonna
Ugin's binding you. It's like, okay, why would I run up too

(26:18):
much? Way too much set up? And sure you get that one side
boardwipe. But what the issue isI Ugan's binding. I do that.
What's to stop somebody from going syiconicdrift right just to watch him go?
Well, there goes my plan.Yeah, this thing, you catch your
seven or greater spell, it hitsthe field, you get exactly agains binding.

(26:41):
You bounce everything and the guy acrossthe table goes. Psyclonic Drift Rift
response to ETB Rift. Everything goes, everything goes. I'm not convinced that
Hugan's binding is good. I'm notconvinced that it is the next cyclonic rift.
I don't think we're gonna get anotherpsychlonic rift. Cyclonic Drift is just

(27:03):
too good. My favorite combo Iremember playing it in high school. This
is one of my favorite combos thatwe ever played in high school was when
you were playing what was a HiveMind and then you played Psyclic Crift,

(27:26):
and it's just like that becomes onesideboardline becomes all sided. It's you're chaos.
I'm just like I said, I'mjust not convinced that this is as
good as people say it is.It requires too much stutup. You have
to cast this, have this inyour graveyard and then cast your seven or

(27:47):
grader, whereas rift just has tobe in your hand. And guess what
rift can be searched up with Spellseeker. It can be searched up with all
kinds of things. There's a lotof cars that say search up an instant
with manitur, a couple of thingsthat search up an instant. Man of
two or less. This thing's manof three. You can't grab this with
a spell seeker out of your deck. You can't grab this with things like
that. And it's like, ohwell, I can't grab this, which

(28:11):
means you have to draw into it, which means if you're playing modern,
you're running four of these, you'replaying an Aldrasi deck. Sure you can
bounce one thing, but then you'vegotta wait till you hit that seven manner
or greater. It is just notas good as people say it is.
And I'm not convinced. Convince me, if you're watching this in the comments,

(28:32):
convince me that this thing is asgood as cyclonic drift. I don't
think. Maybe if it was, this thing is not as good as psychlonic
drift. Change my mind. Maybeif it was less manna, if it
was less man I could see it. If it was a one man,
I can see it, because thenit's legitimately a one man of Bounce this
to your hand. Okay, wegotta talk about the flares. The last

(28:56):
cycle we're gonna cover. There's onlya few cars after it, but we're
gonna cover these as a whole. We're not going to go through each and
everyone because I want to talk abouttheir implications. So we've got flare of
denial, flair of fortitude, flareof malice, and flare of duplication.

(29:18):
See, what they're trying to dois free spells. Everybody likes free spells,
right, since we got since wegot the force of force of stuff,
they've been trying to make something similar. So like the force of will,

(29:41):
the force of negation, those kindsof things, you can do something
to cast this for free. Andthey're doing that again. Okay, they're
doing that again, and I'm like, I'm just not can. I don't
like that they keep doing it becauseall it does is either make us go,
but force of will is so muchbetter. That's way too expensive.

(30:07):
I'm looking at the uh flares offortitude. Flare of fortitude. Yeah,
the white one yea for mana, who's gonna keep for Mana for somebody else's
turn, just in case they they'renot, they're not, they're What they're

(30:29):
thinking of is that first ability, you may sacrifice a non token white creature
rather than paying the spells mano cost. So instead of paying four, you
can sack a non token white creaturethat's not as good as excel something from
your hand that's not as good asdiscarded cards. These things are not as
good as what we already have.In modern we have force of negation,

(30:52):
we have force of will, Wehave the stuff, And I'm like,
you guys, keep doing this, and you just keep creating worse versions of
what we already have. We don'tneed the flares. The flares are not
necessary. They're not gonna be asexpensive of as you want them to be.
They're not gonna be as good asyou want them to be. You

(31:12):
know, flare of denial sack anon blue creature rather than pay the spells
mane cost. Well, it's thatmeans you have to have disposable creatures to
cast, specifically non token disposable creatures, right, and I use my creatures
quite a bit. Yeah, likecreature, And you don't want your creatures
dying in modern you don't. Youdon't want to have in Commander, I
could see these sing play just becausecreatures are pretty much expendable. But at

(31:37):
the same time, that's still ahigh cost of sack a non token creature,
except for the black one. Ifyou're playing black, you can just
get away with this. Your stuffis designed to be sacrificed. You can
get away with that, and eachopponent sacks black one is sacks of creature
or playes walk Worth greatest man ofvalue. I'm not convinced of the flares
either. I do not like whatthey represent because that means they're gonna keep

(32:01):
doing this crap. We don't needthem. They're not necessary to the game.
They're not improving anything. I wantedto come back. I know they
keep coming back. You know, you know, go away, Ula mog,
I see you go away. Don'tdon't you don't you don't you dare

(32:28):
Okay, but I'm not convinced thatthe flares are any like. They're decent.
They're free spells. Free spells arealways going to have a place.
But the cost of sacking a nontoken creature is higher than exiling something from
your hand. Not only that, but if you wanted it just as a
sacks to sack a creature for noreason. Honestly, I mean, the

(32:54):
only reason I had ever sack Iwillingly want to sack one of my creatures
is if it was false prophet.Yeah, and that's just because I want
everything to die. The players arenot that good, although we have a
good card. There they this strictsSerenade. It's a blue spell, but

(33:15):
manna counter target, artifact, creatureor plaineswalker. It's control creates a two
two bird back to your birds,Jake, this is the counterpart to another
blue counterspell. Okay, this isthe I actually like strict Serenade because it
is the counterpart to swan Song.I'm only saying you and your birds because

(33:40):
you you like your bird decks.I do like bird decks. But so
they're they're swan Song. It's agood card. It's it's rather expensive,
rather expensive because it's not sing anyreprints. It's counter target enchantment, instant
or sorcery. This one is countertarget, artifact, creature or plains walker.
It takes the other types except forbattles. You can't counter battles with

(34:01):
this thing. Neither of them getbattles. Come on, where's my counterspell
for battles? Exile everything? Iknow, right, But it's a counter
spell for everything, isn't it?But this thing being like we're finally getting
the counterpart, I actually agree withthem completing things that needed a counterpart.

(34:22):
Swansong needed a counterpart, and keepingthat bird theme of Strict Serenade. It's
you got swan Song and you gotstrict Serenade Serenade. These two counterspells go
well with each other. I agreewith this. This is a good card.
I like this card because they're nottrying to just print something that's not

(34:43):
necessary. The flares are not necessarybecause the forces are better. The packs
are the packs. They Honestly,I would have taken additional packed cards rather
than flares. The you know youcan cast it for free, but later
you gotta spend a bunch of manneror else you lose the game. Yeah,

(35:04):
you know, you're just putting onputting it on layaway. But the
strict Serenade needed to be here becauseit has a point. It's like Swan
Song is a good counterspell. Ithas its place, but this does other
things. Okay, we've only gota We're running out of time, so
we got to go through the lastcouple of cards. We've only got two

(35:24):
more, now do Winged Wisdom comeon? Stop fighting me? Well,
yes, is always angry with us. Fly flying creatures you control have Whenever
this creature becomes the target of aspeller ability reveal the top if it's a
land card, put it onto thebattlefield. Otherwise put it into your hand.

(35:45):
This ability trigger is only twice eachturn. Now, this ability sounds
pretty innocuous. Okay, it soundsinnocuous. You know, if it's targeted
by a speller ability reveal the topof your library. If it's land,

(36:06):
put it on the field. Otherwiseput it into your hand, and it
triggers only twice each turn. Butthis specides each creature has it, which
means each creature has a separate triggerthat can trigger. So when you target
it, you go, okay,I'm gonna target that. Well, okay,

(36:28):
so this one's triggered twice. We'lljust target another creature, get another
two times, target another creature. And what happens if I decide to cast
something like I don't know, somethingthat lets me target every creature now each
of them trigger hm hm. Soif I play like an expell, that
just lets me target all those creatures. Now we got like five triggers of

(36:51):
reveal the top is it a lamp? Put it on my hand, It's
revealed, the top is the lamb? Put it on the field, and
it triggers twice each turn. Intrust fund color in trust fund colors green
and blue. This thing has allthe men in the world to cast something
to target it. Not to mentionyou have things like Ivy Gleeful spell thief.

(37:13):
That's kind of the deck where thiswill go in where you want to
be targeting your creature with your spells. And because of that, it's like,
holy crap, this thing is gonnaYou're gonna go through so many cars
in your deck. And people thoughtthe two would be a Wizards of the
Coast thought that it can only triggertwice a turn would be sufficient enough to

(37:37):
stop this thing from going absolutely berserk. No, it's gonna go berserk regardless.
It's a good card last one. This is a palate cleanser more than
anything. Kudo King among bears BearsBears see bears are a fun archetype because

(38:00):
and this thing gets the spirit ofwhat bears are. Other creatures have base
power to to and are bears inaddition to their other types. It's so
dumb. It's so dumb. Althoughyou're like, yeah, drop this thing.
You play Elie Snorn and everything dies. You play Eli Snorn Grand Sino

(38:21):
Bite, where all your opponent's creaturesget plus negative zero negative zero and everything
dies. I like this guy.He's a commander. He's a fun little
commander. Bear Force has a newcommander, and Bear Force can run white.
Now, oh, I might builda Bear deck the Bears. Yeah,
you're just gonna run a bunch ofgrizzly bears and Anuka Queen among Bears,

(38:45):
right, and then Kudo King amongBears. That's the only problem.
I think you should have had partnerwith the Queen among Bears overall. Honestly,
I've always wanted to have a petbear. We're gonna talk about that
later though. Honestly, they wenthard with Modern Horizons. They went so

(39:08):
hard with this set, but there'sno story. There's no story to it,
which is fine, and they justreally well with the story for the
last set. Oh oh yeah, the flavor text of that. That was
a really good setup. My issuewith this set is just that they really
were trying to up power level andfor a set that is so expensive.

(39:31):
We're talking two hundred and seventy dollarsfor a box, and that's the regular
box, not the collectors. Andthen of course we're not even talking about
the commander decks. The Commander decksare their own major issue. I was
looking at the collector's addition for theCommander decks, six hundred dollars for all
of them, four decks. Isaw the El Drasi deck on Facebook.

(39:55):
I think it was just a joke, but they wanted four hundred dollars for
it. Honestly, this secondary marketis gonna go insane. These cards are
gonna be such high costs, butpeople are not gonna be opening the packs
because they're so high. The buyingof them is so expensive. So like,
honestly, this is one of thosesets where I'm like, I want
to see where the price lands, because this is a set that's gonna have

(40:15):
fifty forty thirty dollars cards and theneverything else is gonna be thirty cents,
right, And so I'm like,I'm just gonna wait until things level out,
and I'm gonna get my singles, pick up an ocot. I don't
know if I'll pick up an Oscolelot. You can pick up an Oscole
lot. You buy the Osolot,it's like fifty bucks. I'm not buying

(40:37):
the oslot, but I'm like,it's so expensive if you're looking for money,
like you're going after those mythics. You're going for the Ulamague, you're
going for the Oscalot, you're goingfor for the uh fanatic of Roness.
We didn't talk about him. We'renot gonna talk about him. Actually,

(41:00):
but I'm like, this set hasa good amount of stuff, decent reprints
too. I'd say they did reallywell with this set. I just do
not like Master sets because I'm reallyupset that Masters was not rich. Oh
well, this isn't a Master's set. Sorry, sorry, I apologize.
This isn't a Master's set. Thisis a Horizon set. My apologies.

(41:22):
I'm a I'm a tick. Stepback real quick, get off, get
off the soap box, you know, step back on to the ground,
Get off my soapbox. I don'tagree with these sets, honestly, they
tried to do some great things. The issues they're only driving down the price
of cards and so if you're onthe secondary market, is just driving down

(41:45):
the cost of cards. And butI feel like it's gonna affect modern in
a major way. Commander, bythe way, Commander for for those of
people that may be watching with thewith the Commander Council, essentially our community
council, I think is what it'scalled the ones who do the ban lists.

(42:07):
Please, before this fully releases,I need a pre ban on ulla
mag In Commander. Yes, Idon't ask for pre bans. Very I
don't ask for pre bans. Idon't like pre bands. I think pre
bands are very tricky because they takea card that's not even out and say,

(42:28):
well, we don't even know whatit'll do to the format, except
we can look at Ulamag and seewhat it does to the format. It's
going to wipe out fifty cards insomebody's library. It's too difficult to deal
with it is as a commander, the thing is broken. Maybe just ban
it as a commander, but giveus a pre ban, you guys,

(42:52):
we do have precedence for pre bansin Commander. We had that companion that
was pre banned, So please preban Ulamang the Defiler before things get out
of hand, before people complain aboutpeople playing Ulamag decks. Pre ban him.

(43:12):
He's too good. You banned wholeBreacher, you can ban him.
Okay, that's it. I mean, that's everything on the set. I
like the idea of the set.I like the cycle that they put into
the planes Walkers, the new ElDrazi. They're not just reprinting the El
Drazi Titans. They're trying to putsomething new. These are new El draws.
Well they're the same names, butnewer, new versions. They're they're

(43:37):
not gonna decrease the value of theold ones. They're yeah, they're you've
got the flares. You're trying They'retrying to do something interesting. I don't
like the flares, but I canagree that they're good. I like the
fact that they did the two sidedplanes Walkers again. I have always liked
the two sided planes Walkers because Commanderplanes Walkers are fun and to have creatures,
cheap creatures as commanders that come outand then transform are really nice.

(44:01):
