It's been a couple weeks since my last podcast. Did
you ever have one of those surreal weeks? Well, two
weeks ago I did. It's kind of hard to pin down,

(01:40):
but this one was a whirlwin for those who are
new to this podcast. My full time job is I'm
an emails training specialist in Welcome County. I've been in
EMS for over forty three years now and I moved
out here to the Pacific Northwest four years ago to
be started my fifth year at Walkham County EMS, and

(02:03):
one of my responsibilities is community education out of nowhere.
Over the past two weeks, the inquiries about our community
education programs just flooded in, courses filled up, and wait
for it, some really great news. Our EMS overdose cases
have also dropped dramatically. That's really good news for us
here in Walkham County. Also, we're noticing a decrease throughout

(02:26):
the state, and I think that's part of our here
in Walkham County. Part of the reasons why is I
think all the NARCAN education is being done just not
by my office, but also our health department and other
community partners. On the travel side, the lineup was packed
with Disney, Hawaii, Italy, and Alaska all on the radar

(02:47):
for potential clients. And as if things couldn't get better,
my kids came up and visited, turning that week into
its own adventure. To top it off, To top it off,
this podcast was downloaded three times in Trinidad and Tobago.
Talk about international vibes. Wait, how is it October already?

(03:08):
If you cut yourself saying that I'm right there with you,
time is lying. And guess what. In just a few
short weeks, Walt Disney World will transform into Winter Wonderland.
The decorations will be up starting the first week of November,
and the first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party kicks off
on November eighth. Just so you know, there is some

(03:29):
damage to Walt Disney World, but it all seems to
be Minor parks were open on October eleventh. What can
you expect at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? Minnie's wonderful
Christmas Time fireworks. This is a festive explosion of colors
and joy. There's Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas Time Parade.
This parade is Haughty magic. It comes alive as your

(03:52):
favorite Disney characters marched through the park. Snap a pick
with Disney pals in their Christmas best the park, Hunt
down holiday cookies and festival and festive beverages. This is
included with your ticket. Don't miss the enchanting decorations transforming
the park into a Christmas dreamscape. Tickets are still available

(04:13):
for select nights through December twentieth, and as I said before,
if you don't want to go to the parks, explore
the resorts. They will be all decked out in Christmas garb.
You can make a whole day or whole evening adventure
by just visiting the resorts. Maybe the park's on on
your list. Maybe you want to take a Disney adventure

Magical Destinations by Steve dot com. I'm on Instagram, Facebook,
and of course you can listen to this podcast and
just don't forget There is a new podcast called Ears
to Ears with Me and Mickey and Mickey has a

(06:49):
lot of good behind the scenes stories. Our latest episode,
we talked about disney World versus Disneyland, and I recap
my Disney World trip. He recaps his recently Disneyland trip
as well. As we all know, it's been a challenging
few weeks with the storms and the beginning of the
recovery efforts. I've been in contact with a handful of

(07:10):
colleagues from western North Carolina and thankfully they're safe and
doing well. They appreciated to check in. I know that
MYMS family in central North Carolina has also been stepping
up in many many ways. So to lift the mood
a bit, here's a joke before we dive into some
more content. Why did the airplane get sent to its

(07:32):
room because it had a bad altitude? Hey, I never
said I was a comedian on this podcast. Whether you're
about to embark on your very first cruise are a
season cruiser, there's nothing like the excitement of exploring new
destinations from the comfort of a shit help you make
most of your cruise, here are some great tips for

(07:54):
adventure excursions, staying safe and ensuring you have a blast
for the first time. Cruisers, plan your excursions early. Contact
me will plan them early and it's much easier, and
it's better to plan before you cruise because the cost
if you book the excursion on the cruise ship, it'll

(08:14):
be more expensive. The best adventure excursions like snorkeling and
crystal clear waters or exploring ancient ruins, tend to sew
out quickly, take a moment, research with your travel advisor
like me, and book your favorite activities in advance so
you don't miss out on the fun. Be smart about
your safety. Adventure is fun, but safety is key. Always

(08:35):
follow your excursion guides, stick to the recommended path and
wear the right gear. Don't forget to apply sunscreen and
stay hydrated. Know your limits. Some activities are physically demanding.
Be honest with yourself when choosing excursions, whether it's a
hike up of volcanoes or ziplining through the jungle, make

(08:57):
sure you're comfortable with the level activity involved. Hey, if
you've never tried a zip line or drove a scooter
on the opposite side of a roadway, maybe a cruise
is not the best place to learn. Just enjoy the
other cruiser activities. For my season cruisers, try something new,
and if you've been on multiple cruises, there's always a

(09:19):
new way to see the world. If you've ever been
kayaking or snorkeling before why not try a cooking class
and a local village or a wine tasting tour. I've
done both of those on numerous cruises, especially the wine tasting,
and my wife loves cooking classes. Stay alert and unfamiliar places.

(09:40):
As a season traveler, you probably know your way around.
Still it's important to be mindful of your surroundings, especially
in crowded markets or bustling cities. Keep your value secure
and avoid wondering too far from the group. For example,
in the old days, when my wife and I first
started cruising, we would go or se ways, especially when

(10:00):
we went to Saint Thomas. I would go diving and
she'd go shopping. And as the world change and activity
and crime kind of increase a little bit on these islands,
I don't let her go shopping by herself, and we
always go together. So make sure you take a look
what you're doing, make sure your valuables are secure. Take
time to unwind as well. Adventure doesn't always mean going

(10:24):
full throttle schedule. In some downtime, whether that's a beach
day or a spa afternoon, or just sitting by the pool,
this gives you an opportunity to recharge and truly enjoy
the journey. I just want to offer a few more tips.
Pack smart for your excursions. Comfortable shoes, hat, sunglasses, and
a small backpack. Those will be your best friends. Be

(10:46):
punctual always always be on time to leave for the excursion.
Be mindful of time when you are as sure, because
cruise ships won't wait. If you've been watching social media,
you see a lot of videos of people running to
get back to the ship as the ship is starting
to pull away from port. Be sure to head back

(11:07):
with plenty of time to spare. We also want you
to have fun, but remember you're on ship's time, so
if you're from a different time zone, make sure that
your phones as well as your watches are set to
this ship. Again, if you're thinking about vacationing, keep me
in mind. You can contact me. You know the email,
you know my Facebook, you know my social media. Everybody,

(11:29):
have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.
