Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you rent that young? Nah? No, I own it.
That's how I feel about this weekend. Pay him paid,
that's me and his money. Joy it. While last gambling
gods fickle bunch. Oh yeah, so easily offend. How's it
going everyone, I'm Sean ready here for the Make It
(00:20):
Rainy Podcast sponsored by sports Bet Montana today on the
podcast is record on a Wednesday afternoon. We're gonna be
kind of going over some of the college Kats and
grizz last weekend, looking ahead to some of our college
picks this weekend, as well as uh some NFL news. Obviously,
we have games Thursday and Friday, very exciting, so we'll
(00:41):
kind of dive through some of those a little bit,
and then the main NFL pod will be coming out
on Friday. We're gonna do our best to get it
up on Friday. Thursday tomorrow, going in for my first
surgery of my life. I dislocated my finger and it's
not holding in place, so I gotta throw some pins
in it. And yeah, made it thirty five years without
(01:05):
having to do that and heard it playing noon ball
and gonna be out six to eight weeks, so that'll
be fun. It's gonna be hard to kind of shoot
highlights with the camera. That's the finger that we use
to zoom in and out, so that'll be a little
bit interesting, but we will make do. And Hey, the
good news is it's not gonna affect any of our gambling.
(01:25):
And hey, partnered with sports bet Montana again and we
have the rain makers back. There's two of them up
right now. We have a rain Maker futures bet, so
you could place that up until kickoff tomorrow. That is
the Lions, Eagles, and Texans all to win the division.
That has boosted up to plus nine hundred. And then
I went with a little same game parlay with the
(01:46):
Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens game. I will dive
into that later, but first let's talk a little Cats
in Greats, shall we. First, Montana State obviously played two games,
while Montana has just played one, and through two games
so far, the Cats won one in one against the
spread and one in one to the over. Under obviously
did not cover. In their game against New Mexico, they
(02:08):
were favored by thirteen and a half, barely squeaked that
one out. That one did hit the over, although it
was very much trending to the under. And then they
won thirty one to seven on the road at Utah Tech.
That's by twenty three points. The line twenty two and
a half, so cleared the spread by half a point
in that matchup, and that one went way under. So
(02:30):
so far, the Cat's kind of looking like an under
team early on my first impressions. I didn't get to
watch the game at Utah Tech because obviously I was
covering the Griz game, but I was there in New Mexico. Offensively,
I just don't think that they're as dominant as they've
been in the past. Offensive line obviously he's not as
good as it was the last couple of years, and
(02:50):
Tommy Watt still seems a little bit uncomfortable in the
pocket throwing the football. So I'm kind of thinking that
the Cats might be an under team as we move forward.
Their matchup now is the gold Rush Game UH six
o'clock taking on the main Black Bears over under twenty
eight and a half and UH or the spread twenty
(03:11):
eight and a half over under fifty six and a half.
And I don't know, it's hard with these if you're
once you get up into the four touchdown range. It's
just really hard to gauge that. I think Montana State
at home, I mean, they're just so dominant at home
and they do the thing about them is when they're
(03:33):
bullying teams is like they usually can cover the spread
because they when you're up, you run the ball, and
that's what they do better anyways. So sometimes when you're
trying to round the clock, you end up just are
good at running your offense and you just kind of
run things up a little bit. So I just I'm
not even gonna give out a lean here at twenty
eight and a half, Maine doing the cross country trip
(03:53):
probably gonna get blown out. Who who knows what the
score would be, but I would probably take the un
and the Cats to cover if I had to guess,
I could see them winning a little bit similar to
last week in like the uh, you know, thirty eight
to ten range something like that. So I don't know, two,
(04:15):
it's just twenty eight and a half is just a
gross number. So I just gonna wait until we get
into conference season or until they're playing a little bit
better opponents, and then we could go from there. Meanwhile,
Montana oh and one against the spread, one in oh To.
They're under in the twenty nine to twenty four game
against Missouri State. They are going on the road to
take on North Dakota. North Dakota four and a half
(04:36):
point underdogs over under fifty two and a half. I
like two bets in this one. This is how I'm
gonna attack it, though. I think North Dakota getting four
and a half points at home is where I would lean,
But since they're already getting four and a half and
I think that number is a little high, I'm just
gonna push it up to ten and a half and
(04:57):
I'm gonna pair it with a couple NFL stuff. I'm
gonna to move the Packers up to eight and a half.
And then there's also some other things on Sunday too.
There's some other you know, teaser type teams that I'm
just gonna pair it with. What I'm probably gonna do
is just take instead of putting one full unit on
North Dakota plus ten and a half and Green Bay
(05:17):
at eight and a half, I'm gonna break it up
into quarter units and play North Dakota plus ten and
a half with Packers ten and a half. I'll probably
move like the Giants up to seven and a half
at home, the Colts up to eight and a half
at home against the Texans, and like the Titans at
plus ten and a half on the road against the Bears. Like,
just find like three other NFL teams to pair it with.
(05:38):
We'll go over that on the NFL Pod. I'll just
throw all of my teaser leg teams that I like,
and you can kind of round robin pair those. Now
what I'm talking about, Like, what does that mean? On
sports bet Montana, you can go into the spread and
go into the alternate spread, select Green Bay plus eight
and a half at like minus two eighty or whatever,
(06:00):
and then just do that same thing. Let's say you
like the Bengals to cover by a field goal, so
then you go to Bengals minus two and a half
against the Patriots. Click on that minus two and a half.
It's probably like minus two ninety. You pair those together
for a little parlay. I'm just gonna call it a
teaser because that's you're buying the six points, and that's
(06:22):
what it's called in a traditional book. But you're just
pairing those two alternate spreads together to get an even
money bet. And so that's kind of like how I
like doing it. That's what I suggested on the pod
doing with North Dakota State, And we started out on
the pod two and oh with those bets, so it
was a very you know, good start two and oh
(06:43):
on the podcast. When it comes to NFL, we'll be
giving out every I'm gonna give out every single game.
I'm just gonna make a pick, We're gonna track it,
we're gonna see how we do, and I'll give out
a you know, a lean or how I'm feeling with
Cats and Griz as we go along, as well as
far as Montana. A lot of people are asking what
they thought of how they played, and I just don't
(07:03):
think it's time to panic yet. I do think that
this game is gonna be pretty tough on the road,
and obviously Montana they need to win because you want
to keep winning, because you want to have home field
advantage in the playoffs. That's just such a huge thing
if we're talking about getting back to the National Championship.
But I just think Montana's gonna be a little They're
not gonna be playing as well in the next few
weeks as they're going to down the road breaking into quarterbacks.
I thought both look pretty good at times, both, but
(07:27):
neither is just super dynamic. Right. It's not like, yeah,
this guy is an absolute playmaker. They're not like a
Dalton'sneed or a Jordan Johnson or a guy who, in
my opinion is can be so dynamic that they go
outside of the offense and are making crazy plays. And
I think that's what Montana's really gonna be missing, because man,
(07:47):
I don't know. When I watched North Dakota State and
when I watched South Coast State, I just still think
that there's a gap between the Montana schools and the
Dakota schools. And to me, it's just quarterback play. I
think Tommy Mollott is obviously very dynamic with his legs,
but so is Cam Miller, and Miller is more accurate
and a better passer, and obviously Mark Gronowski's really really good.
(08:08):
So I just think that there's still a gap between
the Dakotas and the Montanas. But we'll see how, you know,
each team improves throughout the year. Montana State obviously banged
up not having a couple of guys, and the Gris
were obviously banged up with not having Junior Bergen, Cole Grossman,
Riley Wilson. All of those guys are out at practice.
(08:31):
I think Junior will probably see some snaps this week.
I'm not sure the whole Cole Grossman, Riley Wilson thing.
Riley Wilson wasn't even on the sidelines, so that was
kind of interesting. I've heard a few different rumors. I'm
not going to throw out rumors or a lot of times,
I'll hear some of this information off the record, so
I can't really share it in a public form like this.
(08:52):
So it's kind of tough. But hopefully we get those
guys back from Montana and they can kind of get
up to full speed. But I think that this is
going to be a tough test for the Griz, and
I would lean towards North Dakota. They've won twenty five
out of their last twenty eight home games. They're just
really tough at home Montana. I've been on that trip
(09:12):
to Grand Forks three times and Montana's only won one
of those games, including one of them was where North
Dakota threw for like six hundred and sixty yards and
it was a blood bath. So that's gonna be a really,
really tough place to play. Okay, let's dive into Thursday
and Friday night football. Give me the Chiefs minus two
and a half taking on the Ravens. I just think
(09:33):
their offense can be much more improved, getting Xavier Worthy
having speed, Rashie Rice not being suspended, and I think
Baltimore with only two returning offensive linemen, it's gonna be
something that they're gonna have to work in. So give
me Kansas City and the player promps that I kind
(09:53):
of like in the rain Maker. I have Chiefs minus
one and a half. Xavier Worthy longest reception over twenty
and a half yards Listen. I think this guy's obviously
super fast. They're gonna find ways to get him the
ball down the field. I think he gets one shot
that's over that, so I like that. I also like
his receiving yard prop. It's like at forty two. I
(10:15):
think you could latter it just because this early week.
This is what I like to do. In this early week.
The books don't know the usage of players, they don't
know the roles of certain guys, especially rookies or guys
on new teams, and so I think you can really
go in and identify certain guys who are gonna have
roles that aren't maybe expected, and their lines are gonna
be just so low that I think you can latter
(10:38):
it in the beginning here, So I think it's worth
taking a shot unworthy. What if he gets just like
two bombs, Like there's a chance at him getting one
hundred yards and that's at like eleven to one odds,
So like it's a spot that I like. I also
like Isaiah Likely over fourteen and a half receiving yards.
I think they're gonna use a lot of two tenon
sets with not having the best wide receivers, and he
(10:59):
got to play a lot when Mark Andrews is hurt.
I think they're gonna have to do a lot of
two tight end sets in this game. So I like
Isaiah Likely. And then the other one is Pacheco receiving
yards as well. He's at fourteen and a half. Clyde
Edwards Hilaire is out. They signed some maajp Ryan, but
he just got to practice this week. So I think
Pachecko's gonna get a lot of the snaps and on
third down and that's could he could get that in
(11:20):
one two catches? So I really like his over receiving
prop as well, and so those are kind of the
the prompts that we're going with. I do think Jay
Flowers getting over fifty yards is also a good one too.
I just think that he's kind of the go to guy,
and I think Mahomes is gonna be able to score
enough points where they're gonna have to throw it a
little bit to keep up, and so those are kind
of the plays that I like for that one. As
(11:43):
far as the Green Bay and Eagles game go, I
kind of like I've moved up the Packers eight and
a half, like I said, paired it with North kost
State in a few other games. I kind of like
Packers money line might sprinkle a little bit on that.
I really like Jordan Love's passing yards over Philly's rush
defense is a lot better than their pass defense. And
I don't really like targeting receiver props with the Packers
(12:05):
because they just have so many. So just give me
the Jordan Love passing prop over and on the Eagle side,
I don't know. I'm kind of just gonna sit back
and wait and see what happens. There's a lot of
question marks with Green Bay defense, but I'm gonna take
the over forty eight and a half. I just think
that there's gonna be a lot of points scored in
this one. I think. I think Jalen Hurts is healthier
(12:28):
and gonna be able to throw the ball around. Not
sure how they're gonna use Johan Dotson as a third
receiver and who exactly is gonna get the football, but
I think that they're gonna be able to run the
ball pretty well with Saquon Barkley as well against the
Green Bay defense that really struggled last year, but I
think that they could be much more improved this year.
But as far as prop goes, haven't dove into that
(12:50):
game as much. But I will release the rain maker
for that game as well, just because it's a standalone
Friday game and we're gonna want to have some fun.
So I'll release that tomorrow. So always be sure to
follow me at Sean Rainey on Twitter, and I will
put out any additional plays that I don't do on
the podcast. Once we get into football season, we're a
little busy, so we're kind of day by day by day,
(13:12):
So I'll dive into that game tomorrow. But gave you
out all the props and angles that I like for
Kansas City and Baltimore, good Luck. Hopefully you could bet
on the rain Maker win some money. Last year we
won twenty seven thousand dollars for the people. We were
plus twenty seven thousand, so hopefully we'll try and beat
that this year. Good Luck. I will then be on
(13:33):
the road to North Dakota. Should be a fun matchup
between two ranked teams, and let's win some money and
get ready for the NFL podcast coming out on Friday.
