(00:01):
Sir, I'm detecting a subspace message. I'll put it on speakers subspace there
to wonder. Hello. My name'sRaiser Hines, also known as Jamie mcrimon.
You'll listen to Mark Who forty two? Okay, foolish mortals who MARKO

(00:50):
for? Do you two? I'myour voice? Your headphones are to listen
to our show. There's no tuningback now. Hey, everybody, don't
worry. It's just me at Weatherand Friar. We're here in Mark for
forty two, and I'm joined bymy social guests. Yep, it's just

(01:15):
us today, just me and Zion, Mark and VICKI are doing some other
things, probably getting tons of Halloweencandy for trigger creators. But meanwhile,
Zion and I we're gonna talk. We're gonna have a really appropriate discussion.
Zion, of course, you reallywant to come back to the title for

(01:36):
this episode, What is it hidingbehind the sofa? There we go.
For those of you who are notaware, there's a certain long running sci
fi show of which Zion and Iare huge fans, and well, well

(01:57):
it's supposed to be a family show. There are a lot of moments in
it that one would require you tow behind the couch because there's some scary
stuff. So yeah, doctor who. I've always wondered about that, Like
I, at least for me,going on, every sofa was like on

(02:21):
a wall, so you can reallyhide behind a sofa. So I kind
of wonder, like, how wasthe the layout of the common New British
household back then for this to actuallybe a thing? Yeah? Uh,
you know what that Hey you areyou're not alone. I you know,

(02:44):
I also have that surface the binbehind that like gets the wall another one.
I have it all right now.Actually is uh is not uh stuck
behind you know, there's actually it'sit is up against the wall, but
there's a little kind of space between. Ye that something that I don't know

(03:09):
if. I don't know if ahuman be can hide behind it, but
I know that my puppets do allthe time, all the time, So
you know, I think I thinkit just depends on the layout of your
house. I do know there wasa place, there was a place that
I had during my late teen youknow, during my teens and twenties,

(03:32):
there was a house that my familylived in for like a decade and was
laid out. You can hide behindthe couch. Okay, the couch that
yeah, the couch that was youknow, behind the couch was like the
entrance to the kitchen, so itwasn't up against the wall, so there
is there is a little bit, there was a little bit of space.

(03:53):
I think it's a layout issue.Yeah, every house that I've seen,
ye again, outside of maybe onehouse is on the wall. So it
just might be I'm across the pondthing. Who knows. If you watched
the British version of Coupling, thereis there is an entire monologue about you

(04:16):
know, buying a couch and alsoabout how to hide behind the couch.
Oh wow, there is like anentire monologue based on that, and it
is it is hilarious. Two andyou know that Stephen Moffatt wanted doctor who
even back then, the character withthe monologue even mentions doles oh wow,

(04:41):
so you know, so yeah, hiding behind the couch. Yeah, I
guess. I guess it's a Britishthing because I don't know. I think
I think growing up, I wasnever about the hiding behind the couch.
I think I was just hiding period. But yeah, you hide behind the
couch for scary stuff. I don'tknow that you but yeah, I've had

(05:04):
a nice lifetime of scary stuff thatwould make me hide behind the couch or
you know, putting the TV off, you know, not just not just
Doctor Who. But I will haveto say I think I think I think
I'll get it started. As faras Doctor Who. I think one of
the things, one of the nightmarefuelly things that would probably get me behind

(05:26):
the couch. Well, first ofall, it would be the pair of
the autumense Hm, that creepy ballthing. I mean, have you have
you ever seen Player of the autiensem h? Yeah, yeah, the

(05:46):
Master's for experience and we get theautense for a you know, round two.
But yeah, there's that creepy dollthing that like, you know,
comes to life and kills a coupleof characters. It's I mean, okay,
yeah we're talking you know, seventiesmotion. Just the look of the
thing and the you know, thejust the stop motion involved. I was

(06:11):
just like, wow, okay, yeah, no, I'm done. You
know, Wow, that's just that'sjust a freaky for me. Yeah,
you know, I mean, andit's just it's it shows like the power
that you know, some good stopmotion animation that even though this is like
you know, even though you knowcommon common wisdom is that, oh,
well, you know, it's justso cheesy animation if I got CGI,

(06:32):
but it's like, no, thisdidn't need CGI. It was just creepy.
It was totally creepy. I meanseriously, man, Yeah, and
I am. I don't know ifthis all did it or not, but
you had the effect in a seventiesand eighties so like whenever the amom eyes

(06:57):
would glow, but it was obviouslya little I AM overlay of another like
filter, so it just like laidupon the eyes that made it look a
lot more creepier than what it actuallywas. Yeah, what's the doctor who
behind the couch moment for you?Hmmm? If I had to say one

(07:19):
that, I well, the doctorwho doesn't really it hasn't really scared me
that much. But if I hadto say, the one thing that I
had to say would actually like scareme was the first part of the Space
Museum. Like, yeah, Ilove museums. Like whenever I go to

(07:46):
d C, I put apart wholedays to go to the Smithsonian and see
how how they changed since the lasttime I went. There, and whenever
I go to one of the naturalhistory and you see the other the other
dolls and the other humans and theother like stuffed animals, You're like,

(08:07):
Wow, you was once alive andhere you are now for all eternity.
How would you feel if you werealive and you just saw that? And
then you get But like in termsof the space Museum, you gotta take
it into the context of Ian andBarbara. You were a good citizen trying

(08:28):
to make sure that a student ofyours is not being taken an advantage of
on this old man. Somehow,in a way you ended up across space
and time and now you want toget home all all to just find out
your stuffed in a museum for alleternity, Like the way that, like

(08:50):
the way that on the the sixtiesblack and whiteness, and and and and
and the creepy soundtrack that the spacesGum had it just worked so well,
just to say, this is notsomething that you want to be a part
of. And it's such a shamethat the rest of them, the story

(09:13):
to me at least, is bad. But the first, that first clickhanger
of when they actually see themselves embalmed. It just sends chills down my spine,
Like I'm like, oh my god, I just want to get home,
and here I am in a spaceand room for the rest of time.
Oh okay, yeah, no,that's that. That is not a

(09:35):
bad choice. I can think ofa tooth for a tooth one uh,
and that will be birched off transforminginto one of the gas mask zombies in
uh in you know, the doctordances in the and uh, you know.
Then the other the other thing Iwould say is, uh, I

(09:58):
think it's night Terrors, those creakywooden doll things. Mm hmmm. I
think with both, it's just thetransformation sequences for both are just holific.
I mean, first of all,the the you know, the when we
get that, when we get thatthat doctor you know, turning into the

(10:20):
gas max zombie. Just the eyesbugging out, the you know, the
breathing mask part coming out of hismouth, and just you know, the
whole forming that is just that freakedme out. The first time I saw
it, I'm just like, holycow man, dang body, dang you.
You do not want me to sleeptonight. And then yeah, night

(10:41):
Terrors, like the the sequence sequenceswhere Amy transforms and the Dad transforms.
Just the sound the sound of themtransforming, you know that that kind of
creaky roots sound. It's just ohoh and then you know, and then

(11:03):
and actually, you know what we'lleven add I think I'll even add like
a third to that. And justthe idea, okay, the idea of
becoming a cybermen. Oh yeah,because it's like we've never okay, I've
never really seen what goes you know, what goes into that, you know,

(11:24):
we've never we've gotten hints of it, just the hint of it,
you know, uh, you knowthe stuff coming down from the ceiling.
Uh, you know, hearing thescream and all the sparks flying. Yeah,
they think they think the cherry ontop what what absolutely sells it has

(11:46):
to be from that first tea parterfrom the new series that reintroduced the Sidemen
when uh wise and alternate will PeteTyler run into the either Jackie Tyler?
That is just all a lord, you know the fact that it's just the

(12:07):
Sipemen calling themselves Jackie Tyler, andthat it just bits up blending into all
these you know, like uh,you know, cybermen. It's just it.
It adds like, it adds alevel that just goes you know,

(12:28):
it just takes it further. Itit kicks things up the notch. Yeah,
that's the thing I could say.Yeah, the overall concept of the
Sirenmen is this one that doesn't sitwell with anyone. It's like, I
don't know how to put it.I think it has something to do with

(12:50):
the overall human nature of not stayinghuman, like the the idea of being
transformed into something that's not hum Imean, I think that's it, and
it's it's even here. Yeah,I think it's even worse, and it's
even worse than because like the Sidemen, you know, they've been compared to
Borg and you know, there hasbeen somebody, you know, the board

(13:15):
definitely have some body horror going on. I mean think of the you know,
think of the montage in in StarTrek First Contact mm hmmm, where
we see like you know, membersof the crew getting you know, turned
into Borg. Yeah. That's frightening. But you know, we've had instances

(13:37):
where people can regain their humanity andfunk and still function. The Siemen it's
like everything's just stripped out. There'sno there's no turning back. You know,
you can't. You know, itcan't be like some sort of the
cutest thing where you know, ifsomebody gets turned to the sidemen they can

(13:58):
be rescued, you know, gettheir humanity back. It's like, no,
there's no you know, it's aone way trip. And I think
that that that's even scarier, right, and also the fact that they look
nothing like the race that they oncewere. Like whenever the Sirements show up

(14:18):
the the the the doctor usually hasto tell them that was someone on your
planet and then they're like wait, what they want to they want us to
be like that. Yep, yeah, it's just like oh and like personally,
I personally think assignment in certain waysare worse than the boards. It's
like the board, at least toa certain point, we're focused on the

(14:41):
whole enchilado. But if it's justassirenment, heels like okay, I'll take
you and you and you and youand you and you and keep on going
until he stopped. And and likeit is is like roaches. Once you
could get one and three and five, eventually you lose the whole house.
So yeah, like the Simon,I will ask you a question, what

(15:07):
are the the the creepiest version ofthe Simon to you, Oh man,
uh oh, that's a good one. Uh, that's a good question.
I would probably say the I wouldprobably say the I don't know, like
I think to me, oh ohoh, I think the originals, you

(15:33):
know, the ones from like theCybermen, uh who then got reintroduced,
you know that, uh that finaltwelf doctor doctor story. They're creepy.
Uh. There's a certain level ofcreepiest with the Cybus, the the Sist

(15:54):
versions, you know especially, andI think just it's like the whole the
whole fact that yeah, there's thisthis sort of loss of identity, you
know. I mean I think likelike the the the old school the old

(16:15):
school Siberman. You know, therewas there there's like a line in you
know, there was a line Ithink the master told the thoughts that yeah,
everything gets you know, whatever it'snot being used is just scarded.
And it's just that that's just horrifyingto think about. Yeah, you know,

(16:40):
I completely forgot about that episode upuntil now. Like being for me,
the overall creepiest version of Siremon isthe tomb of these Simon Siremon most
of cover of their voice and andlike I saw just sterile they sound that's
not a human, that's a robot, but it's actually a person side of

(17:00):
it or was a person, butlike yeah, and that two parts it
was called Whirling Up in Time andI think the doctor falls. Yeah,
yeah, that whole episode or thatone part where I'm on Bill is walking
through through the hall and you havethe patients that are about to become Brennan
the sirement and like there's that onethat's sitting there and see turns up the

(17:25):
knob and he's just saying pain, pain, pain, pain, and it
turns it off. Oh yeah, who miss Oh oh yeah, yes,
yes, that that is just like, oh my lord, yeah that was
yeah, you can you can tell. Yeah, there was just some oh

(17:51):
yeah that was just if But ofcourse, of course you know that the
side would probably be like, ohyou will, you will not be in
pain for it all. It's like, okay, that doesn't that doesn't like,
that doesn't make you here not feelingbetter? You know what's one that

(18:11):
that didn't have me certain saying behindthe couch but rather not sleeping at all.
The Zeno horns. I you havea true fear of that stinking thing
because one day my mom is letrious. For the most part of my life,

(18:37):
not nine point nine percent of mylife, my mom was was a
very caught old person towards the thingsthat I used to watch. She had
trouble with me watching Dragon Balls. That's how far it would be. But
there came and it's funny, andit's funny. You should you know,
it's funny, you should mention DPCbecause that'll be I do have something later
on our list that yeah, ohreally but yeah okay, yeah, oh

(19:02):
yeah, yeah yeah yeah. Sonow she she have these pockets of abnormality,
and so one day she said, let's watch a movie. And this
movie was Aliens. Now, no, I never watched I never knew about
this thing's existence up until this point. But of course I watched the movie

(19:23):
full and all gave over man gavehim over. And I remember saying thank
you, because I will never sleepever again the rest of my life.
And she laughed. But oh,my goodness, like once you taken to

(19:44):
like will we're going to erase thefact that this thing was made by hr
Geiger, a the scariest artist thatever lived. Let's take this thing into
a fact that Pitch Black ten footmonster with ass for blood kills you with
his second mouth to a headshot. How are you supposed to stop this thing

(20:07):
now? Given it doesn't exist? But in a context of like you're like,
what this eight you'reate your own mindand it might as well be under
your bed because it's there. Yeah, And well actually and actually I can
I can do you because I mean, yeah, you got the little the
weird little second mouth, right, which is bad enough. Mm hm.

(20:33):
The fact that you know, howdoes how do we get more of those
things? Oh? Because they andit's like here's the thing. It's oh
yeah, no, and it adds, it adds. Yeah, like this
just this element because you know hereit is. You're you know, you
could be sleeping in your bed,or you could just be chilling. You

(20:55):
know, you could just be liketaking a nap on the couch and then
this thing can just crawl up attachitself to your face, and then you
know you're basically doomed. You know, you've got this little you got this
little alien baby just dating in youthat's gonna just rip out of your stomach.
It's like that that to me,it's like, I'm not you know,
my fear is not the the littlesecond mouth, uh, you know,

(21:19):
obliterating your you in the face asit kills you. No, My
fear is the thing of you know, just having a face hugger attached to
your face and it can happen likeat any time. So it's like you
can't even relax exactly, you knowthat that to me, That to me

(21:41):
is the one of Okay, yeah, nope, I need the couch.
I need behind the couch with aflamethrower. And you know, I've had
multiple dreams of that thing, andI still too to this day, marvel
at exactly how terrifying the concept ofthat thing is. Oh yeah, that's

(22:06):
hr Geiger for making Giger and Ridleyscott you know, Geiger and Ridley Scotty
creating such a unique menace. Imean, this is I can't think of
anything that will be like you know, that would even freaking like yeah,
I can't even think of anything thatwould be like you know, that would
just compare. Definitely not It's it'sa scariness is only matched by his hostility.

(22:37):
Oh yeah, because that thing isnot Yeah, no, definitely it's
not. It's not like a youknow, it's not like a sorry sorry,
but didn't mean delay, you know, it didn't mean to lay something
in your chest. Sorry, sorry, man, No, it's it's just
it's taking time. Just hold stillcold still would be like a Halloween mask.

(23:00):
Yeah. Yeah, no, definitelynot not a not a definitely not
not et not et at all. It's definitely not Star Wars. What it
is definitely not Star Wars. Thatwas one thing that I remembering. Okay,

(23:25):
so it's a space movie. Okay, so it's like Star Wars.
Cool. No no no no nono no no no no no, no,
nope, nope. Definitely not StarWars. Oh man, yeah,
I don't. I could see ifit, if it did get into the
Star Wars universe, I could seea lot of Yeah, we're gonna have

(23:45):
a lot of Stormtroppers, we havea lot of dead structures, most definitely,
speaking of which, And and thenwhen a v P came out,
we to go see that, andthen now I'm like, oh my god,
now on Earth, Oh my god, now they're actually here. Why

(24:07):
Yeah, yeah, no, Ithink, well, I think as far
as a VP, there are issues, there are enough issues that that it
it did tone down the nightmare fuela little bit. And on that happy
note, we do have to goto commercial. Okay, but you know

(24:30):
we whip back. We were talkingmore nightmare fuels, so you know,
take this time to you know,go get yourself a snack, you know,
into the restroom and you know there'sany anything that you need to try
and get through the rest of thisthis episode. Yeah, go get it.
Go get it now, because we'renot done with the nightmare fuel Oh

(24:52):
no, we are not done bya long shot. Okay, don't go,
why don't go? Why more? After this stand by Houston Way,

(25:12):
are receiving signals from subspace. Youwere listening to Mark Who forty two Universe
back Foolish Bottles. We're our discussion. We're talking nightmare funerl or as.
We're talking as we as we wereso lovingly put it, stuff that makes

(25:36):
you hide behind the couch. I'ma dward On flyer here with the Zion
heroes. Yeah, we were talking. We talked some Doctor Who stuff that
made us that freaked us out.We also mentioned the Xenomorphs, which yeah,
that's freaky too. But you knowwhat, let's let's keep the bar

(25:56):
rolling as far as you know,as far as that I'm not slipping to
Disney for for a second one ofthe Okay, so something that really frightened
me as a child so badly.Actually that took me decades to rewatch the
film, and I had to doTrish actually had to watch it with me.

(26:21):
Are you familiar with the film DarkielGill and the Little People? No,
I am not. Okay, Sothis was made like in the I
think late fifties, early sixties. It's about a farmer who ends up finding
the land of the Electricons. Now, on the good news front, the

(26:45):
film does have a three bond appearanceby Sean Connery and we get to hear
him, we get to hear himsingh. So there's that bad news.
That the part that made me hidebehind the couch. So even that this

(27:07):
is you know leprecauns, you knowIrish, you know leprechauns and all that.
Yeah, yeah, it actually dealswith ban cheese. We do have
and you know, we do havea part of the plot does involve the
Banchi showing up and that thing freakedme out, like as a as a

(27:32):
kid, you know, just theway it wailed. The you know,
the special effects, I mean, yeah, you know we are talking,
you know, yeah, it's it'scheesy old effects. Just the presentation freaked
me out, like, well, you're you're looking at you brought it up

(27:59):
right now? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, no, three, I mean
just just you're looking at your you'rejust looking fixtures, right, imagine seeing
that on screen. It just ittotally freaked me out. I yeah,
I saw it like when I wasin fourth grade, and it just it
got me I And yeah, Iwas just for decades, you know,

(28:25):
I couldn't. I could not.And finally, yeah, one time when
uh, you know, while wewere still in the dating phase, Patrisha
came to visit and she was like, yeah, let's watch it, and
she watched it with me, andfinally, finally I can, like I
can watch it without being freaked out. It's still just so freaky, and

(28:48):
it's like there's a moment where youget the you get like this on rosa
shot and she's face and it's justlike ah h no, back up,
lady. And then it gets worsebecause there's one scene where it gets followed

(29:10):
up by uh by what the filmcalls the death pitch. It's, you
know, it's basically this little carriagethat comes to you know, spirit off
uh, you know, souls intothe afterlife and again you know the same
it's the same kind of special effects, except this time, you know,
this time, what do we addto it? Oh? Yeah, the

(29:33):
uh the guy who who wrought youknow, who's who's like, you know,
handling the coach. There's no headso you got a headless guy writing
this coach going all right, guesswhat time's up? Get in. It's
just uh, it's like whoa,no, no, no, why did

(29:56):
we Why did we have to kickit up notch like that? Why?
Uh? No? You I mightactually have to watch this because this,
uh, the the the bantie looksinteresting, like it looks like a Scooby

(30:18):
Doo monster brought to light. Yeahit uh that there's a there's even a
couple of I know, there's acouple of Scooby Doo. Uh Scooby Doo.
Uh ghosts. Well that did freakme out as a kid, I
think the oh geez, well,I know the one that was like the

(30:44):
one that was kind of like ayou know, stereotypical stereotypical ghost, you
know, with like the white sheetand stuff. Mm hmm. Then not
child? Is it? Not?Child? Though? You know, is
it line. Yeah, that kindof freaked me out. And then so
did the the so did the thethe one in the in the diving suit,

(31:11):
you know, like the diving forehead. Yes, that one kind of
freaked me out. I mean, but those it's like as you got older,
it's like, yeah, I mean, you know it the thirls like
iily got over it, and Iquickly got over it, and I'm fine.
One okay, it was I thinkhe had a blue suit on and

(31:37):
like he laughed like like a redface. M hmm. I don't remember
what his name was, but it'sone of the original Scooby Doo monsters.
And like he's like in like aspace suit or something like blue and like
like a red face he was laughing. Read like I read like a red
there's like a there's like a redspall faces like a space suit. There's

(32:00):
like a let's skullface in the middle. Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah,
no, I know I know theone you're talking about. Oh yeah,
that is definitely Oh my god, that is definitely. Yeah. That
that one's a oh yeah, thatthat one's a nightmare. If you want
that one definitely gets on the list. Oh yeah, no, definitely definitely,

(32:22):
I know the one you're taught theSpace Man. Yeah, and actually,
my god, are you familiar withthe show Venture Brothers. Yes,
Okay, there's an episode I wantto say it's Yeah, there's an episode.
It's season one. It's called GhostPirates of the Sargasso. But there's

(32:43):
a there's like a genuine spaceman monsterin that one. And that is just
because like the Ghost Pirates, youknow, it ends up being like a
Scooby Doo thing, you know, where it's like, yeah, it's it's
it's like, you know, it'sreal. People then go pirates. But
there's like a ghost astronaut type ofthing that shows up, and that is

(33:06):
that like if I was if Iwas a kid, that would be freaking
me out. Like I don't wantto spoil it for you, but it
is. Yeah, it's freaking lookfor it. It's freaky. But hey,
you do get you know, onthe bus side. You know,

(33:27):
Venture Brothers is kind of a comedicshow, so I mean, it's scary,
but you know, not too bad. And then plus, hey you
get you get references to David Bowie. So in this particular case, yeah,
ground fold Nature tom So so thingsa little better. Yeah, are

(33:52):
you familiar with Cursed and Cowardly DonRidge the Cowardly Dog? Yes? Yes,
Courage back then, at least whatI consider the golden age of Cartoon
Network that there were shows under therewere funny and there were some bits that

(34:15):
were scary. That show was funnyand scary, but like it was on
like a different level of scary,Like I don't know how to put it,
Like it's like you have goosebumps fromfrom the nineties that actually trying to
scare you, and we're we weshould actually talk about that later too.
But Courage it was just weird scary. But like, out of everything in

(34:39):
that show, there were two thingsthat actually scared you. There was this
one episode with this giant head withblack out eyes and he I never got
to actually watch the episode fully.I still don't know what it was,
but it and it was something aboutit like a farming spirit or something.

(35:02):
But it was in the first seasonand they had it in the intro and
so whenever that episode would come on, I'd immediately switch the channel to Nickelodeon
wat SpongeBob. I'm enjoying this day. But each way, it was just
a giant head with blacked out eyes. I wish I knew his name so

(35:25):
so that you can look it up. But I'm almost saying that if you
go on Google and you search upfloating Head Courage, you'll see it.
And that thing, I'm almost certainis the scariest thing I've ever encountered in
my childhood. And I never watchedit still to this day, and I

(35:45):
mean watching it such invention to figureit out, but oh my god,
that thing was the most scariest thingI have seen in my life. Back
then, I that thing was paralyzing. But then they another episode one I
actually watched. Whoa, Okay, whoa, I just stick it up.

(36:08):
What the what the fuck? Whatexactly why is that? Jesus? Oh
good god, this is like,oh man, I'm thinking, oh geez,
this is like this is like thefreaking grip Reaper from like the Seventh
Seal or something like. What whatin the world? Man? This is

(36:29):
the kids show? Exactly what.I don't get Why is that thing on
a kids show? I don't getit? What the what? Man?
Yeah, yeah, I've never watchedit. That thing. I said,
I will never watch that episode asa kid. I made short. I

(36:50):
will never watch it because I'll neversleep. Oh wow, what the what
the what? Yeah? No,lord, that is one more scary thing
that I've seen on Shudent programming.Geez Louise. Oh actually, okay,
wait, oh I got an Igot another good one for you. Yeah,

(37:14):
I got another good one for you, man. And this one actually
comes from an episode of G IJoe. Oh okay, uh, there's
one. There's an episode of GI Joe from the first season called the
vent Brigade, and you know,Cobra Commander basically hires a Gypsy woman to

(37:36):
create a ghost army for him.Okay, she uses these three objects,
and there are three spirits that getbound to you know, to Cobra Commander's
service from the you know, fromthe earthly objects. The ghosts themselves are
not that bad. There is kindof a freaky part where one of the
ghosts is a Roman centurion in hishand, like the ghostly hand comes out

(38:00):
of the ground. But that's liketwo seconds and that's not that scary,
right, But you know what reallytakes the cake is that at the end
of the episode, so the ghostare convinced to help the Joe's and you

(38:21):
know, they helped the Joe's Storm, you know, Copra Commander's headquarters.
The commander is running for his lifebecause you know, the ghosts are now
like, hey, give us backour stuff, you know, and COPA
Commander's basically like, you know, turning his pants yellow. But where the
nightmare Field part comes in is atone point he's in a corridor. There's

(38:43):
a skeleton just like on the floor. The skeleton comes to life, demanding
the co commander bring the objects back, and he even, well, well
it's not out and outstated. Heimplies that, yeah, a quick commander
stoping gonna be damned. Uh,you know once he dies, like he

(39:06):
goes one day to meet your fateand we'll be there waiting for you,
and it's just throw. The commanderfreaks out and like throws the objects on
the ground and like runs off.Uh. You know. Two of the
jokes see what happened, and they'relike, what what the hell? What
the heck did we just watch? And I'm just like, yeah, no,
I feel the same way. It'slike dang dang man, holy holy

(39:34):
cow folloween from ji dah oh good, great, that's funny that I am
looking at it now. That's interesting. Yeah, I yah, yeah,
no, you have to, likesee if you can find it on YouTube,

(39:54):
just you know, type in gI Joe Phantom Brigade and watch it.
It was just it was freaky. It was just like it has you
know that that that part itself isfreaky. You know. I think what
probably redeems it is at the endof the episode, the Joe's barry,
you know, the objects, sothat the ghost can you know, move

(40:15):
on to the next light and wesee that, you know, one of
the ghosts was a World War Onefighter pilot, and you know, one
of the Joe's looks up in thesky and can see the fighter pilot's plane
and it looks like the pilot hasreunited with his lost love. So it's

(40:36):
like, okay, happy ending, all right, happy ending. That's good
for a little better after, youknow, Skeleton Man is like, you
know, the objects, but Ithink I think the next I think the
next thing. Have you ever watchedanything from Don Blue, Don Blue,

(40:58):
Don Blue? Okay? He did, he did the movie An American Tale,
He did Secret of nim Uh.You know, he did a bunch
of movies like in the eighties andnineties. You know, essentially, if
you wanted, you know, eightiesand nineties, if you wanted animation that
could rival the mouse House, thenyou went with Don Bluth. Like he

(41:21):
could actually rival you know, hecould actually rival the mouse House as far
as like, you know, animationsconcerned. But man, man was he
was he like Nightmare Fuel The Secretof Nim. There is a sequence where
the main character goes to find somethingcalled the Great Owl, and that is

(41:47):
just oh man. The owl islike this huge thing. You know,
he's got these glowing eyes. There'sat one point where he turns his neck
and it's just you hear like freaking, you know, and you have like
pop webs just flying off. Theother thing is the other thing is Yeah,

(42:10):
there's like a see a sequence wherethe main character again goes to find
the work called the Rats of Nimand she runs into a guard at the
gate. It's just that that's justrightening too. But you know, if
we want, you know, forme, I think the the Cherry on
Top. As far as Don Blue, Nightmare Fuel, it would have to

(42:36):
be. It would just it wouldhave to be. All dogs go to
Heaven. I've heard of that alldogs go to Heaven. Doggy Satan Doggy
Satan. Doggy Satan, so basicallySatan, but in Bogsta Okay, he

(43:01):
shows up this this character shows uptwice in the film. The first time
was a nightmare that the main characterhas about going to hell. You know.
Not only is you know, themain characters on like a little boat
in like a river of like lavaand fire, and then Doggy Satan shows

(43:22):
up towering over him. And thenat one point he breathes fire and turns
into little Satan puppies, and thepuppies start like fighting and like you know,
tearing at the main character, andit's just like ah, oh geez.
It's like I remember I saw thatwith my big brother and my little
sister, and my little sister gottraumatized, like she was crying, and

(43:45):
I can't say I blame her.I can't say I blame her. Man.
That was just uh oh lordy,I mean that is just I don't
even uh, I can't even, man, It was just it was freakish.
And there was like another another thingwhere like again, you know,
the main character has a vision ofDoggy Satan and he just kind of shows
up, you know, shows uplike towering over the city or town where

(44:08):
this takes place and it was justlike the sky's turned red. It's just
oh man, oh geez, ohman, I never heard I've never seen
this film, but yeah I've alwaysheard about it. Oh yeah, no,
yeah, yeah, there's a there'sa yeah, no you you definitely

(44:31):
you got to check out done LUTH'scatalog. Man. I mean it's gorgeous
animation. Gorgeous animation. But youknow this, this guy you know this
uh yeah, no he he hebrings it as far as nightmare fuel,
like he he definitely brings it,no no doubt about it. You know
what. I just as far asnightmare fuel is concerned, I just realized,

(44:57):
you know what, probably didvention youknow something, that it'd be an
excursive nightmare fuel, and that isuh, you first are familiar with the
various iterations of the Twilight Zone, right oh yes, yeah see that that

(45:19):
there you go, you know, talk about talk about nightmare fuel. I
mean there there you go, likewhat like okay for you for you like,
yeah, there was one episode. It was the episode where the no
no, no no. It wasthe chick that was driving and she kept
seeing the guys going my way andit was the hitchhiker, and she kept

(45:45):
driving and she kept seeing the sameguy, keep saying the same guy,
and then she just assented that shedied at the beginning of the episode,
and like he was like the grimReaper and like just just trying to have
except that that she's dead and nowit's trying to go to the afterlife.
So she eventually stops and picks himup, and then the episode ends and

(46:09):
I'm like, oh my god, she's been dead the entire time, like
like it's just ever a nightmare scenario. It is that. Oh and this
one of the older episodes I believe. Yeah, yeah, it's one of
the ones from the fifties. Okay, so all I gotta all I gotta

(46:34):
say is a sixth sense eat yourheart out. I still need to watch
that. Yeah, well THEO youknow, I'm gonna take a wild guess
and say you're familiar with the twist? Yeah, okay, all right,
yeah that's good. When it comesto movies, I if I know something

(46:58):
I tell you, don't watch it. And the whole thing has been on
a payoff, like fight code Iknow in the Fight Club. So I
don't think a fight club is gonnahit the same way if I didn't know
what Fight Club was. You knowwhat, I can't say that I can
safely say though having yeah I did. I didn't know about that twist,

(47:21):
but fortunately it landed. It didland, you know, very It didn't
land very well though, because youknow, there are certain twists that I
knew about going in, and Iwas just like, Okay, I still
enjoyed it because even though I knewthe twist was coming. M hmm,

(47:42):
I you know, I was stillable to enjoy it because I had because
I knew, you know, youknow, because it gave me you know,
you can watch it and then see, like we've had hints about the

(48:02):
twists that you don't notice the firsttime around. Yeah, you know,
so you're finding the different treasure andyou're like, oh, but of surprised.
I don't was was the Twilight jonethat had the talking doll episode?
I think, so, yes,you know, I'm talking. I love

(48:25):
yeah that crypt No thank you,no, thank you, no, no,
not gonna do the crypto thing. No no, no, no,
no, you know, I'm good. Since we're on this and and we
have a lot of time, Ifeel like this is a perfect combination of

(48:47):
all things. I'm gonna talk aboutthe Tower Terror ride. Yeah, I
love the Tower Terror. That wasmy introduction into the Twilight Zone. I
did not know everything about the TwilightYeah, I knew nothing about the Twilide
Zone. And then on one dayI went to all the studios with my

(49:12):
mom and that's the first time Iever went. I won, and I
went on as a holy crap,I need to watch this, and I
said, things going up and nowI want I need to watch this.
This is actually something down my avenue. And I went on on my three
or four times. I'm like, wow, this thing's creepy as I need
to watch this. This is alloh jeez, okay, wow, see

(49:37):
well that's hey. I mean youknow that that's great that you know the
Disney ride actually like opened your eyesand had you going, wait, hold
on, I need to check thisout. We got some you know,
we got we got like a classicyou know, classic TV that I need
to check out. That's great.Uh oh something. I don't know if
this would be like a source ofnightmare fuel for you or not. Mm

(50:00):
hm, But have you ever heardof the Phantom Manner? No, okay,
Phantom Manner is the Disneyland Paris versionof the Haunted Mansion, and it
actually has like a story woman aroundit does. It's you know, it's

(50:21):
about like all the Phantom and thisbride whose wedding day was like lein By,
like the Phantom and an earthquake, but the Phantom. First of all,
the Phantom has the Phantom's laugh isthe iconic laugh of Surprice. Okay,

(50:42):
and then there's a point, seeit doesn't the ride doesn't end with
with the graveyard. Instead, yougo through like a literal ghost town.
But part that feels like you know, nightmare fuel for something is after you
leave, like you know, thatBride's version of the Attic scene, You're

(51:05):
out in a courtyard. There's anopen grave and the Phantom is like laughing
and pointing at it and like comeon in, you know, and it's
like I'm like whoa. And thenit's like you go into it, you
know, your ride, your buggygoes into it, and then you're you're
letting. You're like under you know, like you're underground and all these coffins
are opening up and all the youknow, all the skeletons and stuff are

(51:29):
coming out of or coming out ofit it just it's set. I saw
a video of this and it looksincredible and it also looks so freaky.
But I'm like, wow, justwow. Yeah, you have to like
if you can't get to uh Paris, I mean definitely, you know,

(51:50):
definitely, like look it up onYouTube playing a high quality video. Oh
geez, and well, Zion,I think, who are I think we've
actually reached a nightmare point. Ohno, we have reached a nightmare point.
And that's we are. We areout of time. We are out

(52:12):
of time, unfortunately, because Lordknows, there are so many beds of
nightmare fuel that we can mention. We didn't get to mention Large March in
Tewe's Big Adventure, Uh the songWorthless and Brave Little Toaster. I mean
there's just you know we could wecould fill. We could do like I

(52:37):
don't know, a series of episodesjust running through different what which one judgment
day March Day, There you go, there you go a nightmare. Yeah.
