Yes, and congratulations again on that, thank you, absolutely absolutely
all right, Well so we've got let me get these
mics on here. We've got the guys from Vali. This
is your your second time on the show, right, I believe, yes, indeed,
So let's start. Let's start here in the corner. Let's
go around the room. You can each tell us who
you are and what you do in the band.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Hi.

Speaker 6 (03:12):
I'm Cody. I play bass in the band, all.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Right, Cody.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
I'm Dane. I play guitar.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
All right, Dan.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
My name is Sean, and I do the vocals in
the silly stage anting.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yes, yes, and you Jonah, I apologize. I can barely
hear you, and that's because using that extra mic there,
all right, say that again.

Speaker 8 (03:32):
Jonah, Jonah, I played the drums.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Hi Jonah, welcome, welcome, all right, very good. So, now
you guys were on with us once before. I think
it was it was all four of you last time too,
wasn't it? Were you all four here?

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Wasn't here?

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Oh, Cody, Cody wasn't here? Okay, okay, So I remember
asking you. Now I am saying the name correctly, right,
It's it's Volley, Am I saying that right? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (03:51):
You are one of the few people that say it correctly.
Usually people say Vowley.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Yeah, that was a conversation I remember we had last time.
I think it was on the air. I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
because uh yeah, that's that's how I thought. That's what
I thought it was. I thought it was Volley or
Valley rather, but it is Volly. So is does that
ever get misspelled, like on a poster or anything for shows?
Do people screw it up? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (04:13):
We've had a few where people because our logo is
a pill and it says Valley twenty milligrams. So yeah,
we've been on a few show flyers where they think
our name is Vally twenty milligram.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah, Oh that's funny. Yeah, that's funny. I can see
how that would happen though, So tell us about because
we were talking about when you were on the show
before you had a show coming up in Japan or
a tour or the world tour.

Speaker 7 (04:37):
Yeah, but you did it.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
You guys went to Japan. I'm done to hear all
about it.

Speaker 7 (04:43):
So the flight there was treacherous. Yeah. So it was
a six hour flight from Boston to San Francisco, then
twelve hour flight from San Francisco to Tokyo, and then
a three hour flight from Tokyo to Okinawa.

Speaker 9 (05:04):
M so.

Speaker 7 (05:06):
And if I remember correctly, we didn't really have any
layovers on the way there.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Yeah, it was a lot.

Speaker 7 (05:14):
Yeah, we we actually so when we landed in Tokyo, Uh,
they told us to go to the wrong gate. Oh no, yes,
we went to the wrong gate, and you know, everything's
in Kanji. So we couldn't we couldn't figure it out,
and we actually wound up missing our initial flight to Okinawa.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Oh no.

Speaker 7 (05:33):
And Jonah was at the gate for the flight that
we were supposed to be on, but the three of
us like, we couldn't get through. It was too late
to board. So Jonah is calling us and calling us
and he was able to wrangle in this guy who
we had to use Google Translate. But yeah, he got

(05:54):
us all on a flight that was actually sooner and
quicker to Okinawa.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Oh wow.

Speaker 7 (06:00):
Yeah, so it worked out perfectly.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
He was an airline employee and he just went above
and beyond to get a situated and straightened out because
for you know, a good hour there, we thought we
it was folly lost in Tokyo, Wo Vi destination.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
We may or may not have bribed him with some
volley gear. Yeah, I'm not sure if that actually did
us any favors or maybe worked against us.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Yeah. Oh if it worked out though, that's that's great.
Yeah wow, so oh yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Oh I was just gonna say, yeah, getting there was
definitely difficult, but it was it was worth all the ache.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Yeah. Wow, that's a lot of time. I've never even
been a plane, been on a plane for that amount
of time. I can't even imagine. Yeah, yeah, it was
so rough.

Speaker 7 (06:45):
They they obviously supplied us with some beers on the flight,
so that yeah, that helped a little bit. But yeah,
I like I didn't really sleep the night before. Yeah,
and I couldn't sleep on the plane. I have a
hard enough time sleeping as it is, So I just
I stayed up the entire time, and like by the
time we finally stepped foot in Japan, like after all

(07:06):
the flights were done and everything, I just like a
big cigh of relief came. And then we took a
cab to the hotel. The front doors to the hotel
were locked, and there was a phone number to call,
but our phones weren't working because we were in Japan.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (07:23):
Yeah, So like we're just sitting there in the parking lot.
There's no cars in the parking lot. We're like, this
is on far, this is on far, And we wound
up knocking on the door and the guy came and
let us in. And the second we all made it
into the hotel room, that's when we did the big
group hug and we were like, guys, we made it.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
My favorite part about when we first got there. I'd
been telling the guys because I used to live in Japan,
oh when I was in the Marines. Oh no kidding,
Oh wow, I knew exactly what to expect from Okinawa
as far as like the heat index and humidity goes. Yeah,
so I'm telling them like, hey, just so you know
second we go, you're just gonna start swimming. Yeah, it's
just so human. They're like, oh yeah, sure, you stepped outside,

(08:04):
and Dane looks at me, He's like, this is rough,
Like already I'm already moist, dude.

Speaker 10 (08:10):
It was.

Speaker 7 (08:10):
It was extreme, Like right as we walked out of
the airport, it was like a sauna.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Really yeah no kidding, like like comparable to like Florida
or or.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Florida as a kid, and it's not comparable because it's
way crazier.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 7 (08:28):
You feel like you're swimming through the air.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Wow.

Speaker 8 (08:31):
Yeah, no kidding, Like I had to run at six am,
not to he had to this morning, run.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
Bill running every morning he die.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Yeah wow wow, that's crazy. So like at any point,
did did any of you feel like, you know, as
you're as you're just getting there, like wha, maybe this
was a mistake or or did or did you all
feel like no, this is this is worth it.

Speaker 6 (08:54):
Whatever happens is probably the best thing that we ever
did as a group.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
Like that's cool.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
I agree. Good.

Speaker 7 (09:00):
The only the only little shred of doubt was when
we were almost stranded in Tokyo, where it was like
there's no way that was pretty maybe Bear maybe for
a second Burger Bear, if you're listening. I can't say
it on the radio, but we had we had an experience.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Well I'm super curious.

Speaker 7 (09:20):
I mean to make a long story short. So after
the hotel tobacco, when we finally got to the hotel,
we were like, all right, we we need to go
eat something. We went to this restaurant called Burger Bear,
and the guys all got what they wanted. I ordered
a grill. The only thing they had, uh that I

(09:40):
could eat h was a grilled cheese but had bacon
on it. So I asked for a grilled cheese, no bacon,
and that threw the man for a loop. He did
not understand what the heck I was talking about. Yeah,
He's like, so you want grilled cheese, no cheese. I'm like, no,
like a grilled cheese, no bacon, just the cheese. And

(10:01):
he's like, so you want you want grill? I'm like no, man,
So he ended up getting nothing.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Yeah really yeah wow.

Speaker 7 (10:09):
I tried explaining it to him to the best of
my ability and he just wasn't getting it. So I
was like, you know, I'll just I'll have some jamison.
Then oh wow, and yeah, so he quick as a whip,
he gave me two shots of jamison. And they're all
sitting there, uh, eating their food. And he comes back
and I'm like, I thought I finally got through to him,
like yeah, grilled cheese, no cheese or grilled cheese no

(10:33):
yeah you It's like, yeah, just just a grilled cheese,
nothing but the cheese. And he like goes back and
it's a big open kitchen. So like we were watching,
you know, the whole process, watching him back like three
times and start looking yeah yeah or whatever. Right right yeah,
So like twenty minutes passes, and uh, I think, Jonah,

(10:53):
you were still waiting for your food too, right yeah,
So Jonah and I were both waiting for our food
and I'm watching him and like I've worked in kitchens before. Yeah,
everything he was doing, I'm like, guys, he's he's closing
the kitchen like he's no. And then he finally comes
back up and I'm like, hey, man, like I was
just curious, you know where our food is?

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Oh, and he's like oh.

Speaker 7 (11:16):
No, and right then and there, I'm like, dude, i
I'm good. Like again, I was, oh I was awake
for more than twenty four hours at that point. Yeah,
just like I'm like, dude, I'm fine. And as we're
walking out the door, uh, he runs and gives Jonah
his burger.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Oh really yeah yeah. But then he's like, I can
still make you your girl cheese.

Speaker 7 (11:36):
I'm like, dude, just.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
Yeah, don't even bother We're that yeah, like wow.

Speaker 7 (11:41):
So he gave Jonah his burger, and like while Jonah
was paying and whatnot, we went outside and this was
like maybe a three minute walk from the hotel.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (11:50):
Uh it started monsooning. Oh wow, and I burst out laughing,
like I just like a little i don't know, mental
breakdown laughter. After the chain of events, I'm like, there's
no way this is real life, right uh wow?

Speaker 4 (12:07):
And uh yeah.

Speaker 7 (12:08):
So like we walked back in. Jonah's all happy with
this burger and I'm just like so over it. So
I'm like we're taking the cab. We're going to go
to seven eleven. I'm going to find something to eat there.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (12:19):
I ate so many rice balls when we were in
Japan really yeah. Uh the first two or three days,
I probably ate like twenty or thirty of them.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (12:28):
Yeah, yes, it was bad because like there's seven eleven
Lossons and Family Mart okay, and they're like literally everywhere.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (12:37):
So when we were walking around just like checking out Japan,
every single one we'd pass, I'd be like, guys, I
need to go in there for a second.

Speaker 6 (12:44):
Yeah, I'm low on rice ball Yeah yeah.

Speaker 7 (12:47):
Yeah, so I survived off rice. Like the three of
them have never seen me eat so much.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Really.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
Yeah if he was expecting because he's eating for two.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Yeah, wow, yeah, I'm curious, Jonah, what is a burger
like in Japan?

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Is it?

Speaker 7 (13:04):
I mean?

Speaker 11 (13:05):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Is it same as here? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (13:08):
It was actually really good. It was the closest and
most open option when we were finally looking for foods.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (13:17):
It wasn't like we went there looking for burger right right.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
Yeah that was great. Yeah yeah yeah, oh that's good.
That's good. So so after that, so did you play
that night? Was the show that night that you played?

Speaker 10 (13:31):
No?

Speaker 7 (13:31):
So the show was actually the last night that we
were in Japan?

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Oh how many how many nights were you there?

Speaker 7 (13:37):
We were there from August third to August tenth?

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Oh I didn't realize that long.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Oh wow, oh my god, that wasn't long enough.

Speaker 8 (13:44):
Yeah for a vacation long for a band.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
Yeah yeah, it really was a vacation disguised as a show.

Speaker 7 (13:52):
Yeah yeah yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Oh wow. So what I mean, what else about the experience, like,
because it sounds like you had a good time, right,
I mean after we have the initial Uh.

Speaker 7 (14:03):
We had an absolute blast.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (14:04):
There were there were a few gnom kais, which is a.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
It's a business drinking party.

Speaker 6 (14:11):
Yeah okay, so haunted.

Speaker 7 (14:12):
Yeah, so we uh we had a little balcony and
like Cody and I, we wound up getting like a
bunch of drinks from seven to eleven, too many drinks,
any drinks? The high balls or what did it?

Speaker 4 (14:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (14:28):
High ball no j two. But we uh we went
out on the balcony and we were just like I mean,
you know when drunk went in Japan, we were slicking
them back and uh yeah, just watching all the bats
fly around and everything are so huge. Really yeah, it
was beautiful, beautiful.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
I don't know. That was scared of me.

Speaker 7 (14:49):
All yeah for real.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Yeah, the size of a bald eagle. Yeah really yeah,
that would terrify me flying by, and it scared me
for sure.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
I thought it was gonna me up and take me
away at one point.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Yeah, oh my god. Wow.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Well other than you know, beers burgers and bats, we
did other stuff too.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
We got haunted.

Speaker 7 (15:08):
Yeah, we got we got followed by an ony demon uh,
a possible woman of the night that we also thought
might be a demon lady, a yokai ka yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Okay, a demon lady.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (15:25):
So we were we were in this store by the
beach and she came up to me and started speaking
Japanese and I was like, I'm sorry, I don't speak Japanese. Yeah,
and I tried like breaking out Google Translate, and she
like she looked why does it go? Like something about
her appearance was so like spooky. Yeah, and she had

(15:47):
bandages all over her arms and everything, and she just
like kept following me, and like I found them in
the store. I'm like, guys, like I need an adult.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
I need an adult. And so like we leave the.

Speaker 7 (15:59):
Store and she's following us. Yeah, and there's this big
stretch along the beach and like beautiful sea walls, beautiful
sea walls.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
We uh.

Speaker 7 (16:09):
So we were walking down the strip and like we'd
bang a right and go towards the benches and then
she'd do the same thing, and I kept looking back
just because like I I'm a paranoid guy, I guess
with some degree. And I kept looking back and like, god,
she's still there, and they're like, stop looking back. I'm
like I can't, Like you feel like somebody's watching it. Yeah,
see if somebody's watching you?

Speaker 3 (16:30):
Yeah yeah and yeah.

Speaker 7 (16:32):
So like for a good ten minutes, like we'd be
walking and then we'd stop walking and she'd stop walking
and just stare at us. Really yeah, and then she
she came up to us and was asking about a
phone charger and then asking if we wanted to spend time.
We're like no, like we're good, and we kept walking

(16:56):
and walking, and like finally, like I remember looking back
and seeing her turn around and walk the other way. Okay,
I'm like, guys, sigh of relief, Like we're not we're
not being followed by the demon anymore.

Speaker 12 (17:07):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (17:09):
So we finally get to the beach and we we
all walk onto the beach and we're laughing about it.
We're like, dude, watch she's gonna show up. And then
Cody's like I believe it was. Cody's like, guys, and
we all turn around. She comes out from behind a tree.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
And is just.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
Honest to God, there's no possible way she could have
beat us to the beach because she started walking the
other way. Yeah, to have teleported, there's no wow.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
And she had like a big straw hat too and almost.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Hat like yeah you know.

Speaker 7 (17:39):
And then uh, Cody and I went off to go
grab a beer and Janan Dane were on the beach
and I guess uh.

Speaker 8 (17:48):
A couple of ladies prayed. Yes, we got we got
praised really and then we didn't see her again, so
we figured.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Yeah we got.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Yah, we had like a prayer force field by some
lady Shamans. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (17:59):
The timing it was just so weird because like right
as we walked away, Cody and I were still freaking out.
We're like, dude, like she's here.

Speaker 6 (18:06):
She's comings going to be submerged the water, just like
her eyes showing, expecting to see her in my in
my nightmares that night. Yeah, and then we come back
and they're like, dude, like people just came up to
us and asked if they could pray for us.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Wow. Yeah that's wild. Yeah, Wow, that's incredible.

Speaker 4 (18:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
So so the show that you play that it was
on the last night that you were there.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Yep, yeah, yeah, because we left the next morning after
the show.

Speaker 6 (18:33):
Okay, okay, And how did that go? It was a killer,
probably one of our best shows that we played. The
uh the sound engineer that was there, he really had
everything down to a science as far as like, you know,
how he wanted to make up every instrument and every
you know, part of the drum kit. I mean, yeah,
I don't think I've had a better experience as far

(18:53):
as like being able to hear everything that was going on.
You know, you know someone that's up there right next
to a samplifier. You know, sometimes I can't hear, yeah,
you know, the whole ensemble doing their thing. But I
mean I was like feeling it. You know, there there's
a packed show. I mean, everyone was happy to see us.
You know, big bold volley from the USA on the

(19:16):
bill outside. It's like that it felt cool.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
It was.

Speaker 7 (19:20):
It was surreal, like just you know, we came from
halfway around the world. We didn't expect you know, we
didn't expect a big turnout. We were kind of just
doing it to be like yeah we did that. Yeah,
but there there were so many people there and like
Cody was saying. The sound was immaculate. Yeah, and just
everybody in the crowd, like a fractions of them, I'm

(19:43):
sure didn't quite understand what we were saying. Sure, but
it just everything about it went spectacular. And uh I
was Facebook live streaming it. The second we started playing.
My phone fell, but Cody's friend actually picked up my
phone and held my phone for the whole show. Okay,
So then I ripped the audio from that and we

(20:05):
put a live album up on our Spotify, on Spotify, iTunes,
all the other streaming services. Oh wow, Yeah, it's a
volley laugh from Okinawa.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
That's so cool. Yeah, oh, that's very cool. That's very cool.

Speaker 6 (20:17):
Shout out to a first star and Heaton for holding
the phone for the entire show.

Speaker 7 (20:21):
Yeah, yeah, thanks you very much. I'm I'm certain you're
listening right now.

Speaker 6 (20:25):
I'm sure he is.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Wow. Did you see the demon lady in the crowd?
That would have been That would have just I.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
Had thought of that, like, if she shows up at
our show, I'm gonna lose it.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
That would have been the chair on the top of that,
wouldn't it.

Speaker 7 (20:37):
See there we were We were so paranoid for the
rest of the trip. Just like I'd go to the
bathroom and like feel a presence and I'm like, no, wait.

Speaker 6 (20:48):
I'd like woken up in the middle of the night
that night when we first saw her and I'm laying
in bed, I have to go to the bathroom, and
it's like I'm just laying their face in the walls.
Like if I turn around, she's going to be right there.
I turn in the corner, She's going to be in
the ourt corner waiting for me to my guard down.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Need a bathroom, buddy.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
The story doesn't describe it very well, but we were.
We were all pretty shook.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Yeah, really yeah, like the whole.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Way it transpired in the first.

Speaker 7 (21:13):
The first minute or two, like we it was spooky,
but we were kind of laughing about it. Yeah, and
then as time went on, we're like, no, like we're
being followed.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Wow.

Speaker 8 (21:20):
Yeah, I knew I wasn't going to see her again
because we got clear. Yeah, I was not.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Good for you guys.

Speaker 7 (21:30):
Tody and Hires still hosed on it.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
But the actually is like a Japanese urban legend regarding
like a wailing woman who follows people and stuff, just like.

Speaker 7 (21:39):
Actual like you know.

Speaker 6 (21:42):
That on her arms or something and it and it
can you know, haunt you or something actual story behind it,
but it is like eerily similar to an actual like
folk tale about you know, a demon lady. So it's
like I think we got lucky and we we escaped
with our lives. Yeah, yeah, story wow. And and that's
called a yokai or yoka kay. I think I forget

(22:07):
the exact translation, but I think yokai means demon and
oni means like a ghost. Okay, okay, I think, yeah,
don't quote me on that one. Yeah, so Cody, you
were you had been there before when you were in
the military. Yes, I lived in Okinawa for about two years.
Oh okay, So it's like last from the past. Like
I kind of knew what to expect as far as
like the weather goes, like the monsoon he mentioned earlier.

(22:27):
I'm like, don't worry, dude, it's gonna be done in
like fifteen minutes. Like smoke a button, hang out. Yeah,
So you know your way around there obviously for the
most part, I kind of knew like roughly where to go.
But we were like right smack dab in the center
of the island. Yeah, I was stationed. It was up
towards like the northern half, So it was I kind
of knew like the main area of you know, the

(22:47):
city that we were in, but yeah, the more hole
in the wall spots and like the back roads. I
was like, this is a new experience for me too,
So it was it was great that way as well.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Yeah, yeah, but it must have been good for all
of you that you know that you have experience.

Speaker 7 (23:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (23:03):
I kind of described it to them as like Japan lights. Okay,
so it's like you're there, it's kind of American eyed
because there's so many US military bases there, so it's
like it's easier than going to Tokyo, for example, where
it's like they may see American tourists but no one,
you know, is like dealing with Americans constantly, at least

(23:25):
in Okinawa, like they they kind of know what to
expect from us, and they can answer some of our questions.
They might know a little bit more English than Mainlanders might.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Yeah that makes sense.

Speaker 7 (23:35):
Yeah, it definitely had more of a laid back vibeya.
Everybody there was so polite and like accommodating and welcoming.

Speaker 8 (23:44):
It's where they go on vacation, right, So I like that.

Speaker 7 (23:46):
We were like yeah, yeah, yeah, we got by knowing
like three or four words in Japanese.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Yeahs. And then what what was the trip home like?

Speaker 4 (24:07):
Was that it was way worse.

Speaker 8 (24:09):
It was really everything went smooth way longer it went smooth.

Speaker 7 (24:14):
It was just so we flew from Okinawa to South Korea.
We had a six hour layover in South Korea.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Oh wow, great airport though, great airport.

Speaker 6 (24:27):
Yeah, terrible airport.

Speaker 7 (24:29):
Yeah, So we had the six hour layover there, then
the twelve hour flight from South Korea to San Francisco.
So we left on the tenth at like I want
to say, uh say like three pm. Just we arrived
in San Francisco at three pm on the tenth so.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
Like, oh yeah, it was it's like we hit pause.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (24:55):
It was so trippy and like I just remember when
we got to San Francis, I was like, I've never
been so happy to be in America in my life.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (25:04):
I think our plane got diverted too, so we went
to a different airport than we were supposed to in
San Francisco or something late.

Speaker 7 (25:12):
But yeah, so we were just late. But like, uh
there was so much turbulence on the flight too, and
like we were all fried, like it. It was a
long week. Oh yeah yeah, is there thirteen hours ahead?

Speaker 6 (25:25):
Yes?

Speaker 7 (25:26):
Right, yeah yeah, So like we we were already like
dealing with the time difference in the jet lag and
just a long week of you know, going out and
galvanting and being goofballs.

Speaker 6 (25:36):
Yep, And so it's not the best when it comes
to confidence in flying. Oh really yeah, I got wet anxiety.
We got seated in the back of the plane and
he's like, oh, it's gonna be shaky. I'm like lying
through my teeth to him, like, oh no, it's the
back of the plane. There's wings right there. We're gonna
be fine, right right, lies.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Lies.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
It was like we were getting shook. Oh really yeah
yeah the whole time.

Speaker 7 (25:57):
It was pretty bad at some points. And then you
and me wound up just like we were standing pretending
like we had to use the bathroom just so we
could stand up.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
That was the trick. Yeah, you get like three or
four minutes out of them.

Speaker 7 (26:10):
Yeah yeah, And we uh, we would just like anytime
someone would walk up to use the bathroom, we just
play mister polite and we're like, no, you go.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
First, okay, yeah, yeah, that's funny.

Speaker 6 (26:20):
I can't stand to be in this seat to position anymore.
Please go ahead of me.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
Well I'm definitely a little bit of a bigger guy.
But they do not make airplane seats very large.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
No, sure, no they don't. That's true.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
I have to buy two next time.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Body, So then so then you flew from what you
flew from San Francisco.

Speaker 7 (26:38):
To here, San Brenda, Bostin to Boston.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Gotcha?

Speaker 7 (26:42):
And then again I was like, I've never been so
happy to be in Massachusetts in my entire life.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (26:47):
My fiance picked us up and she had whole milk
for Jonah and yeah, peanut butter and jelly sand Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Yeah, Mama Moore made a bunch of snacks for us,
which was cool. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (26:58):
From shout out to Coat his mom, Oh that's cool,
thanks mom. I know you're not listening to so yeah outstanding.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Wow. Wow. So you guys gonna go back some day,
do you think?

Speaker 4 (27:08):
Or I'd love to go back at some point every day?

Speaker 3 (27:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (27:11):
Yeah, yeah, we we talked about it a lot. It's uh,
you know, it's expensive. The flight is very taxing on
the body.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Like it.

Speaker 7 (27:22):
Like Dane said, it's not for the faint of heart.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
No, but it definitely isn't.

Speaker 7 (27:25):
I I would love to go back. I would just
love to one stay there a little bit longer than
a week, to maybe fly to San Francisco and then
spend a couple of days in San Francisco for like
a day or two, and then fly to Tokyo and
then fly to Okinawa.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
That means we have to book a show in San
Fran then yeah, yeah, if.

Speaker 6 (27:46):
You're from San Fran and you want to book us,
let us know.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Yeah, there you go. I want to go.

Speaker 8 (27:50):
I want to go back to South Korea.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
Yeah too.

Speaker 9 (27:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (27:54):
Really, so we had these big, grandiose plans of uh,
we were going to leave the airport, go to the
d m Z, take a band picture at the DMZ.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
That would be cool. Yeah, it would have been cool.

Speaker 7 (28:04):
But like we just we didn't really plan the logistics
of it, of like having to leave the airport, then
go back through customs, having to convert currency, like make
sure we get there safely. Yeah, it's so on and
so forth. So like it was a starry eyed idea,
but when we got to the airport, we're like, yeah, guys,
we can't we cannot do this.

Speaker 6 (28:23):
Yeah, we found like the nearest uh somewhat comfortable looking
couch and just kind of crashed the.

Speaker 3 (28:29):
Yeah, and they had they had those spinny chairs.

Speaker 6 (28:34):
Like the Weebl's walls fall down chair.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Yeah, okay, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (28:41):
Dane was trying to convince Cody to go in and easily. Dude,
it's easy. You just gotta lean with it. And he
like the way he swung his voice made it so
much funnier. But the second he went like his head
was at the back of the chair.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Yeah, oh he felt.

Speaker 6 (29:00):
Bring these guys anywhere it.

Speaker 7 (29:01):
It flung him right out of the chair and like
I was laughing so hard, I was crying. Yeah, like,
oh my god, I felt so bad for him, just
because like nobody wants to fall in public, of course, yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Korean people who are trying to like chill out and
you know this over here it was.

Speaker 7 (29:20):
It was meant for kids, like right right, So there
was a family with their kiddo and like they were
just having this cute little moment and here we are
for goofballs.

Speaker 3 (29:28):
Just so when that when that happens, are they kind
of looking at you like Americans a little bit?

Speaker 6 (29:35):
I think I feel like they were looking at us
like that, like in Japan, were in like Asia in general,
like they're just getting looked at that way because they Dane.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (29:48):
I so like when we were on the beach, there
was a little kid who walked up to Dane and
he just like looks up at him with a huge
smile and eyes.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
He's like wow, yeah, that's awesome.

Speaker 8 (30:01):
Yeah, and Dane made his amateur sumo debut.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
Yeah that's correct.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
Oh I got to hear about this.

Speaker 4 (30:09):
Yeah, well, yeah, we ended up one night we went
to uh like a street like a main street with
a bunch of shops and stuff called CCOO Side Dory
and we got dropped off in the taxi and I
don't know, I think we're walking for a couple of
minutes and we stumble upon this street performer sumo guy
and immediately everyone's.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
Like doing good in there. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
The second that we saw the he had a sign
saying like sumo wrestle me basically, and we all looked
at Dane and he just got a big smile us
and he's like I know what I.

Speaker 9 (30:42):
Have to do.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
Oh wow, Yeah I got spanked. Yeah, yeah, he.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
Got bodied it. It was maybe he pulled like a
move and uh, you.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
Know, we clashed. We clashed, which was good. Yeah, yeah,
and then I kind of went at him and he
kind of dodged out of the way and my nose
went right into his like shoulder bone.

Speaker 6 (31:01):
Yeah yeah, you got Oh wow, I grab the diaper
and flip him.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
But he just was.

Speaker 8 (31:08):
Yeah, you either start one and oh and oh and
one though.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Yeah, yeah, you're still on the board.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
You're still wrestling in Japan, like that's that's a an
accomplishment right there.

Speaker 9 (31:20):
It is. It is.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Yeah, you gotta throw a dart to hit a bulls
you know, that's right, that's right, that's right. Oh wow,
that's cool. That's wild. Well, do you guys want to
play another you want to play another track? We got
a couple others we gotta I'll let you pick. We
got a parabolic and don't remain which would which should
we play next? And then we'll save the other one
for the.

Speaker 7 (31:39):
End of the That's that's up to Jonah.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
Parabolic. Anything we should know about this before we play it?

Speaker 7 (31:46):
It slaps, Yeah, all right, it's a it's a good song,
and you know it's a good song because we wrote it.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
There you go, there, you go all right here it is,
this is parabolic. The band is volley something inside.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
He's killing my soul without the sun.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
Isn't a problem like my.

Speaker 1 (32:05):

Speaker 3 (32:43):

Speaker 4 (32:44):

Speaker 3 (32:57):
Anyway, I played the wrong song. Still good, It's still good.
But now we're gonna play parabolic. Here it is. You're

(33:31):
gonna win Numbo s head and made.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
A love the Yoshi. You're gonna break that.

Speaker 10 (33:35):
I do.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
I thump the crown, I chills, I ain't.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
Up a shad, I've a superstition.

Speaker 13 (33:41):

you're like probably grown con me r to that love

Speaker 2 (34:40):
And said it.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
There we go. That is parabolic. The band is Volley
and we've got the guys from Volly here with us
live in studio. Hello, Hello, Hello, so dad, what have
you guys been? Uh so, what have you been doing
since your your return from Japan? Have you been playing
a lot of shows or what's what's kind of been Uh?

Speaker 7 (35:25):
Yeah, so it's been a it's been a pretty busy
few months. We've been playing a lot of shows. Uh.
We're talking about starting to record again. Okay, we have
a we have about five or six songs that are
in the hat that we want to we want to
press the wax okay to speak yes yes, which realistically

(35:46):
we're gonna put it on a CD and.

Speaker 3 (35:48):
Yeah, the VHS, but VHS tapes. Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 8 (35:55):
If you're not going to the art show, We're playing
in Nashua tonight, oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Yeah, yeah we should mention that.

Speaker 7 (36:01):
Yeah, we gotta plug that. So at Terminus Underground, New Yeah, we.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
Had Eleanor was with us last week.

Speaker 7 (36:09):
Yeah, we love Eleanor and yeah, so Terminus Underground it
is one thirty four Haines Street in Nation, New Hampshire.
I believe that's the address. Yes, I'm not Magellan, so
he's really bad at geology. I'm no cartographer. So the

(36:30):
doors are at seven. Music starts at eight. It's a
fifteen bucks for regular ticket, twenty bucks for a VI
pizza ticket. Okay, to hang out with us, Yeah, in
case you want to hang out with us, which I
don't know, maybe you do, maybe you don't. We all
smell collectively, okay. Jonas sniffs himself. So we are going

(36:50):
to be playing with pe in public. We can't say
their name on the radio.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
But yeah, it's actually so it's it's it's another word
that starts with P. Yeah. But is this about that
that you can you can fill in the.

Speaker 7 (37:05):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, there's there's three more letters that
follow after PA.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
But uh uh wa kia w k e a h.

Speaker 7 (37:14):
I'm sorry if we're mispronouncing that, or if it's an
acronym that yeah, yeah, or you could ask them tonight
in person. Could you come to Terminus Underground and then
we are also playing with first pick and then uh,
well we're we're Volley's so we're playing it too. But
you should definitely come on out. It's gonna be a

(37:35):
heck of a time. It's a beautiful little spot and yeah.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
It's curated very nicely. It's a very fun, safe, wholesome
place for music and art to.

Speaker 7 (37:46):
It has fire, it has it has like very cool,
almost spooky living room vibes. But it's a it's a
big old room that you can thrash about in. It's
a it's gonna be a good time.

Speaker 6 (37:59):
And there's ample parking. You know, nothing to worry about
as far as finding a spot to.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Ample parking day or night.

Speaker 6 (38:06):
People shouting howdy neighbor.

Speaker 8 (38:07):
Hey, supple parking.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
If you want to get your tickets online, you can
go to New Hampshire Underground dot org and get your
tickets there.

Speaker 7 (38:18):
Yep, good job, Dane.

Speaker 3 (38:20):
Yeah, I tell everyone the same thing, like the first
time you walk into that room, it's like you're walking
into a different world. Yes, it's so cool.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
Yeah, there's a lot of work into it.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
Yeah cool.

Speaker 7 (38:29):
And uh, we actually practice in the same building. We're
literally across. Yeah, we're across the hall, so we don't
have much of a commute.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
Oh wow, that's nice.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
Yeah, we scored a room there. Maybe like three or
four months ago. Our old spot on Vine Street got flooded.
Oh no, really, we were talking about carpentry and stuff
last time we were building our room, and but it
ended up getting flooded, which is pretty bad.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
Oh wow.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (38:54):
So we built our practice space and we were building
a bunch of other rooms too, and it was really cool,
like it made it feel that much more home just
because we built it.

Speaker 4 (39:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (39:04):
We we drew all over the walls and hung all
our artwork and onenot on it.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
But it, uh, it.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Started getting moldy down there, like if you yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (39:16):
So, like we would practice and then after practice we'd
leave and we would all smell musty.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
Oh wow.

Speaker 7 (39:21):
Yeah it was rough and then like yeah it was
it was before it was before a show. I think
it was either Dane or Cody that texted the group
chat and they're like, hey, guys, like the practice space
is flooded and we were all on our way to
go pick up gear for a show, so like, are
you serious right now we get in the entire carpet

(39:44):
is sopping wet. Like, Luckily it didn't damage any of
our gear. I think that's get messed up, like Cody's gigbag, but.

Speaker 6 (39:51):
Yeah, falling falling off together and there. But he took
one for the team.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Yeah yeah, yeah. Wow.

Speaker 6 (39:58):
Luckily we had like multiple layers of carpeting, so it's
sopped up most of it. Yeah, yeah, no, but I
think we lost uh lost my gig bag and my microwave.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
Oh wow, no, yeah, microwave. We had little kitchen. It
was nice, Yeah, Britos and ramen and yeah, yeah we left.

Speaker 7 (40:18):
We left the mini fridge there too. I'm still upset
about that.

Speaker 6 (40:21):
That was just pure laziness I just did. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
So what was it a basement space?

Speaker 4 (40:27):
Yeah, building, it was.

Speaker 7 (40:28):
It was in the basement of a mill building. Yeah,
and we actually we used to rent a room on
the second floor. Yeah really yeah, so you figure we
would have learned. But so we shared it with a
few other bands, and uh, there was there were several
things that just we weren't really digging about that room.

Speaker 3 (40:51):
Yeah, gear theft, oh really.

Speaker 7 (40:54):
Yeah, so we were dealing with like, you know, some
of our stuff going missing and oh wow, because there
were like four other bands that practiced in that room.
It was a giant room. And finally, like one day
before a show, wet we were missing the cable for
our pay and we were providing the PA for the show.
So we were like that's the last straw, Like we're done,

(41:15):
and we moved out that day. The next day there
was a massive flood and like we we were grabbing
like the last of our odds and ends. And I
saw the dudes from one of the other bands like
that were cool with like yeah, they weren't the ones
taking stuff from us. Yeah, And they're like, did did
you guys see the ceiling? And I'm like, oh no,

(41:37):
like we we got everything out and I walk in
it's literally like a waterfall. Oh my god, exactly where
my guitar cab was, his bass cab was, our PA
was Yeah.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (41:51):
So I literally was like we are the luckiest I.

Speaker 3 (41:55):
Know, in a in a way, you're lucky somebody stole
from you because that caused you to leave some time. Yeah. Yeah,
sometimes sometimes that.

Speaker 6 (42:03):
Works out for the best, daddy.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
Yeah, oh that's crazy. Wow, No, but that's cool that
you're in the space that you're in now, right right
in the building there.

Speaker 4 (42:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (42:15):
Yeah, it's it's a little bit smaller than the past
couple of spaces that we've had.

Speaker 4 (42:21):
But safe and secure, the bathrooms and it's dry and dry.

Speaker 7 (42:28):
That is objectively my favorite thing about it is that
it's dry.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
Yes, yes.

Speaker 6 (42:32):
What they don't tell you is that you know it's
called it was a mill building that we were in before,
but it's actually short for mildew.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
There you go and breathing that stuff in over time,
it's really bad for you. Absolute yeah yeah.

Speaker 6 (42:45):
Infection and yeah, everything else that goes along with it
was definitely on the cusp of happening, I'm sure.

Speaker 4 (42:51):
So it was.

Speaker 6 (42:51):
Yeah, it was time. Oh yeah, good to get.

Speaker 4 (42:53):
Out of it. We got pretty lucky securing the room
at New Hampshire Underground for sure. That kind of came
to be.

Speaker 10 (43:00):
I was.

Speaker 4 (43:02):
I was helping out Cody Pope and the key holders
nice so and we were practicing there with Axel because
he's an honorary key member keyholder yep, key member of
the key holders.

Speaker 3 (43:14):
Ye.

Speaker 4 (43:14):
Yeah. And and then just you know, being there and
talking to Andre and getting the right people to call
and stuff, and I'm getting a lease over there.

Speaker 3 (43:22):
So excellent.

Speaker 4 (43:22):
We're pretty pretty lucky.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
Yeah that's great. Yeah, very very cool. So uh now,
so you've got the show tonight, and then what what
else you have? Like you have a lot of shows
coming up? Or what are you because a lot of bands,
you know, as we get into the winter, they kind
of going to hibernation or focusing and recording.

Speaker 7 (43:39):
We want to focus on writing and recording. We have
December second at O'Brien's. Oh nice, I think that's all
we have right now.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
Yeah, right, I believe.

Speaker 3 (43:50):
So, yeah, that's a good place to play though.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (43:53):
So it's a it's gonna be a Tuesday, So we're
a little curious how that's going to turn out. But
we're still we're still so grateful every chance we get
to play, Like there are a lot of musicians out
there that have spectacular talent but don't get the opportunities
that we get. Right, you know, if we play to
a room of just the bands and maybe two people,

(44:15):
or a room of fifty people. We're all still so
very grateful that we get to make the silly little
dream of ours come true.

Speaker 3 (44:21):
Oh yeah, yeah, it just it makes.

Speaker 7 (44:25):
Me so happy to be able to create, especially with
my brothers, Like, yeah, I love these guys.

Speaker 4 (44:31):
Yeah, I love you bro.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
Yeah yeah right.

Speaker 4 (44:33):
And then it's important too, if there's one person or
one hundred people there is to keep that energy level
high regardless.

Speaker 6 (44:39):
Oh absolutely, yeah, that's kind of our thing.

Speaker 7 (44:42):
I'm bouncing off the walls regardless of how many people
are there.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
Yeah, yeah, that's good. That's good, excellent, excellent. Where should
people go online to keep up with everything you guys
are doing? Where's the best place to go?

Speaker 7 (44:53):
So we are on Facebook, it's a Facebook dot com
slash Volley sixty sixty six because we're edgy.

Speaker 3 (45:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (45:02):
The Instagram, and.

Speaker 3 (45:03):
That's why that demon lady was following.

Speaker 7 (45:05):
It's it, Matt, that galaxy brain.

Speaker 3 (45:08):
That's why.

Speaker 6 (45:09):
Yeah, you brought it on yourselves, put the energy out there.

Speaker 7 (45:12):
I feel like I bring a lot of things on myself,
but uh so on Instagram we are also Volley six
sixty six. You can reach out to us at Volley
sixty six six at gmail dot com. For booking inquiries. Uh,
we're on all the streaming platforms and our band camp
is also you're never gonna believe this, Bally six six.

(45:37):
We prefer if you're going to, you know, buy any
of our music or whatnot, you do it through band
camp because the artists get paid better that way. Not
that we're in it for the money, but if there's
money being made, you know, we we'd like to we'd
like to make a little.

Speaker 3 (45:53):
Bit, yeah, to help you know.

Speaker 8 (45:55):
The merch is on there.

Speaker 7 (45:56):
Yeah, yeah, we we have merch on there. We uh,
we need to do another merch run.

Speaker 8 (46:02):
But yeah, d I why we make them?

Speaker 4 (46:06):
Yeah, we were making ourselves.

Speaker 7 (46:08):
Screen print all our shirts, we hand press all our CDs, cassettes.

Speaker 1 (46:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (46:12):
Yeah, there's no automation to it. It's all just with
our own hands.

Speaker 4 (46:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (46:18):
You know, it's it's more meaningful that way, you know,
And it's a it's a blast to make it, so
you know, it's never a dull moment when we're making
merch or making music's.

Speaker 8 (46:27):
Hair drying, hair drying a little assembly line.

Speaker 6 (46:30):
Yeah, job jobs in the assembly line, and we make
it happen.

Speaker 7 (46:35):
Busy little worker bees school.

Speaker 3 (46:37):

talked about this last time, but yeah, yeah, I was.

Speaker 8 (46:42):
I was speed dubbing cassettes in my friend's basement while
I was lifting and dog sitting. Really yeah, any time
would go through and just put the next one.

Speaker 3 (46:53):

Speaker 5 (47:25):
I actually hung up like a collection of some of
my like darkest paintings, which is really interesting to see altogether.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
I've never seen that before. That's awesome.

Speaker 7 (47:34):
I had my art featured there oh in June, I believe.

Speaker 3 (47:39):
