and we're going to talk with them in just a moment.
Welcome everybody. This is Matt Connorton Unleashed and we are
live from the studios of wm NH ninety five point
three FM and Glorious Manchester, New Hampshire. Today is Saturday,
September six, twenty twenty five, and we have entered our

(05:44):
number three New Marrow trace of the program and we've
had a great show thus far and really looking forward
to talking with Pulsifier. Let me get those uh those
Mike's on here. Welcome everybody. Yeah, so let's see. So
we have Mia, Chriz Sticks and Patrick.

Speaker 11 (06:02):
Yes, all right, very.

Speaker 10 (06:03):
Good I'm glad. I sometimes it's hard to you know,
I talked to so many people over the course of
the show. Sometimes I don't remember everybody's names accurately. But
so I'm really glad you're all here and and that
you made the drive. You know, obviously you know you're
you're from out of state, So I mean not that
Portland is like another part of the country or anything,
but no, but I do appreciate. I appreciate you all

(06:23):
coming down and yeah, thanks for having us. And I'm
gonna get to see you live by the way at
Swarmy Fest.

Speaker 11 (06:28):
Right, yes, yeah, we're very excited about that.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (06:31):
Yeah, that's gonna be November fifteenth, actually right across the
street at Jewel.

Speaker 11 (06:37):
Yeah, we just saw it on the way over here.
We just the club Jewel.

Speaker 10 (06:40):
Yes, yes, have you played there before?

Speaker 11 (06:43):
I don't think that we have.

Speaker 12 (06:45):
We have not? Is this band?

Speaker 13 (06:47):
No?

Speaker 7 (06:47):
Not?

Speaker 10 (06:47):
Is this oh? But as a different band? Yeah, I'm curious.
Was what was the previous band?

Speaker 14 (06:51):
I was in a band called render back in the day. Okay, yeah, okay,
we played there.

Speaker 12 (06:56):
With Frank Hannon.

Speaker 10 (06:58):
Frank Hannon I think I member Yeah okay, yeah, yeah,
oh very cool. Now how so, how long has Pulsifier
been around? Has Pulsifier have been around a while? Or yeah?

Speaker 11 (07:08):
What a couple of years now, just a couple of years,
still pretty new. Oh okay, trying to get our music
out there right right?

Speaker 10 (07:16):
How is that going in Portland? Because Portland's always had
a pretty strong music scene, some good college stations there
and whatnot.

Speaker 11 (07:24):
Hey yeah, actually yeah, southern central Maine, I think a
really good live music see lots of good local bands. Yeah,
always something going on.

Speaker 10 (07:33):
Yeah, of great bands, yeah, yeah, no doubt. Are are
there bands there that you you know sometimes it happens organically.
Are there bands there that you've kind of unofficially sort
of teamed up with that you play a lot of
shows with or what do you think, Chris?

Speaker 12 (07:47):
Yeah, yeah, there there is a bunch of bands.

Speaker 11 (07:50):
It's a good sense of community. Yeah, everyone I think
kind of supports each other.

Speaker 10 (07:53):
So that's good. Yeah. Yeah, like like who, like who
are some other bands there.

Speaker 11 (07:58):
That Loki Okay?

Speaker 15 (08:00):
Yeah, okay, we played with low Key quite a lot
in a band called in the Wind.

Speaker 14 (08:04):
Okay, yeah, band called Echo Ritual, Echo Ritual Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I mean it's a bunch. I mean, you feel bad
name it any because you leave a bunch of Yeah,
there's so many.

Speaker 10 (08:14):
That's true. Yeah, I'm always interested in hearing about bands
that we should that we should know about, not all
of them. Yeah, yeah, Now is War right now? Do
you have a full album out or an EP? Or
have you just been releasing singles thus far?

Speaker 11 (08:26):
There's so many different album is coming out? What the
end of this month?

Speaker 10 (08:30):
Oh really? Oh okay, so coming right up.

Speaker 11 (08:32):
Yes, we're very excited to get that out. But yeah,
War I will be one of the songs on there.

Speaker 10 (08:37):
Will this be the first release from Pulsifier as a
as a full album? Yes, okay, okay, excellent, excellent. We're
gonna play in a little bit, uh, the first single
which this will be the world radio premiere for that.
We're very excited. But now, what what went into deciding
to record a full album? Because we live in a
time where you have so many different options as far

(08:59):
as how you release music. You know, the various guests
that we talked to on the show, some some just
do singles, some do EPs, some do albums, Some release
a series of singles that eventually become an album, which
is kind of the inverse of how it used to be.
It used to be, you know, you have an album
and then you've got singles from that album. So what
went into your decision as a band to say, let's
let's do a full album.

Speaker 12 (09:18):
Well, the latter is kind of what we did.

Speaker 14 (09:19):
We started out doing singles, yeah, and then we were like, hey,
we have enough to put together, let's let's do an
actual physical copy that a lot of people ask for.

Speaker 10 (09:28):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, And so you're actually going to do
physical colleges.

Speaker 11 (09:31):
Yeah, people still ask for that. I was surprised too, Yeah,
but everything, Oh yeah, people want that physical CD has
the artwork.

Speaker 10 (09:37):
And yeah, I've kind of come to the conclusion that
that's an American phenomenon. And the reason I say that
is because we also, in fact the last segment in
the second hour, we interviewed a band called Brides from
the UK, and we talked to a lot of bands
from overseas, and it seems like everybody, everybody that we
talked to from Europe, they they're like, oh, CDs are dead.

(10:00):
You know, we're just releasing everything digitally. Nobody wants CDs anymore.
And here it's been such a especially I think in
the last five years maybe ten years. You know, there
was a point where it seemed like CDs were dead
here too. But then but then they've they've made a resurgence,
and Vinyl of course had an even bigger resurgence.

Speaker 14 (10:18):
Say yeah, yeah, yeah, that's why we're making sure that
our artwork for the CD is interesting as well.

Speaker 12 (10:26):
Yeah, more visuals.

Speaker 10 (10:27):
Yeah, okay, okay, good, good, Yeah, because that's something I
always left like when I was a kid. You know,
you open a CD or an album and you have
the lyrics, and and if you're really a fan, you know,
you'll go through and look at all the liner notes
and you know you want to you want to know
who their management company is, or who engineered the album
or you know, if you really, if you really want
to geek out on it, you know, so, which I did.

(10:50):
Yeah that's great, that's great.

Speaker 12 (10:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (10:52):
How many?

Speaker 10 (10:53):
So how many tracks on the album?

Speaker 11 (10:55):
I think this one has? Seven?

Speaker 12 (10:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 15 (10:56):
Seven?

Speaker 10 (10:57):
Seven? Okay, okay.

Speaker 11 (10:58):
Our songs are slightly younger than some so yeah seven.

Speaker 10 (11:03):
Okay, okay, Like what's the do you know, offhand, like,
what's the longest track on the album?

Speaker 15 (11:07):
Six nineteen it's a venomous thing.

Speaker 10 (11:09):
Venomous thing. Oh yes, so I I played that for
for those listening live. I did play that in the
first hour today to kind of give people a creepy
for because that's my favorite of the of the four
that you sent me.

Speaker 13 (11:19):
That was it?

Speaker 10 (11:21):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, no, that's a great song. I love
the vocals on that. Who so in studio who obviously
you know you're the lead singer. Who else is doing
the backing vocals on that? Is that all you? Or
are there other members singing?

Speaker 11 (11:34):
They recorded it? Yeah, he had me go back and
add the harmony.

Speaker 10 (11:38):
Yet, Yeah, it sounded really good. It sounded really good.
Is that challenging at all? Harmonizing with yourself that way?
I've heard some singers say that can be like it's
when you're it's easy to harmonize with somebody else, but
when it's your own voice that you're listening to, it's
challenging to do this.

Speaker 11 (11:52):
It's really tricky to do it live.

Speaker 10 (11:53):
Also, well, yeah, so what does happen live? Does everybody sing?
Is it does to become a gang vocal thing or
do you just use carry it yourself?

Speaker 11 (12:03):
Yeah? Yeah, just do the main vocal part.

Speaker 10 (12:05):
Yeah, yeah, no, that's cool. So how did Pulsifier come together.
You know, you mentioned a band that that used to
be in Chris, But but how did how did the
four of you because again, you know, Portland is such
a great scene there, there's musicians everywhere, Like, how did
the four of you coalesce to form this this unit?

Speaker 14 (12:22):
What was kind of the well I was, I was
in a I was in a band called Signal to
Noise for a while. I remember Signal to Noise still
out there, still killing it.

Speaker 12 (12:30):
Yeah, yeah, okay, So it was it was a deal
where some of my.

Speaker 14 (12:35):
Music wasn't being brought to the front. Yeah, and my
ladies like I can write with songs, so any.

Speaker 11 (12:42):
Riffs that they didn't use the opportunity to write.

Speaker 10 (12:46):
So so you had ideas, but you know, it kind
of was it kind of a crowded situation where you've
got you've got the people who write, and they don't
kind of want to necessarily share that.

Speaker 12 (12:55):
That's right.

Speaker 14 (12:56):
Yeah, And and and so we would me and MEA
would set the campfire. MO would write these songs and uh,
and we're like, what are we doing? We gotta we
gotta do our own comes up.

Speaker 11 (13:07):
With these guitar riffs that I can just feel what
he's feeling and inspires me. And I had been writing
poetry and stuff previously, so I thought I can.

Speaker 14 (13:15):
Write words for this and yeah, okay, yeah, and then
we we looked for a while to get the you
get these guys to jump on with us, and you know,
the right the right fit is super important.

Speaker 12 (13:28):
The chemistry has to be right.

Speaker 10 (13:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (13:29):
Yeah, because I really I built this band from second
one to be a band, to be on a bus,
to be touring constantly, so you know, not only musicians,
but the chemistry, the thing had to be right.

Speaker 11 (13:42):
Yeah, like a family. Yeah, because we're all living together
when we're on the bus, when we're on the road.

Speaker 10 (13:47):
So yeah, it's yeah. I think I had a phone
conversation with you all once. I don't know if you remember,
and you're about about about our radio stuff and then
and I think you were you were on your way
to a show or something.

Speaker 11 (14:03):
You were I remember that again because we were on
the bus.

Speaker 10 (14:05):
Yeah, speak, Yeah, that's right. So how how far have
you have you gone as far as story and like,
where have you gone outside of outside of the area.

Speaker 15 (14:14):
Patrick can tell us that, Okay, yeah, we've we've gone
through the whole country, you know, Our first tour was
with Annville last year. That was I believe, uh feb
you were no, No, that was all that was summer.
That was August last year. And yeah, we did the
whole East coast and they drove over to Texas and
did Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, went up to Washington

(14:37):
and then back across. We hit like uh, Detroit and
Chicago and stuff and Ohio and Cleveland. So we really
did the entire perimeter of the country and some of
the stuff in the middle too. Wow, twenty six shows.
That was a good one.

Speaker 10 (14:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (14:50):
And the second tour was out in kind of like
that was our our February tour of this year, and
that was with Smile, Empty Soul and Tantrick and oh wow.
Yeah it was amazing. Yeah, those our great guys, all
of them. And yeah, that was like Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma,
Arkansas area. And did another one with Anvil that was

(15:10):
mostly the East coast right after that.

Speaker 10 (15:12):
That must have been fun.

Speaker 12 (15:13):
It's a blast. Yeah. Yeah, those guys are legendary. Yeah,
always the one.

Speaker 10 (15:19):
Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 12 (15:20):
They treated us way better than they had.

Speaker 11 (15:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (15:24):
Oh that's cool. That's excellent. Well I think we should.
Uh so what should we know about this? About the
new track this is going to be the first single
from the album correct, barriers within within.

Speaker 11 (15:36):
Yes, So, this song was inspired by a Roomy quote
which says, your task is not to seek for love,
but merely to seek and find all the barriers within
yourself that you have built against it. Okay, the words
to this song were inspired by that quote.

Speaker 10 (15:55):
Oh, excellent, excellent, all right, so we're gonna play this
and again. This is the world old radio premiere of
this tract. All right, all right, Barriers within from Pulsifire.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
You are listening to Wuminate.

Speaker 12 (16:10):
World premiere.

Speaker 16 (16:18):
Your task is not to seek for love, merely to
seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you
have built against it.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Seeking for marriers.

Speaker 17 (16:52):
Built within that g bus luck too far, render by
us of a fliction, recognizing years, the hard squat, how
the water the big.

Speaker 3 (18:13):

Speaker 3 (18:59):
How's that out there? Have a sad girl called spirals down.

Speaker 5 (19:08):
So long and.

Speaker 18 (19:09):
Round sing crowns that say, I swear to the south, so.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
Sure the river.

Speaker 3 (19:36):

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Let's come.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
Love down.

Speaker 10 (21:51):
There. It is the world radio premiere of the new
track from Pulsifier from the upcoming album that is called
Barriers Within. I love it. That's very cool, very cool. Yeah,
great job, great chob absolutely So when's the album out?
You probably mentioned it, but I do.

Speaker 11 (22:08):
We haven't exacted or are we? Just the end of
this month?

Speaker 12 (22:12):
The first single is going to be like the first
weekend of October.

Speaker 10 (22:16):
Okay, yeah, gotcha, gotcha? And then oh so the first
single yeah, and then and so you don't have it
for me e t a on the album yet.

Speaker 12 (22:24):
Above the same time, we're going to go releast the
whole thing.

Speaker 10 (22:27):
Yeah, any videos, if if you, if you all made
any videos for these for any of these songs, because
because the music, I mean, there's there's an element of
I don't know if theatricality is quite the word, but but.

Speaker 11 (22:38):
That's definitely a good word.

Speaker 10 (22:40):
It seems like it seems like these songs would would
lend themselves to that.

Speaker 11 (22:44):
Definitely. I agree, Yeah, I like the theatrics.

Speaker 12 (22:47):
Yeah, everything kind of in order. We haven't quite got there.
We have a lyric video for for a Venomous Thing,
but we've done a full video yet.

Speaker 11 (22:56):
Yeah, but the plans we definitely will you're going.

Speaker 10 (22:58):
To do one are okay? Yeah, okay, now that makes sense.

Speaker 15 (23:03):
It's kind of like a three step process where or
we we've been advised to kind of do like a
short teaser video as we're coming up to releasing the
song before we release it, and then maybe a little later,
do a lyric video for Barriers for the same song
Barriers within yeah, and then a little after that do

(23:24):
the full music video.

Speaker 10 (23:26):
Okay okay, and then what's what's the live show? Like
I mean, are there any I guess, I guess uh.
Theatrics said, yes.

Speaker 11 (23:34):
We definitely try to incorporate a lot of visual so
there's something for people to watch, get right upon them. Okay,
can you hear me?

Speaker 6 (23:41):
Now?

Speaker 10 (23:41):
You can pull it closer to you if it's easier,
that's fine too. Yeah. I just want to make sure
we try.

Speaker 11 (23:45):
To incorporate a lot of visual so people can you know,
it helps to tell the story, yeah, goes along with
the lyrics. So yeah, there's definitely some props involved.

Speaker 15 (23:54):
Okay, okay, have you seen any videos of our live performances. No,
we have a ton on YouTube. Will a hundred videos
on YouTube? Oh my god, you can see what we're
all about.

Speaker 11 (24:04):
And each song and each song has its own feel,
each song tells its own story, So there's props, there's visuals,
there's stuff going on that that kind of recreate that
and add to it, and we're hoping, yeah, that the
audience will feel just immersed, yeah, rounded and a part
of it.

Speaker 10 (24:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (24:23):
A lot of these topics for these songs are not
the norm, so it's it's it's nice to have the
visuals to help explain you.

Speaker 11 (24:33):
The horse Head with War Cry like there's a meeting.
It's not just about the horse head, right. That song,
you know, was inspired by researching Alexander the Great's war horse,
uciphilis really Yeah, if you ever look up the story
of bucyphilis. He was afraid of his own shadow, and
Alexander the Great learned if you turn him away from

(24:56):
his shadow, turn his head to the sun. He became
this great warrior. Yeah, and we just thought, you know,
we could all apply that to our lives. We turn
away from your own darkness.

Speaker 10 (25:05):
And interesting look to the light.

Speaker 11 (25:07):
So yeah, there's different props that represent stuff like that.

Speaker 10 (25:11):
Okay, okay, that's cool. What are some of the other
lyrical themes that show up in these songs?

Speaker 11 (25:18):
Well, for example, distracted Gaze, the props for that are chains. Yeah,
that's the song about anyone who's ever struggled, or who
has known someone who has struggled, breaking free from the
chains of addiction, whatever that addiction may be.

Speaker 10 (25:34):
That's relatable for a lot of people.

Speaker 11 (25:36):
Yeah, we always hope that with our songs. Yeah, there'll
be something somebody can relate to. Yeah, and we'll have
lived through themselves.

Speaker 10 (25:43):
Yeah. Yeah, does it ever happen? Where does anyone ever
approach you and say, hey, that that song.

Speaker 11 (25:48):
Really after some of our lives shows, people have come up,
and that is actually the best feeling, the best feedback
when someone comes up. Sometimes after Scars, I've had people
come up and share their own very like private personal
stories of what they have gone through too and how
the music has helped them not to feel so alone.

Speaker 12 (26:09):
Yeah, distracted gaze as well. Yeah really, Yeah, she's had
to like spend moments with people like like they won't.

Speaker 11 (26:17):
Really they open up and share these yeah, like personally
and we kind of have that connection which is so special, which.

Speaker 12 (26:23):
Is what we're looking for.

Speaker 10 (26:24):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 11 (26:27):
Yeah, kept in touch. There's a few people, yeah, who
want to keep in touch and we still talk through.

Speaker 10 (26:32):
Some things and oh that's excellent. Yeah yeah it's great. Yeah, yeah,
very good, very good. Well we should play maybe we
should play that one scars. Should we give that a listen?

Speaker 12 (26:41):
Sure, that'd be great.

Speaker 10 (26:42):
We'll make that the next one. Yeah, here it is, Yeah,
this this all. Yeah, this is a great track. This
is a great track. If you're just joining us. We
have Pulsifier here with us alive in studio and uh,
we're gonna play this this is on the upcoming album too.
I assume I assume these all are it is. Yes,
did we by the way, what's the name of the
album or did you say.

Speaker 12 (27:00):
Or we haven't? We haven't yet. We'll go say for
the first time.

Speaker 11 (27:04):
Oh yeah, the name of the album will be a
personas personas.

Speaker 10 (27:08):
Okay, very good? All right, So from the upcoming album Personas.
Here it is, this is Scars and the band is
Pulsifier Heaven.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
No, let's go on a statue. Hold on, du was
never good enough. That's my staff. Give that it all
to you. What don't action so mad?

Speaker 5 (27:27):

Speaker 3 (36:09):
We could stamp, break, break the glass, change hold them.

Speaker 10 (36:17):
That is glass Cage. The band is Pulsifier and that
is gonna be on the upcoming album. What's it called
the end?

Speaker 11 (36:23):
Personas personas?

Speaker 10 (36:25):
Yes, I love it. That is that is really good.
It's really good. Gets you move in, gets you move in.
And we also heard Scars before that too, another great track.
And uh, we got one more that we're gonna say
for the end. But so we were talking off air
while I was playing, and Chris, you were commenting, and
this is something I noticed. So I'm glad you reminded
me because I wanted to ask about this. When you're

(36:48):
when you're soloing, you know there's not a second guitar
track underneath. That's right, and which is an interesting decision
because that's that's not what a lot of bands do,
although some bands do that. But but you can can
you explain, uh, because you were explaining it off Aaron,
This was interesting to me. Why you make that choice.

Speaker 14 (37:05):
Yeah, it just allows the uh, the fantastic bass plane
of Patrick to shine through where it should. Yeah, you know,
we want to make sure that's heard, you know, not
only in the uh in the souls, but.

Speaker 12 (37:16):
Through the songs as well.

Speaker 14 (37:17):
Yeah, and we did two or three passes for some
of these songs, like hey, can you turn up the
base a little bit more on this recording? Yeah, we
want to make sure that it's there, and we want
to make sure it's kind of like it simulates live sound.

Speaker 10 (37:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (37:32):
Yeah, that's what we sound like.

Speaker 10 (37:34):
As a bass player myself. I commend you for that
because because we we bass players don't get the respect
we deserve.

Speaker 15 (37:39):
Right, my friends, now we're friends now, Yes.

Speaker 12 (37:42):
Yes, Patrick gets it, don't you worry.

Speaker 10 (37:44):
No, that's good. That's good.

Speaker 11 (37:47):
And then.

Speaker 10 (37:49):
So when you do is that is that the case
with all those songs, like do you use it so
you don't use the second guitar track on anything No, wow, okay, interesting, okay, No,
that's yeah. No, I like that and it does. Yeah,
it does. Let the whole rhythm section kind of come through,
which was it Scars too? There's like, uh, there's a
solo you do toward the end. Was it Scars or

(38:11):
was it the one we played before that where it's
like you kind of don't see it coming, like all
of a sudden, you're playing and it's like, oh, I
didn't expect a solo there.

Speaker 12 (38:17):
Yeah it was Barriers.

Speaker 10 (38:19):
Yeah, well it might have been. It probably was. Yeah,
Actually it feels like yeah. And I was like and
I was like, oh, that's cool. Oh it must have
been Barriers because I hadn't heard that before now yeah,
and so and because the other ones I'd already listened to,
and I was kind of like, oh, but I like that.
I like the surprise. You know, it fits right, but
it's still kind of a surprise. It's like, oh, that
solo kind of sneaks up on you. Yeah.

Speaker 14 (38:38):
That whole breakdown section is the part that Patrick had
written Okay that I kind of played over the top
of it.

Speaker 12 (38:43):
Yeah, you know, yeah, like, hey, what was that bass rif?
Just play it? On the guitar and play a solo
over it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I like that. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (38:51):
I'm kind of curious too about some of your influences
as far as vocals, like who who did you listen
to growing up? Or who do you listen to now?
And who who?

Speaker 11 (39:00):
Kind of so many But yeah, we were talking about
that where we all came from different backgrounds before we
all got together. I was actually from a theater background
before teaming up with these guys, so musical theater and
community theater stuff like that since I was a kid.

Speaker 10 (39:18):
Yeah, So is that is that how you learn to
sing basically and the way that you do?

Speaker 11 (39:23):
I used to say, I'm not necessarily a singer. I'm
an actress. I can act like I can sing, and
you know, lots of karaoke nights. Yeah, And I would
say what I lack in talent, I make up for
with enthusiasm.

Speaker 10 (39:39):
But so you didn't have any vocal any formal training
as far as working with a vocal coach or anything.

Speaker 11 (39:43):
Not formal training now, you know, just yeah, just for fun, Yeah,
singing along with the radio, karaoke nights, stuff like that.

Speaker 10 (39:50):
Yeah. Is there anyone who kind of inspires you in
terms of how they sing, like I see, I hope
this isn't too cliche, but I hear a little bit
of Ann Wilson all right, thank you?

Speaker 11 (40:00):
Yes, yeah, yeah, that's a huge compliment. Yep, she's amazing,
Amy Lee with avan essence love them. Yeah yeah, I
grew up yeah in the nineties with that, Like that's
a huge influence.

Speaker 10 (40:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (40:16):
Alanis Morissette is such a good storyteller. Yes, yeah, just
a lot.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (40:23):
And then so so who who are the primary writers?
So is that the two of you?

Speaker 13 (40:27):
Is it?

Speaker 12 (40:28):
Well?

Speaker 10 (40:28):
As far as music, and.

Speaker 12 (40:29):
We all definitely do our own parts, that's their own part.

Speaker 9 (40:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (40:33):
I write the words and sing them. Yeah, Chris does
the guitar, riffs, Jay on drums, Patrick on bass, and
we all you know, when we come together, it just
grows into something new.

Speaker 12 (40:43):
Yeah. Right, it's no fun having one guy dictate everything.

Speaker 10 (40:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (40:46):
I want to be inspired by the other guys in
the room, people in the room. So I want everybody
to do their own thing well as much as possible.
Everybody has ideas.

Speaker 10 (40:54):
Oh yeah, well certainly, and again there's part of my
bass by bias as a bass player. But you know,
but but certainly it does sound like the rhythm section
has a lot to do with how these songs. Oh yeah,
flesh out because you know, both the bass and the drums.
I mean you can really hear everything comes through and
uh and it is definitely a part of the Pulsifier sound.

Speaker 14 (41:17):
Absolutely, Yeah, everybody playing off each other. You can hear
like the bass does follows the drums or back and
forth or whatever. Everybody's kind of Oh that's a cool part.
Let me see if I can accent that. Yeah, a
lot of lot to feel that way.

Speaker 10 (41:31):
Where does the name come from? By the way, Pulsifier
Who came up with the name?

Speaker 12 (41:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (41:35):
Yeah, yeah, it has meaning though, do you want to
explain it early?

Speaker 12 (41:39):
You can.

Speaker 11 (41:42):
The idea behind it was, you know that inspiration comes
from not from just us personally, but from all around us. Yeah,
and we take that inspiration and use it to make
something new. You know, it passes through us as a
band that we can share with everyone else as something different.

Speaker 10 (42:01):
Yeah, no, that makes sense.

Speaker 11 (42:03):
The vibrational pulse.

Speaker 12 (42:05):
Right right, so we add our own spin on the
vibe and send it back out.

Speaker 10 (42:09):
Yeah okay. And then the name of the album personas,
where where does that name come from personas.

Speaker 14 (42:14):
Oh, that's just it's that is because every song is
kind of like it's kind of a each character of
someone's personality. You know, if you go to work, you
have one persona. If you want to rock stage, you're
on another persona. And that's what this album is like.
It's all these songs are are kind of like a
journey of growth, Yeah, with different characters and different shadows

(42:38):
that you have to deal with.

Speaker 11 (42:40):
The warrior, the lover, the the child, the animal, yeah,
the inner voice, ye, shadow, all of it.

Speaker 10 (42:50):
Yeah, No, that's that's cool. When you when you play live,
do you do you have any material that you haven't
recorded that is part of your live set, because it
sounds like you got a lot of ideas. You probably
have lots of songs. I haven't red it yet, right.

Speaker 12 (43:05):
Yeah, we have way too many songs and really yeah, yeah, it's.

Speaker 15 (43:09):
So hard to decide which songs to put on the
album because like in my opinion, and I think in
all of our opinions, every single song is a banger,
Like they can all be the single. None of them
are filler. Yeah, So it was like almost a shame
only doing seven songs.

Speaker 10 (43:23):
It's a good problem. To have. But yeah, it's like,
I mean, how do you even decide when you've got
I mean how hard? Yeah?

Speaker 11 (43:29):
Like which ones do we leave out? We don't want
to leave any of them out? I want them all
out there.

Speaker 10 (43:34):
How many songs do you have? Can you put a
number on it? Like as a band originals?

Speaker 11 (43:40):
How many do you think? No finish?

Speaker 12 (43:43):
So I actually we.

Speaker 14 (43:44):
Actually try to prioritize and not like completely finish the song,
and we live and we give it plenty times to grow.
There's many songs we jam we are constantly jamming on.
We have one called h I Have the Storm. It's
been something we've been the new one. We've been just
messing with that for months now. It's just slowly growing.

Speaker 12 (44:04):
It has to give. You have to give it time.

Speaker 15 (44:06):
You have to time to grow, like simmering in the pot.

Speaker 8 (44:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (44:10):
Yeah, we came up with a new part on that
song just a couple of weeks ago. It was it
was like, oh, there we go, that's what we were
looking forwards.

Speaker 12 (44:16):
Yeah, it's great.

Speaker 10 (44:17):
Yeah, where did did we talk about where you recorded? Where? Where?
Where did you've recorded these? Because everything Halo Studio?

Speaker 11 (44:25):
Okay, John Wyman.

Speaker 10 (44:27):
Yeah, Okay, I want to make sure legendary. Everything sounds
so good, so we want to make sure. Okay, so
tell me. So I don't know about John Wyman, tell
me about him.

Speaker 14 (44:34):
The halo is is world famous or infamous? Oh yeah, yeah,
and yeah he's uh, he's done some done some pretty
incredible stuff, especially with the local scene. But he's also
also on National Guy. You know, I don't want to misspeak.
I don't I can't say for sure. Some of the
Nationalists done, but he's done.

Speaker 12 (44:54):
You know.

Speaker 14 (44:55):
I think the last one is big thing he did
was pretty reckless stuff. I'm not okay, yeah, okay.

Speaker 10 (45:00):
So he's in Portland or is he? Where is he?

Speaker 12 (45:03):
Yeah? Non descript undisclosed buildings.

Speaker 11 (45:07):
Yeah, it looks like yeah, from the outside, you would
not expect what's on the inside. I love that.

Speaker 12 (45:13):
Okay, Yeah, what a cool spot.

Speaker 10 (45:15):
Wow.

Speaker 12 (45:15):
Yeah, the good guy is amazing.

Speaker 10 (45:19):
And how did you come to work with him? How
did that come about? Because because he's obviously a big.

Speaker 14 (45:23):
You know, yeah, it bled over from from my previous
bands that I would I would call it there. Yeah, okay,
oh cool, And I just knew that I'm not going
to go anywhere else.

Speaker 12 (45:32):
That's the place to go.

Speaker 11 (45:33):
Yeah, yeah, actually, yeah, it's such a good ear for details.

Speaker 10 (45:38):
Does he does he kind of become like, you know,
because obviously every producer has their own style, everyone's different,
everyone kind of has their own approach. Does he become
like like that, like a fifth member of the band.

Speaker 12 (45:49):
Or he did? Yeah, yeah, he was.

Speaker 9 (45:51):
He was.

Speaker 12 (45:53):
Talking about doing the harmonies for for Scars.

Speaker 11 (45:59):
He gets excited and then you know, are like, we're
onto something. Likes it.

Speaker 14 (46:04):
Yeah, she's be't doing her vocal stuff. And after you
take Ea spins around, he's like, did you guys hear that?

Speaker 10 (46:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 12 (46:08):
That was that was fantastic. And you let me bring
out my little player and show you the fists.

Speaker 11 (46:14):
And no kidd Yeah, and he'll play something.

Speaker 12 (46:18):
Very creative, so he gets the juices flowing as well.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
Brilliant.

Speaker 15 (46:21):
Yeah, and he has the most incredible ear too, Like
your guitar could be out of tune by one cent
and they'll be like, oh, no, tune not And you're like,
what do you mean, Like it's imperfect?

Speaker 12 (46:32):
You know it's not.

Speaker 14 (46:33):
We're playing the live track and he's like, Patrick, your
d string is off, it's flat.

Speaker 12 (46:38):
Yeah, I'm like, okay, not according to the tuner, it's not,
but you're.

Speaker 11 (46:44):
Easy on you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he gets the best
out of you.

Speaker 10 (46:48):
Yeah, that's what it takes. It's but it's also good
to you, good, good for you. It speaks you know,
you're obviously mature as a band to be able to
work with someone like because some people can't work with
a producer like that, you know what I mean. Some
people get resentful. They feel like, oh, this guy's trying
to take over what I'm doing, you know what I mean.
So for you to be able to go in and

(47:08):
be open, you know, not everyone can go to him.

Speaker 11 (47:11):
We want that.

Speaker 14 (47:12):
Yeah, you've gotta be careful not to be too attached
to your own ideas. It prevents growth and thought.

Speaker 12 (47:17):
You just have to go with that.

Speaker 11 (47:19):
But he lets us try too. That's another thing.

Speaker 4 (47:20):
I like.

Speaker 11 (47:21):
I'll be like, can I just try? I go be like,
this is gonna sound really weird. Can I just try something?

Speaker 10 (47:25):
Yeah, And I'll be like.

Speaker 11 (47:26):
And then give me your feedback. If you don't like it,
we'll cut it, take it. Lets me try stuff.

Speaker 10 (47:33):
I'm really glad I moved that filter. He sounds so
much better.

Speaker 11 (47:36):
Let's start over.

Speaker 10 (47:37):
Yeah, but if you are just joining us. We have
Pulsifier here with us alive in studio, and so what's
kind of the do you know what the sort of
the long term plan is? So the album will be
out probably October, like what's kind.

Speaker 11 (47:53):
Of about October?

Speaker 10 (47:54):
And then you're gonna be hitting the road again or
then we are hitting.

Speaker 11 (47:57):
The road again for another national tour. This one's called Rocktober.

Speaker 15 (48:01):
Okay, Scottie Austin from Saving Abel Oh.

Speaker 10 (48:05):
Okay, yeah, yeah, okay, So so tell us about this.
Is this like a is it like a package tour,
a festival or what like what?

Speaker 12 (48:12):
It's kind of a mixture? Yeah, he is.

Speaker 14 (48:13):
He is making a big push for one of one
of his songs, so he has kind of like handpicked
his favorite spots that he's played over the years. Oh
and so this is gonna be like this ought to
be a pretty interesting tour.

Speaker 10 (48:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (48:28):
Yeah, you have a lot of support and he's wild.

Speaker 11 (48:32):
He's so fun to watch live. Yeah, a lot of fun,
very entertaining.

Speaker 14 (48:36):
Yeah, we just did a show with him in Ohio
and we were just standing out watching and he just
looked at it. He's like, you guys are coming up
with us.

Speaker 10 (48:46):
Oh that's very cool.

Speaker 11 (48:49):
Yeah, we had to run up, but we're in that
half pipe. We're in there's a skate park. The stage
was on the top of the half pipe, so he's like,
come on up here, guys, and we like ran up
the I jumped on stage.

Speaker 12 (49:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (49:03):
He's quite character and great, great entertainer. Yeah, oh very cool.
Are you on the full tour? Are you doing the
whole run with him? Who on the whole way? Excellent?

Speaker 14 (49:12):
We actually have We actually have three more after that
before April three one tours, so we're going to be
busy through the yeah. Yeah, and after that we want
to flip the script. We want to be on the
other side of of the you know, instead of direct support.
We want to see if we can, uh, what we
can do as far as headlining a small club tour.

Speaker 12 (49:32):
Yeah, we're just kind of feeling it out, yeah, what
we can do. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (49:36):
Yeah, so you're on the right path. Are you on
a label by the way, as far as the album
itself that's going to be coming out or is that
all DI I Y or how are you doing that?
Because there's so many Like we were talking about earlier,
there's so many ways to release music. Now, there's so
many ways to.

Speaker 12 (49:49):
Yeah, this this management, but there's no it's it would
still technically independent. Yeah, it protects us the best.

Speaker 10 (49:55):
Yeah, yeah, it does, absolutely does.

Speaker 14 (49:59):
There's no you know a lot of time, you know,
you hear it over and over, there's no reason to
have a label. I'm sure labels will disagree, and I'm
sure that they can get you out there. But there's
a there's always a back and forth, there's always a
you always pay for it one way or another.

Speaker 10 (50:12):
It's always a risk too, because you know a label,
you know, they might come along and offer you a
bunch of you know, big advance for your album or
whatever and that kind of thing, and the cash infusion
is great, it can be, and they might, you know,
they might make you famous. They also might have you
record an album and then say we've changed our mind
and shelve your album that you've worked on and you

(50:33):
can't be heartbreak and you can't do anything with it.

Speaker 14 (50:37):
Oh yeah, hey, there's a there's already a hard rock
album out. We're going to hold yours off until that
runs its course. And oh yeah, there's a lot to it.

Speaker 10 (50:45):
There's so much that can go wrong. Yeah, and I'm
not saying, you know, I mean, obviously, if the right
deal came along, you know, you'd consider it, right, but
absolutely yeah, But but you're being smart about it, you know.
And and we live in a time where you don't
have to wait for the right deal. You can just
go make your own you know, go make your own way.
And and so I think you're on a great path.
I think you're Yeah.

Speaker 14 (51:06):
I mean, it comes to a point where in order
to do some of the bigger things you have to
be on the label. We're not quite there yet, so
we're not worried about it. Yeah, yeah, no, I think
so until then, we're gonna drive our own ship a
little bit longer.

Speaker 10 (51:16):
There you go, There you go. No, I think that's
the right approach. Absolutely so. And then we should remind
people too about Swarmy Fest coming out November fifteenth.

Speaker 11 (51:27):
Yeah, Yes, November fifteenth. Swarmy Fast sounds like it's going
to be amazing. Has the band Sepsis, Yeah, and a
bunch of other bands and acts and performers.

Speaker 10 (51:38):
Silent Season is now co headlining with Sepsis, which is cool.
We had them on recently and uh, yeah, they're they're great.

Speaker 11 (51:45):
We're very excited to be part of it.

Speaker 10 (51:46):
Yeah yeah, yeah, right across the street a Jewel and
this show Matt Conderton Unleashed. We're one of the sponsors.
This will be our third year.

Speaker 12 (51:54):
Very cool.

Speaker 10 (51:55):
Yeah yeah, so we'll be there, Jenny and I will
be there, so yeah, really looking forward to that. So yeah,
that'll be a fun.

Speaker 11 (52:01):
Yeah, we can't wait.

Speaker 15 (52:02):
Yeah, we've been trying to play with Stepsis for a
little while, but we've had opportunities, but there's always just
been you know, a wrench in the plans with timing.

Speaker 11 (52:10):
Yeah, yeah, kind of coordinate. Yeah, who's free when? So yeah,
we're very excited to team up with them and everyone
who's part of it. Yeah yeah, everyone who comes out. Yeah,
it's like, come on out and party with us.

Speaker 10 (52:20):
We're gonna have fun, absolutely absolutely, Well, the time goes quickly.
We are approaching the top of the hour, and I
want to make sure that we can get this last
song and because we are going to play in a moment,
we're gonna play Venomous Thing. Okay, So I need to
know is there a story, like.

Speaker 11 (52:36):
What is a story behind everything?

Speaker 10 (52:38):
I need to know, especially this one, because like I said,
this one's my favorite.

Speaker 11 (52:42):
Yes, there's a story behind every song that we do.
So for this one for Venomous Thing, like we talked about,
it was actually the first single that we released, and
this song is really for anyone who's ever dealt with
any type of toxic relationship, codependent relationship, and it's really

(53:03):
about kind of looking at that whole relationship but also
looking at yourself, like self reflection. And you know what
part did I play? And like with most of our songs,
it's you know, the the underlying element is also about
becoming stronger and healing and just personal growth.

Speaker 10 (53:21):
Yeah, okay, okay, very good. I like the positive message
and all of that, so, which seems to be a
theme in your music. So I think that's amazing it is, yes,
And also so before we play that, before we finish
up one other thing, where's the best place for people
to go online? Where should people go online? To keep
up with everything Pulsifier is doing.
