Yes, and congratulations again on that, Thank you, absolutely absolutely
all right. Well, so we've got let me get these
mics on here. We've got the guys from Vally. This
is your second time on the show, right.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
I believe, yes, indeed, So let's start.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Let's start here in the corner. Let's go around the room.
You can each tell us who you are and what
you do in the band.

Speaker 7 (02:50):
Hi, I'm Cody, I play bass in the band, all.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Right, Cody.

Speaker 8 (02:53):
I'm Dane. I play guitar.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
All right, Dan.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
My name is Sean, and I do the vocals and
the silly st chanted.

Speaker 5 (03:01):
Yes, yes, and Youah played Jonah. I apologize. I can
barely hear you, and that's because using that extra mic there,
all right, say that.

Speaker 9 (03:10):
Again, Jonah, Jonah, I played the drums.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
Hi, Jonah, welcome, welcome, all right, very good. So now
you guys were on with us once before. I think
it was what it was all four of you last
time too, wasn't it were you all four here?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
He wasn't here?

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Oh Cody, Cody wasn't here. Okay, okay, So I remember
asking you, Now I am saying the name correctly, right,
It's it's Volley. Am I saying that right? Yeah?

Speaker 10 (03:30):
You are one of the few people that say it correctly.
Usually people say Vowley.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
That was a conversation I remember we had last time.
I think it was on the air. I was like, yeah, yeah, yeh,
because uh yeah, that's that's how I thought. That's what
I thought it was. I thought it was Volley U
or VOWLEI rather, but it is Volley. So is does
that ever get misspelled, like on a poster or anything
for for shows? Do people screw it up?

Speaker 10 (03:52):
Yeah, We've had a few where people because our logo
is a pill and it's those Volley twenty milligrams. Yeah,
We've been on a few show flyers where they think
are as Valey twenty milligram.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
Yeah. Yeah, Oh that's funny.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah, that's funny.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
I can see how that would happen though. So tell
us about because we were talking about when you were
on the show before you had a show coming up
in Japan or a tour or the world tour.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah, but but you did it.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
You guys went to Japan, I'm done to hear all
about it.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
So the flight there was treacherous. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (04:27):
So it was a six hour flight from Boston to
San Francisco, then twelve hour flight from San Francisco to Tokyo,
and then a three hour flight from Tokyo to Okinawa.
So and if I remember correctly, we didn't really have

(04:47):
any layovers on the way there.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Yeah, it was a lot.

Speaker 10 (04:53):
Yeah, we we actually so when we landed in Tokyo,
they told us to go to the wrong gate. Oh no, yes,
we went to the wrong gate, and you know, everything's
in Kanji, so we couldn't we couldn't figure it out,
and we actually wound up missing our initial flight to Okinawa.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Oh no.

Speaker 10 (05:12):
And Jonah was at the gate for the flight that
we were supposed to be on, but the three of us, like,
we couldn't get through. It was too late to board.
So Jonahs calling us and calling us, and he was
able to wrangle in this guy who we had to
use Google Translate. But yeah, he got us all on

(05:33):
a flight that was actually sooner and quicker to Okinawa.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
Oh wow.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yeah, so it it it worked out perfectly.

Speaker 8 (05:41):
He was an airline employee, and he just went above
and beyond to get us situated and straightened out, because
for you know, a good hour there, we thought we
it was folly lost in Tokyo final destination.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
We may or may not have bribed him with some
bolly gear. Yeah, I'm not sure if that actually did
us any favors or maybe worked against us.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
Oh if it worked out though, that's that's great. Yeah wow,
so oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Go ahead.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Oh.

Speaker 8 (06:06):
I was just gonna say, yeah, getting there was definitely difficult,
but it was it was worth all the ache.

Speaker 11 (06:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:13):
Wow, that's a lot of time. I've never even been
a plane, been on a plane for that amount of time.
I can't even imagine.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Yeah, yeah, it was so rough.

Speaker 10 (06:24):
They they obviously supplied us with some beers on the flight,
so that yeah, that helped a little bit. But yeah,
I like I didn't really sleep the night before. Yeah,
and I couldn't sleep on the plane. I have a
hard enough time sleeping as it is, so I just
I stayed up the entire time, and like by the
time we finally stepped foot in Japan, like after all

(06:44):
the flights were done and everything, I just like a
big sigh of relief came and then we took a
cab to the hotel. The front doors to the hotel
were locked and there was a phone number to call,
but our phones weren't working becau because we were in Japan.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (07:02):
Yeah, So like we're just sitting there in the parking lot.
There's no cars in the parking lot. We're like, this
is on far, this is on far and uh. We
wound up knocking on the door and the guy came
and let us in. And the second we all made
it into the hotel room, that's when we did the
big group hug and we were like, guys.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
We made it.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (07:23):
My favorite part about when we first got there. I've
been telling the guys because I used to live in Japan,
oh when I was in the Marines, no kidding, Oh wow,
I knew exactly what to expect from Okinawa as far
as like the heat index and humidity goes. So I'm
telling them like, hey, just so you know, second that
we go all, you're just gonna start sweating. Yeah, it's
just so human. They're like, oh yeah, sure. We stepped
outside and Dane looks at me, He's like this is rough,

(07:46):
Like already I'm already moist, dude.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
It was.

Speaker 10 (07:48):
It was extreme, Like right as we walked out of
the airport, it was like a sauna. Really yeahah no kidding, yeah,
like like comparable to like Florida or or I.

Speaker 8 (08:00):
To Florida as a kid, and it's not comparable because
it's way crazier.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
You feel like you're swimming through the air.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
Wow, no kidding.

Speaker 9 (08:10):
I was like I had to run at six am,
not to he had to morning run.

Speaker 7 (08:15):
Bill running every morning.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
He's dedicated to die.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (08:19):
Wow, wow, that's crazy. So like at any point, did
did any of you feel like, you know, as you're
as you're just getting there, like well maybe this was
a mistake or or did or did you all feel
like no, this is this is worth it.

Speaker 7 (08:33):
Whatever happens is probably the best thing that we ever
did as a group. Like that's cool.

Speaker 8 (08:37):
I agree.

Speaker 10 (08:39):
The only the only little shred of doubt was when
we were almost stranded in Tokyo where it is like
there's no way.

Speaker 8 (08:46):
That was pretty anxiety.

Speaker 7 (08:47):
Maybe maybe Burger Bear too, maybe for a second, Burger Bear.

Speaker 10 (08:51):
If you're listening. I can't say it on the radio,
but we had we had an experience. Well I'm super curious.
I mean to make a long story short. So after
the hotel tobacco, when we finally got to the hotel,
we were like, all right, we we need to go
eat something. We went to this restaurant called Burger Bear,
and the guys all got what they wanted.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
I ordered a grill.

Speaker 10 (09:16):
The only thing they had that I could eat was
a grilled cheese, but I had bacon on it. So
I asked for a grilled cheese, no bacon, and that
threw the man for a loop. He did not understand
what the heck I was talking about. Yeah, He's like,
so you want grilled cheese, no cheese. I'm like, no,
like a grilled cheese, no bacon, like just the cheese.

(09:39):
And he's like, so you want you want grill? I'm
like no, man, So he ended up getting nothing. I
tried explaining it to him to the best of my ability,
and he just wasn't getting it. So I was like,
you know, I'll just I'll have some jamison. Then oh wow,
and yeah, so he quick as a whip, he gave
me two shots of jamison. And they're all sitting there, uh,

(10:02):
eating their food and he comes back and I'm like,
I thought I finally got through to him, like yeah,
like grilled cheese, no cheese, or grilled cheese, no you
It's like, yeah, just just a grilled cheese, nothing but
the cheese. And he like goes back and it's a
big open kitchen. So like we were watching, you know,

(10:22):
the whole process.

Speaker 8 (10:23):
Watching back like three times and start looking.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Yeah yeah or whatever.

Speaker 10 (10:27):
Right right, yeah, So like twenty minutes passes and uh,
I think, Jonah, you were still waiting for your food too, right, Yeah,
So Jonah and I were both waiting for our food
and I'm watching him and like I've worked in kitchens before. Yeah,
everything he was doing, I'm like, guys, he's he's closing
the kitchen like he's no. And then he finally comes
back up and I'm like, hey, man, like I was

(10:48):
just curious, you know, where our food.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Is, and he's like oh.

Speaker 10 (10:54):
No, and right then and there, I'm like, dude, i
I'm good. Like again, I was, oh, I was awake
for more than twenty four hours at that point. Yeah,
It's just like I'm like, dude, I'm fine. And as
we're walking out the door, he runs and gives Jonah
his burger.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
Oh really yeah yeah.

Speaker 10 (11:12):
But then he's like, I can still make you your
girl cheese. I'm like, dude, just yeah, don't even bother.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
We're yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Wow.

Speaker 10 (11:19):
So he gave Jonah his burger and like, well Jonah
was paying and whatnot. We went outside and this was
like maybe a three minute walk from the hotel. Yeah,
it started monsooning. Oh wow, and I burst out laughing,
like it's just like a little i don't know, mental
breakdown laughter. After the chain of events, I'm like, there's

(11:43):
no way this is real life right now.

Speaker 12 (11:44):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
And yeah.

Speaker 10 (11:47):
So like we walked back in. Jonah's all happy with
his burger and I'm just like so over it. So
I'm like, we're taking the cab. We're gonna go to
seven eleven. I'm gonna find something to eat there.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (11:58):
I ate so many rice balls when we were in
Japan really yeah. Yeah, the first two or three days,
I probably ate like twenty or thirty of them.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (12:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (12:08):
It was bad because like there's seven eleven Lassons and
Family Mart okay.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
And they're like literally everywhere.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (12:16):
So when we were walking around just like checking out Japan,
every single one we'd pass, I'd be like, guys, I
need to go in there for a second.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Yeah, rice ball, I'm low on rice ball.

Speaker 10 (12:25):
Yeah yeah yeah, so I survived off rice Like the
three of them have never seen me eat so much.

Speaker 7 (12:30):
Really, Yeah, he was expecting because he's eating for two Yeah.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
Wow. Yeah, I'm curious, Jonah, what is a a burger
like in Japan?

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (12:43):
I mean?

Speaker 7 (12:44):
Is it?

Speaker 5 (12:44):
Is it same as your Yeah?

Speaker 9 (12:47):
It was actually really good. It was the closest and
most open option when we were finally looking for foods. Yeah,
it wasn't like we went there looking for burger right right.

Speaker 5 (12:59):
Yeah that was great. Yeah yeah, yeah, oh that's good.
That's good. So so after that, so did you play
that night? Was the show that night that you played?

Speaker 10 (13:10):
No, so the show was actually the last night that
we were in Japan?

Speaker 5 (13:14):
Oh how many? How many nights were you there?

Speaker 10 (13:16):
We were there from August third to August tenth?

Speaker 5 (13:18):
Oh I didn't realize that long? Oh wow, oh my god.

Speaker 8 (13:21):
It wasn't long enough Yeah.

Speaker 9 (13:23):
Definitely for a vacation, long for a band.

Speaker 7 (13:26):
Yeah, it really was a vacation disguised as a show.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
Yeah yeah yeah, oh wow, So what I mean, what
what else about the experience, like, because it sounds like
you had a good time, right, I mean after the
initial uh.

Speaker 10 (13:41):
We had an absolute blast. Yeah, there were there were
a few gnomi kais, which is a it's a business
drinking party.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Yeah, okay, so haunted.

Speaker 10 (13:51):
Yeah, so we uh we had a little balcony and
like Cody and I, we wound up getting like a
bunch of drinks from seven to elive, far too many drinks,
any drinks, the high balls or what did it?

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yeah? High ball no j two.

Speaker 10 (14:07):
But we uh we went out on the balcony and
we were just like I mean, you know, drunk went
in Japan. We were slicking them back and uh yeah,
just watching all the bats fly around and everything are
so huge.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Really yeah, it was beautiful, beautiful.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
I don't know. That was scared of me.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
All yeah for real.

Speaker 8 (14:29):
Yeah yeah, the size like a bald eagle.

Speaker 5 (14:33):
Yeah really yeah, that would terrify me.

Speaker 8 (14:35):
It's flying by, and it scared me for sure.

Speaker 7 (14:37):
I thought it was gonna pick me up and take
me away at one point.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
Yeah, oh my god. Wow.

Speaker 8 (14:42):
Well, other than you know, beers burgers and bats, we
did other stuff too. We got haunted, Yeah, we got
we got followed by any demon, a possible woman of
the night that we also thought might be a demon lady,
a Yokai yokai Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
Okay, demon lady.

Speaker 8 (15:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (15:03):
So, so we were we were in this store by
the beach, and she came up to me and started
speaking Japanese and I was like, I I'm sorry, I
don't speak Japanese. Yeah, and I tried like breaking out
Google Translate, and she like she looked, why does it
go like this? Something about her appearance was so like spooky, yeah,

(15:25):
and she had bandages all over her arms and everything,
and she just like kept following me.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Yeah, and like I found them in the store. I'm like, guys,
like I need an adults. I need an adult.

Speaker 10 (15:35):
And so like we leave the store and she's following us,
and there's this big stretch along the beach and like
beautiful sea walls, beautiful sea walls.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
We uh.

Speaker 10 (15:48):
So we were walking down the strip and like we'd
bang a right and go towards the benches, and then
she'd do the same thing. And I kept looking back
just because like I I'm a paranoid guy.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
I guess some agree.

Speaker 10 (16:00):
And I kept looking back and I'm like guys, she's
still there, and they're like, stop looking back. I'm like
I can't, like you feel like somebody's watching you. Yeah,
see if somebody's watching you?

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Yeah yeah and yeah.

Speaker 10 (16:11):
So like for a good ten minutes, like we'd be
walking and then we'd stop walking and she'd stop walking
and just stare at us. Really yeah, and then she
she came up to us and was asking about a
phone charger and then asking if we wanted to spend time.
We're like no, like, we're good, and we kept walking

(16:35):
and walking, and like finally, like I remember looking back
and seeing her turn around and walk the other way, okay,
and I'm like, guys, sigh of relief, Like yeah, we're
not We're not being followed by the demon anymore.

Speaker 5 (16:45):
Wow.

Speaker 10 (16:47):
So we finally get to the beach and we we
all walk onto the beach and we're laughing about it.
We're like, dude, watch she's gonna show up. And then
Cody's like I believe it was. Cody's like, guys, and
we all turn around. She comes out from behind a
tree and.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
Is just, honest to God, there's no possible way she
could have beat us to the beach because she started
walking the other way.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Yeah, to have teleported, there's no wow. Yeah yeah.

Speaker 8 (17:13):
And she had like a big straw hat too, and
they almost.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
Like yeah you know.

Speaker 10 (17:18):
And then uh, Cody and I went off to go
grab a beer and Joanan Dane were on the beach
and I guess uh.

Speaker 9 (17:26):
A couple of ladies prayed.

Speaker 8 (17:28):
Yes, we got, we got praised really.

Speaker 9 (17:29):
And then we didn't see her again, so we figured.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Yeah we got.

Speaker 8 (17:32):
Yeah, we had like a prayer force field by some
lady shamans.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (17:38):
The timing of it was just so weird because like
right as we walked away, Cody and I were still
freaking out. We're like, dude, like, she's here, she's.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
Coming going to be submerged the water, just like her
eyes showing, expecting to see her in my in my
nightmares that night.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
Yeah yeah, and.

Speaker 10 (17:53):
Then we come we come back and they're like, dude,
like people just came up to us and asked if
they could pray for us.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
Yeah, wow, that's incredible.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Ye.

Speaker 5 (18:05):
So so the show that you play that it was
on the last night that you were there.

Speaker 8 (18:08):
Yeah yeah, yeah, because we left the next morning after
the show.

Speaker 7 (18:12):
Okay, okay, and how did that go? It was a killer,
probably one of our best shows that we played. The
sound engineer that was there, he really had everything down
to a science as far as like, you know, how
he wanted to make up every instrument and every you know,
part of the drum kit. I mean, yeah, I don't
think I've had a better experience as far as like

(18:32):
being able to hear everything that was going on. You know,
you know someone that's up there right next to a
bass amplifier. You know, sometimes I can't hear, yeah, you know,
the whole ensemble doing their thing. But I mean I
was like feeling it. You know, there there's a packed show.
I mean, everyone was happy to see us. You know,
big bold volley from the USA, you know on the

(18:54):
bill outside.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
It's like that. It felt cool.

Speaker 10 (18:58):
It was it was surreal, like just you know, we
came from halfway around the world. We didn't expect you know,
we didn't expect a big turnout. We were kind of
just doing it to be like, yeah we did that. Yeah,
but there there were so many people there, and like
Cody was saying, the sound was immaculate. Yeah, and just

(19:18):
everybody in the crowd, like a fraction of them, I'm
sure didn't quite understand what we were saying. Sure, but
it just everything about it went spectacular. And uh, I
was Facebook live streaming it the second we started playing.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
My phone fell.

Speaker 10 (19:34):
Oh no, but Cody's friend actually picked up my phone
and held my phone for the whole show. Okay, So
then I ripped the audio from that and we put
a live album up on our Spotify, on Spotify, iTunes,
all the other streaming services. Oh wow, Yeah, it's a
volley live from Okinoa.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
That's so cool. Yeah, oh, it's very cool. That's very cool.

Speaker 7 (19:55):
Shout out to a first start heating for holding the
phone for the entire show.

Speaker 10 (20:00):
Yeah, thanks you very much. I'm I'm certain you're listening
right now.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
I'm sure he is.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
Wow. Did you see the demon lady in the crowd?
That would have been that would have I.

Speaker 8 (20:10):
Had thought of that, Like, if she shows up at
our show, I'm gonna lose it.

Speaker 5 (20:13):
That would have been the chair on the top of that,
wouldn't it.

Speaker 10 (20:16):
We were We were so paranoid for the rest of
the trip, just like I'd go to the bathroom and
like feel a presence and I'm like no way.

Speaker 7 (20:26):
I'd like woken up in the middle of the night
that night when we first saw her, and I'm laying
in bed, I have to go to the bathroom, and
it's like I'm just laying their face in the walls.
Like if I turn around, she's going to be right there.
If I turned the corner, she's going to be in
the dark corner waiting for me to set my guard down.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
Made a bathroom buddy.

Speaker 8 (20:43):
This story doesn't describe it very well, but we were.
We were all pretty shook. Yeah, really yeah, yeah, like
the whole way it transpired.

Speaker 10 (20:51):
First the first minute or two, like we it was spooky,
but we were kind of laughing about it. Yeah, and
then as time went on, we're like, no, like we're
being followed.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Wow, Yeah, I.

Speaker 9 (21:01):
Knew I wasn't going to see her again because we
got clear. Yeah I was not.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Guy Tody and Hires still hosed on it.

Speaker 8 (21:12):
But there actually is like a Japanese urban legend regarding
like a wailing woman who follows people and stuff just
like actual like you know.

Speaker 7 (21:21):
That on her arms or something and it and it
can you know, haunt you or something actual story behind it,
But it is like eerily similar to an actual like
folk tale about you know, a demon lady. So it's like,
I think we got lucky and we we escaped with
our lives. Yeah, yeah, good story.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
Wow. And and that's called a yokai ka.

Speaker 7 (21:44):
I think I forget the exact translation, but I think
yokai means demon and on means like a ghost. Okay, Okay,
I think don't quote me on that one.

Speaker 5 (21:53):
Yeah. So Cody, you were you had been there before
when you were in the military.

Speaker 7 (21:57):
Yes, I lived in Okinawa for about two years, okay,
So it's like blasts from the past. Like I kind
of knew what to expect as far as like the
weather goes, like the monsoon he mentioned earlier. I'm like,
don't worry, dude, it's gonna be done in like fifteen minutes.
Like smoke a button, hang out. Yeah, so you know
your way around there obviously for the most part, I
kind of knew like roughly where to go. But we
were like right smack dab in the center of the island. Yeah,

(22:18):
I was stationed. It was up towards like the northern half,
so it was I kind of knew like the main
area of you know, the city that we were in.
But yeah, the more hole in the wall spots and
like the back roads. I was like, this is a
new experience for me too, So it was it was
great that way as well.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
Yeah yeah, but it must have been good for all
of you that you know that you had experience.

Speaker 7 (22:39):
Yeah, and I came oh yeah. I kind of described
it to them as like Japan lights. Okay, so it's
like you're there. It's kind of americanized because there's so
many US military bases there. Yeah, so it's like it's
easier than going to Tokyo, for example, where it's like
they may see American tourists but no one, you know,
is like dealing with Americans constantly, right, at least in Okinawa,

(23:04):
like they they kind of know what to expect from us,
and they can answer some of our questions. They might
know a little bit more English than Mainlanders might.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
Yeah, no, that makes sense. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (23:15):
It definitely had more of a laid back vibe.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Oh yeah. Everybody there was so polite and like accommodating
and welcoming.

Speaker 9 (23:22):
It's where they go on vacation, right, So I like that.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
We were like yeah, yeah, you know, just knocking Yeah.

Speaker 10 (23:31):
Yeah, yeah. We got by knowing like three or four
words in Japanese. Yeah, and then what what was the
trip home?

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Like?

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Was that.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Was it really?

Speaker 5 (23:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (23:50):
Everything went smooth, way longer.

Speaker 10 (23:52):
It went smooth. It was just so we flew from
Okinawa to South Korea. We had a six hour layover
in South Korea.

Speaker 9 (24:03):
Oh wow, great airport though, great airport.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Yeah, terrible, but a great airport.

Speaker 9 (24:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (24:09):
So we had the six hour layover there, then the
twelve hour flight from South Korea to San Francisco. So
we left on the tenth at like I want to say,
uh say, like three pm. Just we arrived in San
Francisco at three pm on the tenth so.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Like, oh yeah, it was it's like we hit pause.

Speaker 10 (24:32):
Yeah, it was so trippy and like I just remember
when we got to San Francisco. I was like, I've
never been so happy to be in America in my life.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (24:43):
I think our plane got diverted too, so we went
to a different airport than we were supposed to in
San Francisco or something a late but yeah, so we.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Were just late.

Speaker 10 (24:52):
But like there was so much turbulence on the flight too,
and like we were all fried.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
Like it it was a long week.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, is.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
There thirteen hours ahead? Yes, right, yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (25:05):
So like we we were already like dealing with the
time difference in the jet lag and just a long
week of you know, going out and galvanting and being goofballs.

Speaker 7 (25:14):
Yep, and it's not the best when it comes to
confidence in flying.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
Oh really yeah, I got anxiety.

Speaker 7 (25:22):
We got seated in the back of the plane and
he's like, oh, it's gonna be shaky. I'm like lying
through my teeth to him, like, oh no, it's the
back of the plane. There's wings right there.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
We're gonna be fine, right right, lies lies. It was
like we were getting shook.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
Oh really yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (25:36):
It was pretty bad at some points. And then Cody
and me wound up just like we were standing pretending
like we had to use the bathroom just so we
could stand up trick.

Speaker 8 (25:45):
Yeah, you get like three or four minutes out of them.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
Yeah for you.

Speaker 10 (25:49):
Yeah, And we uh, we would just like anytime someone
would walk up to use the bathroom, we just play
mister polite and we're like, no, you go first.

Speaker 5 (25:56):
Oh okay, yeah, yeah, that's funny.

Speaker 7 (25:59):
Can't stand to be in this seat to position anymore,
Please go ahead of me.

Speaker 8 (26:02):
Yeah, well, I'm definitely attle bit of a bigger guy.
But they do not make airplane seats very large.

Speaker 5 (26:07):
No, sure, no they don't. That's true.

Speaker 8 (26:10):
To buy t next time. Yeah, body.

Speaker 5 (26:13):
So then so then you flew from what you flew
from San Francisco to here, San brand of Boston to Boston.
Ye gotcha.

Speaker 10 (26:20):
And then again I was like, I've never been so
happy to be in Massachusetts in my entire life.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (26:26):
My fiance picked us up and she had whole milk
for Jonah and peanut butter and jellies for us.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (26:32):
Yeah, the mom and Moore made a bunch of snacks
for us, which was cool.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
From shout out to Cody's mom.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
Oh that's cool, thanks mom.

Speaker 7 (26:40):
I know you're not listening to.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
So yeah outstanding. Wow wow. So you guys are gonna
go back some day, do you think?

Speaker 10 (26:47):
Or I'd love to go back at some point every day? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
we talked about it a lot. It's uh, you know,
it's expensive. The flight is very taxing on the body.
Like like Dane said, it's not for the faint of heart.

Speaker 8 (27:02):
No, but it definitely isn't.

Speaker 10 (27:04):
I would love to go back. I would just love
to one stay there a little bit longer than a week. Yeah,
to maybe fly to San Francisco and then spend a
couple of days in San Francisco or like a day
or two and then fly to Tokyo and then fly
to Okinawa.

Speaker 8 (27:21):
That means we have to book a show in San
Fran then.

Speaker 7 (27:23):
Yeah, yeah, if you're from San Fran and you want
to book.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Us, let us know.

Speaker 5 (27:27):
Yeah, there you go. I want to go.

Speaker 9 (27:29):
I want to go back to South Korea.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Yeah too.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (27:33):
So we had these big, grandiose plans of uh, we
were going to leave the airport, go to the DMZ,
take a band picture at the DMZ.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
That would yeah, it would have been cool. But like
we just we didn't really.

Speaker 10 (27:44):
Plan the logistics of it of like having to leave
the airport, then go back through customs yep, having to
convert currency, like make sure we get there safely.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Yeah, it's so on and so forth.

Speaker 10 (27:55):
So like it was a starry eyed idea, but when
we got to the airport, we're like, yeah, guys, we can't,
we cannot do this.

Speaker 7 (28:03):
We found like the nearest uh somewhat comfortable looking couch
and just kind of crashed.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
There was and they had they had those spinny chairs
like the Weebl's wall. They don't fall down chairs.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (28:17):
Yeah, Dane was trying to convince Cody to go in
and easily. Dude, it's easy. You just gotta lean with it.
And he like the way he swung his voice made
it so much funnier. But the second he went, like
his head was at the back of the chair.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
Oh he felt these guys anywhere it fly.

Speaker 10 (28:40):
It flung him right out of the chair and like
I was laughing so hard, I was crying. Yeah, like,
oh my god, I felt so bad for him, just
because like nobody wants to fall in public, of course, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (28:53):
People who are trying to like chill out, and you
know this big over here.

Speaker 10 (28:58):
It was it was meant for kids, like right right,
So there was a family with their kiddo and like
they were just having this cute little moment and here
we are for goofballs.

Speaker 5 (29:07):
Just so when that, when that happens, are they kind
of looking at you? Like Americans a little bit?

Speaker 7 (29:13):
I think I feel like they were looking at us
like that, like in Japan. Yeah, we were in like
Asia in general, like we're just getting looked at that
way because.

Speaker 9 (29:22):
They loved Dane.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (29:27):
I so like when we were on the beach, there
was a little kid who walked up to Dane and
he just like looks up at him with a huge
smile and eyes.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
He's like, yeah, that's awesome.

Speaker 9 (29:40):
Yeah, and Dane made his amateur sumo debut.

Speaker 8 (29:45):
Yeah that's correct.

Speaker 5 (29:46):
Oh I got to hear about this. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (29:49):
Well yeah, we ended up one night. We went to uh,
like a street, like a main street with a bunch
of shops and stuff called CCOO Side Dory and we
got dropped off in the taxi and I don't know,
I think we're walking for a couple of minutes and
we stumble upon this street performer sumo guy and immediately
everyone's like they're good in there.

Speaker 12 (30:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (30:09):
The second that we saw the he had a sign
saying like sumo wrestle me basically, and we all looked
at Dane and he just got a big smile, looks
at us, and he's like, I.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Know what I have to do?

Speaker 8 (30:22):
Oh wow, Yeah I got spanked.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Yeah, yeah, he got bodied. It was it was maybe
he pulled.

Speaker 8 (30:29):
Like a move and uh, you know, we clashed. We clashed,
which was good. Yeah, and then I kind of went
at him and he kind of dodged out of the way.
My nose went right into his like shoulder bone.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you got du oh wow.

Speaker 7 (30:42):
I can't see him grab the diaper and flip him.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
But he just was one.

Speaker 9 (30:46):
Yeah, you either start one and oh and oh and
one though.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Yeah, yeah, you're still on the board.

Speaker 7 (30:54):
You're still sumo wrestling in Japan like that's that's a
an accomplishment right there.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
It is.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Yeah, you gotta throw a dart to hit a bulls,
you know.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
That's right, that's right, that's right. Oh wow, that's cool.
That's wild. Well, do you guys want to play another
you want to play another track? We got we got
a couple others we gotta I'll let you pick. We
got a Parabolic and don't remain which would which should
we play next? And then we'll save the other one
for the.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
End of the That's that's up to Jonah.

Speaker 5 (31:21):
Parabolic. Anything we should know about this before we play it?

Speaker 7 (31:25):
It slaps?

Speaker 10 (31:26):
Yeah, all right, it's a it's a good song, and
you know it's a good song because we wrote it.

Speaker 5 (31:30):
There you go, here, you go, all right, here it
is this is Parabolic. The band is Volley.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Somebody songs, couping doctors, never a love polish love with

(32:02):
something inside. He spilled my soul without the sun, producing
the throuble replacing the hawk and.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
The pickle fool.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
There is nothing that met.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Nothing back to blads plainly, I did feeling like to waste,
to balk the chain. There is nothing blacken to me,
nothing back to lads plainly, I can feeling like, go wait.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
You boxord chin girl.

Speaker 5 (32:35):
Anyway, I played the wrong song, still good, still good.
But now we're gonna play parabolic by here it is.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
You're gonna win Umbo shir Head and.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Made all love the Yoshi.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
You're gonna break that.

Speaker 12 (33:13):
I don't pump the crown I chose, I ain't um.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Be sure head, I'm being a superstition.

Speaker 12 (33:20):
Lay sixteen under the cock ground Sarah Ballad, he yawning,
probably gone con so come and I can't boys times.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
And they all broken down, And son As said, whatever

(33:53):

Speaker 3 (33:56):
The bread it in stage.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
When you say bed sound, you mean.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
A hey, you're beating too.

Speaker 12 (34:01):
Submission Glady sixteen under ground.

Speaker 11 (34:07):
That candy probably grown prone down and city.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
There we go.

Speaker 5 (34:43):
That is parabolic. The band is Volley and we've got
the guys from Volley here with us live in studio.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
Hello, Hello, Hello, So dad, what.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
Have you guys been?

Speaker 4 (34:58):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (34:58):
So, what have you been doing since you're your return
from Japan? Have you been playing a lot of shows
or what's what's kind of been?

Speaker 7 (35:03):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (35:04):
Yeah, yeah, so it's been a it's been a pretty
busy few months. We've been playing a lot of shows.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (35:10):
We're talking about starting to record again. Okay, we have
a we have about five or six songs that are
in the hat that we want to we want to
press the wax okay to speak, Yeah, yes, which realistically
we're gonna put it on a CD.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
And yeah the VHS but VHS tapes, Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 9 (35:34):
If you're not going to the art show we're playing
in Nashua tonight.

Speaker 5 (35:37):
Oh yeah yeah yeah, yeah we should mention that.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Yeah, we gotta plug that.

Speaker 10 (35:41):
So at Terminus Underground New Yeah.

Speaker 5 (35:45):
We had Eleanor was with us last week.

Speaker 10 (35:47):
Yeah we love Eleanor and ye yeah so Terminus Underground
it is one thirty four Haines Street in nash New Hampshire.
I believe that's the address. Yes, I'm not Magellan, So
he's really bad at geology. I'm no cartographer. So the

(36:08):
doors are at seven, music starts at eight. It's a
fifteen bucks for regular ticket, twenty bucks for a VI
I pizza ticket. Okay, to hang out with us, yeah,
in case you want to hang out with us, which
I don't know, maybe you do, maybe you don't. We
all smell collectively, Okay, Jonas sniffs himself. So we are

(36:29):
going to be playing with P in public. We we
can't say their name on the radio.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
But yeah, it's actually so it's it's it's another word
that starts with P.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (36:38):
But is this about that?

Speaker 3 (36:40):
You can you can fill in the right close in public? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 10 (36:45):
There's there's three more letters that follow after P.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Yeah. But uh uh what KIA, W K E A H.

Speaker 10 (36:53):
I'm sorry if we're mispronouncing that, or if it's an
acronym that we ask them, yeah, yeah, or you could
ask them tonight in person if you come to Terminus Underground.

Speaker 5 (37:03):
There you go.

Speaker 10 (37:04):
And then we are also playing with first pick and
then uh, well we're we're volleys, so we're playing it too.
But you should definitely come on out. It's gonna be
a heck of a time. It's a beautiful little spot.
And yeah, it's curated very nicely. It's a very fun, safe,
wholesome place for music and art to trade. It has fire,

(37:26):
it has it has like very cool, almost spooky living
room vibes. But it's a it's a big old room
that you can thrash about in. It's a it's gonna
be a good time.

Speaker 7 (37:37):
Then there's ample parking. You know, nothing to worry about
as far as finding a spot to ample. Ample parking
day or night, people shouting howdy neighbor.

Speaker 9 (37:46):
Hey sup supple parking.

Speaker 8 (37:51):
If you want to get your tickets online, you can
go to New Hampshire Underground dot org and get your
tickets there.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Good job, Dane.

Speaker 5 (37:58):
Yeah, I tell everyone the same thing. Like the first
time you're walk into that room, it's like you're walking
into a different world. It's so cool. Yeah, there's a.

Speaker 8 (38:06):
Lot of work into it.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
Yeah cool.

Speaker 10 (38:07):
And we actually practice in the same building. We're literally
across Yeah, we're across the hall, so we don't have
much of a commute.

Speaker 5 (38:14):
Oh wow, that's nice.

Speaker 8 (38:16):
Yeah, we scored a room there maybe like three or
four months ago. Our old spot on Vine Street got flooded.
Oh no, really, we were talking about carpentry and stuff
last time. We were building our room and but it
ended up getting flooded, which is pretty bad.

Speaker 5 (38:32):
Oh wow.

Speaker 6 (38:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (38:33):
So we built our practice space and we were building
a bunch of other rooms too, and it was really cool,
like it made it feel that much more home just
because we built it.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (38:43):
We we drew all over the walls and hung all
our artwork and one not on it. But it, uh,
it started getting moldy down there, like if you yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (38:54):
So like we would practice and then after practice we'd
leave and we would all smell musty.

Speaker 5 (38:59):
Oh wow.

Speaker 10 (39:00):
Yeah it was rough and then like yeah it was
it was before it was before a show. I think
it was either Dane or Cody that texted the group
chat and they're like, hey guys, like, uh, the practice
space is flooded and we were all on our way
to go pick up gear for a show, so like,
are you serious? Right now we get in, the entire

(39:22):
carpet is sopping wet. Luckily it didn't damage any of
our gear. I think that's get messed up, like Cody's gigbag.

Speaker 7 (39:30):
But yeah, falling falling off together and there but he
took one for the team.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (39:36):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (39:36):
Luckily we had like multiple layers of carpeting, so it
sopped up most of it. Yeah yeah, no, but I
think we lost, uh lost my gig bag and my microwave.

Speaker 3 (39:46):
Oh wow, no, yeah, the microwave.

Speaker 8 (39:49):
We had little kitchen. It was nice, Yeah, Britos and
ramen and yeah, yeah.

Speaker 10 (39:56):
Left we left the mini fridge there too. I'm still
upset about that.

Speaker 7 (39:59):
That was pure laziness.

Speaker 5 (40:00):
I just did. So what was it a basement space?

Speaker 3 (40:05):
Yeah it was.

Speaker 10 (40:07):
It was in the basement of a mill building. Yeah,
and we actually we used to rent a room on
the second floor. Yeah really yeah, so you figure we
would have learned, but so we shared it with a
few other bands, and uh, there was there were several
things that just we weren't really digging about that room.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
Yeah, gear theft, oh really.

Speaker 10 (40:33):
Yeah, so we were dealing with, like, you know, some
of our stuff going missing and oh wow, because there
were like four other bands that practiced in that room.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
It was a giant room.

Speaker 10 (40:42):
And finally, like one day before a show, wet we
were missing the cable for our pay and we were
providing the PA for the show. So we were like
that's the last straw, Like we're done, and we moved
out that day. The next day there was a massive
flood and like we we were grabbing like the last

(41:03):
of our odds and ends. And I saw the dudes
from one of the other bands like that were cool with,
like yeah, they weren't the ones taking stuff from us,
and they're like, did did you guys see the ceiling?
And I'm like, oh no, like we we got everything
out and uh I walk in it's literally like a waterfall.
Oh my god, exactly where my guitar cab was, his

(41:25):
bass cab was, our pa was yeah.

Speaker 5 (41:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (41:30):
So I literally was like, we are the luckiest.

Speaker 8 (41:34):
I know in a way.

Speaker 5 (41:34):
In a way, you're lucky somebody stole from you because
that caused you to leave just some time.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (41:40):
Yeah, sometimes sometimes that works out for the best.

Speaker 9 (41:44):
Daddy.

Speaker 5 (41:46):
Yeah, oh that's crazy. Wow. No, but that's cool that
you're in the space that you're in now, right right
in the building there. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (41:54):
Yeah, it's it's it's a little bit smaller than the
past couple of spaces that we've had.

Speaker 8 (42:00):
Safe and secure, and they have bathrooms and it's dry and.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
Dry. That is objectively. My favorite thing about it is
that it's dry.

Speaker 5 (42:10):
Yes, yes.

Speaker 7 (42:11):
What they don't tell you is that you know it's
called it was a mill building that we were before,
but it's actually short for mildew.

Speaker 5 (42:16):
There you go and bring them that stuff in over time.
It's really bad for you as yeah.

Speaker 7 (42:22):
Yeah, infection and yeah, everything else that goes along with
it was definitely on the cusp of happening, I'm sure,
so it was it was time, yeah, good to get
out of it.

Speaker 8 (42:32):
We got pretty lucky securing the room at New Hampshire
Underground for sure. That kind of came to be.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
I was.

Speaker 8 (42:41):
I was helping out Cody Pope and the keyholders nice
so and we were practicing there with Axel because he's
an honorary key member keyholder, ye, key member of the Keyholders.
And then just you know, being there and talking to
Andre and getting the right people to call and stuff,
and I'm getting at least over there, so excellent. We're
pretty lucky.

Speaker 5 (43:02):
Yeah that's great, Yeah, very very cool. So uh no,
so you've got the show tonight and then what what
else you have, Like you have a lot of shows
coming up or what are you there's a lot of bands.
You know, as we get into the winter, they kind
of going to hibernation or focusing and recording.

Speaker 10 (43:17):
We want to focus on writing and recording. We have
December second at O'Brien's. Oh nice, I think that's all
we have right now.

Speaker 8 (43:27):
Yeah, right, I believe so.

Speaker 5 (43:29):
Yeah, that's a good place to play though.

Speaker 10 (43:31):
Yeah, so it's a it's going to be a Tuesday,
So we're a little curious how that's going to turn out.
But we're still we're still so grateful every chance we
get to play, Like there are a lot there are
a lot of musicians out there that have spectacular talent
but don't get the opportunities that we get, right, you know,
if we play to a room of just the bands

(43:52):
and maybe two people, or a room of fifty people,
we're all still so very grateful that we get to
make the silly little dream of ours come true. Oh yeah, yeah,
it just it makes me so happy to be able
to create, especially with my brothers, Like, yeah, I love
these guys.

Speaker 8 (44:09):
Yeah, I love you bro Yeah yeah right. And then
it's important too, if there's one person or one hundred
people there is to keep that energy level high regardless.

Speaker 5 (44:17):
Oh absolutely, yeah, that's kind.

Speaker 8 (44:19):
Of our thing.

Speaker 10 (44:20):
Yeah, I'm bouncing off the walls regardless of how many
people are there.

Speaker 5 (44:24):
Yeah, yeah, that's good. That's good, excellent, excellent. Where should
people go online to keep up with everything you guys
are doing. Where's the best place to go?

Speaker 10 (44:32):
So we are on Facebook, it's a Facebook dot com
slash Volley sixty sixty six because we're edgy.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
Yeah, the Instagram, and.

Speaker 5 (44:42):
That's why that demon lady was following.

Speaker 3 (44:44):
It's it Matt, that Galaxy brain.

Speaker 5 (44:47):
That's why.

Speaker 7 (44:48):
Yeah, you brought it on yourselves, put the energy out there.

Speaker 10 (44:51):
I feel like I bring a lot of things on myself.
But uh so on Instagram we are also Volley sixty
sixty six. You can reach out to us at Volley
sixty six six at gmail dot com for booking inquiries. Uh,
we're on all the streaming platforms, and our band camp
is also you're never gonna believe this, Folly six six.

(45:15):
We prefer if you're going to, you know, buy any
of our music or whatnot, you do it through band
camp because the artists get paid better that way. Not
that we're in it for the money, but if there's
money being made, you know, we we'd like to. We'd
like to make a little bit.

Speaker 5 (45:32):
Yeah, to help.

Speaker 9 (45:33):
You know, the merch is on there.

Speaker 3 (45:35):
Yeah, yeah, we we have merch on there. We uh,
we need to do another merch run.

Speaker 9 (45:40):
But yeah, d I why we make them?

Speaker 3 (45:44):
Yeah we we.

Speaker 10 (45:47):
We screen print all our shirts, we handpress all our
CDs cassettes, so.

Speaker 7 (45:53):
There's no automation to it. It's all just with our
own hands.

Speaker 3 (45:56):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 7 (45:57):
It's it's more meaningful that way, you know, and it's
it's a blast to make it. So yeah, you know,
it's never a dull moment when we're making merch or
making music.

Speaker 5 (46:04):
Let's go.

Speaker 9 (46:05):
Yeah, hair drying, hair drying, a little assembly line.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
Yeah, jobs, jobs in the assembly line.

Speaker 7 (46:13):
We make it happen.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
Busy little worker bees school, you guys, see you guys.

Speaker 5 (46:16):

But yeah, that's cool.

Speaker 3 (46:19):
Though.

Speaker 9 (46:20):
I was I was speed dubbing cassettes in my friend's
basement while I was lifting and dog sitting. Really yeah,
any one would go through and I just put the
next one.

Speaker 5 (46:32):

and I was very honored to be able to do that.

Speaker 5 (47:03):

Speaker 6 (47:03):

my like darkest paintings, which is really interesting to see altogether.
