We're glad you're here and we're goingto have a fun filled action back
(03:00):
hour. We've got a couple ofvery nice ladies here, Gigie Hannah,
who's the director of Habitat for Humanitysam Breddino and the Samardino Area, the
Greater Samardino Area. And then wealso have Ferial Wind. Ferial Wind is
just a person I just met justa few minutes ago and she is over
the moon with excitement. She isnow the new one of the new operators
(03:24):
of the Arrowhead Country Club in samBardino. And welcome Ferreal, Thank you
and We've had a lot of totalk about, not just golfing or building
houses, but things that are goingon in Habitat for Humanity, which has
had a big adjustment in recent times. Some of you may be familiar with
(03:44):
their restore and the restore is temporarilysuspended right now and uh, well,
let's put it that way, andthey're not operating it right now. They
hope to be operating again soon. And then we have, you know,
lots of things going on. Theyjust last month had a nice fundraiser at
Escape Brewery in Redlands. It wasquite quite fun, a great fundraiser for
(04:09):
Habitat. They are building seven newhomes in the county Sambardino city alone this
year. That's their goal. They'reraising money for that. They've got a
lot of stuff going on, andthey also have a program that Gig is
going to talk about. Gigi Hannah, of course you might know that name.
She's a former city clerk for thecity of Sambreddino back in the day.
(04:31):
And after she retired from that jobin that position, she moved out
of town for a while and thenshe left her heart in San Ardino.
Like Tony Bennett, she left herheart in San Bernardino well or something.
Maybe she left her cat or something. I don't know, and she's back
(04:56):
and we're glad she's back because she'san incredible lady and she is a force
to be reckoned with, as Ithink Ferial is as well. So I'm
want to talk about the country clubhere in a few minutes, but let's
first of all talk about this programthat you brought to me, and that's
why we're on the air today inthe first place, as a program that
people can apply for. Yes,so we are building seven houses and four
(05:18):
of those houses are we sought federalfunding for, and it's four veterans,
so people who are qualified, theydon't have to be career they just have
to be honorably discharged living in SanBernardino County right now with housing that is
too expensive, too small, nothigh enough quality. And so we are
(05:43):
looking for applicants for those four homesthat will be built later this year,
and we kick off our application periodMay first, and it's just the month
of May, and what we'll dois we'll be getting applications in and reviewing
them for those four homes. Howwonderful that is. We're having some information
(06:04):
sessions throughout the throughout the month, and if you want to find out and
uh sign up for one, youcan go to our website at habitat SB.
SB is in San Erardino, dotorg, habitat SB that's the way
it sounds, dot org and justreally quickly, basically, people sometimes believe
that we're we're building houses and givingthem away, and we don't. We
(06:26):
build them and we sell them topeople at cost and those zero interest loans.
So basically what it ends up happeningis your mortgage payment is way low
because you're not paying interest on it. So five six hundred bucks a month.
It allows people to build equity,um and security, stability and so
much needed. You know, there'sa there's a KEL loan program that just
(06:48):
it blossomed about thirty days ago.Yes, and you know the program,
Yes, and I think it waslike two hundred and thirty million dollars.
They paid twenty percent down of yourhouse. You'd have to pay that back
if you sold the house. Hehad to keep the house for several years,
right, But it was a greatprogram, a great, great incentive.
Obviously it is because the money's allgone, it's all used up all
(07:09):
spoken for, you know, justthat quick. They estimate that the need
for housing in California, the shortageof housing is a million houses too few
than what they need, and especiallystarter homes. And that's what we're building,
you know, something about fourteen hundredsquare feet that's affordable. We tell
people we're not building your dream home, but we'll build you your first home,
(07:29):
you know, And that's that's kindof what we do. And I
just really quickly there is more informationabout how to qualify. Basically, you
have to make about eighty percent orlower of the area median income. So
for a household of four, thatwould be about seventy thousand dollars. And
so so we are you know,we don't give a hand out, we
give a hand up, and weare looking for four families to put in
(07:51):
these houses. So that's why I'mhere today is to talk about that.
And that's also why we're going tobe at the Arrowhead Country Club on May
six doing a fundraiser towards this towardsthis build, which is wonderful. And
we'll get to the Arrowhead Country Clubhere and the fundraiser is May sixth.
(08:11):
It is May sixth. I thoughtit was May ninth. It's May sixth,
and what tell me about the fundraiser. Describe the fundraiser to me.
So we decided we were going todo a handful of smaller fundraisers this year,
not like a huge gale, ofthings that were more approachable. And
so, as you mentioned, wehad a fundraiser a few weeks ago and
it was an NCAA watch party, and we had so much fun. We
(08:35):
had so much fun we decided todo a Kentucky Derby watch party at the
Arrowhead Country Club. And so,you know, they say that's the most
exciting two minutes in sports. Wewere talking about that, and of course
Frank in the engineering room over there, our engineer, our sound engineer is
gonna he's got a photo booth Kioski'sgonna do, which is great, Thank
(08:56):
you Frank. That'll be there. You can get your pictures taken. But
I talked to Sam and he's notwild about the horse idea. We're gonna
have somebody dressed up as a horse. We're having a hard time convincing somebody
to do that. But there willbe a photo booth and there's the control
room just laughing, is you know, off right now. Perhaps a hobby
horse. Hobby horse, he says, the people dress up to go to
(09:18):
the Kentucky Derby. We could puta hat on him. Yeah, so
I suppose Derby or something. Sowe won't have the horse, but we
will have um Blues from the Heartland, which is a live blues and gospel
band. And I'm very excited aboutcarrying the horse. Yet I'm just saying,
he said. No, I'm notsaying I'm not going to get my
way. You could come. Youcould come. I'd be the other end.
(09:39):
But yeah, that's all right, guy there. Oh this is like,
no, it's not. It isa it's in the afternoon. It's
at two thirty where we'll have alight lunch, we'll have the music,
we'll have some raffle and silent auctionitems. People are encouraged male and female
to where their fancy hats, andif you don't have a fancy hat,
(10:01):
we will have a hat under there, just because we are. You know,
that's cool. We're all about thechapeau. Wow, the fancy sat
so uh so we're doing that. Those The tickets for that are thirty dollars
and they will be available at thedoor or on our website habitat SB SB
is in Samarandino dot org, habitatdot org org gog. Yeah, but
(10:24):
that's a good value thirty dollars.Well, and that's what we that's just
anything you go out anymore, dinneror whatever. It's great. Well,
and that's what we you know,we joke those of us who are who
are kind of in the business ofgoing to fundraisers. You know, you
keep paying one hundred, one hundredand twenty five dollars for chicken dinner and
it's the same chicken dinner. Andso we wanted to do something that was
more approachable. Um, as faras you know, you don't have to
(10:48):
dress up. I mean, Ilike the fancy hats, but you don't
have to dress up. It's alittle bit less expensive. It's in the
day. You can drop in,you can watch your two minutes of the
Kentucky Derby, drop us a checkand take off if you want. Oh,
but but I think we're gonna havefun. We were joking earlier before
the show started than somebody else isdoing a fundraiser. They're calling it a
gala and uh bless you uplift samor to Dato an Aaron Brenker. But
(11:09):
you're calling your their thing at galaand I said, that's just a fancy
word for chicken dinner. We're nothaving a chicken but yeah, you know.
UM, and it's not fifty thousanddollars either, is it. No.
We although we are looking for sponsors, um O, our sponsorship level
is smaller than the fifty thousand dollarslevel. Well, let's talk about that,
(11:33):
so we UM. You never know, we might have a sponsor listening
to Yeah. Yeah, So weare looking for event sponsors and UM both
for this and for our golf tournamentwhich will be at the Arrowhead Country Club
on October twentieth. UM. Andso at that level, it's we're looking
for twenty five hundred dollars sponsorships andUM at the golf tournament later in the
(11:56):
year. That would that would alsoinclude a foursome at the for the May
sixth event. If somebody wants togive me twenty five hundred dollars, I
promise I'll let them in and UM, you know, and give them a
give them lunch and and you know, maybe give them a hat. There
you go, We'll give them ahat. There you go. Toss your
(12:16):
money in the hat and then we'llgive you the hat. But let me
let me say, gosh your hatin. The reason that we're we're really
doing the intensive fundraising is that UMI did write a request for federal funding
for these four houses, and PeteEgilar's office, UM, you know,
put that through and we got theappropriations and we got eight hundred thousand,
which at the time I wrote therequest was about what it would cost to
(12:39):
build four homes. The cost ofbuilding has gone up from about a hundred
from about two hundred per house tothree seventy five a house, so we
and UM we are making up thatdifference. So that's why that's why we're
doing this. UM. The housesactually are going to be up in effin
that Casha in San Nardino on fourlots that were donated by the Baker family.
(13:03):
Oh outstanding, I know the neighborhood. Yeah, it's a nice neighborhood.
And these lots were given to habitatlike in two thousand and nine.
So we've been looking for a wayto use them and as part of our
thirtieth anniversaries last year, that's whenwe decided to dedicate it to a veterans
build, because we hadn't done aveterans build yet in our thirty one now
(13:26):
years. All outstanding things, alloutstanding things, and habitat for humanity is
been around for years and years andyears. It's not a fly by night
operation. It's not an operation whereninety percent of the money they raise goes
to Administration's laughing at this, butnow I have to say those things to
(13:46):
people because there are other nonprofits, especially on late at night, that are
with the eight hundred numbers that thatmay be the case. You know,
we don't have an eight hundred number. Yeah, give my poor little Russian
lady beleaguered bag of groceries that madeknife and then you give them twenty dollars
and nineteen ninety nine goes to administration. I'm not saying what who it is,
(14:09):
but anyway, I'm going to getin trouble if I'm shut up on
that one. But it's probably notthat. I'm probably always aggerating. But
what I am saying is that themoney that you donate, the money that's
raised, actually goes into something thatliterally concrete, a concrete foundation with a
house on it, and that helpspeople who are at risk their families are
(14:33):
at risk, their lives are atrisks because they can't afford, you know,
these ridiculous houses. I looked atthe house I'm reflecting on the real
estate market in general, about fouryears ago over on barton On Street,
and it was a nice house,a little Spanish Adobe that was already fifty
years old. At the time.I thought, oh, three hundred and
(14:56):
seventy five thousand dollars for a threebedroom, two bath, How that's too
much money and it needed to befixed and stuff. And now that house
is valued at seven hundred and thirtyfive thousand dollars and there's just no way
that somebody like my means can touchit. And of course people of a
little bit more less means are gonnanot be able to get anywhere near it.
(15:20):
So you're not you're building your it'sa dream come true. You're not
giving them a dream home. You'renot giving them a palace, but you're
giving them a place for their familiesand lay their heads, and it's a
safe place and it'll be clean andthey still have payments. Oh yeah they
do. And you know, it'snot about just about people having a place
(15:41):
to live. It's what homeownership doesfor a family's physical, mental, financial
health different yeah, for generations, and it is it is the way,
it's the way to go to buildto build a financialsts feeling good, you
(16:03):
know, to go from city politicsand sambrad you know, places of all
places to to this position now whereyou're really doing something fantastic and wonderful.
Well, I love it. Ilove Habitat. I've been involved with Habitat
for a dozen years. Um,I was a board president for three.
I've been writing grants for them forthe last couple of years. And so
when they needed a director, Iwas looking to get out of South Dakota,
(16:26):
where I'd been for the last twoand a half years. It was
very cold, and so I decidedI give my hand at this. And
I really believe in it. Imean, I just I mean, who
doesn't feel good about getting people intohomes? You know? Yeah, absolutely
so in South Dakota you have towear a coat in July at night,
so just about right, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's it gets cold
(16:48):
at night. And so welcome backto Sambraddna. We're glad to have you
and thank you and welcome back. And now we can also welcome someone else
too, So do you mind?So you said that I was a force
to be reckoned with, which isany you know, like recognizes like.
And so when I went over tothe golf course to talk to her about
(17:08):
doing a golf tournament in October,I met Feria and yeah, it's a
kindred spirit here and she is asexcited about building up the golf course as
I am about habitat. So please, Well, that's an important part of
Sambordino, in the north end ofsam Bardino. Even though it's in a
(17:29):
more wealthy neighborhood for Sambordadino, thehomes are older, so a lot of
them need fixing up now. It'snot like it used to be very affluent,
really really really, I mean it'sa challenge neighborhood and it's in of
itself. And then you have thisgolf course, which is a beautiful golf
course. Is a big green spotpointing right down at there as you go
up. You know, Valencia isthe arrowhead and right over the golf course,
(17:56):
and it's an historical place as wellfor a lot of people. It's
a doric place, I should say, and it's a big part of Sanrino's
history, and so it looked likeit was going to go down and it
was going to go away. Sofirst of all, the good news is
it's not and welcome not Mark, thank you for having me here. And
(18:19):
with on that note, a lotof people still can't understand what an incredible
place Arrowhead is. The Arrowhead CountryClub has meant so much to a lot
of people in San Bernardino. Itwas the place to come for a lot
(18:41):
of people, from movie stars tobusiness people, residents, and they had
more than just golf there correct,it was an actual country club where people
like they had their weddings, theirweddings there, swimming, swimming, tennis,
and I get to all those thingsare back at Arrowhead. But just
(19:03):
the history of our Owhead, Iliterally get goosebumps to know that people like
um Shirley Tempo, all these bigmovie stars and important people sat at our
bar, at my bar now.And I'm fortunate that we were able to
(19:26):
acquire Arrowhead and we are owners whowere giving it nothing but love. It's
a labor of love. It's abig ship. We're turning around and it's
one day at a time. Everythingwe make out of revenue goes back into
operations and when did you I don'tmean when did you first acquire it?
(19:52):
Um October of last of two thousandtwenty one. Okay, so it just
about a year. Yes, yes, and as everybody know, when we
got it it was kind of downand at this array, we're bringing all
of that back. We just redidthe complete clubhouse. It's a brand new
(20:12):
clubhouse. I keep the integrity ofthe bar. It's a solid oak bar,
so I kept that. And we'reactually putting money into the golf course
now, like we just finished erifying, we're fertilizing in the next week or
two, starting with each tea.We just did the first tea. So
(20:34):
we're trying to bring back some integrityfrom the past to Arrowhead. And again
it's a labor of love. CanI just she this is her nineteenth golf
course. So these people they're workingto upgrade it. But I mean they
actually know what they're doing, sothat's kind of exciting. Yes, my
(20:57):
husband, Mike Wynn has been inthe golf has been a PGA member for
thirty eight years. He's been wefrom San Diego now our home in San
Bernardino, and I'm happy to bepart of this community. And that's my
excitement is to go out there andbe a force and have my voice heard
(21:22):
to let people know that new peopleare are ahead and we're trying and doing
whatever it takes to bring this golfcourse back, and it's working from the
last year. It's a miracle hashappened there. You know, I grew
up in San Bardino, so it'smy hometown. I went to elementary school
(21:45):
in Samarino Junior High School, youknow, Lincoln Elementary or over your junior
high school, Samarino High School.I went to Samuel Valley College, cal
State Sanbardino. You know, myresume says sam Ardino all over it.
So I'm just yes, something's workingin Samboradal and just it's like a breath
of fresh air to hear this goodthing is happening, you know. And
(22:08):
just like the Enterprise building in downtownsambur you know, you know, good
things are happening. Yes, AndI'm so excited to hear about the Arrowhead
Country Club coming back, and I'mexcited. I mean, we'll go see
it now, please do. We'reopen for events, weddings. In fact,
right now, I am in themiddle of preparing a ceremony site exactly
(22:32):
where the arrow hits and the golfcourse. There's going to be a wedding
site there. He called something likethe point. Yes, I couple,
probably we'll talk about that. Iam just excited to be there, to
just love this place and give iteverything we have and we do and we
(22:56):
have a great membership, and Ilike to talk just a little bit about
it. And it's one hundred dollarsa month, and that is a reoccurring
revenue for us, and it getsyou to play for thirty two versus seventy,
and it's a big, big discount. It's a dynamic price. It
(23:18):
is one hundred dollars. As yousay, we spend one hundred dollars on
Starbucks. So whatever, it's easy, a lot of coffee on a month.
And we're going to talk more aboutthat in just a second. We
come back and talk about all that. But you know, in radio,
we have these little things called commercials. Yes, and it's time to do
that. He's waving at me likeit's time to do it. So,
(23:40):
Farrell, when is our guest alongwith Geji Hannah. I'm Mark Westward and
we're on community crossroads right now andwe reached the crossroad, but we'll be
back when we take this fork inthe road. On CASEA ten fifty AM
and one or six point five thestations that leave no listener behind. NBC
(24:07):
News Radio, I'm Lisa Taylor.Dramatic nine one calls from Monday's mass shooting

the SNP five hundred lost sixteen points, and the NASDAK dropped one hundred and

Is a living wage and employee benefitslike affordable healthcare more of a dream than
a reality for you and your family? If so, it's time to form
(25:14):

in a union with the power ofnumbers. A union is not a privilege,
it's your right and it will makea difference. Contact Teamsters Local nineteen

you. KA at fifty am oneoh six point five, the station that
leaves no listeners behind. And youknow, Grazing in the Grass is a
(26:22):
perfect spot for this because we're rightnow here with Jiji Hannah, the director
of Habitat for Humanity, and we'retalking about the greens in this particular case,
we're talking about the links and thatis in Samar. Do you know
what it's called the Arrowhead Country Club? You like how I mix that all
together with that music, Grazing inthe Grass And Ferrell Win is the director,
(26:45):
the chief cook and battlewasher, oneof the owners of the Arrowhead Country
Club now and they just pushed itin October, we found out and they've
been doing all kinds of great thingsover there. And it's so nice to
see someone who's not just an owneror an investor that comes in wants to
turn the land over and build somecondos or something, but somebody that's actually
committed to the city, committed tothe neighborhood, committed to the facility,
(27:10):
and wants to invigorate it and freshenit and update it and make it to
the what it could be. Andyou know you were talking about memberships,
and memberships are important because the communityhas to get involved. You can't do
this alone. I mean, youdon't have no one unless you're maybe the
owner of Tesla. You don't havebottomless pockets. And so you need that
(27:33):
help. And so let's talk aboutthe membership and how it supports the Arrowhead
Country Club. It's a big part. And that's I think that's what where
I want to talk about. Thisis having the community come in and see.
Please, I'm welcoming everybody to comeby and see the changes an Arrowhead
(27:55):
play Arrowhead. The membership, asI say, it's one, it's one
hundred dollars for a single person, one hundred and twenty five for a family.
And with that you get free rangeballs if you come. If somebody
plays Arrowhead three times a month,it pays for itself fifty percent off all
food and beverage. And as Isaid, it's a continued revenue, a
(28:18):
continuous revenue that goes right back intothe operations, and that operations take care
of the golf course. And youknow, the wonderful thing about belonging to
a country club and you say fiftypercent off all food, that's wonderful because
you can go there and you've gota good service, and you've got probably
an uncrowded restaurant, correct good food, and you know, these days one
(28:41):
hundred dollars, one hundred and twentyfive dollars for membership. I went and
I bought breakfast a breakfast platter forthree people the other day through a drive
through restaurant. It was thirty fivedollars. So that's not really out of
the question expensive, especially if youlike to play golf correct and it's healthy.
Yes, and you know, youget a lot of walking in,
(29:03):
and you get a lot of networkingin and some business deals going. You
know, it's a good thing todo. I will probably join your country
club. And even though I livein we are we're one of the last
gems in San Bernardino. I wantto see it flourish. I want to
see this gem shine bright, andif I have anything to do with it,
(29:27):
mark it's going to shine bright. No Samardino's coming back. It is,
I do believe it is because ofits geography, because of its location,
because of the beauty and the surroundings. And like we pointed out the
arrowhead that shines down on that golfcourse on the links there, as you're
playing golf, you can look atthat beautiful hotel up there, and that's
(29:47):
owned by the San Manuel Mission bandof Indians. Now the what is the
name of that hotel, well,Yamava is the name of the tribe,
the hotel um the Arrowhead Hotel,Springs Hotel. Okay, it's coming to
me. You know, a lotof swimming around this brain sometimes, but
you know, it is a wonderful, magnificent place to just I went to.
(30:11):
The last thing I was there wasa jazz festival and we had it
right there and it was just sonice to sit there and listen to the
jazz and look up the links thereand the trees and the beautiful area and
the beautiful setting and see the mountainthere, and it really is a peaceful
thing to do. It's gorgeous ifyou when you stand and you look up.
(30:33):
You get to play golf in thisgorgeous golf course. And as I
said, we're doing everything we canto bring it back to a playability state,
and it does give you children. You look up and you see this
big beautiful arrow facing you know, the brides are going to be married under
(30:53):
that. I'm working on a newbridled ceremony site. And if you're somebody
who's a novice golf player, yes, especially it's a great place to go
because you can take your time golfing. Yes, because it's not a really
congested, super busy, super populargolf course. Right now, we're getting
(31:18):
there. You're getting there, butyou can golf on it and you're not
going to have teams of people waitingfor you to get done and get to
the ball and get to the nextSo it's a leisurely place you can golf.
Yes, And I too want tothank everybody who's been supporting us.
We have busier days now, Ourweekends are packed, you know. It's
(31:40):
it's nice to see people hustling andbustling and playing golf and having a few
whatever trains beverages, you know, and it's nice to see the camaraderie.
And that's what I want to buildaround our neighborhood is the camaraderie. Have
people come back on Friday nights.I would love our neighbors to come,
(32:01):
have a place to sit down, have something to eat, have something to
drink, and just have a goodtime and a safe surround. Emma.
Great, And you know we've beentalking with Gigi Hannah from Habitat Humanity and
we're also right now talking about withFerrial Win about the Arrowhead Country Club in

really excited about the Senator coming totalk and I'm looking forward to bring in

the twenty third Senatorial district, bythe way, which Arrowhead Country Club is

(33:51):
that's a great thing. It isa great thing for us. I'm looking

like Habitat for Humanity, uh humanity, Where'd I get that from? Zoomanity?
That's a new one Habitat for Humanity, UM Habitat sb dot org.
(34:40):
Just google these things. Yes,Google is a wonderful thing. And so
if you don't have the exact url, just an you're riding down the road
and you're you're trying to steer offthe road, trying to night all these
complicated URLs. Just google it.I do have a phone number they can
call. It's San Berndino Area Chamberof Commerce and the number is nine O
(35:00):
nine eight eight five seven five onefive. It's Friday morning at our head
country Club. Really nice breakfast andthen everybody gets to talking. Nine nine
eight eighty five seventy five fifteen Okay, perfect. You know what, I
really really want to encourage you tojoin the country club, because I did,
(35:23):
she did, and you know,I am one of the cheapest people
around you. I mean it's it'sbeen years people have been trying to get
me to join the country club, and but this was a great deal.
This was a great deal, andI really want to support the country club,
and so I hope you'll join aswell, and perhaps we can learn
(35:45):
to play golf together. Yeah, that would be fun. I'll bring my
pool queue. Oh wait a minute, you don't use a p Let's bring
your clubs and your irons. ButI would be happy to have you guys.
I have two golf bro on property. Mike Wynn, who's been a
PGA member, my husband, andan agronomous and a supreme class A superintendent.
(36:13):
He's been in the golf business ofthirty eightis really know what he's doing,
turned a lot of golf courses aroundand please come meet him. He's
always in the office. And wehave Kenny Pigman, who is a new
golf bro with us, and we'rehappy to have everybody come and join and
(36:34):
play and have fun. Let's bringback what San Bernardino has been missing.
And I'm a much better swimmer thanI'm a golfer, but I don't know
if I'm allowed to swim in thepool anymore. But because it's gone to
tell us about the neat arrangement doyou have? I have this arrangement with
coach Lauren from Aquinas and he hasswimming there every night Monday through Friday and
(36:58):
Saturday mornings. He has an niceteam. A lot of his swimmers are
qualifying has qualifying Olympicum. I guesstheir numbers or whatever. They're Gold times
times and we have coach Scott fromAquinas giving tennis lessons every Saturday. So
(37:21):
if you want to learn to playtennis, this is open to the public
that they could come see see usat Arrowhead Golf Shop and we'll give you
information to come and learn to playtennis with a pro and use our tennis
courts. We've turned two of thetennis courts into pick a ball so people
could come and play pick a ballnow pickle ball, yes, oh,
(37:45):
I've heard about that. It's likelittle nets and little things that finally like
ping pong on a costco scale. And we have food and beverage. Pickle
ball, yes, pickaball. Wewe now have food and beverlege. People
can come and get a burger, brito, have food. All the amenities
(38:07):
are back and um, we're lookingforward to having and seen people out there.
How wonderful, How wonderful. Iwas remembering the name earlier when we
were talking in my office. TheJury family. Jake. Jerry is a
friend of play with us. He'sin fact, he's dead as we speak.
Really, yes, in the pool. No, he's sprang golf.
(38:28):
Oh okay, the dad maybe you'retalking Dad and the Sun, the Sun
and the Center. Okay, theroofing company, the Jury Roofing Company.
Oh and yeah, they're they're they'rereally great people. Anyway, just just
mentioned the name, thrown out, dropping names because that's what we do around
here, right And you know, you know why you're thinking about it,
you know, drop a check forone hundred hundred and twenty five dollars down
(38:52):
to the Arrowhead Country Club. It'sit's it's not only investment in yourself and
your health. Been to Sanberdino thecommunity. Yeah, next Friday to twenty
second, we have San Bernardino PDand for the it's for the Mounted Hosts
Division, and it's going to bea full fledge, you know, so
(39:14):
everybody come on by. There's alot happening, a lot lots going on.
It is that time of the yearand we need to get back involved
and activated. You know, wecame out of the COVID and we were
all masked and in our houses andshopping on Instacart and not going out.
Now you know, we can goout, yes now, you know,
hopefully we're all vaccinated and hopefully we'reall you know, healthy and everything else.
(39:37):
And we've kind of squashed that thingdown and we can now go face
to face and get back and activatedin the community. That's a wonderful thing.
You can dance again. Yes,excuse me, somebody's phone is ringing,
okay, but it vibrates. It'sa we're all like, you gotta
turn your phones off and throw themacross the room and you know, but
(40:00):
anyway, I digress here. There'sjust lots of things you can do of
a the Aerohead Country Club, andthere's lots of things you can get involved
with, like Habitat for Humanity tomorrowor night. I'm just going to plug
something real quick, and I'm surethey're probably sold out already. The Susan
G. Coleman Foundation and a groupcalled Big Wigs, which was with the
(40:20):
Samueo County Sheriff's Department, are doinga fundraising either having dueling pianos, but
Hops and Spokes Brewery in New Kaipa, And if you go to Hops and
Spokes you might be able to geta ticket. So I'm not sure whether
you are going to be able toor not, but it is a great
phenomenal thing. We've been promoting thison this radio station and all my cousin
radio station across the way K ninetytwo point five as well. It's a
(40:43):
good cause. So there's all kindsof great causes to get involved with.
And I talk about this on thisshow all the time. So anytime you
have something like that, you knowyou're more than welcome to gg already knows
this. I've made a good friendin Sandy, I mean in San Bernadina,
and I'm very happy. I Gigi, thank you, Oh, thank
you. You know, it's allabout partnerships. We don't get anywhere without
(41:06):
helping each other. That's right,That's right, Giggy, So you will
be coming as the horses back.I'm auditioning right now, gig you know,
I'm just charging with you. Iam so excited about this eventis all
(41:27):
get to get dressed up, atethese cute little sandwiches, have whatever is
available, and then we all getto dress up in these little pink dresses
and cute hats, and well youcan wear a pink dress, but I
should we get him to wear ap I would be illegal in some states,
unfortunately, California, but not aCalifornia. Yeah no, so is
(41:50):
missus doubtfire. By the way,so is Milton Burrell so as a whole
bunch of people that were in burlesqueand stuff. But anyway, I digress.
Let's not go there. We're inCalifornia, Thank godwin California. Weather
has been one. Oh you guys. Yes, weather has been gorgeous.
I have a home in Lake ourHead, and we went through a really
(42:12):
rough time in the last couple ofmonths. There he's nodding his head.
He lived in Crestline and I haven'tbeen to my home up there for three
weeks a month. Finally back andit's beautiful and gorgeous. So, yes,
the weather is turning around. Forall of our events and everybody to
come out and have a good timeto support San Bernardino. Just be here
(42:32):
for all these Gigi. I likedthe idea of having smaller events and people
coming by and supporting you, andyou know, not thinking that they have
to bring out this big summer money. Now it's just fun and supporting all
the good causes, right, Andyou know, from womb to tomb,
(42:54):
you know, you can make alot of money, and you can accrue
a lot of money and beautiful homesand cars and boats and all that stuff.
But in the end, we alldie with the same bank account.
But what we do take with usis the good will and the love of
people. And the way you developthat good will and love with people is
to be a people person and togive and to contribute back to your community
(43:15):
and do it as much as youcan till it hurts, till it really
hurts. Yes, but you knowit's a good thing. Every year,
this radio station participates in something calledSanta Claus Lane. If you haven't heard
about Santa Claus Lane, I'm goingto encourage you to get involved with that
as well. Santa Claus Lane. Are you familiar with that by any chance?
(43:37):
Let me tell you about They Everyyear at the National Orange Show,
they have a big, big, huge gala. It really is a gala,
big band in the whole nine yards, lots of food, and they
have Christmas trees at different companies likethe Arrowhead Country Club can sponsor Christmas tree
and decorate that tree and it's putdown there and then it's auctioned off and
people make the money from that andthen it gives money for kids, not
(44:00):
just assistance league, the assistance likeyeah, the same people that do the
headdress Ball. So guys I'm lookingforward to that. Yeah, and so
every year and that goes for kids, for backpacks during the year, for
school supplies during the year, notjust for Christmas presents. But you know,
it's such a worthy cause and we'reso glad to be a part of
that too. So we're glad tobe a part to help both of you
(44:22):
and go forward with that. That'sthat's the excitement in me right now,
like truly in my heart is theexcitement of all of these good things.
And you know you're listening to uson KSEA ten fifty am and one to
six point five am. We're talkingwith Ferrell Wind from the Arrowhead Country Club,
one of the new UH tenants anddirectors um persons that run it.
(44:44):
And then Gigi Gigi Hannah Hannah anyway, the director and a good friend of
mine. If I keep this up, I'm not gonna be U of the
Habitat for Humanity. I will notmake fun in your name anymore, because
you know Mark is you know youcan make fun of me to question mark
exclamation mark period, but I'm notthat kind of person. Anyway. We
(45:12):
like to have fun here, butyou know, Kseyaa, I'm going to
put a plug in for us now, and that is that you're talking on
one of the most locally independently ownedradio stations because you can do this here.
We've been on for nearly fifty minutestalking about your two different things.
You couldn't go to some of theseother radio stations that are owned by the
big corporations. I won't say IHeeart, Nodyssey or any of those people,
(45:34):
but you know they're owned by thebig corporations because they're so busy cranking
out music and like jukeboxes and playingtwenty minutes worth of spots in a row.
Uh, you know that you can'tget your messages out and casey aa,
we're locally owned, and you knowkeep coming back to us because this
is where your bread is buttered. We will and in the same way,
we'll support you guys too. Andthat's how communities are built, and that's
(45:58):
how they're lengthened. And in Sambordino, there's so much more that needs to
go on, so much more thanneeds to go on, and we've got
a whole town to build, Yeswe do. It is the ultimate urban
barn raising. There's nowhere to goup. I told Gigium. You know,
a lot of Samarino is great, beautiful area where you are in Samardino
(46:20):
up on Valencia just below fortieth Street, you know, and the country Club
Drive and the beautiful homes and statelyhomes that are up there. And you
know, there's the south end ofSamue and there's cal State Sanmarino. There's
the bungalow district. I call itdowntown sam Bardino that needs to be made
a bungalow district. And they needto start fixing up those World War One
(46:43):
craftsmen and Queen ad cottages and thingsthat are up down there. That needs
to happen. We have a newmayor. There's a lot in Samardino that's
going to be good. They needto revitalize, like twenty more blocks.
But yes, new mayor happens tobe on the Habitat for Humanity Board,
Helen Trent, Helen Good. AndI think she's really committed to the community.
At least I think so too.And I think that that's good news
(47:06):
for Samarino. There's good news happenedin all the place. There's gonna be
forty three acres in downtown Samardino redevelopedhere in the next year to two years.
It was called the Carousel Mall, and somehow that's going to be redeveloped.
I know, sure, I knowabout all the plans yet, and
we're keeping our fingers crossed that somehowor other that comes out well for the
city of Samaro. But really there'sabout twenty blocks in downtown Samrenardino that need
(47:30):
to be reopened, revitalized, andand and and it'll spring back. So
you know, some people say it'sgoing to take decades for samp No,
it's not. No, it's not. If you can redo a country club
in a year year and a halfand revitalize it and it has nothing but
upward places to go, are youright, there's nothing but up Yeah,
(47:50):
and habitat for humanity. During COVID, you've had your your blows and it
was difficult. It was difficult. We had to close our restore because of
COVID and rising commercial real estate prices. So we are hoping to reopen that
by the end of the year. But and we at Casey had to survive.
(48:12):
Yeah, you know, it's businesses. I had to survive. So
what we do with grab hands,We join hands, just like you're on
the lifeboat. You know, allwater, the water raises everybody, and
so that's a great thing. Whetherit's the Susan G. Coleman Foundation,
whether it's um uh, what Icall Christmas Lane and you call it that's
other name, Assistance League. Well, Assistance League is the group that does
(48:32):
it, that puts it on.Well, actually I think they participate in
it, but I'm mainly mistaken.I think there actually is a sand Klaus
Lane Incorporated. Oh you're talking aboutSanta Claus Inc. Yeah, you're right,
you're right. I am so sorry. Yeah, that's okay. Yeah,
I'm getting my my good good worksand nonprofits. They still do the
head dress Ball name, but thehead Dress Ball and the Christmas Tree Lane
(48:53):
are like the best events all years. I'm looking forward to going to them.
As you talk about Coleman, Iam a stage four breast cancer survivor,
So I would love to get involvedin any type of that kind of
that type of evenge give me someGloria Gainer to go out on. You
(49:14):
know the song you're the DJ inthere first anyway, but you are.
That is fantastic. You did tellme that. Thank you, And you
know, anybody that can come throughthat in the chemo and the missectomies and
the reconstruction, did it all andhave a positive outspect outlook and survive and
have the energy. Kudos to you, Oh my god, biggest smiling face
(49:37):
ever. You do have a greatsmile. By by the way, you
know that we're on video. Idon't know whether you realize that or not,
but we are on video there, and then we're on TIKI Live,
and we're also on Rumble and uh, you know, YouTube and places like
that, so there'll be a recordedsession of that. And then we also
have our podcasts that we have too, so we'll be able to give you
(49:59):
that. That's a nice think aboutbeing on KSEA. There's always a podcaster
recording what we just did, soyou can take it back and see your
friends. Listen. I was onNBC News Radio this afternoon. Here we
are big time. Anyway, We'veenjoyed having you, Gigi, Hannah,
thank you very much for having usone more time. Let's plug the events
(50:19):

We'll go forth and I will goforth and process. That's all do
