Speaker 1 (00:18):
One of the most celebrated personalities that Virtue also travel
Week and doesn't have to be travel week to celebrate
her because she's been more than twenty years now celebrating
Italy and giving people memories that last a lifetime. You
know who I'm talking about already, Andrea Grisdale. I see
Bellaggio Vanjornovanja and Michael.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
Great to see you again, this time in Vilaga, Las Vegas.
Not the real one.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Not much similar, is it?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Absolutely not a lot. I think there must have been
some kind of inspiration somewhere, but yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Yeah, that's Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
And then of course I saw a sign at the
airport Viva las Venetian and you drive out there and
it looks like Venice. But it's in a comical sort
of oversized sense.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yeah, you know, why not? It's all publicity, right, Well,
it's just saying there's no bad publicity.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
True.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
And by the way, speaking of that, we are moving
over Stanley Tucci. Now he's off the stage, Andrea Grisdale is.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
On the stage. Because you've become the new star of
your own show.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Well, that's kind of big shoes to Bill. I wouldn't
have said that, but yeah, we're very excited excited about
a new show that we're about new show. It's actually
a docuseries that we're just launching. The trailer is out
and we've decided to start this journey in the Dolomites
and not by chance. That is actually the first place
(01:44):
that I stayed and I worked when I moved to Italy,
way back when you.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Moved to Italy and you founded ic Blagio.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
If you go to icbelagio dot com, you'll have an
experience in Italy unlike any that you could have crafted
for yourself, or even if you knew the new poet,
you couldn't get this done. But Andrea can get it
done and her team.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
So the show is.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Called The show is called Italian Roots by Andrew grosself,
by myself, obviously all part of Uberlago, and it has
been created to really take people on a journey inside
what we call our Italy and to introduce them to
our people. You know, one of my favorite science, it's
all about the people. You know, we can have the
(02:27):
most incredible hardware, but it's the people that make the
difference in everything that we do. And this show has
really been created to introduce those people that are so
often behind the scenes or are the people taking care
of our guests when they're on the ground, and they're
the ones that make the difference. And I just love
talking to them a about learning about how important travel
(02:50):
and tourism is to them, and also what they get
from the clients. You know, we often hear the client
side of the story, the conversations and the I took
me here, the driver did this, etc. But often we
don't hear from our people on the ground about what
they got from the guests, you know, learning about their culture,
(03:10):
learning about their heritage, having that cultural exchange, and just
how important it is for them and their families as well.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
I never thought about that that it's actually enjoyable to
hear what the guests are like, especially the people who
come to ic Bolagio, because they come from all corners
of the world and they are people of means and
intrigue and huh.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
So I like the double play on the word too.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Italian roots could be our O U T e s
or r ots because you are taking people to authentic
Italian roots and the roots.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Absolutely, I didn't think about it that way either. It
is an routes also you know, we're we're taking a
step inside the world of food wine, which one of
the things that I would say is on everybody's list
when we ask why did you choose it this year
for your vacation. But we're also looking to show people
(04:02):
that there is so much beyond those what they see
on Instagram and the social media, you know, maybe destinations
which could be considered secondary destinations they're not quite so
well known, and also really encouraging people who do have
a choice when they travel to think about traveling during
the quieter months what we love to call a slow season,
(04:23):
and just really highlighting why it's a good idea for them.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
So have you ever met Stanley Tucci?
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Absolutely not yet, but it's on my list.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Now you're going to have a collision with him because
they're going to come for you probably. And how often
will episodes drop and where do we see them?
Speaker 2 (04:40):
So we will be dropping episodes about once every fifteen days.
The first episode is going to be published on the
twentieth of August. We've literally just published our trailer, and
after the twentieth of August it will be about every
ten days or so we will be publishing episodes. First
series has been set. As I mentioned in the Dolomite
(05:02):
second one, we'll be in Sicily and then for the
third one you'll just have to keep watching. Where to
find them on social media channels? We have Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn,
also on Vimeo and of course YouTube as well. Almost
forgot about YouTube.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah, well, it's hard to keep up because there's always
something new all the time. And of course the hub
is icybalagio dot com. So you are they all in
the can or are you making them as you go?
That's an ambitious production schedule.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
It certainly is production schedules you know something about. So
the Dolomite series is definitely in the can. We're just
putting the final little edits tweaks to it and in
Sicily we will be filming October November. Again. The idea
is to highlight destinations during the slow season months and
(05:55):
show people live just how beautiful they are, what kind
of sensets they are, you know, we're away from the crowd,
what kind of experience, what the weather looks like, Just
have them dreaming of Italy and just really trying to
you know, give them a night, give them some kind
of inspiration to think about you know, I don't need
(06:16):
to travel to the same place as everybody else does,
and I don't need to do it at the same
time everybody else is doing it.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
So dommites will keep rolling out every two weeks until
you shoot the next destination. So we're going to get
a good deep dive that will entice.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Us to go.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Absolutely. You will also be getting some great interviews with
our people on the ground, and I think you're going
to enjoy the Michael. You know, we're going to hear
not just about how important travel and tourism is for
them and how much they you know that they love
working with our guests, but also what comes through really
strongly in everybody's interview is how passionate they are about
(06:53):
the place that they so proudly call home and how
much they love sharing it with people who come from
the other side of the world.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
You said personalities. Eventually, will Julia de Carrolls be one
of the people you interview in Venice.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Never say never, And she'll.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Shoot me for even saying that, because she's very modest.
But your guests are and your guides are all fantastic,
and we're going to get a look at them, and
they're going to tell us what they learn from us too.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
It's Italian Roots.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Are outees at ic Belagio, and we will continue with
Andrea Grisdale who founded that company, continuing with Andrea Grisdale,
the founder of icblagio dot com, and will take you
to the parts of Italy that you didn't even dream you.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Would have access to.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
So now with Italian Roots your television show that's going
to topple. Stanley Tucci, how do you like being on
the other side of the coin. You've been interviewed on
this program and many others, Peter Greenberg, et cetera. But
now you're doing the interviewing and you're doing the production.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
It's a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
I thought you were going to say it's a lot
of work, a lot of the border.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Actually, Michael, I didn't realize how hard work it is.
I mean literally, I go home after a week shoot exhausted.
I feel like I haven't done anything because I have
the most incredible creative crew who fly over from the UK.
The guys from Pensada, a wonderful company who you saw
their productions. We always work with them and Nicole and
(08:27):
they're the ones thinking I literally just have to show
up and I'm in front of the camera enjoying having
some great conversations with our people literally here, there, and everywhere.
I've done interviews in cable cars, on the top of mountains,
in the middle of rocks, on bikes, you name it. Yeah,
they keep me busy and out of trouble. For sure, you.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Must be a natural then, because that can be very
tedious because you might do fifteen takes to get it
just right and maybe not.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Now we just go with the flow. There's no parotion
in advance. It's just great conversation. We definitely don't give
people in advance that heads up on what we're going
to ask them, because we just want people to be
natural and we want them to speak from the heart,
just like they do with our guests, and really get
their take on what they genuinely feel regarding our guests,
(09:19):
regarding tourism, it's importance and how important it is for them.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Any closer to arranging for me to meet the Prime
Minister Georgia Maloney, we talked about this a year ago.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Now, Michael, slowly, slowly we get in there. Some things
we do need a little time, you know, that we
you know, no, it's not an option for us, but
we're working on it, I promise.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I mean morning at the Vatican keyholder. I'm going to
be in town anyway. Probably I could easily swing over
to wherever she is.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Okay, we'll keep working on it.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
And what about our man, saying Ghali the designer from Milan.
Will he be featured on the show.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Of course, he'll be featured on the show. How can
we do the show with al Fadiriko?
Speaker 1 (09:57):
He might have to change four times, five different outfits
during his interview.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yeah, he'll be cool. You know, he's a cool guy.
Just give him one of his cigars and he'll be happy.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
You know, here they ought to let Barbara take his
place because now there is a beautiful Italian bland.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
She'll steal the show
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Absolutely, and she's amazing, as you know,
