Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ah, gosh, Tony Cuthbert was in downtown Detroit. Was it
Monday Night? Already? The week is just flying by?
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Yes, it was Monday Night. Monday Night Raw, the flagship
program for the WWE, which by the way, is exclusively
only viewed on Netflix, So technically it was the first
ever live event on Netflix in the state of Michigan.
Believe it or not.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Oh yeah, d what was it called?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
WWE Monday Night Raw?
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Visit Detroit dot Com. Tony Cuthbert decided to dive in
and you can too. Claude Moullinari at Visit Detroit dot
Com has been telling people come on down to the city,
and Tony Cuthbert decided to do it on a pure
Michigan visit And what happened? Where did you stay? What
did you do? What was it like? Was it crowded?
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Oh my goodness, it was crowded because we did have
a Tigers game that was going on at the exact
same time, and we stayed at a property downtown, the
Hotel Indigo, which is great basically behind the Cony, the
American Coney Island and Lafayette Coney Island right there near campus.
Marsh's Park, so it was a straight shot technically outside
(01:10):
of Woodward to get to LCA and MPs. I must
say the production that the WWE puts on is something special,
maybe in my opinion, the loudest event I've ever been to.
Maybe the loudest event in LCA if you think about
the usual tenants and they're the Pistons and Red Wings,
not usually a lot to cheer about. And the craziest
thing to me was the fans in there. I would
(01:32):
say it was maybe close to a fifty to fifty
split between kids and adults for an event that at
some points in times the fans will shout out some
things that are a little bit unsavory. But it was
a good time had by.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
All I heard is so you ran into some notables
at this wrestling event.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
I did. I did see one of our good friends,
Jeff Wiggins, who assists with Senator Eric Nesbitt. He was
there with his four kids and they were just having
the time of their lives. And there was a bunch
of other nice people that we were around as well.
And ran into State Senator John Demosi was in town
just for a quick meeting and then he got out,
but he was good to see him of course.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Wow. Okay, So Northern Michigan met Detroit and Mid Michigan
with Jeff Wiggins, who's running the campaign of Eric Nesbit,
who was on the radio just the other day. He's
running for governor.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
They were both on the show on Monday, which was
crazy to think about.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
That's right, it's little did I know they were going
to be downtown Detroit that night with Tony Cuthbert in
the orchestra. Josh whooped it up.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Oh my goodness. He saw all of his favorite wrestling
stars and he knows every little dance to do with
him and every little celebration, every saying. Like I said,
some of those though, are better left at the house
as opposed to in the general public, so better parenting
will be needed next time.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Probably did you go to the American Coney Island.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
We did not. We walked past it yesterday for breakfast.
It was like, I don't know, nine o'clock and they
were already prepping the dogs. They were already on the
grill right there. Those people know rest for the weary.
The dogs are ready to go at all points and times. Apparently.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Visit Detroit dot Com, Tony Covert and the Orchestra was there,
and Jeff Wiggins and State Senator John Demouse and you
can be too. We just took you there virtually. That's
kind of what we do around these parts. It's Michael
Patrick Shields. Read my travel writing in the Lansing State Journal,
