Speaker 1 (00:01):
Good evening, Big Brother fans or good morning. It is Friday,
November eighth, twenty twenty four, and I am driving home
from a college basketball game and thought I would check in.
Have not talked to you guys since Big Brother ended,
and there's been a few things going on in the

(00:23):
last few days that I wanted to address for those
of you about Big Brother very little. I'll mention some
of the things I talk about will mention Big Brother
people probably, but there's no news about Big Brother per se,
other than we seem to have confirmation that there will
not be a Reindeer Games this year. Big Brother UK

(00:46):
has been going. It has about a week left. I've
been watching it. Those of you that follow me on
Twitter know that those of you that have paid attention
know how you can watch it. If you're interested. Look
me up on Twitter or somewhere else, or on Big
Brother Gossip dot com and I can direct you or
send me an email if you want to watch it.
I have availability of all the episodes, which is currently

(01:09):
I think tonight was episode thirty, so thirty episodes. They
do six episodes a week and six weeks, so roughly
thirty six episodes, and we're on episode thirty tonight. Anyways,
why am I doing a podcast in November? And the
answer is because of things that have been going on

(01:31):
in the Twitter verse. And some of you are like,
I don't care about the Twitter verse, Mike, And if
you don't, then you know what. Fast forward to the
end and we'll talk to you next time. Those of
you that do probably already have a little bit of
an inkling on what's going on, but maybe not, so
let me explain to you. And I have talked about

(01:52):
Twitter before, so I have a decent sized presence on
Twitter right. I have a lot of followers, and that's
where I spent a lot of my time talking about
the show when I'm not doing this. And in the
last few weeks, the owner of Twitter one, mister Elon Musk,

(02:13):
has talked he's made changes over the last two years
since he took us, since he bought Twitter, and it
has driven people crazy. And there's been talking about people
leaving Twitter, and it's happened in fits and spurts. And
I checked out threads and post dot news and Blue
Sky when it came out, and you know, people have

(02:34):
thought about going other places and it and it's it's
another one of these cycles has happened in parts. It's
multi faceted. The reasons for this are the first reason,
in my opinion, for people to start getting disgruntled, is
that he started to change talk about changing the way
certain things work. The whole block feature that you can
block people and they can't see any of the things

(02:55):
you do. But he's decided to make it so that
if you block someone, they just can't engage with you.
They can still see what you do, they just can't
engage with you. And that upsets some people. And there's
just been other issues where it feels like people people
have not felt safe on Twitter, that that Elon has

(03:15):
not really cared about safety, He doesn't care about people.
He certainly has taken a certain political leaning in the
last couple of months. Uh something that when he took
over Twitter, he said he wouldn't do that, but he
kind of has, and he full on endorsed one presidential
candidate and uh so, you know that that changed the
feelings of a lot of people, and so a lot

(03:36):
of people, I'd say, half right, if we're going to
go the population, if we think of the US centric thing,
which it is, and it's it's it's international obviously, but
the US folks, you know, at least half of them
on the platform are not necessarily happy with mister Musk
for forgetting political and with the with the results of
the election. Uh, there is a lot of concern by

(03:58):
people that Elon will you'll even more free to do
whatever he wants to do, and the way he manages
the application or the the the you know, the platform,
the way he does things, and a lot of people
are just like, you know what, this is the final
this is the straw that has broken their back. Not
everybody's back, not my back, but a lot of people's backs.

(04:18):
And so a lot of people just said, that's it,
I'm out of here. A quote mass exodus. It is
not a mass exodust A lot of people, however, quite
a few are looking elsewhere for alternatives. And the last
time some of this stuff happened, like I said, there
was like post dot news, there was other other platforms. Mastadon,

(04:39):
you had Blue Sky, Threads was just barely starting to
be whispered about. Okay, fast forward to now and Mastadon
is a thing, but it really isn't that popular a thing.
Threads is very popular, which is a version of Instagram,
which is owned by Facebook, so that's owned by another billionaire. Right.
In essence, blue Sky is an application that is very

(05:04):
very similar to Twitter in a lot of ways and
the way it feels and acts. But it was created
as a side project by people that were affiliated with
Twitter many years ago, and it was in a closed
beta up until either late last year or early this year.
And I was one of those people, and I talked
about it, right, I talked about Twitter, or I talked

(05:25):
about Blue Sky. I was excited about Blue Sky, but
for me, it never got enough of a population of people.
And we were talking tens of thousands or hundreds of
thousands of people there. And when you're looking to get
a community going around Big Brother, that's not enough because
they aren't all Big Brother fans. A tiny fraction of
those people are Big Brother fans. Right. Well, this time,

(05:47):
this past Wednesday, I noticed some people that I knew
that already were on Blue Sky and mentioned that they
were going to go to Blue Sky. They were, they
were kind of looking at it again, and I so
I fired up my Blue Sky instance. Sure enough, a
lot of people, many of whom had already been there,
were kind of coming back to it and going like,
I don't know, maybe I am gonna hang out here,

(06:07):
Maybe I don't want to be on Twitter as much.
Maybe for Big Brother twenty seven, this will be my place.
That that is blue Sky. And also the same was
going for based on what another friend on Twitter that
that has also as a president on Threads that there
was about half of his followers were going towards Threads,

(06:27):
the other half were said they were going to Blue Sky.
So there's been a bit of a bifurcation of the
of the of the fan base. And who knows for
sure if one or the other is going to get
the majority of the followers, or if they both are
gonna get apart, or if everyone's gonna end up back
on Twitter again next summer. All those are possibilities. It
is definitely very possible that Twitter will still be the
go to place for Big Brother next summer. I'm not

(06:49):
saying it isn't. All I'm saying is is quite a
few people have at least investigated Blue Sky, which is
now completely open that anybody can join. You can just
go to blue Sky, create an account, log in and
do it. The one of the really nice things about
blue Sky, without getting too terribly technical, is that it
will never have an owner. It is. It is Your

(07:09):
content is your content, and you have control over it
in a way that you will never have control over
it on Twitter. It makes it, it makes it a
little bit different. There's a little bit technical stuff, and
the same as supposed to Harry through for Threads, even
though right now Zuckerberg, it's Zuckerberg stuff right in theory

(07:30):
with Threads you'll have the similar kind of freedom eventually,
but right now, I'm not so sure. Right now, if
I had to say which one are you more? Do
you have more safety and control over your data? I
would say it's Threads or sorry, sorry, it's not threads.
It's a blue Sky all right. Again, I just wanted
to make some of you aware that there is a

(07:52):
bit of a shift going on right now where people
are looking to move over. I personally, as an example,
I have had a blue Sky accounts since April of
twenty twenty three. It is it had people, I've had followers.
I had just under one thousand followers right I had
one hundred from Persa All in Twitter, I have one
hundred and sixteen thousand followers Okay, for numbers, they aren't

(08:14):
all my followers. A lot of them are bots, and
a lot of the followers that I have are probably
old accounts that don't even have people on them anymore.
Understand that. But I do have a good decent size
of those. One hundred and sixteen are real people. One
hundred and sixteen thousand are real people and do follow
me and read what I say so on on blue Sky.
By comparison, I had seven hundred and some followers as

(08:37):
of Wednesday. Okay, so a bit of a difference there, right,
But those seven hundred are fairly engaged. They are actually people.
It isn't just you know, these dead accounts, although some
of those even are kind of not very active. But
over the course of the last thirty six hours getting
closer to to forty eight hours now I have now

(08:57):
added I'm gonna say, somewhere between three and four hundred
accounts have people have showed up. And those are real people, right,
that are actually jumping over to blue Sky to try
it out, to sign up. So there is a bit
of a move. And so if you're interested, if you
want to try to get involved in the community, if
you want to meet some Big Brother fans and want

(09:18):
to get involved, and you've always felt like I like
I like the Big Brother community, but I don't have
a lot of followers. I don't have much interaction. Well,
right now is when people are getting involved, and the
people that are getting involved now are the ones that
are going to be around for the long time. Like, oh,
I remember you when that thing happened to blue Sky,
so just consider it if you want to jump on,
get on the Blue Sky, set up your account, interact

(09:39):
with people. It's happening. And the last big thing that
happened tonight at one point I saw is that a
good chunk of the rhap Rob has a podcast. People,
the people that are on that platform, they all showed
up on Blue Sky tonight. I saw that. I can't

(10:02):
say who all did, but I saw a big chunk
the Chappelle person. He tweeted or tweeted, he posted a
list of all their accounts and set they're here. That's
actually fairly substantial because they were also on threads and
I actually messaged at Rob as a podcast from Threads
and I said, you guys should really look at Blue Sky. Now.
I am not responsible for whatever happened tonight. That's not

(10:24):
what I'm saying, But I said I if the Rob
has a podcast crew, make a move, a lot of
people will seriously consider it. So think about it. Keep
it in mind. That's something that maybe next summer we're
talking about the best place to go to follow the
feeds and what's going on on Big Brother. Many house guests,

(10:46):
many a few house guests have shown up over there.
I Izzy from last season was there, is there? America
is there. I think Joseph from this season is there.
I know Evil Dick is there, which some people have
a problem with Evil Dick and I and I understand that,
but I think I'm the one who invited Evil Dick
back during the beta. I was just trying to get

(11:07):
people over there, and I'm getting anyone in every one
I can. And so, by the way, you don't have
to follow in these people. And you can block people
on Blue Sky, and you can block people much better
on Blue Sky than you can on Twitter. So just
keep that in mind. So and by the way, yeah,
I don't call Twitter X. It's Twitter. It will always
be Twitter for me until it's gone. If it's not gone.

(11:29):
So I am not trying to foretell the death of Twitter.
As I said to people, I look, I am going
to go wherever they pop, wherever the people are that
want to read my thoughts and reporting on what's going
on with Big Brother. I honestly hope that it's eventually
blue Sky, because I don't like Twitter as a platform
based on who owns it at this point. But if

(11:51):
that's where the majority of the people are and that's
where the action is, that's probably where I'll be. Which
is why I think a large amount of people that
haven't committed and aren't trying to make the move, Specifically
house guests. I thought, specifically that Rob has a pad
podcast people I thought they they don't want to, you know,
upset the apple cart. They know their bread and butter

(12:11):
is their followers and their content, and they need to
be they need to be where the people are so
they may stay as well. And and and there's there's
I saw some former house guests that are like, no,
I'm just gonna stay here. Well, that's because you don't
think everybody's gonna move. In my opinion, if they all move,
you're gonna go too, right, So I would encourage you

(12:33):
to check it out. I am doing I did a
big follow Friday. Today, I am following a lot more
people on there. I am following over three hundred accounts
at this point, and my account follows was never over
one hundred. One hundred and like twenty is the most
I ever have followed. So you know, I am I'm
following over three hundred people. I have no problems following
everyone and anyone. I will follow people if they ask

(12:55):
me to. I am compiling lists of people that are
Big Brother fans. I'm doing everything I can to kind
of encourage people to to go this direction. And uh,
I just want the community to take off, and I
want people that have never been interactive before to try
it out and get interactive. Uh. Those that are there
love it, okay. And I will finally say this to
those of you that are contemplating it. This is a

(13:18):
much more liberal Uh if you're political, it's going to
be much more left leaning. Bear that in mind. So
those of you that are, uh, maybe maybe of the
other persuasion, you may not want to go there, you
may not be happy, but hey, you know what if
you feel you can go there and participate with people
that want to talk about Big Brother and and you know,

(13:38):
that's it, Then knock yourself out, show up and participate.
I I again, I will chat with anybody about the
show as long as it doesn't As long as politics
don't get it brought into it, I don't care, So
bear that in mind. If you wanna, if you want
to wait in and come on over, then come on
over and uh and check it out and participate. All right,

(13:59):
So that's why I jumped on here tonight. I'm probably
gonna do another podcast sometime in the near future to
talk about all the different reality shows I've been watching.
I just mentioned The Big Brother UK. I know there's
I don't know what's going on with The Traders US.
It sounds like there's two seasons of The Traders US coming.
I'm just not sure something's going on with Traders US.
I watched The Anonymous. I haven't finished watching The Anonymous yet.

(14:22):
It wasn't I was enjoying the show. I just haven't
finished it off. I haven't finished watching. I don't know
if Big Brother. I don't think Big Brother I don't think.
I don't think The Traders Canada has finished yet, but
I have I'm also behind on it. I'm just watching
lots of different shows, keeping busy, and I hope you
all are doing okay and hanging in there. And once again,

(14:43):
if you're looking for something new to try out, you
want a breath of fresh air, you want something different.
You're having a rough week, because a lot of people
are having a rough week, jump on to Blue Sky.
It's just just google the word blue Sky. There is
an iOS app. I personally would suggest you use a computer,
but if you only have a phone, you can get

(15:04):
the app. Sign up. It is free, get an account name,
and then uh participate. Look for me, look me up.
I am bb gossip on there, just like I am
on Twitter. You can message at me. There's d M messages.
There is the ability to block. There are feeds. Uh,

(15:25):
there are hashtags you can you can block, you can
mute hashtags, you can you can do you can actually
do in some ways more than you can do on Twitter.
But there are a few things that are a bit hinky,
like animated gifts. You cannot upload your own animated gift
right now, but you can upload videos, you can upload pictures.

(15:46):
You can use tenor for for gifts and and and
get the gifts that are out there. And there is
a way and I've talked about it of sharing gifts,
So there's there's ways to do some of these things.
It's only slightly more technical in some ways than Twitter.
But I am telling you the people that have checked
it out and I love it and say it reminds
them of the early days of Twitter as it were,

(16:08):
and so it's it's out there. As far as the
number of people that are on Twitter. By the way,
as I mentioned the hundreds of thousands or less than
one hundred thousand, you know, when it was a closed beta,
they just crossed over yesterday. They crossed over fourteen million users.
So they have fourteen million users on blue Sky right now. Now.
I will, for one, have at least two or three
different accounts. I just haven't used them all, so I understand.

(16:31):
It's but it's a lot, and it's a lot, and
there's a lot of Big Brother fans there. I can
tell you that. I've already mentioned some house guests myself.
Is there Big Brother? Barbecue? Is there? I'm pretty sure
they're active liquidated? Is there Big Brother? Some of the
other tombs showed up today, Mels showed up today. I

(16:56):
can't I don't even know a lot of Some of
these people I don't know very well, but I know
they're and i'd added them a big brother feeds Faery
showed up today. Some of you have no idea what
I'm talking about, because you can be a little bit,
you know, focused on who you follow on Twitter or
on these things. But the people are there again. Check
it out. I am sorry to bother those of you
that care absolutely nothing about or absolutely have zero interest

(17:19):
in Twitter or Blue Sky, but I did want to
share this, And besides, you haven't heard my voice for
a little bit, so I thought I wanted to. Thought
i'd get on here and say hello and h and
wish you all well. Have a good month of November.
Will I be on here again and before the end
of November. I have no idea. We'll see, but as

(17:39):
it is, there we go. I'm done talking. Oh boy,
seventeen minutes a lot of time. Hope I didn't put
you all to sleep. Talk to you guys soon, be
well and again we'll see you mostly on blue Sky,
but I am going to be on Twitter to poking
my head in and who knows, this time summer you

(18:00):
may see mer right back on Twitter full more. Because
Blue Sky has not panned out. I am not predicting
that it is going to be the place to end up.
I hope it is, but I also know that mister
Musk is going to do something multiple times in the
next few months that are going to upset people and
get people to leave, And we'll just have to see

(18:23):
if it's enough that enough people leave that it kind
of falls apart, at least for the Big Brother fans.
Maybe lots of other people will hang around there, but
I'm really hopeful that the people that are responsible for
the content that everyone logs onto Big onto Twitter to
see go elsewhere, so that you're kind of pulled. If
you want to have Big Brother content, you will not
find it on Twitter. You'll have to come to like

(18:45):
Blue Sky. And I can't tell you if content providers
are going to threads as much as Twitter I just
find or as much as blue Sky. I just find
blue Sky again, a much closer product to Twitter than threads.
I'm not comfortable with the threads interface. So there we go.
That's it, folks. I am out of here. Have a

(19:08):
happy rest of year November, and I will talk to
you soon. All right, Be well, everybody,
