We start minute 110 with the pod rising from the planet and ends with a Davidson straining to push out a log.

The “Planet of the Apes” is kicked off in only the way Tim Burton can kick off a franchise, by adding Dirk Diggler to the world of apes!

(00:00):
On today's Mini Apes. Boys, let's get our lighters and raising mice and
high. That Leo concert is over. We're gonna way back and forth.
He takes off into space, baking. Hello, and welcome to Miny of

(00:51):
the Apes, the daily podcast wherewe break down every minute of the plan
of the eight movies, one minuteat a time. I'm todd and i
am damn happy we are at theend of the week. Minute one ten,
we are waving our lighters in theair to say, who hey,
hey, hey, this one isover? Or is it? Ah?
There it is, Sean, tellus what's going on with me? One

(01:12):
one ten? All right, We'regonna start minute one tin with the pod
rising from the planet and ends withDavidson's straining to push out of a log.
Here we go, minute one ten. You said that it hit Richard.
He starts laughing, And it wasonly as I saw him laughing that
my brain went I realized what Seanjust said? Where do you see the
facing man? All right? Herehas benute one tin plenty of the Apes.

(02:35):
As a minute one ten we havean Obron's worth of apes and humans
who displays pods worth of humans andapes. So many while humans and apes
in Ape City and minus two gorillasand a peace among humans and apes.
So I did have to bite mytongue as your I saw that, still
framing him going. He's on thetoilets hard. He needs some fiber.
So visually we get shots of thelooking down to the ground, our mix

(02:58):
of humans and apes watching them. The pod goes up in the air,
leaves them behind. Why should Itho'brion. We get Leo inside the capsule,
flipping switches, pushing buttons. Thecapsule blasts off into space and turns
back into that little star fart thatwe had earlier. Now we're out in
the atmosphere. We go into space. We look down at the console itself

(03:20):
before we see the planet below.Leo's pod shoots away into that nebula type
thing. He goes over. Heflips more switches, and he goes into
the nebula. Things are going wrong. He starts really straining, which I'm
pretty sure your doctor would tell youdon't need to strain. If you're straining,
something's wrong. He goes in thenebula, happens, and that's when
he's pushing the log. So weleave everybody behind. Here's one thing that

(03:50):
hit me immediately. This is themoment when he leaves, right when those
parties on below to get closer.Because he's left, they now need That's
when you absolutely they they're now relyingon each other. It's a small thing,
but you have to do that sothat we leave that thought behind you.
Did you notice that they gave himdirection to wiggle wave back and forth.

(04:12):
That was bothering me. Like whenthey're in that well, if you
if you they start they start wavinglike if you kind of if you look
at a chimpanzee, they don't reallyjust stand still, they kind of shift
back. No, but the humansare doing it too, Like they told
the entire crowd just to react tothe rocket by rocking back and forth.
You can look at the children atfirst start to step back, and that's
fine because the little shock left.I wanted somebody to go, God,
damn it. Could you've told itabout the fucking dust. But then the

(04:35):
people in the background. You're right, everybody's sort of one foot to the
other. That's why I made methink of a concert, like I wouldn't
have lighters up or something, whichis kind of a weird, weird direction
for them looked unnatural. So whenLeo right, they should be coming together.
When Leo is going up in thepod, he starts flipping switches because
you know, that's how you pilotthings, switches whatever. But that was

(04:57):
my thing as a kid, whetherI watch Star Trek or whatever. I
saw a blasting off on the MillenniumFalcon. I love that. There's something
cool about pre touchscreen technology where it'svery TecTile, where you got a click
or a button technology. As Ipoint to the board, well yeah,

(05:17):
yeah, you still have a lotof those instances around, but you're right
nowadays, if that were the ship, it would be the LCD screen.
Yeah, but that's also so muchcheaper, or they would create would do
a VR or something like that wherehe's grabbing out in the air and moving
stuff around. So he flips hisswitches. The pod blast off, and
I'm cool with that. You knowthose switches, fine, if that's what

(05:39):
it takes to make it goes ZOOMIzoom. Well we've set that because the
planets lots of switches earlier, right, Yeah, So we go through the
atmosphere out and it pans down tothat screen, which I never have a
problem with you showing me the screen. You're just showing me his point of
view and what he's seeing, thoughit doesn't make a ton of sense when
you're looking at it. Um itaway and then we see there are four

(06:01):
moons or I guess. I guessthat big one off to the right could
be another planet. Yeah, it'sjust so large. They just established again
we're not on Earth. Yeah,it's definitely not Earth. It zooms away
off into that nebula and then hestarts flipping switches yet again and right away.

(06:21):
I mean he's not hesitating, he'sgoing in that a nebula. Did
we say at any point that thatnebula was the portal that would take him
back? Well, he again,he doesn't know. As as far as
he knows, you only go forwardwhen flying into actually went in last and

(06:42):
came out. I went in firstbut came out last. So he doesn't
know how any of this time dilation. Well, I mean that we know
of Yeah, and shouldn't he haveexplained this to someone what he was expecting,
just so that we got to tryto get back home. Yeah,
I think we would think it canget get me home. Went into the
nebula like this, I think ifI skip along its surface, it would

(07:02):
do this and take me anything. This is where you get another message.
True, this is where you geta message saying we're looking for the Oberon.
If okay, if that, ifthat had been in the message that
he found on the spaceship, youknow when they went into the Oberon in
the last third of the film.If that's there, now he has a
reason they're looking for me. Ithink that if I can go back in

(07:25):
time and way we went forward,we came forward in time. If I
went this way, maybe we couldgo back boom. It's at least a
logic. It's kind of stupid,but it's at least a logic. We've
already determined he's not a very smartcharacter. Well it's I mean, it's
from the Air Force. No,I'm just kidding. I never enter our
Air force uh uh personnel or vets. I apologize, I was um.

(07:50):
This podcast is not associated so forthe views of Richard does not associate himself
with his own But it's almost oneof those that I wish that it was
our next recording session because I wantto sit and watch the last this movie.
Now that is like here, itis close, right, here.
Yeah, I don't want to getit. Let us sit cold for them
before doing it, right, Butthat's really it. He goes out there

(08:13):
and he aims towards the nebula andgoes into it and starts vibrating. Right,
Yeah, we don't understand why.Right, it's the thing that caused
his problems because he especially, he'slearned nothing. He was so cavalier at
the first of the film that hewent beyond what he was supposed to do,
went into a situation that put himselfin a precarious area. And now
he's doing it again. Yeah,so maybe maybe he will go back and

(08:37):
see an alternate reality. That's somethingelse. This is all lest Does he
think he his whole this whole moviewas Leo's fault. Does he think he's
going to go back in time?Does he? Does he think he's going
to go back to Earth? Idon't know what his plan is. Okay,
let's go back to the making whenthey made this film and they cast
Mark Wahlberg. You're really on thisone. Was he the closest correlation Charlton

(09:03):
Heston that you could find? Imean he was he was a young popular
star, Bruce Willis he was astar at that point. Bruce Willis might
have been more interesting, the grizzled, like really aged kind of guy.
And well he might have seen thescript. That is true. They just
started knocking off people. Um yeah, Matt Damon, he's young and pretty.

(09:24):
He read the script? He said, no, yeah, he has
an academy. What if we're ridinggood Will? Hun what about Well he
can't read, so sure he didn't. Mark Wahlberg, Sean does not associating
himself with the comments. Man,that's right, that's right, mister Walberg.
Were huge fans Mark Warldberg. Ifyou're looking for me, I'm wearing
a blue Eddie Bauer shirt and glassesand I will fight you. That's right.

(09:46):
You'll hear him coming. He's hada couple of dozen moments, even
within the kissing moments with the girls. Did you notice that he still is
acting Israel? I don't know.Dust might have been affecting his allergies.
Man, here I am over here. It's myself to death. And it's
like, okay, that's his reasoningfor it. I now I'm gonna have
to watch every Mark Wahlberg movie togo through all the Transformer. What have

(10:11):
either of you ever watched a Transformerfilm A Transformer. I did watch a
Transformer FLDS. I actually, Ithink it was the third one. I
went to see a screening in thetheaters and there is a bad part where
they're in Egypt and there's they've transformedand it's a wrecking ball. They have
wrecking balls, okay, and they'rein between the legs so they look like

(10:35):
nuts clinging together. Of this againa free screening. You saw parents pick
their kids up and leave at thatpart. It's like, this is bullshit.
It's I can triumphantly say I've neverseen any of them, you know,
outside of you know, the occasionalcommercial that comes over. Yeah,
but I've never said down. Ijust don't. I did not grow up

(10:58):
with Transformers, and I don't likeMichael Bay. They were they were right
at the they were right at theend of my okay kid toy buying era.
So I had a lot of thefirst generation Transformers figures. They're cool
toys, sending with he Man.But then like by year or two,
I was out. I kind ofaged out at that particular point. Those
are very cool toys that idea ofI buy one thing and it becomes another
awesome idea. It's just I wastoo old for it. The um,

(11:24):
should we say this for the inbetween? I don't know. Maybe yeah,
yeah, to launch it in thein between? Yeah, let's say,
well, because I got some morestuff, okay, I in between?
Look, we are we are.We can officially say that our next
recording session will be our last onefor this for this movie. Um,
you know, I'll say, nowwe don't. I don't know that we
have a plan for when the otherscome. I will tell you that I'm

(11:46):
excited to get back into that justbecause I I'm excited for Richard to see
them. I'm watching these one minute, one minute a time. Seeing I
almost wish you would just watch thosemovies just once through and then do your
one minute because there's such good can'tit's not the rules. I'm excited about
watching these people. I could askyou all sorts of questions that I'm gonna
just watch you guys bite your towel. Huh oh. I'm gonna spoil them

(12:09):
for you. Just I don't wantany spoilers. You're just gonna have to
like, hush, you know what, the I'll spoil it for you.
The magic with within you all along? Oh great? You know I look
at those films and I tim Burtonagain, fantastic director, but matt Rees
being young with the second too,and just so exuberant to tell the stories
that he tells it it shows andeverything it's in him. I I look

(12:33):
at those with such reverence that Ilook at this and I'm like, I
don't know if tim Burton could everget any worse than this. I saw
something pop up not long ago,you know, one of those stupid things
tim Burton's films ranked, and I'mlike, uh, I know what's worst?
Do you know? It was thebottom? Actually it wasn't. It
was like second from the bottom. And forget what was the worst now I
can't think of I mean, didpeople like Alice want Alison wonder when I

(12:58):
was worse? Okay, okay,it was Alice, then him and Willie
was a few up from it.But Willie wasn't horrid. But it wasn't
great. It had moments that werelike so accurate to the book that's terrifying,
But then to add it in thewhole dentist daddy ship, it was
like, what the fuck is that? Anyway? All right, we're reaching.
That is it. That is theend of this week. We haven't

(13:20):
knocked our way through it. We'llbe back tomorrow with an in between,
and then, like I said,we've got two more week's worth of shows,
so we'll finish this out and we'llbe rejuvenated and ready to move right.
That's right. Everyone have a greatthing. Bye bye, everybody.
