(00:00):
On today is me of the Apes, Let the credits begin, drinking Hello,

(00:48):
and welcome to of the Apes, the daily podcast where you break down
every minute of the play of theApe movies, one minute at a time.
I am Todd drinking his pickleber wearinga Zeus Comic shirt. Is Sean,
that's right? And know over thereacross from me with the flowing locks,
it is Richard. Hello, Hello, And then we have Grety.
We have Gerty. She's being asweet girl right now? Are we excited

(01:11):
about credits? Todays gets us closerto the end of the movie. You
know, I want to before weroll things because there's not a lot,
you know, talk about where Curtisare rolling. And like I said yesterday,
we're going to kind of you know, you guys roll the clip.
You guys roll the clip with meand watch it. So if you see
somebody you want to call out foranything, I'm not going to stop it
down and Whatnotum, I want toI want to beg to differ a little

(01:37):
bit with Richard. I think itwas Richard that was saying yesterday that this
isn't if he had started the moviewhere it ended that that might not be
Richard tim Burton's style with that Seanthat said that, yeah, okay,
okay, I know I said itwasn't a style. Yeah. I as
as we took our little break betweenthe episode, I let my mind go
that. I imagine if it startsthere and tim Burton's weirdness and you go

(02:00):
to the experiments, maybe they're runningon humans, and how twisted he could
have made that. You know, the facade out here looks like Earth,
but it goes inside that. AllI can think is these credits roll is
of a missed opportunity. If theyhad really tried something, if they'd really
pushed it to a new level andgiven me something fresh instead of trying to

(02:20):
go and put humans in a precariousslave type situation where they're not slaves.
Again. Let's let's get down toAnnakin Skywarker's not a slave. He's a
kid that runs around and says yippyand gets told when to go home.
It's the same angel. Oh,so let's let's roll the credit credits.
Do you have any notes on thisshan where it begins and is? Okay?

(02:40):
So yeah, go ahead. Sominute one fourteen tells fourteen with a
list of casts and ends with visualeffects producer Tom C. Pipesman, all
right, we're going to roll them, and like I said, we'll talk
through this these minutes over the nextseven days. Like they're probably going to
be fairly short. I think thatwe've kind of touched upon most of the
themes. We want to give youa little bit. So here we go
kind of a lot of nice littlepercussive music, but we see our cast

(03:04):
Walberg, Tim Roth, you know, Tim Roth, I did realize that,
hang on, we're gonna get ithere in a second. Lisa Murray's
character was named Nova. Probably that'sso long ago. So one thing that
we didn't mentioned was I found aquote from Tim Roth where he was highly
uncomfortable shooting those scenes with Charlton Heston. He said, just because they are

(03:27):
such from political different ends of thespectrum. And it took Tim Burton talking
to him about it and assuring him, and they were even they were worried
about the scene itself giving it toTarlton Heston because it was actually kind of
anti gun and the power, andCharlton's not, like, no, I
think it's great, let's go withit. He thought the irony of him
being the one was there. ButI found it interesting that tim Roth,

(03:50):
at least I think it's pro gunbecause he's saying, look, humans have
this destructive power, and now I'mgiving it to you. And here come
the ends of this minute, andwe end with our associate cruisers and also
the visual effects person Tom C.Pisman. I think what they thought about
was the destructive power and how theytalk about that kind of thing, because
it says in this quote that theygave I'm gonna see if I can find

(04:13):
it. As you know, assoon as you want something like this,
it's impossible to dial right to that. Charlton Hatston had no problem with the
brief scene, even though it highlightedthe perceived violent nature of firearms. Set
producer Richards Zanek I was apprehensive whenwe wrote the scene and sent it to
him. We didn't hear back fromhim for a while. Finally I called
him up and asked him what hethought of the lines, and he said,
oh, yeah, I think they'rewonderful. And he thought and Zanick

(04:35):
thought it, Oh think God,we got away with the gun. So
I get where they were all kindof worried about these kind of things.
But I find it interesting that TimRoth didn't want to do the same,
and especially at that point. Youknow, you're Tim Roth is a fairly
established He's more of a character actorthan just a lead actor. He's had
lead roles, but he usually takeson characters. I found it a little

(04:57):
odd that somebody at that point ina movie this big has the balls to
go. I don't want to.I mean I wouldn't want to either,
but you know, I don't wantto be in this movie for other reasons.
For what it's worth, the uhLindo's first handler, ape commander,
second ape soldierist Kevin Grava. Youguys and a deep deep boys. You

(05:17):
also might recognize him one of hisHe's been in a lot of movies.
Um, but he was also hewas also he was the writer. He
was the creator the Underworld. That'sright, Yeah, okay, yeah,
it was first. Here is firstproducer writing credit. He came with the
original concept for the Underworld series andwrote the original Screwpay along with director Lenn
Weisman. He's the one that soundslike a deeper voice Michael Clark duncan to

(05:39):
believe it or not. Really,Yeah, he's the one that sounds like
yeah, that guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, he definitely just think
he should get some some notice, even though he's just kind of a side
actor in this. They have aI wonder if this is that actual person,
it says. Woman in cart isplayed by Linda Harrison. Woman in
Kart Linda Harrison. Yeah. Ialso find that the interesting that Gorilla kid

(06:03):
On and Orthade's nieces played by DeepRoy, which is the smaller actor that
has been in at Burden Loves workwith. Yeah, he put him in
as the Umpa Loompa's in the Charlieand Chocolate Factory. I didn't realize that
was him. There's so many ofthese people that so Limbo's first handler,
Ape Commander's second ape soldiers, sothese people were playing the three roles.

(06:24):
Yeah, yeah, that's interesting.Yeah, okay, yeah, but she
had a cameo and Tim Burns twothousand and one remake, So I hate
that we missed her. I didtoo. I'm not willing to go back
and watch it. There you go, I'm right there with you. I
did not pick that up. Idid see something online one time. We
was talking about movie plot holes thatwe did not even think about this whole
time. So the apes or evolvedapes from the Oberon crashing. The humans

(06:47):
are evolved humans from the Oberon Crashing. Where did the horses come from?
They were native to this planet?Yeah, I guess so. But I
think we did say something about thehorses that maybe they could have done something
to dress them and look a littledifferent, maybe anything just to you know,
a wild horse has a man thatis out there and flowing and things

(07:10):
like the unicorn horn on it,anything, put a thade face on him.
That's apparently what you do in thisrold just dropped the face on him.
Yeah, they didn't set up horseson the obron. Now obviously they
don't have to set up everything, but yeah, the horses are out of
place. That was actually Linda Harrison. Yeah it is. The Wikipedia says
she made a cameo. Wow,Old Ape number two is Rick Baker.
Oh my goodness, is he creditedOld Ape number two? Rick Baker?

(07:34):
Look at that? Rick Baker himselfgets a little moment. Yeah, Rick
doesn't need the other names in thisstuff. Oh Taylor, Yeah, he
owes me twenty bucks. I wonderwhy they gave a credit to nineteen sixty
eight Plan of the Apes Theatrical motionpicture adapted by Michael Wilson Rode telling why
did he need to credit that thisis somehow based off that? So they

(07:59):
have to maybe the lead realities andwhatnot. It's a legal thing, I'm
sure, just like characters that wereusing. Yes, but they should have
normally say based off characters. Yeah, that's where I would have given because
the Sterling film is derivative of theoriginal source, I would go back and
credit that novel because there the novelis so significantly different than the movie that

(08:20):
you're adapting a movie and not thenovel. We have a really really it's
like, if you made a sequeltoo Wanted the movie, it would not
be the comic book, because thecomic book is in nineteen eighty five,
the DC bad guys one and tookover and made a superhero reality into our

(08:41):
reality. So Superman was really Supermanand they turned them into Chris Reeves and
he's in a wheelchair. Now Batmanis really Batman. Now he's Adam West
and they fuck with him. Wantedthe movie was about people shooting each other
and bending bullets and all this stuffhad nothing to do with comic books.
So if you made a sequel toone or a reimagining if wanted and made
about people shooting at everything, youwould credit the movie and not the comic.

(09:05):
And I get that, but Istill I still find it curious that
they don't do anything with Peer Bullbecause you're still taking his original source material
and working from that. Yeah,I just found it weird. They had
a ship ton of stunt players too. Well. The stunt players are probably
the girl lists and costumes. Theydidn't get them acting credits. They give
them stunt player of credits, right, they run around those costumes on the

(09:26):
beach and right at the nice littlecamp. I don't know that there's ape
soccer kids. Two of them werefamily, Cameron Crabwell and Joshua Kralwell,
well you find kids on the street. Hey, you want to be an
ape? Come on, m onthe place of Zacer put on a night
mask. Stunt players, Yeah, just a lot of them, Just a
big long list of sun players.Would you just assume as everybody was an

(09:48):
ape costume, that it wasn't anactual credited character. Well, that's the
end of the minute. I don'tknow that if anybody has notes they want
to go beyond that. Hey,we're reaching the ten minute mark. We
did good with a minute of creditsas we can. Okay, I think
that's about it. We'll be backtomorrow with another thrilling minute worth of credits.
Everyone have a great Dame. Byebye everybody.
