(00:43):
Apes, you know, we're tryingto tease it and it goes around the
horn. Richard looks at his phoneand goes, oh, I'll no,
and then kind of giggles on theend of Sean Johnning, So you know
what, here comes the theme drinkingabout Hello and welcome to Minute of the
(01:40):
Apes, The Daily podcast we breakdown every minute of the plan of the
Ape movies, one minute a time. I am todd I am jubilant today.
This is it. Here we are. It's at the fucking end.
As I actively yawned, I lookover and Richard's leaning away so you don't
hear the yawn. And I'm makingfolders for a few movies. I'm already
(02:01):
wrapped up. Did we set ourselvesup to hate this movie? Because we
did? I don't know. Wedidn't set ourselves the movie set up.
I did not. Okay, fairly, you went in and we this movie
has changed your opinion of the film. Would you agree with that? But
I'm also breaking it down, andthat's something I don't know that I would
would have even if they'd been onTV. I probably wouldn't have put this
(02:23):
much thought into it. Again,I'd just like to watch it, okay.
I would hope that when you watchit on TV, you would still
kind of go, what look mydescriptions with oh, okay, Sean and
I both I think we're already preparedfor like, this is not going to
be fun, especially knowing what's comingafter this. It's like eating really,
it's it's the meal that you don'twant to eat so that you can have
(02:44):
the dessert afterwards. They really exactly. I don't want to know a thing.
Okay, we're talking talking, We'regonna get into some things, but
we won't other than telling you whatthe log line is. So you know
what the film is. If youactors, then are in it, et
cetera. Okay, Now, sometimeswe like to watch the tree trailer.
That's not a bad idea, butmy question is is it going to tell
(03:04):
me more than I want to know? Because I am king, I'm turned
having my husband turn off a trailerbecause that's too much. I don't want
to see anything else. I am, well, we're no, I don't
want to see accident. I'm pullingup myself. Okay, you guys can
to be fair. Hang on,the rules have been and we establish this
win within our little three way friendship. Here is he'd never seen them,
(03:27):
and he watched the trailers before.Yeah, and so that's almost part of
what it has to be. See. There are movies I just don't see
the trailers for, and I willsay I will help my husband turn them
off. I don't want to watchthe rest of that. Okay, then
I'll tell you what. We willplay the trailer and if you feel like
you need to walk away from it, you may walk may walk over,
but you have to get started. So well, in a little bit,
I would do it on your computerso that the audio will be going through.
(03:50):
Richard, come over there, okay, And we just need to make
sure we shared the exact same link. So I pulled out. I'm just
gonna say, literally, have himwalk over to you. I understand.
I thought you were going to watchit. I thought you were going to
watch. Okay, gonna watch.Okay, we'll watch it over here.
Boy, that's a lot of behindthe scenes. All right, we got
minute one twenty, Sean tells. So we started where we end. We
start minute one twenty with the Londonunit and end with produce and release by
(04:12):
twenty century five. All right, let's roll it. Oh well, now
we're a little bit more sad. We've lost our techno. Hang on,
so what is rule the planet remix? What is it remixing of? Upright?
We could read the books at HarperEntertainment and Newmarket Press. Oh the
novelization. Maybe they fill in someblanks that we don't know. They shot
(04:35):
this in Arizona. Also at LosAngeles Center Studio Hawaii. There's a Hawaii
film office. The day that Arstastill was shown in that story, it
must have been in the beginning, must have been like maybe when David said
those little clips a little the littleUh, that's right. I guess they
did tease us that the time waswonky because they were showing us settling.
(04:56):
It is so bad? That isthat is you to define it? Yeah,
if you have to reach that hardto find that? Yeah, produced
and released by twenty century Fox.Hey. By the way, apparently I'm
next on my Amazon thing was Vertigoin case you wanted to watch that.
There is no more twentieth century Fox. There's twentieth century that is true.
There's twentieth Fox, isn't it?Or just twenties? I can't there we
(05:18):
stand. That is the end ofTim Burton. Does anybody have any closing
comments before we move on to whatcomes next? I mean, didn't I
think we can all admit, youknow much we've been dreading it, and
I'm glad it's over right. Um, I'm trying to bring up Plane of
the Rise, of the Plane ofthe Apes so I can read the log
(05:39):
line to Richard. So it wasthe first movie called Rise. Yes,
okay, it's Rise Dawn war Sowhat comes next is two thousand elevens Rise
of the Planet of the Apes. And there there are a lot of of
the of the movie. So yougot Rise of the Planet of the Apes,
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War four, the Plane of
the Ape. You know what Imean. I mean apparently Mars's Conquest Battle
(06:02):
Escape Man. By the way,I AMDB needs to look at the weight
of their pages. They have builtthings now where when it loads, it
is so heavy it just stutters.I'm just telling you, I AMDB.
If you're listening, let's look atthat shit. Rise at the Plant of
the Eighth directed by Rupert Wyatt. This is the simple logline. Are you
(06:26):
ready, Richard? A substance designedto help the brain repair itself gives advanced
intelligence to a champanzee who leads anape uprising. Cool. Okay, that
is the name, and there itis. That is science fiction for you
to a t is it not.Let's slightly change a little bit of technology.
Let's give it and it gives usan impact that's somehow bigger than that.
Rupert Wyatt let's talk about our director. If IMDb will load without just
(06:50):
completely bogging down, let's see thereit goes finally um as a director Mosquito
Coast, a TV series. Soprior to this he had made a short
film called Ticks, a film calledSubterranean, a short called Get the Picture,
(07:12):
a feature named The Escapist, whichwho's in The Escapist? I know
that film? God, I amDBU load so terribly now. Brian Cox
Damian lewis just a fine lean Cunningham. I don't think I ever saw it,
but I knew what i'd heard. That film. Well, he likes
working with Brian Cox because he's inthe first movie in the that is true.
(07:34):
He then makes this. He goeson to work on Turn, the
Washington Spy series that was on AMC. I enjoy that, The Gambler,
which isn't that Marky Mark That Icould not tell you. So he eventually
works with market Marky makes The ExorcistCaptive Stay at the Mosquito Coast. He
I'll throw it out up front thathe was does not make the next two
because so apparently he did not likethe twenty century Fox wanted a more pinpoint.
(08:00):
What do we do with the story, and they wanted him to go
into production faster and he wanted sohe stepped away from the series and then
goes to Matt Reeves. Oh okay, well that's at least the story he
gets. It'd be very interesting tosee what his if he would have continued,
if he would have made a trilogy, what his thoughts were for future
movie. And then you have toremember directors are not always writers. Just
(08:22):
because you directed an awesome film doesn'tmean you wrote that awesome film. You're
building off the backs of other people, right, Yeah, So I've got
the trailer over here. Um,okay, Richard, if you I'm going
to quick over there. Yeah,I'm gonna mute everything so I can bring
it up and not have it bleedin. Yet, Let's just make sure
(08:43):
I get audio through this. I'msorry, we're testing this shit on the
fly. Um, yeah, wedo. That would be audio. So
come on over here. Oh you'regonna need to bring your headphones because that's
how you'll hear it. You walkover there. We are the height of
(09:03):
technical proficiency here. Now, Richardhas said he walks away from trailers,
you might walk away from. Soif this becomes too much then simply step
away. Okay, but we're goingto play this. This is the official
trailer, number two. That's theonly one that I could find immediately on
YouTube. All right, here wecome. We're talking about huge potential for
(09:31):
millions of people. Our therapy enablesthe brain to repair itself. We call
it the cure. I want youto start testing and chimps asap. We
test one subject. I want tomake sure it's staple. I designed the
(09:54):
one twelve repair. The season hasgone way beyond that. I mean increase
intelligence skills that far exceed that ofa human counterpart. This is wrong.
Will it works? I don't knowwhat about Caesar. What does he fit
in that chip's company property. Hehasn't spend any time with other chips.
(10:20):
They're not people. You know, you're trying to control things that are not
meant to be controlled. Richard's walkingaway as Caesar begins looking at different things
that he's they are contaminating. Putthose apes down. You have no idea
(10:50):
what you're dealing with. Mr.So in that trailer, excuse me.
(11:33):
We see a lot of actors thrownin here. Um, God, James
Franco, you honestly didn't even knowwho's in it. I didn't know if
James Flanker was in it with TomJohn Lithgow, Tom Hittleson, not Hittleson,
Tom Felton. Is that name?Free to Free to Panto, Brian
(11:56):
Cox, Yeah, Felton. There'sa lot of really good people associated with
this. And it's written by RickJaffa Amandus Silver and then as always pure
Bull is credited. Yeah, thisfilm, without getting too far into it,
obviously tries to go back and explainhow a play of the apes kim
(12:16):
this is literally that's that's basically wherewe're starting. Is they look at where
Burton tries to find out how dowe retell the same story again? They
said, how do we actually tellthe story of where this goes? And
is it a perfect fit for theoriginal films? No, I'm gonna I
will admit that up front, andI think they intended that. I think
they're kind of like, Okay,we're gonna kind of show you how this
(12:37):
kind have started. But I thinkthat the series of three films is pretty
rock solid. Sure, they're goingto be places where we look and go
this doesn't work that and working, but it dramatically is going to be totally
different than where we've come from withthis last film. Okay, So knowing
that, Richard, seeing what yousaw the trailer, what do you think
(12:58):
the story is and how do youthink it ends? Okay, you you've
got to be Sean at least gaveus his neophyte. What are you expecting
out of this after you've seen whatlittle you saw? Relatively straightforward. Man
creates invention to save apes or savehumans. Ape becomes highly evolved, gets
(13:24):
out, um becomes disillusioned, kindof a disillusioned with life for himself or
the placement of rolls of apes, and decides to take it into his own,
maybe helping other apes evolve. Iwould see that movie. I will
say something. We listed the wholecast while we were the whole cast,
(13:45):
most of cast. One person wedidn't say, Andy Circus is after Humongous.
You watched this movie after you watchthe first movie we like for the
last in between or something like that. We're gonna sit down with bonus features
and show you his performance versus thefinal stuff, and you will go,
(14:05):
God, damn, that's him actingup there. Anybody that you know when
the Academy comes up, says well, digital performance art is not really acting,
Yeah, fucking is. You willsee you already can see it with
the gallum stuff that they created. But the technology evolves so much that Sean's
right, there's one or two momentswhere it's like, oh fuck, they
made any circus into an ape Andhe is so good in all these films.
(14:26):
He really is. He's a greatact that dude. It's funny.
It's funny to me. Is Ithink about the people that bitch about green
screen acting and this kind of thing. This isn't really acting, isn't it
kind of going back to what actingis all about, which is that show
me what ice cream tastes like? You know your face? Had you learned
to emote like that? I thinkthis is the core of acting. So
(14:52):
Lord of the Ring stuff that alot of that had to be hand animated,
and so while they were using hisperformance as a base, they were
doing their own touches on it.This is his perform for because it is
you know, dot stuff captured onthe face. And when you see a
scene of him acting and like likepressing his face against glass and stuff like
(15:13):
that, and then you see Caesar'sversion of it, you're like that,
Tim, I did not know themonkey's name was Caesar, so I'm happy
to have his name be Caesar.Yeah, there's why, but they see
I was. I was at happyhis name was Caesar. Yes. Look,
they do try to take in someof the original film and work films
and work it into this. Butand I think by and largely succeeded.
(15:35):
When they do that, it comesoff, They earn it. It isn't
just like a period. This feelslike if you were to remake the original
plan of the Apes with modern technology, not Tim Burton, but like just
remake it. It feels like thesethree would be the beginning to that.
Yeah, it does so with whatwe intend. I know that, as
(15:58):
Sean put today, a lot ofthis depends on me grabbing it and splitting
up the clips for us just startwatching. Do we intend to take a
few weeks off here and it won'tbe too long until start recording. We'll
start recording soon. It'll be threeor four months at least until they start
coming out. Yeah, but isthat our intention is just to get right
back to this after a few weeksoff. Yeah, soon, stop yawning
bit, sorry, it's all onyoutu. Soon you start coming up.
(16:22):
Sorry, everybody start, I willyeah, I yeah. So so here
two said it for you guys.I've got to edit all these clips.
Um, then I go to pickAbbey up from Colorado and Bringer back,
so maybe about three weeks four weeksfrom now, I can start splitting things
up. So maybe in about sixweeks we can start recording again. All
right, yeah, kind of playingfor that. But then I'm also on
(16:42):
vacations. But well, we'll figureit out somewhere in this summer start,
you know, as long as westart, we get some stuff rolling the
summer. Yeah, we'll have sometime this summer to do it. So,
as Sean put out, maybe threefour months from now and maybe yeah,
five months, we'll have some newepisodes out there. But that's it.
We've done it again. Boy,you can talk about the Flash then
because we'll have seen it. That'strue. That's true. So Marvel's all
(17:04):
that kind of stuff. That isthe sixth film in the books. We
are done two thirds of the wayof the currently existing movies done well.
We will definitely have a new filmout before we finish the last three.
But we're assuming, we're assuming we'veseen Warner Brothers before it happened one time.
But they also canceled Babel one fivetwo, so no, no,
(17:25):
they haven't. It's the whole writerstrike has affected things. That's why it's
slowing stuff down. I know thatdefensive as that was my nutshots. Something's
coming out this winsy about bab Onfive that's canceled. Nah, I don't
know. But he's been doing stuffwith brush Box, Leidner and other people.
(17:47):
He killed them all. I thinkit's a documentary, but I don't
know. Okay, I don't wow, Okay, Well that is it boys.
Congratulations. We did movies in thebook and the one that Lee,
Shaun and I dreaded the most.Yes, it's done by. I just
get to ten by. So we'regonna go eat Mexican mood now and have
right alcohol. Right. Thank youall for listening. We appreciate each and
every one of you. Just standby and we will communicate out with you
(18:11):
as soon as we have new episodesto release. But again, thank you,
thank you, thank you for allof that you all of that you
do, spreading this word, listeningto us, giving us feedback. We
appreciate each and every one of you. Until we speak again, everyone,
be safe, have great days, each and every one of them. I
love you, everybody,
